It's not a new idea, but it's a new display at Harrods. Supporters say it's a good thing because it keeps kids from thinking they have to play with certain toys because they're marketed for boys or girls. Critics say it won't make a difference because most kids already know what they want before they visit the store; they'll just have to look for their toys in a different area.
We don't know yet whether there'll be a significant effect on how (or what) toys are sold. But we are curious about whether you think a gender-neutral toy department would make a difference to your younger brother or sister.
Carl Azuz, Anchor
I think it wouldn't really matter. Its really up to the kids. But would make it more easy for the company selling these items. To just worry about one type of toy. I don't think it would affect anyone else but the company.
I think that a gender nutral store doesn't make a differance. Kids are smart enough to know wich gender the toys are ment for. It only makes it eaisier to seperate the store by gender. Chances are that if you have a girl that wants a boy toy, or vice versa, she won't be afraid to get it out of the boy section. Clothes are separated by gender, so why is it so bad for toys to be too.
Ehhh...I find it interesting that if you visit Harrods' website that they are not applying the gender-neutral mentality to their clothing line. Why pick on the toys? Even without it, my daughter isn't slow to air her complaints when her brother gets a Narf shooter and she ends up with the doll.
I think it is called nerf
Please realize that regardless of style, you do technically NEED separation of clothing. Just the way the clothes are made are meant to fit that of the gender's body. If a man wants to wear a dress, for example, he either needs to compensate for the bust or possibly won't fit due to the fact that he is a male trying to fit in a dress made for a female.
I believe this is a change that could be very profitable to toy stores and such. It takes a lot for change, but hey everythings worth trying
I think gender neutral toy sections are a bad Idea let kids be open to what they want. When I was younger I wanted a doll house but I didn't want to get it because Ibthought I would be made fun of. So if there are kids like me this would be an adequate effort to dissolve bullying especially with the new H.I.B laws ( Harrasment Intimidation bullying) in most states.
i think it would not be good because then people might think that its not for them or that its too girlish or boyish
I think younger brother or sister should play a new toy at least 5+ years old because any one of you have some fun with your friend.
I personally think it would not matter to the child. The child if was a girl would not want to play with a toy that was made for a boy and its vice versa with a boy. They most likely want a toy that is made for them. Toys for girls and toys for boys.
Everyone is not the same so. Did you ever think about that GIENUS?
I totally agree with you. Gender-nature toys helps productions are targeted exactly with boy or girl. They can easy find toys which are suitable with them
I do not think that making a "gender organized" toy shop would be a good thing. Some little girls like to have some boy toys and some little boys might want some girl toys. I am not saying that a little girl would be running around the room with a Nerf Gun and I am not saying that a young boy would be wearing a princess gown around his house, but maybe there are some kids out there who would prefer other toys than the other kids. I do not have a younger brother or sister but I babysit some little kids who love to play with both girl and boy toys. Therefor, I think that organizing toys by your gender is not good.
i like your responce better than anyone elses and i totally agree because i know im not going to be running around with a nurf gun or anything like that but i have a younger brother that likes some of my things and im a girl, say i was in the toy store and i see a robotic dinosaur and i want it< there is absolutley no rule for me NOT to get it!
I think it is a good thing that stores are starting to do this because some girls like boy things and some boys might like girl thing it shouldn't be seperated because of gender.
this so true because like i said before i am a girl and i like ALOT of guy things
To be honest I agree with the critics, kids know what they want, so they'll just have to find it differently
I think it's a good idea. Kids know what they want. If the boy wants a girls toy this makes it less awkward.
Well, topics are confusing, but I still think it's gender-neutral. It's fine for my family, for my younger brother and sister, for them to relax, to being entertained, you know. And it's super! My siblings would love that idea!
I think its a wonderful idea to put the toy department into themes instead of having boy toys on one side and girl toys on the other . People don't want to be nervous about what other people think .
I think its a great idea! Just because the toy is wrapped in pink or blue plastic, doesn't mean that gender has to buy it.
I think young boy or girl are different interesting, ex your boy likes toys which are related to stronger action such as car, tank ...., another side, young girl likes doll, or something with many colors. Secondly, boy always thinks different girl about the way of play the toys. Girls play more carefully than boy :). So gender-neutral toy department would make a difference to their younger brother or sister.
I think that the sooner the world can break down the barriers that separate people from one another, the sooner our world will resolve issues like wars and debts to each other.
I think it's a good thing because it keeps children from thinking they have to play with certain toys because of their gender. For example, if I am a girl and I want to buy robots but they are in boys' section. So I would think one more time before I buy robot. 'Is this the right thing to do? I am a girl. So do I have to play with only dolls and tea set?' I think it would make a difference to my younger sister or brother.
i agree, because im a girl and i want to buy a toy car but its in the guy section! i really like this idea! 🙂 😀 🙂
I think this would be a great idea because it would be easier to find the items that we want. We could go to the section of the store and see the items that we want faster than having to go to the boys section then the girls. Why not have them togher?
I think it would be a good idea because it would be easyier. To find the item that your looking for. For exsample if your looking for a baby doll it would be listed under " dolls".
I think it is a good idea to put all the toys together because it would be easyier to find toys like legos and dolls for boysw and girls.
thank you for showing me the ideas you about the toys. I think you should put the toys together because it would be easier to find toys.
I think gender-neutral toy departments are a good idea because it doesn't kids don't have to feel "This is for girls and this is for boys." Type of thing
I think it seams good beacause girls need to be girls same thing with boys.
Gender neutral is a good idea because it can be really awkward to go into the other gender department. You are surrounded by people that are different from you, and it can be embarrasing.
I kind of think its a little bit over the edge. I remember when I was a kid I wanted like stuffed animals and stuff like that and I didnt care. I see where they're going if they're trying to stop bullying but still Boys want Boys Toys and Girls want Girls Toys. Thats how its always been and you cant change that. They're thinking too much about what if and not enough common sense. Next thing you know they're gonna put McDonalds toys as "Mixed Gender" toys. Its just a little dumb. Just Saying.
I think it dosnt really matter. the little kids like the toys they like not really a big differnce.
I do not think it makes a difference. Most boys know they want a boy toy and most girls know they want a toy for them. Kids usually know what they want even before they go to the store.
Im always lookin for a toy me and my bro can play with together.
Honestly I really don't like it. I know that most people probably think that it has something to do with sexists but, first of all, I doubt any 7 or so year old kid knows what sexism is let alone can define it. Another thing is that when your a little kid I doubt you'll care whether or not its a "boy toy" or a "girl toy" you'll just play with with anything that your parents buy you. So I think that we shouldn't worry about putting labels on little kids and their toys because, truthfully, they don't care they just want toys.
I find the change to be unnecessary or even benign – they are probably trying to appeal to a minority. Most boys play with a common type of toy, and most girls play with a type of toy common to them, and that's why stores have been set up with "boy" sections and "girl" sections.
i think they should just keep it the way it is. kids are happy. but if they want something else then they shouldnt feel blocked from looking for it in another ile.
I like that kids can get either toy with out it being a big deal! If one toy sells more than the others, they will just have to make more of those toys. I would think it would not matter because I would play with either one myself.
i think that the toys should just be split up so it will be easier to get the toys
I think the toys should be organized by what toys are similar. For instance, barbies are close to brats dolls and they lead to army men. They lead to fake guns and gender doesn't matter. I'm 12 and I play with boys stuff sometimes so put toys all together. So this way everything there!
I do not think this is right. What if someone wants, say a model airplane and it is under age 15 and for a boy. The person might be 10 and be a girl and can only buy plastic cheap things. That would not be right. I think there should not be available.
i totally agree 🙂 😀 🙂 😛 this is how they should of done a long time ago!
Can I ask your argument? Or actually to rephrase the comment?
I think there is incredible insight in this comment... If I could understand it.
No, I think they should be separate. Most girls don't like looking at boys toys and visa versa.
but that still leaves a question wether the toys are male or female toys, yall are confusing the children of this world. let boys be boys and girls be girls.
I think this is a good idea because kids can pick toys out by interest not by gender.
Agreed!
I think it's a good idea to mix the toys up because perhaps some boys would want to play with toys that are targeted toward girls and girls may want to play with toys that are targeted toward boys. It's silly to have completely separate sections for each gender.
I didn't know that sections were divided in department store according to gender, but I always refused to play with dolls my parents bought me. I think it would be same with the gender-neutral toy department. KIds already know what other kids with same gender plays.
I think that it is a good idea to put girl's toys together with the boy's toys. Girls have a right to play with traditionally boys toys.
We think the girl and boy toys should stay separated.
I'm not sure what to think. Children may have a more welcome approach to different toys, but some may have trouble deciding what they want.
It won't make any difference to me, I will still just go in and find what I want. Besides, I am color-blind and so who cares.
I like the idea of gender-neutral toy departments because some girls like cars and some boys like girl things.
I think that separating toys from gender is a terrible idea. I know when I was a child I played with boy toy action figures all the time, and I sure do know my brother played with my barbies too! It's not a big deal to have the toys together, so why keep them separated?
i believe that it really wont make a difference in how the kids will act with toys. but the toys for both boys and girls would be easier yet complicated. there are toy kids want for their own gender .
i would just keep it the same, because its so big that if you don't know what you want , you'll be totally lost
I do not feel that having gender-neutral toy section will make any difference in the long run. Children play with what they want and already have an idea of what toy they will get at the toy store. When I was younger I used to play with hot-wheels and other "boy" toys and my brothers would play with girl toys. It did not matter if they were made for our gender or where they were located. We played with what we want and no placement of certain will change it.
I honestly do not think that making a gender-neutral toy will make a difference. Commercials are already showing the kids the products on the television , so they are aware of what they want before they get to the store. On the other hand i know a lot of little girls that like to play with boy toys and their parents think that that is a problem. This new idea might become helpful in certain situations , though!
I think its a fine idea. I don't think it seems like it really matters if you separate toys according to gender, either way kids will still have a preference on what toys they like and what toys they really want to get. They just wont define them as a boy toy or a girl toy anymore.
To me it does not matter what gender of a child to play with toys. They should be able to play with any type of toy that they want and not have to be genderized because someone thinks it should be.
I think that it doesn't matter if they put the toys in the group or if they put them by gender. If the kids want to play with the opposite gender toys, then let them. Have your kids choose if they want to play with different kinds of toys.
I don't think that stores should have different aisles for different genders because if a kid really wants a toy that's in an aisle that isn't their gender, they might feel bad or be afraid that they'll get made fun of. Kids should be able to make their own decisions on what toys they want to play with.
I don't think that this would matter because little kids don't notice those things. I mean if stores want to try it, they should try to let people know about where things will be. I really don't think that this would matter to them at all anyways.
I agree at the fact of people already know what there going to get before entering the store
Yes, because the toys would be easier to find by the children.
I think that this is helpful because some kids or people can fear being judged for going into the other section of the toy section because they are a boy in the girl section or vice verse.
I think toys should not be grouped together by topics, because some girls might not like lego to play with. So they should not have genral sections and just put the toy in catorgers like legos in one area and barbes in a diffrent section.
I think that us kids should know what we want to get at the store. A boy and a girl know which toys to look at. There hasn't been any problem with the toys so just keep it the same how it always been for years.
Gender neutral is a better way to do anything. Take a man or boy who enjoys Hasbro's 'My Little Pony' franchise, for example. These boys shouldn't feel as if they would be ridiculed if they were shopping in the 'Girls Section'. This solidifies the age old double-standard: Guys cannot play with 'Girl's Toys' ; Girls can and are encouraged to play with 'Boy's Toys.'
There is lots of mixed toys, But most girls like girl toys and boys like boy toys. So yes, they should be divided into two seperate areas.
I think that kid toys should not be gendral nutral . I think that because it would take a will to find a boy or girl toys. They can find what they want easly then having to looking throw all the boys and girl toys. Kids like boys dont have to look throw all the makeup and barby dalies. Thats whant I think.
there are toys for girl and toys for boys . and it shouldnt matter that girls toys should be on one side boys toys should be on the others side .and like legos its for boys and girls, i mean i played with legos when i was younger or another one like squinkes they are for boys and girl so it really shouldn"t matter .
I think kids should be able to play with all toys. Because, they are very fun, enjoyable and entertaining. Boys should be able to play with girl toys and girls should be able to play with boy toys. Because boys and girls are created equal.
I think it's a good thing. It could help kids become less bias against certain toys.
I think that boys and girls should be able to play with whatever toys they want. I don't think labeling boys and girls on toys means anything because, this is America and as Americans we have the right to play with whatever toys we want to.
Yes, I think gender neutral toy departments are a great idea because then kids can pick whichever toy they want. With gender neutral toy departments a girl can choose a boy toy and vice versa.
Yes because my sister like to play with boy and girl toys so that was a wonderful idea.
Yes,It does make a difference! This is great for girls and boys that like to make play with different gender toys. Now, someone can't judge a boy or girl because they are play with different genders.
No I do not think that toy gender neutral is a good idea because most boys don't play with girl dolls and they should not have to just to play with a wrestling action figure.Girls also should not have to play with a Barbie wrestling doll.
Yes I think the gender neutral toy departments does make a different becuse same kids might not have that want same toy for thereself.and kids that have toy can have some more.
you said it girl 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
I think that it would make a difference and it wouldn't make a difference. I think that it would make a difference because it would let boys and girls know that it's okay for boys and girls to play together. I think that it wouldn't make a difference beacause the boys and girls toys would still be separated except they would be in the same aisle.
Yes, I think it is a great idea because I love boy toys so I can pick my own toy. With the Idea of the toy department a girl or a boy can pick any toy they want.
No,i think the boys and girls siekshen,s shud be sepret so boys can get whet they .
Whant and girls get whet they need.
My oppion is yes because kids dont know witch is witch they just want to play with a toy there are tom boys they might want to play with a car or something and there are Tom girls might want to play with a doll. There is nothing wrong with mixing the toys together the kids they might just see a toy they like and pick it up.
I think it doesn't do anything at all. I think it just makes suff hard to say if you want batman which is it
Yes, it all should be in one big group so they can get what ever they want and by what ever Thayer want
Yes,It will affect me and my little sister because both me and her love going down the girls isle at all stores because of all of the pink and bratz dolls and barbies and as soon as we see the two lines of pink we love it and we love seeing the dress up things but mixing the boys isle with the girls isle will be a mix of pink and gray and black and brown.
No, I think that gender neutral toy department shoulde not let little boys play with girl stuff and little girls play with boy stuff so it can be fair too others. Cause what me and my sister play with my brother don't like playing with it and what he play with wea don't like playing with that.So it not fair too me cause a boy playing with an doll that's not right. And an girl playing with a bat-man toy is not right ethier. So they need too keep it how it is a boy toy is a boy toy and a girl toy is a girl toy.
This comment by India is exactly the reason why a gender neutral toy department might be a good idea. What exactly is "not right" about a boy playing with a barbie? This child appears to have been raised to believe its actually WRONG for a girl to want to play with a batman toy. Children should of course be allowed to play with whatever toy they want, without feeling they are doing something wrong. As a girl, my Barbies lived in towns built out of legos which were constantly under attack by dinosaurs and superman would lead a team of gi Joe's in to help fight them off. Then the toy trucks would come in and rebuild. That's how kids play. I agree that most kids know what they want prior to entering the store so it seems that it would be easier to have a gender neutral store where they could simply find the barbies in the barbie section and trucks in the truck section and legos in an area with other building blocks. Easier than having to look through the boy or girl section until they find the desired toy, am I right? Regardless, no child should ever feel like its wrong for them to want any particular toy. So if doing away with gender organized sections helps children to either feel more comfortable or more easily locate an item, then I'm all for it. Most importantly though, we need to do whatever possible to help remove gender bias from the lives of our children. It broke my heart to read some of these comments; like the above post from India-its not WRONG to want to play with a toy designed for the opposite gender, but it IS incredibly wrong to let our children believe that theres something wrong with them for wanting to do so.

Yes.It would make a difference because some girls like boy toys and some boys like girl toys and bcause so you would not at to go across the store and so it can be more space for other stuff for.
Yes, I think it does make a difference Because I think that it's fair for boys to play with girl toys and and girls to play with boy toys .And my sister plays with trucks and other boy toys.
Yes, I think gender neutral toy department is good for the little girls and boys.
Now if it gets to be like that then that is a great idea because girls can pick a boy toy
if they wanted too and boy can pick a girl to play with. I do think gender neutral toy department
does make a difference.
There's a toy for a girl and a boy each toy has a value and each girl or boy has a opinion about the toy, A girl can have a boy toy and a boy can have a girl toy.A girl or boy are able to choice to pick what toy they want.
yes I think that gender neutral because boys and grils can play with toys.grils can play with boys toys and grils can play with boys toys.the boys and grils can play with anything.i think that it don't matter if boys play with grils toy and grils can play with boy toys.it be fare if boys and grils can play together .
No, I think that gender-neutral departments should separate the toys by gender. I think that separating the toys would be a good idea because a girl can pick any girl toy they want and a boy can pick any boy toy they want.
yes, I think gender neutral toy department because a boy can play with a girl to if they "want to" like me I sometimes played witha doll thats why I like the gender neutral toy department.
Yes!I think that gender is a great store for kids, for example, some kids don't have toys to play with. And I think that this toy store is great for this eviroment. For example I love boy toys there nothin wrong with girls playing with boys toys an there's nothing wrong with Boys playin with girl toys an that's how I fell about this. To.Cnn Student News
I belive that the toys should be mixed because it will help childeren think that they do'nt have to play with certin toyst. To further explian my newphew would play dolls, littlest pet shops and other things with me when i was younger. Because he had an older sister he was use to playing with girl like toys. Additionally, I would play with boy toys cause i had older brothers. So it just depends on what the kids like to play with and where they come from... thats all.
They shouldn't be divided by gender because some boys like girl toys and some girls like boy toys.
I think that it is better if they don't have separate locations because it would be a lot easier to go to an area with all girl and boy clothes than to wonder around a huge thing of clothes and hoping to find the right pair.
Our Middle School BOYS think that the toys should be grouped gender specific. They feel this way so they can find boy's stuff on one side and girl's stuff on the other side, much easier.
AAARRRGGGHHH! Sounds like a bunch of hooey replacing common sense. I am a "tom boy" from way back. Sports, bikes, and war games instead of dance lessons, tea parties, and dolls. Although my mother would have loved a girlie girl she loved ME for ME more.
My husband and I have 2 daughters and 2 sons. They are individuals with likes and dislikes that sometimes follow gender specific lines but more often zig and zag. We, as parents, try to encourage them to be as self aware as possible. It is common sense!
Same here!!
I think that toys can be played by either side don't matter by gender it's what the child wants.
I think it dose not make any difference how you organise toys but how easy it is to find them.
i totally agree
I really don't think that making toy stores gender-neutral will change much. The genders are very different, but also very similar. Also, each individual is different and unique. So while I do think that some boys like to play with traditionally "girls" toys or some girls liking to play with traditionally "guys" toys, I don't think that arranging stores differently will change much.
On a different note, I do like the idea of organizing toys by type rather than gender. To me, it makes more sense in an organizing type of view. 🙂
Seperate sections because I am not interested in looking at girl toys.
I think "All Together" because many toys can be enjoyed by both boys and girls.
this is a fantastic idea. kids shouldnt worry about what colors their toys are, or who else is playing with them. they should be thinking about if the will be playing with them. if a little girl wants a nerf gun instead of a barbie doll thats okay.
I think it shouldn't matter. The kids will get upset for having a girl/boy toy but if you can't tell difference it won't matter. There will be no hurt feelings.
I think that they should keep the toys for boys and girls seperately
bwahahahahaha i think its an amazing idea brah 😀
I don't nescesarrily think that it will make all that much of a difference. I boys want to play with "girls" toys then they can go into the girls aisle. If you're already playing with girls toys it shouldn't be uncomfortable to go a nd granb sonething. Also changing the layout confuses loyal customers and people who have been to gender catagorized stores. I think that it will confuse people and that there might be some complaints. This is just my take on the subject though.
I think it is a good idea to have all of the toys together, and not spread out like girl toys on one side and and boys on the other side.
hahahahah no you wont be able to find stuff when you are shoping
I quickerthink they should stick to girl and boy seperation. Its faster a and more efficient to find things.
i think this is fare to boys and girls to come together in a toy store alike to each other and not judging any one.
That's nice but did you mean fair (equal for boys and girls) or fare (an cost)?
I think that it is a fine idea for Harrods because if boys want to play with girl toys and girls want to play with boy toys it is fine .
yes i do think it makes a differance because it is not fair that girls cant play with boy toys and boys cant play with girl toys.
but you see, girls can play with a boy toy but they might be embarrassed by doing so. i have a friend who is a guy and he has some barbies and his sister hyas bionicles and halo.
I don't think it matters if a toy is recommended for a boy or girl a persons gender does not matter i think the store is awsome for changeing the sections
Some people might be embarrassed when they try to buy something meant for a different gender.
This might resolve the issue some what, but it truthfully depends on the item they wish to purchase.
This makes it a bit more simpler to find an item by searching through its category.
Yes, I like the idea because a girl can find the toys she likes in one department and the same for boys. It would be a lot easier to find what you're looking for instead of having toys scattered all over the store.
I think that it is a good thing that there is a section for the toy companies so girls won't think it is weird to go to the boys section or the boys to go to the girls section. They should have them all across the world. It would make a big difference in the world.
I think kids should be able to pick the toys they want. Liking toys is same as liking movies, boys and girls can like the same movies so why not toys?
i think it's up to the kids they should play with what they want to play with. Whether it be for boy or girl
I think its a smart idea so boys and girls dont feel so out of place in one or the other toy section.
After reading "Gender-Neutral" Toy Departments on "Cnn student news", i started to ratiocinate on "should boy toy's be together with girl toys?". So i came up with my answer, and boy toys with girlks toys MIGHT sound like a really cogent way to get girls and boys together, but it really isint. See we boys like to go get our toys where boys are at because we can relate, just like girls relate with their dolls. So imagin, a girl asking a boy "What doll do you like? The pink on or the blue one?", and the boy said "Which action hero do you like? Super-man or Batman?". At that moment, we can see that there is no CONNECTION with each other because they both like diffent gender toys. So when it comes to mixing boy toys and girl toys, my answer is NO IT WOULD NOT BE A GOOD IDEA TO MIX THE TWO GENDER TOYS.
I think toy stores should be organized in different sections for boys and girls. I think this because if someone was looking for a birthday or Christmas present for a family member, it would be hard to figure out what kind of toy they would want if all of the sections were combined with toys that mostly girls bought, and mostly boys bought. I think that having different sections for boy and girls in a toy store is great. Even if you come in not knowing what you want, you can go into your section and find something that you would want without questioning if it was a girl toy or a boy toy. It would be embarrassing if you went out to by a doll, and you ended up buying a boy’s action figure instead because you didn’t know that it was a toy that mostly boys bought. Also it is not a big deal if you wanted a boy toy and you were a girl, and vise-versa.
I honestly think that they should put all the toys in categories. Because it stops kids from worrying about what toys they have to play with , and then it is easier to find toys as well if you already know what the kids want. Think about it like this, if you were a little girl a parent would most likely direct you where all the girl toys are , but what if instead of a baby doll you desperately wanted blocks to build a fort or something. You wouldn't want to have to speak up to your parents and say " Mommy I want to go look at the boy toys" . Or if you were a little boy who really wanted a fuzzy teddy bear that you saw in the girl section but your older brother let's say leads you straight to the boy section. You don't want to have to go up to your older brother and go , " Can we go to the girl toys?" Having these categories stops kids from worrying about what toy they want to play with and also stops them from having to deal with the embarrassment of asking to go to the boy section or girl section. So all in all I like that Harrods put their toys into categories and I hope that it stays that way.
I don't think it really matters the kids know what they want to play with so why should it matter how the tows are arranged?? Although having them gender arranged makes it easier to find what you are looking for rather than having to search the whole store to find one item.
Yes it makes a difference because girls like barbie dolls and boys like monster cars. But,the kids wont really care because they might see the toy they like and take it. Its much easier for kids and its more organized.
I think it is a great idea because some girls like playing (for example) with cars and POKEMON and some boys like to play with kitchen sets and dolls. It is a marvellous idea.
I think it's like a tradition; when kids are born, girls get pink rooms and boys get blue rooms, girls get dolls and boys get video games. When kids go to Harrods they will most likely look for their gender's section because that's the things they've grown up with. The idea of a gender-neutral toy department is unique and a cool thing to try, but I think it would just make things confusing.
I think that this might help kids not be so embarrased because of the toy they want;for example,if a boy wanted a toy that was traditionally sold to girls,he wouldn't have to be seen walking through the girl's department. It might be a small struggle at first for longtime shoppers there to get used to the change in where the items are to be found, but overall will probably make kids feel less embarrassed.
I believe that both ways of separating toys is a good idea. I am a girl and if I wanted something boyish I would be okay with walking into the boys section of toys and grabbing it. But I would probably quickly run out. So putting boys and girls toys together but grouped by type of thing (magical, science, ponyland, etc.) is not a bad idea to keep girls who want boy things and vice versa from getting picked on by the people who want to buy only girls stuff or only boys stuff.
yes, I think toy stores should be gender-neutral because girls and boys should be able to pick the types of toys they would like, regardless of their gender. They're are grls who like to play with cars, action figures, etc. and there are boys who like to play with puppets and blocks!
i think its a good idea because that way everyone could find thing better, but a bad idea if someone wants to buy a toy that's not in their gender.
I think it's a good idea, as it will make kids less embarrassed when buying certain toys, like, a girl who wants a Black Widow toy, but it's grouped with the Avengers as "boy's toys". I think gender-neutral is a great idea.
I think thats smart to do because when I was growing up I always thought some of the boy toys were so cool, but I felt like I couldn't have then because I was a girl.
What a cogent idea! By separating toys by category, not only are toy department stores making locating a toy ten times easier, they are also taking off society's gender labels and allowing kids to play with whatever they want. Efficiently, America is beginning to enable kids to choose what to play with and not have to face embarrassment. Still, some of the other comments render that this will just make finding a toy more difficult or that it doesn't make a difference in which toys will be chosen. However, if boys are not raised to believe that they can only play with Nerf guns and girls are not raised to believe that they should only play with Barbies, then they wouldn't have those stereotypes in their heads. This is a brilliant idea and it will also help reduce confusion of where toys are in the store.
i think we should split toys up by the gender that usually plays with them. i don't think girls are gonna play with batman or halo and boys playing with barbies isn't a common thing. if they are separated into boy and girls sections, ots easier to find what you need.
I am so happy that Harrods is doing this, and I hope other stores start to follow it's shining example. As a gender neutral teen I know for a fact how easy it is to be influenced by society trying to put everyone into a catagory. Kids should not have to feel that they have to like something because of their gender. We all have to learn to put less stock in a person's gender and more into who they are on an individual basis.
I don't think it really matters if there is a boy or girl section kids can pick whatever toy they want to play with. It may be helpful to have them in different sections so that it easier to find what kind of toy you wanted, but otherwise it really doesn't make life much tougher with the toys all mixed up.
Creating gender-neutral isles gives kids less stress on which type of toys they must play with. Without gender-neutral sections, most children are put in a spot where they must play with toys for their gender, or else they are considered different. Most children today, often ratiocinate about how a toy would affect their social status, and how others think of them. Gender-neutral isles also make searching for new toys easier. Keeping gender-neutral sections allow kids to choose toys that they think are are seminal and right for them.
After watching these news, many people were interested in the topic. Many ratiocinate it is silly for people to disagree with such idea. Others say that the separation of toys is normal and what should be inforced in an every toy store. People all over are giving their thoughts about this seminal idea. Obviously, people have very different opinions, but most do not have a problem with a store that has all of the toys together, without any gender separations. Before the 21st century, people belived in major separations and boundaries, but in this modern world, people are breaking those boundaries and promoting equality in all aspects.
A gender neutral toy department would teach kids to not be embarrased by what kind of toys they play with. It would show them that no toy can be to girly or to boyish for them to play with. All children were made equal, so that means that kids can play with whatever toy they like no matter what gender you are.
The choice of toy is up to the kid. Sure, it's nice having separate parts of the store, so that the kids can find their toy quicker. But if a girl wants a boys toy, she won't be embarrassed about looking in the boys section anymore.
In the kind of world we live in now, I don't think that my younger siblings would care. As stated in the question, kids know what they want and before that, they were cogent enough to find their own toys are still are cogent now. Though the things in the gender sections are probably accurate, there are some kids who like different toys. Many kids like remote helicopters, but that would probably be in the boys section, emphasizing my point about likes and dislikes with kids these days. If you ratiocinate about what Harrods did, it is very much like Toys-R-Us in the U.S. So I don't think that my younger siblings would care about gender sections.
I think that boys and girls should be allowed to have whatever toy they choose.
I think that bringing "gender-neutral" toys into the market will be very controversial factor in all young children's life. Whether they choose or not to get one, it may cause issues like being bullied or made fun of for having a toy meant for the other gender.
Truthfully, I agree with having a gender neutral store because it does make it better for kids. For instance, a gender neutral store will be based on themes so a kid would not have to worry about being embarrassed just because they like a different gendered toy. Critics have rendered about it not making a difference because kids already know what they want to buy, but some kids like to browse and look around and themes will help them better locate the toys they want to browse. Like me for instance, I like to go in and browse for toys, but certain toys I like are always on the boys section so I would much prefer a neutral gender store too! Clearly, neutral gender store would fit my sister the best. My little sister tends to ratiocinate over toys a lot, but she likes toys like trucks and cars. When she goes to the toy car sections she tends to be the only girl and it makes her feel weird.
I think gender netural toy department will make different. My brother would always want to play with dolls of stuff animal. by making the toy department gender netural he will not have to embarresed. i my self also would rather play or buy boy toys. by doing this maybe parent can be more understanding whatever their child wants to pick.
As rendered from supporters, "gender neutral" toy department are meant for kids to be able to choose whatever toy(s) they want without feeling ashamed because of gender related reasons. It allows kids to want to get toys, whether those toys are mostly marketed for boys or for girls. Other non-gender neutral stores may make children feel limited to the toys they want. For example, a boy may want to play with a toy in the girl's section, but won't want to get it because of the fact that it is meant for girls. "Gender neutral" stores are either a good or non-affective display to children, but they are not negative for any child. To most children, however, this will most likely not make a significant difference. Recapitulating, "gender neutral" stores are beneficial to some children, but do not make a big difference.
After reading “Gender-Neutral Toy Departments,” the idea of not grouping toys by gender sounds a lot better. Since toys were usually separated according to this, boys and girls might have thought that going into the other gender’s area of selection would be awkward and embarrassing. Without this layout, both boys and girls would be more open and willing to explore different toy designs without fear or distress of classmates or other people that would tease them seeing. Clearly, because people now care a lot about what people think of them, many kids would ratiocinate this a relief. Besides the customer benefits, the companies would also sell more with kids of both genders wanting and buying their products. This seminal idea would render many more children jubilant.
I most diffidently think it makes a difference because what this store did was amazing and I love how girls can play with "boy toys" and boys can play with "girl toys" without feeling bad that its in the "girl section"/"boy section". so hopefully stores around the world will become "gender-neutral" . because not only its helping there company but its makeing kids around the world to feel ok with girls playing with "boy toys" and boys playing with "girl toys".
After reading "Gender-Neutral Toy Department", many of these critics say is a cogent idea to do this because children have to play with toys specified for the gender of the boy or girl. But others, ratiocinates its a waste of time to do this because many children already made up there mind on what toy they want before even entering the toy store. Throughout the store, it might make it harder for children to find the to they have in mind. Children go into the store and come right out with their toy, because its easier to find their toy. but if employees organize them by gender, children will take longer to find toys. But other children might like the idea of categorizing it by gender. In the end, it all depends on the children and how they prefer it to be, categorized by gender or categorized by theme.
I think its okay to mix them up because it doesn't matter about your gender. Its what you like that matters. Some girls might like boy toys and some boys might like girl toys. it doesnt matter.
I honestly think gender neutral toy stores wouldn`t be a good idea because you wouldbhave guys looking at things like cars, action figures, tech decks, etc and then all of a sudden, in the same isle, he be looking at (not intionaly) some toy like barbie and hello kitty or polly pocket. Same with a girl. It would just seem weird and could potentionaly become a awkward situation for him/her.
I think it really depends on the child and how they look at toys. Every child has their own opinion or point of view.
I don't think it makes a difference if the toys are mixed or if they are arranged according to the gender. Any child that goes to a store is going to decide which toy they want to get. Most kids go by the appearance and what catches their attention. If they are separated it is much easier for either gender to find what their looking for or if they don't know what they want, it would be more easier for them to decide what they prefer. If the toys are mixed no gender will get judged or made fun of by what they decide to purchase. For example if a girl decides to buy a "hot-wheel car" instead of a "barbie car" it will be okay as long as the girl is content.
I do think that this a fantastic idea, and that it really doesn't matter who buys what. Hey, my sister and I liked Nerf guns instead of Barbie dolls when we were little! Things are starting to change in the way boys and girls see things, eg. toys, favorite colors, cooties, etc. Gender seperation in toys (and almost anything) is totally overrated.
thts rly good good you should check out my comment about this it is kinda long thought
U r right Haley and i did the same and almost is just changing in some stores
In my opinion, I think that this gender neutral marketing system is a pretty good idea. This way, children can learn to play with toys that may not be their kind of gender type. This can also help children learn not to judge other children by the type of toys they play with, but by who they really are on the inside.
I agree It shouldn't have to be girls play with girl toys all the time or boys play with boy toys all the time.
I think that’s a great response to this question, and I think that other people should follow your point of view. It’s great that you’re thinking about people’s opinions and such. There should really be more people in this world like you.
I love to hear this news. It would be a nice contribution of getting rid of the imaginary boundary between male and female.
I would love to visit the store also 🙂
I personally think this is a good idea. I remember being young, I always like a lot of the boy's toys more than the girl's toys. There's a lot of stigma around choosing things outside your gender, and I think that making the toy store gender-neutral will help bring down that wall, even if it's only by a little.
I know...I was the exact sme way when I was a little girl. For some reason I was so much more in trested in the boys toys then I was with the girls toys. I am still the same way with some of the boy toys that they are selling in the stores today.
I totally agree with you because I always injoy playing with nerf but they are in the boys section
I agree with you, and I still like some boy toys better than girl toys.......
In my opinion, I believe a gender neutral toy department wold not make a difference to my younger sister. My witty sister is 10 years old and extremely gregarious. She and her zany friends are quite loquacious. It would be myopic of me to ratiocinate that they would not discuss their favorite things to buy in great detail. Like most of her friends, she knows what she wants before she goes to the store. Therefore, I have a very strong opinion that a gender neutral toy department would have no impact on my younger sister at all.
I think its okay because it doesn't matter about yor gender. It matters about what you like. What if a girl whant to play with a boy toy and a boy wants to play with a girl toy. it doesn't matter about your gender.
A gender-neutral toy department would make a difference to my younger brother or sister. Even though this is not a seminal idea, it is a wonderful one. By having a gender-neutral toy store, children wouldn’t think that they have to play with certain toys. For example, if a girl wants to play with superhero action figures but it is targeted towards boys, she might have second thoughts. At a toy department that is gender-neutral, she might not feel afraid or ashamed to play with boys’ toys because they won’t be targeted towards a certain gender. A cogent person would have a gender-neutral toy department.
I think the toy department should be gender-neutral. It would be better for kids to play with whatever toy they want.
I think it is a good idea, so if boys want a barbie for their GIjo's they would be to embarrassed to go in the girl section, they would think that if they are a boy they have to be in the boy section. So, if they separate toys by barbies and GIjo's ,wheels and,legos... just think, it is a better idea that toy's are kept by theme.
I think that your comment is very good, because that is true a boy doesn't want to be emmbaresed by a girl just because they wanted to get a toy from the girls section. Everyone should be able to choose what toy that they want to.
Great Comment!!!!!
It'll be much better if the toy store was gender-neutral. We can't do anything to the children's taste for their favorite toys.
We were pretty much split right down the middle. Many students felt that it made sense to have it broken down by boy and girl departments. They felt it would be easier to find the stuff you wanted that way. Others felt that if the store was organized gender neutral then kids would be able to find the category of toy easier.
I disagree with the kids who think that it should be seperated. I mean some girls like the boys toys like swords and all of that other stuff. And boys may like some girls toys like barbies for their super hero action figures. Still your guys oppinion and I will respect that. Good job you guys!
here here here here.
It doesnt really matter untill there like 7.
Why does being seven matter?
I think it is a good idea!
because then that way little kids have the chance to interact with each other when they are buying', also because they can still have the chance to go around and find new things that they didnt know they even existed'
I don't think it matters. Toys are toys either there girl or boys. . YUP!
GOD BLESS BRO:)
I think it matters because a boy might not feel comfortable being around all those dolls or girl stuff when he is trying to look for a boy's toy. Same for the girl, she isn't going to feel comfortable looking for her toys when she has boy's toy all around. They should just leave it as it is and have their own sections.
I'm out, dueces..
I really am neutral on this. I say its up to the kids on what they want to play with whether it a Barbie or Legos. Its what amuses them. The only setback would be it makes it harder for parents to find certain toys.
I totaly agree.
Everyone observes things differently. I understand that most of the kids know what they're going to get before they get to the store. So wouldn't it be easier for them to go to a certain gender aisle instead of trying to find it through all the girl and boy toys together? I think it's best if boy and girl toys stay separate.
Same here. It would be very hard to find toys if they were mixed together.
I Believe that it doesn't really matter where everything is placed. It only really effects the kids and how they will find the toys they want.
that is true
I agree, it is a kid's store and it doesn't effect anyone but the kids that go in there but I have to admit, I like that they don't have gender sections anymore.
I believe with u Grant I think u r right.
i think that boys and girls toys should stay the way they are because, its just a matter of opinion. Where the toys are doesn't matter.
I agree to disagree with you Karla because some children are afraid to play with the toys that they want to because the toys they like aren't in their gender section. By having this new placement children will become more confident in choosing the toys that they enjoy playing with. On the other hand, I do agree with you that it really is just a matter of opinion, but then again children have very strong opinions as well. If you really think about it, you will understand the pros and cons of having gender neutral toy departments. Please send me a reply if you ever read this reply to your message. Thanks Karla.
I do agree ,but I also don't agree.
II think it is fine
I think both types of toys should be together because some girls like to play with pokeman and nerf guns and what would happen to the general toys? I think they should be in differnt isles just to keep them organized.
I think that the gender neutral toy departments are a good idea because children have the freedom to choose what they want to play with. Girls don't have to play with dolls and boys don't have to play with cars. Children deserve the right to choose what types of toys that they want to play with. I think that by doing this, it will help kids to be more confident in choosing what they want to play with. Anyway, it really doesn't matter where the toys are placed or who plays with them. The only conflict with having the toys in themes is that it will be harder for the parents to find.
i think this would make a big difference...little boys even know when they look at a toy they know if its for a girl or boy...how dissappointed would a little kid be if you told them they had to get a certain toy...they would be pretty upset if they had to play with a baby or barbie doll...little kids know what they want...they dont need adults telling them what they want...
I feel that boy and girl toys should be kept together because some boys want to play with girl toys and vice versa. Like nerf guns and boy America Girl Dolls.
i think it is a great idea because some kids does like to play with nsome "boy" toys and "girl" toys
In "Gender-Neutral Toy Departments,"Carlos Azuz rendered about the change of Harrod's toy department. Seminally, in most toy stores, toys are classified by what businessmen have labeled as toys for boys and toys for girls. Without the concern of teasing from their peers, children can choose whatever toy they desire. Since our civilization sprung up, steryotypes have been used to label what is right or wrong for each gender. By giving kids the chance to ratiocinate about not having to deal with teasing when they play with a certain toy opens their minds up to so much more. It breaks all steryotypes about what toy they should play with and not. With cogent ideas like these, the new generation could be less worried about labels and steryotypes unlike ours today.
this is a very good thing, because it teaches kids that boys and girls are equal. i applaud the toy store for this.after all the way people are nowa days they think one is better than the other.we are all special in our own way!
Kids of planet Earth know what kind of toys they want so where ever you put the toys they will still get what they want.
Not only would genderless toys help children become less sexist as they become older, but it will also help the companies from overstocking and making too many toys that will most likely not sell. Letting children use the same toys as each other also promotes a sense of unity and camaraderie between them.
I think they should be separated by gender because little boys are not gonna want to play with what what girls have. they are gonna say eww i don't want to play with anything a girl has because when they are little they all have "cudies" so i think it should stay separated.
I don 't personally think it is a big deal either way, but if a female wants a boy's toy what's stopping her.
Kids should be kids and play how they want to play. Thats what I did when I was younger. I would go from barbies to legos AS I PLEASED! It should be the same for anyone else. This is a free country right? WELL KIDS HAVE RIGHTS TOO!! Theres nothing that says boys have to play with Tonko Trucks and girls have to play with My Little Pony
I think it is a good idea to do the sections neutral ! 😀
I think that that boys and girls they should have there toys how they want.
i think boys and girls should be able to play with the same toys if the want to
I think that boys and girls should stay together because it doesnt really matter what gender u you are if your a boy or girl it doesnt really and what i m writing is just a opinoin its just crazy to sperate gender cause it just doesnt make any sense to seperate gender.
I think that it is the toy stores opinion to put the toys in any spot they think it should go in it does not matter if it is a boy or girl toy.
i think it is a good idea becase every one likes ther oune thing
I don't think it matters where toys are in a store or if the store are gender neutral or not.
I think there is absolutely no significant change if a store is gender nuetral or not. However, if I HAD to choose one, I think stores should be gender neutral. It doesn't hurt anyone, right? They should be organized by something else.
I think that toys can be played with on either side don't matter if it's a boy or girl it what the child wants
I thnk that gender neutral toy departments are fine. They help make it easier for children to find there toys and make it less of a hassle for my parents because I can just go in and find what I need and leave. With stores that have just mixed toys in each area I end up getting rushed by my parents because I am taking too long because all of the toys are mixed together.
just because the toys are separated by gender doesn't mean they can't get whatever toys they want. I think it was wrong that they didi that in the past but now it's probally better that they can choose what they want.
i think they should keep toys for boys and girls should be like it is now.
i think that toys should not be sepertetd by boys or girls toys because a girl choul want to play with a hotwells and a boy chould want to play with a barbie
I really dont think that it will effect any body. I mean you're still getting toys you will just have to find them in a different order or fashion it's not that big of a deal to me.
I am thrilled of the idea that having boy and girl departments mixed for the toy department in briten is a wonderfull idea yes you hav't to look alot longer but to me I think it is right. I also think it is right because the way stores are set up now is sexist. So I am proud of the owner in briten changed his store
i think that it does nao matter were the toys are placed because if a girl wants a boy toy they will look for it were ever it is and it is the same for boys.
I think that kids should be able to play with what ever they like and with what ever they want. I mean really its not against the law. Kids of all ages paly with teddy bears even my 14 year old brother. So do whatever you want.
I think that it is a good idea because , boys and girls when they ar young they want to be them and people don't like to be told what they have to be or what they have to get they like to just be them and so with all the toys beingin the same place kids can get the toy that they want and it will be easy.
I for one think this is a great idea. Kids sometimes want to play with different toys, now they don't feel like they have to play with a certain toy. If boys like to play with Barbies, that's fine. If girls want to play with little Nerf guns or GI Joes IT IS FINE! This is me just expressing my opinion.
I think this is a good idea beacause some girls are into boy stuff. And also I think that many girls including me hate the color pink I also think that many girls also hate Justin Bieber especialy me I think that the song baby is annoying. I also think that its a matter of opinion.
i think that boys and girls toys can go around to everyone because what if a boy wants a doll for its birthday money but you can't do that because girls section it's only for girls
I dont think that it makes a difference. My little sister is 3 and she loves Toy Story. She gets her Toy Story toys in the boys section. Any boy or girl should be able to go in the boys or girls section to get any toy they want without feeling weird about it. It doesnt matter !!!!!!
I think that boys and girls toys should be put together, because I don't think it really matters if they are put together. Sometimes girls play with boys toys, and other times boys would play with girls toys so that's why I don't think it matters if girls and boys toys are put together.
I think it is a great idea to that, for example Pokemon is manliy for boys some girls still play with pokemon toys, cards boardgames ect.
All kids should be able to choose their toy so that they don't feel like that because of their gender they can't play with other toys.
i think thats a great idea
where is the toy store locate is at newyork or savannah or neworld orlean or what o yeah how long have being running this show for 20 year or 10 week or just got started oor just got to the last final show and teel why how when or something
Skipping School
I think skipping school is bad for your grade. What they are probaly doing is acting sick so there moms or dads would let them stay home. If you miss a lot of dayns you can get hold back and you dont want to stay in the same grade again. But if you are sick you can stay home just bring a note so they will not count you as assmmpet.
I think that Gender – Neutral is a bad idea because al boys and girls should have the right to pick a toy they want. Boys might want a girl toy. Or a girl might want a boys toy. It doesnt matter what they want if they want to get something girly or a boys toy it doesnt matter its just a toy. This is my opinion.
i think the toys need to be in a seperate section because i think it would probably be easierto get what you are looking for. and it would have half of kids on one side and another half on the other. and the boys and girls might fight over which toy they get. because some kids like girl toys some kids like boy toys so if they all get seperated it would probably be easier.
i think it is great idea because when i was young i would hear boys talking "why is she in the boys section she is a girl" well that doesent matter at all when i was young i would race cars with my brother and play video games i liked that kind of stuff some girls like monsters or monstertrucks because it was cool to them and they didnt care that they would make fun of them i think it is a great idea and they should keep it that way i think every store should have that in there stores and i aprove of the idea
They sure going to be alots toys there I also wonder how many toy they make a day.they should be a lot of money for the toys .....!!!!
it is up to the kids to find the toys
I think that it is a good idea because that means that you don't have to go place to place just to find something you can just go to one place and stay in that place because they both might be in the same place.:)
I think that it shouldn't matter if a girl wants to play with a boy toy or a boy wanting to play with a girl toy. I think they shouldn't divide it because not everybody wants to play with their gender of toys.
I think that this is a good idea because you dont have to look in a specific place to find your toys you can just go to that one ille and find that toy
I think its a better idea because people have different personalities and opinions which means that they will have different toys that they want. I agree that the store changed it, and other stores should do that with toys too.
I think that the toys department should be gender-neauteral, because there are girls who like to play with toy car and thoe action figures and swords and all of those toys. There are also boys who may like to play with girls toys, which is not a bad thing. It all depends on who likes what kind of toys. So yes department stores should be gender-neutral.
I thikg the neutral gender toys are a good idea beacause maby some kids get bored of there gender toy and might want to play with the other genders toys.
I think I like the new idea because it doesn't make girls feel like they have to play with girl toys they can also play with boys.Anyways girls and boys shounldn't have to be able just to play with there own type of gender toy.
I think that there shouldn't be a "Gender Organized" toy store. It may sound a little awkward but what if a girl want something out of the boy's section and maybe not most likely to happen, a boy might want to pick something out from the girl's section? Think about it, a little kid shouldn't have to worry what section of a toy store they are searching in. It's a toy store they went there to get toys not thinking" Now, what section should I search in?" Now, if they are looking for a particular toy for their gender then maybe the gender organization could help but, they are little kids and this is a toy store they aren't looking for a certain toty they are looking for any toy because "They" know it's a "Toy Store."
I think that it is a good thing that they are doing that to me there should not be a speration between the to the boys and the girls should be together and it will save room for other stuff.
I think it's a good idea not having places just for girl toys and just for boy toys. I think that because Maybe there is a toy in the boy section they want and the other way around to. Also it seems more ligit.
I honestly think it would be confusing if every thing wasnt ordered by boy and girl toys. Thats just me though.
I think it's a goood idea because some kid won't have to worry about sharing the same toys. Also it's a good idea because some stores just sell mor boys toys than girl toys. So thats why it's a good idea because this store sell different toys that kids like.
I think they shouldn't separate the toys because some girls like boy toys and they wouldn't want the isle to tell them what they want to buy because of their gender. I knew a boy who liked girl toys and if he would have went into that store he would be mad because he would have to buy toys he didn't want to buy.
i thank that the boys and girls should have ther on toy box so the girl can keep her toys in her box and the boy can keep his toys in his so they don't get mixt up and they can have different colors so if they poot them in the same spot they will no wich one is who say the boy had a blue one and the girl had a pink one then they can tell wich one is wich or they can poot girl and boy on ther's
I think that there should not be any seperations of the toys kids play with. Me i think that the gender of a toy is not wht color it is or what it is, i believe that the seperations of a toy is what you think of it. Say you have a pink racecar and a kid walks up to you and says hey thats a girl toy. You would probably say no its not, its a racecar, then the other kid would say its pink and probably walk away. then you would say to yourself it doesnt matter if this race car is pink its still a racecar why should the color decide wht gender toy it is. Me im a boy and i like the color PINK its not a girl color its what you think of it!!! 🙂 🙂 remember the color doesnt matter, and say it is a girl toy like a barbie that doenst matter kids should be allowed to play with what ever toy they want.
I totally agree with you because I have always liked nerf but they are in the boys section
I support the fact that the store separates the toys by type and not by gender. My cousin got a nerf gun for his birthday and his sister was mad she got a pink purse. Her mom explained that it was a boys toy,but realy its for anyone. Personaly I like most of the boys toys my self. 😛
I think it is a great idea because, evan though lego and star wars is for boys, doesn't mean girls can't play with it or made fun of if they are. Also if a boy likes little pet shop or dolls dosen't mean, they can't be seen with it or shoping with it.
I think it matters but some people might think it does't matter.I think it does because if it was might not be happy because I could't find my toy so thay should keep them spreat for boys and girls can find what thier looking for
im a girl like i said in alot of my replies and i have a younger brother asnd he LOVES some of my stuff including a little stuffed animal! but he should be allowed to play with this and the gender organizantion is a bad idea! say im in the toy store and i see a really cool robotic dinosaur and i want it< there is absolutely no rule that says i CANNOT buy it!
i thik that they should keep the boy and girl toys seprate because that would be to weird because little boys might pick girl toys and girls boy toys.this is just what i think.Peace
I thank it get becuae some of the gril toy's mixed with boy toy's but doesn't matter to the kids
i belive that gender neutral toy departments will have an effect on the toys that are somwhat gender neutral but not compleatly gender neutral
that would be confusing to and it would be harder to find toys for boys and girls.
I think I like Harrod's new idea. Now when kids come in they can explore the store and not look directly in their section. When ever I visit a toy store I know I like to look around and not just stay in my section of the store. So I say that Harrod's came up with a brilliant idea to change around the toy store and stop making the store gender sectioned. Everyone is going to have a different opinion on this but I think Harrod's should keep doing what they are doing now. 🙂
it would be okay because you could know where all the toys are
I think boys and girls toys should stay the same because its easyer to find the toy the kids wants
I believe that it doesn't matter where or how the toys are grouped. I think that because girls could like boy toys and boys coud like girls toys. If it's grouped with boys toys in one section and girls in anther the kids will think they can only play with a certain type of toy. If girls want to play with boy toys and boys want to play with girl toys it shouldn't matter. So all the toys shouldn't be grouped girl section and boy section.
I believe that boys and girl toys should stay the way it is beacuse there are some girls who might like boy toys (me) and some boys that like girl toys, and that wouldn't be fear beacause girls have to play with barbies and baby dolls when they want to play with nerf guns etc. and boys might want to play with dolls and have to play with race cards.
I think it is a good idea becase then kids wont feel bad if they want a diffrent gender toy. Also it is also good for kids because they can find what they want quiker. Also it is good cause eople wont always have to have their gender toy. 🙂 🙂 🙂
I think that toys should have they own area. I don't like way some toy store a place girls toys and a place for boy toys. I mostly play with boy toys which is hard if the toys are septrated. Girls and boys toys shouldn't be in they own area. Some boys play with girls toy and some girls play with boys toys. So I think that the the toys would just have they own area.
I believe that the girls and boys toys should just stay the way they r. Who really cares where the girl and boy toys r cause the girls and boys shouldn't have to take a long time to find where the toys r cause they already know where to look. Why do they have to change where the boys and girls toys r put? I think they should just stay where they r for now on. Kids r just going to get confused, so just keep the toys where they r.
I think I like the idea that Harrods choose because some girls may like boy stuff. Comby the from a girl I fell like its kind of sexist that girls cant play with boy toys. Some girl stuff can also be used for boys too. And by the way I LOVE SUPER HEROES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I believe that putting the gender of toys in different sections is reasonable because you won't get confused as much as you would without the toys in different aisles. The kids will have less time choosing a toy and the parent will also be satisfied because getting a toy will be faster.
Its not right.messed up man.nooooot cool.
I think that you should make it easy for boys and girls able to find what they are looking for and not be confused about it or unable to find it. Everyone observes things differently and kids already have in mind what they want to buy at the store and they should know here it is and not have the boys and girls toys mixed. I think it should have it by isle by gender boy and girl
I think that they should have a girls side and a boys side of toys so there wuold not be any confusion, and so If you do any sort of Christmas shopping you will know exacly were to go if you are shopping for a girl or if you are shopping for a boy.If the toys are all mixed up you might not know if a Brat doll is a action figure or if a G.I. joe is a barbie doll so I think there should be to different sides
I think that boys and girls should keep their toys because kids need something to play with when they are at home they would be bored toydepartments toke their toys away.
Myself personaly I don't believe that childrens toys should be split up into different genders because it might give kids the thought that they have to play wiith this certain toy otherwise their weird or something. And if all of the toys are mixed up then it should atleast be into iales or sections like one section for barbies one section for cars and so on. The children will just to have to look at the set up a little differently.
I think that the way they used to set up the toy store was a little unusal the reason why is because there is no need to seperate the toys by the gender of it. The kids need to pick on there own toy no matter the gender. They should be able to pick the one they want any where in the store. Any toy wether there a boy or girl. I think the way they have it now is better than than what they used to have so now the kids can pick freely any where in the store. And its not all so captive to what they have to choose. And the isles arent full of just one specifice thing that they have to choose from. Now that they have changed it up the isles are full of everything they want to pick from.
What I feel about it is that the Harrods toy shop is seperating toys for boys and girls. You should say to them that there just toys. And I was wondering about that do they have toys for babies or not. Some babies can play with big toys like for five year olds or older because my brother plays with my toys like when I was 9 years old.
I think that the toys should be organized by category because if it was separated by boys and girls, the isles would probably be a mess of un-organized toys. (unless they were categorized when they were separated by gender). That would be my opinion.
My opinion is that boys and girls pick what they want to play with.
My opinon is that boys can play with girl toys if they want and girls can play with boy toys if they want to.
I think this would be a good idea because people do always make fun of other kids for playing with toys that were made for the opposite gender. But mabye just mabye this will help. like, when I was in 3rd grade this boy played with barbie dolls and evryone made fun of him and I thought it was sad, so one day I decided I was gonna play with the barbie dolls with him so if people wanted to make fun of him they would have to make fun of me to and... they did make fun of both of us but I was just happy the boy felt better that I was playing with him and he started to not care what other people said but to just care what he thought of himself.
my opinion is that older boys and girls don't really play with toys, but littler kids enjoy playing with kids enjoy playing with toys more that older kids enjoy playing with toys.
I think that toys shouldn’t be separated by gender because, then it’s actually easier to find the toy you want. Also it would mean more space instead of more aisles in store trying to find the toy you want.
I think it is a good idea because girls won't want boys playing with their toys and boys don't like it when girls play with their toys. I think that toddlers and babies will be effected for example my baby sister and my 2 other sisters like playing with both girl and boy toys so if they have only girl toys and they want a boy toy and they don't get it they will get angry. I like playing with some boy toys like the bow and arrow set but it won't get me angry because I am a girl and I don't mind playing with just girl toys.
I think that having a gender-neutral toy department is wonderful! With the gender-neutral arrangement, kids who like a different gender’s toys wouldn’t be sad that they couldn’t play with those toys, and no one would be embarrassed if they walked into the wrong isle accidently. I also think that it would help stop name calling, in a way. If a child/teen is stuck in an isle with their parents or younger siblings and his/her schoolmates come by, they wouldn’t be able to say that that person was browsing in a different gender’s isle, because there would be toys of both genders in that isle.
I think in my opinion that a " Gender Nuetral" toy department is good idea, because now kids will be able find the toys a lot esier. My sister will finally find a toy that she wants. It doesn't even matter at all. it might take a long time to find a girl toys and boy toys seperate.
I think that boys and girls should had their own section because imagine how a girl or even a boy would feel if they were walking down the toy hall and they say Barbie’s and tea sets or skateboards and monster trucks. First, the boy would feel very uncomfortable and the girls would feel uncomfortable to. Girls should feel comfortable walking down the girls toy hall and boys should feel comfortable walking down the boy hall too.
I think that it does not matter because some boy play with girl toys and some girls play with boy toys and if kids dont do that then all they have to do is look in a different place in that store.
Well in my opinion, it really doesn't matter it the girls toys are seperated from the boys toys, or the boys toys are seperated from the girls toys. Children come into the store to browse or buy a toy. Either way, they came in there and looked at the toys. In another point of view, a boy might come in the store and find a girl toy of some sort, or vice versa. IT REALLY ISN'T THAT BIG OF A DEAL! Me personaly, think that ALL the toys should be mixed together as one.
It dont matter it is toys and any body can get toys eather boys or girls can play with toys.
When someone plays with a toy they rate on how fun the toy is without knowing it. Like normaly a girl will play girl toy and like it more than a boys toy. With a boy he will play with a boy toy and like it more than a girl toy. Then ther are some boys and girls that just like the opposite. So I think it relly dosn't matter ether or.
I don't think its very smart that they are making toys for boys and girls. Girls play with toy cars and boys play with barbies. What is the difrence? Noting noting at all.
no i dont think it would effect him because he only has one intrest in toys and altho other stores toys are gender seporaded he still goes around for cars
To me it does not matter, because mostly kids already know what they want. But if the change will happen I would me neutral. Some people think of it this way: When boys toys will be mixed with girls then the boy will have to go in the girls section and all the girls there will giggle, or laugh at you. All in all I think it is better the way it is!
I think that toys would stay because boys and girls needs something to play with and some of it is an opinion and the toys aren’t really ensure to have. Toys aren’t the fun’s to do because family but if family is not available play with the toys.
It wouldn’t matter because little boys and little girls play with each other it’s a waste of time going each aisle just for toys so I think it wouldn’t matter
I dont think puting the toys in seperate sections are a good idea. Most girls like Barbies or baby dolls and most boys like Legos or super heros so when thought about there are reasons why they are seperated into isles. Before seperation people must have noticed that most girls were walking out with girly toys and boys were walking out with boy toys so that is why they are seperated. Even if a girl liked boy toys it would be easier to find what they liked because it of organization.
Well I thing girl and boys should have many different kinds of toys so they could be entertained without boutheing people like babby's so they wont cry and I think they should take all the stuff out that people dont want but different kids wont differnt things like when you where a kid I bet you allways said when their was a chermarical on tv I bet you said mama or dada I want this I want this.Well really you dont need toys people just want to you to but the stuff most people just want it cause it looks cool I bet that is what you said when you where a kid and your parents always said no cause it is a just a waste of money but some kids need it to keep then intertained
i think this is a good idea beacues I dont see any difference betwen poeple i see everyone the same and every one has the right to what they like and what they dont like Not evrey one is the same and for younger childern it will give them a idea that they dont have to play with a certain toy they have there choice to what they what to play with. my brother personly never will play with a girl toy when i was younger i think this will be a good idea for the furture and for the child to play with what ever toy they want to play with.
I really think that it doesnt matter what kind of toys kids get because, kids now like to play with different toys. Some girls really dont like playing with girly toys. Everyone has a choice to choose from like batman, superman, and etc. I wouldnt matter what toy we choose, But if other kids make fun of you is becaues they going through stuff in their life and it dont matter what they say about you. I think that boys and girls toys should stay the way they are because, its just a matter of opinion. Where the toys are it does'nt matter what toy you play with.
I don't like the idea. It would just cause more controversy by putting toys in the same area. There is nothing wrong with labeling a toy "Boy" or "Girl"
I think that it really won't make a difference what gender a toy is meant to be for. Young girls and boys are just too different to share anything- including toys. Toys don't really do anything as to influence a child's sexual orientation or anything like that, and their main purpose is to keep children entertained. Nothing more, nothing less.
No I think the boy and girl toy are fine.
I think they should keep girl and boy toys in stores because it gives little kids thing to do when they are not in school
No should no be any boy toys with girl because you will never find the toy you are looking for like transformers or g.i joe
Kids just go to the toys they want. Boys tend to choose different toys than girls (based of my experience of Christmas shopping, birthdays, etc.).
I think that the "Gender Neutral" toy section is a good idea because it lets boys and girls choose what they can play with.
I know that it wouldn't make too much of a difference to me, because most of the time I know what I want before I go to the toy store (which I usually only go to for gifts for younger friends.) I do think it would be a good idea because if I were a parent of a young child who goes to the toy store, I wouldn't want stores saying that my child's toys were "girl toys" or "boys toys".
I think that it is a good idea that Harrod's department store doesn't label toys into boy or girl sections because then both boys and girls can get anything they want from any section.
I think it's a bad idea to have boys on one section and girls on another section. Maybe a girl wants to buy a soccer ball or some Legos.
I think this is a good idea because it lets kids have a choice to pick any toy they want to pick. I think that toys should be grouped with the stuff, like games with games etc.
I think it's a good idea because each child has his or her own idea to either play with toys for their own gender or play with a different gender's toys. Like I love Legos, and I enjoy having them, and I don't care if the boys play with them. That doesn't mean that I can't! So children should play with what they want. That is why I admire Harrod's department store, because they will let the children choose!
I think that it's a great idea to have toys without labeling it with 'boy toys' or 'girl toys' because a lot of people like lots of different things. If a girl wanted something from the boy section, someone from school or somewhere else could bully her. It's like you're getting bullied for walking or looking down an aisle or section that's for boys and not girls.
I belive kids should get the toy of thier chossing. Some belive that this child picking a toy not marketed for them or only from one gender means their cinfused about the gender identiy. Even some belive that this is a sign of thier sexaulity. I always play with nerf guns and " boy " toys with my friends who are guys. sometimes I had to play with a doll or " girl toy" becsause I was playing with a girl. All kids go thought a stage where they play with other toys. I in pre-k and kinderarden play daddy ? kitchen where i was a daddy pushing around a baby doll. When I was watching a show where they're were testing a boy wanting to play with a doll but the dad was not happy I rember that. I reliaze I was always surrounde by girls...
I think it's a good idea because it may be offensive to those who are boys who like Barbies and girls who like Hotwheels.
I honestly would prefer Hotwheels any day.
I think that a gender-neutral toy store will make a difference in what kids play with if the child is an only child or the first born in the family. I think this because usually little kids look up to their older siblings and they always want to play with them. So the little kids will want to play with the older sibling’s toys to try to act older. I know this because when I was little I always wanted to play along with my older siblings and play with their toys. But if you are an only child or the first born, you get to choose what toys you want to play with. So usually if the child has older siblings they know what they want right when they go into the store, but an only child or the first born will walk into Harrod's and have to look around for what they want. Then they may pick different toys than a usual boy or a usual girl would choose. If a boy chooses a girl toy to play with this may result into being made fun of when they are older and the boy will become upset because no one likes to be made fun of (vise versa). So there could be different sides to this article about Harrod's. I don't know about anyone else but I think it is very interesting that Harrod's is choosing to mix it up a bit! Who doesn't like a change?
I don’t really think that having gender neutral toy departments will make a difference I think that it won’t affect sales very much I just think that it will be easier for the store to organize their products. To me it seems like they’re almost encouraging boys to play with girl toys and vice versa which I don’t think will mater for girls but if when I was younger and was encouraged to play with girl toys I would have been quite offended. So I think it could have a negative impact on their sales to boys but the fact that it will be easier for store to organize may level it out. All in all I think that this won’t affect the stores at all.
Truth be told, I've never met a child who has wanted to play with the other gender's toys, but if I ever do, I hope there will be a gender-neutral toy department to satisfy them.
After reviewing this story, the idea of gender-neuteral marketing seems to be a cogent plan. Many children suffer from peer pressure. Even simple things such as specified marketing can make toy selection harder for kids. It could be embarrassing for a boy to walk into a toy aisle specified for girls. The same scenario also applies for the opposite gender. Whereas with gender-neutral marketing, there is less pressure for children. To ratiocinate on this topic, it is easier for children to make decisions based on what they really want with gender-neutral marketing.
That's a good idea. There shouldn't be any so-called" boys toy" and "girls toy".
