Fix the Economy!
Rethink, redesign, rebuild: the theme of this year's World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The business and political leaders meeting there are going to have a ton of ideas about how to deal with the world's economic situation. But we want to hear yours! Whether you're thinking globally or locally, tell us how you would fix the economy. And don't be afraid to get creative; some of the best plans come out of off-the-wall suggestions.

In order to fix a local or even global economic pandemic, I would look into the epicenter of this finacial earthquake. Once noted we could try to learn from that then do the complete opposite of that. It is like going back in time and changing the future, not for our individual needs but for the whole world's need.
I definitely think that a general movement towards free market capitalism is the way to go. Too much government interference has imbalanced the economies of world nations. Less government regulation means greater flexibility with economic freedom, prosperity and growth.
Is it still possible to imitate Mr.Franklin D Roosvelt: Basicly, he set up the tennesseee reservior programme, which both created job chances and did good to America in terms of ecosystem and economics. Applied to the current time, it might be feasible in America which is big enough for creating a programme but for small(area related) countries, like the UK, it might not be possible. However, they could set up international programmes eg. to co-operate with African countries, lower the taxes to attract business companies and offer intenational job opportunities and do good to the third-world countries. As we known, although African countries are poor, yet they have amazing resourses!
Currently we should let the economy to continue to weaken. As current students, we should all aim for trying our absolute best at school. Then in the future, WE will fix the economy. I'm sure we will be able to think of somthing!
I know that nations around the world want their benefits to be better and higher than other nation's. but I think if one nation gets in to financial trouble, it affects other countries, too. The solution I thought up is: every nation around the world should be open to other nations about trading and trade with each other to earn money. Nowdays, fixing the world economy is a bigger problem than a nation's economy.
Veterans Energy Project Plan
Obama wants jobs. Veterans need ideas. They don't have money.
But, If I were Obama, I would implement a concept like:
Set up only veterans and disabled veterans – young and old as owners(businesses for Veterans)
Rent complex roof tops(Stimulates the economy)
– Apartments
– Businesses
– Barns
– Etc.
Build solar panels arrays
Provide electricity to those in the complexes(No transformers needed to transmit electricity)
Pump remainder into the public grid for additional profit(Continuous revenue for Veteran owners and employees)
– Provides jobs evenly across the nation
– Creates Energy source
– Eliminates emissions(No fossil fuels used to create energy)
– Creates new jobs now
– Reduces damage to the environment
– Creates more taxpayers
I feel that the bills are just cutting down money spending. What I think should really happen is just producing less items. Supply and Demand.
I would fix the Economy by not getting money from other countries but having a campaign/vote in U.S.A to see what the people want !

What President Obama has been doing is the wrong way to fix the problem at hand. The solution is not for the government to tax the wealthy and distribute the money, the solution is to cut taxes and let the people stimulate the economy. The way things are going now, the government will continue to get bigger. Like Ronald Reagan said "In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem" and i feel like this could be applied to the situation now.

I think that we could fix the economy in many ways. We could start giving people what they need and not stuff that is not necessary to people. In stead of making health care limited things that we don't need should be more expensive. Necessities should decrease and things we don’t need should cost more money.
Lower gas prices because if the price goes higher no one will probably have gas in their tanks and they would blame many people for it you can also lower anything like health care and if i were in the prosition to fix the economy i would try to give people jobs so they can make more green!

well i think that i would fix the economy is SAVE the TREES and use less paper. heres why. because if we kept using too much paper then we would keep cutting down trees and soon run out and wouldnt be able to breathe anymore which means that al people would die without air and thats a horrible way to die.
The way I would fix the economy is by lower tax prices. Even thoughwe need the money, there are many people out there that just can't afford it . Since they can't afford it they stop spending all their on clothes and going to stores. Thats how people are losing their jobs and getting layoffs, because their bussinse is going down.
I think that companies should hire more people. This way, more people without jobs will get jobs and companies will get their work done faster. It's a win-win!
I think that if i could make the economy better, i would do many things! i would use the leftover money for people who are unemployed. That would help many people and their families. i would also try to raise the salaries of some jobs because people aren't getting enough money for their family! My main point is to help families all over the worl so we can live in a better place! And i would try to stop war, but i want this world to be a peaceful place!!!!!!!
I think that the world's economic situation is very serious and we should help our earth to save our planet. One way is that we should recycle, reduse, and reuse. People are throwing away water bottle that could've been reused or recycled. Another way is that we should save pollution and not waste too much gas and water. That is what I would do to help the economy.
I think that people should fix the economy in many ways. First would be to hirer more poeple for jobs so they aren`t in a bad situation. Also, people shouldn`t spend money on things that they can`t afford. Another way is, we can keep on trying like were doing now to fix it. Thats how we could fix the economy.
I would fix the economy by lowering the gas prices because everyone is saying they are too high.
There is no way to fully "fix" the economy. Because of history's patterns and new generations, there will always be economic inequalities, depressions, recessions, etc. However, there is a way that we can STRENGTHEN the economy to wear damages are not as severe as those in the past. But, the only way of doing this is by making simple everyday sacrifices and choices to contribute to the whole impact on improving the economy. People need to be more aware and conscious of what they buy, and how it will affect the world on a communal and global level. To alert newer generations, there needs to be more of a stress on how important economics are so that kids will grow to manage their time and resources in a more efficient way. We do not not have to necessarily "redesign" and start from scratch, but rather make use of our strengths and turn the disadvantages into advantages.
I think we should just eliminate high pricing... I honestly think everything should be one dollar. Then everything would be easy for us to buy, and more purchases would be made.
To fix the economy I would make a deal with buisnesses to get the unemployed jobs. Also, I would start a program that would help places that have suffered through danger such as Haiti.
I would fix the global economy. I would put out banners all around the world to tell people about the global warming. I would also try to broadcast it all over the world. I would also try tel get people to car pool to save gas. This would cause less global warming. I would also get groups to help me tell the world. Finally, i would tell them about the poor little animals that suffer from global warming.
I think rebuilding old city buildings, adding a new sheme of color to ugly old paint, fixing sidewalks for pedestrians, and making a better place for disability. This will increase immigrants coming to the U.s. and a lot more money will be given to the government because of the rate of new citizens.
You can be more careful of our surroundings by carpoolong or recycling so the earth could be a better place. There are a lot of things you can do to help out. The earth needs to be taken care of. People should be also aware of the money that they are spending because our economy isn't in the best shape such as the game shows and many other things.
Personally, I would focus on global economic problems. If everyone puts all there effort into trying to fix the economy, we would surely be out of debt.
Make something, a group, or program, beside unemployment, to help GET more people jobs. Or the government should worry less about heathcare, etc. for the moment and worry about getting our economy out of debt.
Make some sectors free from investors’ appetites. House, health, food, and education should not be regarded as the one for investment. If we so, at least, overall economy can be better than now though some who have lots of money could not help giving up good opportunities. Remember where this crisis has been started.
If i had the chance to fix the economy i would first make houses for the people that are poor then, i would get money machiens and make money to ahnd out to peopole who needed it.
The economy is bad and I don't know how to fix it because I'm not that smart and I don"t know that much about the government and stuff like that.

I think the economy isn't something we can change overnight. We need to wait and see what President Obama has in store for us, and we need to hear his ideas. Personally, I would start with the issues on jobs,maybe we should cut some times in half and make way for new ones. Maybe we should create a new government run company and that will open jobs.That opens up many new questions, though. Like how will we get the money to fund this new program.
For this problem, everyone should help each other. More jobs should be created for the people that have lost theirs. Also, all the homes that are being lost; the government should at least try finding a way for these homes to be recovered.

To fix our quickly detoriorating economy, the government should start infrastructure projects to create jobs and also improve our communities, locally and nationally.
I think we should open more jobs for poeple, so that people can buy more and with them buying more there are more jobs needed because businesses are making more money. and its a cycle of wealth.

Well if we are in so much debt why don't we keep the public assistance programs, like welfare and section 8, and instead tax rappers and R&B singers because they make so much money and don't have to work that hard for it.

We shouldn't be going down the road to the Health Care plan. Our economy is the first priority to start working on, then the health care should be our next priority.
We should save up money to help build more general stores, markets and things that people really need. True that it does cost a lot of money to do this, but if someone can come up with a plan to actually make this happen, it'll be possible.
Donating to the Red Cross is another story, those people need our help more than anything else.
But like i said, we should not worry about the Health Care plan and start focusing on our economy. Because sooner or later, there are going to be people without jobs and are going to be on the employment lists.
We Think That We Can Help The Economy By not closeing most of the schools in the communtiy because the schools are going to go to waste. If they do close the schools, We can use them for homels and jobs!!!

I think that a good way to change the economy in the United States would be lowering the taxes, or gas prices. Many people are having a hard time finding a job right now, so they can't pay there taxes, buy food, etc. lowering prices would help everyone.

Fixing the economy is a long term project. It will take several of years, its not just going to take 1 or 2 years. They need to sit down together and brainstorm and write all of the ideas. Try some of the ideas.
Eventually they'll find the right long term project. And eventually they will get out out this crisis.
In order to fix the poor econemy we must all rise together and help the one's who are job less and even homeless then we need to " Fix our country then help the others country's" as which i belive was said by Thomas Jefferson; and before that we need to recruit helpers, and as Alexander Hamilton said " We must take man as we find him, and if we expect him to serve the public, [we] must interest his passions in doing so.

Hm, it is a very inquisitive question: How to fix the economy in the state that it is in as of now. Now, forgive me before I even start. I am -not- a politician, money whiz, or anything like that. I think, however, that the best way to beat the economy back into shape is to stop taxing(giving more money for the consumer to freely spend) and wait it out. Over time, people would start to pay off their accumbed debt and get their money into the delicate system of global finance. It sn't much of a plan, but it might start things back up a little.
I'm not exactly as creative as I want to be, but there's definately lots of stuff you can do to help the economy that are just plain and simple. You can lower taxes to have more spending money. You can put more money into your savings account instead of spending it right away. A budget helps to slow down the amount you spend at one time, so you won't go broke after a couple of shopping sprees. There are many things you can do to save the economy.
I have no idea how to fix the economy. I know that people always are complaining and smashing Obama’s name into the ground. Well, how about anyone of you try to come up with a plan that will get out 50 state country out of debt! If we tax the people any more than we already are, it will just make the people who are homeless in more debt. But if we tax less, we won’t have as much money to help with streets and homes. I have an idea! Why don’t we stop spending all that money in Iraq and send the men and women home? Although Obama isn't helping much with his spendy habits (e.g. giving France several million dollars), we can still do something for the economy. Sinceon't have much education in how the monetary system works, I still feel confident that someone might come up with a good ideda, however radical it may be.
I really would not want to be in Obama’s or bush’s shoes. All I would is lower taxes, shrink government, and lower spending dramatically. The administration spent 700 billion dollars and can’t really tell who it helped
i dont really know how to fix it. one, im not in politics or the government. two, it has to get fixed. tons of people give out ideas on how they could get fixed, and half of them are not even getting heard. i think people ARE trying to help but when someone else hears their idea and doesnt like it, then they block it out. just TRY to listen to their ideas, it may not be so bad.
Fixing the economy will be difficult not just because we are in so much debt but because of the mindset of many people. Many people are far too dependant on the government and think it's their job to do things for them, to help them all the time; what they are not understanding is that they are part of the government, this is a democracy. That attitude has led to billions of dollars in debt. What we need to do is change how we act. We also need to do is export more, import a bit less, stop handing out money that CAN NOT be repaid. Of course if we change how we act, there's a chance that we CAN get out of this before the U.S. collaspes; but we can only do that if every body helps.

The global economy has become complex with what is essentially a system that is capitalist. The primary flaw is the inability of the profit takers, the elite, unable to temper their greed for the sake of the masses. We will continue to face the economic problems in this downturn and the historical cyclical ups and downs unless the consumers of the world put some pressure on the wealthy to be more concious of their responsibility to sacrifice a portion of their wealth by reducing how much they take.
I think that the U.S should stop building up the debt and repay China and then worry about Health Care Reform and other "quick fixes" like million dollar plans to help the economy. Then China should still be interdependent of every other country because if it doesn't then it will hurt other countries like the U.S that depend on them and will eventually even hurt themselves. China can't survive only on it's own money and income. In all every country should not build up debt unless it is necessary and then pay it off first thing that they can and not do other government programs for other problems or wants.
I think that we should all work together more. I dont really have an idea to actually fix it but working together would be nice, and i t might help the government.

We need more jobs. It is really hard to find one especially for builders like my dad beacause no one is buying houses. They have to struggle to find small jobs like remodeling.

i just dont see why the prices of everything went up since like the 70's and 80s. like gas was only like 75 cents, now its almost 3 to 4 $ a gallon. i dnt see why they went up in the first place. why couldnt the prices just stayed where they were? If the world was cheaper we wouldnt have such a bad economy.

i think that we should lower the taxes. i think it is good that we have taxes but they are too high and nobody is spending their money. if they lower the taxes than people will spend the money and buy things. i think that will make the economy run a little smoother. also if they don't pass the health care reform i think we would run much better.

i'm not quite sure what i'd do. i suppose that having a spending freeze could help take care of some of the money. but we'd still have billions of dollars to take care of. but if we did do a spending freeze then we'd be stopping several other important things....
I really don't know what to do fix the economy. but, if somebody knows what to do and they ask me to help i would help them. But, the only think i know to do is recyle and pick and throw away trash that you see on the of the road , around my naborhood,and around my school also.

If everybody pitched in to do something in this world, even the littlest things like walk your neighbor’s dogs or help your mom bring in the groceries, this world would be a better world if everyone pitched in or did a little. The economy has made people loose their job’s, made people so they can’t go to the store because they have no money. If I could help the economy I’m not sure what I would do, but I would help the people who need it the most. I would start a charity raise and make all kinds of activities for 5.00 dollars. I would sell some of my things, good valuable things, such as my DVD player or my T.V. Also, I would set up a food bank for the homeless or people who lost their jobs and cook for them. I would set it up all at my house. I couldn’t help the economy but I can help people who already lost there job’s and people who need help the most.
I dont really have an idea, thats why im not president, but i think a good idea is working together. An example is if you carpool, you wont spend as much money on cars and gas. also, you could donate computers to people that want some so they dont buy any.
I think that the gov't should keep funding things like schools and the police. I think that the US has enough money to do that and still keep funding to wars and things like that.

I think to fix the economy we should stop spending money for things we want but for things we need like food, water, shelter. We should not copy to much money. Why dont celebrities and upper class citizens pay higher but affordable taxes and large business corporations pay more. The government could also get rid of bonuses because people dont need to make 300,000 to 400,000 a year when and get large amounts of their taxes taken off the average family in america makes around only 40,000. do people really need all this extra stuff like mansions instead of just buying regular priced houses
I think we should start worrying more about the peoples jobs in the world and I think after most people in the U.S has a job we should start worryying more about the taxes. I know that the government needs taxes for their money but they can make money so just start helping the people with no jobs. It would be way better if everything i this world is free but its not. I think we should take all of the cars from 1999 and under except the famous models. Then we should bring the cars to a car crushing spot and use the metal to make new cars and useing the material to make new cars like in general motor will give jobs back to us. And also don't use the robots as much to make the new cars thus will give jobs back . This will give the manufacturing people more money and the people who don't have cars because of the 1999 under will have to spend money on newer cars.
Instead of giving tons of government money to the big corporations, use it to help smaller businesses.

For locally, i would start having people expanded their business's so that the unemployment rate declines. For Globally, i think that Congress and everyone else should start thinking of ways they can recycle. How can I help fix the economy? How can I give an idea for it? Well I like the example with the snowman. It was a great example of how we can fix the economy. But my example is a fish. Yes a fish! The reason why I choose the fish is for the fact that it always comes back. If you really think that we can't fix this economy then it's like saying that a fish can't swim! I think that the snowman was a perfect example and that we do need special help. This is a serious issue because we are tryin to fix something but its like a hudge leap to the top we may have to take a couple of chances and may fall down but eventually you will land right back on your feet, meaning that changing the economy will be hard but it will be a hard one to get right back to having a good/perfect economy.

i think they should tax the rich cause they have alot of money. Poor people dont have money to pay bills or there insurance or anything not even there home. If the president cared about people, why wont he stop worring to get money!!! he needs to work on the ecomony and the people and work on the taxes or something. to at least to make the world better so that we all can have a job at least to feed the kids and the people under your roof.

I think that the war in Iraq should end. Jobs should be created and all people should be able to have health care that they can afford. That is what i would do. I would also say that all electronics should be thrown out. there is no point on having them if all they do is make you like killing and drinking. I think that the economy would be better if American's would stop being lazy. I think we should recollect the history of bad times, especially Great Depression. How we overcame it is that Franklin made tight regulations against banks for securing people's money. He also made the balanced budget polocy, minimum wage and limied worktime.
I think Obama is following Frankin. It is great. Regulation, Obama is doing. Second, balance budget, considerin over 12 trillon deficit, we should rais taxes but i insist we should raise corporate tax and the taxes of the rich, not the middle and poor. Third, to raise minimum wages is the way many people can support their families in this harsh unemployment. Until Franklin, workers including under 18 years old had to work for over 12 hours. After worktime was limited, some of them lost some of paycheck, but more people could get jobs and their jobs be securer than before.
I think that with the way our economy is now, we should be less worried about healthcare and more focused on how we can help in other situations for example, hati needs our help now more than ever. I respect the president and what he does but it seems as though not much has been achived since last january when he was put into ofice.

I personally think that we are buying to much stuff from foreign countries. Most of our products our imported, causing people who worked in factories to loose their jobs. If we stop buying, we can create more factory jobs, which in turn will create more jobs. Also, if we start making stuff, we would save emissions from overseas shipping, and we could sell it to other countries to help get money for the national debt.
There's a lot going on and not all can be fixed by one move specifically. But here's an idea that might work: Give everyone over the age of 50 a million dollars to retire. There are approx. 40 million seniors. If they all retire, you just created 40 million jobs. Tell them they have to buy a new, American made, car. Boom, you fixed the auto industry. THEN, have them pay off their mortgages. Homing crisis, done. And you can do all that for WAY less than any stimulus package. Problem solved. 🙂
Obama needs to lower taxes. This, in turn will leave more money in the pocket of the people. The people will have more money to spend and to use. This will stimulate the economy by helping the private sector and allowing them to hire more employees with their newly earned cash creating more jobs.
To fix everything, we need more jobs. Everything is connected to that. More jobs, better economy, better economy, goverentment not in debt, with that out of the way we can work on the war and the enviroment. What's another problem we have? Drugs. Hire more people to stop people from selling jobs. Give people money to start a small buisness. Pass the health care bill. It all comes back to lowering taxes, doesn't it? I've read some other comments and that is what it comes back to. I think we need to have every buisness cut all prices in half and make that the regular price. Things would cost less, the economy would improve since You can buy more with less money, and everything would fall into place. Buisness wouldn't be bankrupt because their supplies wouldn't be as expensive to buy. Finally just pay back the counries we're in debt to! The economy would improve on it's own accord. We need to do SOMETHING. If some many kids know about this and have something to say, it's fact we're in trouble. Be strong, America.
Some think we should combine parties, speaking of it like it would be easy, but they have not considered that we have never acted like a single unit. there have always been Republicans and Democrats, and if we were to rid ourselves of those seperations it would be controlled anarchy. nobody would think outside the box everybody would agree and not much would get done.
Thinking Nationally, we should take a look at history. What things got us out of the Depression? a.) the Works Program Administration, b.) A lot of Time c.) War. Now since we don't want war and we can't just wait, the Ideal solution is to create a modern works program that gives us the millions of jobs to solve unemployment, to improve the economy, ect. In fact, we could use those jobs to build buisnesses that create more jobs, and so on.
The economy would become a whole lot better if we got rid of pennies. Pennies are the most expensive coin to make and yet they are worth the least. It would lead to inflation, but it would be payed off and more in a very small amount of time...... definitely worth it in the long run.

How I would fix the economy is first, I would suggest to end Global Warming and Pollution and Urban Sprawl. We need to protect the Earth because it is the only planet that we can live on (for now). Second, I would make jobs for little things. You know the people that stand in the entrance when you go into a store and when you walk out, they check your receipt? Well, I would make little jobs like that. I would also make all industries go green, from the car industry, to the chocolate factory. NO MORE GETTING FIRED! Your boss may think you are replaceable, like old clothing, when you don't fit him anymore, he throws you out to find someone new. I would make jobs certain people have to do, for their talent.

More taxes will only give the government more spending money, and since they don't know how to budget and spend wisely, that creates more debt. Then, of course, to get out of debt we would be taxed more. It's a cycle, and it's definitely NOT a solution.
Taking money from the rich and giving it to the poor is the PERFECT solution. Why? Because then the poor people don't have to earn an education and try hard to earn their money. If we can rethink the global economy, that's great. Anybody sitting at home could do that, if they put their mind to it. What we need to do is ACT. We need to make a final decision, and the get started. And on a national basis, I see what the President is saying about a step-by-step plan, but do we really need that? I think that we need something that can be a middle ground between incremental and all-in-one actions. Another thing: If republicans and democrats could agree on ONE thing, maybe we could fix this country. Would we even be in this mess if we had politicians that could agree with each other?

I my personal opinion I believe that our first concern should be to pay off all of our debt as best we can, then start by making our economy stronger and more successful by helping the poor and unfortunate. Then we should work our way up to the top and repeat all of this when we begin to weaken.
They should try to figure out the health care reform issue first before fixing the economy.
I don't know what to think about the world's economy, or ours. Everything can always be better, but can always be worse. We should concentrate on the good, and then we can improve the bad. Still, we're better off than most.
I don't think it's right that people think that President Obama can just fix the economy in a short amount of time. It took our economy 8 years to become like this. (all due respect Former President Bush). It is just not right that people think it can happen so fast, because, frankly, it is just not that simple.
I think the best way to fix the economy is to lower taxes and help support jobs to people. This will help many families and be able to support their families. Also i think lower gas prices will also be efficient. Getting to your job is also a good way to help the economy
Everyone is saying that Barack Obama is doing the best he can , when he honestly is , If i were him i would of never ran for president because it takes courage to do what he is doing – he is trying to fix something that BUSH destroyed and now that he cant fix everyone is blaming him – he is doing a fine job and people should give him more credit.

I think the economic problems started to get much more severe when Obama started to tax us more. He thinks he was doing the poor people a favor by stealing the hard-earned money of the rich and forking it over to them, free of hard work. A majority of the poor people out there are only poor because they didn't earn a good education and/or they are too lazy to work for money.
The thing is, this not only hurts the rich, but it also hurts the poor because they start to rely on the government and don't even try to work hard because they assume the government will do it all FOR them.
This is not right.
It all comes down to two things: Laziness and Sacrifice. More and more people are dropping out of school by the year, and what they don't think about is that this not only hurts them, but it hurts the ENTIRE COUNTRY! We can't be lazy, we have to try hard, we have to do our best, and we need to do good enough to get scholarships so we don't have to worry about the cost of college so much.

I think it is all right to have discounts on foods. They still have to make money for living.
When someone says socialism, it conjures up frightening images of Stalinist Russia or Nazi Germany, totalitarian dictatorial societies with big brother governments. However, the United States isn't far from becoming socialist, or that's the way it seems with the way the government is buying out all the businesses. The government should focus on creating jobs and infusing cash into the market before they go on a shopping spree
To fix the economy we should make a green thumb club to start making buildings all go green:). We can make every place in the world try to do something good. Our planet is polluted from people smoking and dumping their trash in the oceans. We can stop that by doing daily services to help the environ ment:). We could all have a coool, green thumb B). Go GREEN FOR THE WORLD AND SAVE THE ANIMALS!!
They could try to recruit homeless people for the army and in return get food ,shelter and other needs while serving the army and a time after too the longer service the longer food, shelter and needs are cared for. if it's under six months of service then maybe they wouldn't get stuff after ward that might help get more troops cheaper.
the ecomny is getting better each minute! but alot of people say that obama has some good ideas he is just afraid to make them happen and that he is worried about what will happen if he makes his ideas happen. i for one do not belive that because i have a feeling that when he does make his ideas come true they make a good cause.. thatnk you all for reading this! =)
