Got Worms?
Um...we're talking about the kind discussed in Wednesday's show.
It's gonna take a whole lot more than the picture you see in our program to convince me that there was once life on Mars. I'm not saying it's impossible; I'm just saying that it seems a bit of a stretch that a rotini-looking bit of matter was once a Martian worm.
But for the sake of argument, let's say it was. You hear the line that it "could be a big deal for all of us." I agree that it could change the way we think of the galaxy (or even the universe). But honestly, is it really going to affect anyone on Earth today if there was once life on Mars? Or is it just something that seems cool?

If we have worms in space what else is out there? Man-eating-magets, Killer Inch worms. Giant butterflies?? Who knows...
If you think about it, we are just a micro-microscopic spec in all of the universes. How could we be the only living things???
If those worms or creatures are dead, I don't think it would be a big impact on us, but its fun to find out. But if there's still creatures that's alive, well, that'd be something interesting!
I presume there would be a big whirl in the thinking system of people living on the earth . And in the scitientific world would be also a big whirl.
But in some period of time, people will realize the gap is not so big, and then return to normal life cycle.
Anyway if the rotini is real proof of the life living on the Mars, will we have to feel more threat against our life? Because it proves that any living creature cannot be forever, and they have to die completely.
I thick the worm on mars could be a sign of life on on the red planet.If that is a real sign of life on mars awsome.
I don't think our lives would change if there was once life on Mars. If there's life, that's great. But those "creatures" were all dead by now. Things won't change and they won't come back to life. No matter how it ends, we still need to stay on the earth.
I think that it is a weird idea because there is no such thing as aliens, but I do believe that there is life on another planet!
I think that it would be cool to know that there is life on Mars, and even cooler if we could find a way in the future to live there ourselves.

I think the worm could be a sign of life. But it could just be a funny shaped rock. I still think they should look at the site again. It stinks that it takes that long just to get to the other earths.
I think that it's so cool that they might have proof of other living things in our universe. Imagine getting a message from aliens. How awesome would that be? I think they should back and look for more proof as soon as they can.
It would be really cool if there were worms on Mars because there could be things other than worms, like aliens or something. But we don't know if it really was a worm, or if it was just a fossil.

I think it is possible that there may have been life on Mars. The only thing I'd have trouble believing is that there still is life there! It's only a worm (possibly), but I still think it's cool that we may not be the only ones in the universe...ever.

I think it is a little freaky that there might other living things besides us. But we can't be the only living things in the universe though. 😀
If we need to travel to other planets that are 50000 light years away, we should send out a rover like we did with mars and see if they can come here. as for the worms, if they're fossils then that means the are dead and possibly extinct.
Life inside of a bigger life thats all swirling and floating inside and even bigger expanses of space that may or may not have even more life and/or intelligence is a huge concept to think about!
I think it'll affect the Earth. Really, in the future it could be that we can't stay on Earth and we have to move. It won't be soon but it could. Before that the scientists can make Mars a place to live. Then we could go to Mars and live. Well, that's why I think it'll affect Earth and the people.
We wouldn't base there being life on Mars from just one picture of a worm-like object. It would take some more exploration and findings!
I think it would effect people on Earth if they found a martian worm fossil. It could/would have made the first human trip to Mars quicker

I think that it is probably a noodle from a land rover with a noodle on a old land rover from 1900-2008 or something.
I don't think that it is a worm. It looks more like a noodle, but then again it's Mars. We have no idea what is out there, so we will never know for sure whether it is a form of life, or if it's just an oddly formed rock or whatever. It would be neat if it was a form of life
what if it is a giant monster and they got the picture at the right time. and what if the aliens aren't hiding from us they just live underground or something. and how do we know the aliens would be friendly they might try to eat us and suck out our brains and make a alien envasion we will all die.
Wow that looks really cool, but the thing is that looks like a deformed nuddle that happens to look like a worm. What if that was like a freaky monster thing and its out to attack! ahhhh!

I don't think that there is or was life on mars. Nobody can really prove that there is life on mars.
I think that any sign of life is cool. but to think about the subject is amazing the thought that another life form could be in the universe.

It wouldn't affect anyone on Earth today, but it would be so interesting to know that life existed before on Mars. It makes you wonder if Mars was once like Earth and what could have happened for everything to die off.

I can't believe it that after all this time, all the searching we've finally found what could be solid evidence of extraterrestrial life!! If it is a worm or fossil of one, then this means that there is or was small scale life on Mars, if it was a rotini noodle then who made it?
I think it would be a large discovery and an advancement that could lead to even more exploration. I think there are other planets. There are billions and billions of galaxies and planets, to say we are the only ones to have life forms is absurd.

I agree with Shantal. I think that even if we do find life on mars it’s not going to change our way of living and it won’t affect us at all.
If we discovered that there is, or at least was, life on Mars it could open up a lot of possibilities. What's too say there couldn't be life other places, and even more complex life forms. Though one picture isn't too convincing, It could open up a lot of new questions for future scientists.
I think that it would be cool if there was life on mars but really now I just can’t believe a little picture that looks like a worm could mean life. It would be pretty cool if we were to live on a different planet
It is not far fetched to think that there are other organisms on distant planets. But I don't, nor will I ever, believe in the fairy tale of intelligent life...
I do however think that there are countless planets similar, if not identical to the earth. And that if found, it would be a step forward to start using them as secondary planets. The Earth is overpopulated as it is... it makes sense that people would move to different planets and spread out.
I do think that the mars thing is kind of strange, personally-I don’t believe it. To me, it looks like a messed up rock that are tripping people up for no reason. O-well, maybe there is life out there besides us, but we probably won't find proof of it in our life time.
I think it would effect the Sci-Fi people of this earth because something that they have been told is not true now become slightly more real.

If there was actually life on Mars, I think that would be a wonderful discovery. At the same time I think we should leave it alone. Maybe we were not supposed to find life on other planets. The idea might be a forbidden secret that should be kept under wraps.

I think it's amazing that they might have found life on Mars! I'm a believer in the paranormal and extraterrestrial, so I fully believe that it's not just a rotini-looking bit of matter, and that it was actually a Martian worm. I mean, seriously. The biggest proof that there is alien life out there is that they haven't contacted us yet – we're too primitive for their civilizations.

I think that a picture of a worm gives scientist hope, but I don’t think that it means that there is other life on that planet. There are a lot of theories, non that have enough evidence to prove anything. I say keep looking.

I think that it may show life on other planets. But there will always be another place where life exists. Its not just here on earth that life exists. It wont be a huge deal…whoopie there’s life somewhere else.
I don’t believe it will be a big deal for people on earth today because by the time we figure out what happen to the life that was there a good 15 years will have gone by then it would take another 20-30 years before we figured out if we could make it so Mars could sustain life again.

I like the idea of thinking that there could be another form of life on another planet but I do not believe that martians exist. Plus we don't even know for sure if there was ever life on Mars, hopefully it's something we can reaserch more on to figure out someday.

I watch your show almost every day in Mr. Buckners class. What I wanted to know more about was when nasa found fossils of worms in Mars I think it was very interesting.
I think that it could be a worm. However, because of the large cost, I do not think we should another probe just for that purpose. If there were more than one, I think it would be worthwhile.
I would really love to accept the fact that we are not alone in the universe. But until we get better proof, we might as well determine the "worm" is not a real fossil.

I think that the thing in the picture from mars is a worm. The fact is that I told my mom about it and was like with a face that said to me that she didn't know things like WORMS could live on mars. When I saw that at Probe I was SOOO weirded out. I couldn't tell what the thing was untill I saw the lines like it was a worm or a catipiller. My dad said that those kind of things don't live on mars.
It would be really neat if there was life on another planet. Those extraterrestrial life forms could be something neat like huge butterflys, giant bears, weird plants. However, I don't think they casue much harm to us!

Me personally I think that Aliens are already here on earth, some how they are doing alot of sophisticated, intelligence, clever and advance techiques that most humans don't see. I think it is cool that they found a fossil that they think has a worm, but it is kind of boguse that we can't tell if it was a worm for another like 50,000 years. It is still SWEET!!

I think that life on other planets is posible. So why shouldn't mars have life too. If the worm is alive then, ether the frozen water is un frezeing then soon there might be another Earth in about 33 billion years or more to see something compared to humans to evolve.

I think that worm is a worm from Earth that took a ride on the land rover, then feel off, and froze. Well there is no explanation for finding one worm. I would think that you would find more one worm sense we have been roving Mars for years.
I think if there was life on Mars at some point in time, and we figured it out, then it would effect a lot of people. It would make us look for other earth like planets with a little more intensity.

The discovery of worm-like creatures on the Martian surface would be an incredible leap forward for the human race. Finding a Hermaphrodite creature on the Red Planet would be HUGE! Let's just hope this isn't a cosmic gummy worm.

I think it would affect a lot of people. I mean, this is the world. People wolud start panicing and make ufo lookouts. Our economy is already bad we dont need anymore wacky things going on! We need more proof before we start going into a wierd state of life. I think this is going to be intresting to see what really happens.

This is a great new discovery. It glad to finally getting some feed back on all the research that is done in space. With the great debt crisis our country is in sometimes it makes me wonder whether its necessary for us to be spending our funds in space, where we are getting no returns, but not anymore.
I do think that this skit went to far because if he makes jokes about it it may make him feel better about his situation and when other people do it he may feel a little down and hurt.

Space goes on forever (we think)...isn't it sort of egotistical to think that we're the only life out there? We're nothing more than specks ourselves.
There is many thinks in the universe we havent discoved yet, so why should this be a shock. Considering people have clamed they have sen a ufo and videos to prove it. And they think its a big deal just to find something that they THINK is a worm, but you never know! Looks can be deceving!!!!!
