A Tough Call

Football running back Reggie Bush is giving back his Heisman Trophy.  He's been accused of accepting gifts from sports agents (which is against NCAA rules) while he played college football.

We're interested to see where you stand on Bush's decision - and whether you would've given your Heisman back if you were in the same situation.

To be honest I don't think that Bush giving up the Heisman is all that big a deal. The thing is that you can't take away the fact that he still did all those great things. It wasn't steroids it was something else, not specified which to be isn't a big deal in the big picture.

Bush wins either way. He goes undiscovered and wins the Heisman so gets the recognition by that panel as the best player. He gets caught and gives up the trophy but that doesn't take away the fact that the Heisman panel voted him as the best. Bottom line is Bush was the best player and he took some money. (but he was still the best player) Even if Reggie hadn't taken a dime he would still be the Heisman panels 2005 best player for that year.

What Reggie did can't be taken back. Bush won the votes to the 2005 Heisman trophy winner because he was the best player on the field in 2005. If he was able to play that year I could see what you meant but he already played and already won the award. And rightfully so.

The media and the NCAA are telling us to misremember 2005's NCAA season. Not because of steroids but for what he calls a job now. Playing football for money. USC was Reggie Bush's apprenticeship program for the NFL.

I believe Reggie Bush did the right thing and I'd give the trophy back if I violated the rules. It's only the right thing to do.

IF he did do it (even unknowingly) then he should give it up. I would give it up because I would feel bad and couldnt hold it in for long.

No, Bush should not have taken back the trophie because it is his and you can't give something and take it back even if they are doing something against the rules

i think every one is special in a special way. if it at football or some other sport. i think that everyone is the best at something.

I think he should have given it back IF he actually violated the rules. If he didn't and he is doing it to prove the accusers wrong, then I think he shouldn't have. He shouldn't care what other people think.

i wouldn't because it's mine. they can get their own.

i think he did the right thing giving back his Heisman. Giving back the trophy now puts a good name on him. he took responsibility for what he did wrong.

I think he should definetly give in back if he broke the rules.Even if he does or doesn't give it back does not affect how well he plays football.

I think that I would do the same thing that he would do. When you accept somthing against the rules and you know it, you should give it back.

I've always been a fan of Reggie Bush and seeing him give back the Heisman was a little disapointing. But the fact is Reggie Bush is still a great player and they cant take that away from him. Pretty soon, I wont be surprised to see him in the next big thing, The Hall of Fame.

In my opinion you can take away the mans trophy but not his actions taking away a trophy is only taking away a a chunk of matter not his true legasy and achievments

i don't think he should have taken back the trophy because once you give somebody it its theres now so it would be like taking someones trophy when its theres.

I think that Bush should give up the trophy. I know that he had to give it up. I personally think that he should have given it up earlier if he knew that he did something wrong. But I really know that he did the right thing and I would have done the same thing.

    September 15, 2010 at 9:44 pm |
  26. Daniel

What I think is, he did the right decision, giving back means that he admits that he is wrong, which prove that he was achieving the award illegaly, If i was him i would return it back rather than keeping an award that wasn't our hard work.

    September 15, 2010 at 10:04 pm |
  27. Michael

I don't think he should have given that Heisman back. All he did was accept gifts from agents. That in no way, shape, or form affected his skills as a great running back. He still would have won the trophy even if he didn't accept those gifts.

    September 15, 2010 at 10:21 pm |

Reggie Bush would have gotten the trophy; paid or not paid.

    September 15, 2010 at 10:23 pm |

I think he should give it back because it is not worth it to go through all the trouble just to keep a trophy you can earn on your own besides accepting it from sports agents

If I was in that positon of course I would give it back. If I knew that I had "broken the rules" I would be a good person and GIVE BACK the award that I had been given, because I would have had an unfair advantage. And I hate it when people are unfair to me, so why should I be unfair to them?

The Heisman Trophy is one of the most prestigious individual awards in all of sports. It's a shame that this situation ever arose in the first place. That being said, if I were Reggie Bush I would rather hand over the award than have the NCAA officially repeal the decision. While this pretty much shows that Bush admits to the allegations, it bypasses the embarrassment he would have encountered had the NCAA forced him to relinquish the trophy.

  35. Cody

Whether he gives it back or not he still has the fame and recognition. Sure I would give it back, its the right thing to do but he broke the rules. Anyone who wouldn't give it back doesn't deserve the fame that Reggie Bush has. He is a role model and he has to set a good example for all of his fans.

i think bush giving away his trophy is that important because last year he won a super bowl. also it was 5 years ago i would of kept it but i think he did the right thing by giving it back after breaking the rules of the NCAA.

If i was in his shoes i would fight to keep it... he's worked hard his whole life to get where he is now. He has competed against the best teams and he deserves to keep that trophy. Why should anyone care if he accepted a few gifts, it was all in the past. To everyone- the past is the past and look only to the future because it holds what will truly become of us.

I Do think he made a good desigion but ever since this has been going on i have started to not like reggie bush any more. He made a really dumb move so bad he had the highest honor in college football taken away from him.

It would be a smart thing to give any award you got when you know you didn't deserve it. Its honesty and thats what the world needs more of. Lieling will only come back to get you. I would give back any award i got if i know i didn't deserve it.

    September 16, 2010 at 8:44 am |
  44. Sarah

I feel he should keep the trophy because he did nothing that would affect his performance as an athlete. However, the agents who entice the college athletes with gifts should be penalized!

    September 16, 2010 at 9:23 am |
  45. Jeremy

The Heisman Trophy is awarded to a player for what he does on the field. Bush earned the trophy for what he did on the field. He didn't use performance enhancing drugs to make his on field actions better like many other athletes. What he did was make an error in judgement that had nothing to do with his performance.

I think that it would be tough to give the trophy back and i dont think i would give it back, you work to hard to get it.

    September 16, 2010 at 9:52 am |

There is no way I would give it back, winning a heisman trophy is only for the best, I would give back the gifts before I give the trophy back.

  48. Lydia

It is a good thing Bush gave his trophy back. He doesn't deserve it. Think of all of the other candidates in 2005 who were hoping to receive the award AND followed the rules – one of them should have gotten the award instead.

    September 16, 2010 at 10:03 am |
  49. Noah

If it were me, I would give the trophy back. It was the right thing for Bush to do. He didn't deserve it if he was breaking the rules of the league.

    September 16, 2010 at 10:04 am |
  50. Rachel

Even though Bush broke the rules, that doesn't mean that all of the sudden he is a bad player. He earned the award for working hard and becoming the best. However, since he broke the rules, it would be the right thing to give it back. That means that he still has the greatness and the recognition of the awar, not the physical award.

I think that IF he violated the rules then i would agree if he didn't then i don't agree.

    September 16, 2010 at 10:45 am |

What are rules for? To follow them, to not violate them. So, because Bush had violated the rules, I think it was right to give back the trophy. No matter how honorable it is, the rules are rules.

I believe he did it just to look good in front of his fans. They were already looking into the bribes. I would have not even have taken it in the first place. He knew he was going to get caught.

I think that reggie bush is doing the right thing. Yes i have given it back to if i was in the same situation because he knew it was wrong and still did it. He is doing right thing to give it back because of what he did.

giving back the trophy, was the right thing becuase it shows that he understands he did some thing wrong and he dosnt deserve the trophy. And helping students stay away from what he did is great becuase he shows he cares and whats to stop it.

I think it was a bad idea to give it back because he deserved it and he worked hard in college. He was the best offensive player of the year in college.

    September 16, 2010 at 11:25 am |

i think that he shouldn't have given it back because what he did was in college. That's NFL rules;not college rules.

Bush should keep the Heisman because, u never know if he knew the rule about getting gifts from people. If I where him I would keep the Heisman, but it's his disction and I respect that he is givving up the Heisman.I would have keeped Heisman because it is a hard trophy to get.I hope Bush can make a disction before Sunday when the Saints play the 49ers.

I think that Bush Should not give the Heisman back.I sure wouldn't give it back because it's amazing to be awarded that once in a lifetime trophy I would of made an awesome trophy room for it.

I think that Bush should not give the trophy back. Because if i was him I would make an awsome room just foir the Heisman Trophy. Then a whole nother room for all my other trophies. The Heisman Trophy is going to be my lifes goal. I dont know of any other trophy thats more awsome than the Heisman.!!!!!!!!!!

No, i do not think that he did the right thing by giving the trophy back. Yes it was a very considerable thing, but he deserved it. He did make a few mistakes but everyone does. I think he should of kept the trophy. Its a very important time in his life. I dont think that he will miss the trophy but either way he still has his memories!

If I were in that position, I would give it back. It'd be hard, but Reggi knew that he won the trophy unfairly, and if it were me, my conscious would get to me, and I'd have to return it just to get some peace of mind.

    September 16, 2010 at 1:10 pm |
  72. Lupita

I honestly think he did the right thing because he realized that it was wrong. He is now is paying the consequences of not having a Heisman. I would have done the same because I know I did something wrong. I would have stood up for my actions & gladly received the consequences. I might not would have liked it, but it's the feeling of doing the right thing that counts.

    September 16, 2010 at 1:10 pm |

i think it was right of him to give it back. He didn't get it fairly and its not like he cant get another one.

    September 16, 2010 at 1:11 pm |
  74. Kate

To me I think that what he did was right because it saved his total career. It was a very smart move for him because if he did brake the rules that is not right, nor fair for the other players on his team back in college. If it would have been me I would have probably felt horrible or guilty about it if it was true, or I would have just given it back so there wouldn't be any drama.

    September 16, 2010 at 1:11 pm |
  75. Roxy

In my personal opinion I think what he is doing is the right thing because people would think bad about him if he kept it and it would give him allot of bad publicity so I think that he is doing the right thing. If I was him I would give it back if I was in his position I would try that what he is doing is right and it will make him look better to fans and other players and teams for admitting he was wrong in what he did. I believe that people should be happy with what he is doing not dogging him or looking down on him

Really he should give back the his Heisman trophy, but I wouldn't because if I won it I wouldn't give it back fraud or no fraud.

I think Reggie Bush shouldn't have given it back because he earned it and you don't take back something that you earn or that you worked hard for to get!! (:

    September 16, 2010 at 1:13 pm |
  78. Alex

Of course I would have given it back. Although he deserved some sort of award for his playing, giving back the trophy was not only the right thing to do, but it saved his image.

    September 16, 2010 at 1:14 pm |
  79. Allison

I would have done the same thing because if not you could get in more trouble. I think that he is being a good person by giving it back. Even if he didn't accept this trophy from sports agents he is pleasing everyone by doing what they want. Playing by the rules i guess you could say. He's a great player; he knows what he did and that is all that matters.

    September 16, 2010 at 1:14 pm |
  80. Finnegan

He did the work to become the best and showed he was the best during the 2005 season. They shouldn't take the trophy away even though Reggie and his family may have received some extra benefits. After all his work it questioned if he should be awarded. HE WAS THE BEST AND DESERVED THE HEISMAN!!!!!

    September 16, 2010 at 1:15 pm |
  81. Samantha

In my opinion I think it is very honorable for Reggie Bush to give back the Trophy. He is giving himself a good name for taking responsibility for his own actions. It would be a very hard thing to give back my Trophy once I had been given it. But if the circumstances were the same I do believe i would have given it back.

I would definitely give the trophy back because I wouldn't want to deal with the stress of the critics. I would give it away because deep down, I would know I cheated and broke the rules.

I think that Reggie Bush made the right decision by giving the Heisman trophy back because the NCAA Heisman Trust Committee was already investigating his case. They probably would have made him give it back, in time, anyway.

    September 16, 2010 at 2:25 pm |

I believe that Reggie Bush should have kept the Heisman Trophy because the violations didn't have nothing to do with the yards he gain and the touchdown he scored that year.

If any major rules were broken then I would give it back, but he was awarded the trophy for a reason. The reason is, is because he played football very well.

    September 16, 2010 at 2:54 pm |

Reggie shouldn't have had to give it back because the gifts that he got couldn't help him on the field.

I think Reggie Bush did the right thing-he did something wrong and is taking responsibility for his actions. Yes, he did win the trophy for outstanding ability, but he broke a rule. Reggie is now honorable for his playing abilities and now for his honesty, too.

I think it was the right thing to do. He took ownership of what he did wrong. He is a successful NFL player, and that is something he can be proud of.

  104. courtney

I think he did the right thing he broke a rule and it is like when you brake a law you must pay the price and you cannot slip your way out. I think he did it for his rep and his family because no one wants to live with someone they cannot trust it is just a hard thing to do. I think they will give it back though because of his honesty. This is how I feel about the whole deal.

I would have done wat reggie bush did because it was the right decision.

    September 16, 2010 at 4:13 pm |

I think Bush should keep the trophy and the NCAA should change that rule because what if they give you something you've been wanting!!!

    September 16, 2010 at 4:46 pm |

    It's the feeling that counts.

    September 16, 2010 at 4:55 pm |
  108. Joel

If i was in Reggie Bushes situation,I would give back the trophy because if you cheated you don't deserve to have the honor of being called the Heisman Trophy Award winner of the year.

    September 16, 2010 at 5:01 pm |
  109. Darnell

Needless to say Reggie Bush is still one of the best college football players. I don't think that excepting gifts should make him have to give up the award! Even though he did give it up, he still is amazing in our hearts.

    September 16, 2010 at 5:08 pm |
  110. Ava

I would never give the trophy back! It's not a big deal seriously! Oh well I guess it's just a loss for him!!!!!! 😛

    September 16, 2010 at 5:10 pm |
  111. Kaytlin

I don't think it was the best thing but also i think it was sweet for him to do because he probably felt bad.

    September 16, 2010 at 5:14 pm |
  112. Shannon

I would give back the trophy because he broke the rules, and that's not fair to the people who were followed to the rules.

    September 16, 2010 at 5:19 pm |
  113. Martin

I think that Reggie Bush shouldn't given his Trophy back because it wasn't his fault. It was the agent's fault

    September 16, 2010 at 5:26 pm |
  114. Leslie

I think he did make the right decision because it shows that he realizes that what he did was wrong. Him backing down and returning his trophy now will save him and the world of football from major arguments, court trials, and embarrassment. He can still have the pride of earning the title, because he did earn it, even with the trophy gone.

    September 16, 2010 at 5:30 pm |
  115. Caleb

i dont think he should give it back because it is HIS! it would be like giving a homeless person a house and taking it away because he/she broke a window.

he sould not have to give it back for axcepting gifts i wouldnt

    September 16, 2010 at 5:40 pm |
  117. Cole

i dont think he should have to give it back because he was the best player in the nation at that time plus the money doesnt make him a better player

    September 16, 2010 at 5:41 pm |
  118. Kailie

Yes, I would give it back because it wouldnt be fair for someone who did something against the rules to win a big trophy like the Hiesman Trophy. I think the other players would agree that he should give it back because they could have won it not him>

    September 16, 2010 at 5:45 pm |
  119. Alajah

If Reggie was brought up well enough , he should know right from wrong and decide to do what's best.

    September 16, 2010 at 5:54 pm |
  120. Maddie

The situation is bittersweet. I wouldn't give it back if I know i didn't do anything wrong. Obviously, Reggie did something wrong and knew it, so he gave it back. But getting to the point, no I don't think I'd return it.

    September 16, 2010 at 5:57 pm |
  121. Maddie

If he did something wrong then return it. It's the right thing to do...

    September 16, 2010 at 5:58 pm |
  122. Cecelia

I think it was a good thing that he gave the Heisman trophy because he knows he did the wrong thing. If I go it I might not give it back but i would do a lot of thinking because I know its the right thing to do.

    September 16, 2010 at 6:03 pm |
  123. Jeff

I think that Reggie Bush made the right decision to give up his heisman trophy because he knew that he won it unfairly and if NCAA found out that he didn't win it fairly he would be in a bad public situation. I also would have given up the trophy for the same reason

    September 16, 2010 at 6:07 pm |
  124. ryan

i dont think they should take it.I think he shouldn't get the honor's of being the heisman winner but he still did earn it at TCU

    September 16, 2010 at 6:07 pm |

i just think he doesn't get the right's

    September 16, 2010 at 6:11 pm |

This is somewhat right but i would have kept it because if no one knew that he did accept gifts why give it back he could have kept it

    September 16, 2010 at 6:18 pm |
  128. Corbin

I would give it back if I was in the same problem

    September 16, 2010 at 6:21 pm |

I think it is a bad call because people enjoye him and that's why he was voted for i feel he is losing hjs pride and letting his fans down.

  130. Harrison

He violated NCAA rules and gave it back, it takes alot of guts to do that. Especially when your all over the news, Sportcenter, etc. To me he his still the honorable 2005 Heisman Trophy Winner.

    September 16, 2010 at 6:31 pm |
  131. Jason

I think that Bush should give back his heisman. If you break the law, you don't deserve to be rewarded.

    September 16, 2010 at 6:43 pm |
  134. Owen

I think they should take it. Reggie crossed the line of the NCAA rules. Plus, he did not played the sport fair and square, which is unethical. He should be ashamed of because he is known as a Heisman Trophy awarder, and now he should return it. In my point of view, I don't play football, but I know that breaking the rules are very bad in sports.

    September 16, 2010 at 6:47 pm |
  135. Irina

I think it was very loyal and brave of him to give up the tropy when he could have keept it and said nothing. He did the right thing. Peace be with him.

    September 16, 2010 at 6:53 pm |
  136. Leah

Reggie should have thought about giving back the trophy when he recieved it because he knew it was wrong. This is just another publicity stunt.

    September 16, 2010 at 6:54 pm |
  137. Logan

If i were in Reggies spot I would have given the trophy back. After all it would be enough for me to know that I won it. It shows what character he has and he knew what the right thing to do was.

    September 16, 2010 at 6:58 pm |
  138. Ryan

Well, if i was him, I would keep the Heisman Trophy. Even if he has violated NCAA rules, the past is the past, and the future is the future.

  146. connor

I think the whole situation is absurd. Reggie worked hard all four years of college. Who was in charge of eligibility at USC at that time????? I would think the Heisman Committee canditates would have been thoroughly researched before being considered for the trophy. How could such a prestigious committee humiliate not just Reggie, but also the meaning of the Heisman?

    September 16, 2010 at 7:55 pm |
  147. Raini

He worked hard to recieve the Heisman Trophy, but still, he knowingly disregarded official rules that he was supposed to follow, and that is something that should have prevented him from ever getting the trophy back. He recieved an honorable award for his achievements, and now he is a bad example to all of the people that looked up to him for it. No. He should not have gotten the award back.

    September 16, 2010 at 8:15 pm |
  148. Joey

I think that Reggie Bush was right to give back his trophy. If you do something wrong it's always right to fix it. He was wrong to take the gifts from the sport agents but now he is tying to fix his mishaps and do the right thing.

    September 16, 2010 at 8:16 pm |
  149. Abby

Sure. It is the honest thing to do, and it shows that he not only had the skill to win the award, but he also had the sportsmanship. I for sure would have done that, even though I know it woul've been hard to do.

    September 16, 2010 at 8:17 pm |
  150. Benjie

I dont think that its right to just take it away from him because, how can they prove that he accepted money from NFL spectators. If anyone should be punihed it should be the NFL, because of them an icon to young children is getting the biggest award in college football stripped from him.

    September 16, 2010 at 8:33 pm |
  151. cody

i would but i would hate to give it back but i did cheat to get it and if i dident i would have guilt in me

  152. Jon

What would you do in his position?

    September 16, 2010 at 8:52 pm |
  153. Erin

I thnk Reggie Bush did the right thing to give the trophy back, because part of being a good sport is following the rules, which he broke but made up for. It was smart to give it back because if he didn't get his act together, he could ruin his future career and reputation at his school and also lose his scholarship.

    September 16, 2010 at 9:12 pm |
  154. Andrew

Reggie did the right thing by giving back the Heisman.I would do the same thing if I was him.He has a great sense of honesty and I am proud of him.

    September 16, 2010 at 9:35 pm |
  155. Robert

    Dear Carl,
I strongly stand by the belife that Reggie Bush did not have a right, or purpose to claim that very great and honorable trophy. Which should only be given to those who stand with a mighty honor and respect, even so with the clean slip of no shame, giving a show of NFL's long year streak of each player's past, hard work. So I am glad that he gave the trophy back to the judges, and for what he had done by allowing the personal give him undeserved gifts. Not at all allowed for having no actual efforts to deserve the gifts. Which past players have all had to work extremly hard to recive the gifts that Reggie recived with no question to it.

    September 16, 2010 at 9:39 pm |
  156. Ed

I agree with Reggie Bush's decision because if he didn't forfiet the trophy people would be talking about him in a bad way. Since, he did give it up I think he was being a man because he knew he was wrong and took responsibility for it. Great Job Reggie Bush!!

    September 16, 2010 at 9:44 pm |
  157. Beau

I he did the write thing to do, it was honest. It would be selfish if he kept in my opinion.

    September 16, 2010 at 9:45 pm |
  158. david

I think that it was good for Reggie Bush to return the heisman becausethat way if the investigation found him guilty of getting gifts then he might have gotten in trouble

    September 16, 2010 at 9:56 pm |
  159. Ben

Even though I love football and the players that play it, I don't think it is a good thing for a player like Reggie Bush to go accept things that are against the rules. Things like that can get him hurt and into a lot of trouble. I don't want things like that to happen.

    September 16, 2010 at 9:59 pm |
  160. Micah

That's what I would've done. If I didn't, then every time I looked at it [the Trophy] I would feel undeserving, and that would just make me sad.

    September 16, 2010 at 10:01 pm |
  161. Jack

It doesn't matter whether or not he gives up to trophy. Reggie Bush is making more money then most of us could imagine now so being penalized after this amount of time no longer has any effect on him. e

    September 16, 2010 at 10:08 pm |
  162. Clive

I think Reggie Bush did the right thing by giving back the Heisman right away before this thing cumulates. By giving it back now he took away the spotlight that would’ve been on him and the Saints and it makes it so it’s not a big distraction to him and his teammates. Those guys can now just focus on the season and winning. I think that took great unselfishness. The Heisman is the most prestigious award in sports at any level; it wouldn’t be easy for me to give that away. On the other hand him breaking NCAA sanctions wasn’t unselfish and is costing players at USC a postseason game for the next couple of seasons.

    September 16, 2010 at 10:12 pm |
  163. Jack

It doesn't matter whether or not he gives up to trophy. Reggie Bush is making more money then most of us could imagine now so being penalized after this amount of time no longer has any effect on him. In fact now he is getting more good publicity from saying he wants to be some sort of spokesman to help other kids not make the mistakes he did. If the NCAA really wanted to so something about this problem they should focus more on the agents then on the players instead of dragging reggie bbush into this because regardless he was the best playe that year and deserved the trophy.

    September 16, 2010 at 10:20 pm |
  164. Sam

I believe that Reggie Bush should have given back his Heisman trophy because he broke the law and he did not get it fairly. However, it was back in 2005 so I don't see why someone investigated that, but it is good that he is working with the Heisman committee.

    September 16, 2010 at 10:51 pm |
  165. Sam

Giving back the Heisman had nothing to do with the NFL agents paying him. He would have got the Heisman either way.

    September 16, 2010 at 10:53 pm |
  166. Kyle

I would have kept the Heisman. I earned it fair and square, just that i accepted some money and/or items for playing. It's not like it's affecting my performance on the field. I might have apologized to the NCAA for breaking the rules, but I wouldn't give the trophy back.

    September 16, 2010 at 11:08 pm |
  167. Kevin

I believe that he did the right thing, because without role models in this world who have integrity, the world will soon sink into a dark...and deep form. so someone should give him a pat on the back for that! 🙂 he did what was right, and more people should realize that!

    September 16, 2010 at 11:12 pm |
  168. Kevizzle

I believe that he did the right thing, because no matter who you are in this world, you still have to follow certain ethics. and by returning the trophy, Bush proved to be one who honors those ethics. He is a magnificent role model who will definitely be able to guide many people to become better, and also honor those ethics as well.

I wouldn't give the trophy back becuase its not like you can go back a bunch of years to get it back

    September 17, 2010 at 9:30 am |
  180. Matthew

I think it was good thing that Reggie gave the Heisman back. It shows that he wasn't going to fight to keep it. I would have done the same thing but I would never take bribes. Also,I don't like that he never apologized to USC and now they are paying for what he did for 2 years.

    September 17, 2010 at 9:59 am |
  181. Codi

I would have done the samething reggie did.It shows character and that he knows what he did was wrong and that he has enough respect for himself to give it back.

    September 17, 2010 at 10:02 am |
  182. Matthew

The Heisman symbolises all that is great in college football,so if you have to give one back you really did something wrong. I know that out of the 6 heisman winners at USC even O.J. Simpson knew what it was worth. Had I been in this situation I would give it back because it's the right thing

    September 17, 2010 at 10:06 am |

I think that Reggie Bush should give back the Heisman Trophy like he did because thats the right thing to do.I would have never accepted it in the first place. I want to know why he had to give back the other things he got?

    September 17, 2010 at 10:25 am |

Why would Reggie Bush do that It was given to him for a reason, right?

    September 17, 2010 at 10:28 am |
  191. Zoe

I think that he should give back the Heisman trophy because he lied about taking the money and gifts, but it isn't important that they are making a big deal about it all over the news.Reggie messed up his reputation by lying about those things. Reggie, you shouldn't have accepted those gifts.

    September 17, 2010 at 10:28 am |
  192. raykwon

Ithink he should give the Heisman trophy back because he did not do

  193. Dae'Shonna

I think he should give it back because he lied about geting money from other people. But it isn't a big deal. Now he is still playing for NFL.The reason why I think he should give it back because people probably got jealous because reegie recived gifts he shouldn't have
    taken.

    September 17, 2010 at 10:29 am |

Reggie bush is NOT excused you know your not supposed to do THAT in college .I mean its the most important trophy you can ever give back [heismen].Well I woulda gave it back\, and still be ashamed.

  196. mekayon

I think he should give it back to the collage football.I say that becaause if he really like football he wouldnt mess it up for money.
Also, if i was a boy I would keep the sports team because if football was my favorite sport I would keep playing.

I think that Reggie Bush should give his Heisman trophy back, because he doesn't deserved that trophy. The NACC did the right thing. He should be ashamed of his self.

    September 17, 2010 at 10:39 am |
  198. Alonzo

I think he should have give his trophy back, because Reggie Bush is my favorite running back. When he was in college he broke one of the rules. He got money from one of his free agents. He isn't supose to do that only if he was in the NFL.

    September 17, 2010 at 10:40 am |
  199. Jamarrius

I would have gave the award back. If people figured out he kept it he would have lost his reputation. He's my favorite player too so good thing Reggie Bush. I think he did a very good thing by giving the award back to the college. He's still a Hiesman to me.

I think that Reggie made the right choice and really shows his character by giving up the Heisman. I can't say that I could have done that . But it was the right coice.

I Think He Should've Given It Back. I Say That Because If He Really Like's Footballl Why Should He Mess That Up Just For Money. If He Is Playing Football, He Will Make Alot Of Money.

I thing Reggie Bush should give his Heisman trophy back, because he did somthing wrong. He should go to jail. But im glad that he gave it back.

    September 17, 2010 at 10:46 am |
  203. joe

I think Reggie Bush should give the trophy back because if not, it is sending the wrong message to the fans, players and college football. It is respectable of him that he did give the trophy back and now he can get his reputation back for doing a wrong thing in the first place. If you do a wrong thing, you have the chance to ask for forgiveness.

    September 17, 2010 at 10:50 am |

Reggie Bush should still play, and apologize to people who he got all the stuff from.I wouldn`t keep it a sercet, but I would tell the true about it.If he wants to keep playing football he should take this adivce..

I think that he should have never taken those gifts from those agents. Really, I think that he deserved to give the Heisman back. Also, I think that he should apologize to everybody on the team.

    September 17, 2010 at 10:55 am |
  207. Cierra

I think that Reggie Bush should give hishmen trophy back becase he broke the rules. He is also stealing from the college and go to jail for what he did.But I also think that he should go and apologize to the college.

    September 17, 2010 at 10:56 am |
  208. sabri

It would be a decision to give all the stuff back that they gave him, if it was me I would have given it back, because I would rather play football than take money from the wrong people.

    September 17, 2010 at 10:59 am |
  209. Marcus

Well, if he[Reggie Bush] broke the rules, he certainly does not deserve the trophy. The rules are black and white and if he doesn't follow them then he deserves the concequences.

    September 17, 2010 at 11:04 am |
  210. D'asia

Reggie Bush should still play, and apologize to people who he got all the stuff from.I wouldn`t keep it a sercet, but I would tell the true about it.If he wants to keep playing football he should take this adivce..

    September 17, 2010 at 11:07 am |
  211. D'asia

I think Reggie Bush's decision of giving up the Heisman trophy was a great decision. I think that because it takes a real man to realize that he did something wrong. Personally, that is a great decision to me because Mr. Reggie Bush showed great honor nad honesty in his decision. I would have done the same thing.

    September 17, 2010 at 11:09 am |
  212. lakeisha

I think that Reggie Bush should have togive back the trophy. He was the only one recieving the money. If I was him I would I would have finshed and played football. I would not have taken the money .I would have finshed college. But i think that was kind of him that he did gave them the trophy back. I think he got caught and so he apologiging.

    September 17, 2010 at 11:13 am |
  213. Keelan

i think Reggie Bush did the right thing to give Heisman Trophy back. The reason I think this is because it doesn't seem right to the team to have one person with presents .Then everyone will start doing the same to get away with it.

    September 17, 2010 at 11:17 am |
  214. Austin

I think Reggie did the right thing in taking the Heisman back. He should have known not to take the gifts, but it’s not all his fault, his agent is part of the blame. All in all Reggie did the right thing so people shouldn’t harp on him too much.

    September 17, 2010 at 11:33 am |
  215. Robert

I think that Reggie Bush made a smart move giving back the Heisman Trophy because he tried to play footbal and take yhe money. But that wasn't a smart move because it was a dumb move that time.If that was me i wouid have not taken the money.

    September 17, 2010 at 11:33 am |
  216. Guffey

Well, I would NEVER give back MY Heisman trophy! That man earned it fair and square! The Heisman trophy is a symbol of hard work and pure skill. He utilized his own abilities to acquire such an honor, and even a bad rep- over such a worthless rule, no less- isn't worth trading back his life's work.

    September 17, 2010 at 1:05 pm |
  217. Eddy

I Think they should start to focuz on the oil spill more than anything, like raise money for it in some way.

    September 17, 2010 at 2:09 pm |
  218. Jillian

I think he should give it back because he should not have accepted the gifts because taking the gifts was against the NCAA rules and he didn't even need them. His actions are in conflict with the NCAA standards and he wouldn't have received the trophy if they knew he had taken the gifts.

    September 17, 2010 at 2:12 pm |
  219. Kristen

I think that he should keep it because it was the coach's fault for encouraging him to continue receiving the gifts. He earned the trophy for being the best player in college football, not for his morality or for being a super stand-up guy.

    September 17, 2010 at 2:15 pm |
  220. Jhanda

I believe he did the right thing. He knew he did wrong so he gave it back before the end of the trial which is great. He deserved it but he broke the rules so he did the right thing.

    September 17, 2010 at 3:34 pm |
  221. Daniela

I think what he did was the right thing and that he was an honest person who deserves respect, i couldnt have done the same thing because i am not that strong but if i was i would have done the same thing Reggie Bush u rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    September 17, 2010 at 4:41 pm |
  222. Stephen

Ya i think that Reggie Bush should have givven it back even thought he deserves it because wat he did was against NCAA rules. If i was in that position i would have given it back to because like i said it is against rules.

    September 17, 2010 at 5:14 pm |

Hey would've has to anyway, so this way he still has some dignity. I agree. Go Saints!

    September 17, 2010 at 5:20 pm |

If I were him i would keep it.

    September 17, 2010 at 6:10 pm |

Considering they probably would have found the evidence anyways the choice was obvious that he would return it.

    September 17, 2010 at 6:13 pm |
  226. niasha

me personally i think bush shouldnt give it up because he earned it he is a good player along with the other steelers fan he should just take it and put it on his self not everyone gets an oppurtinty like this but i respect his oppion if he feel he couldof did better

    September 17, 2010 at 6:45 pm |
  227. Ben

I don't think he needed to give it back. Taking gifts from sport agents has nothing to do with the Heisman, so they shouldn't have had him 'think' he had to give it back. Getting the Heisman shows that you have skill, and accepting gifts was just a mistake he made. If he could get it back, he should because he deserved it.

    September 17, 2010 at 6:56 pm |

I think he should give it back because it wasnt right for him to take gifts because its not fair for him to get gifts when other people are paying for him to go college.

    September 17, 2010 at 9:19 pm |
  231. Jakob

i think that he should not because he got it before but he still deserves it

I think that MR BUSH should give it BACK

    September 17, 2010 at 10:42 pm |
  233. Ana

I wold give it up. I mean it shows that he respects his college football team. People who do that are people you should admire. He dealt with the consequences of this choice the right way. At my school, this is what they teach to us.

    September 18, 2010 at 12:06 am |
  234. Sara

He lied. And is you lie there are consiquences,So of course he should have givin back the trophy. He doesnt deserve it.

    September 18, 2010 at 12:27 am |
  235. Meghan

In his situation i would have gave it back or i would have not even excepted the gifts. And he did deserve the trophy but he should have not excepted the girfts.

    September 18, 2010 at 9:02 am |

I think I would have given my trophy back because I think it shows honesty and that the person who gave it back has the right values.

I would give back my Heisman trophy if I were in a situation like that because I had been doing something wrong.

i think that he should not keep it because it against rules to accept gifts from agents. He should give it back and he is doing the right thing by giving back.

I would have not done what he did becuase it was stupid and wrong he should have been a big boy and kept the Heisman Trophey because he earned it!!!!!!! he was a fool!!!!

    September 18, 2010 at 6:01 pm |
  242. James

Well, I mean he did the right thing to give it back, its just that when you actually get a heisman trophy it's not just a matter of the trophy itself.
He already got the trophy along with the fame and more; just taking back the trophy won't do anything, why not just leave it to the owner?

    September 18, 2010 at 6:50 pm |
  243. Luke

Are you kidding me! Reggie giving this up is huge, getting this trophy is one of the best things you can get.(besides the Hall of Fame)This is like getting a 100 on a test and giving it back asking you teacher to make it a zero. But yes I still think he made the right choose.

    September 18, 2010 at 7:26 pm |
  244. Alexandra

I think he was very smart to give it up beacause he won it but told the truth that he didnt really need it / deserved it.

    September 18, 2010 at 9:19 pm |
  245. Taleisha

I think it would be a responisible decision and I also think if he feels as if he doesn't deserve the award then it's his decision. ...I think it is all up to him.

    September 18, 2010 at 10:42 pm |
  246. Samantha

I think it would be hard to give up such a cool award like that but he was honest and that is a good thing.

    September 18, 2010 at 11:41 pm |
  247. lucas

I think that it shows alot of heart to give back a award that he cheated on.

    September 19, 2010 at 12:52 pm |
  248. tasha

I think that Reggie Bush should give back the Heisman Trophy because he was not legible to play football. He should not have gotten it in the first place. Yes he got the trophy, but they should have done some research first instead of doing it five years later.

    September 19, 2010 at 1:13 pm |
  249. Maggie

I think that he should give back his Heisman Trophy. He broke the rules and he knew he did. He dose not need the trophy he has a great life, wife and so much more, so he should give it back.

    September 19, 2010 at 4:00 pm |
  250. Anji

He did the right thing. It's just honesty, and it shows that he is a good sport and knows how to be truthful.

I do stand by Reggie's decision I think it was very mature and I stand by it. If I were in his position I would have done the same. So Reggie GOOD JOB!!!!!!

    September 19, 2010 at 5:01 pm |
  254. Jenna

I think he's doing the right thing because he was breaking the rules, its like if an athlete were to take pills that make you stronger during the Olympics.

    September 19, 2010 at 5:58 pm |
  255. Cecelia

I would have felt that it was my duty to give the Heisman back, considering that, if I was to have received the trophy, I received the Heisman for "outstanding" performance, and accepting a trophy while violating NCAA rules and regulations. He should never have accepted the Heisman trophy in the first place

    September 19, 2010 at 6:44 pm |
  256. Liana

I think he can do whatever he wants because he won it.But I would not give it because thats an awesome award and an honor.

    September 19, 2010 at 8:15 pm |
  257. Jake

I think its really easy to say "Yes, I would give it back." But if I were in the situation he was in I think it would be way harder than just giving it back. If I were in his situation honestly I probably would have kept it. Not because I was dishonest, but because it would be hard to get the courage to come clean.

    September 19, 2010 at 9:03 pm |
  258. Taylor

I think he should give it back. If it was me I would give it back because I would feel too guilty. Anyways he is known for how good he was and how he played, giving back the trophy won't effect what he is known for.

    September 19, 2010 at 9:24 pm |

    September 20, 2010 at 10:17 am |
  262. Julia

I think that he should give it back because he stole money and that is just wrong and even though he earned the trophy he shouldn't get to keep it

    September 20, 2010 at 10:22 am |
  263. Zach

I really don’t care about what happen with reggie, but I do understand it is wrong for him to take gifts. I don’t think he should have to give the hismen trophy back. He earned the hismen trophy with his hared work and dedication.

    September 20, 2010 at 10:35 am |
  264. Mr. Mollica's class

We think Reggie gave the Heisman back in order to save his reputation. He probably realized that he would catch a lot of negative publicity if he did not give his award back. Also, he may have been afraid of not getting endorsed by various sponsorships. We decided that we'd also give the award back to save our reputation for the future.

    September 20, 2010 at 11:51 am |
  265. Isabelle

....why is he accepting rules he should have known better than to do that...

    September 20, 2010 at 12:44 pm |
  266. Zoey

Honestly, if the press found out of course I'd give the award back but otherwise, no.

Bush only gave it back because he got called out by the press for accepting gifts, but if his actions went unnoticed then he probably would have kept it and felt not remorse.

Not to be cynical, but when its morals vs. money, money wins every time. That just they way things are now.

    ~ Zoey

reggie bush given up his trophy was not smart of him but if it not really his true property so they can actually take it from him if they think otherwise

I think that he did the right thing and return the trophy. But its his fault that he did stuff that he wasn't supposed to do so I feel no sympathy for him.

    September 20, 2010 at 2:45 pm |
  270. matthew

If reggie is a heisman football player than he should give his award away because heismans are the best football players and the best don't Cheat

Reggie was a beast in college why would he give it up what next he's gonna give up his super bowl ring!

    September 20, 2010 at 4:55 pm |
  272. Caitlyn

I think it was important for Bush to give back the trophy, but it shouldn't have been made a big deal of. The whole ordeal just seems to make Bush seem like a better person, when most people I know would have given it back without a question...

    September 20, 2010 at 5:03 pm |
  273. Conor

Reggie Bush should be allowed to keep his Heisman. Did the money make him run fast and spin and juke and break ankles like a madman. His talent won him that trophy not his bank balance.

    September 20, 2010 at 5:53 pm |
  274. Kaleigh

Im glad he gave it back because he cheated and the guilt got to him and he sould have gave it up the fist place. It was stupid that he kept it.

    September 20, 2010 at 6:44 pm |
  275. Seth

I think it was very professional of him not to argue, but I was very surprised when Vince Young said he didn't think it was right when they took it from Reggie.

  276. Dalton

He was going to give it up anyway. Carl, I love the NCAA.Reggie did not follow the rules his amazing plays will not be shown by the NCAA.

    September 20, 2010 at 7:38 pm |
  277. Caroline

Tons of people think it's a huge mistake but, they are wrong. If they ever get one, they dont have to give it up but, this was his honor to give up.

    September 20, 2010 at 8:53 pm |
  278. Angie :)

Oh big deal. The trophy is just a piece of metal. Whoo hoo. What REALLY counts is the honor and pride he has gained for winning the Heisman Trophy. Even though he has to give it back, that doesn't change that he is a great player! Keep it! Give it! No matter what he does, he still deserved that trophy, and it was given to him for a reason.

    September 20, 2010 at 9:04 pm |
  279. Travis

I believe that Reggie did do the right thing by giving the heisman back, however, he also earned the the heisman by his play on the field and if they did not catch him while he was still in the NCAA then they shouldnt have even carried on the study once he left because he no longer is affiliated with the NCAA.

    September 20, 2010 at 9:08 pm |
  280. Dustin

i think Reggie bush is one of the best. Well he was in 2005 when he got the Heisman. But just because your the best dont mean you can brake the rules. I think he did the right thing giving back his Heisman. He took full responsibility for what he did wrong. And payed the price

    September 21, 2010 at 12:04 am |
  281. matt and kayden

he did it to save his reputation

    September 21, 2010 at 12:01 pm |
  282. Matt and Derek

Our opinion on Reggie giving back the Heisman is that he was smart to give it back. If we had the Heisman we would most likely give it back. If he did not give it back he would be known as selfish. He would have a bad reputation if he didn't give it back.

    September 21, 2010 at 12:10 pm |
  283. Austin

I think Reggie did the right thing. he accepted that what was done was wrong, and instead of keeping it gave it back. He still recognizes that he won the trophy and wears the honor but does not have the trophy to show for it. he played the bigger man and accepted it was wrong.

    September 21, 2010 at 12:34 pm |
  284. Mercedes

Because the Heisman Trophy is given to the best college football player, Bush was judged on his perfomance and skill. It shouldn't matter that he was accused of accepting gifts because that does not make him a better athlete. I would have given the trophy back too because that's what most people believe is the right thing to do.

    September 21, 2010 at 12:42 pm |
  285. amy

I've gained major respect for him. It takes a man to admit, and give up the trophy, that he broke the rules. I think he should get one just for that(:

    September 21, 2010 at 12:43 pm |
  286. Tate

I personaly feel that it has to be Bush's decission. He needs to do what he felt was the best thing for him. On the same hand I do agree with some of the other comments on the fact that that was not the piont behind the trophy. Bush was elected as best player, regardless of whatever else was going on.

    September 21, 2010 at 1:34 pm |
  287. mason

he should give it back because he is already known. it wont effect his career or fame

He earned the Heisman Trophy, and because of that he should've been able to keep it. Yes, I understand he made a mistake but it could've been handled differently.

The recession is, if anything, not over. Many people are still searching for jobs, struggling to make ends meet. Any word otherwise can be considered purely political.

    September 21, 2010 at 3:45 pm |
  291. Dani

I think he made a good choice. He woould of had to give it back any way. So why not save his reputation well he has the chance.

    September 21, 2010 at 4:24 pm |
  292. James

I don’t think we are out of a recession, just because a few prices dropped and the housing market got a little better doesn’t mean a thing. There are still thousands unemployed and major companies are still lying off workers due to expense cuts and alleged cut backs on spending. The recession is affecting schools too, teachers are being laid off and there isn’t enough money for all the books we need.

    September 21, 2010 at 5:09 pm |
  293. Vicki

I think that he should have given it back because sooner or later the NCAA would have taken it. He did the right thing because he went against NCAA rules and isn't eligible to win because he broke the rules.

    September 21, 2010 at 6:46 pm |
  294. Lauren

I think it's rightfully his. He earned it.

I think Reggie Bush did the right thing to give back the trophy, yet, I think he still deserves the Heisman because he was and still is a great football player

    September 21, 2010 at 10:29 pm |
  298. Dacoda

i think this is wrong and right at the same time because he's reciving gifts and he should get the trouphy just because he got gifts dosnt mean he needs to give his trophy back

if it was me i would say you gave it to me so its mine no give backs

    September 21, 2010 at 10:32 pm |

i think he should give it back of because he could get consequances from NCAA.

    September 22, 2010 at 8:19 am |
  300. Austin

I think what Reggie did the right thing by turning himself in. he knew what he did was wrong and instead of lying about the fact that he had taken props that no college athlete should take. It’s against NCAA rules. He did the right thing thought by returning the Heisman.

If he was awarded the trophy why wouldn't he just keep it. It was the other persons fault for awarding it to him in the first place.

    September 22, 2010 at 3:45 pm |
  307. Wesley

I think he should give it away. If I won grand champion in 4h but I cheated I would give it back because it is just not right to take something from someone else. But why would he care he has everything a man wants: a good wife, lots of money and no worries.

    September 22, 2010 at 6:01 pm |

I don't think he should have to give it back since he admitted to it and didn't try to lie about it. Yes, he didn’t say anything until they found out but still takes courage to tell the truth when you have been caught. They should at least consider letting him keep it. Now if he would have lied after they confronted him then there’s no doubt he should have to take it.

i dont think regie bush should not have given the trophie back because he already earned it and thats how it is

    September 23, 2010 at 11:44 am |
  313. Tyler

I think he is doing the right thing, beacuse if i was being accused of the samething I would give back the gifts and all the stuff I got acussed for back to the NCAA.

    September 23, 2010 at 11:48 am |
  314. Elizabethh

I think Reggie Bush earned the Heisman Trophy, and should be able to keep it . Atleast he was being honest !

    September 23, 2010 at 11:49 am |
  315. Anthony

I think that Reggie Bush earned his heisman by his play on the feild not by what U.S.C. did and i think they should punish Pete Caroll more than Reggie Bush.

    September 23, 2010 at 12:56 pm |
  316. Fawwaz

I think he should be able to keep it. He won the award by his play on the field and it had nothing to do with what went on off the field.

    September 23, 2010 at 12:56 pm |
  317. Jeffrey

.I honestly dont think Reggie is going to give back his heisman because I think he earned it. I also think that the NCAA is right about him taking gifts from all agents

    September 23, 2010 at 1:01 pm |
  318. Emily

well i think its a bad idea because many families can not afford the money to ride the bus and then they would have to walk a very long way:(

    September 23, 2010 at 1:40 pm |
  319. Oibaf

Reggie Bush shouldnt have gotten his heisman taken away because even though he went to USC he still proved it on the field.

    September 23, 2010 at 1:57 pm |
  320. Fabio

I think that Bush made the right decision to give his Heisman back. He's admitting that he made a made a mistake, and recognizing that he doesn't deserve it.

    September 23, 2010 at 1:59 pm |
  321. skye

I belive Reggie Bush shouldn't have to be striped of his heisman. The gifts had nothing to do with his playing and talent.

    September 23, 2010 at 2:01 pm |
  322. Bradley

I believe that Reggie Bush should keep his heisman trophy, because even if he did accept the gift it doesn't affect his playing on the field. They should have taken it right after he got it.

    September 23, 2010 at 2:02 pm |
  323. Marie

I think Reggie Bush should give the Heisman Trophy back, mostly because how he got it is considered cheating. If he does keep the trophy what kind of message are we sending young children? We will be telling them that it is okay to cheat. Really if you think about it he can just start over now and actually work, to get in to the hall of fame, without cheating.

    September 23, 2010 at 2:17 pm |
  324. chase

i think it is the right choise even though he did not say how many gifts he ecsepted

    September 23, 2010 at 4:25 pm |
  325. Noa

I believe that Reggie had done the right thing to give it back, because there is one thing that they could never take away, the spirit inside. He has talent for playing and therefor, should keep his spirit high no matter what.

    September 23, 2010 at 8:07 pm |
  326. kira

to be honest i would give back my trophy. i understand why he did. he didn't want anyone to treat him differently over it,and he didn't want to draw any attention. their acting like they don't have any student loans,or something similar. GROW UP!

    September 23, 2010 at 8:40 pm |
  327. Cody

I think Reggie Bush should have had to give it back, but I think If he knew he was cheating in 2005 he shouldnt have kept it that long, he should have turned it in when it was given to him.

    September 23, 2010 at 8:41 pm |
  328. mekaykay

I believe that Reggie's decision was the right one because he knew that broke the rules and knew in his heart that he had to give it back

    September 23, 2010 at 9:04 pm |
  329. DJ

Unlike many of the other comments I read on here, Reggie Bush did a very noble thing by giving of his trophy. He was trying to make up for what he did, and he now realizes what he did wrong. Yet Reggie Bush is still a phenomenom who will endure in football history.

    September 23, 2010 at 9:14 pm |
  330. Meagan

I think it is right for Reggie to give back the Heisman because he didn't really earn it. Also, because it's not fair that he was receiving other gifts and scholarships on top of earning this award.

    September 23, 2010 at 10:10 pm |
  331. naseer

i don't think that it fair that reggie has to give back his trophy because he won it himself fair and square >:(

    September 24, 2010 at 9:57 am |
  332. Antonio

I would have given back the gifts and kept the trophy.

    September 24, 2010 at 10:03 am |
  333. Fiala

I wouldn't have broken the rules in the first place. If I did I wouldn't care what the officals say. Fine kick me off but I would not have given it back. Other than giving back the trophy I think Reggie did nothing wrong.

    September 24, 2010 at 10:04 am |
  334. Miguel

I think he should have to Reggi bush did some thing agianst the rules. To make things worst Reggi bush is not even good. He is the worst player ever. I don't like him or any thing about him. He is a show off. He deserves to lose his heisman title. He broke the rules so now he has to pay the price.(=

    September 24, 2010 at 10:06 am |

    i wouldnt give it back

    good choice reggie
    he broke his leg though
no reggie for my fantasy team anymore 🙁

    September 24, 2010 at 10:13 am |
  337. Ostin

I think that is what he gets that is part of the rules. he took thoses gifts. It says that you can not take those gifs. i now his family needs ist but you can not do that.

    September 24, 2010 at 10:15 am |
  338. Domity

Its a bad thing on what he did but give the guy a break. Lots of teams would pay a fortune for reggie bush to play on there team.

    September 24, 2010 at 10:20 am |
  339. franky

i think it was good that they stripped his hiesman title. he should pay $20000000000 for what he did.he is also breaking the rules so thats good

    September 24, 2010 at 10:33 am |
  340. SyNia

i dont think that he should give it back because someone else made a mistake and now you made him have pride and glory in whats hes doing and our about to strip him of it. if you do, do it dont announce it to the whole world; to embarass him.everything doesnt have to be global. if he's good he should get awarded for that. i dont even like football but i know what wrong and whats right.just leave the man alone

    September 24, 2010 at 11:39 am |
  341. Tyrus

I think reggie should keep the trophy because he earned that trophy for being a very strong willed awesome running back so i think he should keep it.

    September 24, 2010 at 1:22 pm |
  342. Anonymous

I dont think Reggie Bush should be striped of his Hiesman trophy. Its not like he made himself better on drugs or anything he just got a lot of money. I dont think anyone should get the Heisman in his place.

    September 24, 2010 at 1:23 pm |

Who cares if your taking other schools gifts? What really matters is that he played very good.(:

    September 24, 2010 at 1:25 pm |
  345. Ryan

he shouldnt care. hes still a good running back. he has a great career.

    September 24, 2010 at 1:27 pm |
  346. Katie

I personally would give my trophy back. If i got it, but lied and cheated about what i've been doing, i wouldn't feel the same amount of honor of reciving it.

    September 24, 2010 at 1:34 pm |
  347. james

If i was Reggie Bush i wouldn't give back my heisman because gifts have nothing to do with it. If he was good enough to earn it let him have it. Gifts have nothing to do with skill and talent

    September 24, 2010 at 1:40 pm |
  348. Kevin

Why is that such a big deal. Its just a trophy. Why would you need a trophy for.

    September 24, 2010 at 1:45 pm |
  349. Shannyea

No he shouldnt beacuse the gifts from the collage teams didnt help him get that Heisman. he won that himself. those scouts didnt pay people to get him that award. NO he earned it so no he shouldnt.

    September 24, 2010 at 1:46 pm |
  350. endi

What are rules for? To follow them, to not violate them. So, because Bush had violated the rules, I think it was right to give back the trophy. No matter how honorable it is, the rules are rules.

    September 24, 2010 at 1:57 pm |
  351. Ashley

i would not eat it because it has not have enogh tests to see if it was eatable

    September 25, 2010 at 5:34 pm |
  352. McKenna

I think Reggie Bush is doing the right thing and giving back the trophy! I look up to Reggie and this is a great deal of honesty and cooperation, though I do not believe that the gifts have anything to do with how good of a player he really is.

    September 26, 2010 at 7:30 pm |
  353. Elizabeth

In my opinion, I think it was the Christian thing to do in his situation. There are consequences to things you shouldn't do and this was just one of those types of thinga. If I were Reggie Bush, I would have given up the trophy because the guilt and pain would still be there. I would feel much better afterwards knowing I had done the right thing. 🙂

    September 27, 2010 at 5:58 pm |
  354. Max

yes because its whats right to do and it may set examples to many others.

    September 28, 2010 at 12:48 am |
  355. Mike

    Yes, I would.

    September 28, 2010 at 10:54 am |
  356. Ashlynn

I think he should have kept it. So what if he was paid? He won because of his football skills. Yeah taking money was wrong, but that doesn't affect his playing.

    September 28, 2010 at 7:57 pm |
  357. Kaylee

If football was my passion, then yes I would. But since it's not, then I would have said no, and kept it. I think that if he earnd it, then he shouldn't have to give it up. But if he has to if he wants to play, then he should probally do the best for himself, and the team.

    September 29, 2010 at 9:16 am |
  358. riley

i think that if he actually did what ever he did then he would have given it back along time ago but i think he just gave it back becaue he was probablly tireed of everyone bugging him about what he did or didnt do.

    September 29, 2010 at 1:55 pm |
  359. Eri-Ray

I wouldn't have kept it. If I won the Hiesman trophy, I would have done it with honour and pride.

    September 30, 2010 at 8:19 pm |
  360. TJ

As a football player myself i would try to keep myself out of situations like that because he made certain choices in his college career for him to have to give it up so as my parents say "every choice comes with a consequence whether good or bad"

    September 30, 2010 at 9:43 pm |
  361. lauren

I think what he did was so good. It must of took alot of nerve to give up something that he worked so hard for.

    October 1, 2010 at 5:35 pm |
  362. Bradley

I just wouldn't give it back. They need to appreciate the fact that hey, you got scammed, and learn a lesson from it so it doesnt happen again. I applaud him for being able to pull this off!

    October 1, 2010 at 5:54 pm |
  363. Isha

i think he did the right thing in giving back his Heisman Trophy. I mean, if you think about it, he only gave it back, probably because he knew he was wrong. So, that means he knew that he was wrong, and took action without being told to do so.

    October 5, 2010 at 5:19 pm |
  364. Tim

I think that them taking back his trophy is ridiculous. They didn't make O.J. Simpson give back his.

    October 5, 2010 at 7:31 pm |
  365. Cesar

I think he did ok by giving it back even though he did take a little to long to return it..

    October 6, 2010 at 1:47 pm |
  366. Tessa

As hard as the decision is, I would have given back the trophy also. In giving back the trophy, it lets the public know you respect them and the game enough to have decency.

    October 6, 2010 at 1:50 pm |
  367. chad

he should not give it back, gifts do not earn trophies, only hard work and perseverence do so.

    October 6, 2010 at 1:51 pm |
  368. Daniel

I think he did the right thing, but if he didnt give it back they would have taken it back.

  369. alicia

of course they would trty to acuss him of stuff hes a big star. People are going to try to blame him for a lot of stuff its there job but i dont think he did exept the gifts i think he would follow the rules

    October 6, 2010 at 4:02 pm |
  370. M.J.

I do not think that they shoud've made him give his Heisman!!!!!!!!Reggie Bush worked hard to get it, he would never just take it!!!!!!!!!!! It is kinda wrong to make him give that kind of award back.

i wouldent give it back because i played my butt off for that torphy and i think i deserve it.but if i did break the rules i should but i wouldent want to.

  372. dustin

i wought gave it back becouse i wougth't ceep it.i wougth s give to hem i don't wonet.

    October 7, 2010 at 11:11 am |
  373. taco

Colleges do that a lot, they illegelly give good football players super cool stuff to play for there team. they probably did bribe reggy bush to play for them so he doesnt deserve that trophy.

    October 7, 2010 at 11:31 am |
  374. erik

they would try blame him of stuff cause hes a big star. and i don't think he should give his Heisman because he wored hard for it.

    October 7, 2010 at 1:03 pm |
  375. Yves

i think that he shouldnt have given it back because even though its against the rules it wasnt like he was getting a perfomance enhancer so if he didnt get those things he would be the same but i do applaude him for not fighting about it and just doing what he needs to do and giving it back

    October 7, 2010 at 1:03 pm |
  376. brendan

I think that he is doing the right thing because he gave it all back without arguing because he knew he broke the rules

    October 7, 2010 at 1:07 pm |
  377. mahdiah

I think reggie bush didn't ask the angent for money and won that award that kinda wroung what they doin too him i guess he need some money that it

    October 7, 2010 at 1:08 pm |
  378. erik

the reason i think he should't give it back is because he didnt brake the rules and his a responsible guy cause if he worked for the trophy he can't be unresponsible.

    October 7, 2010 at 1:09 pm |
  379. David

I think that bush should keep it he a good player at football I won the superbowl for the saints.

its not right to do that to him he try his hardest.
the saint need reggie bush i hope that he never go to another team

i think that reggie should not give back the heisman because he worked his butt of for it.

    October 7, 2010 at 5:18 pm |
  382. Ke$ha

I think that Bush should keep it. He worked the best he could to get it. And his whole life he worked just to get to this stage. So he earned it so if you do take it awy thats sad, just becaause of one thing. I know you would be mad if someone too something away that you worked your life for.

    October 8, 2010 at 10:05 am |

I think that reggie bush should keep the heisman. He worked hard for it and he deserves to keep it.

That is the rules you can't take that stuff. He did not follow the rules so that is what he gets

I think he should of been able to keep it because all he did was get money. Its not like he took HGH.

    October 8, 2010 at 1:35 pm |

well if it is against the rules than we can not argue with the rules

    October 9, 2010 at 6:43 pm |

the money doesnt effect his playing it has nothing to do with how well he played i am sure he wouldve played the same with out the money

    October 9, 2010 at 8:01 pm |
  389. Joline

I think it's very honorable of him to do so. Bush, I applaud you.

    October 12, 2010 at 2:04 pm |
  390. Tamai

If i was him no i wouldnt give it back i mean i earned it and to give it back is not fair and accepting gifts part if your accepting gifts from fans you cant just give it back and say no I cant have it and they spent there money on you they will be sad 🙁
