New Year, New Laws

Hi, I'm Donna Krache, executive producer of CNN Student News.  Part of my job is to find news stories that are informative and interesting.  In my digging, I learn some interesting stuff, like this:  Many states have new laws that have gone into effect with the new year.   For example, I've learned that Washington just outlawed text messaging while driving and in California it's illegal to smoke with a child in the car.  And 14 states have raised the minimum wage as of January 1st.   So here's a serious question for you:  What law would you like to see in effect where you live?  Blog your thoughts here!

I live in Minnesota and every time I go to stores to go shopping the only choice of bags are usually plastic. It annoys me to see that San Francisco can make the law for less plastic bags and more earth clean biodegradable bags and we can't. I just don't get why San Fransisco can do it but not Minnesota.

I think it would be nice to have the same laws that you mentioned Washington and California now have. That would help the death rate lower.

Have no respect for anyone running for a public offiice who never darkens a church door , to get in the pulpit on Sunday morning and rattle off about being such a good Christian. This burns me up.
It looks like the IRS would step in and take away the tax exemption from any church that condones this sort of activity. Whatever happened to the law about (seperation of church and state.
