In the Biblical parable, the Good Samaritan helped an injured man whom others had passed by. In the story we cover on Monday, a cross-country athlete stopped to help an injured runner whom others had passed by.
And even though he finished the race afterward, the good samaritan on CNN Student News gave up any chance he had of winning it. But his exceptional example of sacrifice isn't the only example we've seen. And we'd like you to tell us about something you or someone you know did to help someone else.
Could be something small, like skipping a party to help your little brother with his homework. Or it could be something bigger, like giving up a game to help another player. You tell us.

You know, it's rare these days to find someone kind enough to help others at their own sacrafice. I remember way back when I was a new immigrant to this country, older cousin used to drop hanging out with his friends, playing basketball, and skip parties just to help me with my english, and assist me in adapting to new enviorments in the United States. He made it a priority to himself to help me make it through my first year, and I'm very grateful for everything he ever did for me.
when i broke my ankle playing soccer one of the players from the other team brought me a ice pack to help me out
This Summer I went on a trip to Australia with a group called People to People. I had a core group of friends that I stuck with for most of the trip. I had realized that cliques had started to form and there was this one girl who always sat alone. So one day even though I wasn't able to be with my friends I spent the day with her. Turns out she was really nice and we became tight!
Almost every week I do plays, or anything theater related. So once, before rehearsal, the cast when in the back room. There was a girl whom not everyone knew, and no one wanted to talk to her. Some of my friends said she was weird, but I disregarded that and went over and said hi. She was extremely grateful, and now we're really great friends, even at the expense at being scoffed at by my other 'friends'
One nasty, rainy day, I had a soccer game. The fields were slick and everybody was slipping and sliding all over the place. A girl from the other team gave a pass and slipped and fell on her side. Everybody pretended like she wasn't sitting there holding her side and rolling around. I used up every last drop of energy to kick the ball out of bounds and make sure she was all right. She thanked me greatfully and told me she was afraid she was going to be tramped over if I hadn't helped. It really made my day a whole lot brighter. (and I made a new friend!)
When I was on vacation in Orlando, Florida several years ago, I had the choice of going to Disney for the second time that week, or help my cousin in the local soup kitchen. I choose the Soup Kitchen. I'll never forget talking with the people who came in. They were so nice and thankful for my services. It gave me the best feeling in the world, and now I help out at my local Soup Kitchen as often as possible.
I fell out of a car and my dad did not still drive and my mom and sisters rushed to help.
When I was little, I didn't know how to swim. I would always watch my friends have fun in the pool while I would just stand there and watch. And so my dad enrolled me into a YMCA swimming class. My swim instructor taught me how to swim, even though at first I was scared. I am truly grateful for her, because she kept me going, through encouragement and lots of work, and taught me how to swim.

A few months ago, my friend hosted a big birthday party with ice skating, a movie, and In N' Out. But while we were ice skating, she fell on her blade and ended up with a big gash on her knee. She had to get 5 stitches, and we all waited anxiously for her dad to pick her up to take her to the hospital. We did not pay attention to the movie at all; we were so anxious. Finally, at the restaurant, she came with a bandage on her leg, and my friends and I were so glad to see her. We helped her get onto a chair and put our jackets on top of her leg to keep her warm. She got her stitches off last month and we're all happy to know that she's all right.

Personally, I have never done anything to help someone by going out of my way. Although, I have seen others do it though. On the way home from a concert, my dad and I saw a car that was pulled over on the side of the road with the hood open. He pulled over and talked to the man who owned the car. As it turned out, the man had ran out of gas and my dad happened to have a gallon to get him to the gas station.

I think it was a real show of character that the boy stopped and helped the injured runner. He has some real integrity, and he did this not knowing if he would get credit for it he did it just to help out not to be rewarded. It was an act from the heart and I'm sure a real blessing to the injured boy. We all need to be on the lookout for ways to help in our community like the boy did.

My church was giving up books to some kind of orphanage, and was asking to for support. I gave up some of my books, even some of my favorite and the ones that gave me nostalgia, for the orphanage. I thought what you did when you helped the boy instead of simply finishing the race was great; You may not think of it as big, but anything like giving something up for someone is big.

I knew that it would effect me, and that I would probably get bullied again, but I didn't care. Now we're best friends and we stick up for any other kids that get bullied.
Every Saturday a few years ago i couldn't do anything. My church had started another smaller church in Herdon. Suddenly when we were not watching, my smallest cousin who was 2 years old at that time, jumped into the pool without her armbands on and I immediately dove into the pool to rescue her in time. He was practicing over and over, but just couldn't play it well. It really looked important to him, so I decided to give him some help. After ten minutes, he was doing a lot better. I hadn't any time to practice so my own music was quite a fail, but the little boy did quite well and was much applaused. You always feel better when you care about other people instead of worrying only about yourself.

Multiple times I've stopped while either playing basketball or riding my bike to help up a fallen friend. Lots of times it helps because a car could have been coming or the player could have gotten trampeled.
One summer my mom was at a gas station getting something to drink. While she was checking out, there was a man at the next cash register. The cashier was telling him to hurry up as he was digging in is pocket to get change. I guess he didn't have enough money. The man was really embarrased. When my mother was done, she walked over and handed the man the money he needed. The man stared at her in awe. Everyone in the lines were amazed that someone had done something so selfless. My mother just walked out and didn't say a word.
It amazes me that people were surprised that someone had done something nice to someone they didnt know. I think everyone should work a little harder to be caring to people that need help sometime. Now that times are so modern, no one does anything nice.
one time when i was at school I was walking and saw a kid who dropped some of his stuff and couldn't pick it up cause his hands were full and i stopped and picked it up and held it and took it to his class for him
I was at school one day when someone tripped down the stairs and their stuff scattered all over the stairs and down through the hallway. everyone kept walking and just stepped on her stuff to worried about being late to class that they didnt care about this person. i saw what had happened and stopped. only one other person out of probably 100 stopped to help her. she was also new. i helped her get her stuff and ended up being 2 minutes late to class on a test day. alot of her papers had been stepped on and ripped. what was really bad was that this girl had no idea where she was going so i helped her find her class. i thought it was really sad because only 2 of around 100 stopped to help. she could have been to class on time if more people had helped her. now this girl is one of my best friends in the world!
I have done that twice and the first time we didn't do anything about it because we had to go.
that was a good act of kindness. everyone should just look around for awhile and see what you notice there might be someone or something that needs help. but the society is so messed up that no one wants to do that anymore.its sad that there is so many people and animals and no one pays attention to it they walk by and forget about it right as soon they pass by.

Every morning, there is this kindergartner that is last off my bus, and nobody waits for him. So every time I get to his seat, I let him go before me, and then I walk with him into school, and make sure he get's to where he's going, before I go to the other side of the school and go to my friends.

Knowing that I risked my life saving her while cars were driving around us , felt good. I felt bad that no one had the heart to help her.
I would do that because who cares if you dont know them, i would do it to be kind. I have sympathy for people that are hurt. People do that for me when i am hurt. I hate when people are hurt, its a peep pev of mine. I love when people be nice to me all the time.

I was really surprised when Mark hurt his ankle, and Josh gave up his the race and ran, carrying Mark for miles. I really honor good samaritans when they help people on something big. I also think that people should honor and care for each other, and be a good samaritan too.
I've given up many hours of my life to donate time in making money for a cancer charity. (HCCF in Hawaii) My brother is a two-time cancer survivor so I think it's fair that if someone helped my brother, the least I could do is help another person who now needs my help.
It was before a school play. A boy with a main role forgot his line, so I made that line work. Soon it was a totally different play and everyone was having fun and making things up. Everyone loved the play and best of all, I helped some one out in a time of despare which I LIVE FOR
My locker neighbor sometimes forgets to get all of her things, so I would take them with me to our 2nd period. She always thanked me, which felt good.
A Good Samaritan sacrifices. Rather it's a large or small sacrifice. I always make time to help others with homework. It may not seem like it's worth it at first, but afterwar you will be so glad you helped someone out. It's all about helping others and not only yourself.
This happened right before a big show my school was putting on. It started in 20 minutes, and straight away, I noticed a fellow classmate having trouble raising and lowering different backdrops. So I ran over and helped him, myself, for the 20 minutes. After helping him, I realized he didn't have enough strength to lift and lower the back drops, so I helped him for the whole show. I was supposed to play the lead part, but luckly, my understudy showed up. If I hadn't helped him, I think the show wouldn't have done so great.
My granmother lives with me, I help her with anything that she asks me to do.
My mom and I were at a concert and we had two tickets to give to someone. We found a little girl with Down Syndrome and her father. I think that what he did might influence some other kids or people to start helping others when they need help. What he did was some people wouldn't do so that was very thoughtful. I would do the same and I think that's everyone should try to do.

One time when I was much younger I was too sick to go trick-or-treating on Halloween night but my sister went. I stayed at my grandmas house to rest. When my sister came back she had two bags of candy. One for her and one for me. My sister showed a great example of a Good Samaritan that night. She got me the treats that Halloween offered and thought about me and not just herself, going through the trouble of explaining the second treat at each doorstep and how I was sick. Thanks Clare.
This one girl that goes to my school doesn't come from a very wealthy family. Everyone is mean to her because she isn't "stylish" or very smart. I feel really bad for her because I know that she is very nice and funny. One day in elementary school I decided to do little things to make her feel better. Now, I give her compliments all the time and try to start conversations with her. I smile at her and give her a wink when I see her in the hallway at school. I also sit with her when I ride the school bus. She feels a little better about herself now and she knows she will always have someone to rely on. By doing something small, I made this girl relize that she isn't so bad after all.

I think that what that boy did to help! My story is quite the same it was at a gymnastics meet, I saw a great person going on to the tumble track and I saw her slip and fall. She had got her toe caught under a spring board. She had split a vain and crack ed the bone. I saw her sitting there and noone would go and help her! So I ran over to help her in the middle of my proformence, she still to this day thanks me. The funny part was this was the "big one" no redos...

Hi, I live in Minnesota and didn't know that the two runners were from Minnesota until I watched CNN student news on Monday. I think Josh Ripley did a good samaritan type thing to help that injured runner back to the coaches.
One time i was in the store and this little boy in front of me was buying something for his mother for mothers day. I was behind him about to buy some candy when the cashier told him he needed 2 more dollars. Instead of buying the candy I gave the little boy my last 2 dollars to buy his moter the gift. Afterwards, I felt good about my self but i still wanted the candy. As I was walking out the lady that was standing behind me in the line said it was a nice thing that i had done and she handed me 2 dollars and the candy bar i was about to buy.
My dad gave someone the Heimlich Maneuver in McDonald's one time. The man that was choking was eating with a guy that just patted him on the back. I'm really glad my dad knew what to do.

A few years ago, my father and I were in a major car accident. My father was severly injured, and as for me, only a whip lash. If my father did not steer the car away from me, I would have probably died or be permanently disabled like my father. My father was a good samaritan, because he saved my life. If it were not for him, I will probably not be putting this blog.
The reason why i think that giving up a race to help a injured person, that is the right thing to do.

In Minot during the flood, my dad helped a few families in the flood zone get stuff out – even though he could have been doing other frivolous things.
I also run cross country. At the tryouts, we were running and a boy fell. He was bleeding on his elbows and knees pretty badly. Me and a few other kids stopped, asked him if he was okay, and helped him up. Even though I was five minutes behind, I still ran well and made the team. Everybody who stopped and helped was rewarded by making the team. It is good to have people who value kindness, especially my coach.

Not only do You have people who run past and ignore the pain of the other weakened person, then you have people who help them. I think my dad Is a helpful role model to me because him being a fireman heats the whole idea up of being a good samaritan, he is always telling me stories coming home from work about how he saved peoples lives, but yet he has been recognized for it. I'm soo proud of him and what other people do out in this world. (:
During a bicycle race I swerved to avoid someone else but I hit a large rock and my bike landed on top of me. I couldn't push my bike off of myself because my elbows were badly cut and I couldn't get up because my leg, as I learned afterward, was broken. Some people just passed by me, thinking I could get up myself, but a girl older than me stopped to help me up. She then let sit on her bike while she pulled me back to the start line. Though she lost the race, she did receive a special award and I will always remember her.
There is this girl that was in our school's marching band last year. She was the band president and the nicest girl I ever met. She was diagnosed with adrenalcortical carcenoma a few weeks before her prom. The hole band and colorguard got together and made the band banquet her prom. Ever since then, every month we will make her a big card that everybody signs and the colorguard dedicates most of their prefomes to her. Every time I see her she has a smile on her face, it seems as if instead of us helping her go on she is helping all of us. I am a member of the colorguard and I am always looking for new ways to help her and I pray for her every night!

One time me and my dad were driving to a bible study when we saw a car swerve in the middle of the intersection. A old lady was driving and she was T-Boned by a huge diesel truck. My dad and i stopped to see if everyone was okay. When we got to the mangled car. The old lady was moaning. Her head was bleeding from hitting the windshield, the bone in her arm was sticking out, and she couldn't move from her waste down. I sat there talking to her to keep her awake until the paramedics got there. The only thing she said to me was tell my grandkids i love them. I kept assuring her everything would be okay. It made feel good knowing that i helped someone, she suffered from a broken arm, and a slight concussion. I visited her and she said thank you for being by her side when she needed someone.
It was a cold september night. I was finishing up my homework. Then all of a sudden an alarm over my neighborhood went off! There was a tornado. My little sister lily (she was 4 at the time) ran up to me and was crying. I said to her it was going to be all right. My mom and dad were at a party. So me and lily ran downstairs. I called my mom and dad but they did not answer. Lily and I prayed for the tornado to stop. Finally after many of hours it was over. We slept in the basement just to be safe. The next morning there was a lot of damage but everybody was ok! So that day me and my sister helped clean up our neighborhood.
One time i saw a kid on the playground trying to reach the monkey bars but he couldn't so he climbed the slide and jumped to the monkey bars and fell on his face and his nose started bleeding. I quickly ran to him and wiped the blood from his face with my jacket. Then i carried the 5 year old to his mom who was walking a dog at the other side of the park. She thanked me and took tissues from her purse and handed them to her son. Then she took out a $5 bill and handed it to me but i said,
" Helping your son was already a wonderful reward." She thanked me again and walked away. I felt like a Good Samaritan that day!
My 18 year old cousin stopped trying to break a jump roping record to take my dog to the animal hospital when no one else was around
Well, when I was younger, a bully threw me to the ground, and punched me. One of my friends near by were playing soccer, and gave up the game to tell a teacher, and help me to the office.
One day, my friend didn't have any lunch, and I knew that I had $10 with me to buy lunch for myself. So I followed the rule," Treat others as you want to be treated," and bought him some food. I felt really glad about the choice I made.

I'm a chinese. In my country ,there is also a hero named Lei feng who lived in the 50s,20th century .During his short life ,he had helped namerous people who was in trouble or danger. His warmhearted behavior was just like the Good Samaritan described in the Bible. In his dairy ,we can find a spirit called "screw spirit" which means that you will be a great people in mediocre position in case you can work hard in your job and help more people who need help .So ,I hope my foreigner friends can learn more about our chinese Good Samaritan ,Leifeng .

When Hurricane Irene came I found a dog outside during Irene, it was my neighbors and they were in hysterics when I brought him back.
They were very grateful.
I was a good Samaritan when i was in still living in New Jersey, i was at a K-mart with my mom & i noticed a soldier who just recently came home from his station. I told my mom how i feel about any man or women who fights for our country, then she suggested that i went up to him and gave him $20 and a hug. So i did, then i told him thank you and to be safe <3 it was definitely something i will always remember.
When my mom was a kid, my grandma would take troubled kids into her home for maybe a week and by the end my mom said they were really different kids. I don't know if I would sacrifice my time for a kid that I barely knew, but she did, and that is an amazing sacrifice to me. The sacrifice of your time is something you can never get back, so it must be freely given.
I've got a friend who used to be very sick: he suffered from a kidney disease following an accident at the age of 16. He was dependent on a large machine from which he could never be seperated. He had a twin who decided to end his brother's suffering so he volunteered to give him a kidney. Everything is alright now and the boy who used to be in pain is extremely grateful to his brother. This is the most significant sacrifice I've ever witnessed...
My dad and I were driving on the way home and we saw two men on the side of the road stranded. He was the coolest dad ever that day. The two men had been there a while and since my dad is an electrician he could help them, no problem. So we talked to the guys and my dad asked if they needed some help with their car and they said “Yes.” It turns out that their car had a dead battery so my dad got out the plugs that put some of the energy in our car into their car. While the converting was happening my dad and the guys were talking and I was playing my iPod Touch in the car. When the conversion was done the two men handed out some money and my dad said, “I don’t want your money.” We all shook hands and my dad and I drove off and I said, “Dad why did we help those two men”? He answered, “Because it was the right thing to do.
My friend’s mom was running a 5k with me. I got really tired, my side started to hurt; she stopped her race and walked it with me for the remainder of the race. She ran it with me and she got the same time as I did instead of her getting her own time.
My dad was driving down a road when he saw a family that was homeless. My dad didn’t have any money but that day it was a payday for him at his work. After his job ended for the day he was driving back home when he saw them starving so my dad kept a loaf of bread in his car. He stopped on the side of the road and he got out the loaf of bread then he gave the loaf of bread to the homeless people, they said thank you. My dad thought he was very generous to the homeless people. He was really happy that he did that after that time. I thought that it was very generous that he gave the loaf of bread to the homeless people.
Our country needs more people like this young man. Awesome Job!
The best example of a Good Samaritan I know of is my dad. He always takes time out of his day to help others who are less fortunate, no matter how tired he is or how many other things he has to do. One time, he found out an acquaintance in another state was really sick and not able to work. He packed a cooler full of food and gave that and some money for the acquaintance to a friend going to see him. I really respect my dad; he gives so much service to so many people, and never for anything in return.
It was a sunday morning. Our school director proposed us to come and run to get some money for research on a serious disease that can reach anyone at birth. I know that this has been organised since i am in my new school, but i have never ran since it was taking place on a sunday morning, but this year, I decided to go and run 35 kilometers. It took three hours and a half and i haven't been able to walk for three days after that. At the end of the day i felt really happy but very tired.
My mom was sick a few days ago and my little brother was supposed to clean house. i got home at 8:00 p.m. and the house wasn't clean so as soon as i get home i started cleaning. My mom woke up and saw me cleaning but she didn't say anything. The next morning my mother wakes up and says "Thanks Dillan the house looks good!"
I stayed home from school on a free day to take care of my dad after he had surgery. It was worth it because I would have been worried really about my dad if I would have gone to school.
My friend and I once went swimming and she fell and cut open her knee. I was playing around in the pool when i heard her cry and I immediately jumped up to help her ,but because i didn't know what to do i had to pick her up and carry her to the lady at the front desk of the hotel.
i was playing football and we where playing monkey in the middle. my friend was in the middle and he jumped to get the ball. it hit him in the face and he fell on his back and started screaming, i whent over there to help him and he said he did not need m help. but then he said "im fine" and restated are game and i whent in side my house to watch a tv show
I once won a prize playig some game which I cant remember and a kid that had played before me watched me play and win the prize. She ran off crying so I followed her and gave her the prize. She seemed very happy afterward.
When my sister was three years old we got a pool. She did not know how to swimm yet , but she still wanted to jump in. Whenever my parents were not looking she jumped in. I was six and i knew how to swim. I jumped in and yelled at my dad. My dad helped me pull her out. That made me feel really good inside. After we pulled her out we dried her off and she was just fine.
I guess the best "Good samaritan action" i've ever done was when at the fun house when I was with my little brother. He was dreaming of having a ride on the merry-go-round, but the only thing was that it costed 5 tickets and he had only 3. I had 2, but I wanted to buy me a cotton candy. He said that it was fine, that he understood, but I realized he was so disappointed and of course, I gave him mine. So, he could do his merry-go-round, and when he went out, he gave me a great hug and told me "Thank you !". And at that moment, I thought that this great smile was a hundred time better than 2 tickets or even than a cotton candy !!!
Yesterday It was this man walking with crunches at the bottom of my street. It looked like both his legs were messed up so me and my cousin went down there to help him. By the time we got there he was half way so we just helped him the rest of the way. He said Thank You then we left.
When we were in 7th grade during a basketball game that we were losing. We saw another seventh grader that was in need of assistance, Even though our team needed us, he had sprained his so we carried him to the school nurse. He thanked us and after a few weeks he got all healed up.
Well i have a little cousin who is like three and there was only one cookie left in my pantry. I decided to give it to her because she was a little kid
When i was in class i was getting ready to leave i wanted to be the first one out. But one of my friends dropped their pencil box. All their pencils scattered all over the floor. So when we were dismissed I stopped and helped him pick them up and I wasn't the first one out.

In my soccer game i was dribbling and another kid from the other team tried to slide tackle me but he couldnt. When he hit the ground he fell akwardly and he was hurt i knocked the ball out of play and helped him up. I was aplauded by the parents and my coach congratulated me. The reffere did a drop ball afterwards so i didnt lose possesion of the ball.
i missed a birthday party to go see my older brother play basket ball
I was running and trainning in the street with a friend for an essential race when we saw an elderly woman fainting. Unfortunately, nobody helped her, so we ran across the road and gave her some water, then I called the emergency services and they came quickly. Finally, I spent all day long at the hospital and I couldn't participate to the race which began a few hours after.
what that boy did was very kind because he had sacrificed his race
just so he could help that boy.

I had saved for a brand new bycicle and I saw how sad he was for not getting it that I decided to give him the extra $15 dollars he needed and I could see the joy that he had after he new he could get his brand new toy.
I think that its nice to stop and help someone even though that means you are going to the race. I was in gym a kid fell and slid He got bruns all down his legs. Chase and i helped him up and carried him so the wter fountin to get cold water on his legs.

The story of the good sameritan is a little different because the good sameritan didn't lose anything, while the runner lost a race. The runner did the right thing by stoping. But did he trie to stop the bleeding.
One time my friend Leona and I were racing our bikes aginst our neighboor. She and I crashed into each other. Even though she was hurt she walked me back to her house denighing
her pain.
What the racer did was a great, big sacrifice. I am a cross country runner so if i was running a race, and saw an injured runner on the ground then I to would stop running to help him/her. I would be so thankful to another runner if i was injured or hurt, and I couldn't run anymore, and if they helped me I would be so happy, and grateful that I would make sure they got the recognition they deserve.
It was coming near my birthday, and my great grandmother broke ger leg.My grandma usally throws everyone a party but she missed it.So I went up there to see how she was doing.

I helped my mom when she needed me when she was sick.. I felt good because I was helping my mom.. but i also felt bad because she was sick. But she told me she was proud of me, i smiled .
I often go to my basket ball club to help to organize even if i have been hurt for 9months. Of course it is a little act but if everyone do a small thing like that the world would be better.
One of the basketball games that i played, there was one of the other team fell and broke her ankle and one of my team help me to carry her into the hall so the coach can take a good look at her ankle. When we we back to the gym everyone applause. My coach said that was teamwork.

my cousin served 5 years in Iraq
Once I helped someone in a play.
They had forgotten their line, and I saw the humiliation crawling across their face. I had tried out for the play, but didn't get in. I whispered their line, and it went very smoothly after that.
I didn't go to my friends house cause i was helping my dad do work.
A person that I know that took time to help someone is that my uncle was in that army and my grandpa was in that mitary. So that is two people that I know that helped something to do.
One person I know who went out of there way would be my mom. My mom went into the army. She wanted to go in to the army. She worked on the tanks she fixed them up and she got to drive the tanks when she was done working on them. It is awesome that she was in the army.
Knowing my mom had allergies when it comes to cats she still let me have a cat. When her allergies got the worst of her i decided that since she let me have the cat in the first place that I should get rid of it. I took it to my dads and it took off, I was sad but I didn't blame my mom because she never told me to get rid of it instead I decided to myself. I sacrificed my cat to help my mom get better.
Soldiers are doing good Samaritans all of the time by fighting for our country and being brave.
I think that people in the military are some of the best some Samaritans. My uncle is home and he's a marine. I'm glad we have people out there that will fight for our freedom and our way of life.
It happened when I was paying soccer. We were in the last part of practice when the coach kicked the ball and it slammed it into my friends face. The coach told me to carry my friend to the school cause he was unconscious. The coach rewarded me with McDonalds.
My brother didn't go to the skate park so he could help my little brother with home work.

My sister sprang her ankle in soccer so my mom boyfriend went out on the field to carry her to the truck she couldn't walk off the field so she just sat on the field holding her ankle she told him it was throbbing.
I have a cousin that went to war like two times. I am proud of him fighting for us. I was really happy when he came home safely so was his mom my aunt Brenda. He's going back here soon so hopefully comes home safe again.

Later when we got in the car she gave me a piece and sad thank you that was when I put someone first.
when my little sister fell down a hill and she was only 2 and she was bleeding because she hit a rock. so I ran her back to the house.
2 years ago , I was driving on a road , just behind another car. Suddenly , i heard a strong scream and I saw the car in front of me hurting a young man and accelerating away. so I went out of my car and called an ambulance . I staid next to the guy during 20 minutes ,waiting for the ambulance.
I was sad for the poor man but also really happy in my heart of having done such a brave thing .
One day, I went skiing with my family and a group of friends. We had taken a guide who could lead us off piste and we were all enjoying our ride. My father accidentally teared a muscle in his leg in the morning, but he told us it was fine, he wanted to continue. Actually, he told us at the end of our day that his muscle was torn and we realised how much he had suffered during our skiing journey. To me this is the kindest sacrifice he could do, because in spite of his injury he stayed with and he was just happy to see us having all this fun.
One day, last year, i was going up the stairs of the building where i live coming back home after a long day at school. The only thing i wanted was to lay on my bed and listen to music. But, i saw this old lady that lives above us and she was with all these bags that were too heavy for here so i decided to help her and i carried her bags to her apartement.
Even though i wasn't able to go back home directly i was happy of having helped this lady
My "good samaritan" story isn't an incredible one, still I beleive it counts as a good deed.
I was about seven years old and my dad was driving me to my friends birthday party ( we were extremely late ).
My dad was driving on a small countryside road and suddenly, on the right side of the road, I saw a turtle that had fell and was upside-down ( she was on her shell ). I shouted for my father to stop and told him to do a u-turn so that I could save the turtle. He did what I asked him to do, and I took the small, adorable turlte in my arms, put her back down far away from the road and went back to the car.
I did arrive late to the birthday party, but I felt a huge sensation of satisfaction thinking about the sacrifice I had done to save that turtle!
One of my friends lost his little sister last year. She was suffering from a serious illness that was killing her day after day since her birth.
A mass was given in her memory. I went to that mass, skiping spare time and lunch time to pray for her and her family, even though I never saw her.
I wrote my friend a letter to show him my support and let him know that I would'nt let him down.
I also spent several breaks at school with him to talk if he wanted to.
When we were on a school trip where he could'nt go because he had to attend his sister's funeral, we all took some time to write to him on a postcard everywhere we went.
One of my friends had been struggling for a whole year in English. Therefore, instead of taking time out for myself to rest, I decided to spare some time to help him out. It apparently worked out pretty well because he got an excellent mark at
the following test.
Last year, while i was doing my homework, i hear my youger brother crying, so i stopped what i was doing and came in the garden to see what was going on with him. And i saw him, he had breoken his arm by fallijng off his bike, he was screaming really loud and was gettingh panic but i immidiatly told my parents to call an ambulance ! So after that, i felt proud of myself.
I was about 8, in a drama lesson, the teacher hesitated a long time between giving a character to me and between giving it to my friend. I knew that she really wanted to play this character so I told the teacher that I didn't wanted to do it (which was not true, but I knew how much it meant to my friend).
i am a boy scoutand during the last summer camp i attended, my team and i had to walf for a very long time along a straight road in the deep countryside. As a part of the game, we Hadn't been given enough food for eveyone ( What a strange game ! ). My team was all composed by teenagers which were used to that kind of game as i am, except a small boy whiwh was taking part in his fist scout camp. As i saw him suffering from the lack of food, i take pity on him an i offer him my portion. Actually i don't know why i did it, but i did and i hope i helped him feeling a bit better.
One day, I was on the beach, with my two little sisters. It was a wonderful day, I was sleeping on the sand, and my sisters, were playing volley with their friends. Once was very small, and young. He was, 4, I think. He didn't know how to swim, and I had not seen that he was even playing in the sea. My sister, Selma, threw the ball, she wanted him to catch it. But, he was so surprised, that the ball smashed his head. My sisters, and the other kids, were just laughting, and they didn't see that he was disepearing in the water. I woke up at this moment, saw him, and ran. I caugh his hair, and pull. He was safe, but I was worried. What would have happened if I had not get up? Now, when my sisters go on the beach with me, I play with them.
I remember when I used to be greedy, now I help my family out and help people if they need my help like my next door neighbors. I help a lot people and still have more to help to give. I used to help serve people food at a church.
Honsetly , i think anything i might say is going to sound boring . I can't think of one original example that I could give . It's either because my life is so full of kindness and wonderful people , or because on the other hand it's plain boring . I think I like the first option better .
However , I remember that last year , our friends and I were walking in a place pretty crowded , and a guy dropped to the floor . My friend , who was only 14 then , called the closest hospital immediatly , and once she heard them come , she just left . I really started looking up to her then , because she had probably saved a man's life , but took no credit for it .
I think that's what made it so special . Even if what she had done wasn't extraordinary , it was still good for a girl her age , and yet she never boasted about it .
So , I think that we can see acts of kindness everywhere , but the ones that are truly memorable are the ones accomplished by people who are plain nice .
One day, at my summer camp, when i was jogging around with two friends and a counsolor, i suddenly fell on the ground and twisted my ankle. Therefore, one of the girl assisted me and walked me home for one mile. Besides, she missed the lunch for me. I thought it was really kind and beneficient.
one time the person across the street so we helped the put the fire out so then they paid me for putting out
out side of are apartments everybody was out side because of the rain and me and my brother were playing then i turned around and he was not behind me and i went back and he was on the floor bleeding from his head no one helped me i carried my brother into my dad and then he called the ambulance and the doctor gave me a candy for saving my brother
First of all, I would say that most of the greatest acts of kindness are those you can see in your everyday life. However there are some acts which are both kind and memorable ...
Therefore, I would to tell you about one of those:
I was walking down the street in the hazy morning, apparently this day tended to be like any others. Surprisingly, it became one of the most memorable days of my life. Effectively, while going down the stairs which lead to the tube I saw that a man helping a woman who fainted.Actually ,I think that this was the most kind act I've ever seen because if this guy hadn't been there perhaps everyone would have passed by this woman even without noticing her....
Eventually , I'm under the impression that this man was actually
a modern good samaritan.
there was one time when my fellow classmates and I where playing soccer. I was playing defense and someone came up with the ball from the other team. I tied to block the ball but then the classmate passed me and tried to make a goal. The goalie did a great job on not makig the goal. It hit his hands and I went to go and help him but the everyone else went to help and the teacher came over and the teacher took him to the nurse. He broke his arm. when he came back to school two days later everyone signed his cast. In my opinion I think that he liked all the attention.
our world today, is filled with so much hate. a good samaritan like josh here, is wonderful. our world needs many more of good samaritans, not just for all of us, but for world peace.
My cousin plays tennis, and had a train to go to a particularly important tennis competition. But as it was time for my cousin to leave from the house, his brother got badly hurt with a knife as he tried to strip a wire with the knife. Then my cousin cancelled his tournament to be with his brother while he was at hospital.
At my hockey practice we had other coaches watching to see if we could make the better team. We were scrimmaging and I was defense. There was a girl who wasn't the best at playing hockey who was skating with the puck down the ice. I was the only one to stop her before she could shoot on our goalie which was 3 cones. I tripped over the ice purposely so she could have a chance to score. Even though I missed a chance to be on a better team I helped somebody feel better about their self which makes me happy.
I was skiing alone on a black track when I saw a little boy crying above me. I realized that he had fallen and he couldn't catch his right ski. So I got back and caught the ski before helping him to put it on. He was grateful.
During Hurricane Irene one of my dad's Marine's wife passed away. My dad heard from him and thought that he should be there through his hard time. My dad went to comfort him even though the storm was still going on.
my brother gave up going to the movies to give my mom help with the house work
Last year, my dad broke his hip on the frozen street, I had to stay with him and wait for the ambulance, this was very scary, and I was quit panicked, but what I had done was very brave, and I won't forget this day.
Something good I did for others was in middleschool and I was the only one in my math class to pass the test. Instead of bragging about it and rubbing it in everyone's faces, I helped my classmates understand what they did wrong so they can learn from their mistakes and do well on the next test.
every year my church goes to feed my starving children and i normaly go with even tho' i could be playing with my friends. it can also make even you feel good, by doing something nice.
I did a good thing in middle school I behave beacause
Your show
In first grade, near Halloween, we dressed up in our costumes and walked to a Nursing Home near our school. There, we walked around the Home and sang and danced for the people there. You could tell it made their day.
My bus passes the Nursey Home everyday. If there's ever someone sitting outside, I wave. They need someone to do something small but loving. They are probably in a lot of pain and don't have any grandkids that see them often.
My friend was in NYC 3 years ago. She was walking to a store and saw a man with a briefcase talking on the phone. He was walking right in the way of an oncoming bus! She pushed him out of the way and saved his life.
Last year, my BFF had a GS camp to go to. I broke my arm and she missed her camp to stay with me all weekend. I know she'll always be there for me!!!!!!! 😀
I once knew about a soccer player who was badly injured and his forehead was bleeding. He refused to leave his team loosing and the winning point was scored by him... And he kicked the goal with all the pain it took!!
My Dad Works On Carpeting and sometimes i help him and sometimes i bring food and a little bit of money to the poor people where we work at.
The best person in this universe wh had done something for someone is Jesus the son of God. He's the best person because he died on the cross for our sins that's so amazing. Since he died for us we are free of sin and that's the best thing ever.
that was realy nice of him i would do that to any one that is hurt
One time my Brother got injured in a game and i had to give up 1st place to help him and now he is very thankful that i helped him!
The one who was bleeding could have died by bleeding to death so this was a big deal.
I helped someone walk to the bus when their legs were fractured. this was not as big because someones life was on the line.If you think about it many lifes were on the line.If someone triped over him they could end up in his situation.Thankyou who ever helped him,you are a true person.
I was invited to a party one day and I said I would love to go with them but I had promised to help my church re-mulch the playground and I was the only one who had signed up to. I went to church later and my friend comes up with a bunch of other people to help me finish, she was really helpful, and I knew it would have taken me forever without her.
One day i was at my Grandparents house when I was little for a family gathering. We went to the park behind the house i fell and i didn't know her but a girl picked me up and carried me home.......CNN STUDENT NEWS ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My karate class did a new thing our instructor thought of called Black Belt Santa where we deliver presents to people who don't have enough money for them. We hold a fund raiser where people donate money for how many kicks we can do in a minute and parents go and buy presents then we wrap them in class.
On day at the hospital they had an old woman in a wheelchair in the hallway, all the nurses and patient visitors passed on her. Obviously, you could have tell that she was asking for something so I gently held her hand and she said all I wanted was a little love. So I gave the old woman, a complete stranger, a hug like she was my own relative.
One time I did a food drive at my church. We raised over $200, and it made me feel good that we donated all that food and money to charity. It felt good to help. I think that we could make a difference in the owrld if everyone donated even a little bit to a local charity.
One time my parents and I went to a foreign country and so many kind locals went out of their way to help us find our way or to help us understand the signs, maps, or announcements. When people in foreign countries do that kind of thing for you, it really makes you feel special.
My Mother is an RN (Registered Nurse) so she is medically trained. One day we were coming home from camping and we saw a person lying on the side of the road. We stopped to see if he was okay. He wasn't; He had broken his arm in 7 different places, he broke his ankle, and dislocated his hip. The man got hit by a car well riding his motorcycle. He had to be taken to the hospital in a helicopter. He is alright thanks to my Mother. She truly is a Good Samaritan!
I once sacrificed a seat on a trolley in San Fransisco and let an older take my seat. I love Carl Azuz!
One time I found out a store clerk gave me two twenties stuck together and I went back to the store and gave it back to her.
One time I realized a clerk didn't see the pack of drinks under my grocery cart as Put them into my car, so I went back and waited in another long line and paid for it.
Once I saw an older lady with a cart full of groceries. She couldn't bend down far enough to get nearly any of them. So I helped her take them out of the cart and then when they were paid for I helped her put them back into the cart.
One time i was in a race and i was neck and neck with another then the kid fell i was happy but then i picked him up and ran the rest/

My girl scouts baked cookies and sang songs to the elderly on christmas eve!!!
i havent really done a really good samaritan but i would say that its a good deed to do and i think all people should do samaritans but lots of people just walk away from someone who needs help like i will give some change to people who are homeless and living on the streets
When I was young ,I remember that ,one day ,I was suppose to go to an amusment park (in spain) but I was very ill ,so I had to stay alone at home .But a friend of mine told her mum that she didn't want me to stay alone so ,while the others went to the park ,she stayed at home with me and we had a lot of fun !
When we were thinking of a donataion process i thought of helping the animal shelter because they need donations for more cages and toys and food/suplies
Sometimes my dog gets loose. I love my dog and I cry a river when he gets out sometimes. He is the most important thing in the world to me, my pride and joy. One time he ran out and he was alomst hit by a car. I was too shocked and paralyzed to do anything. But much to my luck my friend happened to walk outside and see my dog. He bolted as fast as he could and pushed my dog out of the way. The car was about 12 feet away when my friend got out of the street. I was so happy neither of them got hurt.
This story struck me hard becaus i was in a similar situation. Back when i was in 8th grade, i hated a girl named kortney. we could never agree on anything and we absolutely dispised each other but then one day in gym class we were running the mile for the physical fittness test when i fell and broke my ankle.... my friends asked if i was okay i said yes so they kept going. Kortney stopped and helped me back to the start. after that we became close friends.
i was in school, walking in the hall. I saw this girl with a lot of stuff and suddenly she dropped everything. she was really upset that she dropped everything because she was about to be late for class. she began to worry and cried. I decided to go out of my way and help her pick her stuff up. she was really relieved that i helped her and she thanked me many times. she made it to class in time too.
One time my family was having a family reunion about 5 years ago and so on one of the day we were all together we went to the pool and all of the older kids and adults were over eating lunch but me and my younger cousin stayed in the pool and we would jumo in the deep end and jump on the steps but she slipped and fell in i was the only one there and i couldnt swim but i jumped in and grabbed her.
During one of the most rewardind trips of my life to Marocco 6 years ago, I met a little girl who was about six years old and lived in a house in the countryside, made out of dirt, with no electricity or running water and with a donckey instead of a car. I stayed one night in her house and we became friends (even if we didn't speak the same language). I felt pity for her because she didn't have any toys or dolls to play with, so I gave her a little pink poney that my best friend had given to me for my 3rd birthday. She was extremely touched by my present and I felt so proud that I even forgot that I loved this poney more than any toy on earth, it made me happy to see her happy and this moment was unforgettable !
To be honest just yesterday weI went and helped another little kindergardener to the nurse after falling down on the concrete. When we got him he was very angry from who ever had did something to him.
As we were walking him to the nurse all he did was cry. He also was limping on his right leg. We both asked him if he would allow us to carry him to possibly stop some of the pain in his foot. Sadly he did not allow us to.
When he was at the nurse we found out that had been followed by almost of the smaller children that had saw him.
So to us we think that all of the people that saw what happened and came along to make sure he was okay was really good at being as our school moto is caring, responsible, and respectful. thanks every one out there who helps to make this world better than what it was a day before!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:):):):):):):):):):):):)::):):):):):D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I was walking to get my siblings from school when i saw a kid I was aquantted with getting bullied. I told them to stop and then I calmed her down. We both then became friends and walk down to the school.
My friend made a sacrafice. It was a big choice. It was track and field day. We were all racing and she was in the lead. She was about to cross the finish line when all of the sudden a girl tripped someone and the girl she tripped and sprained her wrist. My friend ran back to that girl. Meanwhile the other girl finished first. The girl that sprained her wrist was me.
There a lot of people in the world who are good samaritans. I would like to the mention the little ones. Like the other day I was to class the bell had rang when someone ran down the hallway bumping into me and knocking my binder and books on he ground my papers flew everywhere. One girl I have never met came and even though we were both late she helped me track down all of my stuff. I never did get a chance to thank her.
When i was in fifth grade and ten years old i put on a fundraiser at my school with close friend of mine. The fundraiser donated money for "Our Companions," which is an organization that takes in stray dogs and cats and trys to find homes for them and nurtures them back to health. We raised over $210.00 dollars to donate to "Our Companions" and a lot of cat food which they needed. Two donated a bunch of toys that went to the Canton/Avon animal pound.I was happy that i did this for the cats and dogs, i just love them soo much.
When I go to visit my grandpa in Peru every year, we deliver food that he grows on his farm to the kids and families who can't afford much.
I raised over $150,000 for children like my sister at St.Jude's Hospital who have cancer. I raised the money by having car-washes, tutoring to younger children, bake sales, and just getting donations from my supportive friends and loving ma and pa. My sister has been doing a lot better now! Thanks for all the prayers. God Bless America, and all the good samaritans out there.
Once my friend helped me up after being brutally attacked my insides were falling but my heart was full of gratitude from that small gesture of kindness!
oday my mom saw a motorcyclist lying on the ground with his motorcycle beside him. She got out of the car and went to see if she could help and called 9-1-1. She found out that a lady that also got out of her car was crossing a road going onto it and accidentally hit him. He was okay, but alot of people got out of their cars to see if they could help.
