73-Year-Old Basketball Player

More than five decades after he first played college ball, Ken Mink is back on the court, shooting hoops with guys young enough to be his grandchildren.  It's cool enough to look at, but what we'd like to find out is how you athletes would play him.  Would you take him on like any opponent, or would you go a little easier on him because of his age?  What if you had the chance to deny him a shot:  Would you flat-out reject him, or would you let him take it?

What's the right thing to do when you're on the court with a 73-year-old?

Honestly i think it's amazig that a 73 year old man is capable of playing. I would have to take it a little easy on him cause with my mad skills i might even end up injuring myself and i wouldn't want to take that chance with another person (73 or not), so i would probaly let him take the shot.

I would just play it easy at first to see his skills but then if he is really good; I would play harder and if he is not that good I would play easy.

I think if your in a basket ball court with a 73- year old, then you shouldn't be too rough with him. Not very nice, but not evil 5 year old boy rough.

I think that some player might think he is really weak and mess around with him. But by half-time, they will be begging their coach to switch them with another player!

I think that the 73 Year old basket ball player will be good for the basket ball team, because the other team will under-estimate them. Then the 73 year old will come up from behind and win!!

dont play too rough, but he's probably old enough to know not to throw a fit, so play normal, but no fouls.

    January 25, 2009 at 8:21 pm |
  7. Krystine

I would treat him as any other player. Yes he is old but he has still put in all the practices and work that eachother player on the team has.

  8. Mary

I think I would let him take the shot if he got the chance.. But I wouldn't go all that easy on him

    January 25, 2009 at 8:39 pm |
  9. Sabec

Well first of all he has to be strong if he's playing basket at 73!
i can't even play it. iwould have to say not take him like any opponet but harder than one. He'll probally win any way.

    January 25, 2009 at 10:01 pm |
  10. Jozie

Well I would Tottaly Go hard on him if he has been playing for Many Years But if he went easy on me i would do the same!

    January 25, 2009 at 10:33 pm |
  11. Rick

I wouldn't go easy on him because he wouldn't do it for me. And just because he's old, doesn't mean that he can't keep up with everyone else.

i would do a little of both being nice and having a little fun with him i mean its a basketball game its all in good sports and when you go home you can say you guarding the oldest collage bastekball player

    January 26, 2009 at 5:46 am |
  13. Joyce

I think I would just act like he was just a normal player, and just play the game. He's probably good, since he has a lot of experience in basketball, so I wouldn't go easy on him.

    January 26, 2009 at 5:52 am |
  14. Jamie

I would take it easy on the old timer as i don't want to hur the old man but at the same time i want to win so having the old man wouldb be easier to win the game

    January 26, 2009 at 7:22 am |
  15. Brian

if hes out there playing you treat him like you would any other member of the team.

    January 26, 2009 at 7:31 am |
  16. SeminoleRidge

We think you should play all out. Just don't knock him down.

At first I might go easy on him, but he was doing really well, I would actually try hard.

    January 26, 2009 at 8:03 am |
  18. Jake

If I'd known the guy, there's no way I'd go easy on him. If he had a new
(yet extremely old) face to me, I'd figure it out eventually. Either way, he would crush me.

    January 26, 2009 at 8:04 am |
  19. Beau

It kind of depends on how good he is, if he was good I would try pretty hard but not aggressively. I hate basketball anyway, but I would try kind of hard.

    January 26, 2009 at 8:04 am |
  20. Matt

if i had to guard the 73 year old man i would try to block his shots and treat him like and athlete but im also not the best basket ball player

    January 26, 2009 at 8:05 am |
  21. forest

I think the right thing to do is to treat him with respect and as if he were your friend.

    January 26, 2009 at 8:05 am |
  22. morgan & annie

We would "go all out" on him because even with his age in mind if he wanted an easy game he shouldn't have signed up for COLLAGE basketball.

    January 26, 2009 at 8:05 am |
  23. Brittani

I think that I would go a little bit of easy and then a little bit of going hard on him but mostly easy because he is 73 years old I like old people but old people that play basketball that is just weird to me because I play football with family and friends of my dad it is really fun

    January 26, 2009 at 8:06 am |
  24. Lindsay

I would go a little easy on him but I will treat him like any other player on the team (With kindness of coarse)

    January 26, 2009 at 8:07 am |
  25. kathleen

I would treat him the same as the others and make him feel like he could do what he had to finish for a long time ago.

    January 26, 2009 at 8:07 am |
  26. Colin

I think that its cool that there is a 73 year old and that he is physically able to play basketball and i would back off him unless he was really good and he was beating me every time

    January 26, 2009 at 8:08 am |
  27. alex

i think its coo that he plays bball

    January 26, 2009 at 8:26 am |

well i can not beleve that he is 73 years old and he plays basketball that is so amazing.

    January 26, 2009 at 8:37 am |
  30. David

i would let him play for sure. I might accidently go easy on him just because his age but i wouldnt try for sure. If he was really good then i would even think about it. I would block any shot if I could.

    January 26, 2009 at 8:38 am |
  31. Brett

I think that it is great. I love the fact that old people can still do stuff like play sports and go to the store and things like that. It really shows that we cares about his stuff and that people care about his stuff and he can also serve as an influwence to older people who for the most part would never go out and play something like basketball because they can get shot.

    January 26, 2009 at 8:39 am |
  32. Sammy

If he came off as a respectable guy who showed character, and sportsmanship, I would go easier on him than if he came off cocky and arrogant

    January 26, 2009 at 8:50 am |
  33. Zack

I would most defiantly go hard, spite the fact that he is a 73 years old, because he has wanted to do this for 50-something years. He's going all out why shouldn't I?

    January 26, 2009 at 8:51 am |
  34. Chamberlain

If I was playing basketball against Mink, I would probably be temped to go easier on him. But I think that Mink would want to be treated the same as everyone else, so I would try to not single him out.

  37. Mrs. Spivey's TV Production

I would play hard, but try not to foul or hurt him. He is still an elder. You don't beat up old people if you have any respect. He is there to live out his dream, it's great to be supportive of others dreams when you can. What goes around comes around.

    January 26, 2009 at 9:20 am |
  38. Michael

If it were me, I would play the exact same as if he was a normal player. Just because he is old doesn’t necessarily mean he deserves mercy shots. Personally, I would actually prefer people to play like I was an actual player if I was 73 and I’m sure he feels the same way.

    January 26, 2009 at 9:21 am |
  39. Jared

If I was on a basketball team and was playing against a 73 year-old I think I would lay off a little bit and let him take his shots and make passes. I think if I tried really hard and he didn’t get do anything I would feel bad because he is just doing this to fullfil a life long dream. The only situation I would try in would be if it was a big game and the score was close. Other than that I would just let the man have a good time and score a couple points probably.

    January 26, 2009 at 9:22 am |
  40. Anonymous

I would take it easy on him on first, but once he gets warmed up and in the lead a little I'd start playing my best.

    January 26, 2009 at 9:24 am |
  41. Joshua

When playing a 73 year old on the court. I would think if he healthy to play basketball. Then its ok for you not to take it easy on him and play as you normally would if you were playing someone that is the same age as you.

I would want to wait to see if he was aggressive or a good player and if he was then I would go all out but if he was kind of slow and stuff then I would probably be kind of easy on him. THAT IS SOOOO KEWL THO!!!!!! HES 73 AND HE STILL PLAYS BASKETBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!! woot woot!

    January 26, 2009 at 9:25 am |
  44. jayson

Well you wouldnt want him to think your going easy on him so i would maybe try to make him think i was trying but not reject him.

    January 26, 2009 at 9:25 am |
  45. Joey

let us see. Personily I would not go hard on him because he is 73 years old and he might hurt himself if I was going to hard

    January 26, 2009 at 9:26 am |
  46. jackie

I think it’s pretty cool how he’s on a college team and actually scored. But I would not take him easy; I would play him like any other player. I’m sure he wouldn’t want me to play him easy. It would be a fun person to play!

    January 26, 2009 at 9:26 am |
  47. JUSTIN

I wouldn't know whether to go easy on him or play really hard with him. If someone played easy on him, he might think that other people pity him. But, if someone played really rough with him he might feel out of his league and feel bad.

    January 26, 2009 at 9:27 am |
  48. Courtney

I think that is so cool that he was the oldest person to ever score in a game. And I am really happy for him that he got a phone call to join a team. And he was inisint! how fair was that?!!!??? All those years with no basketball, the sport he loved most of all.

    January 26, 2009 at 9:27 am |
  49. Meriel

I would let him take the shot because he's 73 and I probably wouldn't think he would make the shot anyways. Maybe if I saw he was really good then I wouldn't let him. And I don't think I would know what to do if I was playing against a 73 year old.

    January 26, 2009 at 9:28 am |
  50. Addie and Melanie

I think the players should give there 100% . If they don't try there hardest on the man, then the man shouldn't be playing college basketball.

    January 26, 2009 at 9:28 am |
  51. rachel

I would have to take pity on the old guy and not play to hard against him....!!!!!

    January 26, 2009 at 9:28 am |
  52. Moamen

i think that the best thing to do is to go a little easier on him because of his age. But in the mean time i would take into consideration that he is still an opponent to me and not go too easy on him.But since im going a little easy on him I would do the best to go really harsh on his team mates which are also opponents to me.

    January 26, 2009 at 9:29 am |
  53. Kota

I wouldn't go easy on ken because he don't think that he's too old to play B-ball and so he must be in well enough shape to play

    January 26, 2009 at 9:29 am |
  54. Izze/Sayer

I hate basketball anyways (im a hockey player) and Carl do something about hockey sometime that would be awesome thanks by by Izze

I dont like basetball either but i think its great for an oldy to do what he wants to do and yes do some thing about hockey i love hockey and me and a few other kid in the school do to and my school is a Basketball/soccer school and it very boring yes Hockey is better. Sayer

    January 26, 2009 at 9:29 am |
  55. Aimee

I would take it easy on him on first, but once he gets warmed up and in the lead a little, I'd start playing my best. i would let him take the shot, he only has a few more years to play and so I'd let him have his chance while he still can.

    January 26, 2009 at 9:30 am |
  56. Jesse

How hard I play him would depend on how the game goes. If his team is winning, I may play more seriously; but if his team is losing, I may take it easy. It is all about balance. But even if I played with him seriously, I would probably do nothing good since he has experience in basketball. He might have better lungs than I do. What I can say is that I am not good at basketball.

    January 26, 2009 at 9:31 am |
  57. Kayla

I think it is pretty cool to let a 73 year old man follow his dreams after the accident of what happened when he was in college. I believe he should be treated the same as all the other basketball players on the team; the coach put him on there why treat him differently? just because he is older doesnt mean he still cant move as well as some of them, heck he could be in amazing shape for his age!

    January 26, 2009 at 9:32 am |
  58. Emma

I would go 100% on Ken. He did play when he was younger, and he wouldn't try to play on a COLLEGE team if he was not absolutely sure that he could compete with these guys. I don't think he persuaded this team to have him only to be treated like he's 100 years old.

    January 26, 2009 at 9:55 am |
  59. Gabby

people like him should not play bball because he could break his back or something

    January 26, 2009 at 10:03 am |
  60. Austyn

Ken is 73 and is still playing basketball I think that is really neat. Just because he is elder does not mean he can play basketball as well as the other guys. I seen how he has played in the video and I do not think I would want to go against him. It is amazing how well he can play at 73 years old.

    January 26, 2009 at 10:07 am |
  61. Wong

If I was the coach, I wouldn't reject him. And I'd go 100% on Ken. He played when he was younger and he wouldn't try to play on a college team if he wasn't absolutely sure that he could compete with these guys.

    January 26, 2009 at 10:07 am |
  62. Alexander

I would go all out. If he's still playing then he has to be pretty good. I would test him to see just how good he was.

    January 26, 2009 at 10:07 am |
  63. Frank

why would he want to play b-ball at 73. i wouldn't play i would sit there and watch tv. if i had to play him i would not take it easy on him

  64. chris

I think it's a great that a man is willing to go for his goals, no matter his age. I think I can still take him!

    January 26, 2009 at 10:08 am |
  65. Josh

Thats awesome how a guy can be 73-years-old and still kickinʻ. Thats an great accomplishment for someone to have. I hope that I can be that old and achieve a goal like being the oldest b-ball player to score a point. I give that guy credit, that would be cool if he can go pro though...

    January 26, 2009 at 10:09 am |
  66. Brittney

Age shouldn't matter when it comes to talent. just play like he is one of your friends, if he's good give him a shot to prove him self. You shouldn't not give him the ball or anything like that because he might be just as good as you.

    January 26, 2009 at 10:10 am |
  67. Devin

I think that i would take a easy on him but at the same time i would welcome him to the big dogs

    January 26, 2009 at 10:10 am |
  68. Mrs. Adam's Enrichment Class

We all think that it was funny and he should keep playing. We still can't believe that he hasn't broken a hip or something like that. He should quit before he hurts himself badly.

    January 26, 2009 at 10:11 am |
  69. Crystal

I think it is cool that Roane State aloud him to play on there team. I think it is pretty cool to let a 73 year old man follow his dreams after the accident of what happened when he was in college. Even if I played my hardest he would smoke me!! He is in good shape for his age.

    January 26, 2009 at 10:12 am |
  70. Brittany

If I had to play him I would at first be easy to see how he plays. But if he was rough then I would play him as if he was my own age. If they can take it then was is the point in baby someone? There is no point.

    January 26, 2009 at 10:12 am |
  71. brady

No I wouldn't take it easy on him. He shouldn't of done that prank back in his day. Then he would of played when he was in his prime.

    January 26, 2009 at 10:13 am |
  72. cameron

i would school him.but i might let him get a shot off.

  73. Ms. G's 3rd Period - Coral Reef Senior High - Miami, FL

To respect his on-the-court skills, he will be treated like any other opponent. Which means....we will play all out.

    January 26, 2009 at 10:23 am |
  74. TJ

If he wants the full experience of basketball...
and i was guarding him i wouldn't take it easy on him....

He may be old but hes got game I would go all out It may be weird like playing my grandfather but who cares

    January 26, 2009 at 10:33 am |
  76. Chang

My first instinct would be to go easy on him but after a while of seeing him score i would probably go ALL OUT BABY! Oh and i think you could take him carl.

    January 26, 2009 at 10:33 am |
  77. Lucas

I would play just as hard. It's his dedecision to play.

    January 26, 2009 at 10:33 am |
  78. Haily

I say try as hard as you normally would, he made it on the team, he must be good. Right?

    January 26, 2009 at 10:35 am |
  79. Michael

It would definitely depend on how good the player was. If the player was really good at basketball I would definitely not take it easy on him. But if they were sending out someone who was below average, I would probably take it easy on him a little.

    January 26, 2009 at 10:49 am |
  80. Robert

I think the right thing to do would be to play against him just like you would play against anyone else. If he wanted to be played gently he would not have tried to get back into college basketball. He should know what to expect playing against a bunch of guys that truly love their sport.

    January 26, 2009 at 10:51 am |
  81. Ashley

Well honestly I would more than likely take him on like another regular opponent with some exceptions. I probably wouldnt be so rough on him and wouldnt really guard him as heavily. But i would block his shots and keep him from getting the ball.

    January 26, 2009 at 10:52 am |
  82. Sean

f he thinks that he is capable of playing college basketball then you must go 100%. Age should not considered in the matter. As former Kansas City Chiefs coach Herman Edwards said “You play to win the game”. So that means going 100%, 100% of the time.

    January 26, 2009 at 10:52 am |
  83. Ross

I think the right thing to do, would be to take it easy on the man. But, knowing what his teammates said about him, I wouldn’t do that. I would play normally, and play to win. That would be what the man would want, good old fashioned competition.

    January 26, 2009 at 10:52 am |
  84. Tyler

I probably wouldn't play defense as hard as I normally would on him, but I wouldn't just let him shoot either. I'd feel somewhat guilty if I just completely embarrassed a 73 year old man.

    January 26, 2009 at 10:52 am |
  85. summer

A seventy three year old man playing basketball, thats cool. To be honest hes the one who wanted to be on the team, so i would not be nice about it. I would use my skills and hope he can keep up. Im not trying to be rude but we should have to almost lose because hes a little bit older than me. All i can say is Good Luck!

    January 26, 2009 at 10:55 am |
  86. Adam

If I were to go against Ken, I wouldn't go easy on him. He's really good, even though his skin bounces more than the ball.

    January 26, 2009 at 10:57 am |
  87. Jordan

i would probably be like how are you sir then score on em. lol

    January 26, 2009 at 11:31 am |

I would go tough on him because he is still a basketball player and I wouldnt take it easy on a regular basketball player

    January 26, 2009 at 11:31 am |

I would try my hardest against him because I'm not that good anyway. Good luck to him.

    January 26, 2009 at 11:31 am |

I would play basketball with him like I would play normally because it doesn't matter on you age.

I would dunk on him, and laugh at him when he is on the ground.

  94. Teacher Nicci's Class, East Mesa Juvenile Detention Facility

Our class feels that we should not take it easy on him just because of his age. This is because he still wants to play college ball. If he wants people to take it easy on him then he should go to the senior rec center. One student is kind of shocked at his age but is impressed by his performance.

    January 26, 2009 at 12:19 pm |
  95. Symphony

At first I would go easy on him but then I would go all out.

    January 26, 2009 at 12:25 pm |
  96. Aziza

I would not go easy on him. I doubt they would put a 73 year old man on a basketball team if he didn't have some serious skills. Bring it on!

    January 26, 2009 at 12:26 pm |
  97. Carlos

i'll make it seem like im going to block the shot but because i have such a loving heart i would let him take the shot....i mean come on the guys old
but if i tried i could ball 'em up haha!

I think that is cool that a 73 year old can play basketball.

    January 26, 2009 at 12:32 pm |
  101. Courtney F

Well I don't see why id be on the courts with an 73 year old anytime soon, but I would give it my all. If the elderly guys bring there A game then so will I. everyone deserves a fair chance. Right?

    January 26, 2009 at 12:34 pm |
  102. Deanna

i think that having a 73 year old basketball player can be fun b/c he has a lot of knowlwedge about the game but then her might break a bone easier than a regular basketball player :] lol I LOVE YOU CARL!!!!!!!!!!!!

    January 26, 2009 at 12:34 pm |
  103. Saran

I think that old people should still be able to have fun by doing things they did back in their day!!

    January 26, 2009 at 12:35 pm |
  104. kara

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥He is really awesome and some people that age cant even get out of their own bed or house. But I would play just as hard against him because if he can play than we can play against him.♥☻♣☺

    January 26, 2009 at 12:38 pm |
  105. Mrs. E's Class

My 8th grade class voted, and all students said they would play 100% against a 73 year old man. I guess they are pretty competitive.

    January 26, 2009 at 12:38 pm |
  106. Miss Becker's Middle School Social Studies Class

Our class took a vote! We would play "all out" on him.
PS Don't break a hip! We were inspired by him!

    January 26, 2009 at 12:45 pm |
  107. B.C.

I would let him take a shot, it is amazing that a 73 year old is playing in basketball, I am just surprised he is not injured.

    January 26, 2009 at 12:57 pm |
  108. Marcus

I would guard him like Rja Bell

    January 26, 2009 at 12:59 pm |
  109. Ms. G's 5th Period

We will have to play him like they played in old school; which means we would have to play it all out and go hard on him.

    January 26, 2009 at 1:02 pm |
  110. hannah

i would beause he is a lot older than me and i am not very good at basketball any ways so he would probably .

    January 26, 2009 at 1:10 pm |
  111. Gage

It is the same thing as you doing your job Carl, if you dont do good you lose it, so i would play as hard as possible on him so i could keep my job.

    January 26, 2009 at 1:12 pm |
  112. Gonzalez

My 3rd Block Government class say that we should play fair but not to an extreme. In other words, not too easy and not too hard. He has all the right to play the game; after all, he made the team.

    January 26, 2009 at 1:20 pm |
  113. HaNnAh

The old man has got it going on. He would probaly beat me any ways so who cares!!!

    January 26, 2009 at 1:21 pm |
  114. Makae,Tara

We would treat him evenly.Once we get to know him we'll probably play with him a little tougher. We think that it's cool that a 73 year old man is playing basketball.

    January 26, 2009 at 1:23 pm |
  115. Brant

i would take it hard on him cause if he wants to play with the boys he better learn how so yea. he shouldnt be playing to begin with he is to old

    January 26, 2009 at 1:24 pm |
  116. Thorin

You shouldn't let him have no regret. If he wants to play with the big boys, he has to be treated like a big boy.

    January 26, 2009 at 1:25 pm |
  117. James

Well Carl he's very good for his age so i might take it easy on him but if he starts beating me im gonna step my game up

    January 26, 2009 at 1:27 pm |
  118. Ms. Hills' Social Studies Class

We think it would be horrible if the 73-year old fell or hurt himself, so we would go easy on him.

    January 26, 2009 at 1:27 pm |
  119. John

I would kind of play in the middle. I would play all out but I wouldn't get all rough with him. It is his choice, he must know what could happen, and I'd try as hard as I could to not be so rough and smash him around. Although I'd still play my hardest but lay off him a little.

    January 26, 2009 at 1:29 pm |
  120. caroline

    I WOULD GO ALL OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    January 26, 2009 at 1:29 pm |
  121. Kate

I think I might be easy on him but if he seemed really strong then go all out on him to win the game.

    January 26, 2009 at 1:30 pm |
  122. Teto

I dont think that the right thing to do would be to go easy on him, but I think that if i was guarding him, there would be no way to stop myself from going easy.

    January 26, 2009 at 1:30 pm |
  123. Ace

    i would try my hardest

    January 26, 2009 at 1:30 pm |
  124. Anabel

I think that if I was playing against him in a basketball game I would go all out because he probably wants to have someone to go against him. Not just having them take it easy.

    January 26, 2009 at 1:31 pm |
  125. chandler

I would definitely play all out on him. If he wanted to play college basketball he would be just like all of the other guys on the team.

    January 26, 2009 at 1:31 pm |
  126. Ben

I think I would guard him depending on how good he is supposed to be. Like if he was the best on the team, I would guard him as hard as I could. But otherwise I would just guard him sort of medium.

    January 26, 2009 at 1:32 pm |
  127. Matt

I would probably ask him whether to play all out or to play easier. It certainly isn't everyday that you would come across a 73 year old in a basketball game! I think it is great that someone so old would be allowed to play basketball, because he could get injured or something like that.

    January 26, 2009 at 1:33 pm |
  128. Homie

I wouldn't go easy on him. I probably sound mean but my dad is 52 and he is soooo much faster than me in swimming. This just shows that old guys can do stuff to!!!!:) 🙂 :::))))
    😀

    January 26, 2009 at 1:33 pm |
  129. ginger

I think that if I was garding some one who is 73 years old I would take it easy on them, becuase I wouldn,t think that they would play that hard.

    January 26, 2009 at 1:33 pm |
  130. HANNAH!!!!!

Wow. That's soooo cool!!! I think that I would go easy at first and then realize how good he was and go "all out" He should have the rights to try everything that he wanted to 🙂

    January 26, 2009 at 1:34 pm |
  131. garrett

I think I would treat him like a normal college basketball player because hes out there like a regular basketball player. it would be embarrassing if he won the game.

    January 26, 2009 at 1:44 pm |
  132. Beau

I would treat him just like anyother player, beacause he doesn't want to be treated like someone else. He just wants to play the game

    January 26, 2009 at 1:44 pm |
  133. Amber

I would play him like any other opponent. Even though he is old, it was his choice to play.

    January 26, 2009 at 1:45 pm |
  134. Ashley

I think it's cool that a 73 year old man is out there playing basketball.. but I think I would go all out and just play him like I would when I play anyone else.. I would be a little embarrassed if he wins but I think I will live

    January 26, 2009 at 1:47 pm |
  135. parker

I don't know. It would depend if he was really good or not. If he was doing really good, I'd play like I normally would. If he was having trouble, I'd let up for him.

    January 26, 2009 at 1:50 pm |
  136. J

If i was guarding Ken I think that I would play the same as I usually would. I mean, it would be really embarrassing if he scored the winning point because of me. Also, if he wants to play college basketball then that's what he is going to play. I shouldn't lower my goals just for his.

    January 26, 2009 at 1:50 pm |
  137. connor

I would go all out i don't care if he is 73 years old thats his problem if he is not that good. I play basketball and if there good or bad I still go all out.

    January 26, 2009 at 1:51 pm |
  138. Jakob

I would play rough with him because he chose to play, so it would be on!

    January 26, 2009 at 1:56 pm |
  139. Mr. Nunez

All of the students in my 4B English class said that anyone who steps onto the court is fair game...

    January 26, 2009 at 2:14 pm |
  140. Jenna

I think you should play all out, this guy is 73 and has all that wisdom, I think you should play him like he was another college student. I'd rather be beaten because he is such a good player, not because I went to easy on him.

    January 26, 2009 at 2:19 pm |
  141. Haley

I would not give him any mercy!

    January 26, 2009 at 2:19 pm |
  142. Joe

I think you should hold back so you don't hurt him. I would feel bad if I put an old guy in the hospital!

    January 26, 2009 at 2:20 pm |
  143. Mrs. DaQuanno

As a fifty-three year old, I am very impressed with Mr. Mink. If I could still jump, I would deny him the shot.

    By-the-way, seventy-three is not old.

    January 26, 2009 at 2:21 pm |
  144. Haley

I would give him no mercy!!

    January 26, 2009 at 2:21 pm |
  145. Luis

If I played against him, I would play full out – just because he's old doesn't mean he can't take it. Plus, he should be respected because of his basketball skills.

    January 26, 2009 at 2:48 pm |
  146. Sarah

I would play the same because it isn't fair for a player the same age if I give an older guy an advantage. If he is on the tema he must be good or else he wouldn't be able to play anyway.

    January 26, 2009 at 2:54 pm |
  147. Ms. Missele and her A block

    Hey Carl,

Almost everyone in my class says they would play normal. They say it doesn't matter how old he is, you should always play your hardest.

    Thanks,
Ms. Missele and her A block

    January 26, 2009 at 3:05 pm |
  148. Jimmy

I don't know about me, but I think you could take him Carl!

    January 26, 2009 at 3:15 pm |
  149. Mr. Koczot's Classes

Carl – I have some students that said – they would take it easy on the 73 year old Ken, but if that was you out there – they said they would dance all around you, and SCHOOL you on the court.

Those are my students for ya –

    Mr.Koczot

    January 26, 2009 at 3:27 pm |
  150. Mrs. DeJute's Class

We wouldn't take it easy on a 73 year old basketball player. After all, if he is good enough to play on a college team he should be able to take the heat! Now, if Carl was our opponent, we'd let him have it!

    January 26, 2009 at 3:33 pm |
  151. joshua

i would go my hardest even if he was100 he could still be good and i wouldn't like to be scored on by an old guy.

    January 26, 2009 at 4:11 pm |
  152. THE BEAST

I think that is so cool that a 73 yr old man is playing college b-ball.
    Carl is so awesome.

    January 26, 2009 at 4:34 pm |
  153. jake

I think it is pretty cool that a 73 year old man can play a little b-ball. But who cares if he is 73 or 23. not me! game on!

    January 26, 2009 at 4:34 pm |
  154. emily

i think that it is awsome to have a 73 year old guy playing on a basketball team. I would play it easy on the guy.

    January 26, 2009 at 4:35 pm |
  155. Andre

Ummm...... You know what I wouldn't go easy on him because he may develop some trickery on me and I don't want that to happen. Also, size or age doesn't matter.

    January 26, 2009 at 4:37 pm |
  156. Kristopher

I Will take him on like a Younger Person. He Seems Like the healthy Man that can stand against Anyone thats Playing Him in a Basketball Game.

    January 26, 2009 at 4:37 pm |
  157. turner

i think its amazing that a dude that old can still play basketball

    January 26, 2009 at 4:47 pm |
  158. Adriana

I would go easy on him because he is old and i really cant play basketball. Plus he could break a bone really easily and I would feel bad if I were the one who caused his injury.

    January 26, 2009 at 4:52 pm |
  159. Viet

Even though im not a very good basketball player, I'd still guard him like I would any other person, but without the shoving, pushing, or rough play, of course.

    January 26, 2009 at 4:54 pm |
  160. Anonymous

I would play easier on him. I would let hime shoot the ball.

    January 26, 2009 at 5:06 pm |
  161. Andrew

I would go the same on him even no he is 73

    January 26, 2009 at 5:21 pm |
  162. CALVIN

    geser got game full on

    January 26, 2009 at 5:31 pm |
  163. Zachari

I'd do my best. Cause c'mon! A 73 year old that good? what would you do Carl?

    January 26, 2009 at 5:32 pm |
  164. lindsey

I would play normally but I wouldn't want to hurt him!

    January 26, 2009 at 5:32 pm |
  165. Carlos

I would take it easy on him.

    January 26, 2009 at 5:33 pm |
  166. Lizzy

I guess I would take it easy on him, 'cause I REALLY don't want to hurt a 73 year old, but you shouldn't judge a book by its cover.....

    January 26, 2009 at 5:33 pm |
  167. sydney

I'm not that good of a player so i think that even if i did do my normal i think he would beat me!

    January 26, 2009 at 5:34 pm |
  168. elizabeth

I think that if a 73 year old guy has the endurance and skill to be on the court with a bunch of college guys, then I think their opponet should go all out. Being out on the court, your asking for some competition and a good game. 😀

    January 26, 2009 at 5:34 pm |
  169. Tedward

If my coach told me to guard a 73 year old I would come at the old man like a spider monkey!

    January 26, 2009 at 5:34 pm |
  170. Edward

I would go easy on him to see if he is good I would go a little harder, but not to hard because of his age but he is in good shape for his age.

    January 26, 2009 at 5:35 pm |
  171. sabrina

I persoally would take it easy, but a 7 foot man would take him down to the ground!!!:)

    January 26, 2009 at 5:35 pm |
  172. Kendall

Dude, if he is 73 and still plays basket ball he's gotta be good

    January 26, 2009 at 5:35 pm |
  173. Tommy

I am fan of basketball but when the gheezers hit the court im still going to go all out.

    January 26, 2009 at 5:36 pm |
  174. Michael:{)

If I were aganist him, then I would take him down! Since he wanted to play basketball at the age of 73, it would be fair! Besides, its his fault!

    January 26, 2009 at 5:36 pm |
  175. Devin

Hey well i dont know about you but he better be woried cause hes old his bones are getting weak but that is cool that he is 73 and kickin it old school.

    January 26, 2009 at 5:37 pm |
  176. Ryan

i think i should go on him both ways because i will start off with playing easy and then once he crush me in a couple of games i will start playing hard on him

    January 26, 2009 at 5:38 pm |
  177. Josh

I think that if i had to play with a 73 year old i would play regular because it looks like he is a really good 73 year old player. This is really good that he is still an active man! This should inspire many elders to get out and play!

    January 26, 2009 at 5:38 pm |
  178. sydney

the 70 year old looks like he is a good player so i think that i would do my best at even though he would beat me!!! :o!!!!

    January 26, 2009 at 5:40 pm |
  179. India

I think it is wonderful that a 73 year-old is playing college basketball! He's the same age as my Grandpa and he can barely take the dog for a walk! He must be really good and in really good shape! If I were playing him I would give it my all for two reasons; 1) I am horrible so I would be no competion for him! 2) If this 73 year-old man is playing college basketball he is obviously good and know what he is doing! Even though I would give it my all I wouldn't want to trip him!

    January 26, 2009 at 5:41 pm |
  180. sydney

    he looks really good :)!!!!!

    January 26, 2009 at 5:42 pm |
  181. Loreen

I personally would go easy on him even though I don't even know how to play hard when it comes to basketball! Plus, who wouldn't go hard on a 73 year old man!

    January 26, 2009 at 5:42 pm |
  182. Michael:{)

I would take HIM DOWN!!!! I mean it is not fair for an old guy to have the advantage of getting an easy play! :{) :{)

    January 26, 2009 at 5:43 pm |
  183. Brandon

I think its cool for older people to follow there
    dreams. he must be cool.

    January 26, 2009 at 5:49 pm |
  184. Lynton

Well depends if he is relly godd because if he is i would go a little hard like cross him up and then go to the basket but thats just me =D

    January 26, 2009 at 5:52 pm |
  185. blake

I think that i would let up untill i find out if hes good. Then i would go all out.

    January 26, 2009 at 5:58 pm |
  186. Hannah

We should never underestimate old people. They have experienced many things than us, so he might be good at basketball than us!

    January 26, 2009 at 6:04 pm |
  187. katie

you should never judge someone on their age even if their 73 so you should never underest- imate someone no matter how old

    January 26, 2009 at 6:18 pm |
  188. JJ

I would go all out on him....... the gramps got skills!!! 🙂

    January 26, 2009 at 6:19 pm |
  189. Emiley

Ken Mink you are truly inspiring! My class watches CNN Student News every day and this probably one of the best storys thus far this year! I probably would take it a litttle easy on Ken because I wouldn't want to be the person that hurt him, but he should know that if he wants to play with kids that could almost be his grandkids that he needs to be a phiscally and mentally prepared as he can possibly be. On the other hand I wouldn't take it too easy because it would be super embarssing to be the person that got schooled by a 73 year old man. One advantage that his age brings him is that he has seen some of the greatest basketball players play. His age brings him knowledge about basketball the most college students probably don't have.

    January 26, 2009 at 6:38 pm |
  190. Ellie

Even though he could be my grandpa, id still play him as if he were my age 'cause he could probably beat me ... i mean who can't say he's got some seriouse B.Ball skills?

    GOOD LUCK KEN!

    January 26, 2009 at 6:38 pm |
  191. Elizabeth and Courtney

I dont know about playing with a 73 year old but if it's Carl then I say BRING IT! I would totally dominate! Hahaha

    January 26, 2009 at 6:53 pm |
  192. Cornelia and Liz

If this man chose to be on the team, then he should know what to expect. If he wants special treatment then he belongs at the Seniors Rec center. I say to do your best and see what happens!

    January 26, 2009 at 6:56 pm |
  193. Bartholomew

I believe he should play because according to my calculations there is only a 32% he will break his hip but you know 63.9% off all statistics are made up on the spot.

    January 26, 2009 at 7:02 pm |
  194. aaron

I think he should be able to play because everyone should be able to have fun no matter what age. its great he's having fun while being so old.

    January 26, 2009 at 7:04 pm |
  195. Megan

I would play just as hard against him as I would anyone else. I'm sure he wants to be treated as an equal to his teammates. I know I would if I was in that situation.

    January 26, 2009 at 7:05 pm |
  196. Kylee

I think that having a 73 year old man on a basketball team would be really fun because you can challenge him and he can challenge you. I would try my hardess to win because he probably would do the same. Everyone is equal!!!!

    January 26, 2009 at 7:07 pm |
  197. Chinaza

I would treat him like any other player. He knows what he got himself into, playing with competitive college kids.

    January 26, 2009 at 7:17 pm |
  198. dulce

i think that it is really great that he still has the spirit of a young teenager. but then i would treat him like the elder that he is because of his health. Well what i really hrink is that if he wants to be treated like a teen then he will, in the court. Outside the court i would respect him a lot, most of all because of the choice that he made, to continue playing no matter what his age is.

    January 26, 2009 at 7:23 pm |
  199. Ana

I wouldn't go very hard on the man because no matter how good he is, he still has a higher risk of getting hurt or sick. I also wouldn't go to easy on him. He is good enough to be on a college team, so he knows the risks and that not many players will go easy on him.

    January 26, 2009 at 7:30 pm |
  200. hunter

Wow. He's amazing. But why go easy on him. I would try to beat the old guy. Just becuase he is old doesn't mean we should let him win. If he is on the team wether he is 73 or in his 20's , he wanted to play so why go easy on him?

    January 26, 2009 at 7:32 pm |
  201. Nikki

I think that if he had the guts to join the team in the first place, then he should play like all the other players on his team. Otherwise he should not have joined the team.

    January 26, 2009 at 7:37 pm |
  202. Tyler

if i played that particular 73 yr. old i would play it out as if he was still 13 because that seems to be the way he wants it. ; )

    January 26, 2009 at 7:40 pm |
  203. breven

I would go all out or easy if I had nothing
    else better to do carl.

    January 26, 2009 at 7:41 pm |
  204. Kitty

I would just play all out. You don't have to cut back because the person your playing against is older.

    January 26, 2009 at 8:07 pm |
  205. Karen

if i had to play with a 73 year old on my team i would treat him like a reguler player on the team.if he plays like a reguler player than whats the big deal.

    January 26, 2009 at 8:14 pm |
  206. Muhammad

who wouldn't want to play a 73 year old? you can dance around him and maybe dunk over him once or twice. He would be like playing shaq. Slowwwwww.

    January 26, 2009 at 8:16 pm |
  207. Tim

It is amazing that one so old can actually play.On the question I think that one should try to play your best but not actually hurt the guy. I mean like go a little easy on him but give it your all. Is that oxymoron-ish?

  208. Kinzy

Umm..I would have to say I would take it easy on the poor old guy....until i knew how he played..and then kick in my mad skills!! lol

    January 26, 2009 at 8:26 pm |
  209. caroline

I think he is so inspiring to all older men and I don't know what I would do on the court...

    January 26, 2009 at 8:32 pm |
  210. Alex

To put it simply I would play like I would any other game. If the dude couldn't play then the coach wouldn't be playing him. The coach may want to give this guy closure, but he knows this is his job and he has to take it seriously so this 73 year old man has earned his playing time and shouldn't be treated any differently.

    January 26, 2009 at 8:34 pm |
  211. Scott

I would go easy on him at first but then I would go hard

    January 26, 2009 at 8:51 pm |
  212. shantal

i wouldn't go easy on him because they would only pick him if he was a really good player and i think i would ever go up againts a senior in my life time

    January 26, 2009 at 9:01 pm |
  213. Kerstan

Go all out, he may be old, but he is still playing with kids, if he wants to play, lets give him a run for his money!

    January 26, 2009 at 9:01 pm |
  214. Zach

It is college basketball. Not a senior citizen home. You would obliviously play all out.

    January 26, 2009 at 9:23 pm |
  215. Rachel

I think that you should play your best with him on the court – really if he was that old and frail, then he really shouldn't be playing basketball. No need to be sympathetic in my mind, but that's your choice 🙂

    January 26, 2009 at 9:23 pm |
  216. chris

The best thing to when guarding a 73 year old man is to stick him hard and good. Let him know how it feels to play college ball.

    January 26, 2009 at 9:26 pm |
  217. Caroline

I think it would be rude to go easy on him because then what is the point of playing the game when you always know you are going to win. I would just think of him as a normal 18 year old collage basketball player. I would play him as any kid would play a friend. Then again it is my opinion.

    January 26, 2009 at 9:30 pm |
  218. Meredith

In basketball, I don't think it matters if you're 73 or 5. If you agree to be on the team, you also agree to be treated the same way as every other member of the team. Therefore, you should get pushed and shoved around just like every other member of the team!

    January 26, 2009 at 9:31 pm |
  219. Kaytlynn

i'm very suprised that a 73 year-old man could even play basketball. I'm also glad that the team mates are treating him well, I think that he should be treated as a regular person instead of an old man like everyone thnks he is.

    January 26, 2009 at 9:38 pm |
  220. Sabrina

i would go hard on him because if i go easy on him him he might win

    January 26, 2009 at 9:41 pm |
  221. Eli

This guy is crazy but I'll say he has A lot of spirt..dude

    January 26, 2009 at 9:44 pm |
  222. Dalton

i think that it is good for older people to get out of the houes and go play.but thats just my opinion

    January 26, 2009 at 9:49 pm |
  223. Mallory

If I played Ken, I would push and block him just like I do to every other player. Just because he's older doesn't make him different.

    January 26, 2009 at 9:53 pm |
  224. Carrie

I would personally give the elderly man an advantage, but as my skills are not superb, I wouldn't need to be slacking too much. In that position, I would most likely play it easy and let the man take the shot. He is out on the court to fufill his dreams. It would be a pleasure to help make those dreams come true.

    January 26, 2009 at 10:00 pm |
  225. Lauren

I think it would depend on if he were very competitive or not... but I would feel bad, ok here is another but. But he did decide to get on the team. well i have mixed feelings about it ok BYE 8)

    January 26, 2009 at 10:01 pm |
  226. Mark

I would thank him on like any other opponent. We need to make him feel comftrable playing along.

    January 26, 2009 at 10:02 pm |
  227. Mark

Respect your Elders ! thats all

    January 26, 2009 at 10:05 pm |
  228. Michael

I hope this guy plays as long as his heart desires, but he has to be careful.. the older you get, you also get closer to the well known statement, "Help, I have fallen and I can't get up!"

I wish him luck, though. Keep Going Strong.

    Michael

    January 26, 2009 at 10:14 pm |
  229. Haley

He made the team, he must be good, right? Just because he's kinda old does'nt mean you should play easy on him!
    :-))))))))))))))))))))

    January 26, 2009 at 10:16 pm |
  230. Ben

If the guy's got game, I would probably go my hardest on him. He wanted to join, and, you don't want to make him feel like he's guilting everyone into letting him win,

    January 26, 2009 at 10:18 pm |
  231. Felicia

I would go easy on him, respect your elders right?

    January 26, 2009 at 10:26 pm |
  232. Hale

Well I don't know him and how good he is so, I would play how I normally would! Ohh- and Carl... Luv the cheesy jokes!!! 🙂

    January 26, 2009 at 10:29 pm |
  233. Brian

I would take it easy at first to see how good he is, then get serious.

    January 26, 2009 at 11:42 pm |
  234. chase

I would go full out do the best I can because he is a good basketball player and i know I would loose because i suck at basketball but that was awesome to see someone that old play really good. 🙂

    January 27, 2009 at 12:02 am |
  235. JAKE

i would prob go just as hard on him as any other player .........but since hes 73 if gives my grandad a reason to move more offen

    January 27, 2009 at 1:35 am |
  236. Connor

I would first take it easy but if he kicked my butt I would play my hardest.

    January 27, 2009 at 8:09 am |
  237. Teddy Bear

He was a inspirational story it is great to see that kind of determination.

    January 27, 2009 at 8:10 am |
  238. Aaron

I don't know because if he was doing well and was scoring a lot, then I would most likely not go easy on him.

    January 27, 2009 at 8:10 am |
  239. cassandra

with the way he plays I would give it my all but still be carefull from his age

    January 27, 2009 at 8:10 am |
  240. Kaitlyn

I wouldn't treat him any different then any other player on the court. Sure he's older than all of them, but if he was to frail to play then he probably wouldn't be on the team. So I would just guard him like any other college basketball player.

    January 27, 2009 at 8:11 am |
  241. Jo

I would go all out because I think nobody would like opponents would just go unreasonably easy just because of your age or how you look or something else. He wouldn't like it and your teammates definitely wouldn't either and I think he would want to be challenged and treated as any other person on the team.

    January 27, 2009 at 8:12 am |
  242. Lea

I think it would be kinda rude to go easy on him cause then maybe he would notice and feel like he wasn't as good a some of the other guys. And then maybe he wouldn't want to play anymore. So I would play my hardest on him.

    January 27, 2009 at 8:12 am |
  243. josh

I wouldn't go easy on him he isn't different from us and if i went easy on him he would totally beat me. I'm not bad I am just twelve

    January 27, 2009 at 8:12 am |
  244. Brittany

If I were the opponent of that team I would treat him that he was just one of those younger guys. I wouldn't try to foul him real bad or anything. Although he is out there to accomplish his long time dreams that he has had for a while, but that could cost a whole game for the other team. I would just pretty much treat him like a plain type of basketball player that is playing a game.

    January 27, 2009 at 8:13 am |
  245. Katie

I think that this is both a funny and inspiring story . If had to guard him in a game I think that as first i would be a little careful not to bump him and brake his hip or something like

    January 27, 2009 at 8:21 am |
  246. Maya

i wouldn't take it easy, he's just as good as the others so why go easy on him? If he was really bad i think i still wouldn't go easy on him.

    January 27, 2009 at 8:29 am |
  247. Maya

i would take it easy at first. But if he was doing well and their team was winning then i wouldn't go easy at all!

    January 27, 2009 at 8:30 am |
  248. Daniel

Whether he's 73 or 23, he's still pretty good at basketball for an old geezer, so I would play as hard as I could against him.

    January 27, 2009 at 8:39 am |
  249. Caswell

i would go hard on him because its just like a girl playing football guys are going to go easy on you just because your a girl and just because he is 73 i mean he wanted to play baseket ball his hole life and let him have fun with it!

    January 27, 2009 at 8:53 am |
  250. clark

I would try not to let him get the ball because it would be hard to guard him and not hurt him

    January 27, 2009 at 8:53 am |
  251. joeshmo

i would kind of take it easy on him but not a hole lot because he is a senior citizen.

    January 27, 2009 at 9:25 am |
  252. Espen

I would still try my hardest on him because I cant play basketball very good myself.

    January 27, 2009 at 9:26 am |
  253. Hannah

i would go easy on him so he can feel good about him self but i wouldn't make it obvious that i was. 😀

    January 27, 2009 at 9:26 am |
  254. eric

i think its cool that he has a thing for basketball and he still plays to this daAY when he is 73

    January 27, 2009 at 9:27 am |
  255. Switzer

I hate basketball, so I wouldn't be going against him. If it was football, then I'd try to block him cause you have to treat every player the same.

    January 27, 2009 at 9:27 am |
  256. Nattlez

I think that it is really cool that a guys his age wants to play basketball at a college level, if I had to guard him just like any other player because he just wants to play basketball for fun and not have people go easy on him.

    January 27, 2009 at 9:27 am |
  257. Micah

Dude that guy is a beast I mean how many 73 year olds out there can play basketball, I would definitely let him on my team If I played.

    January 27, 2009 at 9:28 am |
  258. Paige

I think it doesn't matter if you are a 73 year old man, he is playing for fun and that is pretty much what he can do. Don't go easy on him make him have fun, and enjoy the game.

    January 27, 2009 at 9:28 am |
  259. willy

thats beast that he is still playing basket ball at 73 years old but i dont think i would take it easy on him because he did decide to play a hard sport with good basket ball players

    January 27, 2009 at 9:29 am |
  260. kameron

i think that it is good for the team

    January 27, 2009 at 9:29 am |
  261. Moira

I think at first I would take it easy on him and then realize how good he probably is, and once I get use to him i would probably play full out. If I didn't know how old he was I would probably go full out, not knowing that I was guarding a 73 year old. But I think it's really great that someone at his age is so athletic, even more athletic then some 12 year olds!

    January 27, 2009 at 9:29 am |
  262. pierre

i would guard him hard because he could score has much has any other player that's left wide open to shoot.

    January 27, 2009 at 9:55 am |
  263. Shaun

I think that i would block him with all because he looks like he has some moves for an old guy.

    January 27, 2009 at 10:00 am |
  264. Taylor

I wouldn't go easy on him, I would play him like he's the same age as me.

    January 27, 2009 at 10:01 am |
  265. Todd

If wanted to walk out and play with me, he would be just like every one else, he takes a shot I wouldn't hesitate to reject him.

    January 27, 2009 at 10:01 am |
  266. Nick

I think I would go all out on him... An give him a good game because he might be able to beat me.

    January 27, 2009 at 10:02 am |
  267. justin

the first time I would probably let him take it, but if he made I would reject him after that

    January 27, 2009 at 10:03 am |
  268. Emmett

I guard him very tough because there might be something that he has god skills and everything. I would just go all out on him cause you never know.

    January 27, 2009 at 10:03 am |
  269. Anonymous

Oh my gosh i hop that when i am 73 i'm that active because i have good health now and i hop i do for the rest of my life.

    January 27, 2009 at 10:04 am |
  270. christina

I think that if you are 73 and can play basket ball than why not more power to you, but don`t expect people to take an easy on you no matter how old you are.

    January 27, 2009 at 10:05 am |
  271. br00ke

No I probably wouldn't because if he's as good as they say then I wouldn't need to go easy on him he would be able to beat me on his own!!!

    January 27, 2009 at 10:06 am |
  272. DYLAN

Oh my gosh i hop that when i am 73 i'm that active because i have good health now and i hop i do for the rest of my life.

  273. TYLER

Oh my gosh i hop that when i am 73 i'm BALLIN like that because i have good health now and i hop i do for the rest of my life.

    January 27, 2009 at 10:08 am |
  274. Devon

After watching his skills. I would go flat out hard on him. Even though I think he is better than me because he has played long. I think he could beat me pretty bad if he was at the line all day

    January 27, 2009 at 10:08 am |
  275. Drew

I would like to have a 73 year old man on my basketball team because it be soooooooooooooooooooooo funny to have a 73 year old man on the team.

    January 27, 2009 at 10:10 am |
  276. OWEN

Hey Guys what did will posts just wondering. I think that there should be a 73 year old guy on a basketball team he has just a shot as anybody else

    January 27, 2009 at 10:19 am |
  277. Hannah

I don't think other teams should go easy on him because he wants to be on and collage team so he should play just as hard as them if that makes sense?

    January 27, 2009 at 10:22 am |
  278. Gabe

I would go easy on him. Have you ever heard of respect your elders. Cut the guy some slack i mean come on.

    January 27, 2009 at 10:50 am |
  279. Taylor

I dont think that I would flat out reject him, but if I were to play basketball then we would all be looking for the same chance to shine. If I had already made a big play, the I would let him make the shot.

    January 27, 2009 at 10:57 am |
  280. Michael

Man I would destory this man I would dunk shoot and layup on him all day then I would block all his shot but one so he can fell good about himself

    January 27, 2009 at 11:03 am |
  281. LaQundra

Thats not cool because thats somebody granddad and dad and if he get hurt they goin to blame it on the coach becuse he got the man still playin on the team he need to retie

    January 27, 2009 at 11:10 am |
  282. Raymecia

Me personally if he were my opponent I would take it easy on him because i wouldn't be able to deal with it, if I were a cause of a major injury

    January 27, 2009 at 11:10 am |
  283. Kiara

I think its great that a 73- year old man can still can play basketball with younger people. Most old men couldnt even do that, but if I were playing him i think i would go easy on him and let him take some shots. I think i would be faster than him so i probably could do as much.....

    January 27, 2009 at 11:13 am |
  284. Khris

I think that its awsome to have someone that old on your team i cant believe it either though. a 73 year old basketball player would be cool especialy when your that old im gonna wait till im 74 and then score a basket so i can break his record lol

    January 27, 2009 at 12:38 pm |
  285. Jose

Personally if I were 73 i would not be playin b-ball i would be retired somewhere and have an easy life, but then again that was his dream so i say GOOD JOB!

    January 27, 2009 at 12:42 pm |
  286. john

i think its cool because they guy is 73 years old and yet still in shape enough to play a sport he enjoys.

    January 27, 2009 at 12:43 pm |
  287. Devron

I didn't even know it was posable to play for a college team at such an old age. But since it is, i feel happy for the man that he gets to live his dream and this shows that no matter what if you believe and persue your dreams than they can happen.

    January 27, 2009 at 12:46 pm |
  288. caroline

This is very inspiring to older people and younger ones too. That he is out there fullfilling his dreams sends the message to everyone that you should never give up.

    January 27, 2009 at 12:52 pm |
  289. Mr. Todd

The lesson that I think is so inspiring in this story is how Mr. Mink did not set limits on his dream. He didn't allow thoughts like, "What if people laugh at me?" or "What if I don't fit in?" discourage him. Often, people impose limits on themselves that prevent them from achievements that they have dreamed about.

    January 27, 2009 at 1:11 pm |
  290. mike

it is cool I thinck more aledrs sher be more ativ and play spors

    January 27, 2009 at 1:20 pm |
  291. Josh

Dude, that is wicked cool, I'm sorry to admit it but even I'm not that good on the court!

Carl, are you good at basketball?

    January 27, 2009 at 1:24 pm |
  292. Mckenna

I think that if your on the court with a 73 year old I would take it easy because you wouldn't want to hurt him but I wouldn't be to easy on him because he knows what he's doing.

    January 27, 2009 at 1:26 pm |
  293. Benjamin

Sweet carl you could beat him in a game even know I could take both of U HA HA

    January 27, 2009 at 1:26 pm |
  294. Cody!!!!!!!!

Go Old dude nail the dunk and take it home but yes i would hold off on him

    January 27, 2009 at 1:27 pm |
  295. travis!!!!!

I would play my A game because he is on the team so he can take it.

    January 27, 2009 at 1:29 pm |
  296. osufan70

My grandfather is not even that old! And he is fit but could not play basketball.

    January 27, 2009 at 1:30 pm |
  297. Aryanna

That is like so awsome i'm surprised that he got in the team, man he gots some pretty good college moves if he gets in there now, i'm surprised that he still remembers it cause like i wouldn't if i was old but he does, but old people do remember alot of stuff that had happen when they we're 3-6 years old i hardly remember it HA HA HA very funny Carl

    January 27, 2009 at 1:37 pm |
  298. Justin

I would laught and say lets go

    January 27, 2009 at 1:37 pm |
  299. Haley

GEEEEZE!!!!!!!! lol wow he is kinda old for bball cuz people who play bball are rough a tough

    January 27, 2009 at 1:40 pm |
  300. merrill

Thats cool. I think he needs to hit some threes though.

    January 27, 2009 at 1:40 pm |
  301. izaak

if you think about it he rebrakes the record every time he dunks it, cause he is always aging.

ps. i would play as best i could

    January 27, 2009 at 1:41 pm |
  302. MATT

i would take the ball. I would not go downn in history as the first person to be scored on by the oldest man in basketball

    January 27, 2009 at 1:41 pm |
  303. Grace

I don't think they should go easy on him. He's better at basketball then I am. YOU GO MAN!!!!!

    January 27, 2009 at 1:42 pm |
  304. Aidan

I would push him over, and play as hard as I could. He's old. He probably fought in wars. Must be tough to play with the boys.

Every time he makes a basket, he'll be re-breaking his own record!

I think that it is great that he does what he wants and doesn't let anyone's opinion get in his way.

    January 27, 2009 at 1:42 pm |
  305. Danielle

I wish that i would live to be that old and still play basketball. I mean he is really good and yes.......Carl you might be able to do. Just kidding.. I think that he was so good that he could do lay ups and everything i think that he is a miniature kid that knows how to play basketball.. I think that when i grow up and i play basketball that i am going to play for that long..
I think its great that a 73- year old man can still can play basketball with younger people. Most old men couldnt even do that, but if I were playing him i think i would go easy on him and let him take some shots. I think i would be faster than him so i probably could do as much…..

    January 27, 2009 at 1:43 pm |
  307. Sean

I would so stuff him! I'd play against him like I would anybody. My guess is that I wouldn't even need to play easy against him because he probably won't be charging to the hoop that much, if at all.

    January 27, 2009 at 1:43 pm |
  308. Brooks

If I was playing i would not go easy on him at all. I would play all out on him and own him!!! He would not have a chance cuz I would be going as fast as dash from the incredibles!!! and i wud be strechy like the mommy from the incredibles so i cud dunk!!! like a beastling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    January 27, 2009 at 1:44 pm |
  309. Deldar

I think I would treat him the same as any other person because he probably doesn't wont to be treated like a old guy- even if he is- . 🙂 😛

    January 27, 2009 at 1:45 pm |
  310. Alec

Your a beast dude don't brake a leg

    January 27, 2009 at 1:46 pm |
  312. Sinjun

I think i would guard him but not get too close.... cause if he has a heart attack i don't want him falling on me.

    January 27, 2009 at 1:54 pm |
  313. Brennan

I'd say I would go easy on him but if it was you carl i'd go all out

I respect him living up to his dream, but if i was playing him, then he would be going down!

  316. alex

I would go out for two reasons.1. because i'm not a great basketball player and two. 2. because I wouldn't hurt him

    January 27, 2009 at 3:38 pm |
  317. Oliver

I would go all out on him.He wanted to play basketball so he should get to have an experience of real baketball.Ken should be able to feel what it's like to play real basketball before he passes on.

    January 27, 2009 at 4:46 pm |
  318. Jamie

i dont think that I would Go easy on him the only way to get him better is to push him.

    January 27, 2009 at 5:06 pm |
  319. Jamie

I WOULD GO EASY ON HIM!
I think the elderly are great people and we must show them respect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

    January 27, 2009 at 5:08 pm |
  320. Jamie

    I LOVE OLD PEOPLE!

    January 27, 2009 at 5:08 pm |
  321. Jamie

SEEing a 73 year old basket ball player would really warm my heart and put this on the next show because I made a bet and i dont want to loose 10 dollars I LOVE U CARL

    January 27, 2009 at 5:10 pm |
  322. MG

He is old but i am goin all out. Or should i play easy?? NO im goin all out

    January 27, 2009 at 5:21 pm |
  323. fabiola

If I were the coach of the team and the guy was in my team, I would not take it easy on him because he knows that a basketball players should show the best for their team, so if he wants to play he should play out there like a real baketball player.

    January 27, 2009 at 6:21 pm |
  324. Sophia

I think that this man is amazing because it shows that not matter how old you are you can still reach your dream!

    January 27, 2009 at 6:51 pm |
  325. Duncan

I glad that he can play basketball, because i cant. Mabey when im 73 I will learn how to play. I wonder if he minds his age being brodcasted out in the open?

    January 27, 2009 at 7:22 pm |
  326. Wesley

i would still guard him as close as possible when he had the ball but i would back off a litlle because i would be scared to give him a heart attack.

    January 27, 2009 at 7:26 pm |
  327. Nick

I wouldn't go easy on him. He wouldn't have signed up if he didn't want to compete with other players.

    January 27, 2009 at 7:32 pm |
  328. Leo

I wouldn't do anything that would show that I am any better than the old man. He most likely is, but anyway... If I had a chance of embarrassing him, then I would back down. It's doesn't feel right.

    January 27, 2009 at 7:36 pm |
  329. ben

i think its good that we have the freedom in this country that you can be 75 or whatever his age is that he can play basket ball.

    January 27, 2009 at 7:56 pm |
  330. ZACK!

It's cool that the college let him in at 73 and its awesome if a 73 year old man can play basketball.
    Carl's awesome!

    January 27, 2009 at 8:05 pm |
  331. Dakkota

I think that is pretty cool. I have a 69 year wrestling coach, so i am used to it.

    January 27, 2009 at 8:34 pm |
  332. Sneha

I think that this man should be treated as a normal player because if he wasn't he wouldn't be considered an actual college basket ball player. Age doesn't stop people from doing great things!!

    January 27, 2009 at 9:03 pm |
  333. shelby

dear carl, i think this man is a great inspiration to everyone at every age. it shows that ageism is not a crime in the united states. and, if i where to have to guard him i would go real hard on him to see how good his game is.

    January 27, 2009 at 9:14 pm |
  334. Rachel

I personally would not take it easy on him. The reason why is because this man knows how basketball is played now a days and how competitive it is. He knows what he is getting into and should not expect to be treated any different from the other players besides being given a little respect by his teamates and the players on the opposing teams. I respect him because he is trying to do something that no one else has done. I wish him good luck!

    January 27, 2009 at 9:50 pm |
  335. brandy

I would be gentle but I probably won't show him that i wasn't going as hard as possible on him. He might think it would be kind of rude, age discrimination.

    January 27, 2009 at 10:56 pm |
  336. Kyle

i would probably go easy on him.

    January 27, 2009 at 10:58 pm |
  337. Austen

I think its amazing that he can even play, but I Dont think I would go easy on because he is choosing to play in the college league. I might feel defferently about it if I actually was to play him, but who knows.

    January 28, 2009 at 7:54 am |
  338. Summer

I would not go full out just because of his age and I wouldn't want him to get hurt. Mostly I would go all out because he obviosly has the basketball skills at his age to be on a college basketball team.

    January 28, 2009 at 8:48 am |
  339. Dillon

I am proud that we still have dreams that seem impossible to achieve here in the USA. Keep on goin man! I would go all out on you though. Sorry. If you didn't want to get hurt and play all out, you shouldn't have joined. Anyways..you still would beat me because I stink at basketball:)

    January 28, 2009 at 8:57 am |
  340. Peter

this guy is awesome im happy he is still following his dreams

    January 28, 2009 at 8:58 am |
  341. Cailean

i love my hair the only way i would get it cut would to be if it was for a really good job that makes tons of money

    January 28, 2009 at 9:29 am |
  342. sierra

    hey carl!
i think that the coach for this team should go a little easy on the man cause hes an old fart. haha

    January 28, 2009 at 9:58 am |
  343. sierra

i would go hard on him cause he know that if he wants to be on a college team he has to give it all. atleast he should no that. (hey carl your awesome)

    January 28, 2009 at 10:01 am |
  344. Ender

He should try to go to the NBA.

    January 28, 2009 at 10:18 am |
  345. Ashley

I would play fair because, the 73 year old has still got it.

    January 28, 2009 at 10:35 am |
  346. Ashley

It wouldn't be fair to my team if I backed off for an old man who is as good as us at basketball

    January 28, 2009 at 10:38 am |
  347. Jordan

I think you should play him like you would play any one else that is out on the court. To me he would just be another player out there playing basketball and doing what he loves to do. To young basketball players everywhere he is an inspiration because you know if that old man can get out there and run his butt off then you should be able to run yours off too.

    January 28, 2009 at 12:56 pm |
  348. MW

He's old but i would so take him on with all i got because if he's still playing, then he's really good

    January 28, 2009 at 1:42 pm |
  349. MS

he is so cool but i would be easy on him cause i'm nice but people who take him on are also nice. 🙂

    January 28, 2009 at 1:44 pm |
  350. Kimberly

for that 73 yearold guy to play on a basketball to complete his dream is a good thing.

    January 28, 2009 at 2:38 pm |
  351. AJ

I think it is amazing for a 73 year old to be playing college basketball. But once you step on the court the other person doesn't care if you're old are not.

    January 28, 2009 at 2:47 pm |
  352. jaucelynn

i think its cool that a 73 yearold man can play basketball!
and they treat him like a member of the team!
if i played against him i wouldnt go easy because hed probably beat me anyway!

    January 28, 2009 at 4:35 pm |
  353. casey

I love basketball and I think it would be very cool to have a 73 year old on my team!

    January 28, 2009 at 5:08 pm |
  354. stephanie

i would try to give him a break if he were breathing hard or something but if he wasnt then i would treat him like the rest of the team but i still wouldnt push him or treat him really harsh

    January 28, 2009 at 6:12 pm |
  355. Jakob

73 years old? AWESOME! He looked better than Miachael Jordan, Lebron James, and Shaq combined.

    January 28, 2009 at 6:24 pm |
  356. Brett

Even though he is old you should still play full out, because he is still another player, that still is amazing!! 73-years old

    January 28, 2009 at 8:28 pm |
  357. Ben

i would play medium.. but i would beat him to the point where the score would be 99- to – 0 so i would keep it fair game and play normal but not to hard..

    January 28, 2009 at 8:57 pm |
  358. caleb

I think it is totally cool and weird at the ame time how how he is older and he still has game.

    January 29, 2009 at 8:27 am |
  359. Ashton

I realy believe that if you believe in your self and
work hard you can do anything you can think of .
I thhe has a lot of guts to play basketbal at 73.

    January 29, 2009 at 8:28 am |
  360. Hunter

Even though he is 73, it's good that he's still trying to go out for his dream. I don't think I would go all out against him, but I would still try to get the ball.

    January 29, 2009 at 8:47 am |
  361. Paige

If a 73 year old made a college basketball team, he would have to be pretty good at playing. If I had to play him I would probably wouldn't take it easy on him. I don't think that just because he's old he should get a advantage over everyone else. No matter who is playing or how old they are, everyone should play fair.

    January 29, 2009 at 8:50 am |
  362. Chad

I think that if I faced a 73 year old man on a basketball court I would probably have to go about the same pace when I normally play. That would be because I'm fast, but I'm a lousy shot. I think that if I was as good as the other guys that he plays I'd probably go easy on him until he proves he doesn't need it.

    January 29, 2009 at 8:51 am |
  363. Jeremiah

I would treat him like any other player because he is the one risking his safety, so if I fouled him I wouldn`t feel any remorse if he got hurt. But it is unlikely I would ever play with him, or any old person.

    January 29, 2009 at 9:25 am |
  364. Samantha

I think that is pretty good that a 73 year old can still play basketball. Plus I hope he doesn't hurt him self from it because you can get hurt from playing basketball at a certain age.

    January 29, 2009 at 10:05 am |
  365. Mr. Miller

I really think that this story is inspirational and shows students that they can achieve their dreams no matter how old they are.

    January 29, 2009 at 11:05 am |
  366. Chad

I would go all out on him because even thats he's old, he's apart of the team.

    January 29, 2009 at 6:45 pm |
  367. Ty'Aundrea

When old people play basketball it makes me laugh soooo hard i'll cry!

    January 29, 2009 at 9:04 pm |
  368. dennis

this is so outstanding because now it saying no matter how old you does not stop you from completing your dreams.

    January 30, 2009 at 7:15 am |
  369. Jesse

I thought this was collage basketball not elderly!

    January 30, 2009 at 8:12 am |
  370. Keagan

Why are they letting this man play basketball, he's 73. 73 year old people should not be playing unless it's at their own home.

    January 30, 2009 at 8:15 am |
  371. makayla

I honestly think it's amazing that a 73 year old man can still play basketball with guys that are in collage! I think I would go easy on him,I mean I wouldn't want to hurt him! I have HUGE skills! Not that he probably doesn't butt still i think i could take him. Good luck!

    January 30, 2009 at 8:18 am |
  372. Ryan

If I was playing basketball and I had to guard a 73 year old man. I would probably not play defense as well as I could. I would not guard him like another younger college athlete until he showed he could make a difference in a game. Once he shows me he can make a difference in the game and on their team I would guard him as if he was a younger athlete and ignore his age.

    January 30, 2009 at 8:38 am |
  373. Shannon

I never thought a 73 year old dude could play basketball– most people that guy's age would just sit at home eating oatmeal.

    January 30, 2009 at 11:35 am |
  374. Brittany

I think I would go hard on him. Because, if he's on a basketball team he knows hes going to get beat once in a while. But once it looked like he was hurt or something I would go a little easier on him. But come on no one would want to lose to a team that has a 73 year old on your team.

    January 30, 2009 at 12:13 pm |
  375. Shelby

I would not play easy on him. I would go all out and give it my all as if he were the same age as me. Why would you go easy on him you don't want to lose. If he was playing on a team that you were playing against then he should be anle to take the pain. So that what i think about that.

    January 30, 2009 at 12:14 pm |
  376. Taylor

I think that if a 73-year old man wants to play basketball and actually has skill, you should let him. I wouldn't exactly let a man any older than that play, just because of health issues (Like if he got a concussion, or if he broke any of his bones). But if he truly wants to play and is like amazing at it, I say let him.

    January 30, 2009 at 1:03 pm |
  377. superman

i think that its pretty cool that a 73 year old man can play basketball. If it was me going against him i would go easy cause i wouldnt want to brake him.

    January 30, 2009 at 1:03 pm |
  378. Erik

College basketballl is a competetive sport. I think that just because some 73 year old guy wants to play college basketball you can't just give up and let him score. This is NCAA basketball people! One of the most competetive sports programs ever. So in my opinion you don't have to knock the old guy out or stuff the ball in his face, just play him like your playing a regular scrimage game.

    January 30, 2009 at 1:05 pm |
  379. zane

i would go easy at first and see how good he was. and if he was good, i would compare his game to mine and see if he could keep up lol

    January 30, 2009 at 2:11 pm |
  380. luke

i would treat him like anyone else.

    January 30, 2009 at 2:11 pm |
  381. Anna

I think that it is kinda weird that a 73 year old man is playing college basketball. it is aslo cool that he is 73 and he can still run. if i was playing against him i would probably not touch him. cuz i think that is gross.

    January 30, 2009 at 2:12 pm |
  382. Devin

I think its great a 73 year old man is playin basketball. I think i would still play hard on him though because he is still just a person hes just older. i think he would probably be upset if everone was playin hard on him.

    January 30, 2009 at 2:15 pm |
  383. luke

i would go hard on him because he singhed up and wanted to play. on the other end he might get hurt because am a beast on a leash.

    January 30, 2009 at 2:16 pm |
  384. safaria

a 73 year old football player ill

    January 30, 2009 at 2:59 pm |
  385. margaret

i think it would be weird to be in collage and have a 73 year old basketball player on my team because i would think people would go easy on us and it wouldnt be a fair play

    January 30, 2009 at 3:12 pm |
  386. Jazmine

I would be nice on the man for a change . Bacause it would be nice .

    January 30, 2009 at 3:14 pm |
  387. Rachel

I think that the right thing to do when you are on the court with a 73 year old basketball player is to play your best against him. I think that if he is willing to play, then obviously he is tough enough to play against you, so give it all you've got. 🙂

    January 30, 2009 at 4:28 pm |
  388. dude

ID NOT TAKE IT EASY ON HIM.............

    January 30, 2009 at 4:34 pm |
  389. Emily and Miranda

We think that you should go easy on the guy......I mean he is 73 years old for gosh sake! But it also depends what the guy wants if he thinks he is so great then maybe we will do a little one on one.....MAYBE

    January 31, 2009 at 2:58 am |
  390. JoJo

73 years old is tooooooooo old!

    February 2, 2009 at 5:13 am |
  391. Samantha

What people should do when they play the 73 year old they should not hold back because I'm sure he wants to play the game like everyone else.

    February 2, 2009 at 10:34 am |
  392. natalie

I thought that a 73 year old b-ball player was pretty weird but cool my grandpa that age would not be able to keep up with that! lookin good ken mink!!!!!!!!! 🙂

    February 2, 2009 at 3:48 pm |
  393. Terry

it depends becuase even though he's not as younge as he use to be, he would still probably beet me even if i didn't go easy on him. And if i were him I wouldn't want people going easy on me just becuase of my age.

    February 2, 2009 at 4:02 pm |
  394. Diana

I think you should play all out , but dont knock him down.

    February 2, 2009 at 4:09 pm |
  395. Becca

I would take him because he is inspiring kids that even though you are old doesn't mean that you can't do the same stuff you coould do when you were a kid......and he is good at it

    February 3, 2009 at 10:45 am |
  396. Rachel

    carl
this is great! give the elders some thing to look up to! just be careful, but not to cvareful, it may hurt his feelings D: but great job!!!

    February 3, 2009 at 6:27 pm |
  399. bmw gc

I would play regular because if he is going to play he is going to play for real.

    February 3, 2009 at 7:10 pm |
  400. Austin

i think i would play just as hard as i would with anyone else, when my old man plays with me, he gets no breaks, so why would this 73 year old guy?

    February 4, 2009 at 1:17 am |
  401. Elizabeth

If I were good at basketball, I would play him like I play everyone else, and hope that I don't break him.

    February 4, 2009 at 4:46 pm |
  402. Brice

I would reject him because he is old and i would not let him play b-ball because i he gets hurt...that would be REALLY bad... 🙂

    February 4, 2009 at 8:35 pm |
  403. Nate

I think you should play him like you play everyone else. It's his choice to play basketball so there is no point in giving the game to him.

    February 5, 2009 at 7:05 am |
  404. Natalie

if a 73 year old person made a basketball team then he must be a good player. But he must be old too. haha

    February 5, 2009 at 11:21 am |
  405. Mandy

I think its great that hes going for his dream... Or hoop... Even though hes just a wee bit older... Haha

I saw it and i thought it was a good thing for that old man to do that cus hes old and its healthy for him

    February 5, 2009 at 8:56 pm |
  407. Anthony

I think it is crazy a 73-year old man can be playing basketball Because if he fell i think he would break a bone.

    hehe

    February 6, 2009 at 12:05 pm |
  408. Jordan

I would play with him as hard as i would play with anyone else, our school has a 65 year old wrestling coach and i wrestle him harder then i wrestle anyone else on our team.

    February 6, 2009 at 1:33 pm |
  409. Brody

i would take it to the house. And he is too old to be playing college B-BALL!!

    February 6, 2009 at 1:51 pm |
  410. Poil

I think there should be more athletic people. 73 year olds should be athletic & healthy.

    February 6, 2009 at 2:07 pm |
  411. Annie (-;

That's really cool. 73 year old man playing basketball? Both of my grandpa's died before they were even 73, let alone being good enough to play college basketball!

Anyways, my point is: WAY COOL!

    -Annie (-;

    February 6, 2009 at 2:32 pm |
  412. rachel

I think it is really cool that the school let the 73 old man play on their basketball team. Now that the school let him do that other people will hopefully do what they want to do and not worry about what other people wil think of them and other people will not look at them that dumb any more.

    February 6, 2009 at 2:47 pm |
  413. niikkkii(=

Welll he is human . SoOoOoO ; if he is healthy enough to be a ballla ' on the court. He is healthy enough to be a balla ' that getss pushed when someone wants the balll(=

    February 8, 2009 at 4:55 pm |
  417. Anthony

When your on a court with a 73 year old I would play just as normal as anyone else. That’s what he would want.

    February 9, 2009 at 8:39 am |
  418. Jenna

I think that if you can still play basketball at that age then go for it.(just don’t hurt yourself)!!!!

    February 9, 2009 at 12:25 pm |
  419. Anthony

I would take a little easier since he is older and isnt as strong as us so we could easily break bone or something. But if the guy is a strong guy looking nothing like an old man than I will go all out!

    February 9, 2009 at 9:18 pm |
  420. Adam

I dont think a seventy three year old should be playing basketball with young adults and i would not go easy on him but i wouldn't go my hardest. I think that he should try to join a seinor leauge or play with people closer to his age.

    February 10, 2009 at 8:09 am |
  421. Adam

I really don't think a 73 year old sholud be playing basketball with people in there 20's and 30's and I would cover him like I would cover anybody else but maby not my hardest . I think he should try to find a seinor league with people closer to his age

    February 10, 2009 at 10:24 am |

That is so cool. I play basketball. He is doing what he loves. I wanna be like him. Though I probably would play easy. REALLY easy on him.

🙂 Follow your dreams! No matter at what age.

I think that this man is very healthy. if this man wants to play basketball and in good healthy let him do it. because you only have one life to live let him live it to the fullest and enjoy his basketball career.

I would not take it easy on him. Yes it is amazing that he is still playing but if I let him score on my that could cost the game. He wants to play the game he should be able to take the pain.

I think they should just treat him like a player on the team. They shouldn't treat him any different just because he's old.

Some of you need to realize how tough some older people can be. My dad was able to run circles around just about everyone at 73. Our family friend lived by herself until she was 105 and was still hand-plowing and planting her garden. I'd like to see a 20 year old do that all day, clean house, and then show up at every church service! Competition is competition. You'll take it easy on him until he burns you a few times!

Depends on how good he is. If he is good ill treat him like any oppnent. if he isnt the best like me ill go a little easy on him, i mean come on a 73 year old i am surprised
