Most Memorable Headlines

Today, our producer and I were discussing the headlines of the '07-'08 school year and wondering which ones really stood out to you.   From a show that has covered everything from natural disasters to on-campus hugs to the U.S. presidential race, what do you remember most?

Hi Carl! We first want to say how awesome you are (like Fridays). The headline that stood out to us most had to be the one about wildfires in the Everglades. This is because we need to preserve our enviroment. Thanks for promoting awareness.

What I remember the most, is you (Carl Azuz) dancing at the end of year last year! Ha! Ha! Ha! That's so funny!

Hey, Carl! What stood out to me was the disaster in Myanmar. My Church mission team was in Myanmar at the time (in a different region though) and I've know about the communist strain on the people there for a while. Just to watch the images and know the world is seeing the Governments resistence gives me hope that something may be done to give these people their freedoms. 😀

WOW! What a great year. The headline that stood out most to me was about the town in the U.K. that has put padding on things you can run into while texting. We need to remeber, text-walking causes boo boo's.

The show I remember, is when you had the show of the anniversary of Virginia Tech. I remember looking at my friend, and we were both sad about that.........I hope that something doesn't happen like that again.

Though I didn't see alot of CNN Student News this year (I've been watching since early April), the most memorable headline for me this year is the one on that first weekday after that cyclone hit Myanmar. I haven't seen natural disaster damage like that in a long time...

    May 27, 2008 at 7:22 pm |
  7. Mrs. Klaver's 7th Grade World Geo Class

The class was divided between the disaster in Myanmar and the turbulant events in China the last couple of months.

The best part of the year was going to Solo and Ensemble. We went last fall and in the spring. I had a trio in the fall and a trio and a solo in the spring. I got a 1 on my solo and we got a 2 on both of our trios. It was an awesome experience.

    May 28, 2008 at 8:51 am |
  9. Kaylan

The show that I remember most was the one about the wedding pictures. That was so amazing. I can't believe the photographer still took pictures! I would have ran.

  10. Alice

Hmm...I think it's the Myanmar disaster, and the government's respond to it. I'm really glad I wasn't born in that country. 🙁

the story that stuck out to me most was how we would be without the internet, our the expelled for kissing, these were so interesting and i hope that you keep the good work up.

  12. RJ

    Hey Carl,

What stuck out to me the most this year was the Olympics, and in every nation the torch is attached by some stupid person. People need to realize the the earth is a whole, and we all need to live in peace NOT in disagreement. Fighting gets really old after a while from my experience in life, and i wish everyoen would just get along!!!!!

Peace out brother from another mother!!!

  13. Jager

Our favorite headline here in Parchment, MI had to be the potato song.
We liked it so much that our class youtubed it, and our class made a potato dance in honor of the delectable little morsel.

    May 28, 2008 at 12:34 pm |
  14. Cedrick

The most memorable news story for me would have to be the one about the huge hamburger they made to win a world record.

    May 28, 2008 at 1:45 pm |
  15. Zach

I think the most memorable thing this school year was when I was helped out by more than one person when I was struggling in science this year. I think that it was worth it though, because now I am getting a lot better grades in science than I was in the 1st quarter of the school year. I also think that this was the best school year ever.

    May 28, 2008 at 3:17 pm |
  16. Meredith

Koczot's Class...Well I Think That The Olympics Stuck Out Sorta. Cool.

    May 28, 2008 at 3:21 pm |
  17. Hans

The story that most stood out to me was that camel that could predict the winning team of the superbowl. It's truly amazing that a camel could do that just by eating gram crackers.

    May 28, 2008 at 4:37 pm |
  18. kyle

My favorite student news was when that lady went to the bathroom and the snake was in the toilet.

    May 28, 2008 at 4:54 pm |
  19. Hans

    Hey Carl,
The story that I remember the most was that guy who built stuff out of ramen noodles. Some of his works were really cool! What did he do with all the flaver packets?

P.S. Why do you always end the show with a lousy pun?

    May 28, 2008 at 4:54 pm |
  20. Kayleigh (Mr.Koczot's #1 Student!)

Wow! What is my favorate story of this year? Well, this made me think hard because this show always has alot of good stories! But I do have to say that one of my favorate stories was that really intresting one about how an artist made art out of roman noodles! That really shocked me! I cannot belive all of the creativity that came out of those peices of art. Another Story that I loved was the one where the woman dressed up her horse in a poodle suit for a halloween pet costume contest. Then last but DEFINETLY not least was the story about the mouse that was made into an artist! I couldn't belive that they put a MOUSES ART in a museum! So, now you know what my favorate stories were. 🙂

    May 28, 2008 at 5:23 pm |
  21. Mitchel

My favorite headline story was "Shout out!"
I was addicted to its cheerful tone.
When anchor says "You've got 3 seconds...", I say with him or her talking.
Maybe, it is the best hit in student news.

    May 28, 2008 at 6:10 pm |
  22. Mya

I really liked the story about the safety stuff they were doing because people were walking and texting and running into things. Everyone in Mr. Koczot's first core thought it was funny. My friend says that 2nd core liked it too. Plus, a lot of kids these days walk and text. We're glad you shared it with us.

    May 28, 2008 at 6:57 pm |
  23. Regina

I think the best story that was on CNN student news would have to be the one about the girl whose friend died before the prom and she got people to donate dresses for kids who couldn't get one.

    May 28, 2008 at 7:09 pm |
  24. Regina

I think that my favorite story would acually have to be the one about the U.K. putting the padding up on poles and such to protect the people who are texting and walking at the same time. ( not a very good thing to do if you can multi-task)

    May 28, 2008 at 7:19 pm |
  25. rebecca

thank you for letting us know more of whats going around in the world we are really going to miss you but we are looking forward for CNN student news after summer.

    May 28, 2008 at 7:26 pm |
  26. Nicholas

It is really hard to tell you what my favorite story is because I liked them all and they all had a good twist to them, well..... I'm wasting time. My favorite story was the one when they where spending a total truck load of moeny on different numbered license plates. I thought that was pretty cool! I wonder who bought number 1?

    May 28, 2008 at 7:49 pm |
  27. Jordan

I think that the stories about sport atheletes taking steroids is really important and I remember them well. I think this because when the athletes took steroids it was really disappointing fans because a lot of kids really look up to those athletes and when they just cheats like that it just lets people down. That's why I remember it well.

    May 28, 2008 at 8:52 pm |
  28. Shay

I saw quite a few stories that I thought were interesting, but one of my favorites was the man who made art out of ramen noodles. It was so creative and funny. I also though that the monkeys who were so smart and could remember so much were awsome. I think we have a few very... special... monkeys in Mr. Kozoct's 2nd core!!! 😀

    May 28, 2008 at 9:04 pm |
  29. katy

the story that has stuck with me is the story about the natural disater in Myanmar and the story about people buying license plates as a status thing...thats insane!!!

    May 29, 2008 at 12:13 am |
  30. Hong-min

I remember the headline on May 27th. The news of the Phoenix's safe touchdown relieved my tiresome day. I hope that I could follow the Phoenix's footsteps and go to Mars.

    May 29, 2008 at 6:31 am |
  31. erico

As sad and traggic as they have been, the College campus and public schools shootings. Those helpless victims fallen at the hand(s) of cowardly, sick, demented individuals. I have a registered weapon, a license to carry it and training to use it. To think that there are many out there without those basic requirements, makes me target shoot each day !!! At the range.

    May 29, 2008 at 8:50 am |
  32. Tiffany

I'll miss your show! Especially the one that's comin' out at 6/13, because that's Friday the thirteen and I'm wondering what you'll say on that day. But then I realise that you won't be having a show on that day. Too bad!

And I never thought that my "message" will be said by Carl Azuz on TV Cool !

    May 29, 2008 at 8:58 am |
  33. Jamie

The most fun moment was when you showed the dog that was inside a truck! That was really funny. Another thing!!!! When you showed a parade of pizzas. That looked really delicious!

    May 29, 2008 at 9:37 am |
  34. Brianna and Massey's Govt Class

Hey Carl! The thing that we remember most is all of the wonderful puns that you make at the end of the news every day. They always make our days brighter! WE LOVE YOU CARL!!!!!

    May 29, 2008 at 11:19 am |

    May 29, 2008 at 11:29 am |
  41. Tavin

one thing that i strongly i disagree with is the gas prices that are sweeping the nation. they are insanely expensive. another thing that i disagree with is when they said the cell phones give you cancer.

    May 29, 2008 at 11:33 am |
  42. chirs

the things that i disagree with is cell phones give you cancer and i also think the gas prices are way to high

    May 29, 2008 at 11:38 am |
  43. Dakota

The most memerable headline to me is the three presidential election candidates agreeing about the mass genocide in Darfur. Its great that there finally uniting together to stop the violence and thats just what we need in the world.

    May 29, 2008 at 11:43 am |
  44. Mayra A

Hey CNN staff!! I just wanted to say that you guys are AmAzing except those puns that you guys throw in at the end they need a little help..But besides that everything is Good.I think its Crazy how gas prices have risen here in Riverside, Ca. It's more than $4. I was wondering if it is true that gas is expected to be $7 in the future?

    May 29, 2008 at 11:58 am |
  45. Mr. Coulter

The most memorable story was the one where you featured a man who had invented his own wings and jet-propelled pack. That was crazy...reminded me of Iron Man.

    May 29, 2008 at 12:04 pm |
  46. george

I think for me the memorial day honoring the fallen was the most memorable

    May 29, 2008 at 1:30 pm |
  47. Steve

The most memorbal one this year for me was the one when the two kids were going to prom but stoped and saved the old persons life. That was very nice of them most people wouldnt care but they did.

    May 29, 2008 at 1:33 pm |
  48. meghan

I choose the story about the bride and groom at there wedding when the earthquake hit. Mainly beacuse it proves that nothing can break true love, as scared as the groom was he found his wife and held onto her tight until the quake was over and they both survived, going on to spend many more loveing and memorable moments together!

    May 29, 2008 at 1:36 pm |
  49. shane

was up carl!the thing that stands out to me the most is that there is alot of bad things happening such as , catastrophies in china and myanmar, in the world that you tell us.but i like at the end of every show you present to us somthing good happening to us instead of leaving us with a scary stoy in our mind...peace!

    May 29, 2008 at 1:45 pm |
  50. Sarah, Andrea, and a little help from Jasmine

All of CNN's headlines are interesting but our favorite has to be the wedding in China during the earthquake. We thought is was awesome that the photographer captured the moment in distress for all the couples... although it's not a good thing that so many people lost their lives. We are happy that all the people from the photo's made it out safely. We can't wait to see what tomorrow"s headline will be.

    May 29, 2008 at 1:51 pm |
  51. vanessa

The Most Memorable Headline was about the earthquake in China and how couples were getting married and the earthquake interrupted the wedding. They still made it out of the church alive and were available to take some wedding pictures.

    May 29, 2008 at 1:52 pm |
  52. Diana

The most memorable moment to me was when I found out about the the cupple that was getting married when the earthquack started and they almost died.

    May 29, 2008 at 1:56 pm |
  53. lucio

My favorite headline of the year was the pirate ship attack and you dancing. that was funny. Mrs. Caipa is the best teacher she's awsome but i also like that wedding video.

    May 29, 2008 at 3:56 pm |
  54. Hans

I thought the one where they put up all that padding everywhere was pretty funny. But people can get hurt pretty badly if they are walking while they are texting.

    May 29, 2008 at 4:04 pm |
  55. Yvonne

The most memorable moment was when i heared that china had a 9.7 earthquake. The part that scared me was when I saw all the buildings collapsed and that millions of people who died from that shake. It's sad that many people died, but I'm glad that some people survived from it.

    May 29, 2008 at 4:20 pm |
  56. Ms. Deis

    Hi there Carl!

According to my US History 8th graders, the most interesting stories/features of the year were:

    –Cyclone in Myanmar
    –The MLK Jr. Assassination
    –The Nazis in Bakersfield

But our favorite story of all was the feature on Austism and the brave young teenage girl who was communicating through her computer. She was inspiring and according to Heidy, "it was REALLY interesting".

We'll miss you over the summer!

Ms Deis' 8th Grade History Class

  57. Mr. Miller's 6th Grade Class

After small group discussions, we discovered that a majority of the girls listed the presidential election as the most important news issue this year, and the majority of the boys listed rising gas prices. We also found that the election was low on the boys' list and rising gas prices was not on the girls' list of issues. It made for an interesting class discussion. Thanks for asking us.

    May 29, 2008 at 6:39 pm |
  58. Ryan from mr.k's s.s. class

Hi carl, what stuck out to me this year was the 2008 olimpics when they took the torch up on the mountine ok well thats it thanks

    May 29, 2008 at 7:04 pm |
  59. Peyton

I think the most memorable moments are the ones about the candidates(I know it sounds weird and all, but I have a good reason). I like looking at the people in the backround and what they do. Oh, before I forget, (If I could forget the awesome things) your puns at the end of the show rock!

    May 29, 2008 at 8:59 pm |
  60. Ashley

I'd have to say that the fire in the everglades was the most memorable headline, in my opinion. I've been to Florida several times and it's a shame to see such a beautiful place get destroyed like that. But on a different note, Carl, I'll never forget your "wonderful" ending lines! Your bad jokes make me look forward to watching cnn student news. every day when I start watching it, everyone in my class looks at me like I'm a freak because I yell "yay it's Carl!" haha. you rock!

    May 29, 2008 at 9:55 pm |
  61. Shay

the thing i definetely remember most were all the natural
disasters . . . its terrible!! its because of all the global warming.

    May 30, 2008 at 12:12 am |
  62. Grace

What striking me most is the unreasonable skyrocketing oil price in the U.S. The oil price in Taiwan just incrased a few days ago, and the most population couldn't afford it and complained a lot. I'm really afraid that soon Taiwaness will suffer what Americans are suffering now in transportation.

    May 30, 2008 at 8:20 am |
  63. Saracina's best class ever

We think that the segment on the girl with autism was the most memorable show of 2008. It touched our hearts and even made our teacher tear up. It was amazing to find out that there is a way for autistic people to speak out and communicate with people. It made our teacher cry...seriously.

    May 30, 2008 at 11:51 am |
  64. Charlie

i would just like to say Carl, nice moves.

    May 30, 2008 at 12:01 pm |

    May 30, 2008 at 12:26 pm |
  66. Omar

The most memorable story for me was the one about Youssif.

    May 30, 2008 at 4:05 pm |
  67. Courtney

  69. Ashley Mr.koczots wierdest student

THe most memorblestory was the noodles but i would really want to cook them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    May 30, 2008 at 8:56 pm |
  70. Kaitie (Mr. Koczot's REAL favorite student)

I found a lot of the stories shown on CNN Student News were interesting but two really stood out to me. First the story where the artist made those sculptures out of Ramen Noodles. That was insanely creative. (I still want to know what he did with all the little spice packets though.) Then the story where they padded nearly the whole city so no one would get hurt trying to walk and text. That was really funny that the government cared so much about that.

    May 31, 2008 at 1:31 pm |
  71. Alex

The news of natural disasters and soaring energy price impress me deeply. Because these news are warning us that our earth is overloaded and overused. The environment is getting unfavorable to people's living. We should make efforts to preserve the earth at once.

    June 1, 2008 at 10:25 am |
  72. Joey

My favorite story this year was probably the story about the person who paid millions of dollars just to buy the number 5 license plate. It was funny how people would pay more money for a license plate than for a car. I wonder how much money people paid to get the number 1 license plate.

    June 1, 2008 at 10:27 am |
  73. Emily (Koczot's Actual #1 Student! NO DOUBT! ASK HIM!)

My most memorable Headline is from the Before We Go Segment. I loved it when they had the halloween dress up contest for animals and some one shaved their clidesdale to look like a poodle! I thought that was soo cute!!!! I think i will do that to my two labs, Matti and Coal next Halloween!! HA!

    June 1, 2008 at 1:59 pm |
  74. Mr. Carpers American History Class

I think all of us really appreciate the coverage of America votes. Everyday the students write three facts from student news and our favorite is the ongoing battle between Barack and Hillary.

    June 1, 2008 at 7:48 pm |
  75. :)

I know! The man who dialed the phone with his toes! That's really amazing! I think I can't do that!

    June 2, 2008 at 5:10 am |
  76. Cheeto

I'm just glad that the time we were watching your show we weren't working! By the way, you need a new toupee.

    June 2, 2008 at 10:21 am |
  77. Carl Azuz, Anchor

TOUPEE?! Look, Cheeto, while I realize that a lot of TV folks may wear hairpieces, I can assure you that I am NOT one of them. I'm proud to say that my hair is naturally this ridiculous-looking.

    June 2, 2008 at 2:44 pm |
  78. Ellie

I think the most memorable story of the year was "Young People Who Rock" Kates Club. I like this segment because it showed that if we don't tell our story, it will always be hidden inside. I am glad that all ages go to the club. I bet it makes them feel alot better on the inside. The club allowed others to see that they are not alone.

    June 2, 2008 at 10:43 pm |
  79. Brian Mr. Koczot coolest student!!!!!

I really liked the story about the green wall of China. Its good to see more people taking place in saving their country.

    June 3, 2008 at 6:58 am |
  80. Travis from Mrs. Trautt's Class

My favorite news story of this year was when you talked about Autism. It was very emotional for me since I have autism and not that many people know about it. Also it was great that you went through myths and facts on it. This taught my entire class about what I have and what makes me special.

    June 3, 2008 at 12:03 pm |
  81. Mr. Koczot

Carl – Let me start off by saying that I think it's great you have a blog and allow your viewers (mostly students) to get involved. Also, let me go on the record and say – I have NO "favorite" students! I must say they are all great – especially this year's group of kids!

Now – onto why we're here... The major memorable headlines... This year, what stood out to me as a teacher, were all the stories "Student News" covered outside the U.S. From Guatemala, to the plane crash in Ecuador, to Haiti, to the man who turned himself into police in the U.K., to Germany, to Kosovo becoming an independant country and making history on world maps, to Russia, to Japan, to China, to, of course, the disaster in Myanmar. Covering all these countries gives your viewers and my students a great realistic perception of the world.

May I add two other great things this past year that I give CNN credit for – one, the Planet in Peril series... a very memorable documentary, and two, allowing classes to take part in events such as the one my kids did on the recognition of Veterans Day. A huge THANKS for everything this past year, CARL and MONICA – two great news anchors. My kids send a "Shout Out" to both of you!

    June 3, 2008 at 3:38 pm |
  82. Brian Mr. Koczot's Coolest student!!!

    Carl,

I just wanted to say FRIDAYS ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    June 3, 2008 at 3:54 pm |
  83. Delilah

I remember the bad puns and the potato song the best

    June 3, 2008 at 7:04 pm |
  84. Ray (Mr. Koczot's #0 student)

I think the most memorable story this year, is the one where the kid was accused of setting off a whole bunch of fire extinguishers, because I can really relate to that one. I get falsely accused A LOT, and I understand it's really stupid when people don't belive you.

    June 3, 2008 at 8:48 pm |
  85. Ray (Mr. Koczot's #0 student)

Man, it's really got to be a drag to do your business in an airlock, and then send it out into space! Man, I feel for those guys.

    June 3, 2008 at 8:52 pm |
  86. Meghan

Most of the year I have been thinking about when CNN student newzzz reported on the two students that gave each other and hug and got expelled. I though that was a very sillyy thing. I give my friends and even boys hugs at school all the time and I don't get in trouble, I really don't see whats wrong with that. I always wanted to give a shout out to Carl for is just amazing jokes!! they are soo funny!! Every day at school when we watch the news in class we look forward to that! We always count down the days until wednesday, thursday, and friday!! Our favorite joke is when carl said' thats where we finnnn ish todays show!'
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!! SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!!
    OHH
PS. THE JONAS BROTHERS ARE AMAZING!!! <333

This is a hard choice! I enjoyed watching your show and all of the stories on it. I loved the story about how so many people were paying millions of dollars just to get a specific liscense plate! It was also really cool when my classmates and I were on the show on your "Salute The Veterans" edition. Thanks Carl and Monica for a great year!

the two storiesi remember the most are increasing gas prices and natural disasters like the cyclone in Myanmar and the earthquake in China.I remember these two the most because it is important to know what people are doing as a result of increasing gas prices and it is also important to know about natural disasters because that way we can be able to help all the people that were affected by the natural disasters.

    My Favorite News Story
This year has been filled with great news stories but my favorite story had to be the story of the cat, dog, and rat all getting along in harmony. This story got my attention because it got you Carl really excited so it got me really excited. The other thing that got me really interested in this story was the video you showed when the cat was on top of the dog and the rat was on top of the cat. It was hilarious looking and I loved how they were running around in circles. This to me shows that everyone including animals or people can get along and be friends. I hope you put up more of these really interesting and funny videos because to me they catch a lot of peoples attention. I can’t wait to see more of you next year!

Hey Carl, my favorite story this year has got to be the one about hte liscence plates and how the lower they got the more expenizive they were. I dont know why it was my favorite but it just seemed pretty cool to me. I guess i just trhought it was cool because people were paying so much money just for a liscence plate with a low number. Isaw pretty much every episode this year Carl. My journalism Teacher has us watch it eery day in the begining of class. the second episode i saw was the first time the shout out was to this class. thank you Carl for a wonderful cnn student news show the whole year.

    Dear Carl,
The best news story was when the camel ate the cracker that said the Giants would win the Super Bowl. The camel was right! That is a smart camel, I wish I had a pet that could give me the outcome things. Then I would aske it any question and the animal would give me the right answer. Hopfully he will be right.

    Hey Carl!

I love your CNN student news...you are AWESOME!!!! My favorite CNN topic was...actually I don’t really have one but, I really liked the segment on potatoes though! When the potato was dancing with the viola and singing “POTATO POTATO POTAOTO!!!” And all of the potatoes filled the screen! Oh my gosh... I was laughing so hard with my friends that I couldn’t STOP! I also really liked this last one when you were dancing! HAHA! sooooo funny...you are a great dancer! And the one where you introduced CNN with that accent! Soo funny! Well, I really enjoyed watching your CNN Student News every day in journalism...I look forward to watching them next year! You rock! See you next year...

First i just want to say. I LOVE CNN STUDENT NEWS... it is the only reason I come to school everyday my favorite "episode" was when you gave a shoutout to MS FARRELL JOURNALISM CLASS. i like your sweet dance moves i think you should consider a career in dance

    Dear Carl,
Thanks for all of the news stories through out the year. My entire journalism class loves you. Some of the guys in my class make jokes about you, but their just joking. All of your news stories of Friday and the end of your segments are very funny. One of my favorites is the rat riding the cat, riding the dog, it is so funny to see that happen. We all love it when you make the joke at the end. The stories that make me laugh the most are the one that involve animals and people getting hurt. The stories that interest me the most are the ones that involve money or the price of something, like that one with the really expensive coffee or tea, who would buy it? So all in all, thanks for all of the important information through the year, you have been really great.

My most memorable story this year was when the girl collected the dresses and donated them to people who needed them. It was my favorite because the girl really showed that she cared about other people and she wanted to do anything that she could have done to help the girls.
Another story that was very memorable was when that person paid millions of dollars to buy that license plate. It showed me that people will pay that much money just for a license plate. I think that it’s kind of ridiculous because it’s just a license plate and you can buy just a regular license plate that just as nice.
I also remember when the Olympic torch was on its way through all of the different countries and when it was going through England, the number of the people protesting about the Olympics shouldn’t be held in China astonished me. Even one person tried to grab the torch and the police was surrounding the torch.

    Hi Carl!
The most memorable news headline was the one about the earthquake in China and the wedding pictures. It's so sweet how the photographer captured pictures of the couple during the hurricane, since the natural disaster made a bond between them. Personally if I was the photographer I would have screamed and run like there was no tomorrow (since there probably wouldn't be). Those pictures probably made the couple closer than ever and that's really great!

Hey Carl!!!!!!! The most memorable news stories on CNN would probably be the cyclone in Myanmar. That was the most memorable because it was very intense (because the Myanmarnese government wasn't allowing immediate aid to the survivors) and it was the most eye catching news headline. It was also a very sad event that took place and it shows people how unpredictable Mother Nature can be.

    June 9, 2008 at 2:06 pm |
  134. Alan

The most memorable story was the Myanmar cyclone disaster. And I thought Katrina was bad, Myanmar is way worse. I feel bad that the people who suffered from the disaster, I think the cause is global warming, creating stronger hurricanes.
My 2nd most memorable story was the opposing of China being host for the 2008 Olympics. Olympics should be competition for sports, not bringing anything else. The image that got stuck in my head is when a lady said down with China, and people trying to put the flame out. Those are my most memorable stories.

    Hey Carl,

I am a seventh grade student from a middle school in Virginia. I absolutely love watching you report to us on CNN. Student News. My favorite report of all time was the report on the cyclone in MYanmar. I really enjoyed how you went into specific detail about what went on there. I even wrote an entire two page article on the cyclone because you got me so interested in it. I even got an A on the essay for using quotes from you. Another story that I really enjoyed watching was the most recent one about the golden cup. I can't believe that the cup really sold for one hundred thousand dollars. Let me tell you, I would definitely not mind having that kind of money. Still I can't believe that the man actually sold it at a public auction. If it were mine, I would have looked for a private buyer who would have paid way more for it. Oh well. Anyway Carl, thanks for an absolutely terriffic school year and for teaching me so much about the news. Have a terriffic summer and I hope to see you next year on my favorite broadcast, CNN. Student News.

Carl I think you are the coolest dancer, comedian, news reporter in the world. You are the one who makes CNN Student News exciting. Monica is also a great news caster too. But you my friend are the greatest. You put emphasis in your news casting and make it great to listen to and watch. You also make and funny joke at the end of the “Before We Go”. I crack up laughing every time I here one of your jokes. My favorite episode was when you announced our class of Ms. Farrell Journalism class at Cooper Middle School. I was shocked and surprised that you called our class. But I am disappointed that it’s over till next year. I can not wait until next year. I will see you then.

    Hey Carl,
I think my most memorable headline was the first woman and first African American running for our president candidate. It was really cool and now Hillary Clinton is dropped out but she's supporting her former rival, Barrack Obama. I think it is really different and giving new part of politics, I guess; 🙂
Second memorable headline was our Mars rover 'Phoenix' had been successfully arrived at Mars. I realized our science and technology advanced again, and soon we will accomplish to observe other planets too!
Third one was probably Darfur in genocide. It was really sad and it gives me very powerful image and our journalism class made a T-shirt and wristband. Also in advanced journalism class, they made a big poster and made a brochure. The photo of Darfur looks like all people seems so suffering and painful. I hope the genocide won’t happen in any country in this world.

My comment comes after seeing the coverage you had on the midwest floods. I had a thought come to me when I heard that the pan handle of Oklahoma has been going through a severe drought. This idea probably would be costly at first, but think of this off setting the loses many of these people have had through this 500 year flood. How crazy would it be to construct some kind of flood channel to take water on after the Mississippi had reached flood levels? Let this water run freely to an area that could take on water. Obviously, elevation & gravity would play into this. Any thoughts?
