Reflections on 9/11
CNN Student News is planning to include your voice in our upcoming September 11th coverage. The question we want you to think about as that infamous date approaches: Why is it important to remember 9/11 on the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks?

I think that we need to remember September 11 because it shows that no matter what happens to us we Americans can over come it. But it also shows that we also are weak but we can come over any challenge that is relevant.
I'm from south Korea and I think it is important because those people that gone has done nothing wrong, so we need to remember because we will never have such kind of terrorist attacks.

I think its important to remeber on 9/11 is when Osama Bin Laden was the blame for the terroist attacks in 2001. When he die i still didnt enjoy that people were celibrating the death of Osama Bin Laden.
I was there to witness the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon, and though I was very young at the time, I still remember it clearly. It was a very scary moment because my dad worked there and we thought he had died in the attack. Luckily, he was not in the building, but standing outside, waiting for me and my mom to pick him up. I really think we should remember this to honor those who were killed in the accident, those who survived, and those who sacrificed themselves to save the Capitol. It really brought the whole world closer together, it was a time where the countries were all friends for a moment.
It is important to remember this because it was a time when we Americans formed a truly unbreakable bond as we came closer together to help all the families that lost one or more of their family members in the attack.
I think we should remember these attacks because I was just a toddler when this happened. Also I'm originally from New York and my parents tried to not let me hear about the attacks. I didn't find out about them until about two years later. My parents told me about the dust covering our yard the next day and the cars at the nearby train station never being driven home by the driver again.
Because on 9/11 it was a big tragic when they had did that in America and it is still now. And alot of people died that was probably special to other people.
it is important to remember what happened on 9/11 because if you get down to thinking about it, many people were killed. We who survived were lucky enough to actually made it through. From past years, when I have watched the specials on 9/11, i have heard so many amazing stories of survival. One of my dad's friends were in the attack of the pentagon, and he remembers it being a terrifying, and horrific, sight. He has saved many people's lives, and he continues to remeber that day clearly.
Right after the 9/11 attacks USA was more united than ever because we had fear. and because we had gotten attacked. 2,976 died that day, leaving america to mourn. We still remember the footage caught on tape played over and over again. When we got attacked, America did not fall apart, we did the opposite the terrorists thought. We should still remember the fallen firefighters and the fallen medics who helped saved many people, But we can't fall apart This Tenth Anniversary should remind us that nothing can tear the USA apart.
I think it's important because we remember our loved ones and we also remember the ones who died for us.
It's truly crucial because many victims were died and some people died during rescuing the others. So, that day, there was a huge tragedy, but there were Americans' amazing mindships to rescue the others, so as a result, Americans' mental quality for helping the others even they have risks have grew, so it was a chance that America became more mature.
It is crucial to us,as american citizens, to remember all those brave men and women who died that horrible day. To carry on into the future, we have to remind ourselves of the past. Good or bad, we can't pretend it never happened. All we can do is be more cautious, and hope for the best. 🙂
I feel it is important to remember September 11th for many reasons. First, it is vital to remember all of the innocent people whose lives were taken. Another reason is for all of the people who helped rescue, recover, and save people on that devastating day in America and the painful days after. Thousands of first responders and volunteers risked their own lives to save the innocent. In addition I feel it is important to remember 9/11 because we currently have soldiers overseas fighting for our freedom. Also it is important to remember because the suffering we went through on that day and we now have a greater appreciation for life and all of the promise it holds.
It is always important to remember tragic events, because if one remembers these events, one can help try to prevent them and honor all of those who suffered. It is normal for one to feel sad about such things, but to remember is to do those who died a great honor.
It is important to remember the 9/11 terrorist attacks because it is something that affected the whole country. People often complain about the wars that we are into but you can remember what started the war. Even as unpopular as it may be there is a reason we are fighting groups like al-Qaida
II don't remember too much about 9/11 because I was so young, but I believe it is important to remember it because was a horrific event in our past. I believe remembering will make us stronger and make us want to show the terrorists, that no matter what they do they will never stop us from moving forward.
Having been so young when the towers feel and the school not showing the news I don’t have much recollection of that terrible day. But after visiting NYC last year and seeing ground zero and the construction I have new connection to the event and realize how great this nation is to be able to overcome such a tragedy.
I was in 3rd grade when 9/11 occured. I don't remember most of it, mainly because my teachers and parents didn't want to worry me. On this upcoming anniversary of 9/11, the men and women who risked and lost their lives to save the workers of the World Trade Center, and the workers of the World Trade Center themselves, need to be remember as they were right in the thick of things when they seemed to be the worst. And after all the turmoil and sadness, we still came out on top. The 9/11 memorial being built in Ground-Zero right now is a perfect testament to the memory of those people as they now have a place to be remembered and honored.
This date is very rememberable since my birthday is the day before 9/11, i remember watching all the faces of horror on the television. When i first heard about 9/11 i couldn't believe how someone would want to do that to so many people, i thank all the people who gave support for everyone who lost family members because of this event.
I believe it's important to remember the 9/11 attacks to recognize why we're fighting a war. We went to fight the terrorist who attacked us. We need to remember that not everyone in the countries the terrorist come from are our enemies and that they shouldn't be put in the same group.
I vaguely remember 9/11, being only 7 at the time, but I know that it is an important day to remember. It is important to remember those who lost their lives and their loved ones. And was also a time where our nation came together to provide support and prayers. The brave firefighters and police officers who risked their lives to save those buried under the rubble are people to think about as well and be grateful for. Though 9/11 was an awful tragedy, it brought this country together and the unity shown after the attack should be an example of how to live our lives and how great our country is.
It is hard to be on American perspective since i am not an american but what i think about 9/11 is that it was a warning to the attitude that U.S. had towards the other nations. I think the 9/11 attack warned the U.S. Government to stop involving in everything, However, i think impressing detest by terror is not the way to solve the problem. Terrorism is wrong in every ways because there is nothing more important and valuable than human's life.
The 9/11 attack should be remembered forever because it is one of the best examples showing how tragic it is that peaple hate each other. This event led US to Iraqi War and Afaghanistan War, and the latter is yet to be ended. I think we must not remember the day to prompt our hatred to those radical Islamic people. Instead, we have to look for a way to understand each other. Hatred and conflicts are already enough!
Now that Usma bin Laden is dead,families who lost a love one in 9/11 can have closesure now that he is dead.Not only that our brave men and women who sacirficed their lives fighting in the war to stop terrorist.
September Eleventh was the biggest and deadliest terrorist attack on United States soil in history. It's extremely humbling to think of how many innocent people were killed that day, and how many brave men and women risked (and sometimes gave) their lives to try and save them. This act of tremendous courage should be remembered, and honored through the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
We feel 9/11 should be remembered on the 10th anniversary because so many lives were lost and families were affected by it. It was such a big tragedy to our nation that it is important to reflect on the emotions that our country felt on that day.
Its important because its apart of how we got to this day. Its devastating, yes but it also shows that we have achieved in getting through it. We as a country have been through a lot but never suffered something so severe as 9/11, you could consider it apart of history because it also destroyed the Twin Towers.

I feel that it is crucial to remember the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack because it is a way to honor the men and women who sacrificed their lives for our country, not to mention the children who were in the daycare located in the building. I feel that it should be remembered. It is a time for people to try and heal. I remember it every day because i was there when it happened and even though I was only 4, i remember all of those inocent people that had to unexpectadly gave their lives. When we remember, we can feel like we can possibly try to piece our-selves back together again.
By remebering 9/11 we have shown that as Amercians we get dealt some low blows, we arent untouchable, but in that time of chaos and need, we became a nation. Standing tall and sturdy even when the buildings were crumbling around us and we became one unstoppable force. 9/11 has become somethign that people will remeber forever, i was barely able to understand what was going on but now looking back i can still see it in my mind, When Osama Bien Laden died, i didnt feel happy, just relieved thats all, anger and hate cant going on, break the cycle
I believe that it is important to remember 9/11 because the event helps the country become stronger as a whole and helps us realize that we can battle through adversity. I also believe we should remember the ones lost in the attacks and should never forget them for their bravery. On the day of 9/11, it affected all of us, and even though I don't remember the day it happened, I feel that I'm apart of it just like everyone else in America was.

I was only seven when it happened and I was across the country, so it didn't have a direct impact on me, but I still feel major sympathy for the victims and the families that were in the attacks. It was the deadliest attack in the United States to this date, and there's no way to forget something like that.
It is important to remember what happened on 9/11 in order to move on as a country. We have gone through many hardships but have always bounced back as strong nations always do. Also, if we don't remember our past, it could happen again.

I believe that it is important to know that an its not impossible for someone to attack America on its own soil. If you had asked someone before 9/11 if it was possible, they probably would have said that it wasn't possible for anyone to threaten America on its own turf. Being humble can help us by preventing another attack, even if it might seem paranoid. With all of the security precautions in place now, I doubt it could happen again the same way.

The familys that have lost a friend or loved one has my full respect. I was only 6 years old in the 2nd grade when 9/11 occured, but the event is part of my childhood history. I have watched many videos of the attack over the years and i have always wanted to know how it would feel if i were to see the plane hit with my own eyes. I give 9/11 families my full respect.
The reason it is important for us to remember the date 9/11. Is for us as people to remember those who gave their lives to protect us from the dangers of the attack. I know we need to remember this date for that sole reason. We need to respect their actions with pride on that very date, and give thanks to their families.

when i was in 6th grade i watched a video on bin laden and i really didn't under stand who he was but now i do and it is sad but yes things bad do happen and it was wrong of bin laden to do that and after hearing the navy seals killed him now i want to become a navy seal that will be a while and i watched navy seals training and i heard "hell week" is a hard to go trough and many seal trainers quit during that i thank who DID NOT QUIT. It is especally important to remember 9/11 this year for three reasons. Reason one, it is the tenth aniversary of the tradgic "suprise attack". Reason two, this year, SEAL team 6 lauched the raid to kill Osama bin Ladin. Reason three, so many people died, and we need to remember and honor them.
I think that the U.S. has come a long way since 9/11. The war on terrorism is not over, but I think you all will agree that we've had some significant things happen. I think it's still an important thing to remember because that was a very important event in world history, and one that affected the WHOLE world. We should remember it because a lot of innocent people died that were just working in one of the towers. And because its ten years which has been a while and a lot of people on the plane died to. They just wanted to get back at us for really nothing.

When I was 4 years old my uncle told me about the 911 terrorist attacks planned by Bin Laden, and how he felt about it. When he saw the twin towers fall he said that it felt like an eternity to when the towers hit the ground.After that, he said that these attacks are a major suffering in all of america, but in the our sufferings they bring us perserverance, hope and eventually stregnth!

9/11 was a very sad day when a plain crashed into a building in New York. A terrorist put a bomb on a plain causing a fire and the plain to crash. This killed many people. 9/11 was a huge day in history and will never be forgotten.

I remember this day very clearly. I was at my grandparents house playing on the flor I looked up and I saw the second plane hit. This is a pasionate subject for me. It was an unprovocked attack. I know many people don't care a lot now but this not over but, we are still in Iraq and Afganistan. I think about all the people who died, soldiers, victims of the towers, the people in the planes, and the familys. The assination of Bin ladin is not the end it is the begging of the end but one thing eveyone should never forget is 9/11.

American government had the sentiment of ANTI-TERRORISM, not people working in the World Trade Center. Something wrong was cause by Bush administration, though, why innocent people had to lose their lives? and how about the feeling of their families? I was in 2nd grade when this tragic event happened, I remember my dad telling all the kids to sit and watch the news about it on TV. He wasn’t sure if the schools were going to close down or not. I think it’s important to have a 10 year anniversary for multiple reasons. First off it’s something that affected individuals, families, and us a country as a whole. Second thing is since that attack there hasn’t been a successful attack against the United States, it also showed how vulnerable we are to attacks on our soil from the lack of immigration enforcement policies. The third thing is, I find kind of not right is that the congress, the legislative, and the executive branch all got invites to the anniversary but the fire-fighters and the police officers that risked their lives and some lost their lives didn’t get an invite, but they didn’t get invited to the tragic event that day they went willingly, to protect and serve our country. It also reminds us that we have fought for every bit of freedom we have, and I’m a proud American and always will be.

When 9/11 happened, I didn't even know about it! Only being 3 years old, you don't really know much. But after 5 years, and people talking about the anniversery of 9/11 every year on the 11th of September, I decided to look it up. I was terrified, horrified, and cried histerically. Seeing all those people risk their lives to jump out of the 80th floor, and the plane crashing and killing all those innocent people made me realize why 9/11 was such an event to be known. I pray for all the beloved friends and family lost by the cold hearted terrorists. And soon hope, that nothing like that will ever happen again.
When 9/11 happend 10 years ago I was only three so I dont really remeber anything, but thorugh school my teacher have been talking about how beautiful the twin towers were but how terrifying that day was!!! My reading teachers husband was actually on a plane back to Arkansas when this happend and as she told us this story she started to cry because she was scared that her husband was on one of the planes that the terrorists were on!!! We promised to find the man responsible for the attack, and almost a decade later we did. However it will not change what happened to the United States, but it sends a message to other countries and that message is DON'T MESS WITH AMERICA! The memorimal being built at ground zero and the 9/11 flag being put back together by Americans is a wonderful way to remember 9/11. However these are big things that not everyone can be involved in. How can everyone be involved with remembering 9/11? By giving respect to the military, veterans, and the Amerian Flag. Everyday people are fighting for your freedom. Sometimes at a large cost. So when you see military personel let them know how much you appreciate them, and everything they do and have done. Another way to remember 9/11 is everday at my school the Pledge of Allegience is said, but only two people in the class actually say the words. TWO! out of about twenty people. Which is not right. Think about all the flag represents, how many people have sc araficed so much just for that flat, and for you. So when its time to say the pledge stand tall and let the whole world know the I AM PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!!!
I think that it is important to remember the attack on 9/11, because it helps remind us of all the amazing people that were heroes that day. To remember what they did for lots of children, saving their parent's, grandparent's and relative's life but, in the end dying for others sake. It shows that we can all work together to perform miracles.
At the time of this disaster, I was not yet alive. But when I was in first grade, my teacher told me all about it. I just couldn't believe that people would do that to our country. My AP told me what had happened...my response was "had to be a terrorist attack." The town where I grew up lost many people in the tower attacks. Very sad day for our country.

Remembering this only shows how weak the US really is to this tragedy. I KNOW people died from this attack but some times its better to let them rest peacfully then to keep reviving the memory EVERY year. It poses as a trophy to the terriost group who attacked us. i think that this is a very perfect idea because of all the memories that the families had and how they lost there family members. I happen to be at the pentagon at the daycare on the day of the 9/11 attacks in d.c. i was glad that the pentagon did a memorial for all of the soldiers and those that lost there lives serving our country. Both of my parents that day where in that build but they both survived that brutal attack.

Dear CNN Student News, We should all remember those who passed as hero's. They all had loved ones and those who thought of them as hero's. I didn't have any loved ones that lived in New York at that time but i do cherish and still remember those who passed in 9/11. When i saw 9/11 the first time on television, my stomach boiled with fear and a little bit of anger too. I thought to myself why did this happen? why the heck did that tourist do such a stupid thing like that? Then i thought to myself and said, i know why they were forced into it, that was there job they had to fulfill. Then looking back at the TV. of those planes that hit the two towers, i realized that the two tourists died themselves.

Well, personally its hard to forget 9/11 because that's my birthday but that's not the reason why I remember it. I remember it because i saw it when i was 5 years old, and for a five year old seeing a plane crash right in to the twin towers which made thousands of good and innocent America's die. It's scary. Know that their are people out there that want to kill you because your proud to be an America. When i got older i learned more and more about what happened on 9/11. I will never forget those people on the planes, who stood up to the terrorists to save other people's lives by giving up theirs. And I believe that the 9/11 Artifacts for the museum idea is brilliant. What i want for my Birthday is for everyone to feel as strongly as I do for 9/11! And I hope that's what this new exhibit will do!

My dad's father whom i never met was a firefighter and he helped in 9/11 he did not die in 9/11 he died of a heart attack and i never met him so i still thank him in my prayers for helping the people who did live!!!!! 🙂

Our class is paying tribute by writing all of the names of the victims on boards and constructing a small replica of the twin towers. Some students were 3 years old at the time and are now able to pay their respects as young adults and share this with others.
I believe we should remember 9/11 because so many people died, and families have had a rough time. No one should have to go through that, and that is really why would should remember the attack of 9/11.
Nine Eleven is so sad I mean why would they do this to us because people died, because of this even the people who tried to get people out. I think we should remember the day that happened because we need to remeber our past and the hard times we have had because even though it might make you sad to think of those we lost you also should think about the fact that it made us stronger as a country. We should think of the people who tried their hardest to save the ones in the buildings and in the planes, think of those who tried and died to help these people it may make you sad but it brought us more together as a country also.
We will never forget what happened on september 11. Looking back I think that we've become a stronger country because we united to help the people who have been affected. We will stay united in all good and bad times.

9/11 is important to remember because the men and women that went in those burning World Trade Centers had undying bravery, and that bravery did not die with them. We need to as a nation band together and not back down. I think you rember these attacks because alot of people died for other people. We should be thankful because it didn't happened to us and Osama Bin Laden was captureed.
i think we should all remember 9 11 because it will help us be aware and it will help us learn that many things may happen to america, good and bad, and we are going to remember them, whether we want to or not.
we can never pretend that 9 11 never happened but we can protect our self from more events like 9 11 this why we all should pray for those fallen heros families and help them out.
9/11 was a terrible attack, lives were lost and people suffered, but through the attack people also joined together, and helped one another during that time. Tens years later lives are much different then they would have been if people did not help each other on that terrible day when the attack struck.
IT is very very important to remember over 3000 people died on that day and pray for all families who have lost loved ones.
I can't really tell you, where I was or how I felt when the towers went down, because I was only 4 years old. In a few days its going to be 10 years since 9/11 and all we can do is remember the innocent people who died that day. The day of September 11th 2001, we all stuck together and helped each other out, no matter what the cost. The terrorists who did this, their plan was to tear our country apart, but we showed them that we are to strong for that and that we will never back down. Remember your loved ones, and always cherish life.
9/11 should not be just a date but a lot more to be remembered. People who perished in this disaster. people fought for it and people who never forget it and gather around annually to show their care to it. American should over come the shade, but shouldn't forget the pass.

The way i reflect on 9/11 is a day of horror. But even though it is 10 years later i find it to still haunt me. I am glad that we have finally killed the wretch that caused this all to happen. still even if he is dead his name still scares me.

9/11 isn't just the day that we were attacked. 9/11 was a day that we as a country came together as one to help each other through the hurt. Us kids don't fully appreciate that their were people who risked their lives to save so many people. The people on the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania and the firefighter and police officers who went to get people put of the twin towers put their own lives aside to save as many people as they could. 9/11 was a horrible thing that happened but every year that goes by we all remember the people who would die for us to be safe. That is why I remember 9/11.

9/11 was very sad and tragic but it symbolizes how strong we are as a country. We all have problems with that day but if it hadn't happened then we wouldn't have all the feeling we do on that day.

I think it is important to remember because of all the stupid little things we get mad about each day this shows that all that doesn't matter all that matters are the people you care about. I think it also matters because lots of peoples lives were lost of that day I think we should honor them. I also didn't like the fact that people were celebrating Bin Ladens death.
I just think that even though most of us here were very young and do not remember what happened that day we still need to listen to our parents, our grandparents, teachers and other adults to give us more information on happened that tragic day and make sure we fully understand what this attack did to us American citizens. We should remember 9/11 not only out of respect for the lives lost, but because is it a day when thousands of lives where affected either by joy in finding out their loved ones had lived, by pain in finding out they didn't, or actually by being in the towers. My family was so scared and we couldn't do anything about this. To me this was quite frihtening because my sister was born just 7 months before 9/11. Thank god that Osama was killed and didn't do another attemp after the 9/11 on the USA.

I think that it is important to celebrate the 10th anniversary because when the people who were affected and were in the building were affected, but not only that, it's because they had done it for America and they hurt their families for a reason and that is to keep America together, even now people are trying to do stuff for their families for the future of the USA. 9/11 was one of the biggest historical events in the world. It impacted the lives of so many people. Although 9/11 created alot of uprising events, it also was an event that transitioned the whole of America. It created brand new security and life-styles. I think that that 9/11 was not only a bad thing in society, but made us realize new things as we come together with people we never thought we would.
This is a time for every one to remember what happened that day and what we were doing. I bet everyone was thinking on that day, if they could go back to before this happened they would do all in there power to change what happened but if i could go back to that day i wouldnt want to change what happened be cause then we wouldnt have this chance to make our country stronger... People, especially the children, should remember the eleventh of September because they no longer realize that such a thing could happen, has happened, and still could. The children never realize that they don't live in a perfect world, that harm could still happened to them, and more than simply a broken bone. There are still people out there who are homeless because of the happenings on 9/11, some even full families. What happened on 9/11 wasn't a dream, and has scarred the world forever.

I think everyone should remember 9/11 because it really united this country. Children today obviously don't remember what happened, because they were'nt alive then. I don't remember it, either, because I turned 2 3-and-a-bit months after the attack. After 9/11, the whole country raised security standards by a whole lot, which may be slightly annoying now that we're used to it (airports scanning your luggage, for instance: it's useful, though!), but we don't realize how important it is for that same reason: we're used to it. Overall, 9/11 should be remembered forever.

September 11, 2001 was the most drastic day the U.S has seen. It was a launching point for all the aggression between the U.S and Afghanistan. The terrorists may have brought done our World Trade Center, but they can't bring down the spirit of the United States. It is important to remember this day and the lives of the people it killed.

This event is important for people to remember for numerous reasons. For example, I think it is important to remember all of the innocent people and troops. Also, we should learn from that attack and be prepared for it if it happens again. Clearly this terrorist attack had a huge impact in America.
