One Ugly Cat
Our producer's mother has a heart as big as a house. She'd take one look at what I'd call the ugliest cat still alive, and she'd adopt it in a heartbeat.
I don't think I could do it. Don't get me wrong; I'm all for adopting animals that aren't the prettiest (we had a chihuahua). But after you see the creature in Monday's show, you'll wonder why the camera lens didn't crack.
So the big debate: Could you take "Ugly" home? Would you hold it, feed it and show it to your friends?
...Or would you take one look at the thing and run away screaming?

Well, i would say animals have feelings too. So i would take home and treat it as if it were any other cat. I mean seriously, its not like you need a pretty cat. A cats a cat. I think its wrong to name a cat the ugliest. Its like putting all the people in the world putting them together and saying whose the ugliest person in the world, and what if that person just so happen to be you?
I would take in the cat and just treat it as the cat weren't any different.
I love animals, but some animals really freak me out. I wouldn't want to wake up to a hairless "ugly" cat staring straight back at me!
That was so funny you looked at the cat and screamed but why did you say the cat is ugly? Some people think it's cute. I think it is not ugly. What is the difference!

I think that cat is absolutely beautiful! It is so exotic, but a cat like that probably wouldn't eat your run-of-the-mill cat food either...

I was really surprised at the first scene where the camera was only showing the cat's eyes. I mean it looks like a dragon's eye that appears in legends... This bizzare cat might have potentials that we don't know of... Maybe the cat's saliva might be used to make medicine to cure a uncurable diease? I would rather sell this cat to another person who is interested in raising this cat. (Althogh there will be nobody who will want this cat... )
When you showed me the cat's eyes Carl, I thought it was ailens from Star Wars 2 who made the Clones. Their eyes have a distinct familiarity...... It gave me a memoire of those days when I used video to watch a movie...now I'm in love with DVDs...
About keeping the creature;Well.After I saw its body and it's entire face I stoped the player and went to see another Student News in the web...
It doesn't LOOK like an ailen...it IS an ailen...
and another thing before I do my homework...when MY mom wants to keep that THING in our house I'll call the Congress and make that cat ilegal.
I would adopt the cat because I believe that all animals deserve a home. It shouldnt matter if the cat is ugly. Its still a living creature and it needs love and care. 🙂
I don't think he's ugly. I'd take him in. I love animals.
I would be able to take ugly home if i felt something special was about him to me.Just because some animals are ugly doesn't mean we should discriminate against them like human beings.

My opinion is that I would adopt the ugliest pet or animal because it would be cool to have and no one else in the world would have your pet. Beside everyone would freak out the first time but after that they would get use to it if not show up on their doorstep and scare them by showing them the animai again or adopt one for them and see what they would do

No, I couldn't take that cat because it has no hair. No because its ugly, its because that really isn't a cat... Its a ground-mole. Im sure thats a good cat, and if it was going to die then I would probably take it. But other than that I would leave it alone.
awww Poor ugly. Its not its fault its not one of the cuter ones. I would take him home and keep him. Its not all about looks, maybe its a really nice cat.
If I had the choice to take ugly home then I would because no such animal in the world is ugly. But yeah. ugly isn't ugly is just a cat that was born that way. AN d if nobody want her/him I be glad to take her/him but got to talk with my parents first.

Carl the cat is so cute i wish i had a cat named Ugly an but the name does not mach the cuteness of the cat. I wish i had a cat like that one many people may say that it is not cute but we all know they are mad because they don't look that cute.
I don't think I would adopt that cat. I wouldn't run away from the cat screaming. But i don't know if I would adopt it, it just depends on if it is a really nice cat.
I would not take Ugly home with me. There is a lot of people that would though, so I donʻt feel sorry for him, or her, or whatever it is. It just does not is to messed up for me to have to take care of.
Thank you for the segment on North Dakota. We are from Berthold, ND and are prospering. We love our state and we are proud to be one of the 4 states that is not in a recession! Snow sales are at an all-time high! (approx. 4-5 feet on the ground).
heyy Carl i would just like to say i think that cat is of a different breed because when i first saw it no offense i thouhgt it was a hippo and when i saw its body...WHOA i kinda got scared because that was not a cats body..sorry to the owner...but i just got one question..what do you feed that thing?? well anyways its pretty cool actually:)
Ha ha i would actually take it home. So then later i would give it to my friend Jon for his birthday as a prank present. From there on, it will be his problem not mine.

I wouldn't run away screaming, but i would watch it for a while to make sure it's personality was good. Once i had befriended it, i would've adopted it as well. Everyone needs a home and to be loved, and shouldn't be judged on what they looked like.

Sure! Why not ? It's a cat yeahhhhhh.....But I guess Im a little biased since I cant have animals(except for a fish and fish dont watch movies with you while you stroke their fur) so I'd probably adopt any animal in a heartbeat....IF i was allowed.....

That cat is really special. Its unique in how it looks. I wonder how many there are around the world just like it. We wish we had a cat like that to bring in for show & tell. Its really not THAT ugly if you look at it......jk

I think the cat is cute but the name they have for it doesnt match it. I'm glad that the vet office where the cat is will be taking care of it.

Carl this is Mario from Mr. Jimenez's class and we have a question about your podcast today. During the segment about Fargo one of my classmates swears that he saw a lion in the snow. We had and argument during our class and were wondering if you could clear things up for us.

Never mind how ugly this cat is, what is going on in this country. People can spend $50 a week on their pets and then complain about not having enough money to feed there family. The people in the main stream media are just feeding the fire by airing all of these stories about the pets that have been left behind. Come on people get your priorities straight, pets are not human and they will never be worth as much as a human.
I'm not a cat person, and in theory I wouldn't dare get anywhere near that thing! But if I had the oppertunity I would probably take it in anyway.
I would be more likely to adopt Ugly, because I am allergic to fur, and this cat actually does not have that much fur. I have a Chinese Crested dog (which is furless, the little hair that is has is like human hair) that most people consider ugly, so I guess I am used to having a pet that people consider ugly. I would adopt Ugly, it would be a cat that I can have.
Okay so the cat isn't the best thing to look at but i would give it a proper home instead of leaving it out on the streets like many people would do. It's sad to think people would turn a away an animal just because it looks abnormal when people do that with people. Is our society really becoming that bad?

At first when I saw the cats eyes I thought it was a new kind of exotic species that we had never heard of. Although the cat is very different than most others, I would still take it home. Cats are a nice pet to have. It shouldnt matter what they look like you should still treat them like any other cat. If this is truly the only cat of its time they should run test and see how this cat came to be.
All of my students were like. Wow that is one weird and ugly cat! So most of them said that I said that to!

Well, not everything is about looks. I would take the cat, but unfortunently, I don't like animals... If everything was about looks, you would say that alot of people would commit suicide or at least never show there face in public again if they don't have the "look." And right now, people are so caught up in there looks that they cry in the morning about a pair of jeans. But the true beauty is in your heart, even for an ugly cat.

I think it is bad for people to control mother nature and create animals that aren't meant to be. I think it is fine to leave things the way they are because if mother nature wanted a hairless cat then that cat would have been created already.
Wow! I feel really bad for that cat even though I' m sure it has a great home. I've never seen something so ugly but harmless. When I first saw it, I was trying to figure out what in the world it was! At first I thought it was like some kind of new species of an animal out in the middle of nowhere! I heard a lot more "We are kicking off the month of March here at CNN Student News"s to see Ugly again. I "accadentally" exited the tab with the show on it. I am a cat lover. But I would not take home that cat!
First of all I'm shure that there are TONS more Normal cats at your local animal shelter. And besides, You'd have to keep it inside at all times so that no one call the cops on it. And You can't bring it anywhere because people might get scared and run away screaming.
I think the question is... would you take it home Carl?or run away screaming?

well at first when i first saw this video i thought that the cat was adorable and what other people are saying about it is real mean and if i could i would surely take in that cat and treat as if it was a normal cat 🙂
i think he is actually really cute. he looks pretty much like any other cat just with more wrinkles and no fur. i would definetly take him and let him live a normal life. i feel bad for him and i dont think animals should be labled like that. thats just my opinion.

Oh my gosh!!! The cat (Ugly) was like soooooo ugly. I bet if an animal passed by it would die just by looking at that creepy cat!!! It's soooooo ugly that I could've passed out just by looking at that "thing". Well, it's too big to be a cat anyways so why not do something with it instead of showing it to people. I'm telling you, that cat is just HORRIBLE!!!
It's funny how this poor cat is getting so much publicity. It's not Ugly's fault he was born different. I'm not much of a cat person, but I wouldn't mind having it around my house. It would be a good way to scare away people I don't want around. But it would take some getting used to...

I wouldn't care how ugly the animal was all it matters is that it has a life. I think the cat is cute. It's not funny when people make fun of it because think if you were the animal, you would always here, "your such an ugly cat." "ew!' and thats not fair for the cat. Some animals are put to sleep when there not adopted after a long time or if something is wrong with them. I would adopt an animal no matter how ugly it was. 🙂

Well, I think the cat is ugly but if he/she calm, I can have her/him. However, my house is not big to the cat plays.

I think the cat is so cool. So many people want their pets to look just like the pictures they see the breed should look like and that isn't a bad thing it is just they animal goes through so much grooming and dressing and all kinds of other crap. With all that grooming and once the animal looks nice they better say goodbye to playing outside cuz the owner paid to get the grooming done they are not gunna let the animal outside to just go and mess it all up. So I think this cat is amazing, because you should try to stand out every chance you get even if your animal or alien you don't always have to follow the crowd. So I give this cat props for being who he is and struttin his stuff!
