If the desk he'd bought from someone else had fit through the door, Rabbi Noah Muroff wouldn't have had to take it apart. And if he hadn't taken it apart, he probably wouldn't have found a shopping bag inside containing $98,000.
He called up the person who sold him the desk and found out it was her inheritance; she'd forgotten what she did with it. So the money was headed back to its original owner.
We saw this as a good, "what would you do?" moment. Let's say you found a large amount of money in something you'd just bought from someone - could be in a baseball glove, a piece of art, a pair of shoes - what comes next?

I would be shocked first. Then I will try to find the owner of the money and give it to them. If I can't find the owner, I will the police the situation and give them the money.
if i found a stash of cash in my my desk i would cal back the owner to give it back to them.
so yay I will call the owner cause some time you cant take thing for that not yours like id I found 60000 dollar I will give it to the owner
If I found that money I would bring it back to the owner, because maybe you would get a reward in return. Its nice to see that faith in humanity is being restored.
I would give back because if you don't give it back god wont bless you.
I would find the owner and give it back. But I would keep it if the owner couldn't be found
I would find the owner and give it back.however I wouldn't try too hard. if the owner couldn't be found I would keep it
I honestly would want to keep it, but I know the right thing to do is to tell someone about what you found. Then tell the person you got it from first, to see if it is someone else's before you take it.
I would do the same thing
I would save that cash for college 🙂
Lol hahaha its wrong but funny
I would give them half and split the other half for my college, children's hospital charity, and the mall because after all I bought it.
I would personally hand them there money and ask if i could i at least a 100 bucks for giving it to them
If I were to find a lot of money somewhere I would want to keep it, but I know it wont be the right thing so I would report it and that will make me feel like I've done something special.
I feel like I would freak out a first, then come to my senses and probably end up doing the same thing Rabbi did. Imagine being the person to lose almost 100,000 dollars, Rabbi did the right thing.
his name was not rabbi he was a rabbi
To tell you the truth I would keep the thing I find or at least search for whom the owner is.
If I found a big stash of cash, I would probably return because it is the right thing to do and who knows, it could be someone's life savings.
Well that's what the jewish religion is about, "do to others what you would want others to do to you".
i am sweet person, i will find the owner and give to them, if they said u can have it, i wont want it, because i will feel guitly
I think that most people(including me) would call the seller and tell them about the money.
I think that if you found a stash of cash then most people would return it. The reason people keep money that they find is because it isn't worth a lot. If you found anything $1- $20 you would keep it because it is not life changing money but finding over that is a lot of money and the person who lost it would probably want it back. The same thing happened with the homeless person returning the wedding ring, if it costs a lot then it will probably be returned. "To much is too much to keep".
I would have called the owner out of curiosity
I would have to return it, it's not mine to keep if it was theirs.
I definitely would return the money to the original owner of the product which I bought. Not doing so would be the same as stealing – owning something I am not rightfully supposed to own.
If i was the person who found the money, I would have called and asked if she had lost anything in the desk because she said she had lost it and forgot where she put it. If she said she had lost money, i would have told her to state the amount. She could have been lying but I think the people were nice to return it instead of keep it for themselves.
If I were them and found the money i would have kept it all for myself,,, i think that they made the wrong choice because the ladie could have never known that is was there. I dont belive in karma, i would have bought a ferrari and a bunch of other stuff all for myself. Im greedy. 🙂
I would either keep the money because I bought the desk therefor giving me the right keep whatever is in it PLUS she/he forgot about it OR take as much as i payed for the desk out of the cash the return it
if this happened to me i would at first freak out and my first thought would be if I'm allowed to keep it. I would eventually return it to it's owner.
I would give it back to the owner two
I would have given it to them right away
i would probably give the money back to its rightful owner too
i would keep the money. it may be wrong but thats a grip.
It would be tempting to just keep the money, however my conscience would not let me do it. I would call the original owner and let them know what I found.
I would return the money, no question; keeping something that isnt yours, no matter what it is, thats wrong.
I would return the money immediately because it doesnt belong to me and it wouldn't be fair to the owner.
I have a good character but I'm also honest and I would have kept the money. It's not uncommon for someone to do that. People do it all the time, maybe it just happens to the people who need it.
i'd keep the money. i'm broke and need money. also i like money
i would probably give some money to a charity and give some to my church do help with the Guatemala trip that they do every year and whatever is rest to the people in need in my community.
i would return the money to its rightful owner. you never know how bad they need the money. they could be in a way more difficult situation and truly need it, but no matter the situation.. if you do the right thing and return it, usually something good will come out of it for you.. they could give you a portion of the money for returning it, but you also wouldnt have that guilty concious like you would if you didnt return it.
I would have called the previous owners just like they did and i would have made sure that it was their money and i would have given it back to them. When you know something is not yours return it:)
i would have done the same thing its just the right thing to do
I would give the money back, because thats to much money to keep and it might be the owner who they bought the desk from.
I would call the person I bought it from and ask if they left anything in the desk if they told me right off that they left their money I would deffinitely give it back. However, if they couldn't tell me what was in it I would have probably gave it to charity or to numorous people i knew really needed it!
I would do what Rabbi Noah Muroff did, it's the right thing to to. They might need it for something important and if that was to happen to me I would want them to return it. Honesty is important and therefore everyone should do the right thing.
If I had found a load of cash from something I bought from someone, I would honestly see if the owner really needs it, like if they are wealthy or have a great job, then I would sent it to charity where it is mostly needed.
If i would have found the money i would have asked the owner of the desk how much she had in the desk. If her answer didn't match with the amount i would keep the money.
i would try to return the money but if it was 50 or 100 bucks i might keep it but i wouldn't keep a large some of cash because it is wrong and it could even be involved with illegal activity.
I would return it to the rightful owner, because that stash of cash could be for something their saving up for like a car or new house.Returning is to the rightful owner is doing the right thing.
i would of kept the money. its not my fought she left in in there.
If I were to find a secret stash, and the person was not claiming the money, i would Just keep the money.
If this was me that had bought the desk, and had to take it apart & found all that money; I would've did the same thing he did. I would have called the owner of the desk and took their money back to them. I just feel like that would be the right thing to do, because if that was my inheritance money I would've wanted it back too.
I would give it because i know how it feels to lose an amount of money. Especially because it was her inheritance. To many they would of kept it. Everybody works hard to get that money & to just lose it like paper it's hard. You have to have generosity i every person because it could happen to you at any moment. An you would not like for someone to keep it.
I would return it. If i kept it I would feel extremely guilty and then I couldn't spend a dime. But honestly at first I would want to keep it even though i know it's wrong. I'm pleasantly surprised by the person in this article. He has strong morals that i admire. 🙂
You should take it back to its original owner. They might be so happy that they even give you some of whatever you take back to them. Its a good deed and you get rewarded also.
If i found money i would try to find out whose it is and give it back thats just the type of person i am.
If I found a bunch of money in something I bought, I would try and get it back to its owner, but I wouldn't go to great lengths to do so. I bought the product so therefore I bought everything inside of it.
I think that I would give the money back depending on the amount. If it was a lot of money, $98,000 for example, I would obviously give it back. But if it was just $5 or $10 , I wouldn't give it back because its not a lot of money (something that will be missed greatly)
It depends on what I found it in. I would probably notify the owners if it was a large amount but if it was just a few dollars, the money would soon be in my pocket. On the other hand, if you buy something, don't you own everything in it too?
I would call the seller, but i also think that if you buy something you should get everything you paid for... its the sellers fault for forgeting what they did with their money, even if its a large amount.
I would keep it for something important. If you asked the previous owner, you couldn't tell if they were lying or not.
If I found money I would try to give back the money.
I would keep the money because technically now it's my money because I bought the desk and everything in it.
I would keep the money or else ask the person if they knew how much money was in there because they could just have lied to him, he should have reworded how to tell them about it to see if it was theirs.
I would keep it. Ive found money before all the way up to a 100 dollar bill. I have kept at least a portion of it every time. I am not saying i endorse stealing but this is just a story of one person who is careless falling into rather unlucky circumstances while someone else gets extremely lucky and I feel he should have kept it.
I would do what is right, turning it back into the owner. I would tell them that they must have forgotten about it. But no matt how much there was I would turn it in.
If I found a large amount of money in something I would try to find the owner first but if I coudn't find the owner I would keep the money because I bought the thing that had the money in it so it would be mine.
It was defiantly a costly mistake on their part. It would make no cents to keep the money.
I would want to give it back. People work hard for the money they earn. The money isnt mine so I would feel bad if I kept it.
I would give the money back. You know how the saying goes Mo money mo problems.
If I got $98,000 I would figure out who I bought it from and then call them and. see if it they are missing there money. But I would not keep it because that is a lot money and it is not mine to spend. I would never take there money and just waste it. cause it would sorta be stealing.
They bought the desk, so if they forgot the money in the desk thats they're problem because how can you forget about $98,000, i would maybe return half of the money and be happy we gave back that much.
I'd probably keep the money for myself.
Honestly, I would keep the money.
Id keep it because it would be easier to keep it then to try and return it to someone who might not own it.
I would give it back to the owner because it's the right thing to do. If someone found something of yours you would want them to return it to you.
I would return the money to the owner. If I left almost &100,000 in a desk I would want it back.
If I had been in this situation, I would've brought back the money to the original owner. Yeah that sounds like a great deal, but deep down, you would feel bad for your actions.
I would return the money. Any amount of money that large deserves to be returned to the original owner.
if someone sold me the property of this and i found extra money in it, i own the money technically.
I would keep it because i bought it. Finders Keepers Losers Weepers.........
I would return the money to the owner and ask if I could have a little bit of that money for returning the money to her
i would try to find the owner of the money, but if i didn't i would keep the money.
To me it all depends. If it was a lot of money i would probably keep it. But on the other hand my conscience would make me call the person that gave me it and tell them that i have their money. I have a reputation of doing good and helping others.
I would take the money to the police because what if the money is stolen?
if it were me i wood keep the money #awesome
i would return it to the person. because i don't know if that's there emergency money that they forgot about or vacation collection. even if i find some cash on the road i will search for anyone if looking for before just keeping it especially if it is allot of cash.
If it was $0-$100 i would keep it, but if it was above $100 I would probably return it, that could be a lot of money to that person and they may need it, so i would ask them if it was there's and give it back.
The right thing to do would be to return the money to the rightful owner, that is what I would do. Unless the money came with whatever I had bought, I would return the money. That money, no matter the amount, could be very important to whoever sold it. Its not my right to keep money given to me by accident.
My mom always says "If you snooze, you lose." However, I don't believe that nonsense, I would do the right thing and return the money to its original owner. That is always the right thing to do.
i would keep it, because finder keepers! but also i might give it back to the place where i found it because what if you were in there position and you lost your money. would you want it back?
I would return it. It is the right thing to do. It wouldn't be fair to the seller to keep the money that they accidentally left in something they sold. Mistakes happen and I would want them to do the same for me.
I would return the money to its original owner. Sometimes we make tiny mistakes, accidentally put our belongings somewhere else, and forget about it. If that happened to me, I would be devastated. Besides, even if I did want to take it, I would feel guilty and end up returning it anyway.
If I found that type of money I honestly would've kept some of it and gave the rest back to it's owner.
Obviously, you need to return it. I hate it when you lose money that ends up really important later, even if it's $1,000,000 or $10. It can catch someone off guard if they lose a big amount of money, and keeping it wouldn't be the right thing to do.
If I found money in a piece of art i would first look through the painting to see if there was a phone number to call back them to tell them that I have their money, even though my consonance is wanting me to keep the money to use it on me and my family members.
yeah noah you are right, your concence says that you should do the wrong thing.
I would give the money back because it's just common courtesy but I would get just a bit.
I dont know. The right thing to do would probably be turn it in. But, 98,000 is a lot. So its pretty difficult to decide.
i would give it back if that person sold me it because their in debt.
To be completely honest, I'd take the money and go to California. Sorry but don't they say finders keepers, losers weepers? If I found 5 dollars and I knew whose it was, I'd slowly walk away like a ninja and go buy some tacos. <3
I would have to keep it because i would like to keep the money and i did just buy the desk and all that it contains so it would technically be mine but if she were to ask me i would give it back to her.
I would keep the money because everyone is struggling with money problems and when you find a thousand dollars in a desk your telling me you wouldn't keep it. after all they were the ones who sold it to you.
I would find the owner and try to work with him/her to donate at least half to the homeless, cancer research, children's hospitals, Philippines, war victims and other charities.
If I had found a stash of cash I would have gave it to the person that sold me the item I bought. I would give it back because I would feel really bad and would need to give it back.
well if i found a lot of money that i just found from something i bought from the past owner i would return the money ,if you would not want someone to take money from something they bought from you
I would give it back. I think that everyone should give it back but I know that a lot of people are greedy and would not give it back. There are also still good people out there but a lot of people might not admit that they would take it.
If I found a large amount of money in something I just bought from someone, I'd definitely return the money because for one, you don't know how that person is living or what kind of circumstances they're in and they might really need that money; and two, I know if I lost money like that, I'd want someone to do the same thing for me, It's only right.
If it were up to me, I'd take the money and go buy some tacos. <3 Don't people always say, finders keepers, loser weepers? California is always a nice place to go too...Tacos and Cali, sounds good to me!(:
It depends on how much it is like if its 5 10 20 dollars id keep. But If its 98,000 dollars id probably do the same thing that dude did.
If I would find the person it belonged to, if they told me to keep it I'd give it to charity or give it to my father so he can afford his surgery. Unless it was stolen, before people do anything with the money I need to make sure it wasn't stolen.
The right thing to do would be to return the money, but if i bought something that was $38 and there was $38 I would give the money back not the thing I bought because that's my money gone.
If I happen to come across a bag full of money I would probably faint from exessive excitement! Wake up and scream "Im rich" but my sensitive heart would be full of guilt knowing its someone elses and i would return the money.
Although returning the money to the correct owner would be the right thing to do, i would probably keep the money. Whats the worst that can happen?
If I found a lot of cash I think I would probably would keep part of the money and give the rest back to the person I bought the item from. But, I would let the person know that since I found the money I get a fee.
Honestly, I would've kept some of it and gave the rest back to the owner.
I would keep it because i need some money. Parents these days wont give you their money because they always say that we need to get a job. What if we don't want a job. I could keep the money to help myself and others.
really!
oh come on
be nice and give the money back
or you could end up as a state prisoner
cameron you bought it so whats in it is yours and YOU don't go to JAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If i found cash i would like to keep it but i know that's a bad thing to do so i would return it to the owner.
Hi i'm Destiny,if i seen money i would have half then give the other half to them but then i would feel bad then but i would have save half then give the other half to the people i got it from.
I would give it back because it was there's first. I think that would be the right thing to do.I would at least find try to find the owner.
that's what I would do
I would probably return it.
I would return the money to its owner. If I lost money, I would want someone to return it to me as well. Treat others as you want to be treated
i would want to keep the money. However, i know what the right thing to do is and would have felt guilty keeping it. if that would have happened to me, i would have wanted them to return it. Honesty is always the best policy and could result in a greater reward by doing that.
if i would have found that money it would all be spen. They sent the money with the desk so thats their fault. i wpuld just take it as a gift from the people who sent it,i might send them a thank you card but thats about it. But i would be on a shopping spree with that money
I would call the former owner of who i bought the desk from. The owner couldve hid it there and was gonna use it at a later time and forgot about it. If i was to have lost it i would be upset and want someone to give it back to me. So i would give it back amd hope if it was to happen to me i would get the samething in return.
i would never have gave the money back. its good to see someone that would give it back. if i would have stashed that much money i would remember where i put it. like they say finders keepers.
There are several things I would do if I found money in a desk that I bought online. One thing is I would keep the money. If it was as much as they found at $98,000 I would not think twice to keep it. I would use this money for two main reasons. One is to help me with college. Another is to help my mom out with whatever she needs because she always bought me things when I wanted it.
why, that is considered STEALING
and you can go to jail for that
yes you may want the money but that is more than over a years average payroll in a job
think about it, would you like someone stealing your money because it was in a desk that they bought.
I would return the money to its rightful owner. You never kmow how bad they need the money. They could be in a very difficult sittuation and truley need it. It's the right thing to do and maybe if do return it, usually something good will come out of it. They might give you a portion of the money as a reward for returning the koney. plus you wouldn't have a guilty concious if you returned it.
If I would have found the money, I would be tempted to keep because there are a lot of ways to spend it (charity, family expenses, etc) but I would have done the right thing and called the original owner to see if it belonged to them.
I would have the money returned to the owner. It is nice to know that some people are still like that in our government. God Bless him and others like him.
If I had a stash of cash, you ask what would I do?
I'd give it to some needy men who were walking right on through.
For what else do I need; surely not material gain.
I would hate to see others having to live their lives in pain.
I would try to find the owner, but if I could not find them, I would donate it to food banks to help feed the hungry.
Well I would keep a bit. For the most part I would try to give it back.
If i would have bought the desk and found the money in the desk, i would keep it because, if you buy something you should get whatever comes with it
If i found that much money i would probably just give it back because thats somebodys life savings. and i wouldnt want to take that from them.
If I bought the desk from someone, I would give it back to the previous owner. Its not like you just found a one dollar bill on the ground.
I would give it back.... what if they were saving up for something and was hiding it so it won't get tooken and forgot it....how would you feel if all that money you saved got took and you had to start all over while other people are enjoying YOU'RE money
I would have gave it bavk to the people that the desk belonged to. But they could have kept it because they bought it nad they could have said no its our belongings
I would have called the owner and asked if they were missing the money and if they were I would have given it back to them.
I would call the original owner and ask if it was their money. If it was then I would simply give it to them without hesitation, but if it wasn't their money I would split it half and half with them because it would only be fair.
I would keep the money depending on how much there was in the desk.
I would keep the money and save it till I go to college and spend it on something good.
If I bought a desk technically I bought everything that comes with. I would have contacted the original owner if I had the right information. But if I didn't know the information or had no way to contact the original owner then I would have just kept the money.
I would probably keep it but it would all depend on how much it was. like if it was under $1000 I would probly keep it because they shouldn't have it in there if they are selling it so that would suck to be them...
I would want to keep it but it would be the right thing to do to give it back, but i would like something in return for giving them $98,000.
If i found some money like that, I would probably keep it because they should have known better. They apparently did not know how much money is worth. If they dont put it in a bank, they should have.
I would give the money back. I don't know what the moneys for it could be for something important I would never want to take that away from somebody.
Of course, i would return the money. I know that if I lost the money i would want it back. Same to this person who lost it. I would try my hardest to return the money to the rightful owner.
I would totally keep the money....sorry about your loss!
If I was To find the money i would keep it
what i hope i would do:give it back to the rightful owner
what id do: make it rain, make it rain
I would probably return it.
well I would try to find the owner, but if I could not find them, I would donate it to food banks to help feed the hungry
it was nice for the person to return the money but if it was me i would had kept it for myself an bought what i wanted
I mean if I had found the money I would have report it or send it back to whoever because if its not yours you shouldn't take it , but if nobody would say it was theirs I would but it towards college or something that I would need with that kind of money.
I diagree with that you should just save money for to mothns and then you will have the money.but i got to say i agree a litle bit with luke there's a diffrence with luke and samantha.
Honestly I would want to turn the money in to the owner of it, but then again I wouldn't. If someone left money in something I had bought, I'd just keep it. If the owner asked me about it I would actually turn it in.
If I found that money I would keep it with no hesitation. That's a lot of money! And people will lie and say its theirs when its not so I would keep it as my own blessing. Because I found it.
I'm just gonna be real about the situation If I bought something from someone and it contained $98,000 or even $100 I'm keeping it. I feel like I purchased it, therefore the money technically belongs to me. What I would do with the money would be good I mean I would help out anyone in need.
if that was me I would had gave it back but take a part of the money .
If I found the money I would return it to the owner because if I was to keep it I'd feel guilty and would've done told on myself .
If I couldn't locate the owner, I would donate the money to a charity. Always be honest. If you can't find a honest solution, donate the money to a better cause than to your own pocket.
-Brooke
if I had found money I would turn it in because it could be somebody's life.
If I found the money, I would save it for college or for gas for later on when start driving. Another way I could use it is to pay my bills for later on. I could use it for shopping but that would only be my "wants" its not a reallly a "need". Another way would be to put it in my bank account and save up on it. If I put much more thought in it I would donate it to the less fortunate or to a charity.
What I Would Do Is First try To Contact The Owner Of The Money Because It's Disprecpectful And A Shame To Keep Something That Doesn't Belong To You. You'll Probably Have A Gulity Concious If You Didn't Return The Money to The Owner. But If It Was That I Couldn't Find The Owner And I Know For A Fact That I Tried To Do All I Could To Contact The Owner And Give Them There Money Back Then Well I Would Donate The Money To Those Young Kids Who Are Sick (St. Jude Hospital) For Example. I Would Do Something That's Right With The Money.
If I couldn't find the owner, I would donate the money to a charity. Always be honest first. If you can't use honesty as a solution, donate the money to a better cause than to your own pocket.
If I found a stash of cash I would ask the owner about it. If the owner says it wasn't theirs I would ask the police if there were any reports of stolen money. If the money wasn't stolen, I would have kept it to use on some stuff I need and/or want.
It would be tempting to keep the money because $98,000 is ALOT OF MONEY! But I know I couldn't keep it with a good conscious so I would return it to it's owner.
I would be scared i would not know what to do
If i were to buy a desk and find $98,000 i would return the money to the rightful owner because just say what if the owner before they probably worked a lot to earn all that money and they were probably upset that they didn't know where it was
I would give half to the original owner because I did buy the object. It was on the owner for not checking to make sure that they gather all their own personal objects. I would split up the money evenly.
It depends on the amount of money to me. If it was like 5-10$ i don't think they would miss it as much. If it was 98,000$ that they couldn't find i would definitely call I couldn't take someones hard earned money like that!
i would keep it because it would make the owners of the money learn a lesson to be more pertective over their money.
I think I would have returned some of the money but keep some for myself to buy expensive things I want.
I would call the original owner, but what if the money didn't belong to them? I would see if they lost money and ask them how much money is in the bag and ask them what the bag looks like and if they answer right then I would give it to them.
If I found $98,000 dollars, I honestly don't know what I would do. The fact that the owner would be so negligent, and lose that large amount of money. Also the fact that keeping the money, is wrong. What would you do?
He did the right thing it is not nice to keep money that dose not belong to you.
I would find the owner and give it back.
I would be honest and return the money because she may have gone into a deep depression with her money
I would return the money, it's the good thing to do, and the person that lost the money probably needs it. It could be very important, and If I had just lost a lot of money I would want the person that found it to give it back. It's respectful, and very nice. 🙂
A first Ithink I would want to keep it for myself and pursue selfish desires, but the right thing to do is return the money to the people that it belongs to.
If i found out that the desk I purchased with my money had more than 50,000 i would believe its someone testing your honesty. Also it couldve been stolen money and they are in a way putting the stolen money in your hands. Lots of bad people out there.
I would try and contact the owner and return it. If I could not get in contact with them I would keep the money and buy stuff.
I would try to return it at first. If that did not work it would depend on where i found it. If I found it in a church or school I might would donate it. Though if I found it on the street and there was no way of finding the owner I would probably keep it.
I would return it to the owner. It isnt't mine.....it is theirs. If I were put in their shoes, I would want my money back. I would be very disappointed if I lost some money and later found out that someone found it and kept it for themselves.
i would most likely give the money back only because i would want someone to return mine if it was me. as my mom would say do unto others as you would want them to do to you.
Well to begin with, you should never take anything if it is not rightfully yours. It does not matter if it's just a dollar you should always return things. Something good can come out of returning this amount of cash in the future.
i personally would have kept the money and bought a really nice car
I would take the money and use it to further my life and career. This old saying started for a reason, “Finders Keepers, Losers Weepers.” Sounds to me like a good way to go.
i would give the money back. i would try to find the right owner. if icouldnt find the owner i would turn the money into the facilities lost and found desk or if it wasnt a lot i would keep it and do something useful with it.
if i found that much money many thoughts would run through my head. my family could really use that money and i could also give back to my community. but, i would search for the original owner because that is the right think to do.
If i found the money in the desk I would take $8,000 from the $98,000 and then try to find the owner of the money. If they asked where the $8,000 was, I would simply tell them, "I don't know."
If I came across a huge amount of money and I knew the owner, I'd give it back. I would feel guilty if I kept it. If I didn't know who it was, then I'd probaly keep it. Give half to charity and keep the other half for college.
I would want to keep it, but I know that it would be wrong. I would then return it if I could find the owner. If I wasn't able to find the owner I would keep some of it, but donate some to a charity depending on how much it is.
if she forgets where she puts 98,000 dollars then shes stupid and doesnt need the money anyway
I would give it back, because I think it would be the way to go because i would feel guilty and do it anyway.
I would do my absolute best to find the owner of the money. In the event I couldn't find the owner I would probably keep some of it, but give the rest to a charity or something.
i would probably give it back to the person i bought it from if i found out it was worth alot of money because it was theres and they have the right to get some of what its worth
I would keep the money. If the person lost the money and didn't know it was in the desk then they probably didn't miss it a whole lot. If I lost a hundred thousand dollars, which is kind of ridiculous anyway, I would probably look until I found it.
I had a friend take some money from me, and I was upset when she wouldn't give it back. He did the right thing. She should have given something back in return to show her appreciation.
If I found this kind of money I would have my hands tied. The good part of me would say take it back, if they don't want it then figure something out. The bad part would say keep it and use it for college! But if I had this much money in the first place and had I hid/wrongly placed whatever the situation may be and forget it, I would want my money back.
I would take the money and use it to further my life and career. The old saying started for a reason, “Finders Keepers, Losers Weepers.”
I would keep the money. I would of course donate some and the other money would be saved or put towards my collage education and housing.
If I found a stash of cash, I would call the owner and return it because that is the nice and respectable thing to do. If there was no way to contact the owner, I would keep a certain percentage for myself for college and then donate the rest to a charity to help people who need it more than I do.
If I found the money I would return it because it is a lot of money and the person probably worked very hard to get it. If I couldn't find the owner I would keep most of it but spread it out threw my family members who need it like my dad to pay his debt, or to my mom so she can get the help she needs.
If I found that sort of amount of money, i would do what they did. I would call and tell the previous owner what happened but if no one responded, I would donate the the relief efforts of the typhoon Hayian.
I would probably give it to charity, and might keep some of it
I would keep the money and i would then give it to all the people who are poor and then would donate some then buy a huge trampoline and foam pit in my backyard and do flips into it.
This story is one of millions. Somebody finds a dollar, or 98,000, and from then starts the dilemma. What's the right thing to do? If I found the money on the street, and had nobody to tell, I would keep the money and give to homeless and pregnancy shelters.
I'm not going to lie. If I found a stash of cash in a desk, I would keep it. I bought the desk so I own it now. So whatever they left in it is mine.
If i found the stash of cash in my new desk i would keep 1/3 of it then return the rest saying that is all that was in there
Honestly, I would keep the money and save it for college.
If I found that money, I would really want to keep the money. But I know that it is wrong, so I would give the money back to its rightful owner.
If I had nobody to ask if the money was theirs, I would keep it, and give to homeless shelters and teen pregnancy clinics.
I would give it back because it is the right thing to do why would someone keep that much money from someone.
I would have kept the money and spent it on a fat crib and a bugatti
I would keep the money so I can buy a nice crib and a new buggati, I follow the rule finders keepers.
I would try to find the owner to return it but if i couldn't find the owner i would keep half for college and then donate the rest to a charity where it's needed.
I would keep the money if I did not know who it belonged to.
I would try finding the owner, but if I couldn't I would give it to a cancer research center. My friend has cancer and this would help benefit her.
If i had a stash of cash, i would honestly send it back to the owner, because what if you loose that much money? and you don't get the money back from that certain person.
If I found that money, I would first contact the owner(s). If they didn't answer after several attempts, I would keep the money.
To Be Honest I Would Keep It At First But Then Guilt Would Build Up Inside Me And I Would Decide To Give It Back To The Actual Owner Because Even Though I'm Broke Its Still Their Money And They Deserve To Get It Back But Then Again I would Want To Keep It.
I would keep the money. Maybe I need it more than the owner does.
if i found a
lot of money i would return it because you could get a reward off of it.
If I found the money I would most likely give it back. An inheritance means a lot and I wouldn't wanna take that away from someone.
I would try to find the owner and return it because I would feel bad and guilty, but if I couldn't find them I would donate it to a charity.
I would return the money to its owner. I couldn't take the money knowing that its someone else's possession. I would rather feel proud that I returned something valuable to someone than keeping the money and feeling guilty about it.
That depends, I would give it back if i could, but if there was no chance of finding the owner, i would keep it, and if I did keep it I would probably donate most of it to charity.
I would return the money, its not my hard earned money, i don't deserve to keep it, they shall have it returned
Well I would be honest to give it back to the person it's rightful owner is who the cash belongs to.Say if you were in that place were you misplaced thousands of dollars how would you feel.I would make the right choice and give it back knowing that I made a righteous choice.
I need money. Who's to tell me finders keepers, losers weepers, isn't a rule?
I would give must of the money back and keep the rest of it so i could buy what ever i what with it.
I would give the money back. Common courtesy tells me that is right.
I would want to keep it because if you sell something to someone, and then you buy it, then after you bought it you found
the money its automatically yours. Its her fault she didn't check to make sure everything is out of the drawer before somebody bought it! Plus would wouldnt want to keep $8900 as some fun money?! ahaha
if you know who's it was you should return it, but if you have no idea who's it was then you can keep it because you cant help that you don't know who it was.
Return the money, I don't need it. I have a nice family and nice things
I would give it back but i would still ask for some because although its theirs its worth a shot.
Everybody wants money, but you are honorable if you do what is right.
I would keep half and give the other half to the actual owner. What I would do with the money I kept would be donated to charity
I would keep it because the rule IS finders keepers loser well you just lose
I would keep it if I did not know who the money belonged to. But if I knew I would give it back.
Guilt would make me give the money back.
I would give it back because it is theirs and if it was mine i would be sad to lose it
I would keep the money but donate to a worthy cause. If someone wanted that money, they would have been responsible enough to keep track of it.
If I had found $98,000 in cash I would call the person and tell them that I had it and return it to its rightful owner.
If I found a cash stack like that my first thought would be to keep it imagining everything I could do with that money although it would be nice eventually I would feel wrong so I would return it to its rightful owner.
I would have kept the money. After that I would of have bought the worlds biggest flatscreen, then I would of bought the PS4 and Xbox 4. If the person really cared about the money then they should of not put it in the drawer in the first place. If had any money left over I would buy a whole game stop!!!!
It takes a onest person not to feed in to the temtation i would have had to give it back because i would put my self in there shoes.
if i were to find a stash of money i would automatically return that money to that person who it belongs to. because if i was to lose my cash then i would wan,t someone to be honest with me and return my money back that i saved up.
i would give it back because what if i was in there shoes i wouldn't want anyone to keep my hard earn money.
If I found that amount of money in a desk I would most likely give the money back to the person I got it from because I do not know what the money has been used for or the money could have been used for bad things. So I would just send it back to the person I got it from
If I knew the owner then I would give it back but other than that I would keep it.
I would keep the money. If you tell the previous owner that you found several thousand dollars in the desk, of course they are going to say it's theirs.! There really isn't a way to know if the money truly belongs to them.
I would have tried to contact the owner, so I could give the money back. I would have felt terrible if I had kept it.
I won't lie. I would want to keep the money for myself and help my family out, but i could never live with the guilt that I took someone's inheritance money and that it was all they had. I would have done the same thing that the rabbi did because that is the most honest and nicest way to do
I would put the in a bank account and save it for college or something that was needed.
I would keep the money IF the owner told me how much it was and it wasn't correct.
If I came across that big amount of money I'd try to find the owner of the money but then again I feel that if they didn't examine the item before selling it on Craigslist then I feel that, that was really irresponsible of the seller.
If I found money in anything previously bought from someone, I wouldn't return it for a reward or 5 minutes of fame, but because it would be what I would hope someone would do to me if I sold something with my cash-stash hidden in it! 🙂
I would keep it of course! ...Just kidding. I wouldn't be able to keep all of that money because I would always feel guilty when I spend it. Plus, the person that lost all of that money wouldn't be having a very nice day, would they? I would give it back to them, because come on man, that's just the right thing to do!
i honestly would give the money back to them because i would just waste it if i kept it and anyways ill get a bit of the money because i returned it to the rightful owner
I would have gave them the money back to the owner. But if I could not reach the owner I would give some for the money to charity and pay for my collage.
If i found the money i would keep it and save up for something.
It would probably be a long and confusing situation. Last time I found money, I saw the person who dropped it and chased after them. However, with an amount that large, I'd keep it, feel guilty about it, decide to give it back, then procrastinate. After a while, when I remember about it anyways, I'd ask my mom for advice and go from what she says I should do.
The most mature and adult thing to do is return the money. It could have been very important for bills or a life savings and not returning it could really hurt their life if it was very needed.
I would give it to the person that lost it because who know what kind of problem there in and why they have it hidden. If it were me that lost it I would what someone to return it to me and I don't think its the right thing to do because they might be saving the money for something important like college,a car,new house, or a bill for something.
I would try to contact or find the owner, But if I couldn't find them then I would split the money to several charities.
Okay, so I personally would have kept the cash because I mean THAT much money!? I would also keep it because finders keepers losers sweepers right? But, I can also see why they would turn in the money to the original owner because it is the right thing to do because they won it.
I would contact the previous owner of the object and if they do not claim the money, I would save the money for a college education or store the money into my banking account.
I would not take it
I think this was noble. Personally I would have been like its mine now unless she asked for it other way I would have keep it and had fun
I would do the same as they did like today a person gave me an extra dollar so i gave it bake
if I had found money that was in an item that someone sold to me I would .call the person that sold the item to me and if they don't claim the money I will take it to the police
I would probably think of all the things I could get with the money. Then do the right things by finding the previous owner, make sure that they ARE the owner of the money. if they are the owner then give it to them. If NOT then the authorities would take over.
i would of kept and donated some of it to kids and people that needed it.. : }
well I don't really think I would have gave the money back to the owner I would have kept it. and spent it but I probley would feel bad about making money by luck.
If I found a big stash of cash, I would probably return because it is the right thing to do and who knows, it could be being watched....
I would give it back but I would also take some because I found it, I mean why wouldn't I?
I think he did the right thing by trying to find the owner. He will get rewarded in the long run for having much honesty.
If i found that much money in something like that i would keep it you snooze you lose.
I would save the money and claim to be very lucky. I would put it towards college and a vehicle. If it wasn't meant to be, then I would never have found the money.
try and find the owner of I don't find them give some to charity and spend some of it and put the rest up
If u buy the desk and the money's with it you get the money to
I would not give it back
I know that a lot of people say they would give the money back, the reality is in this day's society they probably wouldn't.
I would return the money because i would not like for some else to keep my money and I am sure that no one would like to keep another money so why would you do it.
If I found all that money I would give it to the person who owned it just like they did.
After we watched the news we talked about this in class and some kids in my class thought it was very weird have $98,000 in a desk and not somewhere safe. Don't you think that the person cleaned the desk and don't you think they would notice that. But in the end it was very nice that the couple gave the money back to the owner.
it is someone elses life savings i would definitely not keep it, that would be wrong.
I would not keep i would return it i belive in bad karma it would just be like haunting me.
well when me and my family talk about bad stuff that happens in schools what comes up is columbine (trench coat mafia) it was a horrible day for america sometimes when I'm walking around my school and see people without passes i just get scared that something might happen i don't want to fell like that i would like to walk around and know I'm safe.
I would try to call up the owner if i could but if i couldn't i would donate most of it to homeless people and hungry kids. I would also save some for myself for college
I would keep it if its not much if its more than 10$ i would try and find the owner
I would keep the money and use it for my football equipment ( Cleats, gloves and Visor etc.)
i think you should give the money back because it could have been stolen anput in the desk
i would keep the stack if someone lost it its their loss
I would call the owner before me and see if it was hers and if it wasn't i would give some to charity and keep the rest for important emergencies
I would call the previous owner and tell them that I had their money and that I was going to return it, but if it was a couple dollars i probably would have kept it.
If I found the stash I would return it because it was a lot of money, but if it was just a single one hundred dollar bill I would keep it.
If it was just a small amount I would keep it but if it was how much that guy found I would return it. That money was the original owners life.
personally if it was only a few hundred i would keep it, with it in the thousands i would frantically search for the right owner.
I would return that much money but if it was just a 100 dollar bill i would keep it
I would give thmoney back to the owner
If I had bought that desk, and found that money, at first I would be shocked. Most likely want to keep it too, though, if it were me, after the shock and thinking, I would call and return the money.
I would try to find the owner and if I couldnt I would go to the police to see if they could help me find the owner and if i couldnt i would give some away to charities and i would keep the rest for me and my family.
I think that I would've returned the cash if it was that much money. If I wouldve lost the money, I would want the person to give it back to me if they found it. 🙂
honestly i would have kept it becUse my family is poor. that would have gottenus meals and bills payed for at least 2 yars(i would invest it on stock) but if we did get it i would use it wisely.
exuse my spelling (mobil device and all)
i would give the money back. I beleive that if i kept that it would be like stealing and then i would feel horrible. as soon as i found that much money i would be on the phone as fast as i found it. unless it was a small amount of money i would maybe keep it.
I would try to find the owner and give the money back.
i would give it back because thats a lot of money and it could of been stolen or the owner had it in the desk for a certain reason and forgot about it,lk,e that owner had it from inheritance and hid
I would first try to find the owner but if I couldn't I would give some to charity and save the rest for college.if I found the owner I would give the money back.
I wou.d have kept some of it like $800 and gave the $90,000 back to them because its theirs and not mine someone would have stolenit and put it in their and sold it to her and she could just be saying its hers when its really not.
I would take it back to the owner because it is the right thing to do.
I would be tempted to take the money, but would think about the burden of spending that money. I would be very shocked about finding any amount of money, but would be just as excited to tell the person I would feel happy that I changed someones life.
I would need to process it at first. Then I would try to give it to the owner or to a suitable charity to benefit communities in the area if I cannot contact or find the owner.
it actualy depends,if it was given to me i would invest it in college and phone plans,a car maybe but if i found it i would totally try to find the owner if i couldn't i would put it to good use.
If i was them and i opened the desk and found 98,000 dollars i would keep it. if the person selling the desk doesn't check everything and pull everything out before selling the desk its their loss.
I would really be shocked and i think its a great think that he did for her.I don't think i would be able to give it back.Even though it wouldn't be the wrong thing to do.But who would think that someone would forget wear they put 98,000 dollars.I know i wouldn't.
If I was the one who had found that money i might not have know what to do. Eventually I would have called the owner of the desk or whatever it was and met them somewhere to give them their money back. If they would have told me to keep it I would tell that it is their's and I don't want it.
If I found that much money in a desk sold to me, I would think about keeping it at first but the inner good in me would recommend giving it back to the owner. If I couldn't return the money to the owner, I would donate it to the local Cupboard and Closet to help people who actually need it.
Well, if I'm being honest with myself, my first thought would be, "I'm gonna go buy me some stuff!" But then I'd feel guilty and I'd try to figure out if I could somehow decipher to whom it belonged, and if I couldn't, I'd probably end up keeping it because, while I'd love to be all nice and responsible, times are hard and I am more broke than Humpty Dumpty. (I'd probably still feel really guilty, though, because that person is probably missing their money. I don't blame them.)
If I found a stash of cash, I would probably just stand and stare at it for a while until I registered the shocking truth! Even though the temptation to keep the cash would be great, keeping the money would be the same as stealing it, so I would give it back to its original owner.
I would definitely give the money back I wouldn't even have to think twice about it. That is a big amount of money and if I kept it it would be considered a form of stealing and stealing is wrong
I think that if I found a 'Stash of Cash' I would try and find the owner. It would be respectful to return the money. You have to be trusting in that person. People should be honest, and not say, "Oh! That's mine!" When it really isn't!
I would do exactly what the man did. Call the owners, and tell them I have their money by accident. I would then meet them, and give it back. If they didn't want it, then it would all go to charity, or to local schools.
I would try find the owner of the money so I could give it back but if I couldn't then I would keep a little for myself and donate the rest of the money to charities or food banks.
If I found a large amount of money I don't think I could take it. Despite the temptations, it would not feel right to. Even if I did end up taking the money, I would feel regret and I probably wouldn't let myself spend it. I would end up calling the owner of the money to give it back to them.
If it were something that were invaluable, such as some silverware, I would most likely keep it or donate it to some place such as Goodwill. But, if it were cash I would have done the same thing. It's not like $98,000 magically appear in your bank, so it would be better to come straightforward and do the right thing.
Honestly, I'd want to keep it. Who wouldn't? But I'd try to find the owner. If I couldn't, then I'd donate it to some good non-profit organization, so I wouldn't feel bad.
I would try and find the owner and give them their money. If i really couldn't find them i would hand the money out to my family. With the money left over i would give it to a homeless shelter.
I would like to say I would give all the money back and be honest with the person, but I honestly wouldn't know what to do with it. There's a possibility that I would give back all the money back or I would keep some and give the owner 90% of the money back. I know I wouldn't keep the money for myself to keep. I would feel too guilty for doing something like that.
Though i would be shocked at first, i would reach into my pocket and call the original owner and explain what I found. And at the end of the day I could live in pride not shame.
i would love to have a stash of cash
I would have kept it. And I do not believe it was her inheritance. I mean you just don't forget about 98,000 dollars. Maybe 10 dollars or so but not 98,000 dollars.
I would return the money to the rightful owner because its the right thing to do in that kind of situation.
I would keep the money because they sold the desk with out checking to make sure you got all of your stuff out of it before selling it so that`s on the parson who sold it with out checking it
I would keep it he bought it so it rightfully his to keep.
Thats like pocket change to me so i would give it back to them ten fold
You always give money back. No matter how small the amount. Its important to be a good citizen and have lots of integrity. But you have to make sure you give it back to the right person and not someone who just claims its theirs. If its a lot of money you should make sure it gets to the right person.
I would keep the money he bought the desk so the money is his to keep.
If i would of found it i would of took a finders fee like about 3000. I know it is wrong but it is a lot better then taking all of it. But before i gave it back i would call the owner and asked if they lost something in the desk if they said yes i would ask how much money was it if he/she said the amount i would give it to them.
I would want to keep the money, but I know that wouldn't be the right thing to do, so I would return it to the owner.
I would call the last owner and tell them that i had found there money... but if i didn't succeed in finding the owner of the money i would turn the money over to charity or a local food bank for people to have food or clothes.
I think the Jewish guy did the right thing and I would probably do the same if I was him.
if there was a stack of money in a desk.
i am a life scout and being one i would return it back to the owner like in the video, its just the right thing to do.
If i found a bag of money i would most likely give it back because the gilt i would have. While watching the news it was a little weird. why would someone forget where they left 98,000 dollars.
If I had found the cash I would have gave it to the own of the desk. It is a wonderful thing to know that people can trust you.
I would call the original owner and ask if they known about this and I would of returned the money.I would feel bad the rest of my life if I had kept that money.
If I ever found that much amount of money I would be shocked and surprised about how much money would be in there but I would find the owner as soon as possible because I don't want to be the next one to lose the money.
if i found money i would take half of it the take the rest to the police
I would try to give it back if i could but i'm not going to go far just to give it back to that person , after all they did leave it in the desk i bought so technically everything in the desk is mine.
I would use the money to help people in need. But if i found the owner then I would give it back to them because its theirs not mine
i think that it was a good idea to give the money back because it would be steeling if they did not give it back so good job of giving the money back
Honestly I would keep it, if it was a lot of money then i doubt that someone would just forget about it.
I would definitely give the cash or the idem back to its original owner because who knows if they were poor and didn't have anything left and if you took that from them then you basically took everything from that person.
I'd only give it back because the owner might think I stole it.
I would find the owner. If not then donate it to the people that need it.
if i found all that money, i would return it but, what if they lied n it wasn't there's? 😮
If I found the money at first I would be shocked more than anything. If I found that it was 98,000 in the desk me, my family and friends would split up all the money.
Put yourself in their shoes, how would you feel if you just lost a lot of money like that? I don't know about you but I would feel terrible. So I would give it back.
If it were me finding all that money, I would talk to the owner to see if I could keep some of it as an award for finding it. Then if she were to let me keep some I would maybe ask for somewhere in between 5 or 10 thousand; then give the rest to back to her.
I would probably keep it,Because they left it in there, its their fault for doing so.Why return what they forgot about in the first place?
It wouldn't be right to ask for some of the money, or take it without telling them. We shouldn't receive recompense for things that should be the norm.
I would give half the money back and keep the other half and put it in my savings account. After all I bought the desk and everything that was inside it.
I personally think that it was kind of suspicious that the person just forgot 98,000 dollars of pure cash in a desk. I mean, if I ever put that much money in a desk I would never forget about it. So I think I would've asked a couple of questions before just giving the money "back".
When something like that happens, there isn't much you can do accept return what isn't yours.
I'd give her half of the money, and who about forgets 98,000 dollars? They bought it so whats ever in the desk is theirs. She should be so grateful that they had the heart to give it back.
Even though I think it is very strange that she forgot about 98,000 dollars,I would probably give it back because she has been saving it up probably her whole life. The money might have been for something very important,so I would return the money back to it's original owner.
I would keep all dat money... I aint givin nuthin back
Thats irresponsible
i would call the person i bought the desk from and ask them if it was theirs and if it was i would give it back but if it wasn't i would keep it.
It would be ok to keep it if it was $5 or $10 but that's a lot of money. I would really give it back.
I would probably return it to the rightful owner because it is just the right thing to do. How would you feel if you lost 98,000 dollars I mean it's the golden rule do onto others as you want them to do onto you.
I think it was the right thing to do. I would have done the exact same thing. I think most people would have just kept the money and never even tell anyone about it.
I think he did the right thing. If he saved that much money he would want it back.
I would return the money even though it is tempting to keep it.
In the case of finding that much money, if I knew who the owner was I would give it back. Though, if I hadn't known whose it was there is no way of finding out because anyone could say, "Yes, it's mine." So, in that case of not knowing I would donate it instead.
I probably would have done the same thing but questioned myself a little more
I think giving the money back was the right thing to do mostly because they knew how to contact them and meet them if i didn't know that information I would have kept the money my self.
I think that no matter what the amount of cash was in the desk it should be given back to the rightful owners, because they may have just made a simple mistake and are probably missing the money really bad. In this economy you can't afford not to give it back because that family might need the money really, really bad.
The majority of this world would have kept the money without having said anything. I, however would've felt very selfish and guilty of doing so. Whoever would keep the money, just know that karma will catch up to you.
If I were them I would give the money back because that is the right thing to do. If I were to do that the owner would probably be very thankful and may or may not share the cash with me 🙂
The mature and responsible thing to do is to give it back. Someone spent there life saving up for that, how would you like it if someone took your life savings? I would do the right thing and give it back.
If I found that much money I would give it to the police because people don't always tell the truth unfortunately. The police would be able to find out if the money is really there's.
I would have defiantly gave the money back to the person because it is wrong to keep something that is not yours and that much money is defiantly not yours. It is the honest, truthful, most trustworthy way to go.
I would have been shocked at first but, I would feel very guilty keeping it. I would call back the owner and give him/her their money back. I wouldn't even keep a cent. I would return all $98,000 of it. 🙂
If I found a large amount of money in something I just bought from someone I would give the money back to its real owner. If I didn't give it back I would feel really bad.I know that if I sold something with money in it I would want someone to return the money and if they did I would possibly give them some of the money for doing the right thing.
I would go to the police first (just in case it had to do with criminal activity). If the money was clean, but a small amount, maybe up to a couple hundred dollars, I would keep it. If it were more such as this case in which it was 98k, i would give it back to the owner.
If I had found that much money I probably wouldn't know what to do as soon as I found it! I would probably give it back to its rightful owner.
I totally, totally think that you should return the money. I mean wouldn't you want the money if you lost it, duh?
i would give it back. Though the money may be useful when paying for college, it would not be mine and it would not be right, and dont you think someone whould find it suspicious that you magically gained $98,000?
Well if I bought something then legally all of it is mine right? Just kidding, of course I would call the owner and figure it out. If for some reason I couldn't find him I would probably give the money to charity.
In my opinion, it was a great idea to return it. It'snot right to keep things that aren't yours. Besides, Imagine if that was your money being stolen. You would want it back right?
i would probably give it back to the owner but say i had only found 68,000
If kids would find money, they'd either Keep it or return it. I would return it, since it really doesn't belong to me, even if I "bought it".
If i found a whole bunch of money like that i would give it back. But like 50 or lower than a 100 i would keep it but it was so much.I would have done the same as he did.
