Have a Hug...A Quick One

A couple aspects of Wednesday's hugging story that I really liked:  The protest was peaceful, and the students and administrators were able to work out an agreement on a new rule.  I don't remember if my high school had a rule about stuff like this; I don't think it was spelled out, but of course teachers could split up anything they thought was inappropriate.

What I think is kind-of amusing about what happened in Arizona:  How are they gonna enforce it?  It's funny to think of teachers standing in the halls with stopwatches, telling two-second violators to split up or sit up in detention.  On the other hand, who wants to do all that hugging anyway, especially after P.E.?  "I just ran two miles and I smell like socks.  Let's hug."

Texting Trouble

Confession time:  I text.  And I occasionally walk into stuff while doing it.  Now I haven't broken an arm or a leg of my own (yet), but there are a couple smashed-up steamrollers, cracked concrete columns, and dented dump trucks that collided with this anchor on the move...

Anyway, smack talk aside, that's why I think that our texting report from Wednesday's show is so interesting.  Imagine having corners and posts in your city (or at your school) wrapped in thick padding so that students didn't get hurt while texting!
