What I mean is this: If there were one thing you could say to keep someone from dropping out, what would it be? If there were one thing you could do, what would it be?
I’d tell them, Is it worth it? Really…Dropping out is just hurting yourself. You will regret this struggling in the rest of your life. You would wish just to do the little amount of years left instead of stuggling for 50 years looking for a job, etc. I’d actually try to explain the consequences of dropping out.

I've watched my uncle who didn't finish his education waste away over the last 10 years. He wasn't qualified enough for a good job and the ones he did get didn't last long. In this economy, he can kiss any job that requires an education goodbye. Do you want to find yourself starving to death and unable to feed your family just because you were too lazy to finish school?

To stop a dropout I think giving dropouts some benefection like tax discount or bank mileage points when they take a full lesson every day in a week to use in seven-eleven or McDonald would be satisfactory. Some of them might not hear the lessons and sleep all day so to prevent that the teacher must check on their progress daily as whether the school can give him a mileage or not. Also friends and families of the dropouts is to be persuaded to tell this person to get on with he or her schoolworks or else they would not communicate with this person.

People that drop out of school are usually upset with a teacher or mad about something. In their mind, the easiest thing they could do is to just quit. I think that teachers and student should make sure that everybody is happy at the school they are going to.

We think that if they make 6th grade more fun, and maybe if they are having hard work, they should have easier work. They don't need to drop out of school.....I don't even know why they are dropping out, maybe they just want to hangout and play video games.

School can be very boring but schools could make days fun and exciting. I have thought about dropping out before because it can be boring but high school so far has been pretty good. I also believe teachers should become closer to their students.

What we should do is get new technology to help students.Well we think that teachers need to start making school fun for the kids. Most of the kids drop out from stress in school in school . If parents or teachers don't put a lot of stress on students they may not drop out.

In order to create a lower drop out rate, I would create a class or sort of required program to teach kids the importance of a High School degree and a College Diploma. The object of this class would be to put it in prospective and the reality of the world without either or those diplomas. It would teach kids in order to become successful in today's day and age, both of those are almost required to have a successful career and life in the future.

Something that I would do is get the student's parents or guardians involved, because parents also have a say in this. Usually students that drop out have family issues, by talking to their parents alone you can get their point of view of why their son or daughter are dropping out. Getting them together with a counselor, and talking about it usually shrinks that empty space in their relationship, and gives them more confidence to drive on.

The dropout rates are huge. We could lower the percentage in a few ways. We could have teachers show students the reasons its good to graduate such as, getting a better job, being able to support themselves, and living a better life. Also, they could participate in sports or hobbies. These are the ways we think we could lower dropout rates.

I think that at most, all you could do is take them around your stats capita and show them the "hobo's" and "bums" and tell them that if you do not finish school that this is what you would most likely become one of those "hobo's and bums".

We think they can help the dropout rate by making school more fun, by using more technology. And possibly giving the students money when they graduate. They could also help it by making it illegal for employers to hire people under the age of 18. That is our opinions on how they could help the dropout rate.

I think we can stop drop out rates by connecting with the students who drop out.The schools should make special classes for those who want to drop or get bad grades.Possibly try to make classes more fun, like projects during class.High schoolers are the future of our country and with a drop out rating that high. . .it's not a good sign for our country. We need to help these people get it together.

High school dropouts could be reduced by making more teenage friendly classes that are more relative to their lives, or just make the classes more fun in general. It might also help to make more efficient commitments to the school or join a club.

we think that someone should come and talk to talks to them and tells them what it it would be like in the future working in a stores and fast food place and they would have a bad car and a house. we also think that they should make school fun for them.in the city we live in 6th grade is elamentry school so think it should be the same every where in the us.

Students must simply understand the importance of education. If you do not have at least a high school education, it will obviously be harder to find a good job. Just graduating isn't enough though, college is almost a must, and why not? Learning makes it possible for one to teach; whether in a classroom or not, you can affect other people's lives. Teaching betters the lives of others, and everything is connected, so all the positive things you do in the world will come back to you. Making a difference in someone else's world will make a difference in yours and everyone else's, and all those little differences sure add up. This is the importance of a high school education.

Our ideas to prevent school dropout:
1. Understand those who don't have a home or an education.
2. Create an after school program that is safe and helpful for students.
3. Educate students so that they know the consequences of dropping out. For example, explain that their dreams for the future may require a HS education.
4. 😀

Although there are many reasons why studnets stop or dropout the school, I think ,as one student studying aboad, a sense of isolation can be one of reason for this. Fortunately, this case can be solved easily. Small kindness like warm greeting, smiling, small helping are all the solutions. These can be hope to students who are isolated in school and keep the students from drop out.

To keep someone from dropping out I would tell them of the importance of their education. I would also show them the statistics of their income from their decision to drop out. If I do one thing, I would take the dropouts to the slums and show them what their decisions could cause them.

I think if a student is about to drop out, someone needs to go and talk to them. All they may need is a helping hand and a shoulder to lean on, and if you give them the attention, then maybe that person will feel more important and choose to stay in school.

I would like to come out with a program that can let a person experience the life of a high school drop out. That will let them feel what it is like to live in the real world as a dropout and try to get a job, raise a family, and earn an income in some way. But this program wont just have one effect on the person but it will also help them with whatever is causing them to want to drop out. Like maybe the homework and classwork and stuff is way to over whelming and they dont think they can handle it this program will be able to help them and show them that they can do anything they set their minds to. And schools should loosen up a little and give the kids more independence because being surrounded by the rules all the time just makes you feel like you are in cage and noone can help you out of it. Maybe if we had less rules we wouldnt have so many drop outs and less people would break the rules we do have.

Teach kids stuff that is necessary to learn. Make it important. Don't play childish games and try to make things fun. Actually teach them. Cause believe it or not, some people do like to learn. And get schools to actually not be so bad. Americas schools are horrible.

Its not worth dropping out of school, it endangers you future. The schooling you get in highschool is a big factor in life. If i could do something to help against the high rate of drop outs i would try to find the root of the major problem and address it, in example if its struggling with a class, get the student a tutor.
September 11, 2009 at 1:10 pm |

Well I would just lay it all out on the line and tell them that they are making a mistake and potentially ruining their future. If they really have a problem with school i could offer my help to tudor them or find them online help but honestly the choice is up to them and i can only sway their opinion so much.

If there was one thing I could say to someone who has the thought of dropping out, it'd definately be sitting down with them, looking at them, and just saying, "you've gone to school for ____ years... why are you giving up when you're (probably) so close?!"
It's upsetting to watch students drop out, especially when you see seniors in high school dropping out, when they've gone to school for already twelve years, some thirteen if they attended pre-school, and they're just giving everything up.
I know what it's like to get stressed through out school... to realize; "Maybe life would just be easier without it..."
At the moment... yes, it may eliminate some stress... but in the long run, it's so worth it.
You can't give up on something that will make your life better.
It's worth it.
And If I came to the situation... I'd tell someone exactly that.

What I would do to stop dropouts is make school more exiciting. If the kids come to school Then every friday they should should have somthing exiciting happen. Have the teachers dress like clowns and embarass themselves one day a week. If you want the kids to come to school you have to make them think that its fun. Get kids to think that it's important to go to school. Tell them that if they don't finish high school they can't get a good gob. Get the parents to tell them they need to go to high school.

I would stop someone from dropping out of school, i would tell them: "Think about your hopes and dreams. Even if you think you'll never acheive them, well, you never know until you try. You have to give yourself a chance. If you stay in high school and especially if you go to college, you're giving yourself a bigger chance of acheiving your dreams. But if you just drop out in tenth grade, you are destroying any chance of doing what you want to do with your life. You are destroying your future." If that won't get someone to stay in school, i don't know what will.

To say? Easy: "yeah, school sucks but you won't get anywhere without an education! And you can't make a good living working at a fast-food resturant!"
And do? I'd try as hard as I can to convince them and give expamples of what happens to dropouts and then sucessfull people, and if that doesn't work I can just get them to talk to someone else.

My friend JUST dropped out tuesday because of absents he had for his first hour, they swiped his credits all out and he would've had to do 3 more years after this one and he's a junior so it'd be like he was a freshman taking junior classes and so he dropped school to get his GED instead. I didn't really know what to say since I've been home-schooled all my life and don't know what public school is like, but i DID say that I'm totally here for him and i know he's still going to get his GED and do amazing things.

I dont think it would be fair for someone to drop out, not only to themselves but to everybody. When the eldely of our time die out we need to keep the new technology working and upgrading. Everyone is needed to help continue the cycle of life. I would tell them it would be better for them and everyone else. I suggest there be a program for kids who struggle in school. I also think if the teachers make learning more interactive and fun the dropout rate would go down.

I would want to find out what is making them feel that they had to drop out, then see how we could fix the problem.
P.S. Droping out of school isn't as bad as everyone is making it out to be, I have been home-schooled all my life and I plan to skip high school all together and just head straight for college.

I Think that drouping out should be illegal. And for the studente who failed or did dropout the government should try them. By brings new learning programs. just like the health care issue the education issue should be changed

I would make some clubs for people who want to drop out and then maybe have graduates come over to tell them what great it would to if they could just hang on there without dropping out. Maybe say something like it is hard studying, but it is so easy when you go to collage. Also, the principle can talk one on one to the student and the student's parents.

You shouldn't drop out of school!! Yes i Agree its VERYY hard but think about your future!! Join a club; get new Friends; try something new!! you can even talk to a school counseler, teacher, parent/guardian or even just a good friend that you know will help guide you in the right direction. STAY IN SCHOOL 😀 it'll be better for YOU in the long run!!

I would add more classes to school so kids could have a variety and have us kids choose our classes so it's like we come to school to take the classes we would like to take. That would make school actually FUN!

if someone i knew were going to drop out i would make them think about where they would be in five years also what dreams they are letting go of.

If there was one thing I could do, it would be keeping the kids motivated. A lot of them think that they can't and that their grades don't matter and that farming or being their daddy's helper is going to get them through life and most of the time it really doesn't.
September 11, 2009 at 6:17 pm |

I would stop dropuot by giving th kids a little more freedom, and to give thie kids a class on think about droping out oh highschool.

i would stop a dropout by saying that if you dropped out think about what could happen. You would never get e good job or a good house.

To stop high school students from dropping out would be really tough but I think most kids that dropout don't have enocouaging parents to help them keep up with thier school work. Thats why teachers should help to fill in this missing piece.

I think that a student should choose if they want to continue school. Some kids just don't like school so why force them to finish?
September 11, 2009 at 7:05 pm |

To stop dropout rates from being so high I would make classes more interesting to be in. Some things that you learn can be pretty dull but if you change them to be more interactive students might find them more exciting so they would want to stay in school.
September 11, 2009 at 7:25 pm |

well, carl, there aren't many things stopping a dropout from dropping out. not to say there isn't hope, but really, what choice do most of them have? their friends can say not to, give them statistics and examples, but really, whats preventing it?

Kids may think it would be awesome to get to stay home all day without the responsibilities of school, but what they don't know is how it will effect their future. It should be our duty to educate them about the severe conciquences of dropping out of school.

i would stop drop outs by making it a law to not be able to drop outs kids could play basketball and play in the NBA and get a good scholarship.

I would Give them an award of some sort, like if they stay in school for half a year and get a b average they should get $10 in an account that they can spend on any thing that the school sells, like shirts, drivers ed, water, food, ex. and so on and so forth.
September 11, 2009 at 8:44 pm |

I think that if schools were a little more hands on and fun instead just work work work then it might help but then i also think that if students had a little time to socialize (besides lunch, and passing periods) now i am not saying a full hour or anything but like 15-20 minutes where kids could socialize, text, listen to music then they might be a little more focused on school and a little less focused on texting and talking, just like 15-20 minutes out 8 hours that isnt a lot of time but who knows it just might make a difference 🙂

I would tell someone not to drop out because education is important and the rest of your life really depends on your education so if you drop out now your giving up your shot at being wealthy and having a nice life.

If I were to talk to someone who was thinking about dropping out of school, I would tell them "If you do chose to drop out, that's your choice. It would pay off in the long run to go to school though. To go to college, so you can get a decent job that will make you enough money to survive in this economy AND let you fulfill some of your more expensive dreams. You have the power to choose what you want to do with your life don't use your power against yourself."

To stop a drop out i would explain to them what all they are giving up on. By not getting a high school diploma you cant get a good job and be sucessful in life. The only jobs that would want you are jobs like mcdonalds and burger king and little jobs like that. What i would do is to form a club at school that focuses on students thinking of droping out that just talks to them about why they feel like they have to and find a solution to make it so they still get a diploma and they are happy with how they did it.

the way i would stop droing out of school but this is in texas if maybe there wasnt a TAKS anymore so that way teachers wont have to b taching us and gettting us ready for some stupid test from the state why not a test from your own teachers that way they can teach us what we will really need insted of TAKS which is the same every year of school
September 11, 2009 at 11:03 pm |

I think there should be a club specifically for unmotivated kids with motivated kids running it. They could do school plays or just demonstrate by acting, drawing, or writing the consequences of what happens if you drop out of school. They could take trips to places they would want to work and places they would not want to work, but might have to if they dropped out.

If anything, I would try to motivate people that want to drop out with awards and honarable mentions and things like that. Maybe if you're doing well in school then you may also eat at your favorite restraunt with your class. In my opionon, motivation is the key to success.

There is no sure way to stop all dropouts, but i think if the teachers would show EVERYONE the same amount of attention then the numbers wouldnt be so high. Kids get told some horrible things in school and alot of it comes from teachers. Not all but alot. If there was maybe some more after school activities, i mean like more choices on what to do. because not everyone likes sports, not everyone can speak another language fluently. Schools seem to only have to clubs that the school wants, not what the students want. It should be more about the students! and another thing teachers dont need to let the students walk all over them! if a student just doesnt care, they probably just want some attention, keep trying to get them to participate and eventually they will. just make things fun and intresting and if you have a trouble maker in your class dont give that person all the attention and ignore your class!! After all we are kids and we LOVE attention.

Make a club that would give help with homework and extra sports practice. If better grades they would get college credit.

If I had power, I would persuade other charity groups to help students to engage into school life by donating fees or even school supplies. Since most students drop out school in order to support their families or lost interest in learning, I would also sit and talk with them about what possible problems they face and how to prevent them. After discussions, I would help students to plan out their goals and what to do with them. That way, they will feel that they are still eligible to learn in schools.

Why didn't CNN interview the students who dropped out to see why they dropped out? And then use these reasons to think up of solutions to help the younger kids who are in high school to prevent droppouts. Asking the students who are already focused doesn't really help, because they might not understand the situation the droppouts were going through, or the circumstances the students who are going to drop out are going through.
The schools should do that too, not just CNN...
September 12, 2009 at 7:04 pm |

I would have a video or a "life" game to show the kids how their future will be without a good education. Or just talk to the parents to get them to talk to their kids about them having a good education because some kids don't take this completly seriosly.
September 12, 2009 at 8:01 pm |
Morgana
i think personally that if i were on the board or a teacher, i would show the student the consequences of student drop-out... show them that they will most likely not succeed without a good eduction. then, show them the cons of staying in school. i know that your whole life should not revolve around money, but let them know that there is a very high possibility that if they stay in school with a good education they will most likely be a success and possibly make a very good income... but that is only if they try!

The increasing high-school dropout rate is simple to end: provide tempting incentives to students in a district where the dropout rate is high. Give tangible reasons and rewards to students who perform proficiently in school. Although this may seem wrong, it is actually the best way to motivate an unmotivated student. Being one myself, I love to get rewards for good academic achievements. I am a pretty motivated student myself so I am satisfied with verbal praises - however, to those students who are not so much motivated... we need to upgrade the rewards from "verbal" to "appealing to students". 🙂

i think there should be a program to teach student what would happen if they dropout of school and make them realize the consequences of dropping-out. Education is important to succeed in the future. So don't dropout!!!!!

Have the kids become more interactive with the task at hand. Games might look and feel stupid to the kids, but, in essence, it works much better than attempting to study at home alone.
The more interactive the kids are, the more it's fun for the kids, the more they learn, the less of a dropout percentage.

If I wasn't already friends with the student, I would become friends with them and encourage them to keep going on in school. If I already were friends with the student, I would join a club and encourage the student to join one too, one that includes a hobby of his/hers.

To stop high school drop out rates I would make it so that there would be a place for kids to take college classes free of charge, and make it so that it would be a federal law that you would have to take at least to college courses. That way kids couldn't drop out, because it would be a law.
September 13, 2009 at 9:34 pm |

I would tell students who are planning on dropping out that it will hurt their future. Every student should have a goal, or a reason why they show up to school every day. I say there should be a special program where it specifically teaches what happens to students who dropout. This can be the thing that keeps them going and motivated. Students should work hard now and it will pay off later.
September 14, 2009 at 12:05 am |

I would tell them that you shouldn't drop out because there a HUGE consequences of dropping out of school. If you don't go to high-school or college you won't have very many choices in life like choosing a job that you like. I think if a student drops out of school there should be a program to show them why they should want to go back. I think they also should have more "hands on" projects but read out of a textbook because textbooks are really useful in life and you have to know how to use one. And after that only 67 percent of Americans go to college after graduating from high school. I hope that high school kids stay in school and that their parents/guardian encourages them to stay in school and not drop out.

I would say, you can drop out if you want to but you will regret it sometime in your life. So prevent that regret and just stay in school, don’t drop, out you can make more money in a job if you stay in school.

I would tell them to do what they want to do. But just think about your future. Do you really want to be serving fast food at Mcdonalds or be sucsessful?

A dropout is a terrible thing to become, especially when you are about to graduate high school. Dropouts need a future, they need a job. If they don't have money, they'll regret the decision for the rest of their lives. They'll end up in some nothing job like in McDonalds or Carls Jr. (no offense to people that work there.) DROPOUTS WOULD BE BROKE FOR YEARS!!! DON'T DROPOUT!!!! YOU'LL REGRET IT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a friend that dropped out of school; they didn’t tell me before they did so I never got the chance to try to stop them. I think if they had told me I would have tried to explain to them how much they need a high school diploma to get anywhere in life. I think I would have also tried to get their parents and their other friends to talk to them and try to keep them from dropping out. I think that a person should not drop out under any circumstances, but if they do they should at least go and get their GED, but staying in school would just be much simpler and easier.

i think that the girl is tellin the truth n that she can make her own descisions about wat she want to do but her parents can talk to her about it. if she wants to switch to christianity than let it be because she can believe in anythong she wants, so when she is out of the house and on her way her parents cant make her do wat they want her to do, she can make her own descisions

That girl should stay away becuase the islams have a history of violence when switching religions. so if i were i her would stay in florida.

I would reward them for what they do and make it fun because when I go to school and it was boring and got nothing but learning out of it and not a little fun. I don't want to get out of bed and go to school because theres nothing to look forward to. Make it something to look forward to like mabey playing a fun game to go with it. Then mabey show then a video of what your choices are if you stay and what your choices are if you drop out.

the one thing that this is that everyone thinks school is boring so there dropping out.So what i would do is make school more fun

I think if students had more pride in school they may try harder to complete their classes. An example of this would be joining a sport or a club that makes them feel like they are actually getting something out of coming to school everyday and makes them work harder. Because really, anyone can graduate, if they actually care. So I think that its less about signing kids up for tutors, and more about making those students want to sign up for tutors.

As president Obama said if you dropout you are not only hurting yourself you are hurting the whole world. How I can stop people from dropping out is by being the best student I can be and hope people will follow me.

i would say a lot of things to people who are thinking of dropping out. i would give them a list of how many bad things come out of no education. and i would also give them a list of how much more oppurtunites that they have with a good High school Education. i would try anything in my power to try to stop them from dropping out. But you know you can only do so much. So it's their choice to make, and if they make the bad one, they will see what happens later on in life.

The world is a tough place, with a lot of competition. It is better to stay in school because you just might learn something that can help you in the future. In order to stop a dropout I would form a club where both students and their parents could get involved. In this club we would talk about why that student wants to dropout and if that's really a smart choice for them. I would also bring in people who have dropped out of high school to talk with the students about what it was like when they dropped out, and if they ever regretted that decision. By forming this club and talking about the decision to drop out, I would hope the students reconsider and stay in school.

If there was one thing I could say to someone to keep them from dropping out of school I would say" you should stay in school because you need a good education in order to get a good job and have a good life.

i would tell them to think about where that would get them, and where they would be in the future.also i would point out to them that dropping out of highschool now a days wouldnt get them any where, because to get any good paying job you have to have an education. nd if they want to have a family they cant depend on minimum wage, its impossible. another thing i would point out is that it doesnt seem like its a big deal now, but it will hurt her in the future.

What i would do to tell someone to stop dropping out is i would say you are quiting on your self and you have no idea what to expect later. I would also tell him that you are thinking of stopping your education and there is no way back it on your permeant reecord forever. i would end talking to them saying you might think your education now is stupid but in the future it will effect your life forever.

i think there should be a class were its puts you in the reall world for a week and show them how much harder it is to get a job or even be successful with out getting your high school diploma.

I think that what you should do is befriend that person. And actually invite them to hang out with you and be more involved in school. Get them to do spirit days for the school or just attend school sports with you. Also if you have a class with them do your homework together that way you know the person stays on track. Or maybe even stay after school with them as they walk in to get help because maybe their embarressed to walk in alone.
Something maybe teachers can do is let students start the homework early in class. That way they get a head start but also if they get stumped on a question your right there to help them.

let them drop out who cares if they do if they want to screw up their lives let them. people who drop out will just become a loser in society and have to work at McDonald's for the rest of their lives who cares somebody needs to feed Americas obesity problems and they are just the people to do it. -JOSH-

I would tell students who are planning on dropping out that it will hurt their future. Every student that is 13-18 years of age should have a goal, or a reason why they show up to school every day. I say there should be a special class where it specifically teaches what happens to students when they dropout so they know how crappy their future is going to be. This can be the thing that keeps them going and motivated. Students should work hard now and it will pay off later. when you stay in high school and get good grades and go to college it will really help your future and that way since you stayed later in school then you also make more money so you could afford the things that you want the most.

I would ask them if it was worth it? Or what they want to do when they get older, if they dropped out of school most likely they would either not have a job at all or not get their dream job. I would also tell them that they would ruin their life if they were a high school dropout or whatever type of dropout.

i don't see WHY thew dropout , education is kinda' a nessisty !

I would tell them about how dropping out of high school would effect the rest of their lives. You can't get a good paying job without a high school education, let alone without your four basic years of college. Unless, of course, you'd like to work at Wal-Mart, and raise your kids like that, or live in that condition. I would tell them that their life could be much better if they stayed, and if they dropped out, things could go down hill from there on out. Then I would compare salaries and things to those of high school drop outs, to those who finished high school, and went onto bigger and better things.

i would try to convence them into staying in school. if they just wanna dropout cause the work is to hard then i would try to give them stuff easier stuff.

The one thing i would twll the kid that was tryin to drop out is the story about all my friends and how they have mostly all dropped out and where there lives are headed with no daploma or even a GED, i see where there lives are headed and i think to myself i never want to be in that situation, i've already done eleven years why not suffer through one more....

If I could say one thing to a student trying to dropout it would definatley be " The tassels worth the hassel". And if I could do one thing to help someone trying to drop out and is struggling, I would try to help them with their school work.

well....personaly. i think it is stupid to drop out of school. i would tell them to stop and think about how they will pay their bills? or how they could suport a family? or how atractive it is to no have a good paying job? i would also try to get the parents involved and see if they know aobut this and see what the home relationship is like. some princapals need to relize their home like really impacts their life a school.

If someone told me that they were going to dropout i would give them my opinion about how dropping out would ruin their life. It would be a hundred times harder to get a job if you dropout, and I don't think you want to be a burger flipper and you might not even be able to do that.
September 15, 2009 at 5:00 pm |

I don't think it'd be affordable (for some high schools) to hire after-school tutors for high-schoolers. So I think they should just have ONE class with ONE teacher offered during the school day on how to not drop-out and do well in shcool. That way teachers would know if students were skipping class.

DONT drop out you want get no were in life if you want to play sports you have to go to school maybe if you want to get a good job such as : a doctor, lawyer, police officer. so you should not drop out of school

To stop dropouts I think that Schools and Teachers should put interesting programs such as Sports,Clubs, and other fun activities because kids will want to stay and kids will be more into those stuff and also that they`ll be learning and having fun at the same time.
September 15, 2009 at 5:57 pm |

I think that you should never drop out! To stop someone, I would talk with them. See what is going on in their life and why they want to or did drop out. I would be able to understand them a bit and I can tell them not to drop out. I would tell them that it is important to stay in school and get an education. I would tell them that learning and getting an education can open doors and opportunities. You can get a job as a doctor or lawyer; if you can get the opportunity you can earn a lot of money. I would tell them that they could enjoy school activities and participate in clubs. That might make school a little more interesting. I am not positive that my advice would work, but I hope it would help someone.

O.K. well for you kids that are even thinking of dropping out, "You have your whole life ahead of you! You might not get anywhere in life without an education. If you want the great life, go to school and you'll have a greater opportunity of getting a great job! Just never give up! If school gets hard for you, then life is going to be hard for you without a job."

I don't know why students dropout. If you dropout you might end up homeless and poor. And it also gives you education. Teachers should make school easier too. School is fun and cool because you get to be with friends and you also get to play.
September 15, 2009 at 6:04 pm |

I would stop a dropout by putting your best effort and working hard in school for a good education. Education will take you far, without education no one will have a good job."So go to school while you can."If you get a good education you will get a good job."So those of you who are thinking of dropping out think again."You wouldn't want to be broke right?

If you drop out, it doesn't do anything to anyone but it hurts the kids that need their education. So, open clubs to convince the kids to go to it. Have popular things but MOSTLY educational stuff. Tell them what would happen if you drop out, like it'll affect their lives out of school. Most jobs that you could attend to needs you to go to college. So encourage them to work harder.
September 15, 2009 at 6:06 pm |

We should have a after school program and put them in a class that the teacher could help them.It can help them get a good exiting job for them. You can make good new friends that can help you. Furthermore you probably get a good teacher.

I would stop dropouts by not skipping school.I would have clubs.let teachers know how much kids need help. You should not dropout because you would not be able to get a job.If they dropout because the work is to hard i would give them easier work. This is why i think students shouldn't dropout.School is fun like science, math, and reading.Math is fun because you do lots of activity for math.Science you do lots of experiments like volcanoes.Reading lots of fun stories.

If I could tell someone that is going to drop out I would tell them THINK of your FUTURE.Do you think dropping will get you anywhere in the future?Dropping out will be your biggest mistake. How will you raise your family ,put food on the table?Do you think living off minimum wage will be good. When you have an EDUCATION you have a better chance of getting a scholar ship which means you have a chance of getting a good paying job.So before you drop out think of your future!

We would try to stop a dropout by telling teachers give the student one more chance. They should give them some extra help or tutoring. If they still don't do good in a few days then maybe they can drop them out. Try being patient on students, don't russ them. Sometimes that can be hard for them. Making students have a harder time. If students drop out they wont have a good education and might not get a good job. That is what we think people should do about drop outs.
September 15, 2009 at 6:13 pm |

For the people that have dropped out or want to you should not because you need to be well educated. Also you should stay in school to get a pretty good job and home. Then you should stay in school to try to get a scholarship so that your parents save money.

School can be boring sometimes but you're there for a education . It's not just fun and games do you know that you can get in to college for free if you get good grades in school . Even if you play sports you can get into college to. So if I were you I would stay in school . So i can get a job and live a great life
so stay in school.

they need to get rewarded for the things that they accomplish so that they feel good about themsleves and they need to be involved in sports or other group activities. They need to be informed about the consequences about dropping out and the long term effect that it has.

i think its a bad idea to drop out of high school!!! everyone has some type of goal on what they want to do!! i would tell them that they should stay in high school because their future depends on it!! with your high school diploma, that will make you look good cause you were a student that made it through.. if you go to a job interview and the boss see's you never graduated from high school and your a drop out, you would be the last person they would want to hire so it would be harder to get a job.
September 15, 2009 at 8:22 pm |

Okay, I would first ask him or her what's the use of dropping out? If you drop out of school, it can lead you to lots of bad things! It's not cool dropping out of school for no reason so what's the reason? You would have no future. You would also have the worst job ever and get little pay. Don't drop out! It's no use!
September 15, 2009 at 8:24 pm |

Since most dropouts say they stopped going to school because they were bored and unmotivated, not because they were failing academically, teachers must find techniques to motivate and include all kids. Every teacher should get to know all their students and some of their interests to connect better. Also, sports and clubs should be easily accessible and encouraged for the student to join in so they can get excited and mesh with a group of people with other common interests.

I would stop a dropout by not only having available tutors but someone that may be able to motivate them as well. The reason they may be dropping out is because they are not getting enough motivation as they need at home.

Stopping high school dropouts is like telling people to stop being stupid, they stand there and get all indignant that you're calling them stupid when if it wasn't true you wouldn't be telling them to stop in the first place. Often times guilt or making them believe they have to, is really the best way to make people stay in school. Insulting them works too, nobody wants to prove to someone that they can't do something. Tell them that only stupid people can't make it through high school, and that you don't think they're stupid and then ask them to prove you right.

People that dropout school want no homework. They also don't like waking up early. To make people like school, teachers should make education sound more fun.People who are dropping out of school is because they don't want any school work all they want is recess and more free time and gym.

You should not quit school because high school helps you get a good job. You can get a good education and move forward with your life. It gives you a better future for tomorrow. It's cool. If you stay in school you would not get yourself into trouble.

Dropouts only get one warning as far as I'm concerned. I sit in class day after day, week after week and people seize to amaze me at the fact they just don't care enough to learn. If someone wants to drop out, it's their choice. Personally speaking, it'd be easier on the teachers and the students who want to learn if the kids who care less would care less somewhere else.

I would ask them what the long term benefits would be if they dropped out. If they want to live with/rely on other people or if they wanted to be successful and make something of themselves. I would also mention that life isn't meant to be a breeze, and sometimes you have to work through hard stuff in order to achieve something in the long run.

I would stop a dropout by showing him/her the worst possible outcomes if they drop out, give them the data and make sure he/she sees the outcome, then show him/her the outcome if they finish school, the data, and then show them what will probably happen if they move on to a higher education after high school.
and throughout the time reinforcing the idea of they can do it they just need to add a little more efforts

everybody decides what they want to do with their life's, nobody can stop someone from doing something they want to do. If students want to drop out they can do it but their the ones who are gonna suffer later on they'll realize that in life you gotta work hard. if they prefer to work instead of studying sooner or later their going to realize that they dont want to be working in factories, gas stations etc their whole life. either they work their whole life of keep studying to be someone in life later on in the future. everybody has their own way of thinking and looking at things. maybe what they could do is either they work or study they should pick between both.

If i could tell someone that was going to drop out of school that it is not worth it because if you drop out of high school you cant get into a college, and that they wont have the job that they want to have. They wouldn't be able to have a good paying job they would be making 7.25 and hour. I don't think people should drop out of school because it is not worth it.

High school dropouts aren't mentally challenged, too busy, or incapable of finishing work. They are typical students, living a teenage life. Seeing a 16 or 17-year-old dropout only concludes that they are lazy. They don't WANT to work for anything, or get anywhere in life. They have no idea what they're missing out on, but they don't care. It's really unfortunate to see this occur. Perhaps they had a bad childhood: maybe they were neglected, and are using "dropping out" as a cry for some attention, maybe even some help. If any person were threatening to drop out of high school for the sake of gaining control in their life, I think there are many alternatives to grasping life and TO ITS FULLEST. Join a sport, a club, make it easier to get ahold of a tutor; there's a lot more a struggling student can do instead of dropping out. Their lives are never going to be the same with a choice like that.

If someone was going to drop out and I was told about it, I would confront the person and tell them that dropping out isn't the answer, you should stay in school. Staying in school is your best option because if you drop out you are basically limiting your future and if you stay in school your future is open to just about anything you want to do. If you have a reason to drop out of school think about that reason and then think about your future, is the reason for dropping out worth you losing your future and losing your options.
September 18, 2009 at 1:36 pm |

If I were to try and help someone not drop out, I’d probably try and convince them to try and not do things that satisfy you now, look ahead to the future and see what you want to be/do, and make choices that will help you reach that goal. Dropping out of school is probably the stupidest thing a teenager could do.

I think that in order to stop a drop out the student must be motivated to go to school, I mean if the student had no friends, and was depressed why would they want to finish education, I think that there should be councelling for the truobled students, and some sort of promise at the end something they would look forward too, if they through school.

if i knew someone who was going to drop out i would tell them it would be a waste. this whole time they went to school for nothing and they are almost done with school so why stop now. also what about thier futer what are they going to do without a high school diploma. none would really hire them with out an education and everyone needs an education.

By dropping out and ruining you education, you are actually damaging your future. Without an education, finding a good job to support you and your familly is very unlikley. By pairing up with this person on a project or hanging out with them at school can make them enjoy school a little more.
September 22, 2009 at 4:18 pm |

I think that we need to stop drop outs. I think that they should make it ellegal to drop out before your senior year. That would decrease the drop out rate. I think that we need to encourage teens to stay in schools. And we should show teens the consequences that dropping out has. We have to let teens know that they also have other options, such as night school. We can also try to make school a little easier. Like for example, more clubs & activities. I think that would significantly decrease the drop out rate.

my only saying would be.. do you REALLY want to ruin your life? no education..?! no degree!? well.. suit yourself.

I feel you can't stop no one from dropping out. They done already made up their mind and they mindset is focused on that one thing. What I would say to a person that want to dropout is think before you act. Once its done you can't reverse it. Dropping out isn't really worth it no matter what you are going through because trouble don't last always however if that's your choice so be it however think about what your doing before it's done.

what i would say to the people that were dropping out it would be that i think those people are giving up there lives and throwing away everything. what if later opn in life they wanted to get married and start a family and for both of those things you need money and money dont just fall out of the sky!!!!!!! just remeber that if you want to be a drop out your not only hurting your life but others aswell.......

I think we can stop students drop out by connecting with the students who drop out.The schools should make special classes for those who want to drop or get bad grades.Possibly try to make classes more fun, like projects during class.
Take a study break and find out what's filling the notebook of CNN Student News anchor Carl Azuz. We love your comments. Remember, keep them on topic and only use your first name.
I would get the students into after school programs or even a sport. Talking to them one on one might help too. There pairents should get involed to help there kids to stay in school...
Think about the future. Don't go for the populuar group. Stay cometided to your work
I've watched my uncle who didn't finish his education waste away over the last 10 years.
I would tell them studies show that high school graduates are more likely to earn job than high school dropouts.
A potential high school drop out especially in the Freshman or Sophomore years, I would send them to boarding schools. Boarding schools have a lot of student groups and students are expected to be involved.
If I had the chance to stop someone from dropping out of school I would say that this is your one chance to to get a diploma and after that a job. So why drop ouy when in the futcher you could make a diffrence.
sometimes people make choiseslike that because eather they had to help there family or they think that they don't need school and can get a job eather way.
"Nothing kills spirit more than poverty."
People that drop out of school are usually upset with a teacher or mad about something. In their mind, the easiest thing they could do is to just quit. I think that teachers and student should make sure that everybody is happy at the school they are going to.
I would tell someone what they are risking by dropping out and I would help them get over what is causing them to want to drop out, whether it's a teacher or another student.
Talk to your teachers and get to know them on a personal level, after doing that the teachers would understand you better and then could help you and you would not want to drop-out
Create a law that students cannot dropout without parents permission. Dropping out should never be up to the student!
i would tell them that they couln't get a job if they didn't get their high scool diploma
Create a law that students can not drop out without parents permission. Dropping out should never be left up to the student.
I would develop a program that would reward you for every year that you pass so then that way kids would be motivated to do good in school
I would switch all schedules to block classes and give the students an option of their classes they attend. That way they are taking classes they want to take verses classes they don't.
We think that if they make 6th grade more fun, and maybe if they are having hard work, they should have easier work. They don't need to drop out of school.....I don't even know why they are dropping out, maybe they just want to hangout and play video games.
I would stop a dropout by talking to the students and finding out if there is a bigger picture to why they are not doing so well in school. Then try to resolve that issue.
WOW! that's a lot of people! People in high school think they can make it on their own, but their wrong. I think they should they should make schools a little more hands on.
Jordan and I believe that employers should not be able to employ students who have quit high school.President Barack Obama should pass a law to make it so that employers cant keep high school students who have quit school, working .
I think that at most, all you could do is take them around your stats capita and show them the "hobo's" and "bums" and tell them that if you do not finish school that this is what you would most likely become one of those "hobo's and bums".
Schools should make the learning experience both educational, and exciting for all students.
We think they can help the dropout rate by making school more fun, by using more technology. And possibly giving the students money when they graduate. They could also help it by making it illegal for employers to hire people under the age of 18. That is our opinions on how they could help the dropout rate.
I would stop a dropout by making classes more fun. And why would you drop out? Because you'd be working at Taco bells or McDonald's.Oh by the way we love your jokes! P.S. who writes your jokes?
Stopping dropouts is a hard problem to fix. Here are some ideas to fix that problem. We could ask them if they are having problems at home,or they could have career day so they could see how many jobs they could have and how many options they would have.
I think high schools need to offer a choice of classes and more flexible class times to prevent students from dropping out.
Hailey says : I think that high school kids have a choice to drop out if they want to. But they will pay for it because they won't get a good job which means that won't be able to support themselves or their family.
Maegan says: I think that middle and high school student who drop out and don't like school shoud go to a private school. If they want money they should do work for others in need
Our ideas to prevent school dropout:
1. Understand those who don't have a home or an education.
2. Create an after school program that is safe and helpful for students.
3. Educate students so that they know the consequences of dropping out. For example, explain that their dreams for the future may require a HS education.
4. 😀
I would say if you drop out now then what kind of job will you get in the future. Without your education you are probably not going to get a good paying job.
Although there are many reasons why studnets stop or dropout the school, I think ,as one student studying aboad, a sense of isolation can be one of reason for this. Fortunately, this case can be solved easily. Small kindness like warm greeting, smiling, small helping are all the solutions. These can be hope to students who are isolated in school and keep the students from drop out.
id tell them dont drop out of school
Don't drop out, the outcome isn't worth it!! If your already in high school just finish it out.
Make school fun and easier. Alot of people give up because its to difficult for them or its just not fun. Making school easier and more fun would most likely keep the students from dropping out.
I would let them know that it’s dumb to fail at the only real Goal you’ve had since you were in preschool to graduate that was your parents goal for you and it should be everyone’s so why fail when you’re so close
To stop someone from dropping out I would tell them don’t do it because if you drop out in high school then you have the same credentials for a job as if you dropped out in 1st grade.
Id tell to really think about what they're about to do, and that finishing their school career will help them out so much more then quiting.
i would tell them not to
Everybody has a future ahead of them, and there is always something for each person to accomplish in the world.
I would try to inspire that person tell them about what kind of dream they would have when there older.
Hire younger teachers that can relate to the students and can communicate with them about the technological changes in society.
More clubs that relate to the students interests, i.e.: Going Green Club, Wakeboarding Club, Video Game Clubs, Skateboard Club, etc.
Clubs to raise money for school supplies and work with community businesses to sponsor students.
If my friend wanted to drop oyut of high school i would try to talk to them and say "Dont throw it away, you came this far it is dumb for you to just throw it away now."
I would try to convince the student to stay in school
The way I would stop a dropout is I’d talk to them and give them the pros and cons about dropping out and try and convince them to finish school.
I would say to him/her that it's not worth ruining the rest of your life over. Just go to school deal with it and get it done. It is worth the chance. Dont waste your life, many people dont have the opportunites that we do, take advantage.
I would tell them to finish it up, why go all this way to just drop out? School can affect your whole future, and dropping out now might seem like a good idea but later you will regret it.
I would tell a potential dropout that staying in school may not seem important now and that things may seem overwhelming but in the end a high school diploma will open doors and can help one achieve their dreams.
To keep someone from dropping out I would tell them of the importance of their education. I would also show them the statistics of their income from their decision to drop out. If I do one thing, I would take the dropouts to the slums and show them what their decisions could cause them.
I would tell people that education is a vital component for your future. It affects your life more than you realize now. It wouldn't hurt to have an inspiring person that minors look up to to tell us how important education is.
i would get them into a school sport and than they will meet friend and than they can teach them how do stuuf and than they will getpassing rades and than they will not be a high school dropout and they will be a good person and get a better jod or a carrer
I think we should tell them all to stay in school otherwise they are going to be living with their parents for the rest of their lives and nobody wants that
I would tell them that by staying in school they could have a very bright future. And if i could do one thing it would give them incentive by telling them that once they graduate high school they could get money that goes in a college fund. i know that it may not be very realistic...but they probably would stay in school.
what are you going to do with your life? How are you going to support yourself? If I were you I would graduate, but that is just me.
we Should pay A or b students to get good grades and stay in school.
some schools do
by explaining to them its cool to be in school
I would talk to the person who was planning on dropping out. Sometimes all a person needs is someone to talk to and I would be more than happy to be that person. I would give them advice and tell them about how much they will lose if they drop out.
When someone wants to drop out of school, I would encourage them to at least give the school another chance. They need to finish high school so that they will have a bright future.
I think that when people choose to drop out of school that it is their own personal decision. They chose to drop out so they can live with the consequences and struggle through life.
I think if a student is about to drop out, someone needs to go and talk to them. All they may need is a helping hand and a shoulder to lean on, and if you give them the attention, then maybe that person will feel more important and choose to stay in school.
I think that if a student wants to drop out it is their choice. Each person needs to make their own decisions. if they do drop out then it is their loss and life should just move on.
I would encourage them not to drop out because they need to think of what it is going to do to their future.
Teach kids stuff that is necessary to learn. Make it important. Don't play childish games and try to make things fun. Actually teach them. Cause believe it or not, some people do like to learn. And get schools to actually not be so bad. Americas schools are horrible.
It's all worth it in the end. Why not set yourself up for success while you can?
school is too easy to drop out of...
I would try my best to persuade a high school student to at least finish high school. I would tell them to get through these four years and maybe not go to college. Have a friend help them, or get tutored, but surely finish high school to get their diploma.
Its not worth dropping out of school, it endangers you future. The schooling you get in highschool is a big factor in life. If i could do something to help against the high rate of drop outs i would try to find the root of the major problem and address it, in example if its struggling with a class, get the student a tutor.
Well I would just lay it all out on the line and tell them that they are making a mistake and potentially ruining their future. If they really have a problem with school i could offer my help to tudor them or find them online help but honestly the choice is up to them and i can only sway their opinion so much.
I feel the besy way to stop a drop out is to be there for the student and help them through it.
I'd tell someone exactly that.
face your fear and stay focus in your study. Never drop out or you will regret what you have done.
Well the thing is that I have been working for my parents landscaping business for a long time and my parents are emigrates from Italy, and I especially know that staying in school and getting a better education is very important. My parents tell me to stay in school go to college for they never went to college, and to get a better job. So stay in school.
i think that you need to give them time to think on what they want to do beacause it is there choice and we cant make that decision for them but we can help
To stop A dropout I would reccomend some good clubs more hands-on activities for students so that they can have a good future 20-50 years from now, having an excellent career and retirement plan.
And do? I'd try as hard as I can to convince them and give expamples of what happens to dropouts and then sucessfull people, and if that doesn't work I can just get them to talk to someone else.
they sould get more feild trip
My friend JUST dropped out tuesday because of absents he had for his first hour, they swiped his credits all out and he would've had to do 3 more years after this one and he's a junior so it'd be like he was a freshman taking junior classes and so he dropped school to get his GED instead. I didn't really know what to say since I've been home-schooled all my life and don't know what public school is like, but i DID say that I'm totally here for him and i know he's still going to get his GED and do amazing things.
I would just tell them to believe in themselves, that not every dropout becomes a Michael Dell. Education is the number 1 priority to sucess. Dropouts can't get good jobs that pay them good money. Just believe in yourself.
I would make it so there is a lot more after school activities that we could do.
Encourage people to stay in highschool and show them if you stay in highschool what carrers you could take
I would tell them if you drop out of school you're dropping out on your life
I would make sure they new how important that is to getting a job and to know that stuff. You can't get a good job if you dropout
I'd tell them to look around and see all the people that did drop out. To see how a lot of them don't have jobs or even decent clothes on there backs. I'd try and get him/her to do an after school activity so they'd stay active and look forward to doing something after school. Which would hopefully encourage them to stay in school!
Maybe to encourage kids not to drop out, maybe make more tutoring services at schools. And, you COULD try to make doing classwork and homework and all that more fun.
I would just like tell them that their whole life is riding on this one what seems like a little thing but is a huge problem if they don't make the right desision.
I would say " If you drop out of high school you are throwing away your life". High school is one of the most important things to do in your life.
Thank You
Make it a law that students must finish what they start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if you stay i will help u. thats what i would say
Carl, we think the government should make a law that students should have to finish collage or anything they participating in for that matter
Show them what they could be in the future if they graduated high school and college. Then show them what would happen to them if they flunked right now.
Get them invovled in sports or something so they feel more involved and get some new friends that won't dropout so that they would keep going.
I would stop it by maybe having an after school tutoring to help people with their school work to make sure they graduate from highschool with a good grade. I would also help them find a good college and make sure that they can pay the tuition.
By brings new learning programs. just like the health care issue the education issue should be changed
i think they should have more pe and then people will stay in school and have more help at home
i think they should have more p.e. and more help at home
I would stop dropuot by giving th kids a little more freedom, and to give thie kids a class on think about droping out oh highschool.
I would say "You know your more likely to be unemployed in the future when you drop out of school you know that, right?"
i would stop a dropout by saying that if you dropped out think about what could happen. You would never get e good job or a good house.
tell them to never give up no matter what they are faceing
To stop high school students from dropping out would be really tough but I think most kids that dropout don't have enocouaging parents to help them keep up with thier school work. Thats why teachers should help to fill in this missing piece.
I think that a student should choose if they want to continue school. Some kids just don't like school so why force them to finish?
To stop dropout rates from being so high I would make classes more interesting to be in. Some things that you learn can be pretty dull but if you change them to be more interactive students might find them more exciting so they would want to stay in school.
well, carl, there aren't many things stopping a dropout from dropping out. not to say there isn't hope, but really, what choice do most of them have? their friends can say not to, give them statistics and examples, but really, whats preventing it?
Kids may think it would be awesome to get to stay home all day without the responsibilities of school, but what they don't know is how it will effect their future. It should be our duty to educate them about the severe conciquences of dropping out of school.
Presents for everybody at the end of the year!!!
Just kidding... 🙂
i would get the kid interested in school, focus on the things they like and interprate that into the teaching stradegy.
i would stop drop outs by making it a law to not be able to drop outs kids could play basketball and play in the NBA and get a good scholarship.
I would Give them an award of some sort, like if they stay in school for half a year and get a b average they should get $10 in an account that they can spend on any thing that the school sells, like shirts, drivers ed, water, food, ex. and so on and so forth.
I would say, "Think how horrible your life will be. this may be hard now, but it's going to get a lot harder, and WE ARE the one generation who can get this right. Don't give up."
why do people drop out i mean you need to be smart unless you need to... no its still not right... huh never mind
I would try to have parents to tuitor there chidren after school and to make it more interesting they could have friends over. A nother way is for the parents to check over there work and help them with the problems they dont understand.
I think if people should find something the kid likes and maybe they won't dropout!!
school dropout is not a good choice because you throw a way all are work away.
I think there should be a club specifically for unmotivated kids with motivated kids running it. They could do school plays or just demonstrate by acting, drawing, or writing the consequences of what happens if you drop out of school. They could take trips to places they would want to work and places they would not want to work, but might have to if they dropped out.
I know that kids dropping out is a really important topic, but
how about what happened on 9/11?
I would not stop them because they are just going to mess up their lives and they will never get anywhere in life so let them be.
I would give them a good reason to what to attend school and tell them where they are going in life in a positive way.
That way, they will feel that they are still eligible to learn in schools.
i would show them what their life would be like if they dropped out and how bad it would be
I would say "You're throwing you life right down the drain. Once you've made the decission, you can't go back."
make high school adapt to the students not the other way around.
i would try to make people realize that it is important to stay in school and show them how far you can get
Why didn't CNN interview the students who dropped out to see why they dropped out? And then use these reasons to think up of solutions to help the younger kids who are in high school to prevent droppouts. Asking the students who are already focused doesn't really help, because they might not understand the situation the droppouts were going through, or the circumstances the students who are going to drop out are going through.
The schools should do that too, not just CNN...
I would have a video or a "life" game to show the kids how their future will be without a good education. Or just talk to the parents to get them to talk to their kids about them having a good education because some kids don't take this completly seriosly.
i think personally that if i were on the board or a teacher, i would show the student the consequences of student drop-out... show them that they will most likely not succeed without a good eduction. then, show them the cons of staying in school. i know that your whole life should not revolve around money, but let them know that there is a very high possibility that if they stay in school with a good education they will most likely be a success and possibly make a very good income... but that is only if they try!
~Morgana
I would say get tutored.
I would tell them that i would help them if they were in need of some studying i tell them to try there hard to stay in school and i would try to be a good friend.
i'd like to state a comment ;about the president talking to us about school the parents need to calm down about when the presdent talked about not droping out
come on parents stop complaning about healthcare its your fault you didn't stay in school and they would have provided a job when u finished college and u would have been able to get and provide healthcare for your children.
i would make learning more interesting then maybe students wouldnt drop out of school
The teachers should give more students advice about what you can do if you don't drop out,
i think there should be a program to teach student what would happen if they dropout of school and make them realize the consequences of dropping-out. Education is important to succeed in the future. So don't dropout!!!!!
I would have the students make study groups to help each other with homework and to make friends so they want to stay in school.
Make school easier. Make learning and teaching fun. Like making songs on subjects your studying so its easier to remember when it comes test time!
Make school more interesting- more field trips, experiments and more fun!
I would have students doing more hands on projects instead of reading out of a textbook. I think that would keep kids more interested.
If I already were friends with the student, I would join a club and encourage the student to join one too, one that includes a hobby of his/hers.
i think that if the students have something that motivates them to stay with it that will help
I would show the kid examples of what happened to other drop-out's futures, but I cannot stop the kid from dropping out because its their decision, not mine.
To stop high school drop out rates I would make it so that there would be a place for kids to take college classes free of charge, and make it so that it would be a federal law that you would have to take at least to college courses. That way kids couldn't drop out, because it would be a law.
I would say "Don't give up" and try to help and encourage the student to stay in school.
I think to stop a dropout you would show him/her what she could end up like by taking them to a homeless shelter or something to show them the error in their ways.
To stop a drop out you need to keep the student iterested.make school more enjoyable
That girl should stay away becuase the islams have a history of violence when switching religions. so if i were i her would stay in florida.
she sould sould do what she want s to do. it is her own life even at 17
I would tell them you shouldn't drop out of school. they will get in trouble
We can pay them to come to school because i know they want drop out if they are getting paid to go to school and we should make it a law to finish school
what you do now will affect you for the rest of your life and show them what it has done to other people
I just have six words. DONT DROPOUT!!! IT IS BAD!!!!!!!!!
I would reward them for what they do and make it fun because when I go to school and it was boring and got nothing but learning out of it and not a little fun. I don't want to get out of bed and go to school because theres nothing to look forward to. Make it something to look forward to like mabey playing a fun game to go with it. Then mabey show then a video of what your choices are if you stay and what your choices are if you drop out.
i would try to help them by letting them talk to us about what is going on. for enxample i'm a link leader and i help freshmen stay in school.
the one thing that this is that everyone thinks school is boring so there dropping out.So what i would do is make school more fun
I think it should be a law to finish school. It is the most important tool you'll ever have. NOTHING overrules an education.
I would tell someone who was planning on droping out that if they did it would be throwing their life away. Not many people succeed in the world without a high school diploma.
If they think it's for their own good, there's really no use in stopping them. Unless a person's willing to change themselves first, you can't do anything to change them.
i would tell them to think about where that would get them, and where they would be in the future.also i would point out to them that dropping out of highschool now a days wouldnt get them any where, because to get any good paying job you have to have an education. nd if they want to have a family they cant depend on minimum wage, its impossible. another thing i would point out is that it doesnt seem like its a big deal now, but it will hurt her in the future.
I beleive we should tell them its wroth it and the job it will get them some day is wroth it.
What i would do to tell someone to stop dropping out is i would say you are quiting on your self and you have no idea what to expect later. I would also tell him that you are thinking of stopping your education and there is no way back it on your permeant reecord forever. i would end talking to them saying you might think your education now is stupid but in the future it will effect your life forever.
i would just encourage the guy who is dropping out i would encourage the guy to not to drop out
I would say why are you risking your whole life to drop out. You have a whole life ahead of you. Without school you can't get a successful job that gives you a good pay to live and eat.
Each student should be able to choose or have access to a tutor.
i think there should be a class were its puts you in the reall world for a week and show them how much harder it is to get a job or even be successful with out getting your high school diploma.
-JOSH-
let them drop out who cares if they do if they want to screw up their lives let them. people who drop out will just become a loser in society and have to work at McDonald's for the rest of their lives who cares somebody needs to feed Americas obesity problems and they are just the people to do it. -JOSH-!
I would show them the cold, hard facts and how stupid they were being!
My opinion on the suject of dropping out is you should stay in school because it will Pay off in the long run.
Kanye west got guts.
I would tell them that it is good to stay in school and will be help you to go farther in life.
🙂 i mean , whywhywhy?
I would have clubs. let teachers know on what kids need extra help. Have study groups. Get involved.
Why would PEOPLE DROP OUT SCHOOL !!!!! People should NOT drop out of school because school gives YOU an opportunity to got a JOB after you graduate.
Okay, I would first ask him or her what's the use of dropping out? If you drop out of school, it can lead you to lots of bad things! It's not cool dropping out of school for no reason so what's the reason? You would have no future. You would also have the worst job ever and get little pay. Don't drop out! It's no use!
Make school more exciting, then kids might actually want to come. More activities less sitting around, treat students with more respect and not like little kids.
Don't do it.
I'd give the students free stuff like a laptop or desk top computer. I would get sponsors and do fundraisers for this.
I would tell them thats not a smart choice, and that theres a better of being hired with a diploma then with a GED or nothing.
I grew up in the city and I don't want to be like everybody else. That's why I'm staying in school.
I would help kids not drop out and show them what good things will happen if they don't drop out.(Give them a little bit of money, like 40$ to reward them for making the good choice to stay in school.
I would stop a dropout by not only having available tutors but someone that may be able to motivate them as well. The reason they may be dropping out is because they are not getting enough motivation as they need at home.
When you know better, you do better.
I think they should not drop out .they should keep on learning because if they want a good job they need to go to school.
i would stop it by not droping out and i would tell as much people as i can to not drop and tell them what it would do to you
I'd tell them....school important...what kinda life are u gonna have if u dont go to school...wanna live on the streets...wanna be a low life without no moey....school helps sumone future....even though its hard and stuff....later it ill all have a great impact on ur life
I would tell that person to do something to make learning more fun also if you drop out you wont get a good job or get good education.
I would tell that person to do something to make learning more fun, also if you drop out would not get a good job or good education
I would give them real life examples as to what they can do by just getting their diploma. Many dropouts realize way to late what they could've done with their lives.
What I mean is this: If there were one thing you could say to keep someone from dropping out, what would it be? If there were one thing you could do, what would it be?
I would stop a dropout by making class fun. I would let them play learning games, have friendly competions to see who knows most, or I would take them on field trips.
I would stop a dropout by telling people that they would ruin their lives by droping out. It is true though, they woudn't get a good job.
In order to stop a dropout, we would need to create clubs and keep them in sports so that way they can make new friends and stay in school..
I would create more places for people to make friends and to to things they like to give them a reason to stay in school.
I think it was extremely rude of Kanye to take the microphone from Taylor Swiift. She is only a teenager and she did not deserve what Kanye said.Kanye can have his opinion but he needs to keep it to himself. That was very wrong of him.
Simple, tell them bout the consequences... that oughta work.
I would make the school education more fun for all to enjoy. Also there would be some type of reward once you graduate. School is important in life so we all need it to be succesful.
Your mother wouldn't want you to do this.
What would your mother think about this????
She would disown you...
Guilt always works.
I would say.... "Come on think about what you r really doing. One day your going to want to be with somebody, well theyre probably not gonna want to be with someone who will work at mcdonalds, and if your 16 and dating somebody in highschool still when you drop out, you cant go to school dances with them... well at my school you cant"
You should not quit school because high school helps you get a good job. You can get a good education and move forward with your life. It gives you a better future for tomorrow. It's cool. If you stay in school you would not get yourself into trouble.
I Dont think That Anybody Shoud Be Able To drop out of School. It should Be A Law
Nobody Should Be Alowed To drop out of school even if its not very fun.
I think that if you dropout in high school and college you would have a bad job and you will not be smarter and not have a good education.
Take the kid out of any extra curricular activities until he/her gets his act together. Study his/her habits and correct them.
If students want to drop out they can do it but their the ones who are gonna suffer later on they'll realize that in life you gotta work hard. if they prefer to work instead of studying sooner or later their going to realize that they dont want to be working in factories, gas stations etc their whole life. either they work their whole life of keep studying to be someone in life later on in the future. everybody has their own way of thinking and looking at things. maybe what they could do is either they work or study they should pick between both.
stay in school!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 that way it will be easier on you to find a job and provide for yourself!!!!!:)
Let them have more felid trips!
Personally, I think that we should make a group/ association to help these people. They could all talk about why they want to drop out, and the group could all discuss it and think of solutions to these problems, etc.
if i knew someone who was going to drop out i would tell them it would be a waste. this whole time they went to school for nothing and they are almost done with school so why stop now. also what about thier futer what are they going to do without a high school diploma. none would really hire them with out an education and everyone needs an education.
I think dropping out isn't good for your career and life. If you dropout you wont get a good job and salary. You will have a job like a lawnmower or a person who pumps gas at a gas station.
I think that people should not drop out of school because then your not going to have the job you want and then your going to wish you didn't drop out of school.
You should make it so they dont wanna drop out.Let them have more field trips, have some activities.Dont drop out of school
I think many students can study but they may have problems in life. That is why students drop out ,or maybe they have some problems with the school, but it is not an excuse . I don't have the ex@ct answer why the students drop out..>>>>>>>>>>
By dropping out and ruining you education, you are actually damaging your future. Without an education, finding a good job to support you and your familly is very unlikley. By pairing up with this person on a project or hanging out with them at school can make them enjoy school a little more.
I think that would significantly decrease the drop out rate.
my only saying would be.. do you REALLY want to ruin your life? no education..?! no degree!? well.. suit yourself.
its up to them to choose. but i would never do it. never
I would say to them you will be so much in trouble. I will tell them a good reason why they shouldn't drop out of school.
I would if they want to they can because i'm their friend not their parent. I can't tell them what to do and what not to do, but I would encourage them to stay in school.
PLEASE DO NOT DROP OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL..I am a fifty year old mother and grandmother who was a HS dropout in my jr year..let me tell you how hard and embarrassing it can be as you get older and meet new people, that you least expect, my inlaws especially mother inlaw, hated that er son married a HS dropout, so you never know..not to mention no jobs especially now with the economy the way it is..both of my children graduated HS my daughter is a college grad, my son is still deciding what he wants to do..BUT I got my GED and am now working my way into the nursing program.. i still hate not being able to go to home coming, prom, graduation etc..thank god my children didnt get those genes..please dont do it...thank you and good luck
what i would say to the people that were dropping out it would be that i think those people are giving up there lives and throwing away everything. what if later opn in life they wanted to get married and start a family and for both of those things you need money and money dont just fall out of the sky!!!!!!! just remeber that if you want to be a drop out your not only hurting your life but others aswell.......
I would try to tell them how it will effect there lives if they drop out. And if they still do it anyway they will notice what will happen.
I( would say not to drop out because he/she wont get a good job and if he/she wants to have a family he/she will have a hard time.
just think what are you going to do all day every day, jobs areint going to take drop outs.
I think we can stop students drop out by connecting with the students who drop out.The schools should make special classes for those who want to drop or get bad grades.Possibly try to make classes more fun, like projects during class.
