What You'd Bring Along

For one man, it was the keys to his Damascus apartment.  Another brought his mobile phone for the photos and voicemails on it.  A Syrian woman brought her diploma, a reminder of the education she plans to continue.

These are what Syrian refugees took with them as they left their homes during their country's civil war.  Some things have symbolic value; some have sentimental value; some have monetary value.

What's something you'd never leave behind?

I would bring something sentimental to get me through the tough times. Truth be told though, if I saw a little kid crying, I'll give away Mr. Brown (my precious stuffed bear) to the child.

It's a difficult question because I would bring more than one thing! There are a lot of important things in peoples lives, and almost everyone would bring what ever they could carry!

If I need to choose one thing before leaving my home quickly, I'm going to grab my letterbox. I don't have a lot of mails in my letterbox. But I truly was encouraged and remotivated by reading the small proportion of letters in the letterbox when I was tough. I remember I could feel alive through not eating much or having lots of money but reading letters from my friends and parents.

I think that if i was forced to leave my home there are 3 things I would bring with me. the first thing i would bring is my phone so i could talk to my friends and family on the other side. The second thing i would bring is my certificates from lacrosse and wrestling and also the jackets and also my gear from both sports to so I remember the skills i still acquire from playing those sports. The last thing I would bring would be my first Christmas presents from when i was a baby so that I can remember that holiday many years ago. There is also 2 more things that i would bring because it is one thing that shows everyone what i am good at besides saving money and that one thing would be my models and the picture of the planes that my grandpa flew in world war 2 so i can remember what my grandpa used to do and used to say to me and what he called me every time he saw me and the most important reason is because of what he told me about when he was in world war 2 and what he did when he was in world war 2.

If i had to bring only one thing along I would bring something very important to me. I would bring my dad's urn. I would because I really loved my dad and he was like my idol. Another reason is when my dad passed my mom let us (my sisters and I) have his urn. I always used to talk and play with him when I was little. A last reason is having my dad's urn by my side at night feels comforting, it feels as if he is right there with me. the last couple of years have been very strange with our family. My dad was very special to all of my family and always will, no person could ever replace my dad. My dad's urn has an eagle on the front and says his name, so it is a very beautiful decoration. We picked an eagle because he always wanted to soar with the eagles on Pikes Peak.

People may say that bringing an electronic isn't as important as other items but I could just say they need to look into reality. We live in a world where people rely on electronics to store important information. I would not leave behind my Iphone. Looking at some comments people say they would bring certain pictures or a journal. Truth ids, we live in the twenty-first century and all those things can be stored in an apple product. One small item can hod a lot more necessary information than you think.

I would snatch up my phone and such in a heartbeat. I would probably also bring along things that we need everyday and things that are important to me, but I would lose all of that to bring my family. They mean the world to me and honestly with a brother like mine, it'll be much more entertaining than a game on my phone.

I would bring my sketch book and pencils, and if possible, my Bible. They would be a means of escape from what was happening, and would remind me even through those times that if God would consider the small details of me, like my art skills, and that He'd care enough to make sure His Word was written so His children could read it, He would definitely be in control of whatever would have forced me from my home.
