Everyone who works for Whole Foods gets 20 percent off his or her groceries, but people who want to participate in a new discount plan can save even more - if they qualify. On Thursday, you hear the details about it and the extra benefits it gives to employees who are in extra-good shape.
Some folks say the extra discount is encouraging; some say it discriminates. What do you say?
Carl Azuz, Anchor
I think it is encouraging, but Whole Foods should keep in mind that everyone's body is different and it's easier for some people to stay in good shape than others. Maybe instead of focusing on weight, Whole Foods can focus on the amount of physical activity an employee does every day, and how nutritious their diet is. This way, Whole Foods can focus on being healthy, rather than 'skinny'.
I think in general, the idea is good as it encourages people to stay healthy, however I also believe it is unfair to employees who naturally weigh more, not necessarily due to bad health. Overall, I believe the plan is discriminatory and should not be implemented.
I think its great. People'll try to get healthier and they can save some money too.
I think it despises to people who are overweight. Sometimes, these people can't help it, but, there are those that can.
I think that it is good for healthier food to cost less. The reason everyone will eat junk food is because it is cheap. If we just keep the price of whole-wheat food down, America might not be the fattest country in the world.
I think it is good to give people certain benefits but it is not fair if some people get benifits and some people don't. This is especially not fair if it means they don't give benifits to people who are not in shape.
I think that extra discount is encouraging because if people want to qualify and get more money and use less money, I think it is their choice! I have no say in what they want to do, but people who are in extra good shape, i think it should be official that they get extra benefits!!!!!!!!
I think that everyone should get a discount so they actually have a chance to lose weight because whole foods is known to have very healthy food.
I think this is a good idea becuase people should be fit, and they should get to pay even less becuase they are tryi ng to achiive something.
I think it can discriminate certain people. I definintally feel it is unfair to the people who don't qualify.
I say that it is encouraging and it is a good way for people who are not in shape to have a chance to be in shape. I think that the 20 percent off of her or him groceries is a good way for people to also stay healthy too.
I think this is a good idea beause people will staty fit if they are getting something in return.
I think its encouraging because people that work there don't have to worry about the whole foods they buy because they can just do that plan and get what they need for a good price.
i say it is a good idea because it helps people who are overweight, mounourished, or unhealthy. it also saves people money.
I do not think that the "weigh less pay less" policy is a good idea I think that it is unfair
I think its a good idea that people are getting a discount for their groceries but i don't think it's fair to those who don't qualify. If they need that discount becaues they don't have a job, it could be a big help to them. I think you should also make another exception. People that don't have a job or having a hard time with issues related to that, they should get that discount too.
I think extra discount is encouraging because some people need that discount. Some dont earn much money to buy food and needs for their family.
I think the extea discount is encouraring because that way the people will come there more, and new customers will come to the store and they'll make more profit.
Quite honestly, I don't see how it's discriminating. As long as someone doesn't need to go to the gym for hours a day to get the bonuses, it should help. But a better idea would have been to reduce prices on healthy foods and increase it on 'junk'. No one could say it's discriminating and everyone will be healthier!
i think thats not fair to ppl because it is sigleing them out and its not fair
There is nothing wrong with this! To encourage people to lose weight, which is healthy, and offering a discount is a great weigh (pun) to help our economy, and will hopefully be a national trend.
i think that there should be a discount for that kind of food
..... well i think that everyone should get a discount because it wouldn't be fair just for whole foods employees to get this discount.....
i honestly don't really care, when you have a job sometimes you benefit in more ways than one, so if workers qualify for a discount then that is fine. I don't see why it matters to others. If u read newspaper adds you can get a discount on foods, that is if you read the food paper adds. So who cares.
I think that this is a very discriminating thing because some people have blood pressure problems and others have isssues with their matabalizm. I just think that it is very wrong to give a person who weighs less a bigger dicount it's like saying im taller so i get to go first
i think that weigh less pay less is a way to "bribe" people to get fit and healthy but if they don't want to they don't have to. but they also probubly want the deal badly because i know i would.
i think its a good idea because it will get people to eat heathier and work harder to lose weight.
i feel that it is a good thing. Because people that qualify get benifets because they kind of earned the right, while chubbyer smokers and might be poor and they would have more modivation to be skinny.
I like this discount because it will keep people healthy. & it will help you lose weight. But for some poeple it will be harder. They will jusy have to work harder.
It could get people to try harder to loss more weight and smoke less, but some people can't exactly control their weight so it can be either way.
I think that there are some Disadvantages and Advantages. A disadvantages is that alot of people are offended by this action, and I can see why. A advantages is that it will hopefully get people to stop smoking. Also it will hopefully help people to loose weight and use it as a motivation
I think that it's totally fine that Whole Foods give discounts for healthy living.
It is total Discrimination. Everyone should be treated fair!
I think it is wrong, because, only the people who work for Whole Foods get 20% off all food items.
I think it is not okay for people to get a discount for whole food because it is not fair for people who don't buy whole food. But then it is also fair because the more cheaper things are, the more we can get. And if we get more whole food, it will be better.
This is a great consept. Not only to help people save money but to help get america fit agian.
I think that with the wiegh less, pay less rule, Whole foods is encouraging its employees to eat healthy and stay fit by offering bonus discounts to healthy employees.
I think it is unessacary to give healthy people a discount at whole foods, because healthy or not, people should all pay the same price for foods.
I think it is a good thing to do because customers come in and ask unhealthy employees which food is healthier. If the unhealthy employee doesn't know the answer then the customer might not come back. That loses money!! OH NO!!!
I believe that this suggestion is good. I believe that because they want people to stay healthy, and by that bargain, it is easier to see that. That will try to convince people who are obese to stay healthy.
I say they should do the extra healthy thing because it encourages the workers to stay in great shape... They'd probably be more effective if they were in good shape anyway.
I think it is fair that people that eat healthey can pay less because if there eating healthy why wouldn't they be able to pay less
I think it is unnessacary to give people a discount if they eat healthy, because you should eat healthy anyway.
I think it is fair because it is improving the way people will eat.
I do think it's fair because people should always be healthy.
I say it's encouraging because people need to stay healthy, and I mean everybody.
yes because I think that people should be healthy
I think it is okay and actually good that people who are healthy should get a discount on food because then the obece people or large people will learn to be healthy and not fat. They will learn to eat friut instead of chesse balls. But if their is a obeace person triying to stay healthy and working harn ecsersizing and eating healthy then they shoul also get credit by trying to be healthy even though they might still be large.
I think it's fine that Whole Foods gives a 20% employ discount for a heathly lifestyle. It prmotes heathly living.
i think it is fine a maybe america wont be known as over weight
i think it is fair that peope should really waigh less. it help themselves and helps people have less diseeses. that is great they are doing that.
I think that the weigh less pay less is going to be a great idea. It will help motivate people to get healthy, but the one problem is the fact that only the people who work to the Whole foods get the discount, I think everyone should.
I think this a good idea because it encourages people to lose weight which is a big issue in America. 20% off groceries is a good bribe to get people to do what is right which includes no smoking, and having a low BMI
The company can make whatever policy they choose. America has an obesity problem, and they are just trying to help the situation.
I believe this plan is a good idea, it awards people who are already fit and encourages people, who are not, to get fit.
I think it is a good idea. There is a large obesity rate in AMerica. However, I think the discount should be given to people how try to be healthier. If someone who already meets the standards sings up, they get it right away. If someone signs up who doesn't meet the standard, they have to work more for it. But I don't think Whole Foods will change it, so I say leave it be.
They shouldn't do that because it is just like being racist. Why should the people who don't eat as much or burn fat more easily or exercise every week get a discount? People can't help if they are a little chubby.
i think its a good idea thank you for listening to me
It's superb, and really encourages people to get off their behinds and do something.
i think its fair cause people need to be healthy anyways
i think that it is fair because if you work hard enough to lose weight and succeed, then you should be rewarded. But i do understand why some people think its unfair, its because sometimes you are overweight and its not your fault.
I think they should not do this, because it's racist. People are who they are and people are going to except that. Everyone is different. No one said that everyone in the world has to be skinny. People can't help it if they are a little chubby.
What the heck are they thinking, I don't know well this is bogus! This discrimination is wrong, we the people shall act!
i think that everyone should have a discount because they need to be healthy and besides, those that didn't make the requirements because they may have smoked in the past, they should be able to have their choices if they want to, and thats that
I think its very important to find a way to promote good health, however this plan does discriminate and should not be put into place.
I believe that that is not the best idea, if they are going to lower taxes on one thing, why not lower taxes on everything. Which would help citizens gain their money faster, which is what we did a few years ago.
I think that it's both encouraging and discriminating. It encourages people to lose weight and be healthy so they can get the discount, but on the other hand some people can't lose weight for health reasons or they physically can't. It's not fair for those people not to get the bonus because of their weight, it's personal business, it's not other peoples!
i thinks that its discrimiates people. just because thier not in good shape doesn't mean their not a great person.
I think that people should stop complaining. They need to relax. The company has the right to do this and this gives a good incentive for the workers to get in shape.
This is a good idea. It is optional, and it encourages people to be more healthy. However I think this should stay optional.
As if overweight people don't face enough discrimination already from the media, their peers, and other sources, this store decides to surreptitiously tell them thin is better by giving discounts to more fit employees. There intent, to save money on health care costs, is corrupt as well. Most of the money will go right to the top executives, no doubt lounging in cushy chairs in their designer suits gaining weight as they tell their underlings to lose it.
I think it's total discrimination. If you have to 'qualify' to get into the thing it's like they could pick favorites. Everyone should be treated fair and they should be working on things that need to be focused on, instead of this ridiculous idea.
I THINK THEY SHOULD GET 20% OFF ON GROCRIES
I think it is not the best way to discount workers because employees that are heavier would feel like they are being pushed to lose weight then the heavier workers would fell like they were being riped off just because the were heavier.
This may help support the plan of trying to make America healthier, but obisity is not always an option, but is often a health problem. These types of problems in people can not be helped and they shouldn't need to feel bad about it.
This plan will not only help get more money circulating in the economy, but will also promote healthy eating. In times like this, a discount is welcome and health will come soon.
I think that the concept is good, because it encourages people to be healthier, but i don't think it's totally fair. Someone might be really fit and rich, while someone else is strugling with money and doesn't meet the standards of being "fit". And sometimes people can't even help their weight, like sometimes it's in your genes or you have medical issue that makes you weigh a little more than the average person.
I say it's a great way to encourage employees to weigh less, but it also makes those who don't qualify unimportant.
I think it is a great way to fight obesity, but I can also see how some people who may be overweight could find it discriminating if they applied for the discount and were told that they were too fat to qualify.
Maybe Whole Foods should consider giving those people who work at the store discounts on healthier foods to encourage them to eat and feel better. Plus, as they have said, give an extra discount to those who are actually going through with it.
i think that it is good and bad because it is good that they care and bad that they are giving empolyes a discount and not other people the same discount.....
The plan sounds good to me. After all, who wouldn't want to be healthy and save money?
The "Weigh less, Pay less" policy is pathetic and discriminating. It is NOT a good idea!
To some this might seem unfair. But this is a country full of fat people. It is sort a gets people to lose weight. But it also is forcing people who are okay with their weight to lose it.
omg this stuff in the white house and everything needs to be put behind us and look on other things like the earthquake in haiti, and this crisis..
I think this policy is great. I do not promote discrimination, but I do promote healthiness. The intentions of this policy are obviously to create a healthier America, a problem that everyone is complaining about. These are the first steps to a more fit country, so I do not understand why everyone is trying to stop the progress. Too many people complain about stuff, and poke holes in plans when they should just use a little more common sense. The policy is here to help everyone lose weight, not to discriminate against overweight people.
Whole Foods just wanted to help empolees be healthier. The plan doesn't discriminate. You can't help being black or white of olive-skinned. You can try and lose weight. You can try and stop smoking. Whole Foods was just trying to save money and lower the obesity rate. What's the big deal about this?!! They aren't going to change it anyway. Toyota recalled the Prius beacuse it endangered people's lives. Whole Foods won't recalled the plan because it helps save people's lives.
I think this is a good idea because it will help people who are overweight try to lose weight to get this discount, it will also help try to get people to stop smoking. This might also help the econimic problem because people might buy more, making the store buy more, spending more money. This could also have the exact opposite effect.
I think it's encouraging because come on who doesn't want to get discounts off groceries!
It's no more discriminating than a school gym class. In my gym class, we are required to run a mile every day within a 10 minute period, and if we fail to do this we get an F as a test grade. whether or not we have the ability to run that mile is based on our physical ability and effort. America has gotten lazy, we have an obesity rate of 73%, and with this economy, a discount like that can encourage the employees to beat the laziness and save up more money.
i think that this program is discriminating because it try's to get people considered fat to lose weight because if their skinny it makes their food look good if its a food store whats next they start giving discounts for having tan skin and looking beautiful? its just not right
I think it is a very good plan because some people dont have enough money to pay for full price. And it can help a lot of people in the world. It well hep save money and encourages people to lose weight and stay healthy.
I think that it is toataly unfair. People can't help it if they aren't up to the haelth requierment. Plus it is also discrimination against people that are out of shape, have high blood pressure, smoke, and have high collesteral. Imean sometimes it isn't there fault, it cuold have been there parenst or grandparents.
I think it's an "okay" idea because it'll help the people who are overweight watch what they eat and hopefully help them... plus it can also help people stop smoking. Although, the outcome could be the exact opposite and things could just spiral down the drain.
I think this is half good half bad. The good thing is that it encourages a lot of people to lose weight, which means more exerxise.
But it's bad because some people exersize regularly, but can't lose a lot of weight. So my point is that maybe they should abandon this idea for a while, and focus on "exersizing" not "weight", so that it'll get fair.
I think this policy is a discriminatory plan. If overweighted people go to work at the grocery stores, they can't get enough discount. although everyone is fair, they don't have the same right with healthy people, who get more discount than fat people. So this policy is unfair to obese people.
i think its good
I think that that is unfair. this might start something we don't want i would think some people would not go for that. I know that i wouldn't stand for that. i would probaly quit an dfind a new job.
We think this is a good idea because this encurages people to lose weight and live in a healthier life style.
I think that it is a good idea because then overweight people can have something to motivate them to be fit.
I think its stupid because not all people fit those qualifications but do eat healthy. Have you ever noticed that they think America is fat but the always charge more for the low-fat or healthier foods. I think its also a thing that is descriminating and could hurt alot of peoples feelings. Some just have a family history of this stuff and they cant really control it.
It is stupid if you ask me.
people should't be judge on their weight and if they do get discounts on food just for that then they should shut the store down
I think it would be good for some employess who can't avoid grocies even with 10 % off. I also hope that it will help the other employess who don't qualify to get in shape
i agree
I don't think it's fair, because why would someone who is unhealthy want to change their ways if there is no discount for them???
I think it's fair the way it is.
I think its fair because the people who work their deserve a discount after working so hard!
i think it isnt fair that some people get discounts and other dont just because the arnt healthy.everyone should get it if they are healthy or arent.
i dont think its fair because your not staying healthy the way that you are buying grocieries.
I think this discount is unfair. It might make over weight people think poorly of themselves. I think it should be the other way around so people who are unhealthy can start eating healthy. But, either way I think this is unfair.
no, because it won't be fair to other people are not healthy.
Whether or not you ar heavy set, you should get discounts on veggies and fruits. In fact, I think that they should get discounts, not the thin people, because fruits and vegetables help you slim down
I don't think it's fair because the casheirs do not feel like giving out discounts.
If only some people get a discount and others are unhealthy will they get healthy?? No, they won't so most people will want a discount protesting. It's never fair for only some people to get to play and not let other people play along too. Everyone should have equal rights with getting discounts in all. So, unhealthy people will get healthy if they get discounts thanking you and whoever gives the discounts will have or get more service.
I think it is unfair that if your healthy they give you a discount but it encourages the unhealthy people to do better.
the unhealthy people would probobly quit because the healthy people would be bragging. its bad for whole foods because more healthy people would ask for jobs.it would be more fair if it stays the way it is.
I think its wrong because people who weigh less deserve a 20% dicount to a person that weighs a lot. they do because the work harder than a person who weights a lot
I think it is unfair to have fit people get discounts. What if a poor overweight person is hungry. They wouldn't be able to buy anything since they don't have a dicount and they are poor. Even if an overweight person has money it would be unfair.
No, beacause it is extremly unhealthy for people i think they deserve discounts to get stronger
I think the employees should get 20% of because they spend their time working and the people that are unhealthy can still get healthy but for a little bit more and it was there choice to be unhealthy and the employees get a discount because the company gives them a gift for working so hard. The unhealthy people could smoke and eat alot of greasy food but they can still change their ways
No, because people who need to get healthier should get the discount instead of the healthy people who don't need to get the discount. It is also more fair that unhealthy people get a discount so they don't need to pay money for other plans to get healthier and lose weight.
I think that it is fair because the employees work almost the whole day and the unhealthy dont eat healthy foods and smoke so that is their problem! They make their choices and healthy people make good choices like not smoking and eating halthy foods.
I think it is actually a very good idea. I just think that Whole Foods is just trying to encourage employees to be healthy. The only thing that I would change is 20% discounts to 10% discount because people who can't help being unhealthy might feel like a 20% discount is unfair.
I don't think think it's fair because if it's only healthy people getting the food, then whole foods is only helping healthy people. I think that they should give the discount to unhealthy people because then they would be helping people alot more and they'll feel better about themselves.
think it's unfair because only the healthy people get the discount not the unhealthy ones.
No, because unhealthy people should get discounts so they can pay
less to get heathly
I truly think it is discriminating that unhealthy people DO NOT get discounts. The employees do not need it because they are in EXTRA good shape. It is like switcharoo day! They need to have unhealthy people get discounts and healthy people don't! They need to fix that conflict.
i think this discount is unfair. i think people who are out of shape and not healthy want to be healthy and regular weight. i think this should be flipped around. this is very unfair discrimination. unhealthy people probably feel depressed and mirerable knowing they are not getting a discount. i never thought something like this would happen!!!!!!
I think it's a good idea, America is already overweight, and giving an incentive is a great way to attack the problem.
It's good that they want their employees to be healthy, but deciding if they "qualify" or not should be based on more than 3 things. BMI is sometimes inaccurate because one person might have a lot of muscle and be considered "overweight".
I don't think that the Whole Foods program is equally balanced. Everyone's body is different. But I don't think that the Whole Foods idea is bad, but it should be focused more on nutrition and portion size rather than the amount of physical activity.
some people cannot control their genes
I like the intent of becoming a heathier nation, however I also feel this may be discriminatory. I believe it would be a very diffcult task deciding the difference between nature vs. nurture.
I like Whole Foods efforts, but for the people that DO smoke and/or obesse might find this offensifie, as if the manager made this because of them.
I think that the effort is great, but might be offensive to the employees that don't get the discount.
Yes, everyone loves a good discount, but think about how hard it will be for these employees to break their bad habits. Both smoking and eating a lot can be addicting.
I think it would be a good idea. But what about the people who don't work for grocrey stores, or food places. Theres other people who want to loose weight too, so why can't they lower the prices for all people instead of just the workers?
I think this is a great policy, because this will encourage workers to take the time to excercise.
chelsi you are right but what about the people whos weight gain is soley genetic and they cant lose anymore? if i were one of those people i would feel a little unincluded. i do think it will help people stop smoking though.
I think it's a bad idea because those with unhealty habits might find it offensive.
some people can not control how much they weigh, so it is unfair to thoes people.
....I think that people should think more about the price than being thin.....
i think the dicount schould aply to everybody and not just certian people btu it is kinda good i guess but still it should be given to everybody not just some peopes
I think thats good because it encoureges people to lose weight and stay healthy
People should get discounts. But it might be wrong because most overweight women get overweight because of birth control shots and men because they eat too much!
I have never been to the Whole Food grocery store before, but from the comments and friends I believe that the store sells fresh and healthy products. For my opinion, some people who are in good shape doesn't mean they can get extra benefits. Some people who are fat maybe on the computer so much. But they might be paying bills and trying to find a job, they might even do researches online. You can't blame them because there fat they don't have time to even relax so how can they have time to care there weight. So everyone need to treat equal.
This idea is great in all, but you do have to realize that its not that easy to lose weight. (Especially in women!) So everyone around you would be getting discounts, and even thought you're striving to lose weights, you still don't even get a discount for your efforts!
Our econmy is bad so this should help a whole lot
This is a completely terrible idea. Say this passes and "normal" people pay less. Well the overweight people might start:
1. A riot
2. Drop the weight
3. Nothing
No one wants a riot. And if they all do drop their weight then the whole plan is pointless. The average American male weighs about 190lbs and female at 163lbs. That's not reall "overweight" in comparison to some, but it isn't great. Most American males want to be, say 160lbs and females around 120-130lbs. Both are around 30lbs heavier than their goal. This means most citizens will get the bad end of this deal. Also, the [company] will then be subjected to determining what "fat" is in the American lifestyle. Do we really want that?
i think that if you have to buy whole some foods to get a discount than all of the companies that sell fatty foods they will go out of busniess and that will cost many people there jobs and with the economic recession that would mean that the unemployment rate will go up more than it already is
well i think that if you weight less you should get a discount on food because those that do weight lessgxtra mile to hold in their hunger
I think that is good way to cncourage one to take care oneself and also it can cut down heathcare coast. So it's goood
I think that it's encouraging but dosn't help them eat healthier.
I know, who would WANT to be overweight and have problems with their body, and die earlier because of it? It's descrimination because only the "skinny" people get dicounts but what about the overweight people? Grocery stores shoudn'd give discounts even if your overweight or not.
I think that the " Weigh less, Pay less" program is a good idea, but not very good for people who naturally are obese. It could be unfair and make people think they can't do anything without being skinny, because according to society, it's the new "trend". People CAN be overweight as long as they TRY to be healthy. Would you rather have someone smoke than be overweight? For example, if someone was overweight, and he/she smoked, most people (relatives/friends, etc.) would focus on helping them to lose weight. All that stress would cause them to smoke more, and smoking is bad if you're just neer the smoker.
I think that this new discount program is really unfair. All employees should be treated equally. Some people are fat because of a disease, or because of medication, and they can't help it. I think that people who are fit are rewarded by living longer and healthier, not by geting a bigger discount.
I think It is a good idea. I mean who doesn't want discounts on groceries.
Since working at grocery stores isn't a very high-paying job, I believe it's fair to give them the extra discount.
... If some workers get it (the discount) everyone should get it.
Even though it singles people out, programs like these need to be used. Obesity is becoming more and more a national problem. Enticements, such as saving money, are a great way to get people and America healthier.
I Think they should not eat fast food because it's not healthy for you than you'll have to Lift Weight and Eat Healthy Snacks Like Carrots,Corn,Apples,Bananas, and Salad Are Go to eat also don't eat fried Chicken .Make yourself some Bake Chicken Is Healthy. And In The Morning You should always eat Oatmael Every Morining. Also Carl Azuz I Watch Cnnstudentnews Every Morining.
We believe that the policy is unacceptable because some of the workers are over weight because of the stress in their lifes and the economy is dropping and taxes are higher. So the plan should be lose a few pounds and that is the discount you get.If the plan gets changed it should be something that is fair forevery one. Also the plan doesn't give the customers the same so way have the employees get discounts when the customers don't
I think this plan is quite creative and has a good purpose. But, I think that it is not realistic enough to practice. Because it is hard to decide how to divide people into groups which can get a discount and not. Each person has different health situations, so giving discounts to people just in good-shape isn't appropriate. Also, this plan can make obese people depressed and lead them to do harmful diets. Therefore, for some people it may cause health problems, rather than health improvements.
Overall, encouraging people to be healthier is an excellent idea. Of course the company needs to be careful not to discriminate some groups. If the rule is: you will get a discount if you at least try to be fit, then it is a good idea.
I think it might be hard for the employees to get rid of bad habits. Whole Foods should understand that.
Whole Foods sure is making it engouraging, but why only the emplyoees? I say Whole Foods should open the challenge up to the customers in their store too.
I think they should do this. Obesity is a huge problem in the US. People should get a reward for being skinny because now in days its hard.
This is a great idea, but I don't think it should be limited to employees only. If the "Weigh Less, Pay Less" challenge was available to customers, it would be very encouraging for Whole Foods shoppers to not only eat healthy, but get healthy too!
i think that if Whole Foods wants their workers to be heathly. Then why not everybody?? Everybody diserves 2 be heathly. Not just the Whole Foods workers.
I think they should do this for encouragement but, also keep in mind that not everyone's body is easy to control. Some easier than others.
Honestly, I think that it wouldn't be the best idea because those are more personal problems. Employee's just go to there work, to get there job done. Not get rewarded for being healthy. Maybe the employees could get a discount, but getting a discount for being healthy? What has America come to?
I think that it is great that people want healthier foods to cost less but why do people need so much motivation to be healthy. It may taste good but then ask yourself, how will this benefit my body and health?
I agree that it's discriminatory. It's not fair for the Whole Foods company to add incentives for only certain employees just because they are under a certain weight. It's ridiculous that they are offering the discount to workers who are already in shape, and not the ones that do need to be losing weight. If the company is going to allow discounts, it should be to every employee, so they can all have the chance to eat healthier rather than just the ones that fit certain requirements already (which, by the way, just because they're thinner or weigh less doesn't necessarily mean they eat healthy).
If it is open to the public it cannot be discrimination. Everyone can participate if they want to. I think it is a very good idea.
I think it realy don't think it batters!! As long as you get a coupon!! I don't carry!!!
That's kind of discriminating healthy people from unhealthy people. It's sort of mean, but on the other hand, it also encourages employees to be healthier. You could look at it both ways.
I think that people should get something fopr doing the right thing by eating, and physical activty. Poeple are saying that its not some peoples fault, but the peopel could at least try to eat better and do more physical activty.

i think that it is not fair because many people are losing jobs and money so it is still expensive but for wokers it isn't.
I think Whole Food emplyoees should get a bigger discount because i go there alot and they are great workers.I think they earn it.
i think this might be a good idea but we all need to work on are weight
I think it is not fair because people have been working there for maby years.
I think it is like racisum only against fat people.
Even if it sounds like a good plan, what about the people who have high colesteral, heart faliure, or obesity in there genetics? Do they get special treatment or are they just out of luck?
I think it's a good reason to lose weight. Too many people are over weight in this country and we need to something about it.The less people over weight the better.
i dont really like that idea because it is practally saying that if people gain over weight than they get a discount.....it is not really fair for the other people who have to pay the regular amount of money and the over weight people get same amount of food, just that they dont have to pay as much.....!!!!!!
I think it's stupid because we can't start more racism against fat people
I think the program could be bad because what if your obese by genetics? I don't think it's fair to punish those who can't help being over weight.
I think it is great that the plan is good for the discounts and it can give people a chance to loose weight ad decrease obesity in America, because the obesity rate is too high and awful.
I think if you eat to much the food componies practicaly own you and your mony. But as we all know they are very powerful
I think that the extra discount is encouraging. Some people will be offended by this but they might then try to strive to get healthy. With everything so expensive some people would do anything to save money. This discount will benefit all of us because America will try to get skinny, and we will all have a little bit more money. It may not seem like it will change anything right now, but in the long run I think there will be a lot of improvements with obesity.
I have to say yes and no. You see it is a good way to motivate weight loss. But some people lack the self-confidence to try to lose weight. But I think it is a good Idea in a way.
I think it is kind of offensive to people of certain weights. If they don't like the person just ignore them then not giving them a job
I think that this is unfair because not everyone can be healthy or skinny. some people have faster metablsims then others so even if they eat healthy and less the still gain more weight. If there going to get a discount plan they should do it by how the employes eat, and stay active not by how much they weigh.
They shouldn't do that it is just like being racist!!! Why should the people who don't eat much or burn fat more easily or exercise every week. .People can't help if they are a little chubby or fat. Its there problem not yours! Maybe they like the way they are. I think its time to stop judging people; you know people do have feelings. Some people take it offensively.
it motivates and discriminates
I don't think it is right to judge people by thir weight. Think about it if you are the one being judge
It could both ways: Some people would be encouraged, while others would disagree. It can also be wrong because some people can not help being overweight. However, some people can be encouraged by this and start losing some of the extra flubber.
Nice one, Lara.
It is total Discrimination. Everyone should be treated equal !
I think they should do this for encouragement but, also keep in mind that not everyone's body is easy to control. Some easier than others.i think that there should be a discount for that kind of food
I think it is encouraging for people to try to get healthier and save at the same time. People who work hard to stay healthy are benifiting themselves other than everyone else who are obese.
This is a great idea and i really think tht people can change if they really want to PLUS if you you are going to save money that is AWESOME, am i right? Well i personally think being fat is a given privilige and dislike it so much 🙁
I think it is okay and actually good that people who are healthy should get a discount on food because then the obeace people or large people will learn to be healthy and not fat. They will learn to eat friut instead of chesse balls. But if their is a obece person triying to stay healthy and working harn ecsersizing and eating healthy then they shoul also get credit by trying to be healthy even though they might still be large.
I like the idea, and I'd definetly want to exercise more to make certain i can get those price drops.(When I'm an adult, and have a job, of course.) I just wouldn't believe that everybody supports it....
I dont think that it is right to give others more percentage off of their food but then others only get 20%. To me i think that everyone should get the same amount taken off. You say that if someone participates they can save more then someone who works at a company but what if that person works at a company and participates then they would still be getting a lot more off of there food then anyone. If everyone got percents off of there food then some people may not have a job because they would not be making a lot of money. So I think that we should all just get the same amount or also what if someone is sick and dont have time to go and paticipate in the new discount plan then they lose that because they were sick or had to do something else that was not there fault. So from this I think that it should not be people that work in a healthy food place get 20% discounts or people who go to the new discount plan get a bigger discount because it would not be fair to others. Thanks for letting me put in what i had to say.
The idea of this is great! It would motivate people and I think it gives people who have been healthy there time to shine, however I do think it is unfair to someone who is hospitalized or has a disease. Its not there fault they were born with something or caught something, I think the rules should be altered to people who are truly sick, or they should just lower prices on health food all together.
Thats not fair! I'm obese and I don't think stores should be ointing fingers at us. Some people have to eat more because of health problems. I totally disagree!
I think it is a great way to get employes do get active and loose some weight. It also motivates shoppers to thinking if they can loose weight, than I can to. It is not discriminating against "bigger employees", their not making them loose weight, they are setting a good standard, and we need that motivation.
I think it is a good idea and i support it. The average weight of an american is so high that it is unhealthy to be at America's average weight. Little things like this can change how fat the country is!
this iis a form of discrimination. it should not be "weigh less, pay less" but instead something less offensive. something like if you eat healthier or excersize more then you should get a discount.
it should be that healthiar foods that help you in health wise should cause less. because thae president is always worried about health care but people just dont have the money to by things.
I think that the people that weigh less shouldn't get anything discounted. Many of the people are probably trying their hardest and shouldn't get pointed out for what they weigh. For some it can be hard to loss weight and for others it can be easier you don't know and it can be very hurtful to say that they don't get the same things as others.
I do think that this is stupid because it seems like if you are not as in good as shape then you should get the discount rather then the people who are already in good shape. I also think that they are just doing this for business because they know that the people who are in good shape will continue buying from Whole Foods.
i think that everyone should weigh less than we can pay less it works easly i dont know why everyone maks a big deal it is so easy
I think it is stupid. if people want to be fat that is their right.
I believe all people should get the discount on some of the healthy food to encourage them to slim down or stay slim and stay healthy and buy more fruits and vegetables...
I think its a fantastic idea, but they should also give a discount to employees who are loosing weight too. Its a great way to encourage people to get fit!
I believe this is a great idea because it certainly would halp people get incouraged to buy and eat more fruits and vegetables... It would especially help this country currently in a ression to get more people to buy more and get the money flowing again...
i dont think this is right there are people who r big and heavy and theres people who weigh a llot less because they work out and exercize so i would say and if i could vote vote no on this
if you dont way less then your gona waste all of your money on workout eqitment and food.If you are at a good weight class then you dont have to worry about taking a loan
I think if only people who are healthy are the only people who get the discount, thats not fair at all. I think that you should get a discount no matter how healthy or not healthy you arre
I think this isnt a form of discrimination. It is a way of motivation for the people who are not in a fit shape to get slim and save money. And its a reward for those few people who are.
I think this is really discriminating. It's not right to have only some people get a discount because their in shape. At the same time it does encourage people to lose some weight.
I think that if people who are in better shape get rewarded for that then it is a good thing. It will encourage people who are not in as good shape to lose weight and live a healthier life style.
i think that that is a good idea but many people have problems loosing wheight what will happen if they dont loose any weight will they get fired?'
I think that it's a good idea for people who weigh less and need to save money, but is bad for people who try so hard to lose weight and just can't if it's in their genes.
My opion is that this is both encouraging and dicrimation. This is encouraging because this shows how much money they can save if they lose weight. This is dicrimating because it may be tookin the wrong way if your over weight.
i think it's great that they are getting sheaper food
It is bad chunky people shouldn't get paid less they should get paid equaly because it will be against the amendments
This might work if your in good shape good for you . The people who are not as in good of shape is will get them to lose weight so then they'll get the % off this is a good idea to me.
I think that that is unfair because some people are born to be larger than others and it be racist to base things on size.
i think all they do is make you join to get you hooked. They let you pay less because it works less. My moto "if it costs less it works less." They probably say work out wile using this product and if they dont you do anyways. Lets just say The extersize is working not the food!!!!!!!!
