Thanks to Veterans

My grandfather served in World War II.  One of my uncles is a Marine (retired); another is an Airman (retired).  I'll thank them today along with any other veterans I meet - we hope you'll do the same for the veterans in your life.

And if you'd like to give a Shoutout here to any veterans you know, we welcome it!  May God bless all who've served.

It is important to honor all who have been in the wars that have came and past, the ones going on now, and then ones that will. One person who I think we should Honor from my town was Craig Watson who died while serving for our country.

Veterans day is one of the best holidays we have. I think a lot of people underrate it though. Here we are, going on with our lives when there are loyal soldiers out there laying their life on the line. Every day that we have soldiers out there should be veterans day.

If only I had a veteran in my family...I feel dishonorable knowing that your grandfather and two of your uncles were so valiant and loyal to their country! I only know one person who's currently serving in the army. He's had to sacrifice a lot of his time staying in Iraq when he could be at home spending time his children. How dreadful that must be!

Veterans day is so important! I know my grandfather served in the army and my dad was stationed in Italy while he was in the army and it makes me proud to know that my family has been that brave! Today is a very special day for them and we should all thank everyone we know who has ever served our country. I think this year it is especially memorable because we have a new president-elect and there are so many changes being made.

I think that every november 11th is the best day of our lives because the people that fought in a war (any war) should be celebrated for fighting for our country and doing the best that they could to have beaten the other army members form somewhere else. And I think that the Veterans should get their day to where they can remember what they have done in the past.

It was awkward that in 11:11am of 11/11/08 my class made a small letter towards the Veterans while I learned the origin of the holiday and why they use the poppy flour as a symbol.

I learned today, that they used that flower because of a man who wrote a poem called"In Flander's Field" which talked about a friend he lost in a battle and how the Poppies grew in the field where the battle has struck.

My grandfather in law fought Marxism in WW2 on the russian front and lost both his brothers the same way. Now the nation we're in is going to be lead by one... What a shame. Looks like all the men who died in WW2, Korea, and Vietnam to stop communism, regardless of what nation they fought for, have died in vaine.

My shout out is to my cousin Harvey who was K.I.A when he was fighting in the war in iraq. He was a marine and was 27 years-old when he got shot. He got shot in the middle of his forehead by a sniper. That was a bad day when we found out and i'll always miss him. We will always remember those who served and my cousin that was killed. We are always missing them if their lives got taken away and we will pray for the one that are alive.

My dad was in Iraq and Kuwait. My mom's dad served in the Korean War but sadly died of cancer. 10/17 was the aniversary of his death. My dad's dad was an engineer. I'm hoping to be in the army one day. I am extremely proud of my heritage. Because I'm proud to be an American..........that's a song I almost always sang when I was young. I'm proud of my dad, his dad, and my dad's father-in-law, because first there's strong.................and then there's A*R*M*Y* *S*T*R*O*N*G*!!!! And to all the army men, Navy sailors, Marines, and Air Force pilots (one of my friends named Matthew has a dad in the air force), I hope you make it home safely!! And if you don't, I truly hope your family can deal with the impact of the news.
