Next year, about 20,000 U.S. students will be spending more time at school.  A new program, taking place in five states, will keep schools open a little more than an hour and a half longer (on average) throughout the day.

It doesn't necessarily mean that students will be spending more time in social studies or science classes, though that is possible.  The program aims to offer additional educational opportunities, like internships or apprenticeships, and ensure some programs like drama and sports stay in place.

Many students may not like the idea; a middle schooler interviewed by a CNN affiliate said that students "just want to get out of school and have a little break" from learning.

But let's say your school was planning to stay open an extra hour and a half.  How would you want to spend it?
