Mondays Off!

When heard about the Minnesota district that is switching to a four-day school week, I thought it sounded AWESOME... until I found out the students were getting Mondays off.  Fridays would've been SO much sweeter!  On the other hand, if my boss told me I could have Mondays off, I'd take it...

Anyway, after hearing details on the report, it seemed like a win for everybody.  The school day is an hour longer, granted.  But who wouldn't be willing to stay an extra hour every day so that you could have three-day weekends?  And if that could save the district a hundred-thousand bucks... it seems the only downside could be extra weekend homework.

    "Fowl Fashiion!" Indeed.

The four day week makes a lot of sense to me.

Here in Tucson, the Tucson Unified School District is looking to make up a multi-million dollar shortfall. This is something I hope they consider, when they take a hard look at slashing to budget.

Good pun today, btw. That was about a 6.5 out of 10.

    To borrow a line:

    And so it goes,

But if they change it, the students might get worried on Monday that they're late but then found out that they don't need to go to school at first because they're not use to it. Umm... I don't know if it's good or bad, or both. But I'd like to have a five school days, might sound crazy to some of you but I think that's better.

You could say yes and no because, they are saving money, but three day weekends could bring grades down. Greg, if you want to give students a day off, give 'em Friday off!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that it's a great idea beacause everyone gets there share. The kids get an extra day to them self and the princple saves 100,000 a year.

Cool!!! I wish South Carolina would do that.

My students are split on the subject. Many would rather have Friday off, while some don't think it is a good idea because it will leave many children alone at home. Many students who work use that hour after school to do their homework before going to their afterschool job. If you took Friday off, what would happen to football?

I don't disagree with that policy but, isn't resting three days ”consectively” too long?
"Wesnesday off" would be better and more balanced, in consideration of keeping students' motivation.

I belive that whoever came up with this idea was very brillant!!!! A four day school week plus the saving on gas; it can't get any better than that!

We have had the 4 day school week for 3 years and we LOVE it!!!!!
You get into the routine of longer days and they aren't bad at all. Our teachers have done a great job of getting our lessons done in four days.
On Mondays we catch up on sleep, do homework and help out on the family farm. We miss less school as we do our appointments on Mondays. Please come to Randolph and see how it works. Put us on your show!!!!!!

Well, i like the idea of having Mondays off because those are the most boring schools days of all.I do agree that Fridays would have been better.I also like the fact that it saves money (sounds good to me).It is kind of messed up that they have to spend an extra hour at school, but hey, anything for a Monday off.......

I think it is a good thing because they are tyring to help themselves and their school .I wish south cobb could do the same considering how high gas prices currently are.

I think that it's pretty cool that most students have a three day weekend and four days off of school.. Regardless of which day you get off I think that it's nice considering that some schools don't have that option.

I think its a good idea for the school to cut a day off to save money, but personally i wouldn"t want my school to do the same thing because school would be extended a hour.

I feel as though the four day week is a temporary good idea. But as far as being a long term thing i don`t agree fully. Initially, I'm sure students would conduct themselves maturely. But after a while mondays off could cause a growth in problems around the area. At the same time it will give students more ime to study, yet still have freedom.

I think that making a four day week is a bad idea because it's taking time out of their education. Students in other districts are getting an upper hand on the kids with the four day week because they got more time in school.

I think it's a good deal for both teachers and students. I would like to have an extra day off of school, but it doesn't matter to me... Friday or Monday. Ya dig!

I think that it's a ogood idea. But Why should they be the only school to try this? I think that shools in Ga....in Cobb county because Its a good thing they have. Our Principal is talking about taking away field trips and this would be good way to save money money. But instead of Mondays I think that Fridays would be better just keep school hours the same.

I really don't think thats a good Idea because you won't learn nothing or get an education.I would prefer Fridays over Mondays because on Fridays you don't do nothing but sit around.

I think thats good for both teachers and students cause it gives them extra time to get ready for school the next day and it gives the students enough time to do their homework if thay didn't do it ya dig.

I think this would be a great idea for schools every where. Im speaking as a current high school student in the state of georgia and my school is currently in need of budget cuts. This would save the school money, and well, Give us a 3 day weekend. Its a "win, win"

I would start getting lazy and not want to go to school if there was 3 days weekends. But every thing has it's up sides like getting another day to and catch up on homework.

I feel like they have to go to school for five days so then the teachers aren't pushing it in. So then the kids get the way that there suppose to do it. I feel like they should have to go for five days so then they learn everything they are suppose to.

I THINK IT WOULD BE TOTALLY AWESOME AND IT WOULD LET ME SLEEP IN FOR A LITTLE BIT AN IT WOULD SAVE MONEY ON FEUL FOR THE BUSSES AND THEN MAYBE THEY COULD DROP THE LUNCH COSTS DOWN FROM $2.00!!!

I think that having four days of school, with an extra hour a day per week is a great idea. It would be nice having a three day weekend!! Also, if your school district saved 100 thousand bucks, that would be sweet!!!

I think it would be cool to have a three day weekend. I think everyone would want that. I would stay a hour longer for a four days a week and getting a three day weekend, then going to school for five days and only get a two day weekend.

I think it mite be a good idea because if kids go to school for 4 days instead of 5 days kids mite pay more attention because they hang out with there friends on monday ware there is no school

  39. Randall

Wow! Three day weekends. That would be cool, except for the part that we would have to spend an extra hour in school. It still would be worth one extra hour, to get a three day weekend.

I think having Mondays off is a bad idea the reason I think that having mondays off is a bad idea because you get home later then have sports practice and or other things to do after school. and having and having to stay in school longer could mess up anything you have to do after school.

    September 25, 2008 at 10:11 am |

I think that is great because that the school saves a lot of money and that the students get to have more days off.

It seemed like an awesome idea and it would be cool if it happened to our school, because I would be willing to go to school an hour after school if that was the price to have Mondays off!

i would like only 4 days a week and i would go 1 hour more because i hate mondays even if i dont get to see my boyfriend i dont care i would call him

I believe that we should not have monday off because first all the other countries have 7 days of school and we would not get nearly as smart.

    September 25, 2008 at 10:16 am |
  46. Scott

i think it's a good idea because the school would save gas money so they could use it for better things that we need more as students.

    September 25, 2008 at 10:16 am |
  47. Brittney

I wouldn't want mondays off, because the school day would be so long. I think schools already to long. And I play sports so by the time we got out of practice it would be about 6:30ish and then do homework it would be really late. Or if we have a game we wouldn't get hame till 11:00. Then having to do homework, we would all be really tiered and grades would only drop. Some sports like volleyball play there games on monday so it would be really hard for every grade and school to re-do there schedules for sports.

    September 25, 2008 at 10:17 am |
  48. Tyler

I would not like Mondays off because I would get to lazy and would not have enough time during the school week to do homework with sports after school.

    September 25, 2008 at 10:17 am |
  49. Brittany

I personally don't like the idea of a 4 day week. If we had to spend a extra hour a day in school and you did sports then you wouldn't get home till late. On game days that would really suck, you would get home at like 10! Then athletes would start falling behind on homework. Then no one would be playing because they would lose eligibility. That is why I think that we should stay with 5 day weeks.

    September 25, 2008 at 10:18 am |
  50. Shawn

i think that mondays should be off because we would be able to do homework over the weekend.

    September 25, 2008 at 10:18 am |

I think that mondays off would cool. If we had mondays off we could have an extra day of sleep to catch up for the weekend. We could get all of the energy out of us and be ready to learn in school. On mondays that is usually the day that people slack off and on tuesday we are all ready to learn. Thats why i think mondays off would be good.

I would love to get Mondays off. It would give me more free time to get home work done and just do what i want.I think it would help people come to school more do to they would get more free time out of school. We need Mondays where I live

I think that it is a good idea to separate the classes by gender. If they are separated by gender, then maybe the student will be able to concentrate better. Also if the classes were separated then maybe they would be able to get their work done, and have it in on time.

    September 25, 2008 at 10:19 am |
  55. LeAndra

I do think it is right to have of mondays because it will give us a brake from having school the other 4 days and it will also get our brains thinking for tuesday.

  56. Rath

I think that it is a good Idea to have a 4 day weekend. Monday off doesn't seem very good though. I would want Wednesday off.

    September 25, 2008 at 10:20 am |
  57. Kelsee

The thing with having Mondays off to me it is a bad idea because having monday off you will be only getting half of what you should be getting in 5 days. so when you only go for 4 days you don't learn as much. so keep it to having 5 day in school cause 2 days off is enogh for me

    September 25, 2008 at 10:21 am |
  58. Lindsey

I disagree with school being only four days long. At the end of the day students wouldn't want to listen any more because they have all ready been at school for a while. Also lots of students would get hungry and them not be able to pay attention very well. Another bad thing about it would be if someone was in a sport and they had like a 2 hour practice then they wouldn't have much time to do any homework or things like that. One last thing about school for 4 days would be that the parents that work on monday would have to find somewhere for there child to go while there at work which would cost more money. Having school for four days and an extra hour a day is a bad idea to me.

    September 25, 2008 at 10:22 am |
  59. Tyler

I think that mondays off is a really bad idea....alot of the younger kids will then have no one to watch after them on mondays...lot's of parents use school as kind of a day care....

    September 25, 2008 at 10:22 am |
  60. Christina

I think that it is a bad ideal because it is not rely helping kids,or it is not doing any thing for the parents either because some parents all ready have there work schedual fit to the schools times

    September 25, 2008 at 10:23 am |
  61. Samantha

I think they shouldn't have monday's off because there grades might fall because the student might think that is another day of free time.To me it's not I would do my homework if i haven't already.

    September 25, 2008 at 10:23 am |
  62. Kylie

This would be pretty sweet! You would get to have a longer weekend.
Also thought you have to go to school later. It would be cheater for the school on gas money to get students from home to school. More kids may be more rested for school on tuesday because they would get another day to sleep. So yes I would like to have mondays off!!

    September 25, 2008 at 10:24 am |
  63. Asia

i think having mondays off is a good idea because it cuts down on gas for the bus and it gives kid an extra day to do there home work.

That would be sweet to have that at our school because I need to have another day off

I think it is a good idea to have Mondays off because Sunday is a sleep day and Monday you just don't want to be bothered with and it's the first day of the week.

    September 25, 2008 at 10:46 am |
  68. Nicholas

To be honest, having four days of school a week would be fun. The only problem would be the extra hours we would have every day. Mondays off would be kind of cool. I could go out and play football with my friends and family, or do homework from the week before.

    September 25, 2008 at 10:48 am |

It makes sense seeing as how the economy is effecting our generation. So it would be more convenient to make less trips to conserve gas.

We like the idea of a four day week. Half of the class wants MONDAYS off, but the other half wants FRIDAYS off. This is a good idea because the school system saves money, the students have more energy, and the teachers get a break!!!

    September 25, 2008 at 10:56 am |
  71. Seth

I think that mondays off is a good idea. Mondays off could put less stress of a five day week. I would like mondays off because I could spend more time hanging out with my friends or being outside or both. If our school had mondays off it would be awesome!!!

    September 25, 2008 at 11:00 am |
  72. Chris

I think that Mondays off is a very good idea. I think that the longer the school days would mean that you would learn more and take more into your mind. I like the idea of Mondays off but I think that we could just have longer school days if the school wasn't having problems with their budget.

    September 25, 2008 at 11:00 am |

I would love to have Mondays off.
It would give me more time to work on my studies. An hour extra everyday isnt bad at all. I would be glad to stay for extra hours after school for a monday off. It also would be nick so i could catch up on sleep. I wish our school could do that.

I think that it is a good thing to do. Also the can have a 3 day weekend to help around there house. I also think that all schools should do that (Have 3 day weekend).

  75. Katie

I think it's a good idea to have mondays off and only 4 days of school a week. It's a good idea because mondays are the worst days because your out of it and not paying attention and it's only 1 extra hour of school. Thats not so bad. Plus it saves money!

    September 25, 2008 at 11:01 am |
  76. Wyatt

I think that mondays off would be great because nobody likes mondays.Plus I can't do work on mondays.

    September 25, 2008 at 11:02 am |
  77. Alexa

I think that this idea is a good idea. It really does save on gas, because they are saving a lot just by extending the day and not going to school on Monday. To me I think that I would rather have another day than Monday, like Friday, but still I think It saves a lot of money either way. Whoever came up with that idea is smart on saving money, I bet.

    September 25, 2008 at 11:02 am |
  78. Sarah

I, honestly think that the whole "Mondays Off" thing is a good idea. First off, gas prices are not getting any lower, and it takes a lot of money to fill up a sixty-five gallon tank for a diesel bus. Cutting one day out of the week would keep the price down. Secondly, kids need more time off. Teachers get frustrated when students don't want to pay attention and their minds start to wander. The solution? Give them more time for themselves! All day every day students are to be on task, but, like all humans, they get tired... as do teachers! Even though it makes you go an hour more every day, it would be worth it to get one more day to recover from the previous, hectic, week.

  79. Xitlali

OMG..... that is so cool mondays off thats awesome. I mean every body is tiered on Mondays. Instead of Mondays off it should be half Mondays.

    September 25, 2008 at 11:04 am |
  80. Sydney

I think that mondays off would be great! I think this because then kids would have more sleep for school on tuesday. Even though school would be an hour longer it would be worth it cause you get a 3 day weekend to do stuff instead of just two days. Also because I hate having to go to school on monday.

    September 25, 2008 at 11:05 am |
  81. Jasmine

If we got 3 days off that would be like really bad. I think we as a school would become really lazy. I also think that our athletics would be like bad because we wouldn't have enough practices. And i think our grades would drop cause we would have less time to study in class. Mondays off would not be a good idea.

    September 25, 2008 at 11:06 am |
  82. Allison

The four days of week of school is an idea that even as a student who can't wait for the weekend, I am against the idea. By doing this, that would mean longer school hours and I would get more tired during the day, have less time to do homework, and very little time to relax after school so my body would be very stressed and only have three days to recooperate. I wouldn't be terribly upset if that did happen but I would not be one to vote for that decision, even for as much as I dislike Mondays.

    September 25, 2008 at 11:06 am |
  83. Elizabeth

I think it would be great to have 3 day weekends.
If we only had to add an hour to each day I would have no problem whatsoever with that.

It's like gettin 24 free hours for putting it 4 extra hours.

    Sounds great : )

    September 25, 2008 at 11:06 am |
  84. Veronica

I think that mondays off is a really good idea. It may be a longer day in school, but you could get more done in a day. Not only that, but you'd be saving money because you wouldn't need as much gas and you wouldn't have to heat the school for three whole days. Most of all you would have a longer summer. That is my best opinion on whether we should have longer days and no mondays or shorter days including mondays.

  85. gunnar

i think that Mondays off are a great idea and that we should be able to take a break and have a little extra time in school.

    September 25, 2008 at 11:08 am |
  86. Kelsey

I think that having a four day school week would be good for the school year. There are many reasons why it would, in my opinion, be better for the schools to only have four day weeks. One reason would be to cut down on gas. Gas prices are sky rocketing and it is just costing so much money. Also with electricity, only four days would cut down on that bill. Lastly, I think the students would enjoy having a three day weekend and not having to go to school on Monday. Although the days at school will be longer I think it will be worth it when we get out of school earlier for the summer

    September 25, 2008 at 11:08 am |
  87. Brandi

I think that its pretty awsome that they only have 4 days of school rather then 5 days and its even better that its mondays they have off because it gives them another day to rest from the weekend. you all know that we hate mondays lol.. i think that all schools should do the 4 day thing. becuase of the money problem. It takes alot of money for the buses to fill the tank up so it would help save money so they can use it for something else that the school needs...

    September 25, 2008 at 11:08 am |
  88. Dana

Fridays off would be better. It would be more for fun for the students, in my opinion, because most people feel more like going out and doing something fun on Friday than Monday. A four-day week is a good idea. The district will have more money, and they won't cut teachers. There are already enough jobs being lost all over the country.

I think my school should of done that. having a 3 day weekend I would have more time to do homework. So all schools should do that. I also think we should that so schools will improve.

Mondays would be great to have off. Its a benefit to the students and the teachers. Especially with the way gas prices are, this should definitely save on gas.

i think it is a good idea. i would love to only have four days

  92. Kailie

    I agree with Russell
After a couple of weeks I think the students would start to slack on their world... Although I do see the upside to the decission. With gas prices the way they are I would probably do the same thing if I were faced with a similar situation.

A four day school week has its pros an cons. If a student's parents need help at home like with kids, or they make their money farming and are going to neeed help with bringing in the crops, the kid is there. Considering the major shortage, it makes sense to stop running buses five days a week.

However, this 4 day school week could change a kid's whole life....school wise. Just because the kids have a shorter week it doesn't mean they need to have different hours. They'd have to learn more in a shorter amount of time which in turn would create a heavier work load.

  94. Ana

I really like the idea of being able to sleep more and not have to go to school for five days. I'd really like to have a three day weekend, but I at the same time I know the way I am and I would eventually start procrastinating on my weekend homework and it would eventually lower my grade.

The four-day week in the Minnasota school district situation is actually what I believe to be a good idea. Let's see, school is in between Tuesday through Friday every week with one hour extensions, meaning less money to pay staff and less support of gas price tantrums. And all this to save a few dollars for Christmas parties and pizza frenzies? Really, with all jokes aside, if this plan saves the district a hundred thousand dollars for better use and the students still maintain the same academic effort, then this would probably be the smartest idea any school district has come up with. It's a win-win situation for everyone. I just think it would be pretty dope for that plan to be adopted in all school districts around the nation.

  96. Melissa

The 4 day week is good because it gives the student a break and its for a good cause. The students still will get their education because they have an extra hour in school. The exta day will save gas for the busses and save money for the school.

i think its cool. Homework wouldn't matter to me. I would be so happy that i had an extra day off!!! I think we would even have an extra study day. That might help us

  98. Troy

I believe that the school district is vey smart because they are saving a bundle of money. as long as the students are making the grades, i think that they should keep doing that. i wish cobb county would do that.

Hey I'm a student and when I heard that there was a school having Mondays off I thought it was great! That means you get to spend more time with your famliy, and you would still have time to do your work.

I also think it's bad because but at least the teachers can keep their jobs. But other than that i think it's a great that they are doings this, and i think that other schools should do it.

I think it would be a good idea to have a four day school week. Like they said it would save a lot of money. More students would have better weeks at school and there could be more school activities.

  101. Laura

I wouldn’t want to do that, it’s okay every day of the week but at the end of the day you just really want to leave not stay until 4:30.

I think having four school days a week is good, because we would have more time to do homework, or study for tests. Sometimes I feel like my weekend is really short so that would be a lot better too.

mondays off is crazy cuze it is a hour longer i want monday off but i do not want to have a hour longer school day

I think that this is a pretty good idea but it doesn't make sense why it's not Friday's. I agree that I would take a Monday off but I would prefer to have Friday's off.

    September 25, 2008 at 1:23 pm |
  106. Grace

I think this is a cool idea to have a four day week, and only adding on an extra hour isn't bad. But I would rather have a 5 day week with one less hour and getting out of school at an earlier time to for SUMMER!

    September 25, 2008 at 1:24 pm |
  107. Rachel

I think that having mondays off would be a bad idea. Not only for us because it would make us more lazy, but for sports and academics we would not be as willing to do the work because we would be so tired from being used to sleeping in and doing nothing all weekend. And for like, elementary schoolers and stuff, they obviously are not old enough to stay home on the weekends by themselves, so when there mom and dads go to work and they can't afford a baby sitter what are they supposed to do?

    September 25, 2008 at 1:26 pm |
  108. Logan

I think it would be a great idea to have mondays off. I think our school should look into something like that. It would give kids extra time to recover if they're sick, get homework done, and lots of thing like that. So yeah I think it would be a great idea to do something like this keep rockin that school. Awesome!!!!!!!

I would really enjoy having a 3 day weekend. Even though when you think of a four-day week, you think of Fridays off, but I wouldn't mind either way. When gas prices are so high, like right now, it would save the schools a whole lot of money not having to drive bus routes 5 days a week. An hour or so extra a day I wouldn't mind either. It would help working parents too because the kids wouldn't need a babysitter when they are home alone for a couple hours after school before their parents get home.

    September 25, 2008 at 2:33 pm |
  111. Ashley

I think it would be a good idea to have Mondays off, and i don't know who wouldn't like it especially students. Even if the days were one hour longer its really not even that bad because the school might just add a p.e class or make the day periods longer.Or maybe the school will even be nice and make the lunch period longer. Another good reason would be if you have weekend homwork you get one extra day to get it done.

    September 25, 2008 at 3:04 pm |
  112. Kristin

Well I think having Monday's off would be great! A three day weekend would be very exciting. Students would get an extra day to get their homework done. Putting more hours on the other four days wouldn't be as bad. But another solution to doing that would have more time at lunch. At my school our lunch period isn't that long so having that extra time would be great! Also Monday's aren't the best day. I hate Monday's because it just means a long week at school. So getting Monday's off would mean that we only have a 4 day week which is cool. So that's why I would love to have Monday's off! A three day weekend!

  116. sarah

i think this is a great idea, and it will save a lot of money. kids could have extra homework, cause it'll be a three day weekend every week. and it is okay if there is longer school hours, but you would have to assign less homework cause there would be less time to do it. coming from a kid i think this is a great idea, and i think atlanta should do this too.

    September 25, 2008 at 5:38 pm |
  117. Jacob

I dont think that schools should have 4 day weeks with longer hours because its not right because i did the math and that is a whole 2 1/2 hours of school missed each week and that 2 1/2 hous could impact the education severley.

    September 25, 2008 at 5:51 pm |
  118. Kayla

I think the 4-day week is great! My cousin's school does that except that they get Fridays off. That's when her school does sports. The negitve of this is she gets shorter holiday breaks. I'd LOVE 3-day weekends! 🙂

I suggest that they shouldn't have four days in school but in the case of gas instead, fill the buses with more students and be more environmentally friendly. The products and resources should be recycled and they should encourage the students to not waste but conserve.

    September 25, 2008 at 6:29 pm |
  121. Jason

I think that this is a good idea because this would mean $100000 extra for the district which they could use for school supplies. Plus this would give students more time or study.

    September 25, 2008 at 7:30 pm |
  122. Sara

Sounds cool to me! 🙂 As long as the education is good, why not? 4 days of school and a 3 day weekend. Not bad at all. Plus it would help on saving money and the environment. 🙂

    September 25, 2008 at 8:23 pm |
  123. Tiffany

It's great because you can save some money because some kids have to go to school by car or the school bus. Second, the parents and the kids will hae more time to be together, to have a better family relationship. And the kids will have three days weekends! And you might even have an extra study day. LIke you can still play on Saturday and Sunday as usual, and on Monday afternoon or night, you can preview the things in school.

I would do it ........one hour extra isnt so bad sign me up!

    September 25, 2008 at 9:54 pm |

i really don't like the idea because the students that live a long bus ride away from school get home really, really late

  126. elizabeth

I think 4 day school weeks are a great way to benifit for the school costs but what about the families who have to pay an extra day on child care or a babysitter. That is even extra money for a lunch. (depending on what you eat.)
    This is my opinion.

    September 25, 2008 at 10:43 pm |

I think that it would be awesome, but i would take mondays because fridays could conflict with sports.

But it would still be awesome to only have a four day week

  128. Jack

I don't really think its such a great idea because longer school hours more work more stress parents have to stay home insted of work so they get stressed and stess doesent help with tests.

    September 26, 2008 at 7:22 am |
  129. Saya

As long as the quality of the education won't get bad, it sounds awesome for me. I'm so jealous because we have six days of school in Japan. Can you guys believe that we only have Sunday off?

    September 26, 2008 at 8:22 am |
  130. Billy

I think that would not really be worth it because you would have to stay in school longer for the 4 days. Students who are playing sports would have to practice even later at night with would interfear with homework time and work if the student has a job.

I believe it's carzy, how alot of gas staion dont have gas...and than when we do have gas it is so high Ya Dig. This gas thing is a big problem for every one but George BUsh!!!

  132. Megan

Mondays seem like a bad day comming from the weekend, but if we didnt have school on mondays the whole week would be off. our mondays at school would be teusdays. if we had to stay anextra hour to get the mondays off then some students wouldnt be able to work or they would have like 30 minutes to get ready for work. so i dont think that we should get mondays off.!!

    September 26, 2008 at 9:42 am |
  133. Brooke

I think it's a good idea! One, it is saving the school A LOT of money, and going to school an extra hour everyday would be totally worth not having to go a fifth day, but on the other hand, student would likely start to get lazy and not do their homework, especially if you give them Monday off, if they want to give the day off, give them Friday!!!

    September 26, 2008 at 10:20 am |
  134. Janelle

I think a four day week is a good idea. One, because it will save the school a lot of money. It would also cut back on the amount of money spent on gas. I would prefer Fridays over Mondays because we usually don't do anything in classes on Friday. I would also like the idea of sleeping in on the day we have a football game. More schools should try this for just a month and see how it works. If it works well, keep it up, but if it doesn't work so well, go back to the old way.

    September 26, 2008 at 10:31 am |
  135. Lucas

I like the idea of a four day school week but I also think it would be better if it was Fridays off (especially since it's today). 🙂

that's great no school on monday's that's the best thing i heard in my life but there's only one problem i have and that's their probrally going to give more homework and i don't like that

yea we should defiantly should have a 4 day school weekend it will be good for us and the schools that's what i think should happen in Boston Massachusetts that's what they should do

    September 26, 2008 at 11:19 am |
  139. Amanda&Haylea

Amanda thinks that Mondays off isn't really a good idea. She thinks this because people can get behind on their school work. People that have sports if they're gone one day a week because of a game then they'll only have 3 days of school a week.

Haylea thinks that this is not a good idea. She thinks this because if you have to be in school later every day than say 3:20 or so then you'll be tired all of the time and will not be able to concentrate in school anyway. So Haylea doesn't think this is a good idea.

  140. Cassaundra & Ryan

Cassaundra-I think that would be a good and bad idea. First of all it would be a great idea because no school on Monday is awsome plus I think it would save some gas but with these gas prices the way they are both parents would have to have a job to pay for the gas and the children would be left alone. Ryan the awsome-I think it would be a good idea becasue it would give us students that like to hunt a threeday weekend to hunt and rest at home and we would not have to skip school and we wouldn't get in troblue as much as we would if we skipped. We would also could have extra day to do homework and study for school. It would save gas and alot of student's grades. It would also help teacher to get ready for the next week by having a three day weekend. For some teacher's they need a three day weekend because 2 day isn't enought to grade homework and get lesson's planned for the next week. The teachers can have there meetings without only a halfday that day they can go all day without enterfearing with the student's class.
    Sincerly,
    Cassaundra & Ryan

  141. Mrs. Larson's AM Social Studies Class

Some of us believe that there are many advantages this program has for many people. It is saving gas and energy for the community and solving a problem that they have. A few of us don't like the policy because it might be hard to remember what you learned over the long weekend.

    September 26, 2008 at 12:36 pm |
  142. Steph

I think taking Monday off is a lot better than getting Friday off. We can still have football games and Fridays aren't bad at all compared to Mondays. Either way it’s a 4 day week making it better then a 5 day one. It’s all around beneficial for everyone especially the students we have more time off and at the same time you are saving gas and energy used to function schools for 5 days a week.

I personally would love to have Monday off especially if it would help the schools but what if parents jobs don't allow them to take a day off, then they could lose their job and their kids could get into trouble.

First off, I love Carl Azuz!! I think that having a four day week would be okay, except for the fact that you get out of school late; that would really mess with the way the after-school activities worked at my school.

    September 26, 2008 at 9:31 pm |
  150. Jose

That is cool but you will not learn alot!

    September 26, 2008 at 9:41 pm |
  151. j

i think it's good and bad. i think some students would get lazier but others would just think of it as a weekend and just act like normal. but i don't think it is such a good idea because parents that work monday probably don't feel as comfortable leaving there kids home. they used to know that there kids were at school but most will probably be a little nervous knowing that there home alone.

    September 26, 2008 at 10:00 pm |

I love the idea too especially if it was on fridays instead of mondays but other then that i wouldnt care about an extra hour of school each day i think its great

I think that 3 day weekends would be a bummer for 3 reasons.

    2: MUCH more homework.
    3: It would overwelming.

So, if the school day were two extra hours longer instead of one extra hour longer... would that mean school would only have to be three days and more savings?

    September 28, 2008 at 1:17 am |
  157. Morgan

I think that a 3 day weekend would be awesome. Many kids now a days are extremely busy with homework and after-school activity that an extra day with out school would give them time to take a break.

    September 28, 2008 at 2:32 pm |
  158. Tyler

I think we should have a four day school week so we can have more time to do what we want. With longer days, we could make up the work from that 5th day.

a monday off does sound awesome but it sounds a little too good to be true. at first it would be great guaranteed but after awhile you and your parents could get a little stressed. your parents would have to find some kind of child care on mondays and you would probably have extra homework over a 3 day weekend. I just don't think it is that great.

    September 28, 2008 at 7:20 pm |

I think that the four day school weeek is a good idea because it saves energy and other things. It is a perfect time to have a four day week because there is an energy crisis. it would save alot of gas, food, and electricity because there would be a whole day where no one would be in the school.

    September 29, 2008 at 8:42 am |
  163. Surada

I think Monday off its good; I don’t mind that I have to stay 1 hour more in every day school, and talk about homework I think it’s may be more extra homework and I don’t’ mind anyways so it’s the best idea to have Monday off and have a long week end !!

    September 29, 2008 at 8:44 am |
  164. Thierno

I think that mondays of is a good programe for us all and the school because the school will save money, we will have extra work time, the kids can have a whole sport day.

  165. will

a monday off school would be good most people can use that does take stress of the school week and it would be a nice day to rest and not have to go to school but the only bad thing would be that most little kids couldnt stay at home alone

    September 29, 2008 at 9:28 am |
  166. Jamie

Yay 3 day weekends that means 24 hours more of sleep! But then I would be wasted from weekend lag even more than I am now. I hate Mondays at school so get rid of them!!!

  167. billie

I don’t think it is a good idea because some families have to do things right after school. Like on some days I leave home at 7 in the morning and don’t get home till 10 or 11 at night. Also I’m glade to have school 5 days a week because we have less time at school and less days. Also I get to see my friends at school.

    September 29, 2008 at 9:29 am |
  168. Cookie Monster

I think we should have four day school weeks because it would give us a break from the stress and lets us think and refresh for the next day

    September 29, 2008 at 9:30 am |
  169. Karly

I think having Mondays of is a really good idea because it cuts down on energy and gas especially gas because we are having a really serious gas crisis here plus it lets kids and teenagers have a break sure the school day will be longer but hey it’s worth it.

    September 29, 2008 at 9:31 am |
  170. Alex

I think that a four day week every week would be awesome! The thing about daycare wouldn't even affect my family because my mom is a teacher so she would get that day off too. I really don't care if it is Friday or Monday that we get off but I would prefer Monday because Friday is the high school game day, and I hate Mondays!

    September 29, 2008 at 9:32 am |
  171. Maggi

I think that having Mondays off is a pretty good idea. First of all, it would save a lot of money on gas and other expenditures. Also, a lot of energy would be saved. Even if we have to go to school longer, we could get more material covered. One of the downfalls of not having school on Monday would be how the parents would have to find childcare for their young children.

    September 29, 2008 at 9:35 am |
  172. Michael

I think having Monday’s off would be awesome. It would also help the economy because it would save a whole lot of money with how much gas is these days.

    September 29, 2008 at 9:36 am |
  173. Lauren

A four day week sounds good at first. Mondays off would allow everyone to sleep in an extra day and only have to go to school for four days before another long weekend. And with the gas prices skyrocketing, districts with students seperated by many, many miles would save lots of money. But I’d rather go to school for five days for a shorter time than four days for a longer time. When I come back to school on Mondays, I really don’t feel like going to school and that feeling increases after a long weekend.

I personally think that the four day week is a good idea!!! Students have so much to cram in two days and they really get involved in other activities, some students who work like I, need more time to relax and get themselves into their school work plus as the gas prices rise the more students don't want to get up especially the students who have to drive themselves and those whom parents have to take them to school. The longer the days are the better because if you add it up; the day will only be about an hour longer and you have a WHOLE day off, the time they are adding to a day doesn't even add up to a full day.

I think that this isn't a bad idea. Exchanging a Monday off for an hour extra in school is a good trade off. In regards to learning an extra days worth of material in the other days, it doesn’t really make a difference since the school I attend is on a block schedule and we already learn a year’s worth of material in half a year. I wish our school system would switch to a four day school week.

i think it would be great to have a four day week because it would give poeple some rest. it will also save gas. Thats something we really need to do.

  177. Daniel

i love the mondays off. It gives us a extra day for the week to relax,do homework or get other things done, becuase a two day weekend is too short. I wish we had mondays off down here in cobb county and i dont even care if we're in school for extra hour.

    September 29, 2008 at 1:27 pm |
  178. Deion

A monday off would be good but the hours are little bit too long. You can do a lot on a three day weekend like help your family.Sometimes its good to have 3 day weekend and sometimes its not.

    September 29, 2008 at 1:28 pm |
  179. Randy

I think it would be a great idea to not have school on mondays because students can have more rest now. More students would be less tired in class because they would have a three day weekend

    September 29, 2008 at 1:36 pm |
  180. quienard

i think that it was a very good idea

    September 29, 2008 at 1:37 pm |
  181. daneisha

i think that it's a good idea to have Mondays off because it will give teachers a chance to catch up on things they have to do. Also I think students will like that too, then on Tuesday we can do the work we was supposed to do on monday. Teachers and students will have a three day weekend. This will make students and teachers happy ,beacuse students have another day to break from school.Students can come to school focused now...

I think having Mondays off would be Awesome! It saves time, money, and gas… I think it’s a pretty good deal.

    September 29, 2008 at 2:25 pm |
  183. Nick

I think it’d be cool to have a four day week, even if the time of each school day was extended. I could deal with four days better than five days, and I wouldn’t have to go crazy every week.

    September 29, 2008 at 2:27 pm |
  184. sean

I would rather have a 4 day school week. This allows for students to have more days to set aside to make money working. With a 4 day school week we also have an extra day to study or catch up on sleep so that we can be fresh when we come in on tuesdats.

    September 29, 2008 at 2:29 pm |
  185. Karl

I think that the mondays off is a really good idea but i know that it would be near impossible to get more schools to change thaeir weeks as well. The fact there sre less days in the school week would sve a whole lot of money not hust in fuel but also in electricity. The only thing about the longer weekend would be remembering things that you did on Friday, and like you said Carl, more homework over the weekend.

    September 29, 2008 at 2:29 pm |
  186. Garrett

I agree with getting mondays off. This was an excellent idea. Giving the students the extra day it gives them another day to relax and recover from going to school. Only having a two day weekend seems way to short for me. It goes by way to fast. This can also save the school money in other ways besides just saving gas. I believe every school in the United States should have a three day weekend.

    September 29, 2008 at 2:31 pm |
  187. Kevin

I think that we should have a four day week.If we had a four day week we could have longer weekends with only putting in 2 extra hours a day. To make it better it will save the school and teachers money on gas.

    September 29, 2008 at 2:34 pm |
  188. Laura

Personally having Monday’s off would be very confusing for me because I have a class in the morning every day of the week and it would be hard because that would cut back the time I have to learn from that class. I would like to have Fridays off because those days at least it is the end of the week and you do not have to work as hard to stay afloat in school. I think going to a four day week would work for my school because then we don’t have to be push to a mental break down. Students need to have time to themselves so that they have time for things other than just homework. They should have a change to have a job and a girl or boy friend and be able to date without having to stress about schoolwork and test.

    September 29, 2008 at 2:44 pm |
  189. Skeetmuffin

The three day weekend sounds like a good idea. The extra hour would be a very small price to pay for that one full day on Monday. If it was on a Friday than Friday High School football games could not be as special as they are under the lights. Also the Monday would give honor students more time to do their flood of homework from their teachers.

    September 29, 2008 at 2:48 pm |
  190. blake

i think mondays off would be a good idea. but fridays off would be better. we can still have football games, and the away team wont have to leave school early to get there.

    September 29, 2008 at 3:00 pm |
  191. denise

I think that Mondays off would be better even if school is 1 hour longer. You might even get more done if the class is longer.

    September 29, 2008 at 3:25 pm |
  192. Jordyn

I agree. If we had mondays off then life would be sweet. We may have extra home work, but you will have 3 DAYS to finish it.

    September 29, 2008 at 4:38 pm |
  193. carlos

I agree i think Mondays should be off since you only have 2 days on a weekend so now it will be 3 days and then the buses won't use so much gas!:) Something that would be bad is the schedule will have to be changed and you have to get used to the new one.:(

    September 29, 2008 at 6:07 pm |

I really think that the Mondays off is cool but not cool because pepole can get lazy & they will not be ready for school the next day.

  197. jeremy

i think the four day school week would be bad because people in sports would have a hard time. when they get home from practice its like right to bed boring i mean we have a life to live too besides if we did have a four day school week no one would be able to wake up in the morning on time i think it would be a bad idea

    September 30, 2008 at 9:59 am |
  198. Brian

I do not agree with the method of having longer school days. Even though I would enjoy having a extra day I would rather have only six hours of school. That is just my opinion, where I am from (Inverness,FL) we get up at 6:15 and school starts at 8:00. It ends at 2:00. I would rather go to school on a Monday and get out @ 2:00 pm then get off Monday and get out @ 4:00 PM

    September 30, 2008 at 12:29 pm |
  199. Amanda

Going to school on Mondays should still be the same. when were all just sitting here in class we wish that school would hurry up and end. well by us going to school on mondays we'll graduate quicker. yeah it would be nice to have mondays off but i want to go ahead and get my life going... with out my parents having to be there still telling me what to do. even though i know my boss will at my job but thats different. i wont live with them. i'll be on my own.

i think that they should leave the school system the way it is. its fine now and it'll be fine in the next years. and if we did have it it would be like the teachers trying to shove this knowlege in our brains in so little time. and i dont need all those headaches. and the teachers will be going in such a fast pace that students that dont learn in fast paces will be far behind and then grades will drop and then student drop out rates will go up. lets just leave things the way they are.

i think having mondays off is not a good idea because it make's things harder for you to get everything you do in school and less time for to study at home for all your test you will have less time in the summer and the weekends i think we should stay going to school for five days a week because you have more time to do a lot and make a differecne

I think a four day school would be amazing!!
even though we need school i think teachers would gett lessons done in four days. I mean seriously who wouldnt want to have four days of school a week and a three day wekend? And so what if parents cant be at home on mondays we're young adults we can take care of our selves! So if your asking me for my opinion or answer than is a YES!!

    September 30, 2008 at 1:23 pm |
  202. Cailie

I think that giving the students Monday off would be nice. Staying at home for all day can get really boring after awhile. Some parent Have to work on Mondays so their kids would not any one to watch them Cailie 🙂

  203. Aryanna

I kinda think it is not good for the kids in school but then again they have a longer day during school and i think it was also a good idea because they are saving gas money and fuel for the buses because last year they had a lot of money going to the buses instead of both but hardly the school got any of that money and the buses were expense of and they made a good choice of saving money for the buses this year then last year with this new week

It's a good idea just not the longer days part of it but that also means more time for hunting and fishing.

    September 30, 2008 at 1:30 pm |
  207. david

I think that there should not be a four day school because on monday's most parents work on mondays so that would mean people would need to take of time and could get fired.

I don't think we should have Mondays off because for the rest of the week if we would have football, cheerleading, soccer, and swimming we would be late for it because of the other hours we would have to make-up for Monday. That's the only reason I can think of exept I like how it is alredy!!!

I think that it's a great idea!!! Its Awesome!!! It saves money and give us (students) more time to study. I wish my county would do this because it would save gas money for buses and then gives us more time for after school activities, studying (maybe), and overall just another day to seep in and relax! Kids these days have to get up so early! it makes them tired when they have to take tests or something. Its a good idea to make weekends three days.

Personally I think this is a great idea! I would much rather go a little bit longer each day of school and drop mondays!

I think that a four day school week is an exellent idea. First of all, it saves the schools BIG bucks! Plus, it's easier for the students and less stressful. In my opinion, I think that they should give the students Friday as their day off instead of Monday because everyone knows Mondays are the worst day of the week. On the flip side, I believe that a four day school week could be bad for students grades. They'd be focused on what they were going to do on their day off instead of their homework.

  218. katherine

I think that would be awesome, I personally would love to have a four day school week. Even though there may be more homework given out on the weekends I would take it. There would be alot of benifit from it I would love to have that happen to our school district. As long as we would not start school earlier, however that would cause alot of problems for kids in sports they would miss alot more school. However I still think it would be a good idea.

This made me think about what I could do if I had Monday off. It would be so much fun. I could sleep in and watch tv all day. I think that would be great!

I wish we would have a 3 day weekend!!!! In N.J we have a 2 day weekend and some days off, not a lot. I would like to be in the school where there was a 3 day weekend!!!! I would be like you and like it to be Friday. I can not wait to read more.

I think It's fair that they get one more hour of school with another day off of school.

    October 6, 2008 at 9:54 am |
  228. Jessica

Your writing made me form an opinion about having Mondays off. That's pretty cool that they have Mondays off now, even if they have to stay an extra hour for school everyday. Another day off can sometimes mean more time with your family or some of your friends. It's good to have quality time with your family but sometimes if you have something to do on Saturday or Sunday, you can't spend the day with your friends or family.

    October 6, 2008 at 10:26 am |
  229. Bria

I predict that you would have to work even harder since you have no school on Mondays. But it still seems not clear why you don't have school on that day.

  230. Destiny

I wish I went to that school but I do agree on having school off on a Friday so we can have a 3 day week off. I wonder why they said you can have Mondays off .

  231. Gabrielle

I like the idea of Mondays off. But you couldn't convince the boss or Principal. But you could try, I don't think it will work. But if it did work iI Would also try for no home work. That is it .

I think having 3 days off in weekends is really cool! I just wish that our school would have 3 days off in our weekends too... I would like that much better then just 2 days off a week. It would be fun if we really did have 3 days off, but I can live with 2 days off or school each week, but we have a long weekend when it's Christmas, spring, or some kind of holiday or something! I think it's just really cool haveing Mondasy off to!

    October 6, 2008 at 11:06 am |
  233. Charlotte

I think that is a great idea. We need the extra day off! They shouls do that in my town. We still have a five day week. The only bad part about the school week thing, is that I wouldn't really want to go to school for an extra hour! I would only do it if that exra hour was for recess or socail tme! Yay! 🙂

    October 6, 2008 at 4:05 pm |
  234. Jordan

I think a 3 day weekend would be neat. But on the other hand it might be harder on the kids to keep up there grades.

    October 6, 2008 at 4:26 pm |
  235. Karla

I think this plan is beneficial to both schools and students. It gives students rest and a bit more free time, and schools a day off from spending money and time. They still get the time needed in school, without the hassle of Mondays. Perfect.

I wonder why your teacher really would let you have three days off because that is just weird. That will be bad because if you don't have school on monday then you will not be able to learn a lesson in time.

    October 7, 2008 at 3:03 pm |

Well I think you are in luck. You can play 3 days strait. Also you can have more family time. I would love to be in your school. How long is your resses?

First off, long time watcher...first time blogger. I love your show Carl. Whenever my teacher puts your show on, it makes my day. <3 it would be an HONOR for you to read this on air. But, back to the subject at hand. I think Mondays off would be a bitter sweet deal. I mean, as much as I would love to not go to school Monday, but with Mondays off, Tuesdays would become the new Monday thus making all the students want the NEW Monday, which is really Tuesday, off. Which, as we all know would cause the students to become zombies and the world would end. Ok, bye Carl.

  250. Hinako (Japan)

I like that idea!!! It'll be great to have mondays off, but I don't know if I would really like the longer school days... But it would save tons of money–it's not a bad idea.

I would like it because it would give me a long weekend.

    October 10, 2008 at 1:03 pm |
  257. Mikaela

This idea is perfect! People save money and gas by having 4 days of school instead of 1. For those people who complain about not being able to have sports or go to their job after school, would it really matter if you lost one hour on 4 days when you could practice or go to work all day monday? I think that this is perfect because it would let kids sleep more and help them be more focused on the days that we are at school.

    October 13, 2008 at 9:44 am |
  258. Dana

I think that the 4 day week would be great! you could catch up on your sleep for the 3 day weekend. If it would help the school save money i think that it would be a good idea. Also i think that the extra hour wouldnt be bad at all because in the end you would still be having less school. But the only thing is would we be going longer into the summer? and would we get less vacation times?

    October 13, 2008 at 9:44 am |
  259. Becca

I think that having Mondays off would be great. You would have more weekend time and kids would be happier because their not at school all the time. The only bad thing is that you have an extra hour, but that still leaves you a lot of time after school to do your homework. I never start my homework until 7:00 anyways. Less school, more weekend. Mondays off would be amazing.

    October 13, 2008 at 9:48 am |
  260. Zack

I thing that haveing mondays off would be so cool becaus it geves you an nether day to do homework. The whole one more hour of school is cool to. But i hope we don't get a tone of homework every night.

    October 13, 2008 at 9:55 am |
  261. Danielle

At first i would think having Mondays off would be a good thing, one less day of school. But wouldn't we hust have to go longer into the summer? And besides by the end of the day I am just inching to get out of school. Sitting all day is not a fun thing. I don't mind going to school on Mondays because then when we do have long weekends it feel great to sleep longer.

    October 13, 2008 at 9:59 am |
  262. Josh

i don't think it would work if we get 1 day more we will keep wanting more. Then we will want to go back to the monday-friday I would not like going for extra hour then there would be less time then there already is to day what I like to do.

    October 13, 2008 at 9:59 am |

it would be amazing if we could have monday off everyday! but it would be alot better if we could have friday off instead. if we had monday off no one would be saying they hate mondays. they would be saying that they love mondays. they can sleep in. and a lot more people would be alot happier if we had it off. people might not even care that they have to go to school the next day.

I think that we should not be able to have mondays of because we going to have a job some day and we need to get ready for it because they rarely get days of.

Right away i thought it would be cool to have mondays off! That would be amazing to have a three day weekened. But as i read on about having an extra hour of school, and then we will probably have to go into our summer vacation time i thought no i don't want mondays off. I already can't stand having such long classes and waiting for last hour to come so i can get out of school. I don't think that anybody would want mondays off then if we had to take time out of our summer to be in school, i would hate that! And then they say that you would get double time homework, and i already don't like getting homework so i don't think having a four day week would be cool!

I think it would be great to have mondays off. you can get more sleep and have a longer weekend. Having 4 days of school would be awesome but would that mean longer school days or cutting into our summer. It would be nice if it would have been fridays off but if we can get mondays off it would be great. But the bad thing about having mondays off is that kids wouldn't want to go to school in the middle of the week. they would keep wanting to get more days off so they can have more time to sleep. having longer weekends great but having longer school days or cutting into our summer wouldn't be so great.

I think the four day week is a great idea! I would not mind staying one extra hour at school. I would love a three day weekend! Teenagers would probably come to school less tired, and more willing to work also. I wish our school would do this!

I think the 4 day school week is an awsome idea. Not only because i would have one less day of school a week but because i think teenagers are pretty much stretched to their limit all the time with all the things they have to keep up with. I see what some people are saying about how it could cause grades to drop but i think it could also go the other way and help grades. If students have less days in school that would give them more time to do their homework and hopefully pay more attention to it. I suppose this situation has its ups and downs but i know im rooting for the 4 day week!

I think having Mondays off would be great! The only thing that I don't like about that is that you have an extra hour of school everyday which would get to be really long and boring. But having a 3 day weekend would give you more time to do your homework and more time to have fun with your friends. The 4 day week would also save money on gas and other things.

When i read the title of this i ammediately thought it was a great idea, but then after i read the whole thing my thoughts changed. I think that i'd rather have school on monday than having extra hour everyday, besides everyone is used to going to school monday through friday so i'd rather just keep the scheduel the same.

Having a 3 day weekend would be sweet! Having an extra hour of school would really be worth it. Plus if it saves a hundred thousand dollars thats awesome! It seems like a complete win win for everyone. Even if more homework is assigned it would still be worth it. I think more schools should be looking into adopting this plan.

I think it is a good idea to to have a four day week with longer school days. The classes would only be about five minutes longer so it would seem that bad. Also it would be nice to have those minutes to do homework.

It would be awesome to have a four-day week! I would hang out with my buddies!

I would like that a lot better than five days a week. I think you would have a lot more time to hang out with your friends and go do some other fun stuff. But as they said before the teachers would probably give you a lot more homework. I WOULD LOVE TO ONLY HAVE SCHOOL FOUR DAYS A WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!

We hate Mondays but if you take away Mondays from the school week, Tuesdays will just become like a Monday. And you will get that Monday feeling still but only it will be on a Tuesday.

I want mondays off. They are lucky because they only get an extra hour at school. I would not care if i had to stay one more hour only if I got Mondays off. Mondays off sounds great. You kids are so lucky I want to live were you live.

It would be awesome to have a three day weekend and only and hour added on to a day. But then again there are some down sides like more homework over the weekend which would make it seem like only a 2 day weekend. Also I would be wiling to stay another hour for a three day weekend.

Your writing made me form an opinion about how unfair that is! I wouldn't want to have a 4 day school week. I like being in school to much to be off 3 days per week. Last weekend we had three days off and I hated it! I love going to school!!!!

I disagree that four day school weeks are the best. I all ready think you have no time to do anything 6 hour of school but 7 hour would be worse. I rather take one more day of school then one more hour.

I think this is sooo awesome and I think all schools should only have school 4 days a week, it gives more time for vacations and more time to do stuff on the weekends, and you learn just as much as you would with more school, it also gives more time for sports , and other stuff.

I think Mondays off would be awesome. A day without parents to get refreshed and ready for school! It also shouldn't have any reprecussions either.

School is tough and all, but all it does is prepare you for your job after school where you'll probably be working a 5 day work week. I don't disaprove this idea but having a full 5 days of school is not bad either.

Who cares their luck. My cousins have 4 days of school. I'm not mad. Get over it.

I think it's a good idea because schools can save money. Although, doing the math, students will be short on about 3 or 4 hours of school a week if they only make the school days one hour or so longer...

I feel that the Mondays off idea is a good idea. As teenagers get older they will become more busy on the weekends. They will be out Friday and Saturday night, so then Sunday is a day to relax and catch up on sleep. Usually one night will not get you fully caught up on sleep, so if students would have Mondays off then they could have two days to catch up on sleep. Then teachers wouldn't have to deal with so many kids falling asleep on Mondays because they had such a busy weekend and didn't get enough sleep. The students would be well rested when they come bakc to school on Tuesdays, also. Overall the Mondays off idea would be a win-win for everyone.

As long as we don't have to work hard if the schools are closed then it is okay or let it be what it is.
