I guess it's awesome if you're the person talking on the cell phone. It's annoying if you're sitting next to someone who is...
Either way, you're still not allowed to make calls aboard planes in the U.S. Let me ask you this, though: Even if the technology, which you hear about in Monday's show, becomes available in America, is it really that important to be able to make cell phone calls on a plane? And would it be worth it if there were an extra charge for every minute you spoke or every text you sent?
Carl Azuz, Anchor
Cell phones aren't really necessary unless there are emergency situations, like if a husband was waiting to get the long awaited call about his pregnant wife, or receiving calls pertaining to life or death, or other cases of emergency.
I don't think that's worth...
why do they pay for extra charge and want to call on planes
I can't understand
I don't think it is that important unless it was an urgent situation. But if it were going to be allowed, I do think they should charge extra for talking, but not texting. Texting doesn't bother anyone and is silent, while chatting.... not so much.
first of all i don't think there should be phones on a plane if it were to interact with the plane and if they do allow it then they should charge even more on a plane
No its not that important to use cell phones on a plane, You mostly do it because you get bord and It wouldnt be worth extra charge id just find something else to do!
The Cell phone should be needed in case of a emergency but it wouldn't be very pleasent if the person next to me is talking on the phone on raised voices. What if you set a place to make calls? They could answer the phone in there.
i think it is fine to talk on your cell phone as long as you are not loud or obnoxious. Also, keep the ringer on vibrate, but other than that talking on a phone is fine with me.
I don't think that its truly worth it to use your cellphone if there is an extra charge. If anything you still shouldn't use your phone on a plane. You might annoy someone really badly. Plus, I don't think you'd get very good reception in a plane. In all I have to say if there is an extra charge for a call that might have bad reception, I say it's a no go man.
I think it is a little bit of wasting money. It's not worth it! It might disturb some people from peacefully sleeping. Also, I don't want to be surrounded with electromagnetic waves from the cell phones. Calling families can be done before getting into the plane, I think...
How about you Carl?
No,
I don't think that it would be worth the extra charge at all mainly because cell phone bills are off the walls these days, and why bother pushing your money to that kind of payment?
And it's annoying when oyu sit next to someone who is on the phone, and now on plains?
That's even worse, espesially in a long flight...
That's cool, but with the charges it might not be worth it when in just a few a hours you can use your phone again whenever you want, unless it was an emergency.
i think that cell phones should continue to be forbidden on planes because it is a time that should be safe and secure and with people talking on cell phones in flight i believe that hieghtens the chance for attack and with terrosim at such a high threat throughout the world we cannot afford to take that risk. also they are annoying
yes becase if you realy need to call someone then pay extra fee, but if you are just texting for fun then you dont have to.
i think that they should not have that. They could also have a different part of the plane that is for calling or emailing. The sounds of phones is very annoying.
I think that it would be really annoying if I was trying to sleep and some phone started ringing I would get pretty mad. The only case that we should use a cell phone on a plane is for a emergency.
I think that it is awesome but also annoying. I think that you should have to have your phone on vibrate and have to talk quietly while you are on the phone because some people try to sleep on the air plane and it would be rude to wake them by talking. Just be considerate!
I think being able to use cell phones on a plane is a good idea. But having to pay for it is a waste of money. I think charging for cell phone use is a rip off because you already pay to have your phone normally and it isn't fair to have to pay more just so you can use it on a plane.
I think cell phones would distract the air plane driver an the only reason the cell phone should be used only if you have problems with something or something bad is going to happen. An you should have your cell phone set to vibrate or silence while you are on the Air Plane.
I would not mine having cell phones on a plane. I would bring ear plugs though thats for sure. I would not care to have them on the planes though.
I think It is a good a idea to have phones on airplanes. Long plane rides can get boring and this gives you something to do. To fix the phones being annoying, they could have everyone put their phones on vibrate. That doesn't help the noise of people talking, though.
I think it would be pretty awesome. But other people might think that it is annoying. If I were sleeping and a phone ringing woke me up, I'd be ticked and throw the phone or something.
WE THINK THAT YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE CELLPHONE ON A PLANE JUST IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY OR IF MOM CALLS.
Cell phones should be allowed on US planes, in case of an emergency. But if someone used one on a plane in the US today, they'd probably be put IN a cell.
I think it would be annoying but, then if the plane crashes and you or someone else is a survivor, you have a way to call 911!!!!!
This is absurd, however, I guess it is what we can expect, Is this the reason OBama fought like a SISSY just to keep his BLACKBERRY??
what other outrageous changes will we see under this President?
You can bet they are going to become a topic for chatting...Betty
i think its awsome, especially when you're flying by yourself!
I don't think having Cell phones on a flight will be a big deal, people are willing and will be willing in the future to pay the charge. The only problem I can see is that the noise level on the plane will increase. I personally would make a rule to keep the phone setting on silent or vibrate to keep the sound down. But if it doesn't cause harm there shouldn't be a problem. If someone doesn't want to listen to their seatmate talk on their phone they can ignore it or put headphones in.
Its cool! but if the plane hits turbulence, i'd feel more safe if everyone turned there cell phone OFF!
cell fones rule
annoying
I think it would be annoying and cool at the same time. I would probably get mad if a person beside me wouldnt stop making noise.
I think you should be able to have cell phones on a plane, but i don't think you should pay a fee to text.
I personally think that cell phoning on airplanes would be handy for unaccompanied minors who need to talk to their parents but other than that I think they would just get annoying for the people who are trying to sleep.
It would be awsome to talk to a freind or something but would be annoying if everyone was making noise at the same time.
i think that is awsome! but the only bad thing is that if it rang while i was sleeping than i would get pretty mad.
I personally think that cell phoning on airplanes would be handy for unaccompanied minors who need to talk to their parents but other than that I think they would just get annoying for the people who are trying to sleep. It would also distract the airplane driver.
i think it would be pretty awesone.but other people might thinkthat it is annoying.if i were sleeping and a phone ringing woke me up. i'd be tiickedand throw the phone or something
I think that you should be able to use your cell phone on a plane because they might have an emergency! Plus you will have something to do while you are on a long, boring air plane ride.
It is a total waste of money! It costs a lot to talk on the phone on an airplane!
I THINK THAT YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE A CELL PHONEON A PLANE JUST IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCYOR IF YOUR MOM CALLS
I think it would be okay to have a phone on a plane. Some people may need to talk to someone because they are scared. Also, a phone would be useful if there was an emergency. However, I don't think you should have to pay to use your phone on the plane.
I think its cool that you can have cellphones on a plane because now you can talk to your friends on a flight and you have something to do.
I think that passengers on the plain should have a time for using their cell phones. They should be able to talk for maybe an hour, while the pilot is focused. I think it would be pretty distracting for the pilot hearing all of people talking and cell phones ringing.
I think you should be able to talk on a cell phone on the plane. I mean you might be bored and have nothing to do.
i think it is a bad idea cause the signals, from what i understand, can some times mess with the pilots equiptment in the cockpit
I think that people should have their cell phone with them, in case of an emergency. But if it's not an emergency, then I think that it is pretty pointless, I mean you have to pay for every minute you use it!
It might be an important call from your business or a family member. The airlines shouldn't charge you to send or receive a text or phone call.I think I would pay the extra money to text or call someone on an airplane.
I think that cell phones use is good on flights if people turn there cell phones on vibrate or silent. I like to use my cell and its easier to tell people when you are leaving or landing, but It is rude to keep your phone on ringer. Other than that, I thinks its a wonderful idea!!!
i think being able to use your cell phones on planes is an okay idea but i think it'd be annoying to hear ringing maybe if they make the rule so your phone has to be on vibrate or silent it would be okay
i think that it is a good way to make money but for the passengers on the flight that just want to get were thay are going to is annoying
I think it's cool that they can do that and whatnot, but personally I wouldn't want to do it. I'm pretty sure that a person can go a few hours without their phone. And why pay all the extra money?
Heck, I get the airline companies are trying to earn a little extra money in tough times, but this is a bad ‘call’. You know the awkwardness of waiting silently while someone is talking on the phone in a car? Multiply that by a cabin full of passengers and you'll have people who are wishing for the days when a restless child was the worst they’ll have to tolerate.
It would be nice to say goodbye to your family if the plane was going to crash or something like that, but other wise the noise would be extreemly annoying.
I think it should be for emergencies only, I mean it's kinda stupid for you to have to use your phone on a plane in my opinion. I mean you have to pay for it in general, but why pay for EVERY minute? Point. Less. And some of the signals could have the possibility to mix when with other equipment signals, you know?
I think it is awesome,
because if you are able to talk on your cell phone on a plane you are communicating with other people on land. But to others it may seem annoying, but to me it doesn't.
I think it would be pretty annoying but it is cool and awesome. Just if they had it in the US.
It's cool that you get to call from your phone on the plane but you have to pay for the calls, texts, and emails. If you wouldn't have to pay for all of that
I would be calling and emailing my friends. A lot.
We think both annoying and awesome because,
If the plane is crashing you would have a cell phone to contact emergency help, but if you don't have a cell phone nobody would know when and where you are crashing if you were crashing.
It could really go either way....... if it's an emergency they need to call but it can be distracting to other passengers. For anyone it would be a hard dession but you cant use cell phones anyway.
I think it would be very annoying ,because i could be talking to the guy next to me and in the middle of the conversation he cuts me off because of "hello moto".
I think that it can be very necessary at times, especially if there was an emergency. I think you should have to pay for it though, because if you wouldn't, the airline company wouldn't get any money for this service.
Unless the call and/or text was an emergency, I wouldn't pay to recieve the call, or make a call. Besides, why make people pay to use something that they already paid for? To me, it makes no sense.
well i think that maybe it's annoying because if you are sleeping that would be annoying, but if you put your phone on vibrate it would be better
Well I think it would be cool to be able to call and text people, because you can tell people where you are and how long it will be to get to a place, or how long you have been flying in the air. So it would be awesome to be able to do that.
It would be cool but annoying unless you put it on vibrate
Annoying cause it will be so noisy in flight..
Someone can not sleep well or something if everyone in the flight start talking all over,
but it's awesome-it's good to know that science's gradual-
I would and wouldn't like it. Even though you would be able to call on your phone, you'd have to hear everybody else's calls and ringtones, eventually it would just get annoying.
I believe that it would be extremely annoying if you sat next to someone that wouldn't get off of the phone. Also, it isn't like you always have to be in communication with a friend or family member. It also would be good for you to take a break from talking to everyone you know.
I don't think it'd be that important if you're on a plane to talk to someone. Really, you can talk to someone once your plane lands. I know if I sat next to someone on a plane and they were talking on their cell phone, I'd be annoyed, definetly. If you absolutely HAVE to talk to someone, there should be a room you could go to, or at least somewhere else you could go so you are not bugging people with your chatting.
Even though cell phones are awesome, I would be so annoyed to hear everyones cell phone ringing and making noise. I like to have a peaceful and silent flight and I just can't stand annoying things. I would much rather not have cell phones on. If the rule is otherwise, I guess I have to get used to the noise.
I thank it is a good ideay and that we in the U.S shood start dowing it.
its not that important to talk on a cell phone on a plane.its not worth the extra money.
cell phones would be annoying on a plane. It wouldnt be fair for people that are asleep trying to pass time by.
The cell phone idea could be very annoying. They should keep the "rule" to where you CAN use your phones, just keep them on vibrate. I wouldn't use it though, being charged for the minutes is pricey. You already bought a ticket, and those are expensive enough.
Hi im ian i really think it is a good idea because when i go to chicago i get to text my friend ian when im on the plane.
I think it's awesome.
On planes people can be nervous and somtimes people have wierd outlets one for instance is texting. I can understand why phone calls would anoy people, all the loud one ended conversations and tmi moments. But texting, with all of the the computer clacking ect. it wouldn't bother people so much.
I think its an absoluelty Great idea
Pretty much Everyone including Teenagers or Tweens are addicted to their Cell phones Even adults...
Its a good thing that We all dont have to be bored on an Airplane doing nothing When we can be texting Our Friends or family!
🙂
yes i think that you should be able to talk on a phone on an airplane because if you got bored of if there was a problem at home you would need to know!
I think that would be totally cool but might get annoying after awhile.
Well, the only reason I would have a cell phone is for emergency reasons. I don't see another reason to use it. That's the only thing I use my own cell phone for, anyway.
I think it is a great idea to be able to talk on your cell phone while on a plane. But it does depend on how much it costs. I'm glad people are making advances toward studies like this. On the other hand, people who are using this feature should be quiet and respectful to the other passengers.
I think this idea is selfish and greedy. Come on! Not only does this ruin the flight for yourself (receiving calls from people while you want to relax), but it ruins the flight for your fellow passengers. Why waste your money like that during the recession we're already having?
Cell phones will only further complicate the already hectic and nerve wrecking task of flying, as well as creating an annoying distraction to the already stressed airline workers.
-Blaine
I think sometimes it can help you but if you use it the wrong way it is not that great.
Asweom indeed! But I think all those ringings and talkings will anoy me a bit.
I think it is cool that they are letting cell phones on the plane,But I think they shouldn`t have the ringers on because it distraces the other passengers,so, they should have them of vibrate so the others can enjoy the flight.
Hi Carl. We love your show. We think that cell phone use is unnecessary during flight. We think that it would be worth it to pay only if it is an emergency. Texting and calling though, is truly unnecessary. It is also very annoying to the person next to you on the plane.
I think that being able to use cell phones on a flight is important! Think about those long 16 hour flights and so much info you could miss!!! You could miss something as important as someone you know dying, or miss out on the latest friend gossip! Both are WAYY to important to be missed!
I think that the airplane is more of a place for quite, but then again I wouldn't care if the person was talking quietly. I really like the idea of being able to text on the plane though, it would be extremely useful for many people.
i think that Having a phone on a plane is good and bad. what happened if you were about to crash? your loved ones wouldnt know until it was on the news. but, the cost would be annoying. every minute you speak, you lose money. i think that needs to be free. if your allowed to use a phone, why would you have to pay, your already paying dozens of money a month.
Annoying! If everyones cell phone starts to go off, and they are all talking at once, it could be very loud. then others will start talking louder an it starts a vicious cycle. Also, i think it may present certain security risks.
I am studying for being a pilot and it is an awsome thing to be allowed in the flight. Because it would be easier to save the lifes of so many people incase their is any difficulty in the aircraft. But there is going to be one difficulty for crew members during emergency times they will have to take the people of the phone. Also I think moms would stay longer on the phones and much easier for them to track to what their sons and daughters are doing. but then how will they charge their phone if the battery runs out>>.>>>>>>.>.>>>>........
If using the cell phones excellent in the phones don't worry the cell phone company will come up with a plan that covers all the charges up there.
well i guess it's pretty annoying! but yet awesome because it's the only thing next to computers that you can use on a flight. When my parents went on an airplane ride they said it was like a roller coaster and they said that cell phones were annoying!!!!
it costs a lot of money to call on a plane so why would pay even if you have unlimited calls or text. it just doesn't make much sense to me
Hey Carl
i think we should be able to talk on the phone and text. I am 12 and I still have a cell phone and i love texting and calling people. I dont like being on a plane and not being able to text or call
I don't think it's that important but some business people go crazy if they can't talk on the phone every chance you get.
I don't think that phone calls on planes are very important, they should keep the rule of not allowing cell phone calls on arplanes, unless it is a complete and utter emergency. It would get very annoying to have eighty or more phones ringing nonstop, then overhearing the people's conversation, to me that would get old hat pretty fast. So you know what it shouldn't be allowed.
In-flight cell phoning is a good idea in case you need to talk to someone on ground in case of emergency. The privilege should be used sparingly though, and not for just the sake of talking.
It would be cool to text my friend on a plane, but to pay for every incoming and outgoing call/text, that would be outragous! And all the cell phones ringing, that would be anoing, for real.
I think it is definitely an idea that will be implemented in U.S. planes, because it will give airlines extra money. There are business people that are always making calls, & they might make some multi-million dollar deal that would be worth the charge of the call. And is it any different than making a call in the park next to a bunch of people. They aren't offended then, so why should they be on a plane.
I think it would be ok or the people who could afford to text and use a cell phone on a plane. It's not necessarily good for the people who are calling to pay more, but it would bring up our economy level.
I think that cell phoning while in flight would definetly get annoying. I think this is just a fad like disco was. Soon this won't be aloud just like it wasn't before
i think is cool because you might have to take a family call or your boss might need you call and give you an update
I personally would not turn mine on because i text A LOT and i would be out of money. I could see how it would be annoying but it would be good because something like 9/11 could happen again and a cell phone would be a good way to let people know.
I think that you should be able to bring your cell and so it is not to bothersome you should have to keep it on silent or vibrate.
i think it would be annoying because if i was sleeping and the phone rings than i would be mad.
I think that cell phones shouldn't be aloud on an airplane because what if you drop it and it breaks. Also ringtones are very annoying.
So I think it would be sweet
But then again it would be really loud on the plane.
But then again if there was an emergancy you would be able to get a hold of someone.
I think it's REALLY annoying to sit next to someone who keep talking on their phone, even if your not on a plane. They should allow texting on planes. It's quiet, and helpful if you are trying to communicate with someone on the ground. Maybe they could charge you a dollar for every text you send and receive.
I think u should be able to have a cel phone on the plane cause usuall ppl get bored on a plane so whne u r an a plane u can talk to friends and family. so i cant live without my phone so i would like die if ii couldnt have it on the plane and i have never been on a plane so i wouldnt nop how it is without my phone!!!
well personaly i luv my cell and i wouldnt go out of the house without it and i think that only some of the ringtones r annyoing. well ppl say that they r for impotant things but idk ??
i think that having a cell phone on a air plane is a good idea because when you need to use the phone and call someone,,you can use your cell phone..Most of the time the phone that is provided is usually in use or is out of order...all im sayin is that when your at a time where you need your phone a air plane should be one of those times..that's why i think having a cell phone on a air plane is a good idea ...
And it could be loud but you do what you have to do..
Sorry For Those People That Think Different From What Im Saying..
Using cell phones on airplanes would be awesome! I'm always texting someone, and while I'm on a plane, I want to keep up with it. If I needed someone to do something for me, then I would be able to call them.
I think that there really isn't a reason to let people talk on the phone while on a plane. I mean, no one is on a plane THAT long... If they need to make a phone call they can wait till they are on the ground.
I don't like the new thing with having cell phones available to text and talk because I think I would get really annoyed with people talking on their cell phones. I am glad that it isn't free because that means that people probably won't want to spend the money just to talk on the phone, I think that it would be really annoying listening to all the ringers going off every five seconds.
I don't think that using cell phones on a plane is really that necessary. I mean, they already let you use computers and phones on a plane. Why do you have to use your own? You should have all of your affairs in place before you get onto a plane. For people who fly often, it must get irritating to hear others blab to their friends everything that's going on around them. It would be even worse for people who don't fly often and are trying to sleep!
I think that this is a good idea. This alows people to use their cell phones when needed. I mean, it shouldn't really be that annoying because there's no reason why they can't turn the volume down on vibrate. That will definitely help. Although, the passengers need to be respectful of others. If they have someone in front of them who's sleeping, they need to either talk quietly, or not at all.
I think it's fine that people can talk on there cell phones when they are in flight. That means that now if there is someone flying alone that they can call someone that makes them comfortable or feel safe. I don't think that the charge is a problem but if someone does have a problem with it then they should just not use their cell phone.
I think that it is awesome and annoying. It can be awesome because you can use your cell phone on your way to another city and you could text ant time. It also can be annoying because all of the phones ringing and beeping it would be hard to sleep or talk on the phone.
I think that it is kinda stupid that people cant make cell phone calls on a plane. What if they had a important call that they needed to take. I dont think that they should charge people to do that. It just seems ridiculous to me.
I think it would be nice to have that in case of an emergency, but having to pay for it is stupid. Plus I think it would be VERY annoying to sit there listening to phones ring on a 9 hour flight that would get really quick
I think that cell phone use should be allowed under certain conditions. Phones should be put on vibrate, and flight attendants can always let someone know if they're too loud. Some people may need to make important business calls. Others may need to let relatives know about delays. Passengers should be allowed to use cell phones in a none-disturbing way.
Cell phone usage onboard planes can be annoying to some. Personally, I don't find it annoying unless I am trying to do something very important or if the person is annoying or talking very load and being too obnoxious. To be completely honest, I find some calls entertaining to listen to and some of them are quite humorous. I do think that calls should be limited and should be kept private and quiet. But for those of you that talk loud on your cell phone, you are probably limited on your privacy. Cell phone users; beware...I am listening.
I would never ride on a plane if I wasn't able to text or call somebody on my phone. That would make it fair enough to me.
I don't have a phone but it would be really cool if they gave them out and then let you use them on flight.
I think its awesome that we can use cell phones an airplanes now expecially if you work in a job where you need a phone, but i heard that you have to pay a lot of extra money to text or even to call if your on a plane, so its a win lose situation
I know that if I wanted to use the phone, I'd think it was a great idea, but I wouldn't because paying extra is crazy!! If I was trying to sleep, I'd get really mad. you should be able to not talk on the phone for a couple of hours, and you need to constantly be on it then you have some issues. It should only be OK if it's a an emergancy. Put a vote for no on cellphone use for me Carl!!
well the thing is carl it may be good ideas to some people or even nesseceary for important people like congress and stuff but some people dont have that kinda of money to be wasting it on phonecalls that are pointless.
I think I would enjoy it but they should make a rule for everyone on the plane: bring earphones.
I think that having cell phones on an airplane would be very annoying!!!! because with everyone texting and having all the phones ringing and going off it would be very hard to have peace and quiet and it would be really hard to try and sleep. I just don't think its a good idea.
picture sleeping on a plane and waking up when you get there. then picture waking up every 5 minutes from a cell ringing. enough said
i thik that iz tha colest thig cuse i lik talking on tha fone but i doos not no wat a text iz but it most b praty col far thim to put it on arpanes
I think would be nice to have cell phones in the airplane but it probably get annoying becuz all of the texting and all the ringtones. my brother is always texting to so it gets annoying sometimes..........and it messes up the TV..lol
sweetness!!!
i think that is awsome because u could talk to your wife or your girfriend when u are on the plane because then u wouldn't feel bad about not being able to talk to ur girlfriend:) and if it didnt happen your girlfriend/wife wouldn't have to worry about if you crashed or not and if u have to go some ware fast and u have to call them to make sure ur ok:):)
I think it is awesome that they are allowing people to use their cell phones on an airplane. I think it stinks that they charge you though. Now I wish the U.S. would do that.
I think it is Awwwsome. Thanks plains.
I think that although all the ringing from the phones would annoy some people it is still awesome that you can use your own cell phone on an air plane.
I think it would be cool to have a phone on a plan but it would also be expensive for me because I would text the whole time.
I think it would be nice but to pay is just wrong specially know when we are having money problems.
I think that it would be annoying but helpful if you need to call a friend to tell them your on the plane. But not for your on personal use to talk to the person next to you
I think it's pretty cool but i prolly cost a boat load of money and it might in the end help out the Economy
I think that it is a good idea but I think it would get annoying to here everyone else's ring tone so I think that they should have to put their phones on vibrate.
I would want to use the phone but it would get pretty annoying if some one else was constantly using it. And having to pay money to use the phone is crazy i wouldn't pay.
I think it would be kind of cool to have you phone on in the plain and talk to some family members or if some think goes wrong then you could call some one to pre warm them.
I think it would be aoying to try to go to sleep and the porson nexts to you is on there cellphone.
That is just (plane) rude!!!! You are on a trip to get away some where not to talk to people all day!!!
I think that would be SO annoying if the guy next to me on a plane wouldnt shut up because he was on the phone. I would like to have the texting though because that is not loud, but I would totally not be willing to pay extra to text though. I already have to pay for unlimited.
I wouldn't mind because i would probably be texting also,, hahaaa
i think that it would be awesome at first...but if it was a long plane ride it would eventually get annoying because if you were trying to sleep or something while the people all around you were texting and all you heard was the ringtone, that would fer sure bug me..but i love texting so maybe it wouldnt get to me but who knoes haha:)
Honestly, i would be annoyed out of my mind. I wouldnt want someone to be on the phone if i was trying to sleep.
Also, i think the plane could crash, die out, ect.
But the email part is cool.
:]
i think phones should be on virbrate or else no
I think it would be really annoying and besides, your not allowed to use a cell phone on a plane and you would just be wasting minutes, you can call whoever you want to after you land, so hold... I mean drop those cell phones people
I think that it's a really good idea and its about time. Its annoying to have to wait on a flight when you have to call someone or email someone. I think this will only improve business.
Well i think its bad idea but they should be limited on how long they talk what if someone has a call that really matters or hey what if someone is sleeping if i were you i wouldn't want someone talking while i was trying to sleep.
I think both ways because it would be really nice to talk to friends and family on you're flight just so that they know that you are safe. I also think it would be annoying because if you are trying to watch a movie all you hear is people talking, also it costs a lot of money and we already have enough to pay.
I'm a glider pilot myself and I can assure you, that there is no danger at all in using a cell phone on board of an airplane on the technical point of view (no matter if it's on a passenger jet or a small glider).
It doesn't affect the anything, neither the navigation systems on board nor the radios.
The biggest reason for not switching on your mobile is because of passengers comfort, you can compare this with the general rule not to smoke on any airplane.
From Germany, with best regards.
I would find it annoying if i was on a plane and everyone had a cell phone out it disrupts the entire plane ride for people. When i flew on a plane that allowed cell phones it was nonstop. But if people were allowed to talk on their phones i think they should have a right to choose if they want to pay.

I think it is good that people can use cell phones on plane because if something happened to someone in my family I would want to know right away.
OK first I am a girl who never stops texting except for school. I've never been on a plane, but I would allow texting but charge for calling. Thats my opinion. I also agree with Alyssa Paying extra charges are CRAZY!!!!=}
That would be annoying having ringtones go off. I wouldn't mind texting though. Texting is not noisy or have loud sounds. If I was sleeping I would cover my ears with ear muffs before I sleep.
I think that cellphones are for the ground
I think that even if you are on the plane you should be able to speak on the phone. It won't be annoying if you're not being nosey.Just ignore the person. The call maybe important and it may not be but what difference does it make to you if your staying out of their buisness.
Personally, I find that I am neutral on this matter. To talk on the phone on an airplane could prove to be a nuisance. On the other hand, people who frequently recieve calls for whatever reason, be it work- or simply social life-related could find this new privelige an asset and not an anchor. It seems to me that excessive cell phone use (which would be/is inevitable) could be somewhat dangerous for the individuals whose job it is to maintain the flight path of the plane... where I stand on this issue is somewhat unclear, though I should make up my mind if the restriction is lifted on our shores.
I think the feature is, like it was shown in the video, a cool novelty. Can I have italics on that last word? Sure, once it's a new feature it'll be really nice to have (I guess) but after a while the novelty goes away and we're stuck with another feature we could potentially take for granted.
First of all, I must say hello to Mr.Bernardi's class.
Ok anyway its really not that important to call someone on a plane.,but it could bring in some extra cash so in the end i think it helps.
Ok, now you've gotten me on my soapbox!!! Cell phones today are way overrated and used way too much in my opinion. Seriously planes are meant to get you from one place to another and if one were to add a cell phone to the mix it'd just be more chaos! I'd have to say NO cell phones on planes because it's just extra money that YOU have to SPEND and right now people are having enough trouble just making it to the next paycheck without having to pay those necessary bills AND really; who needs the extra bills that aren't necessarily needed?
I think that the cell phones on the airplane would be quite annoying with everyones ringtones.I already know what it sounds like because is in the grocery store you can hear a lady talking to her bff on the phone 3 aisles down
I think they should have the first section of the plane for people who will use their cell phones. So in the back for the people that won't use their cell phone. That is a easy solution.
Well, I think that ou should be able to talk onyour cellphone even if it bothers someone. I think his because it might be an important call. It could be like the biggest emergency ever, and you just have to take it!!! I don't think that people should be charged extra for every text or call they get. besides, isn't America supposed to be the country of FREEDOM?!?!
I think that it is kind of annoying. But if you can leave your phones on vibrate, speak softly and make sure it does not get out of control then it would be okay
Well it depends. It is awsome but the phone should only be on vibrate so that the noise doen't annoy the pilots.
I dont think cell phones should be on it will distract people next to you. And it will be hard to sleep threw.
-Aly-
i think that they should enforce a rule stating that cell phones are used only in emergency because on planes people tend to like to sleep and cell phones are equivalent to a crying baby or barking dog. The difference is babies are babies and dogs are dogs, uncontrollable, but cell phones, are controllable.
I think people shouldn't use cell phones on a plane period
I think cell phones are awesome! I think it is great for an emergency and if you are just plain bored. Flights would be much better to hear everyones ring tone and having more to do. I just want the time to fly by, and cell phones give another way to pass the time. I hope they don't change this rule...
I think cells phones are only good for emergencies, but if you do have to use one to contact a parents or friend. You should use a landline phone. Not a cell phone, but the reason we have cell phones is because of the tecnology. Tecnology is to inprove the lives of human being not to be disrespectful.
Hey Carl! We love your show. we think cell phones are used for the ground but it would be nice if they could be used in the air.
I think that the phone on the air plans are messes up because you are going to have so many people complaining about the noise.
I think that in flight cell phoning and texting is a good thing because if your flight is rerouted or if your plane is about to crash you can send a text messaging asking them to call for help. Plus If you are on a long flight you can text your friends and you wont be as bored. I cant wait until it is legal in the United States.
i think being able to use cell phones on a flight is asome because its another way to pass time.
I think it is awesome but annoying!! I would be cool 'cause you could call and text your friends, but it would be annoying 'cause you would have to listen to the person next to you going on and on and it would get annoying!! 🙂 :/
I think it is awesome but annoying!! I would be cool ’cause you could call and text your friends :), but it would be annoying ’cause you would have to listen to the person next to you going on and on :(, and it would get annoying!!
I personally think it is disruptive when people talk on their phones in an inclosed or confined space, because the person on the other line could be in a bad area and it would be hard for the caller to hear them so in result they would have to speak louder and that is just simply annoying.
I guess it is a convience to talk on your cell while on a plane, but with so many other people making calls, wouldn't it be impossibe to hear? But I guess it would be easy to live with if it was a very important call. It must depend on the ear; the one with the cell phone and the one that is listening to the loud chattering on the usually peacful plane...
i think that they should allow cell phones on planes because what if someone had to make an important call or get an important call from someone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i think that its not okay to use cell phones in the airline because it messes up the signal for the flights not only that but it disturbs others specially the people that are actually around you.. i know that i wouldn't want somebody to be talking on the phone while im trying to get to another stae it would be really disturbing and very very very.. annoying but i understand that they should really cancel that and it shouldnt be allowed!
I dont think they should be allowed because from personel experience, my mom called a friend during the flight and she apparently was hearing flight instructions. Is that even possible?
As long as they dont effect the safety of the other passengers onboard, they are ok with me. Live are more important than business calls.
i think both because the ring probably annoys you but who doesn't want to text
i nthinnk it is annoying and amazing....the annoying part is when you are trying to sleep then a cell phone goes off every minute.....then the fun part is that you can chat with your friends or family while on the phone.
What I liked about airplanes was that you feel kinda royalty during your travels in the plane. No sound, velvety seats, movie, TV, radio on your private headphones.(and of course those hot stewardess who gives you a smile whenever you call her.)But now CELL PHONES are ALLOWED?I think it disrupts the air of grandeur planes gives to us. I mean people talking into their phones sometimes bound to be shouting...
Mabey it would cost more, but what if you went on the wrong plane or something? Or what if you are moving and you miss your friends?
I think that people should be able to use their phone on airplanes for important stuff & Carl i LIKE YOUR VESTS where do you get those & your jokes are BEAST you need to tell us MORE jokes
awesome
If i was on an air plane I would be on my cell pone even If the person next ton doesn't like it because without my cellphone I aint nothing.
I think cell phones should be used any where for emergencys but i would have enough rrespect to not use on on a plane.
I think it's awosome because you get to talk to you're friends and family. I think it's really important if a child goes alone on the plan and she or he needs to talk to her mother or father.
ill call you, carl, from the plane to give you better puns
I think that you dont need cell phones on a plane the ride isnt so long that you can not survive it without a cell phone.
Totally annoying! I could be talking to my friend deep in conversation..... and all of a sudden RING, RING! Very annoying!!
i think it would be annoying to have all of the peole talking at the same time as everyone and people could not hear themselves when they are having a conversation
Look, it would be cool to do that but use earphones. I am not sure if I would feel safe with cellphones on in a plane.
It would be annoying if the guy beside you would not stop talking and I would throw his phone out the window.
I would be scared and happy at the same time.
NOO!
You can't get any peace when you're in a store and you can hear someone talking on their cell phone.
Now you can sit on an airplane and enjoy the sound of someone's conversation about work.
I don't think that it is something that we have to have, and the oustanding price that it costs, it is not worth it. It may be a different story if it was your young child on a plane ride for the first time and you are not there to be with them but for any one else, just sit tight and enjoy the ride.
I think cell phones on planes would be the most annoying think. When flying, I do not want to hear someone's life story. I want to enjoy the time in the air.
I think it would be important if you were a minor traveling alone or it was an emergency. If it wasn't though that would be annoying! Just think everyone around you talking... ugh how would you sleep! Anyway who wants to pay to talk or text someone for a few minutes or LONGER!!!
I don't see the point in planes spending more money when the ecomony is as bad as it is, just so people can talk on their cell phones. People should be able to handle a few hours without texting and making calls.
It can be good, but bad for people if they still don't have service.
I think that cell phones on planes could become annoying, especially if they aren't on silent or vibrate. Could you image hearing 100's of different rings and beeps throughout your long flight? That would be so annoying. Imagine how the flight attendents would feel??
I think that they should be unavailable on planes. There is no exceptional reason to need to talk on the phone during a flight. Also, it may interrupt the signals and make it harder for the pilot to contact the airport.
I absolutly think people can go a few hours without a phone...
But if it were an emergancy i see why people would want to call someone. But isnt that what flight attendances are for?
Even if they permit their passengers only texting, it is worth paying an extra charge because it enables them to work using e-mails.
I think that sweater vests are totally in, it is a sign of intelligents. Who in the world created those pancake races, they look REDICULOUS!
i actually think this may get very anoying. Imagine if your trying to rest from a hard day and all of a sudden a cell phone wakes you up.
I thin cell phones are unnecessary unless is an emergency. People are trying to sleep and all that ringing and buzzing makes it hard to concentrate on anything!
Come to think of it my uncle does exacatly that. He will complain about people talking the cell phone when they're driving but does it all the time when he is driving.
it is annoying and ALMOST anyone can go without thier phone, exccept that girl who made 14000 text messages
I have mever been in a airplane but yea i think that the cell phones in an airplne would be AWESOME!!! you no 4 people that hav 1!! I dont!! Now thats not cool!!
I really wouldn't care much about cell phones being allowed on planes. I enjoy texting and hate having to shut off my phone before getting on the plane. although I'm no frequent flyer the extra charge wouldn't be that bad. However, I think if i flew often i would not approve of the extra charge.
If it cost more money to call or text from a plane then its not worth it. Also anyone can wait till they land to call or text someone. Personally if i had to sit next to someeone while they were talking to someone on the phone i would get annoyed.
i guess it wouldd be awesomee, but it also could get annoying. It would be awesome cause i text constantly but it would get annoying if someone next to you wouldnt shut up , because they were on the phone the whole time !!
I think that it wouldn't be so annoying to use your cell phones on a plane.....as long as you are only texting. Usually on plane people enjoy the peace and quiet. I am sure nobody would enjoy have a loud mouth talking to their BFF's for 3 and a half hours right in your ear. But as long as you are silently texting, I think it would be o.k. And as for the extra fee, I think it is a waste, because if you know you would be paying extra money you wouldn't call or text.
I am a frequent flyer and usually fly to Australia. I really would hate to have to sit on a 14 hour flight next to a guy whose cell phone is ringing continuously. It's a great idea for business traveling, but not for a long flight.
Talking on your phone while flying wouldn't bother me. The only part that would is the ringing. As long as the phones would have to be on vibrate I would not have a problem with it.
i think cell phones on airplanes would be useful but annoying. it would be useful if you sdesperatly neeeed to contact someone but at the same time its hard to sleep with some guy calling his extended familie
I think that there are pros and cons in this situation. It could be a good thing to have and use your cell phone. What if there was an emergengy ? What if your plane wasn't coming in on schedule? But. . . I'm sure it would create excess noise on the plane and distractions to some of the passengers. And having to pay that fee is a rip-off!
Anyone consider texting as a quiet alternative?
That's cool we have a lot of snow and I love it!!!!!!!!
Talking on the phone is just like talking to someone sitting next to you. The only thing that would bother me about it would be eavesdroppers.
I think that calling and texting on an airplane should not be allowed. It's hard to go to your happy place when someone next to you is yabbering away to their third cousin about their hyacinth plantation or something. O.o maybe it would work better if there were noise canceling headphones available for everyone, and those little pillows, blankets, and a hot fudge sundae. That would totally make up for the annoyingness!!!
There shouldn't be cell phones on planes mostly because it would be so annoying to be sitting next to somone who was on the phone while you are trying to relax. I think you should only be aloud to text on the plane. So I hope the US never allows cell phones.
I don't know about cell phones on a plane. I think that it would get to be very annoying and distracting-even though I have one, I wouldn't want to be stuck by someone always talking on the phone, especially when I'm trying to relax. I think that texting would be a lot better because no one can hear you and, when you're talking, people can hear your personal discussions. I hope texting will be aloud, but I don't really want the US to allow cell phone oral conversations. It would get to be toooooo much.
I think it would be annoying because if you wanted to sleep and a phone started to ring i would be mad.
I think that in flight cell phoning would be useful unitl a lot of people are sleeping and someboy's phone goes off on full blast.
Okay.
That is just annoying.
I really dislike listening to phones ringing, and others having conversations, and loudly, at that.
We've lived without having to use cell phones on flight, so why change it?
I think it would be annoying if the person next to me was loud, but some people should get to talk to their children!
this is a good idea because in other situations where not everyone gets to make a call on a plane that could be going down, i think that cell phones should be allowed without a charge.
its ok
i mean come on when if its an emergency and one of your family members had a stroke or something i mean come on
Some people think that it is annoying because you have had no sleep what so ever and your tired. But then your phone rings and it might be annoying to other people. You kinda have to look at it from both sides!
just make the call when you land and get off the plane
I think that the idea of having cell phones available to people on airplanes is a good idea. On the other hand, I think that It is a bad idea, because people talking on their phones right next to you, the entire plane ride would get very annoying. Although this is a great idea for business men, and people of that nature, I think that it is a horrible idea for regular people on the flight.
What is the point of having a call on a plane, if you could do it when there was a rule, why change it? Just make the call when you get off of the plane, why do the airplane staff have to waste money on that? Also, it would be very annoying if a person right next to you had a cellphone blaring on and off while you're trying to get some sleep.
annoying, because it really tells people that you have no common courtesy. its annoying to be sitting on the plane doing something else and someone starts talking on their cells, and its very rude.
AWESOME!!! It bugs me when I can't call on a plane!!! It would be a great idea!
I think it's rediculous. I would be okay for those people who can talk quietly and stuff but for those rude people who would talk extremely loud and just talk about whatever they want I don't think it's a good idea. Plus people already use them too much now.
I would be concerned that all those cell phone signals would interfere with the plane communications and cause a deadly accident.
Boarding the plane is an escape from loud and obauctious cell phone users in the waiting area. No way do I care to hear them on the plane. If you've ever taken note, they don't sit in first class and sometimes they are flying standby.
This could be good but bad at the same time. It would be annoying, but people would be able to get alot of work done.
I think it would be really annoying becuase i hve to sleep on planes or I can throw up at the land, alought sometimes I feel sick becuase I sleep. But still if you needed to sleep and you heard phones ringing and people chatting and a lot of those loaud noises caused by phones you would most likely be ticked-off.
I think that in-flight cell phoning would be really annoying, especially if you sat next to a stranger who was trying to sleep. They would be so mad at you. But being allowed to text-message or email would be fair, if your sound was off.
I think it would be annoying because while you are trying to sleep the person next to you could be on the phone talking away and you wanted to sleep. Just listen to music to keep you occupied on the plane.
I think that people should be able to use cell phones and laptops on planes because people can stay in reach with friends and/or family.I think that people who use phones and laptops on planes are standing up for there rights.
I think we should have cell phones on planes!!!!
I think that there should be cell phones on planes but make it separated because when you are on a plane its bad when there is like a thousand people talking and you want to read now its going to be very bad when there is tons of cell phones going off to
I think if someone next to you was doing it it would be fine unless the ride was like 5 hours long. but you can't do it anyway so it doesn't matter anyway.
I don't think that they should be able to talk on the phone while on a plane. They shouldn't be able to do that because the pilots then could get distracted from flying the plane because of all the noise thats why we have to be quiet while on a plane.
Cell phones aren't necessary unless there is an emergency.
i think flying would be pretty cool with phones & internet. But, then again, I think it wouldn't be. Alot of people sleep on the airplanes, sometimes its pretty much their only spot to relax for atleast an hour, seeing how people have such busy schedules. I know I sleep, for a short amount of time on the airplanes i go on, &i wouldn't want a bunch of people talking at once.. -agreeing with megz- cellphones aren't necessary unless there is an emergency. Calling your mom to tell her to order a pizza when you get there, is NOT an emergency.. 😛
I think don't think that it is a good idea to have cell phones on a plane because people are trying to relax. You, don't need people talking back and fourth. It gets really annoying.
I would not be able to stop cussing. And if people want to cuss they should be aloud to cuss.It is their life they can live it how they want...
I think people should stop talking about Obama because yah he makes choices some people dont like other people do!!
It would be annoying to sit next to that person. But what would happen if an emergency came up and you had no way of getting a hold of ur family??????
