You Couldn't Spend $1 Trillion... (could you?)
The government has all kinds of projects it could spend money on - some you may think worthwhile, some you may not. But I'm willing to bet that $1 trillion - which the stimulus package could possibly cost - would be nearly impossible for a single person to spend.
The soundbite from Sen. Mitch McConnell in Thursday's show is hard to believe: "If you started spending the day that Jesus was born and you spent a million dollars every single day, you still wouldn't have spent a trillion dollars" today. INCREDIBLE.
So let's just take one year. Say you have $1 million to spend every day for 365 days. Could you do it? How would you?

If I had a million dollars to spend every day I don't think I would know where to start! I would probably donate a lot of the money to Bakas. But then I would buy a lot of clothes, a cactus, and a miniature pony to live in my house with me. Then I would pay someone to house-train it.

To be honest I would give it to all the people who really need it. like families of 5 whos parents have no job.
Well i would go to a really expensive clothing store like in hollywood and spend alot there, and then go out to eat at really expensive restruants, and give some to chairity's, then go on plane trips. It seems really easy but its not

If I where to have 1 trillion bucks ill spend some on charity and some to the homeless mabey some for Carl and the rest for candy!
If i had $1 trillion i would open a restaurent or a skate store and clone my pet or a animal that i really love who died but it would be to late... i would give $20,000 for my teacher Mr.kerr one of my coolest teacher ever to help him for his appartment and his toilet or something he likes to buy.

Without A Doubt! I'd 1) provide the foundational needs (according to Maslow's Law of Hierarchy) to encourage those who desire to better themselves, i.e. – housing, education, employment, family unification/reunification, health insurance; 2) pay off as many national debts as possible; and 3) resolve the environmental issues of this country with natural resources.
I would go on trips and spend money wherever I go! I guess a way to get rid of it and using it wisely would be donating money, and I guess I would do that too. Eventually, I thing I would get broke sooner or later.

Everyone wants to live like a millionaire even for just one day. I'm but only one of them. But a whole year living with million dollars? Just paying taxes and insurance, neccesities, food, debt and especially just living without anyone working a job.... in this current economic situation a year with a million dollar is nothing. Maybe putting them to a vault and getting a job would be more efficient. You know after this crisis is over then you could largen it and getting a tour autour l' monde.(Tour around the world)

First I would take a shopping spree, and spend about a couple thousand.

I think that for the first few months or weeks i would be able to spend the money. I would take my friends and family shopping and traveling. But after so long, you would have everything and then the money would just sit there.

I don't know, i am a pretty good shopper and I think that if I got 1 trillion dollars to spend in a life time then I think I could do it before I die. I could go to every mall in the world and spend more than a million a day. And I could design the most amazing house in the world with everything i could possibly dream of. If i got the chance to get 1 trillion dollars then I would faint for about 2 hours then I would buy plane tickets to every country in the world, buy a limo and get someone to drive me around, and then I would hit the malls. I would go in every store and buy everything that I could see. But I really don't think that I would get that chance. Thanks

I would put the money towards cure for disese's becasue if will put money towards medcine as we do beauty products we would have found cure's by now.yeah that is what i would do.
I would probably invest about a third of it and the rest I'd give to agencies that help save the enviorment, help out America's poor, and help find cures to various diseases.
One million dollars a day for 365 days? I'd donate $500,000 to a charity every day, help some people out who needed the money more than I did, then the rest I'd (I hate to say it) probably end up using for personal gain. A lot would end up going towards college too, though!
In these times if you had a million dollars to spend everyday...the best way to spend it would be to give it away to people the really need it and you could also use some yourself, of course.
The report said that spending a million dollars a second, every day since the birth of Christ, you would not have spent it all by today. However, we're not talking about one person here, we're talking about a country of three hundred million people. If a trillion dollars is what it takes to get this country back on its feet, then I say go for it! Every person in this country is worth a thousand times that.
On the subject of spending, though, the top priority would be a total restoration of the environment and the beginning of a program for world peace.
i would spend it on school funding. Getting new supplies and resources for the schools, and even start college funds for students. I would also start a fund to help the homeless recouperate. Start a program that helps them manage money and find jobs and places to live. I would also try to stimulate health programs and start free clinics for people who can't afford medical care. And then I would help other countries with their problems.
We don't think that we could do it. At first you could buy a bunch of stuff, but eventually you would run out of things to spend money on. But we would like to try!
I think that a trillion dollar is a little bit to much.
this is a huge number! and with this number we will need action. i do not see action happening in my life time, nor in my childerns life time. we need to start taking this action as fast as possible.

I love to shop, i would love to give money to charity's, buy new cars and houses but i still dont think i could manage to spend that much money.
I dont believe that i can spend a million dollars a day thats alot of money, i would probably donate a bunch of the money to different charities, and donate to environmental groups to help save the environment 🙂 but a million dollars a day is a lot of money. i would also pay my college tuition and everything i need for college.

I think i could definitly spend $1 million a day i would start by moving out than i would buy a house for me and my boyfriend. after all of that i would just buy clothes, shoes and a couple dogs =)

I would buy a house, a few cars, some quads, dirt bikes, jet skiis, world show horses. My house would need some furniture and paintings. I would donate a couple thousand dollars every day to charitys. I would also donate a couple thousand dollars to animal and human shelters and i would help the flood victoms.
I would use that much money for other people. I could organize a mission trip and pay for a bunch of people to go. I could help my parents pay off their bills and a bunch of other stuff. I would definately put a chunck into the arts department in many different ways. I think that the only way to spend that much money would be to use most of it for other people. Otherwise, it seems selfish.

it would be nice to have that much money to spend every, but if you really think about it, What would you buy. yea you could start off by buying houses for every onein your family, and really nice cars for everyone. but eventually you would run out of things to buy.
i would do it by settling all of my family members debts and payments. Buy all of them houses and a car of their dreams,(or a couple cars per person) Help countries and other needy organizations that really need help to make their lives better. i would deffinitly buy the latest and best technology for my self. such as TV"s, stereo systems for my house and cars. Cell phones. All of the good stuff.
A million dollars a day... might not be enough, I'd have to save some up. A large bit of property would be first one my list, a few dozen acres. Then a rather large house would get put up, fit with expensive materials, probably get it built somewhat fancy. Electronics and things needed for a house would be next. Some nice flat screens and all that, huge couches. Cars would be after that, my dream car, I would buy my dad and mom their dream cars, then i would buy some for my friends. Get any customizations in those cars that they would want which would probably include some sounds systems, engine mods, body kits, and all that stuff. Probably donate a lot of it. Then I'd get my parents a nice house to retire to and give them a million to live off of.
There's no way I could spend all that money! If you find some one who thinks they can spend it, GOOD LUCK TO THEM!!
I would spend it on college funding, a house of my dreams, and a car. I would also help the people that were layed off find new jobs, and pay them while they were unemployed for the basics. I would also donate 500,000 dollars to the American Cancer Society
i feel we would have to start helping low income society and then start investing in makeing more products in the U.S. which would then lead to having more jobs. and possiably give us more products to export.
then help out countries in more need of help. who have more problems then just money, and not being able to afford peoples "needs" for social bi-products. and invest in medicare for africa. to help them get back on there feet medically.

i would spend a lot of the money on charities and things that are really needed such as houses and food for those people that don't have that. There are multiple ways to spend money and I think that a trillion dollars is much more then I could ever be able to spend.

I think that they could just take a fraction of the one trillion dollars and just make everybody a millionaire so they could just pay off there debts and then have a little money left over for the future. They don't have to make the children under 18 a millionaire. About half of the population is adults so up would only have to spend about 200 or 300 billion dollars. That is a lot less than a $1,000,000,000,000. Thats a lot of zeros. Don't you think?
I think that spending 1 million dollors a day for a year would be too much for me to spend. I think that if I could do it, then I would help out any of my family members. Make sure they all have good health so they can live a long time. Then I would buy myself stuff.

A million dollars a day is like a dream come true! To spend that much everyday of my life, I wouldn't know where to start, but I wouldn't have a problem about stopping because I don't think in my life I would run out of money!
I do know that I would try to help out our community and our future in this country by spending the money on something that the people need, not what people want.

If I had to spend one million dollars a day, I would move to California, buy a house attach all my favorite stores, a spa, and a hair cutting place to my house. Then I would go Africa and help AIDS orphans and spend all my money there.
If I had a trillon dollars first I'd go to Japan and Italy and buy up a million CDs and Anime products that you can only get there or from Ebay, which I'm not allowed to use. Then I'd give it to the people and countries who need it and school funding, because me school really needs and update in things like technology, and heat that goes ALL around the school.

I would give half of it to charity, then I would give half of whats left to my town and state, and the other half to the U.S. government. The next day, I would give all the money to the people of the U.S. so it could jumpstart our economy, and I would keep switching every day for a year.

I would do what congress is planning on doing with it. We need to improve this country's failing infrasructure, then invest it in industry (we need new innovative ways to produce goods with "Proudly made in America" stickers on them), then showing all the other countries whos boss by investing billions into education (college grants, funding for school districts). Well, if I had a million dollars every day I would feed and house every homeless person in America. Instead of trying to fix parks, like the government is trying to do. Simple economic stimulous. Give every american the home they currently live in. If they are homeless give them one. We have a right to a roof over our head. WE have surplus numbers of homes. This would allow americans to have money to spend on cars and things that would bring americans back to work. Sure some will sit home and do nothing. Sure some will work to buy a better house. Sure some wealthy will hate this redistribution of wealth but surely no one will suffer. WE as a country will rise together and we will fall together if we stop thinking of ourselves and start thinking for what works for the nation. Giving money to the banks who started this big real estate pyramid scheme and walked away with millions of government money for bonuses should be tried in court. It is a crime their greed. $1 trillion? Absolutely impossible. One person could not have that much money at one time. Althought the U.S. most likely has around $12 trillion at the moment, why dont we ask a few questions: What is going to happen when the number keep increasing? How are we going to pay off the immense debt? What is going to happen to us?

I would buy every one I know there dream car. For me a 2009 Dodge Caliber (No it is NOT a grandma car!!) Then I'd buy a ranch and more horses for it. I would build a big house and put up big pastures for all of my animals...Then I would have to buy food for them. I would go to college and after I had the things I needed I would just save some and donate some to worth while causes. I think the first thing i would do with it is probably donate money to hospitals and poor schools. Then i would think about our friends and families that don't have a dad or husband and give it to them, then i would think of buying things for me. A house, clothes, food, and things like that. Then i would put some in my college and save a couple million for a special occasion.

I would probably have everything I would want in the first week, so after that, I would probably donate the money and give some to family and friends. If I have some money left over, I would either put it in the bank or buy more houses to rent and get more money. I would also buy some cars that are both luxury and sporty. I definitely can spend $1 million everyday.
I don’t think you could spend a trillion dollars. Even if you had that kind of money. Where did you get the money? Where is the money coming from? If we keep spending how are we going to get out of the hole we are digging if we keep spending more and more money. What is the future going to hold for us if the economic is bad?
One year of $1 million a day? That’s insane! I wouldn’t be able to spend that without some feeling of unwillingness. If it were me, I would save some of that money in a bank account but then buy college, donate to some charities and then definitely get more musical equipment.
if its going to help our economy, i guess its something we could do. but if this is something that were going to have to do year after year, which we have been doing, then i think were just going to ebd up with more problems.

There is no way I would be able to spend a million dollars every day of the year. I would have to donate most of it to use it up every day. however, I think I could buy a few sports cars here and there, but if you give a little bit of it to a lot of people, then that's one way to help the economy.

If I had one million dollars to spend everyday I could do it. First I would buy some crazy house with a lot of land and pay it off within about 50 to 100 days. Then I would buy a golf course for my family. I would put enough for any sports tickets I would ever want. And I would probably invest in Apple or Microsoft firguring that they've got to get better sometime.

I would probably move out of my house (with my fam, of course!!) and buy a bigger house for us. Also, my bro will be getting his driver's liscense in August, so I would probably buy him the car of his dreams, and pay for gas (cause he'll probably be driving my around most of the time). I would also buy myself, mom, and dad new cars, and just keep mine until I turn 16. The rest would probably either go to my school or the local animal shelter. Either way, to a good cause!!

Red Cross. I think that the government should really consider the package before passing it because it needs to include everything that is critically important we can't just go spending a trillion dollars on anything. I probably couldn't do it!

I think that we could spend a trillion dollars. We could use it to pay off bills, expand our school, put in a new track, and many other things. We would probably give some to charity as well. We could help others who are less fortunate.

I could! Not on myself of course, but there are millions and millions of awesome causes out there that could benefit from that money. As some people have said before: Wildlife areas, space programs, poor communities, and medical clinics! Especially the medical clinics. I believe we can do anything, as long as we have the money for the research and the resources to do it. We could find a cure for cancer with a trillion dollars, and so much more.
