After he reportedly admitted to Oprah Winfrey that he used performance-enhancing drugs, cyclist Lance Armstrong is taking a beating by the public. Some of his former fans feel misled at best - furious at worst. Critics are calling him everything from a loser to a liar. He does have his defenders, many of whom are pointing to his Livestrong Foundation and its work to raise money for cancer research. But by and large in the court of public opinion, his reputation is seeing its worst days.
Do you think the public will ever forgive Armstrong? And do you think it should?
Carl Azuz, Anchor
I think he done the wrong thing for using those drugs I believe if your good at something then you shouldn't need something even better and he lied and said that he didn't but really he did because he admitted it but alot of people have so i think they will forgive him.
what if he never did dope maybe he just said that to get everything all over with it and not have people accuse him
i think that it wasn't fair to the people who didn't win because if Armstrong cheated, then they really did win
HE IS A BALL HOG
He became honest at the end but should've never told a lie. I don't think the public should forgive him for what he did.
=)
ya but he made a mistake, and so did you, you were forgiven, right?
I mean you have made a mistake once in your life.
I agree
I agree but i think they should give him more than a second chance
I know right poor thing he dont deserve it ^-^!!!!!!!!!!!
seriously i mean i know that but i mean dont hate a person to not forgive every desrves a second chance
I dont think the public will ever forgive him. Because we gave him our trust and disrespected all of us. I don't think he deserves to be forgiven either because he led us on for a really long time thinking he was fantastic. I also don't Livestrong should have to suffer because of this.
i agree with you. you said what i wanted to say and also if your good at something you don't need drugs or any thing like that.
I think the public will forgive him eventually, but I think they shouldn't. He posed as a role model and hero to many cancer patients by surviving the cancer then winning all those titles. Then to find out he has been doping crushed the dreams of many cancer survivors. That's just unforgivable.
Yes, you're right. I very much agree. He inspired many; it's unbelievable that he actually did this. Hard to sink in...
He didn't "crush the dreams" of cancer survivors...the fact that Lance survived cancer hasn't changed at all. He is STILL a cancer survivor.
I think that Armstrong should be forgiven, I think that everyone deserves a second chance. The public is being a bit harsh, but maybe that will teach him a very good lesson.
Thank you i agree your correct
Yea I agree I still look up to him the Armstrong name is in American history. It is wrong but hey everyone makes mistakes, honestly I would stil ask for a autograph from him
I totally agree with you, Katie. I think public will be see all aspect of problems, not just one. They need see what he done with all people was fighting with cancer, and help them have on dreams. The cheating only a mistake, so we can forgive him about that.
OR it could teach kids that if they want to be sports superstars, they have to use steroids. I'm not going to forgive him.
):(
I think you are right, but he should still be punished.
You are extremely right. Everyone deserves a second chance!
Although he raises fund for the cancer, he got the money in not so good way. It also harmed other fair-riders who were practicing hard for the race. But still, regarding his good work to the society, I think we should punish him less harshly.
I think they should forgive him because he helped people with cancer.
yes they should but they don't have proof. So you got to forgive. Honestly you can't jude him. SO AMERICA SHOULD FORGIVE!!!!!!!!
I honestly think that Armstrong will be fizzled out of the public eye after this, and won't really be mentioned again. As for the public forgiving him, that seems highly unlikely. I do believe, though, that everyone deserves a second chance, even a person who cheated to get to where he is.
No. They won't and they shouldn't! Why should they let him go? That would be encouraging other players to do what he did. He definitely a dishonest cheater, who could have told the truth in the first place.
Lance Armstrong should have told the truth to begin with. He thought winning was even more important than having true fans, not fans who think you are someone you are not. Sure, everyone makes mistakes and we DO forgive them, but the thing that we should not forgive him for is being untruthful and not admitting his mistakes. Somebody could have really worked to win Tour de France or other races, and he the only work he did was dirty work. He disappointed many fans, including me.
i think he should have known that he would not always get off the hook, you do the crime you do the time
i believe armstrong did wrong but you have got to think about it from his view. he probably thought he had no chance in the tour de france after cancer and maybe he was trying to inspire other people with cancer. he did wrong but there may be 2 sides to this story
I agree, put yourself in Armstrong's shoes and try and think about what YOU would've done.
Wow, I never thought about it that way! Smart... 🙂
Yes I think the public will forgive Armstrong even if he did it.
No, I do not think the public should forgive Armstrong for lying to them directly for ten years. I don't think it will forgive him.
I agree Adeena.
I think with all other celebrities who commit scandals, he will eventually be forgiven. However, I don't think he ever will make a positive comeback.
No since he has lied for so many years and won the Tour The France Seven Times while using performance enhancing drugs.
A Tour de France cheater shouldn't be forgiven.
Yes. For example look at the baseball players who took durgs. We forgave them.
I think public will be forgive for him, because the Livestrong Foundation has done for every cancer person. Any one can make a mistake, not except with him. I very shock after hearing his admit using doping for a long time. His conscience will be ashamed and guilty by what he has done , so we do not need to put any pressures on him.
I don't think the public will forgive him. Lance has made such an image of himself as a moral hero that it is not acceptable that he is forgiven easily, if at all. For more than a decade he created an elaborate lie, while tugging on America's heart strings.
While I do think it's wrong to cheat in sports, one must pay notice to all the good that he has done for cancer awareness. He has done a great thing with his foundation despite what he has done on the track.
He didn't race on a track, he raced on a road.
I believe the public eventually forgive Armstrong. We are often quick to judge, yet before judging others, we should look at our own actions. It's not our place judge when we all lie and make mistakes. All we can do is hope he learned from those mistakes and that he betters himself from it.
The public should forgive Armstrong. He works for raising money for cancer. By the way, he already is banned from participating in cycle racing for a year. He wil have enough punishments soon. So, the public should forgive Armstrong.
I think that Armstrong should not be forgiven. It seemes unfair to other cyclists that Armstrong is forgiven just because he had had cancer. In front of justice, every one is the same, and I think the people's forgiveness will not help him learn his lesson.
yes public should him because every body make mistakes
yes they should cuz he's the best of the best
I think that they will forgive him. because when time pass they all forget about him and allow him to play the game again. And also amstrong himself will repent and never take performance- enhancing drugs.
I don't think that Armstrong will ever be forgiven by the public. He basically lied to everyone. He was the inspiration to many, and he has let them down.
I really respected this man. But, after all that's happened now...it's just a real shame. I thought he was a hero for over coming cancer and then winning all of these awards, but now I'm just disapointed. 🙁
It is really hard to judge that Armstrong can be forgiven by the public. It is because that he cheated in race but also he established his own charity to help people in need. Even though it is hard to decided, I choose not forgive him.
No they shouldn't forgive him becouse what he did was wrong
It's a huge diapointment to the public. What bothers us the most is that he lied for so many years and finally owns up to his mistakes. We hope he can make up for what he did. Love you Carl.
I think he used Performance Enhancing Drugs in the first place because he made winning the Tour De France look easy.
He didn't make the Tour look easy, if you watched the our you'd know that it isn't easy, even with drugs.
I do not approve of doping because he won tour de France 7 years in a row using steroids and no one else had a chance and I dont think that the public will ever forgive him
I am truly disappointed. I love biking and Lance seemed pretty cool. I hope that this is a lesson to other athletes never to dope. I saddens everyone and ruins your life.
I hope the public does forgive Armstrong, because I think even for all the lying he's done, He's still a nice guy.
I think the public wouldn't forgive Armstrong because he lied to everyone, and they may believe that whatever he says is not true. So no one would even pay attention if he says sorry or not.
Whatever the results, I think that he took a mistake.
The person who uses a drug for any reasons is a deviant from the society.
Now that the public starts changing the perspective against him.
If steroids are illegal for athletes then Photoshop should be illegal for models
i think its right what they did to him and i dont think no one will forgive him
I think on one will forgive him because he won 7 titles and he doped so i won't forgive him.
No I don't think the public will forgive him. No it should not forgive him, because he ruined the chances for a lot of peoples dreams that could have won the race.
I think he should have just come clean and people would not hate him so much now.
i think that he is a big fat lier how could he lie to all these people it really stupid that he just now admited it he sould have never lied in the first place he should ahve said he did drugs
i think people will forget about him because what he did was wrong !
I think that the public shouldn't forgive him because everybody thought he was a hero, but it turned out that he was cheating and lying the whole time.
yes i think its perfect for you to do that because he is the one that lied to all of us and up for doing everything i don't even want to hear his name again.
I think nowadays a lot of professional athletes use performance-enhancing drugs, and to critique Lance Armstrong is no different than taking away a baseball players World Series title.
Well at on one point they will but he lied to them and its going to be hard to forgive him.
I think that it is so sad. My 1st grade teacher went to see him race, and got me an autographed picture. I can not belive that he has been lying all these past 10 some years.
i think that other take drugs in bycycleing to so i think that he should be able to get back into bycycleing .
I doubt that the world will let him off that easy. And that we should not let him off the hook. He should get arrested.
I don't think people should be mad at him. I think he's innocent. Sure, he had pleaded guilty, but after years of fighting, eventually you get tired of it, and you might as well just admit to something and hope you get off easier than you did when you were saying otherwise.
I think the public will refuse to forgive Lance, because he touched to many hearts who then got lied to for many years.I don't blame them... if you win something as big as the Tour de France seven times by cheating... he's not a loser he is less than that he's dirt.
I think Armstrong should be forgiven because he has learned his lesson. not being able to be in professional bike racing for the rest of his life is a harsh punishment.
I don't think the public shouldn't be forgive him.. Because he waited too long to tell the truth.
I don't think the public will. He became an advocate for living life in the most positive and clean ways, all the while using performance enhancing drugs. Why would they forgive him? He not only lost his titles, but everyone's trust.
i dont think he should ever be trusted agian. he lied to us for 10 years so why should we suddently trust him when he told the truth only once.
I think the public should forgive him because he is raising money for cancer.
i disagree because those drugs were elligal so he cheated
I think that this situation is wrong. Young kids look up to people like Armstrong and he is setting the "If you cheat you will win." Example. He cheated and lied. I don't think that he should be forgiven. His consequences should stay intact. A cheater is always a cheater.
Armstrong had his chance to tell the truth several times, but he didn't, he just continued to lie. For that reason, I think it's going to take a while for the public to forgive him.
I THINK NOBODY WILL FORGIVE HIM BECAUSE HE LIED AND LIED AND LIED AND LIED AND LIED AND LIED AND LIED AND LIED AND LIED. HE CHEATED AND LIED! NOBODY WILL FORGIVE HIM NOW!!!!!
AND HE USED ILLEGAL DRUGS
woah bro calm down
I forgave him, so you are wrong in saying he will never be forgiven. also, I'm sure you have lied before, and did someone forgive you? proble
I wouldn't be on his side only because he let down his team mates and did something wrong
I don't think they should forgive him because he used dope
I thought that he was a honest person but some times things aren't what they seem and I will never forgive him .
I think that the people will not for give him. And I think that they should not forgive him. The reason is because he won 7 tour de France medals. And when he won them and people asked it he used performance enhancing drugs he kept on denying it .
I think it's such a shame that students look up to these professional athletes, who in turn end up lying to the public. Armstrong was asked numerous times over the years, and he could have come clean then. But instead he continued to pretend that he won the races on his own accord. It's time that these men in power stop misusing it, and deliberately lying to the public who have supported them all these years. What we need are honest, morally responsible people to look up to, instead of overpaid, corrupt sports stars....
I think that Armstrong should not be forgive very easily because if you lie for ten years and win seven of the biggest bike races in the world in a row and lie about it than they should give him a good lesson.
i think he deserved to have his pervious wins revoked as the other bikers who came in second should get there winnings
that does happen
I think that this is awful that he lied about this for about a decade. Children and some adults look up to him and he has let them down by doing this. He could have come clean in the beginning when they asked him. Now he has been banned from bicycling professionally forever.
I think that things like that should be DESTROYED because people cheat. When people cheat they lie I know.
I think that it was horrible for this man to have been lying for twelve years about not taking drugs. Its just awful for these kids/teens to have been admiring him while he was lying to the whole world.
I think Lance Armstrong was wrong and he has just flushed his career down the toilet!
I think what Armstrong did was wrong. I do dont get me wrong but everyone makes their mistakes. Everyone messes up and I think that they deserve a second chance. I think Lance Armstrong does too. Yeah he messed up, he may or may not have smoked dope, but that isnt exactly new in our world. There are probably tons of athletes that have smoked, but they are still participating in sports.I think Armstrong should be given another chance. I think that we should forgive Armstrong. He messed up but who hasnt? I bet there are alot of his fans that have smoked it as well and they are getting mad at him for it?! Sorry but thats hypocritical. But I think they public should forgive him. He messed up, but who hasn't. I dont think there is a person that could honestly say that they have never messed up except for God. Thanks for reading this! From McKenna
no because he lied to everyone.
I personally think that he should be forgiven just because he said he used drugs maybe he was using them for a different purpose like us we use things for different purposes. They will forgive him he just needs to lay low for a while because something new will happen to someone famous and make a big deal about it. The public was just making a big deal about what he said he used.
Yes, I think that they should forgive armstrong because if i have learned any thing its that you should always give someone a second chance
I think it was kind of immature to cheat during the Tour De France, but it was really immature to not fess up right away. If he was mature, he would have owned up before he won his next title, or the title after that, etc. I'm not saying I would want to confess, because that means stripping of the titles, but I would want to actually earn my title, rather than having it practically placed in the palm of my hands. In my opinion, it's almost cowardly, and it's certainly unfair to the other athletes. I believe we should eventually forgive him, I mean, we all make mistakes, and being stripped of the titles, and being banned from cycling for life, is pretty harsh, and I think that's enough punishment.
I think that they should forgive him and it is just a race and it does not matter.
I believe that is is wrong for Lance Armstrong to lie about doping during the Tour de France. He denied that he was doping and then he confessed , so why did he deny in the first place about doping. I believe that it is wrong that he doped but we still have to forgive him someday even for what he did.
What Armstrong did isn't necessarily new. Most likely there are hundreds or thousands of other cyclists using dope (not to mention other sports). We should think for a second. If you could win the Tour de France even once while using dope, I think that most people (if not all) would jump on that opportunity. We should cut him a little slack. We need to look at the good things he has done in his life, like Livestrong. He should be recognized for that. I think we should get over it. It happened and you can't change it.
I think that eventually most people will forget, but there are going to be some people that may never, like the people that he betrayed, or the people that came in second in all the races that he did. He ruined peoples lives, and some are never going to forget it.
Hi i think that all of ex-fans should be mad because he did not actually earn by himself but with improvement enhancing drugs, and that all of his previous rewards and earnings should be taken away and given to the person got second in which rate
i think that Armstrong did dope up on the drugs and he is a loser and a liar because he could have told the truth but instead he decided to lie and say he didn't dope up yet we now know for a fact he did dope up on drugs
Why would this guy use drugs hes a liar and a loser like who does that after he said he didnt!!!!?
he was an inspiration and a hero for saving cancer patients now that he did drugs he's not a hero or an inspiration
I think that Lance should be shunned by the public. He doesn't deserve his titles since he lied. He should have come clean in the first place and doesn't deserve them anymore.
I didn't hear of him till now but for using drug to win is just sad
I personally think that the public should ever forgive him because he has lied to everyone for seven years. If they do forgive him it will be a big mistake. He does NOT deserve to get the same respect that all of us gave him.
I think that the public won't forgive Lance Armstrong because he lied. But I do think they should forgive him.
i think they should forgive him because he he told the truth instead of lying to get it off his mind
I don't think the public will and shouldn't forgive him for what he did. He cheated and he knew he was, yet he kept denying that he hadn't.
I think that he should not have done that and that he should have admitted the first time but I think everyone deserves second chances.
I don't think they should because he was hiding it and didn't say it until now.
I do not think he should even be on television he is a lying cheat. He is not worth the time to make him even more known. This is a situation that we shouldnt need to handle.
I think that it's a good thing that Armstrong told the truth, but after saying he wouldn't do doping for years and still doing it, I can see how people are upset. Lance Armstrong will probably not be forgiven for a while but I think that people should forgive him eventually. Armstrong may lose some fans but I think he should get another chance.
I don't unerstand why Lance Armstrong is coming out clean now when he hasnt for like 10 years. That does not make any sense to me. His title as winning the tour de France should be taken away from him, because he did cheat. Also i dont see why they didn't drug test him before the race.
Armstrong screwed up, but out of all of us people how many of us are pefect? None of us is perfect. So IDK why yall are makin a big deal of it. I mean he had a cancer and he helped ALLL of these charities. so it aint like he didnt try to make it right.
I agree! Its easy to judge, none of us really know how it all happened and who all was involved, its not our place to judge anyone, and those that want to be forgived should forgive its not like he hurt any of you physically.
i do think the public should forgive Armstrong, mostly because of all the money he has donated to cancer research charities. The thing that bothers me most is the fact that he lied so many times, denying that he had ever used performance enhancing drugs. Because of all the lying, i think that he should be stripped of all his tour de france victories.
The hype of his admittance is quite extensive, however it's a little disappointing to see so many people taking it the wrong way. While I understand he may have angered fans by lying to them for so long, he at least decided to finally let out the truth. We cannot say that he didn't know he'd get this type of reaction, it's like telling your parents you just broke one of their top-priority rules. You do this knowing that you won't get a positive reaction, however the reaction will be better with admittance rather than denial. This is the decision he made and while I'm sure he's content with his decision he shouldn't be getting pounded so hard. The guy had an organization dedicated to Cancer – one misdoing is not enough to clear a man of everything he's done right. People need to stop forgetting the contributions he's made and let this one mistake go.
I beleive Lance Armstrong should not be in trouble for using peds. He paid the price and got cancer and that's fair for anyone. I believe peds make sports intresting but I don't think should be allowed. If other players are mad you should of taken peds too.
I think Armstrong should have his awards taken away because he did cheat in order to win. Even though he did it to help cheraties it was still wrong for him to cheat. Regauding the public I don't think some of them well ever forgive him.
His trophy's should be taken away from him, but I think he will be respected and forgiving because he helped some many people through his charity's and its not like hes a bad person.
I agree with you.
I agree. using drugs to win is NOT OK. He has had a hard life though so i think we should cut him some slack. I mean, how many of us have had cancer AND survived? my friend got it and died so being a survivor is some serious stuff.
I think nobody should forgive him. Because he knows not do it. And then lied about. and just now said that he did it. That's why we should not forgive him.
I believe that people should forgive Lance Armstrong, but I don't think that people will forgive him, because he had many big supporters that he let down.
I don't think the public will forgive Lance Armstrong. Not only did he cheat, he lied and bullied other teammates. He destroyed some of their careers. By his adament denials, he will be also be sued by his sponsors. I am horrified by what he has done, and don't think it's an excuse because "everyone else does it."
I think the public should not forgive him because he could've said the truth but he lied instead. It's bad- to yourself and to others- if you do that kind of thing.
I think they will eventually forgive him but not for a long time
I think that Lance Armstrong was very immature to being lying to everyone , Like the whole world he lied to I hope he feels bad about what he did you know that.
I think thee public should forgive him because he was only doing what he had to do to win the loser.
Lance had been lying for years on end, Lance should be forgiven, just not right away. It will take some time, but just because we forgive him doesn't mean we trust Lance.
I don't think he should be forgiven, he did it for a wrong cause and denied for years.
I think people should forgive him and I think he should only have like a 2 year band from cycling instead of a life band from it.
I am just astonished that he did that i was really shocked and disappointing that he did that
I don't think he should be forgiven because everyone loved him and looked up to and he lied and didn't win fairly
I don't think people should forgive him because he has lied for years and disappointed many people
I think everything that happened to Armstrong was necessary because he cheated in order to win. I think that everything that has happened and is happening to Armstrong is his own fault.
I think they should forgive him. You cant be mad at someone for wanting their dreams to come true. Wouldn't you want to win if you dreamed of something all your life? Wouldn't you want the public to forgive your wrongs? Everyone deserves a second chance.
I don't think people should forgive him because he has lied for years and disappointed many people.
I don't think he will be forgiven for some time. He ruined the tour de france for some of the other cyclists and for his fans. If he would of just won them by training hard, he wouldn't be in this mess. There is no honor in what he did, and he should't be forgiven.
i like to ride and i do it publicly so i think he should to
I don't think his fans will ever forgive him because he was a role model to his fans.
Lance Armstrong was Livestrong. He was the inspiration to it. We believed in him, his story, and how someone can overcome cancer, or any challenge, and achieve greatness. Now he admits to doping, taking the easy way out, cheating. How can we forgive him for that?
Armstrong did PED but so what give him another chance
II know Armstrong was telling lies at first, but at the end he told the truth. So I don't think the public should be mean or hurtful to this man who did many great things.
I think that there is no reason not to forgive him, everyone deserves a second chance. People have a right to be mad about the situation though.
We think the people should not apologize for what he did.
I think that he should not be forgiven because he has been lying to us that he never used drugs for some time now. I don't really expect him to be forgiven because of what he's done, a few people might though because of his Armstrong foundation.
my opinoin is that thay shoud not frgive him at all.
I don't think that the people should forgive him. Because in 2005 he said he did not use drugs so I can see why people call him a liar
I think that the people should not forgive Lance Armstrong because first of all, he should not have been doping in the first place and second of all he lied about doing it.
I think the public should forgive Lance because everybody makes mistakes and that's what he did. I do think the public will forgive Lance.
I think the public should not forgive him because he had his chance to tell the truth and he continuously lied about it. And I don't think they will forgive him.
I don't think he should be penalized because he started the Livestrong group who helped raise a couple of million dollars for kids and grown ups who have cancer. Armstrong told the truth at the end, but at first he told a lie. So i don't think he should be penalized.
I do not think they should for give him because he cheated. Then he lied about about it.
No because he lied to everyone.using drugs to win a race is not fair.... my parents always said "the more you lie,the more trouble you get yourself into."
I don't think that the public will ever forgive Armstrong because he not only cheated but he won when he was cheating also I don't think they should because he won many races when he was cheating if he hadn't won then it would be that big of a deal but because he won all those races it is!
I personally think that he shouldn't of taken those drugs because he's not winning its the drugs. He shouldn't be allowed to play any sport and should be sued for using those drugs.
I think the public might forgive him eventually, but only if they think he is very helpful to cancer research. I don't think people SHOULD forgive him though because he had all those years to tell the truth about performance-enhancing drugs.
I don't think that the people should forgive him. Because in 2005 he said he did not use drugs so I can see why people call him a liar. And he keeps saying that he did not do it but he is a LIAR! So take his medals away.
I think that they should not because he used drugs and cheated wail everyone didn't use anything
I'm glad that Lance finally owned up to what he did kudos for that, Lance, but I dont think the public should forgive because one, he lied, and two he used performance enhancing drugs, which potential denied other racers of a Tour De France title
I do not think they should for give them because he lied to every one
I think the public should not forgive him. I think that because he lied for a decade and knew it was bad. 0.0
I think that the public won't forgive Lance Armstrong because he lied to everyone for years, convincing people that he didn't do drugs, and now he confesses to it. It's a terrible example for little kids too.
I don't think the public will or should forgive him he lied for seven years! He had too many chances to redeem himself and yet he still lied!
I think that they should not forgive him because he no's better not to do drugs and he lied about it.
I think that the public will eventually forgive Lance Armstrong because everything has to go away eventually. I think that the public should forgive Armstrong because he has faced many consequences already and he can't go into professional cycling.
I think he should be forgiven he is a person too even though he did a bad thing. He did win over 3 times can he at least get credit for that
I believe that ,although he did lie and do the performance enhancing drugs, he shouldn't be punished too much because he still helped with his charity and still isn't a bad person.
No because he well soon go to jail. but that was good that he told that he was doing drugs.
I think the public will forgive Armstrong because they will find some other big news to talk about. In my opinion the public should forgive him because who hasn't lied to get out of trouble before?
I think the public should not forgive him. He said he didn't dope then told Oprah he did. He is a liar and a cheater and no one should forgive him for what he did.
I personally fell upset because I looked up to him and I have been wearing his livestrong bracelet for several years. But I don't think we should be hating on him he already has enough on his plate.
I don't think that the public should forgive him, but I think they will. He used drugs and those are illegal. However he did get a lot of money for cancer so the public probably will forgive him.
I think that the public might not forgive him for this and I honestly don't think that they should. A lier will always be a lier no matter what they say or do to try and make it right.
Well i think he should because Barry Bonds cheated and didn't get caught and i probably will because i don't believe he doped.
I think the public should not forgive him. He lied and covered it up. But just over 10 years, that is just ridiculous. Even if he was honest to Opera, he shouldn't have covered it up. If you lie, you just broke one of the ten commandments, which he just did. But he would always have haters and supporters, like some other people.
I think the public will just forget about this because something else will come up and everyone will forget about it. But, the public won't forgive him once they remember.
I think that the public shouldn't forgive him because he should have the consequences of not having fans. He has no right to have such caring fans.
I think no one should forgive him because he cheated for 7 years and we think that's way to long.
I think that public should, and probably will forgive Armstrong, because there are new and more interesting things that happen every day and people will forget about it, and then think its not worth their concern any more. Its just something small in our large world.
i thank thay shod not frgive him.
I don't think the public should forgive him because he could of told us that he was using substances. He knew what he was doing was wrong but he still did it. Lance is a lying cheater.
No the public won't forgive him till he is dead, and No they shouldn't forgive him ever. He used Perfomance Enhancing Drugs He should have came clean and he may have been allowed in to it again. He lied for a 10 years and finally came clean while he could have come back in. Work with out the Drugs and you are rewarded.
I think it wont be a big deal in one year
I think everything he won for cycling should be taken away, but I don't think the public should be mean to him.
No I don't think the public will ever forgive Armstrong because so many other people could have won in those seven years of cheating. I don't think the public should because of that reason either it just isn't fair he is a lying cheater!
I think the public should definitely not forgive him, I think so because he lied and said he wouldn't do it. He knows not to do it but he did, he deserves all of his trophies to be taken away from him. I think it's a serious topic and no one should forgive him.
we don't think that he should get the privilege to be elected to be able to ride because he had drugs.
It in a very hard decision because he should of not lied. But in my opinion I think they should forgive him.
I think that he should have his trophy's taken away . I think that because he was told not to do it many times and he lied about ever doing it . Thats what I think should happen .
I think that he should not be forgiven by the public or anyone else. He was using performance enhancing drugs, he wasted 7 Tour de France years, he wasted times.
We all know that he did something wrong but we can forgive him and let him continue the competitions just don't give him an award for his mistakes.
Armstrong should not be forgiven because of his first chance given. He's a liar and a cheater
The reason that I think that the public should forgive Armstrong is because he went through a ruff patch in his life. Even though he did do drugs he would of won without them. I think that he was a great person who even helped a cancer program called "LIVE STRONG". So,yes i think that the public should forgive Lance armstrong.
i think that we should forgive him because everyone makes mistakes .and we need to learn too except the mistakes and move on.
I think they should forgive him. I think this because everyone deserves a second chance. What he did was wrong but maybe he can prove that he can still win every race.
I forgive him
I believe Lance armstrong was wrong and deserved to lose all his titles. He was a good man . I love him for what he does.
I admire him for telling the truth, but unless he is that shallow, it seems like a hollow victory
I think the public should forgive him. Everybody makes mistakes. It's part of life. He also told the truth on the air, in front of millions of people who respect him. That takes a lot of courage. PLEASE FORGIVE HIM (:
Imagine for a moment that you were one of Lance's competitors and you never used performance enhancing drugs, and you lost the tour de france to him 7 times. Lance literally robbed many honest people of success by cheating to win.
yes he lied for years about doing drugs but at least he came clean. plus if you think about it, he didn't haveto tellusbut he did. so we should forgive him because he atleast admitted to it.
In my own oppion i think that if you are good at a sport then you shouldn't need drugs to help you.. I dont think his teammates should forgive him because what ever you do in life will effect someone, in his case it's effecting his team, and his coach..
Even if armstrong used peformance enhancing drugs and lie about it, he still is a awesome athelete. He is a role model to millions of people and had a really tough time in his life with cancer that almost killed him. He knows he messed up but he has accomplished a lot of great things in his life. People just need to stop critisizing him.
why would anyone forgive him after all the lies and cheating for so long he should be arrested
I think that lance should never be forgived because he lied multiple times. I also think that he didn't have to use performance enhancing drugs because he was already good at cycling.
The public will probably forgive Armstrong, but I don't think that they will ever cease to be suspicious of athletes because of this incedent.
I think there is no place for him after lying about using ILLEGAL DRUGS for SEVEN YEARS!!!!! THERE WILL BE NO FORGIVENESS FROM ME!!
None from me either.
I agree it was wrong, and he shouldn't have done it. But he needs to be forgiven eventually.
The drugs he took were most likely not "illegal". They were prohibited by the rules that govern bicycle racing.
I am not too sure how Lance Armstrong is any different than Bonds, Marion Jones, Ben Johnson, A-rod, Tyler Hamilton, Floyd Landis, ...all of them. They all deny, deny, deny. Then, when there is no other option, they tell the truth. The only reason we look at Lance Armstrong any differently is because he was on top for so long. But his path is no different than any other athlete that chooses to use PEDs.
I think they should forgive him because what if it was them with cancer?
I think its good they took away his golds for bikeing for useing drugs to win. And never forgive him for useing drugs to cheat and win.
I like your reason Matt !!!!!!!!!!!!
Admitting the truth is very hard sometimes. Lance Armstrong is being truthful to us now. And that's why we must find it in our hearts to forgive him.
hes lied for 8 years why should we forgive him
I think that is very true!
I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!!!:) 🙂
claire no we shouldnt he should have admitted it in 2005
You are a very forgiving person Claire! And you bring up a good point that everybody messes up and everybody tells lies. Aren't you at all upset that he lied about it for so long though?
i agree it is very hard admitting to other people
I agree with you
The public will probably forgive him due to his LIvestrong Foundation. People will remember the battle he had with cancer, and the cheating will be an after thought.
The public will forgive Armstrong just like they forgave Tiger Woods and the mess he pulled . They also will forgive him beacuse of the Livestrong fundation.
he yhrew his whole life away when he amited wich is why I think he lied. i think we should give him another cance but keep our eyes and ears on him. Or you could make a deal with him.
I think we should give him a little forgiveness because he he told the truth...even though he lied, its hard to admit to something...
He lied for 7 years!!!! he doesn't deserve those medals and stuff since he cheated to get them. so they definately should be taken away!!! even if he told the truth now, thats 7 wins later!!! thats bad...no forgivness!
Doing drugs was, yes, the wrong thing, I can tell now that people will not forgive him. But how would you fair if you were doing fine in what you loved but sitting in the corner was somthing that could make you 1,000 times better? Exactly.
when he told the truth he threw his whole life away which is why i think he lied i think we should give him a chance. but keep our eyes and ears on him.
I think they should forgive him but not let him back for a year.
i know that the media is critisizing him, but he brought that on himself!!!!!!!
Me and my partner think no the public should not forgive him first off he used drugs witch he should probably be thrown in jail for 2and off he lied to the entire world for a long long time.
I do not think that the public will forgive him. He just lies too much. If you want to be famous, you don't have to take drugs or cheat. It's really immature of him denying using drugs, and then confessing to it.
I thank they sod forgive hem
i think they shouldn't forgive him because he lied to them .
I don't think the public will forgive him. If they do that would mean that they should still let him race, and I don't think they want that. I think they want him to never race again in a public event because of his cheating. If it were up to me though, I would forgive him because everybody deserves a second chance.
i dont think what he did was right, but everyone deserves another chance
He's a cheater, he should have a time out in the corner for a couple minutes
i think the majority of the people and the majority of media wont really do anything this will all blow over in the end so why bother forgiving him or not forgiving him he did what he did but it only affected him he no longer has his medals and thats plenty of punishment as it is people dont need to make a huge deal about this
i think they shouldnt hate him for what did id say just ban him from sports cause we learn in school not to hold grudges over anyone. 🙂
He was and is a liar i dont expect anyone to forgive him because thats a legacy going right down the drain all of his fans will be dissapointed and he should be to
I think he should get a second chance so he can prove that he deserves the championships 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 <3 😉
I dont they will forgive him. He lied a lot for 7 years.
I think the public should forgive lance arm strong because everyone deserves a second chance. But I will add met that he should have not lied about doing drugs.
I think it's great that he told the truth, but should have told it a long time ago. I think he should be sent to life of jail.We should not forgive him because did something very bad as an example for kids.I think he should be baned from drugs. He should have not have been dinking in the first place.
No I do not think that they should forgive him because he accepted all of those awards for all of those races knowing that he cheated and also said that he did not cheat and he was lying all of these years.
He should not be forgiven because he lied to a lot of people and then next thing you know he told Oprah he was on drugs
I think he should have told us the truth in the begining and that he was not thinking when took the drugs. He should get in trouble for doing what.He did but i think we should forgive him.
I think that the public shouldn't forgive him cause he lied for to long. He's had too many chances to come clean.
I think that they should forgive hem because he told the truth.
No I don't think that he should be forgiven because he was on drug's 🙁
There are always going to be those who refuse to forgive, and they have that right. Personally, I think we should do our best to allow Mr. Armstrong to earn our trust once again. He is sure to have a long and difficult road ahead no matter what happens, and it would be nice to see people rally behind all of the good things that he has done, and not focus entirely on the negative.
yes they should because if they don't maybe he will quit racing forever and never come back.
We don't think that the Government will accept his forgiveness because he new he wasn't supposed to cheat and use drugs.
Even if Armstrong used performance enhancing drugs and lie about it, he still is a awesome athlete. He is a role model to millions of people and had a really tough time in his life with cancer that almost killed him. He knows he messed up but he has accomplished a lot of great things in his life. People just need to stop criticizing him.
I really dont care its not a sport i care about or like watching biking it would be different if it was a team or sport i liked but its not
I think we shouldn't forgive him because he has had chances before to confess, but chose not to.
I don't think he should be forgiven. He lied to all of around the world and shouldn't get a second chance. he deserves to be striped of his medals. In my opinion he doesn't deserve to even keep the memories or publicity.
I don't think that the public will ever forgive him for this. He may have told the truth now but that dosen't make up for about a decade of lying. I don't think the public should forgive him. He lied and had he just told the truth from the start the social media and the public may have forgave him.
its a sad thing but its for the best. no one likes cheaters. and im glad he decided to confess
What I think is that they shouldn't, because if they do then that's going to let others do it too it can get risky and when most of them are doing it there's no way out.
It's better to admit a mistake than to live as a liar.
We should forgive him but he should not be able to race no more for the intestinal on doping in a race because it is like cheating
I think some people are going to forgive but i don't think they should because he should have been honest the first time someone brought it up
admitting the truth is very hard sometimes. lance Armstrong is being truthful to us now
I think he shouldn't have done that i mean the first time with out drugs yes but to keep on winning those tittles with out any help when in fact you got a lot of body organs that you need to survive and let alone win 7 races that take a long time to do i think you should bansh him but taking his tittles away is wrong drugs help kinda but you still but a lot of evert.
I think that the public should be mad at Armstrong because he did cheat and won all those titles when the people who don't cheat could of won all that money that Lance Armstrong won they would of been able to win if he wasn't doping,
We should forgive him but he should not be able to race no more for the intestinal of doping in a race because it is like cheating
I myself, believe everyone gets a second chance but I don't think Lance deserves one. I mean, he had been given many chances before to tell the truth and he didn't. He did raise money for cancer but he did it in such an awful many. But this will probably only last a little while. The public will get over it.
He lied and lying is wrong he used drugs to cheat and win
So i don't think you should forgive him
After all that lying and cheating
So no forgiveness from me either
I think that people can forgive him but cheating isn't something that a famous biker should be doing. Kids look up to him. Now, he is being a bad example for kids who look up to him. It isn't ok to lie and cheat. Which is why he is a very bad example to kids.
I do not think the public will ever forgive Armstrong. I don't think that they should forgive him, he is a cheater. I know to some people he is a hero because he had cancer then won seven tour DE France races. He wouldn't of been a hero if he didn't use performance-enhancing drugs because then he probably wouldn't of won those races. Lance also lied A LOT until he finally confessed!
Drugs like that seam to be very popular lately, its sad that Armstrong was so respected then he turned on everyone and lied about it. Armstrong shouldn't get away with it this needs to be a example to future people who will take these drugs that its not okay, and their bad desiccation will effect their health as well as their careers.
Well Carl, if my journalism class's live response is anything to go by, I'd say no.
But somehow, I think they will. With trends and news flying fast lately, I'm willing to bet that "They" (who ever 'they' are) will have forgotten by next month.
If Lance had admitted to using drugs at first, he should get another chance.
No i don't think they will because he was lying that whole time and he was denying it since he first got accused and he just now confessed.
I know that everyone has made many mistakes, so has Lance. So if you were forgiven, why can Lance be forgiven?
Honestly I think it was wrong to use drugs because their are probably kids out there who looked up to him now they think drugs are good because he started using them...but he finally told the truth and people should forgive him but I feel bad for the people who looked up to him because there hero is a drugs user.
I think people will eventually forgive him but since he lied for so long the consequence will be much worse. If Armstrong really loved what he did he should have had enough respect for the sport to not take the performance enhancing drugs.
i think they should forgive him because many stars do it and they get forgived. they do not get as public harrsed as much. so i think they should forgive him. who cares if he did. people have a choice, right? or is the govement getting rid of our rights?
so we really should forgive him, he might have been presssed into it, someone could have forced him
we really should forgive him. but that is just my little old opin
I think that they will because he said that he was sorry . I would will you!
Cheaters never win.
Armstrong shouldnt have done this because it harms him and the people around him.
I think he should be forgiven even though he used performance enhancing drugs he still tried.
I think that the public will forgive him because after all, we have forgiven other people for lying to the public before. However, I myself do not forgive him. Lying to massive amounts of people is wrong.
i think people may not forgive Armstrong mainly because he cheated and that is why every one hates him now
Admitting he did that is good, but telling then a few years later is a bad thing but we all can forgive him.
I think that if you lie to America for over a decade and then finally release the truth that you should never be forgiven,
I suggest he shouldn't have done this in the first place, he still would've been able to try to win and i'm sure its not just him that use performance enhancing drugs so the public shouldn't take it hard on him.
I don't think that the public should forgive him because it is just plain bad to do such a thing and i will never forgive him for what he did and what he lie for. unless he just stopped then I think that a lot of people would forgive him.
We all know how hard it is to admit to a lie, even a small one, but Lance Armstrong a huge one. Yes he made a bad choice, but I believe that it takes more guts to admitting the truth than winning.
I think that he should be kill on sight.
I don't think the people will for give him but it good that he opened up and tolled the truth and for that I forgive Lance Armstrong for what he did and he should be able to race.
Yeah he lied and should not be forgiven for that but he is a cancer survivor. Chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, maybe he needed a little extra help. I forgive him for doping up but not for lying. And i believe that you guys are being a little hard on him.
Personally, I think it will be hard to forgive him. I used to look up to him as an awesome biker who could inspire me to do the Tour De France also, but now that he has doped, I feel dopey.
Lance Armstrong was an idol to all. Using PEDs or not it still takes skill to win 7 Tour de Frances.
I think the International Cycling Union had no right to strip Armstrong of his titles. He never failed a drug test. Even if the Constitution doesn't cover him outside the U.S he still should have the right of a case in front of a jury to prove himself innocent.
I think that we should forgive him because he went through a tough time with cancer and wanted to feel like a winner again. Although, he did lie for many years and he did something against the law. We may find it hard to believe him again. But, I think if he truly feels sorry, we can forgive him.
I believe yes the people should forgive him because he did it for the right reasons and its hard to tell the truth for many resons but yet, they shouldn't because he cheated and he didn't deserve the awards he won so I'm on both sides
This man is bad for lying and doing drugs, and we will not forgive him. We also think that others will have a hard time forgiving him also.
Although he's done a lot in the fight against cancer, he lied and decieved a lot of people. He gave hope to many people by winning so many titles, but it wasn't really him winning them. He used drugs to help him and that's wrong. However, I do feel over time, the public will get over it and forgive him.
I believe Armstrong made an honest mistake and if he can prove he won't use drugs again that he should be back on the team. It doesn't mean he's a criminal just because he did one thing wrong. The public might be the harshest critic, because they can't see the battles Armstrong went through with cancer and any other disease. They might forgive him, but it will take time.
It may take some time, but people will forgive him. Who knows maybe they'll let him back in in a few years
Though I don't believe the public will ever fully forgive him for his actions, in some ways I feel empathetic for him. True he did lie and cheat, and that is a really bad thing, but we should focus less on what he did on the bike and more on what he did off it. I believe he consistently lied not for himself but for others. LiveStrong was founded on the idea that you shouldn't let cancer bring you down. If after the first doping allegation Armstrong admitted to doing it, then LiveStrong would never have raised Millions for cancer research and cancer patients wouldn't be able to believe in themselves. He lied to keep that idea, so I will forgive him.
No, because he should have never doped in the first place. I do think that they should forgive him though because they took it too far by banning him for life from cycling. He should have been banned for a year.
They should forgive him because he didn't do anything that bad but a little lie wont hurt.
I don't think the public will ever forgive him. The reason why I think this is because he is DIRTY CHEATER. Also maybe though he was doping because he wanted to win so he could raise money for his live strong charity.
Armstrong will be forgived why because everyone should be. I think that Armstrong just went down the worng road. He should just be sorry for the people he hurted.
i think he deserved being banned for doing drugs.no he should not be forgiven.
i dont think he should get another chance because he shouldnt cheat at his job. Cheaters should never get another chance at something because if they know how to do it why would they cheat.
Lance Armstrong had the chance to admit what he did much earlier. Admitting the truth can be very tough, but look at all the money he won... from cheating! It isn't fair! Guilt was probably eating away at him, and he should've spoken up sooner. About a decade later isn't the time. Most likely, public will try to forgive him, but not forget. It makes you suspicious about other athletes...
I THINK IF HE HAD ADMITED TO IT AT THE START OF THE DESPUTE HE WOULD HAD A HAD A BETTER CHANCE OF BEING FORGIVED BUT AFTER HE LIED I WOULD HAVE FORGIVEN HIM.
I do not believe it to be a wise idea to forgive Lance Armstrong's actions. As a representation for the United States of America, Armstrong poorly represented our country by not only cheating to enhance his ability, but for lying to the public for multiple years. As a member of society, I believe Armstrong's action are highly inappropriate and he does not DESERVE the respect of his fellow Americans, such as I.
The public should forgive Armstrong because if he didn't tell anybody that he used drugs, and people found out, then nobody should forgive him. But since he did admit to using drugs to enhance his performance, he told the truth, and telling the truth is very hard and takes a tremendous amount of courage and bravery.
I think everyone deserves forgiveness. Yes, he did do wrong but at least he was able to admit it even if it did take him a while to do so. Like I said, everyone deserves forgiveness. So why should Armstrong be an exception?
No we should , not he lied. When he had a chance to come clean, and lie the years later told the world he did.
I think the public shouldn't forgive him. I am a nice person, but there is no reason why he should wait nearly a decade to admit to using drugs to win. He shouldn't have lied to all his fans and the Lifestrong foundation. He should have admitted to using drugs from the start or at least when they took away his earnings and banned him from cycling races.
I think he had his time to admit it but lieing this long is just not right I would of forgave him if he just admitted it before lieing now I just can't trust him
If your really good at something you can do it an if he does dope he should of been honesty and said it but lieing is just unsportsmanlike
This is a man who went the extra mile with trickery, lies, and repeated denial to cover up his doping. He had the chance to come clean decades ago, but chose to keep living in a web of lies. After being betrayed like this, the public should NOT forgive him.
Over many years the public will probably somewhat forgive Armstrong but most likely won’t forgive him totally in his lifetime. I however we should forgive him. He did some bad things but (it appears) he has come clean. The public should forgive him and stop giving him such a hard time. Yes he may have done some nasty things but he can’t do them again and people should just forgive and forget.
Honestly, Lance Armstrong was given the chance to admit his doping a long, long time ago, but didn't take the opportunity until now to do so-- Personally, I think he's only confessing because he's sorry that he got caught.
My Grandfather recently died from cancer Armstrong survives and what he does with his life is cheat? that makes me sad and a lot mad
Lance Armstrong will be remembered as the cheapest scam that biking ever knew.
I can forgive him. He must have been taking the drugs when he had cancer. And he has started something to try and stop cancer. So Ithink we shoud forgive him. STOP being so rough on him.
Lance Armstrong definitely did the wrong thing by using PEDs, needless to say. Though, we have all made huge mistakes. He should of confessed years ago. You also have to wonder, would the uproar of the public be any different if he had confessed earlier? Think of all the people you know that have made mistakes, perhaps even you, how far has anyone gotten for holding a grudge? Who else can think of someone who has made a complete joke out of themselves, and how that ended; how it ended for a person who'd been bashed by everyone? Though my gut wouldn't forgive him, i know that the right thing is to forgive him. He has gotten what he has deserved anyways, so why do we continue to blatantly criticize something that is done and over with?
Armstrong did do something wrong, but he stood up for whats right. He cheated but used his influence to make others lives better. In a way I can see where he's coming from. Although he shouldn't have doped in the first place.
I dont think the public should ever forgive Lance..... he lied to everybody for years and he should've come clean the first time.
I think the public will forgive him eventually. I think they should, because if he didn't confess then the critics would never stop the accusations. just because someone is good doesn't mean they are drugging. Maybe Armstrong never even did drugs. Who knows but sometimes you got to say what the public thinks even if it's not true.
no
he should not be forgiven because he lied for years he could have been honest years ago
I think we shouldn't forgive him since he's lied about it for years. He should have told the truth the first time.
The public won't forgive Armstrong, but they should. He isn't the only one to use drugs, and though he is a celebrity he isn't on a higher plane than anyone else. As to lying: look at his situation. He had fame from his cancer recovery and his success was an inspiration to millions. Society judges drug users, and if he was found out his inspiration would become disappointment. He couldn't let all those people down: before judging we should ask what we'd do.
I think that the world should forgive him, but probably won't. Armstrong deserves forgiveness from everything he does and even without the drugs, he probably would have won!
I think its good they took away his golds for bikeing for useing drugs to win. don't forget him
No, I don't think or see forgiveness with Lance Armstrong because he lied, cheated, and embarrassed the USA.What about Texas, we where embarrassed tow. He did take fault so that is step in the right path.
For all those times he won those races, he gave us the motivation to do many things. But after all the lies, we should still forgive him. He is a good man and at least he told the truth.
The public should forgive him sooner or later. You can't stay mad at someone forever. At least he told the truth and he probably feels guilty. Everyone can't just hold a grudge on him.
We all do things wrong in our lives. We all make mistakes. Sometimes we are so ashamed of those mistakes that we deny them. Yes, Armstrong cheated, but thanks to his LIVESTRONG, he also gave millions of cancer patients hope for tomorrow. I don't think we should judge him so harshly.
Although he took a long time to admit his drug use, I think he will be forgiven. He was great at showing that even though he had cancer, he survived and won the tour to France. Sadly he just got caught in the wrong crowd.
no! If he won so many titles and races like the tour de france then why should people trust after all of those years of lying He's a DIRTY CHEATER! Plus,he just wanted to win for the FAME!
I think that Armstrong should not be forgiven. Many people have kept Lance Armstrong as their role model, and he has le them down. If he has repeatedly denied the doping accusations before, why did he decide to tell the truth now? Why should we forgive someone who has hid behind their lies?
I think Lance should not ride for life and forgive him a little bit
I think that the public should not be proud of him. My dad loves biking and if I were him it would have broken my heart.
I don't think Lance Armstrong should be forgiven because he had so many chances to tell the public that he was cheating. They have asked him for many many years. If they had never asked him if he cheated or stripped his Tour de France titles, he would have never admitted it. He had way too many chances to give him a "second" chance.
Will Armstrong be forgiven? Yes. Every celebrity has flaws that would send us to jail for life, but since they are what's "in", they will be forgiven. But should he be? Absolutely not. How do you think the people he beat feel? If you spent years working for something, and the same person beat you every time, and then later you find out that all of that was fake, would you be like "eh, at least I tried." or would you be angry that you were cheated out of something you deserved?
I don’t think that the public will forgive Lance Armstrong, and I don’t think they should. He lied for years about doping just so he could win the Tour de France and other cycling races. We gave him chances to admit it, but he always lied! If I were him, I would be grateful that I’d overcome cancer and I wouldn’t just throw my life away like that. People all over the world looked up to him, and he let them down.
I highly doubt the public will forgive him, but no one is perfect, and they have to accept that. noting that they also make mistakes.
If you think about it, he went through a lot with having cancer and all so he probably took those drugs to make him feel like he could do something but once he got a taste of power he over did it. so i think the public should forgive him, but because of the media these days, they will find a way to make it worse.
I believe he should be forgiven but todays generation just isn't as forgiving as they used to be. People are going to dwell on the past and always think of him for his stupid mistakes not what he's going to do.
I think that what Lance Armstrong did was wrong and now that he came clean after years of lying, it just makes it all the worse for him and everyone who believed in him. I believe that everyone deserves a second chance at anything, find the bright side of things. At least he decided to come clean instead of living his whole life a liar. I forgive Lance Armstrong and hope others agree with me. 🙂
i think Armstrong should be forgiven because everyone makes mistakes and its not really fair that he makes a mistake and is not forgiven and then another person makes a mistake and is forgiven.
I think Armstrong did the wrong thing by doping and then lying about it. The public shouldn't forgive him but I think they should accept his apology and move on.
He should have told the truth at the start, but he did good things.I would forgive him but he lied.Next time tell the truth b/c if not no one will trust you.
We gave him a chance to tell the truth but he denied it telling to truth is hard and lying is easy so he must of choose the easy way around
I don`t think they will forgive him, and i don`t think they should. He let all those kids that have caner down, some of those kids wanted to be like him! He gave them something to fight for!
I think the public make a big deal about it, what did he ever do to you? So we should forgive him but the people he went against have a right not to forgive.
i think they should not forgive him because if i was in that race and raced the non cheating way i would want to win but if some on cheats i can not have the opportunity to win the race so i belief no one shoudl not forgive him
I believe that what he did was wrong and denying it made it even worse, but in the end, he did the right thing. I believe that we should forgive him. Besides we all have made some really bad mistakes in our lives.
lance armstrong should apologize for lying to us for 10 YEARS! but IF he does, i think everyone, including armstrong deserves a second chance. it will take a while but its his luck whether or not the media forgives him.
I think they should forgive him, but it might take a while for society to do so. They should at some point, but it was very wrong for what he did.
It's been 20 years of lying and cheating. He should of confessed a long time ago before he won the Tour De France beacuse it's not fair to any other fair players who worked hard and lost.
I think doping and then lying about it was very dishonorable. But to quote a favourite book of mine, "Who am I to withhold forgiveness?"
I think the public will forgive him because it wasn't only him that was taking the performing enhancement drugs.
People should consider that he isn't the only person that has admitted to doping.
Even though Armstrong won seven worldwide bicycling races and started an inspirational charity for cancer patients, he cheated, and that's not okay under any circumstances.
i think that armstrong is well a JERK he is a lier to the world...!!!!!!
Our country is based so much around sports its kind of hard not to expect people to cheat. When you make billions of dollars a year just off of one team then the bar is set high for athletes to achieve greatness. With Lance admitting the truth he's opening a door of ridicule. I feel the public should forgive him because at least he finally came out with it instead of denying it to his dyng day and the media finding out when he finally is dead.
This will be a tough call. Armstrong used performance hancers. It has killed the carrers of many famous pro althletes. Armstrong though is a big inspration. He won the Tour de France with all his cancers. His foundation also greatly helped the research for a cure. It will be on the opion of the person, but we dont know.
For many years, he lied about doping. Even if he admitted to doing it now, he still denied it for a long time. If he had just raced honestly or told the truth earlier, people would be more willing to forgive him.
no why should we he was diagnosed with cancer have surgery is cancer free starts a organization for cancer research wins tour de france multiple times but he took steiroids no we should not fogive him he is a liar and a cheat
I say Lance should get a second chance
Lance should get a second chance because everyone make mistake
When we live in everydaylife, we sometimes make a decision. And sometimes, its motive may look good to us but, its way or method may be not good. If we make it in this case, can it be allowed? or can it be regarded to good?
I think it cannot be. Many cases are mostly excuse, and nothing more.
I think that the public doesn't want to forgive him. He said he didn't take performance-enhancing drugs at first, but now he admits it. Lying to the public can be hurtful to his fans. I know I don't like him for what he did.
The fact that he came out of cancer but was still able to race is an amazing feat in itself. Not only that but he created a foundation that will be there mush longer than him that benefits many. For all of this he has done too much too benefit man king then to be forgotten and mistrusted.
Listen upp! So what he lied! Everybody does every now and then (not that it makes it right or anything). He made a mistake and then he denied it, and i think he did maybe because he didn't want people judging him, but HEY, at least he came forth with the truth. Ever think that maybe he finally realized that what he did was wrong and was just trying to do what's right? I think society should forgive him. It's not like he's the first athlete to ever use enhancing drugs.
I don't know if he should be forgiven, the man lied about it for so long until he decided to do what was right and I believe that he is willingly giving up his medals, but he still cheated and that didn't give the chance of other players getting medals and not only ruined his life, but theirs.
Armstrong is a lyer and a cheater
I think he deserves a second chance. I mean didn't we all do something bad and didn't we get a second chance.
Personally I think he should get a second chance. I mean didn't we all do something bad and get a second chance. I mean he might have used drugs during the competition, but didn't he also make the livestrong cancer program to help people with cancer.
the public should forgive him because even though he did somthing bad no bodys perfect we are all human and we make mistakes
I think the public will forgive him, after a while. Some people deserve second chances, and he is one of them.
This guy was a hero to many and he had the chance to admit when people accused him of doping but he got caught thanks to him lying he brought this upon himself and made things much more worse.
This guy was a hero to many and he had the chance to admit when people accused him of doping but he got caught thanks to him lying he brought this upon himself and made things much more worse. Overall he is still human and probably feels horrible he should be forgiven
He has been through a lot with his cancer. He should be forgiven. The only thing I would ask was when did he dope did he actually win one of the races on his own?
In a peleton full of dopers he was still the best and for many years stood out as the one not caught. If you look back it was as if everyone was doping except Lance (even a fool wouldn't believe that). He should get what any other doper gets a 2 year suspension and move on.
Lance Armstrong had many chances to stop and give it up, but he decided to deny that what he did, and to hide from the truth. He might be able to hide from it now, but he will always be remembered for the bad he did forever
I think that the public shouldn't ever forrgive him. He was one, lying about doping, and two, didn't admit it for months. He was a roll model too alot of people, but he did dope to win all of it. So to conclude, no the public should never forgive him
I think that they should forgive him because everyone makes mistakes.
I think that we should all forgive Arm Strong because he is a good person and we all should be forgive.
I think that he should of played fair. He lied and he is paying for that now. He let every one down and all of his fans down,i was a big fan but now i am not. Why would he do that he could of just played fair, that is what are parents teach us so he should be taught that too.
I don't belive that Lance Armsstrong should be doing all the drugs that he is doing .But I belive that they need to back off of him some because you never know but he might be in a hard time. But i will hope the lord will watch over Mr. Armstrong.
I'm really not as mad that he took the steroids, but that he lied. And he lied. Over and over again. To Everybody. It just makes me so sad.
No I dont think they will because If they will let athletes do drugs then nobody will want to look up to these athletes
The public is being hard on him, but really, he did the wrong thing. If people start forgiving him, it will be encouraging to other athletes to do the same thing since they won't get in a huge amount of trouble.
Why should they forgive him?! Armstrong got his titles by cheating! If the public forgives him, more and more athletes will turn to steroids. These are not the kind of people we should look up to.
I think they should not let him he cheated and that's not right!!:)
Armstrong had a chance to admit it. Instead of lying he should have been honest. He should never be forgiven.
Yes I think the public should forgive armstrong because he really deserve those medals he earned but him having drugs was a bad thing but it his choice if he bikes with or without them.
It's everyone's opinion what they want to think but, I think that It was wrong what he did but, even so every one makes mistakes its called life but, you just have to forgive and forget.
Unless he apologizes and compensates his former teammates and staffers who testified truthfully against him then No, I will not forgive Lance. He lied over the years, bullied and ruined and ended the careers of those who got in his way.
A good handful of those athletes out there have started doping, so why have we began to act and notice it now? We might as well stop it now before any more damage and heartbreak begins.
I think that he cheated and should not be forgiven
same though
Even though he did the wrong thing, i believe that we should forgive him; he's only human. And he confessed up to his mistake, something that not many people can do.
I think Lance should be forgiven by the public. The reason why is because he doesn't need to get his bike competitions taken away, but instead just don't give him an award for whatever place he takes. I know that what he did was bad, but we can cut the guy some slack and let him compete, and don't award him for his bad mistakes.
I think it was wrong and he should of admitted it a long time ago. But everyone makes mistakes and mistakes should be forgiven.
i think we should forgive because he admitted to take those drugs .what do you think that you would say if it was you. i forgive him with the bottom of my heart.
I think he is one of the people in this world who would do anything for fame or fortune. He should be striped of his title and checked for further drugs. Nobody should ever cheat like he did.
I do think he should be forgiven but never get his medals back he let down a lot of his fans and lied but I think everyone should be given a second chance
I think every one should forgive him because he was a cancer suviver
Amsstrong should be forgiven. Everyone makes mistakes, and if someone makes a mistake, they won't make it again. I'm sure Lance won't make the mistake of doping again, IF he gets a second chance.
I believe that he should but he should earn his way back into the professional cycling, and that he should earn those winnings and those tittles.
I don't think the public should forgive Armstrong because he was an inspiration to so many people and he let them down. People deserve to have a real role model that made it in life because of skill not PED's.
People make mistakes I think he deserves another chance
Everyone deserves a second chance.
Maybe some will forgive him and some won't. But they should give him a second chance.
They should forgive him but I can't think of why except that he rides a bike.
They should not forgive him he is a lair he might do it again.
i think that armstrong is a lier and a loser and that nobody will ever forget him for lieing 7 years about something he did but he said he didnt do
he admitted the truty i think he should pay just not that much by the american people. football players use steroids thats a drug too.
the truth
I dont he was using his head when he took those drugs, and I thinking he should get punished for lieing for 6-7 years
I beleive that Jesus has already forgiven him but the public will never!
Sometimes it can be hard to speak the truth, some people say he is telling the truth, to me, he isn't telling the truth. I have say, he is a traitor!
Admitting the truth must have been so hard. He should have just been truthful to us in the beginning because he lost others respect. We need to find it in our hearts and in our minds to forgive him. Give him another chance!
He shouldnt have been lying to us for all these years, it can be hard to tell the truth sometimes, but you always end up having to, but he waited to late, to many years of the secret. I dont think he should be forgiven for keeping that secret for so long.
I think we should forgive him. thats what christ would do.
he is a good racer and stuff but he cheated so he should go to prison
I like lance he is a honest man:)
I think the public will forgive him because what he did was wrong but with every wrong step with someone famous the public will forgive them
I think it was wrong of him to use the drugs. He cheated and that wasn't fair to the other cyclists. I hope he learns from what he has done!
i think lance and most of everybody else did the same as him
lance in trouble lose money
Well i think he deserves to have all of his titles taken away...
I think people should someday forgive him but right now i don't think people will
Personally I think the public should forgive. Admitting something can be very hard, and holding onto it can be very stressful. Lance Armstrong is being truthful right now, and he is going through and amazingly tough time. I think the public needs to find a place in their hearts and souls to forgive him.
no
i dont think the public will ever forgive him. he did a very wrong thing and telling a lie about it and building and building on it just makes it worse and worse. because he told the truth just means it wont be as big of a punishment but that doesnt mean hes out of trouble.
its was a tough run but we should forgive him.
i think we should give hem a chach
i think we should give hem a chace
I like Armstrong, but why would he dope?
Why does the public want to beat him??????????^-^ so sad poor thing
I think people should give Lance another chance, but the people who looked up to him probably got let down.
I think i should not forgive.
I could go either way since he did go through cancer and going the other way other people who do sports could get a paper cut think if him and use performance enhancing drugs
nice thinking
I think people should forgive him because people really looked up to him.He was a hero to some people.
I do not believe the public will forgive him because of all the people he sued. Also he lied for several years.
Lance made the wrong choice by doing drugs. But those were his actions not ours. So I hope other racers don't follow in his steps by doing drugs.
I think that lance should be forgiven, but he should tell the truth to the public.
I don't think we should forgive him because we gave him our trust and he lied to us. Think of the people who he raced against and the people who got 2nd, 3rd, and 4th who should have got 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
I think lance should be thanked for telling the truth but do something in renter
I think that Lance was a great athlete and that we should forgive him but he does need to learn how to tell the truth. If he wouldn't have lied in the first place his life would've been easier
i am pretty sure the public will forgive him, even though he did lie
Armstrong was very good at hiding his drugs but he became discovered when he won so many times instead he should of lost this year and won next time instead. So then if he doesn't win them all they will more likely not accuse him of drugs so then he could continue drugs without getting caught
I feel he shouldn't have lied to the public. He should of been honest to every one even to his heros. The public should no forgive him.
i think that the public will not forgive Armstrong because he let down all his fans and he should have just told the truth from the beginning
I think he has done the wrong thing for using drugs I believe if your good at something then you shouldn't need something to make you even better at it but he did help other people with cancer too I don't think people should forgive him
I think lance should be thanked for telling the truth but do something in return for using drugs
armstrong lied to his fans,he betrayed all of his believers.he should have known what level he was dropping to when he took those career-ending drugs.so my opinion is he should not be forgiven especially after what he has done to his fans.
I don't think the public should forgive Lance Armstrong because he lied for fifteen years and sewed people who tried to tell the truth.
I truly think that the public shouldn't ever forgive him. He lied to these people for a while, don't you think him winning the tour to France every year was really chatching the publics eye? He lied to us fora while then a couple years later he comes out and says that he used drugs.
I agree
i for one believe every one should deserve a second chance in life even though he took drugs to win i think yes he has done something wrong but forgive him
i think he should be forgiven cause i know he did take bad drugs but it is wrong to not forgive forgive them not 7 but 7×70 i just wish this wont happen again
I think Lance did the wrong things. I heard on the news that the drugs is what caused his cancer. But i don't forgive him cause he lied about doping. Everyone that trusted him doesn't trust him anymore.
This will turn out like how Alex Rodriguez and Barry Bonds were forgiven after they admitted to using PEDs. It'll take time, but the cycling and sports world will forgive Armstrong eventually.
please post this on Tuesday and anyone should be forgiven for there crimes its not like he killed someone its a miner mistake
The public should not forgive him even though he has done it for a long period of time. If he did this before he should know that the public would not allow this problem to happen again. He was trusted and who ever trusted him he let them down and they never forgave him.
I think the public will forgive him, because in the past, when a celebrity made a mistake, America forgave them. However, I would have much more respect to Armstrong if he admitted to doping several years ago.
I think Armstrong will be forgiven because everyone deserves a second chance. Although everyone has lost a lot of respect for him, the public will move on.
I know the public is being very harsh on him, but I think its because he waited so long to reveal the truth. He should have just been honest in the first place instead of winning 7 Tour de Frances first. If he was honest first, it might not have been such a big deal. People might have forgiven him. Even if we try to forgive him now, no one will ever forget what happened in the past.
Everyone is right to be furious at him. He served as a role model to many and many respected him. He lied to everyone who believed in him. Yes, his mistake was a horrible one. But isn't that what life is about? Making mistakes and learning from them? I for one, would not blame the public for hating him, however, I cannot find it in my heart to do so.
I am not mad at him but instead I feel sorry for him. I feel sorry that he felt he needed to lie for such a long time and he needed to lie to even his own children who had been defending their father. Since I became a mother, how I view things changed. As soon as I sew the video of him crying when he said he told his children the truth, I was thinking how thier children must felt. At the same time how Armstrong parents had felt. I was guessing his children were pretty upset and it would probably take a lot of time before they understand or even forgive him completely. I can be wrong. If I were his child, I would be embarrassed to go to school. Then I was thinking if he was my child, how would I feel? I think I would love my children no matter what and so I would just try to understand why he had lied for such a long time. I will not jump to the conclusion that he is just pure evil, liar, and I will not think that I never forgive him. If I were his parent, I would keep loving him and guide him to atone. If he earned a lot of money by his lie, then spend the money for good cause, spend his life for something good, teach children the consequence of the usage of drugs, and so on. I think it is up to him now whether or not society forgives him. I believe in 2nd chance so hopefully he will not dissapoint me. I am trying to be considerate because I believe that we need to be now. We need to be considerate to everyone especially there have been a lot of sad news lately and I can definately think kindness to anyone will do so much more good than the feeling of hatred.
I think what he did was wrong but he seems terribly sorry for what he did.He admitted it to the world , and you have to give him credit for that. And now his cancer program is suffering, please people donate, the money is not going to him.
I think that eventually he will be forgiven. He is a human, and Humans make mistakes. Nobody is perfect.
I don't think the public will for give Armstrong. People have been told repeatedly not to use preformance enhancing drugs and if they don't listen one time, I don't think they will ever listen again.
I think the public should forgive Armstrong. Many cyclists were using drugs at the time, not all of them were but many did. Despite that he beat the odds. He survived cancer, won the Tour de France, and he helped raise millions of dollars for cancer patients.
