Safer Waters

Monday's story on a deadly amoeba lurking in some U.S. lakes served a dual purpose:  to inform and to warn.  At the end of his report, John Zarrella tells us to wear nose clips if we're swimming in lakes whose water temperature is over 80 degrees.  Not sure about the water temperature?  Wear a clip, or stay out altogether.

But here's something interesting:  The CDC says that you can't be infected by this amoeba if you're swimming in a properly maintained pool – the chlorine kills the amoeba.  So if it's still warm enough to swim in your town, opt for the bluer waters!
