Too Good To Play?

That's what a rule says about 11-year-old Demias Jimerson.  If his team is up by 14 points and he's already scored three touchdowns, Jimerson isn't allowed to score any more.

Why?  To give the other players a chance to score, according to the principal.  But whether that's fair or whether it goes too far is now in your hands.

Well the rule is unfair and kinda is fair because what if the opposing team has a lead nd they need Demias becuase the other players are not doing well now Demias is their only hope.

It's a good and bad rule at the same time and I think that if they think that he has already scored enough and he always plays like this that they should move him up into a higher level and they shouldn't ever sit a kid out because of that so what there team is winning because they're good they always play the good player it's just the right thing to do

This is completely unprofessional! If a student has great athleticism then he or she should be allowed to play to their fullest. Making it so a student can not play to his or her full potential is outrageous. Students should be allowed to play no matter how good they are and they should not be discriminated against because of there abilities

I think the coach was not only being smart, but fair, too. the 11 year old can't always hog the ball and he needs to learn to let the others shoot some hoops as well.

It's good to let other players have a chance to score, but it can be unfair to Demias. He shouldn't not be able to score because he has already scored a certain amount of touchdowns. I do like how they want to let other players have a chance to score though.

  6. Alex

This is not fair because he is just scoring touchdowns. Its not the end of the world if he doesn't pass the ball.

    October 3, 2011 at 5:27 pm |
  7. Viola

His coach was really fair. Keeping the ball away from the other team and his team is not fair at all. He should score two or three hoops and pass the ball to one of his team mates or the other team. But if the coach really wanted to cream the other team he might as well keep him in the game.

Thats not fair to him it might be to the coach to try and use team spirt but he probly could have won the game ! Also its just a game don't get so mad over it .

I play football and theres an amazing 11 year old who scores all the touchdowns but our coches always play him in so what if he gets hurt and they don't have another player that's expierenced anough to play so I think they should play him in a little bit more but also try some new players in his possition.

    October 3, 2011 at 6:02 pm |

Well you want others to get playing time yes it is a good rule, but if the kid is that good take him out. Maybe take him out for only a quarter and bring him back in. Really if the kid is that good he should be playing something other than school ball.

I think it is good to let everyone play, but then you are limiting a child's capabilites as a player by not letting them play. That is not fair to the child being put-out. They can make a request for other players to get thrown too, but being put out of the game is a little extreme.

    October 3, 2011 at 6:13 pm |
  12. Katie

I don't think that there is any reason that a child should have to sit out of a game because they are too good. And if his team is up by 14 points, the other team still has a shot, its not like the game is over. But I guess the other side can be seen. I would hate to be on the other team, getting crushed because this kid is so good. Good job Demias good job working hard and being good at what you do!

    October 3, 2011 at 6:28 pm |
  13. Lindsay

It's fair because Demias EARNED the touchdowns and he's doing something what he loves which is football! You shouldnt let some one sit out doing something they love!

  14. Jesseca

The coach and principal are BOTH being smart. Because there is no need for a ball hog. we are ALL supposed to be fair. I mean if i was on that team, i would quit. Because i personally DONT like ball hogs

why should they take someone out because of how good they are good they are. that is just unfair they should let him play

That is very unfair to Demias!!

    October 3, 2011 at 7:35 pm |
  17. Andrew

I don't think this rule is fair at all, this kid shouldn't be limited because of his talents. It's 6th grade football it's not really that big of a deal, but it's up to the coach to decide when he crosses the line between helping the team win, and rubbing it in their opponents faces with his skills.

    October 3, 2011 at 7:42 pm |
  18. Ben

This is very unfair to the student. Schools should be encouraging young athletes, not banning them from doing good at a sport. If something like this was happening at my school, I'm sure nobody would be pleased with it.

    October 3, 2011 at 7:43 pm |
  19. Madison

This rule is very fair. Damias may be an exceptional player, but he needs to learn to share the ball. It gives the other players a chance to play and work on their skill.

    October 3, 2011 at 7:44 pm |
  20. Abyalew

I think it is not really fair. He should score points if he wants. His team depend on him.

    October 3, 2011 at 7:49 pm |
  21. Abyalew

Why don't the team vote that he could score touchdowns or not?
That would be really fair wouldn't it?

well i don't like the idea of a rule for one kid. if he is good at the game let him play but also keep in mind of team work.

    October 3, 2011 at 7:54 pm |
  25. Naomi

I think the rule is fine. It's not going to be applicable once he's in 7th grade anyway, so he's not giving up much of what he loves to do. The other kids are going to have to step it up next year if they'll want to be as good as him. They should try to catch up to him while the Mercy Rule is still in effect.

    October 3, 2011 at 7:56 pm |
  26. Antonio

The rule is unfair because since the 11 year old is a great football player, he can play more games instead of sitting when he has made three touchdowns. The principal is being unfair and has forgotten that everybody should play no matter how good or bad you are.

    October 3, 2011 at 7:56 pm |
  27. maria

i think its a bad rule because, just because he is good dosent mean he sholudnt be able to play anymore.

    October 3, 2011 at 7:59 pm |
  28. Rusty

I think the rule is fair but he should go to a better team like a middle or high school team

    October 3, 2011 at 8:06 pm |
  29. Ciara

I don't think that's fair.So what if he scores three times in a row he should still be able to play the game!!Sure he should let the other players try to score but it's not fair to him out of the game just because he scored three times in a row!!

    October 3, 2011 at 8:19 pm |
  30. Brielle

i think its fair because he is a good football player and what if the team he's playing isn't that good and he wins every single game. that wouldn't fair i think.

    October 3, 2011 at 8:21 pm |
  31. Madyson

I think its fine to let the other players to have a chance but what if the other team is wining but their teamis a couple points behind what would they do then when they dont have Demias playing with them but its all ways nice to let the other players try getting tuchdowns too.

    October 3, 2011 at 8:35 pm |
  32. Matt

i think he should be put on a varsity team, or at least junior varsity and that that rule should not exist, if he is good, he is good, what can he do about reing good at football (para-something or other)

    October 3, 2011 at 8:39 pm |
  33. nate

I think its not fair because Demias should be allowed to score as much as he wants but fair so then other teams don't get crushed

    October 3, 2011 at 8:51 pm |
  34. Haley

Couldn't they just move him up a level instead of keep holding him back? Obviously he has potential, so shouldn't they be catering to that?

    October 3, 2011 at 8:53 pm |
  35. Rayann

I believe that there are no limits to what you can do and obviously God gave him that talent and the principal is restricting those talents. Aren't schools supposed to encourage students to do their best at what they are good at and not discourage them for trying their best? I think it is very unprofessional and they should let him go beyond limits.

    October 3, 2011 at 8:55 pm |
  36. brittani

I think that making him sit out is unfair it is not his fault that he is such a good player.

    October 3, 2011 at 8:57 pm |
  37. Caitlyn

im not a football player but that kid should let his team score touchdowns too not just him so he should be taken out of the game and the boy needs to share the fame because he already scored three touchdowns so the team needs to tell him to sit it out

    October 3, 2011 at 9:05 pm |
  38. Joey

I think that is fair because he still gets to score three touchdowns, while it still gives the other players a turn to score.

    October 3, 2011 at 9:07 pm |
  39. Jordan

I think it is a good idea because when the other kids are in the shadow of this great player they will tend to not do as well and their self confidence won't be very good. Anyway, Demias doesn't care, so you don't need to worry.

    October 3, 2011 at 9:13 pm |
  40. Delaney

This seems wrong. I believe every player should be allowed to play their hardest and fullest all the time. Besides this, there souldn't be a special rule for only one person. Perhaps it should be up to his coach to put him in a different position or tell him to let some others kid have a chance to score. Imagine how it must make him and the other kids on his team feel! He can't play his best, and they know they aren't as good as him because there isn't a special rule about them. It's unjust, that's all there is to it.

    October 3, 2011 at 9:18 pm |

I guess the "too good to play" t-shirt finaly made its point.

I think he should play to score but if kids want to score a touch down then let them if no one does then let him score. :)

    October 3, 2011 at 9:22 pm |
  43. Sierra

I think It is unfair, but also fair. It is a unfair because they are holding him back from playing his favorite game but then again the fair thing is they are letting others play too.

    October 3, 2011 at 9:25 pm |
  44. Isaiah

if he's that good then let him play. You shouldnt limit a kid just because he/she is "too good".If he's having fun,let the kid be himself

    October 3, 2011 at 9:26 pm |
  45. Andrew

It's good to let other players have a chance to score, but it can be unfair to Demias. He shouldn't not be able to score because he has already scored a certain amount of touchdowns. 46. Griffin

I think that it is right to put the rule in affect, especially in the 6th grade. Some kids don't even have a chance at the ball. There can't be just one star on an entire football team. It is a team sport.

    October 3, 2011 at 9:32 pm |
  47. Justin

They should either move him to a higher age level, or use Demias when they are in desperate situations. He could also help weaker team members by practicing with them and trying to correct the things they are doing wrong.

    October 3, 2011 at 9:33 pm |
  48. Anonymous

I dont think that is fair because, hes helping the team win a game not loose, just so the other players can get a shot.

    October 3, 2011 at 9:35 pm |
  49. Anonymous

It's nice that there trying to give other players encouragement. But Demias said himself that he is fine with other kids getting a chance to score themselves. Demias already scored 3 touchdowns, isn't that enough to boost his self esteem?

    October 3, 2011 at 9:39 pm |
  50. justin

I think thats insane. The team is trying to win not loose. Thats saying you cant get a touthdown so the other guys can have a chance. This is football a mans sport, and 11 is the perfect age to start playing hard.

    October 3, 2011 at 9:42 pm |
  51. Alexandra

Its nice that there letting other kids get a touchdown as well to boost there self esteem. I don't think its bogus because Demias said himself hes glad to let other kids play as well. If Demias already got three touchdowns does he really need a fourth? And have some other kid sit there on the bench and no even get to play? Even though Demias might be the all star on the team its nice there letting other kids play too.

    October 3, 2011 at 9:42 pm |
  52. Gabriela

Instead of sitting Demias out for the rest of the game after he scored 3 touchdowns is unfair. What if he scored the three touchdowns and after he left the opposing side gained the critical points that could make the once winning team lose?? He should have the same playing time as everyone else but if he begins to hog the ball *then* he should sit out and allow the rest of the team to play football.

    October 3, 2011 at 9:48 pm |
  53. Jordan

It's good cause other players can score points, but I still think that's not fair to him cause then he made all his touchdowns.

    October 3, 2011 at 10:09 pm |
  54. Kimbii

I would say this is highly unfair to Demias because, like the others, he enjoys the game. Even though he may be slightly better, it is unfair. It's like pulling a kid out because he's not very good at the game, but how do you expect him to learn...

    October 3, 2011 at 10:13 pm |
  55. samir

I think that new rule they made is fair and not fair at the same time, because he isn't the only one playing, and it wouldn't be fare for him to sit down on a bench for the rest of a game.

    October 3, 2011 at 10:14 pm |
  56. Alexa

I think that the rule is fair then both teams have a chance to score and it is a fair game!

    October 3, 2011 at 10:37 pm |
  57. SL

I don't think this is such a good rule because everybody has talents. It's his own skill! He's not cheating.

    October 3, 2011 at 10:45 pm |
  58. Jorge

I believe that there should be a limit on certain aspects. If the player is not showing good sportsmanship, than the player should be limited. If he is showing no glory and wants others to have a chance, he should give them the chance and help him score. In different aspects, all players should get a chance, but a player with high athletic ability should not be discriminated just becuase he is better than other players.

    October 3, 2011 at 10:57 pm |
  59. Ashley

It's unfair to demias, each kid has a chance to score, he just has a bigger range of scoring than others. when he does score three times he will just be standing around.

    October 3, 2011 at 10:58 pm |
  60. Tish

It's not fair to take away a kid's right to play because he's too good! On the other hand, it does let the kids who aren't as good play too. The coach should switch players around often, regardless of skill. All kids should be allowed to play.

    October 3, 2011 at 11:25 pm |
  61. kayleigh

I understand the otherplayers want their time to shine on the field but Demias is their star player he is your secret weapon let him win the game for you. Why dont you just have him sit out for half the game then put him in after halftime and catch up with the other team or get even farther ahead.

    October 3, 2011 at 11:45 pm |
  62. Jake

I think Demias should be able to score as many points as he likes, as long as he gives other players a chance. So, they shouldn't keep a kid from playing just because he's a better player, but other kids have to get a chance too.

    October 3, 2011 at 11:45 pm |
  63. Alli

Even if one player is amazing, it doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to score anymore. Even though the school is trying to give others a chance to score touchdowns, they shouldn't stop one player from doing what they love. If you really think about it, its not Demias's fault he is good at football. It's a gift that helps him, and his team win.

    October 4, 2011 at 12:22 am |
  64. Olivia

I understand that other kids deserve the chance to score. The part I don't understand is why they have to use this rule to do so.

    October 4, 2011 at 12:32 am |
  65. Max

I think people should not be held back and you should be good at what your good at especially in fun activities such as football or any other sport.

    October 4, 2011 at 1:02 am |
  66. Dylan

I think it's fair. But it's almost as if they are suppressing his full potential. I get that the coaches are trying to let the other kids score, but they shouldn't limit how many touchdowns Demias makes. It's not fair to him. They should devise a better plan so that both teammates and Demias are happy.

    October 4, 2011 at 1:49 am |
  67. Jaeyeong

I think it's unfair, because he has a mindship to score, and it's basic for a athelete, but if someone just stop him, his ability can get worse and his mindship will go down.

    October 4, 2011 at 3:46 am |
  68. Victor

I believe this was the right thing to do. If he kept on playing, the kids will learn to start relying a little too much on him, ad you know that old expressing, a chain is only as strong as weakest link, well what if the weakest link consisted of most of the chain.

    October 4, 2011 at 6:28 am |
  69. Noah

In belive that the "mercy" rule is very unfair to Jimmerson, if someone has a talent for sports he should use it.

    October 4, 2011 at 7:26 am |
  70. Cassandra

If the kid is good, LET HIM PLAY! Teams need to keep their players together, NOT APART!

    October 4, 2011 at 7:35 am |
  71. jessie

    That is rediculous!!!!
    That is so unfair
Is it his falut that he is too good?
Demias will help himself and his players evaluate their skills.
If he cannot play, then that'll be a minus for himeslf and his team mates

    October 4, 2011 at 7:50 am |
  72. Claudia

Well, I think that he should not get another chance. He has got to shoot three times. He can't hog up the field all day.

    October 4, 2011 at 7:52 am |
  73. Erin

I think that its fine to take him out of the game. Just to give others a chance.

    October 4, 2011 at 7:52 am |
  74. sarah

I think that he should be able 2 play. it dosen't matter if your good or bad. If they don't do it in the pros or in collage games then why shold they do it with an 11 and 12 year old team?

    October 4, 2011 at 7:55 am |
  75. Dylan

I think he should have the chance to score more touchdowns. If he is fine with it, then it would be okay. Also, they don't have it in collage or the NFL. Why have it in middle school football?

    October 4, 2011 at 9:01 am |
  76. Clay

This kid is great, He is so good they made a rule to stop him...... thats not right, he should be aloud to play to the best of his abilitys, regardless of how bad he makes other teams look. This is football not school. He can excell and should be let take controll, he could carry his team far.............

    October 4, 2011 at 9:24 am |
  77. Chandra

The Mercy rule is a good rule because it allows other kids to have a chance to have some fun. It's a bad rule because the less he gets to play the more likely he may not want to play. I think they should drop the rule because who knows... a secret scout may be watching and they might no get to see Demias Jimerson do his magic on the field!!!! LOL :D

    October 4, 2011 at 9:34 am |
  78. courtney

I think its fair because mabey other people might want to make touch downs but i also think its not fair because three touch downs is a very little amount and mabey that how he can express himself by playing football!!!!!!;)

    October 4, 2011 at 9:37 am |
  79. leonard

I think its not fair because the other kids can still get a chance to score if he gives them the ball or if you just ask him nicely to share the ball with the other kids

    October 4, 2011 at 9:38 am |
  80. courtney

i think its fair because mabey other people want to make touch downs but i also think its not fair because three touch downs is a very litttle amount and mabey thats the way he expresses himself by playing football!!!!!!!;)

    October 4, 2011 at 9:41 am |
  81. matt

i think its a bad idea because he is only a 6th grader and if he is that good they should think about moving his position.

    October 4, 2011 at 9:41 am |
  82. Kacy

Well, just because he is so good doesnt mean you have to take away his passion. Maybe some of the kids could get better. If i were him i would feel like its a punishment. It not fair that he is so good!

    October 4, 2011 at 9:44 am |
  83. Ryan

I think that he should be able to score as many as he wants, if he is good then all that will happen is the team will win. He might be okay with it but he should be able to score as many as he can. He should be able to score as much as he can.

    October 4, 2011 at 9:45 am |
  84. Christina & Kathryn

It would give a chance to the other players, but limiting Demias to only few points in the beginning is kind of mean. The rule should be something like that, but the other kids should have a chance and then at, like, halftime he should be able to score once more.

    October 4, 2011 at 9:46 am |
  85. Kaitlyn

That is a unfair rule on him. The boy is only in sixth grade. They should veto the rule or send him up to seventh grade football.

    October 4, 2011 at 9:47 am |
  86. linda

maybe they shouldnt keep him out he should get to do what he wants with the ball its like me being in volleyball and me not being in the game(im not as good as him)

    October 4, 2011 at 9:48 am |
  87. alex

I think that the rule is unfair because i think that it does not matter what age. You should be able to make as many touchdowns as anyone else.

    October 4, 2011 at 9:48 am |
  88. Sandy

Demias has talent, he shouldn't be punished for it!!!!!!!!

    October 4, 2011 at 9:51 am |
  89. Derek

Yeah its good to let other people play, but that shouldn't mean he can't keep scoring. I bet he is really good, they should let him keep scoring. It should be the other teams job to try to stop him. If I was him I would want to keep scoring, with is kind of ability. Demias has talent.

    October 4, 2011 at 9:52 am |
  90. Marshall

I think the people who made the law should take it back and let the boy play.

    October 4, 2011 at 9:53 am |
  91. Noah

He should be able to play all the time. It is not very fair to him. If he is as good as an athlete they should let him play.

    October 4, 2011 at 9:55 am |
  92. mike

I think its wrong .Because I think okay for him to score as many points as possible as can be

    October 4, 2011 at 9:55 am |
  93. Amber

i think demias should be able to play but mabey in a higher group of foot ball cause i don't think since he is so good that he shouldn't be able to play.

    October 4, 2011 at 9:55 am |
  94. Jason

I think that the kid should be able to score as many touchdowns as he wants, but the team should still share the ball. Whoever the team plays should just get better instead of making a mercy rule.

    October 4, 2011 at 9:56 am |
  95. Cynthia

The other kid's should have a chance to play. But the 11 year old should play when the team needs him.

    October 4, 2011 at 9:56 am |
  96. Zoey

I believe the new Mercy Rule is very unfair, especially to Demias. He is not the only one who can make touchdowns, therefore, he should be allowed to play, and make touchdowns.

I don't think it is fair,he is the best, so he should score! I would quit! ITS NOT FAIR AT ALL YOUR GONNA RUIN HIS SCOLARSHIP!!!!!!

    October 4, 2011 at 9:56 am |
  98. Ricky

I think he should be able to make as many touchdowns as he wants, he should still let the other kids try though doesn't mean he can only make three.

    October 4, 2011 at 9:56 am |
  99. Andrew

The rule is completely unfair not only to the student, but to the school too. It is unreasonable to restrict someones natural talent just because they are really good at something. He or she is suppost to show your talent to it's full potential, not surprese it. You don't sign up to football just to be rescricted to being able to make a certain number of touchdown's. The schools has no right to be able to make a rule to rescrict only ONE person out of a entire school. If you make a rule it should apply to everyone not just one person.

    October 4, 2011 at 9:57 am |
  100. Levi

I think that the rule should be affective after at least four touchdowns. I think he should still be able to play but not get the ball.

    October 4, 2011 at 9:58 am |
  101. Valerie

That's totally unfair! If someone is a great athlete let them play to their fullest like Andrew said. If he is really THAT good get him into a more competitive league. It's not fair to him. If he is not playing as good as he can then when he moves on to another grade and gets to play he will have forgotten how to play his best because he was holding back and not playing the best he can ALL of 6th grade.

    October 4, 2011 at 9:58 am |
  102. Kacie

I think that Demias should get to play just as much of the other players. He shouldn't be the only one making the points, but they shouldn't set a limit on how many touchdowns he can make. That's like saying you can't play, your too good for our team.

    October 4, 2011 at 9:59 am |
  103. Jennica

I think just, because he is too good and score a lot of the touch downs it's not fair to him to get taken out, or not to be able to score anymore after 3. The other players need to play too and he should be out ever so often, but he should still at least be able to score as many touch downs as he can and let others too.

    October 4, 2011 at 9:59 am |
  104. casey

I think it's not fair, he works so hard to get good at football,so he should be able to play his part in football.

    October 4, 2011 at 9:59 am |
  105. Cody

This is a good idea because every player on the team should be able to run the ball, but then you shouldn't hold someone back from making a touchdown.

    October 4, 2011 at 9:59 am |
  106. Elizabeth

I think that its not fair to tell him that he can't play because he's more skill than other players

    October 4, 2011 at 10:01 am |
  107. Jenyssa

I think that it is not fair. It is not fair because if he loves playing football then they don't have the right to tell him he can't score. It is a free country and if Demias wants to play and wants to score then he has the right to.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:02 am |
  108. Chase

I think they should move him up into a higher level

    October 4, 2011 at 10:02 am |
  109. Hannah

I think that it is wrong. I think that the bot should be able to make as many touch downs as he wants, because the bot should be active. I believe that the kid should play also because some of us need to run. The government is trying to make fat kids skinner, than let them run and play. So Let The Boy Play!

    October 4, 2011 at 10:03 am |
  110. Rosalie

Carl, if they told you that you couldn't have as much screen time because other reporters aren't getting enough, then what would you do? It is like telling a teacher not to teach. What are they supposed to do? The principal is being way to unfair, and he should just let Demias play. So what? He doesn't want his team to win?

    October 4, 2011 at 10:03 am |
  111. cole

I think it is not fair because if he is that good they should let him do as good as he can. Also the linemen are working hard blocking to get him a hole to run in. So they could put in there 2nd string linemine.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:05 am |
  112. Jens

I don't think it is fair because he loves the sport of football and there should not be a rule that stops him from playing what he loves.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:05 am |
  113. faith

My opinion is that if somebody is good at a sport or something and that is their talent then you shouldn't hold them back. And if he's really good then you should move them up a level to play with kids as good as himself but not hold the kid back it's just not fair.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:07 am |
  114. Chase

they should let him play and tell him to go easy on them

    October 4, 2011 at 10:07 am |
  115. Destiney

Its unfair to Jimerson, because he has an amazing talent. If the principal feels that he is too good to play in his own age group then take it up a knotch and challenge his abilities and let him play with a more difficult group. But dont hold him back from what he does best.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:08 am |
  116. Khennede

I think that it is very unfair, because if you are really good at something then most people will set their mind to it and keep trying really hard. But if you are being told that you can't do something that you love, than that is kind of a bummer that someone is telling you that you cant score anymore touchdowns, even though it may help the team, the coach wants to let other kids have a chance to do it. If you are not getting a chance to do something that you enjoy very much than you should get the opportunity like everyone else did. I guess it could possibly be a compliment, because someone is telling you that you are so good at something they want to not make anymore touchdowns because you are so good.
    -Khennede

    October 4, 2011 at 10:10 am |
  117. arielle

i don't think it is unfair he can't make as many scores as he wonts because he is good at it and they are holding him back from what he is good at.It is also unfair to the team because if the team can't
make a tochdown and he has made his 3 it is unfair he can't make the
    score .

    October 4, 2011 at 10:10 am |
  118. kay

I think that rule is absurd! It's not only holding him back, it's holding the whole team back too. Scoring is a team effort. He is giving up a lot of his free time to play football. If they think he is too good, they should allow him to play on a more advanced team.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:11 am |
  119. lauren

i think as long as everyone is be able to playing time he should be able to get a touch down

    October 4, 2011 at 10:11 am |
  120. Dylan

I think that if Jimerson is really good than he should be moved up a playing level instead of having Jimerson be punished fro something that he loves and that he is using his own free time for when he could be studying for a test or something else for school. Also it isn't all him it could be the other players playing to much defence and letting him score touchdowns. So maybe they could move people from playing the positions they are used to playing to a position they would be new at so that they could all have the same skill level so that it would be fair for everyone even Jimerson.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:14 am |
  121. Moriah

Personally I think it is right and wrong for them to make this mercy law. I think it is right because it gives others a chance to do something and to score. But I also think it is wrong because he can’t really help he is that good.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:14 am |
  122. chas

First they should"t not keep him from doing something he likes doing and second they should let him go up to a higher team so he can play more cause in the older team you get to play more so that would be better for him so it shows its good to play the things you like doing.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:16 am |
  123. Joshua

I think that he shod be able to make as many tochdawns as he
wants. Its not fair if he cant play.

  124. matt

    i like football

    October 4, 2011 at 10:19 am |
  125. Henry

This rule is an unintentional punishment. I say that as long as you don't score every point, there should be no mercy point rule.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:20 am |
  126. Carrie

I think that (being as young as he is) that this is a good rule for the game, and he probably enjoys it too. Being so good they have to make a new rule? I'm sure he loves it! And, as he says himself that he IS okay with it, I think that the rule is fine, but not meant for every team who has a player too good for his league.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:21 am |
  127. robert

i think that the coach was being very fair because it just is not right to not let others join in the game

    October 4, 2011 at 10:23 am |
  128. Perry

I think he should be able to get more touchdowns. I'm sure the other kids would be able to get some. But, if Demias is okay with it, then it's not a problem. But, it does matter about fun, exercise, and teamwork.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:24 am |
  129. robert

i think that its a good rule because he needs to give others a chance

    October 4, 2011 at 10:25 am |
  130. Gary

Why should the player be punished for being good? Why does this have to be a rule? Should it not be the responsibility of his coach to deal with this? Does this really create a "fair" playing environment by limiting the the better players? It is impossible to make a rule that makes the worse players better, so why is it fair to make the better players "worse" by limiting their involvement?

    October 4, 2011 at 10:28 am |
  131. Liam

Is the student playing in a FOOTBALL league, or just on the playground? If just on the playground, why not let kids be kids. If in a league, it should be the coaches responsibility to call plays that may not always focus on this particular player. It shouldn't be a rule, just common sense!! (for coaches)

    October 4, 2011 at 10:29 am |
  132. Cedric

I think it is not fair because I feel like he can make as many touch down's
    as he want's.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:30 am |
  133. Terrence

I don't think the rule is fair. I think he should be allowed to score as many touchdowns as his team let him score. The other team should have more than one person going againt him at one time, to make other people on his team.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:33 am |
  134. Keshauna

I think it is fair. He might make the children sad on the other team, by scoring too many touchdowns.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:39 am |
  135. Thomas

I do not believe it is fair because it doesn't allow the kid to play to his full potential.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:40 am |
  136. shaun

I think its fair because if he scores all of the points then no one else would really be doing anything except just defending him for the other team.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:40 am |
  137. Lilly

I don't think anybody is 'to good to play'. If they are scoring a whole bunch of points then they need some harder people to play with. After all practice makes perfect.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:40 am |
  138. Megan

"Talent is something rare and beautiful and precious, and it must not be allowed to go to waste." I quote from the Newbery Award wining book; The Cricket in Time Square. I think that the people who established that rule were trying to do good by letting the other players score, but they are also hurting the amazing talent of Demias. We were all created differently, not the same. So why should rules make us all the same? If someone is good at what they do, let them do it!

    October 4, 2011 at 10:40 am |
  139. jorge

I think its not fair because he is good at it and they should let him score.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:41 am |
  140. Ryan

I think this rule is okay because other kids need to play too. It is not fair for one person to score all the touchdowns. If they are playing at that young of an age it is good to make sure everyone plays.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:41 am |
  141. Nicholas

I thought the football rule for that little good was a bad because he should be able to so he can get better and then be in the NFL.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:41 am |
  142. Tori

Well I think its unfair. Because if he wants to get touch downs then hes helping the team win. Either they send him to 7th grade football or they keep him from not having him have any fun. But I do understand that its unfair but still he wants to have fun the team wants to have fun. Why wouldn't you let him have fun you know.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:41 am |
  143. matt

I think that the rule should not apply because if hes that good he should be able to show his full potential.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:42 am |
  144. Ellie

I don't think thats far to him. Either they should let him play on a middle school team with players at his level, or let him try to help out the kids on his team become better.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:42 am |
  145. julia

I think every kid should be treated fair

    October 4, 2011 at 10:42 am |
  146. Nazareth

I think that this is an unfair rule. Just because the other team's defense can't stop him doesn't mean they should ban him from running the ball for the rest of the game. I understand getting other people the ball, but you have to let the kid play.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:42 am |
  147. Rhyan

i think it is fair to an extant because the other players should be able to score but limiting his playing time, but he dose say he didnt have a problem with it

    October 4, 2011 at 10:43 am |
  148. zach

I think the fact that they won't let this kid play is wrong. If he is really good let him play..... It may destroy his skill if you don't. And he could have a future. let him.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:43 am |
  149. wesley

what if they are losing by like 14 to 35 they would lose if they don't let him score. That r

    October 4, 2011 at 10:43 am |
  150. Nikki

I personally think that it should not matter how much points they are up by, they should be able to play whichever teammate they want for however long they want.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:44 am |
  151. Preston

If he is making that muck touchdowns then the defense suck. Not fair for him.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:44 am |
  152. Garrett!!!!!!

I think that its a little weird that they would use a rule like that to stop a player from playing the game. He handdled it really well though I would be mad if I couldnt score a tuchdown after only three and I would be even more mad if that rule only aplied to me.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:44 am |
  153. Courtney

I don't think it was a good decision to allow him to not score any more after certain conditions, what should happen instead of not letting Demais score, is keep it the way it was before, because it doesn't matter who scores as a long as they play the game fairly.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:44 am |
  154. riley

i don't think that it is fair to take a kid out of the game because hes to good.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:44 am |
  155. dakota

i think it is grate he is that good and he should be able to do more theres always a star and you should have fun but dont bend the rules thats messed up

    October 4, 2011 at 10:44 am |
  156. luisa

.But maybe it will be fair that other people should try to make a touchdown it will be more fair

    October 4, 2011 at 10:45 am |
  157. Natasha

I think it is fair in a way that other kid wont be able to score or play much but if they don't let him play he wont get better and all his hard work will be for nothing and i do agree that he should focuse on school and stuff first

    October 4, 2011 at 10:45 am |
  158. cheyenne

This is completely unprofessional! If a student has great athleticism then he or she should be allowed to play to their fullest. Making it so a student can not play to his or her full potential is outrageous.I think it is not fair to him it is a sport he loves. Well the rule is unfair and kinda is fair.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:45 am |
  159. Aaron

I think it's a good idea that the other kids get to play but when he makes three touch downs he can't make any more it is like comparing me to him I am also really good at football and so is he also the other people get to have some touch downs but if he is open then he should be able to get the ball.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:45 am |
  160. Anne

I don't know that much about football, but I know about being fair and considerate. I understand that the coach wants some of the other kids to score, however I think that their holding back Demias talents. If he's better than the others, then he should be moved up to a higher football team.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:45 am |
  161. Aubrey

I think that He should be able to do more then Three touchdowns a game,i mean if the outher kids wanted to make touchdowns then they should do it.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:46 am |
  162. Emily

Demias joined the team to play football. He should not have a limit on how many touchdowns he should be able to do, He is part of the team, meaning he should be able to play the game as it is.. no matter how good he is.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:46 am |
  163. Ryan

Its not fair because he should still be able to score just make the other team better.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:46 am |
  164. venommarvel

i think that he should play its he his skills and he should perfect it

    October 4, 2011 at 10:46 am |
  165. sam

I think that this seams like a fair rule, because with 14 points ahead then the get a chance to win if the mercy rule didn't exist then the other team would probably lose

    October 4, 2011 at 10:46 am |
  166. jacob

What if the opposing team is winning by 4 touchdowns and demias is the only hope they need to throw it to him and let him score at least two or more touchdowns. And let the other players score

    October 4, 2011 at 10:47 am |
  167. Brianna

I don't think the mercy rule is fair because he has some talent in him and its not fair for them to make him have a limit to have only 3 touchdown he wont have as much fun as he did when he made more than 3 touchdown.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:47 am |
  168. Oriana

I think that if the kid is too good to play against other 6th graders, he should be put against the bigger kids instead, so that you're not squandering his talent and pride. He has a gift, and there shouldn't be a rule against him using it.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:47 am |
  169. Jared

I don't think there should be a mercy rule, I believe a kid should be able to live up to his full potential. He should be able to play as much as he can without a rule holding him back.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:47 am |
  170. Dallyn

I think it's now fair that everyone has a chance to score a touchdown. It's also nice that he agree's to let other people play.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:47 am |
  171. Carly

I think that it could be good because then the other team gets a cance to score. I think that if they are taking the kid out of the game that is wrong because they should just move him to another position where he can't score like or it is most likely not to score, like center. I do tink that they should let the kid play because he has a future in football so he needs to practice and feel what it is like to play and win. So then he can he can go to the best collage for football and go all the way to NFL.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:48 am |
  172. Austin

I think that this "Mercy Rule" is a bunch of crap. If the kid knows how to play well he should be able to play the way he likes too. I think the principal of the school was making a big mistake when he decided to take this rule into effect. If he wants the game to be fair he should make the other students playing with the kid get better at football. I also think the kid should be angry at the principal for taking this rule into effect. I bet if you ask this kids peers what they think and then decide the rule for the game football ti would be fairer. If the kid is good at at football he should be able to play to his complete ability. Thats what I think personally about this news story.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:48 am |
  173. Brandon

I think no matter how good the kid is, he should still be allowed to play. Also, they should let the kids have a time limit for a game instead of having to stop at three touchdowns.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:48 am |
  174. legna

It is not fair because that is his talent and he should be able to do as many touchdowns as he wants.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:49 am |
  175. Izzy

I think he should still be able to play after he makes three touchdowns. He needs a chance to play some more. It's making him think after the three touchdowns he can go home and play video games. Maybe his talent leads his team to winning the games. Even though the other players might not get a chance to score a touchdown it's just wrong to take the kid out of the game. He would be learning bad habits and it might affect his future. Don't take him out of the game.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:49 am |
  176. aaron

i disagree about the mercy rule because people playing football dont get those rules because its the fun of the game if he is good enough he should get to play. yes thay should let some other people play but the reffs should not make him not be able to score if he made three touchdouns that is almost just luck it is like phorbiting someone to make a touchdown

    October 4, 2011 at 10:49 am |
  177. Robby

Is that really a rule? It's unfair to be aimed at just one student. He should be able to play and score any time he wants.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:51 am |
  178. alicia

I think just because hes good at football does not mean he cant play more three touchdowns.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:51 am |
  179. Aaron

It's a bad idea. They should let him play. Even though other people should have a chance to play, they should at least let him play longer.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:52 am |
  180. Kyle

I think that in school if you are doing a unit in football, then yes mabye there should be a mercy rule when this talented 6th grader plays.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:53 am |

I think the little boy should give his team mate chances because they might wanna score a touchdown or try to make a touchdown

    October 4, 2011 at 10:56 am |

I think that is not fair they should let him play the whole time ...if they pass him the ball he's ganna want to make a touchdown..so they should let him play the whole time that's what he's good at!!

    October 4, 2011 at 10:56 am |
  184. Colin

I think this is not a fair rule because every kid needs to have fun playing and be active but in this case, he is not having his pleasure playing the game so I do not think this is a fair rule.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:56 am |
  185. Aquavia

I think it was good for him to let the other kids to play but he should steel be able to play hes not going to make touch downs all the time

    October 4, 2011 at 10:57 am |
  186. Nautica

I think that is unfair to him.Just because he is good doesn't mean he can't play.If he wins then he wins there are no other rules involving other students. It wouldn't be fair if the other team won because he wasn't playing enough.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:58 am |
  187. Thais

I think that it is not fair because the team will keep losing with out him and they need him for the team to win.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:58 am |

Its good to let other players have a chance to score, but its unfair for Demias. He shouldn't not be able to score because he was already scored a certain amount of touchdowns.I think ts unfair for Demias.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:58 am |
  189. issiah

the mercy rule should not apply just because somebody is to good to play they should be happy about that that means he will win them the game every time plus he could help other kids make touch downs and teach them what he knows then they would all be good

He has a dream, let him continue on his journey. This is a high school class. The entire class of 37 students agree. Let all students do what they can.

  192. Markeesha

I think that the rule is fair because that boy keeps making all the touch downs then maybe the other kids mite feel like that they're no good.I also think that it could be a good rule because if the team likes that they're winning because he making all the touch downs and they're happy that they're winning most of the games but it is nice that the principal wants everybody to get into the game so at lease everybody will get a share in the game.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:59 am |
  193. Adelynne

I think it kinda not fair because he's the player who's making all the touchdowns in the team.I also think its fair because other people on his team need play.

    October 4, 2011 at 10:59 am |
  194. Maggy

I think that the rule is not fair because they are not giving Demias a chance to do something he's good at. If he got in the game to score and have fun the rule does no make sense.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:00 am |
  195. Gabriela

I think that it's not fair and at the same time I think it is fair because the principal shouldn't tell Demius that he can't score touchdowns just because he's good. The reason I think it is fair is because he should let other players make touchdowns too and play.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:00 am |
  196. Daniel

I think the rule is fair because if only he's making all the touchdowns he's not giving the other players a chance to make some touchdowns. It's okay to make some touchdowns though.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:01 am |

I can't believe this. Let this sporty boy playing football. All the best from germany.......

    October 4, 2011 at 11:01 am |
  198. Esther

I agree with the principal because he should let other player play too. Also,at the same time I disagree because he could still play too. It not only about winning it about having fun too.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:01 am |
  199. feliciano

I think it was nice of him to let other players play but he should steal be abeal to play when ever he wants to its hes choice grather not to paly

    October 4, 2011 at 11:03 am |
  200. Derek

I think it is a fair challenge for the team to see if they could win without the star player.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:04 am |
  201. Daniel

I think that the rule is fair because the other team mates can play. But then it is not fair he has to get practice.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:04 am |
  202. kedirc

I think they should put him in every game and that's there only chance to win. They should let him play so he could get even better

    October 4, 2011 at 11:04 am |
  203. nicole..

Well. There Shouldn't Be a rule because hes showing his true talent and the school should be promoting him for his talent! If He Can Play Let Him Play What Happen To The Rule "all students should be treated equally"? Its Not His Fault He Is A goof Player. and If I were On his team I Wouldn't Mind Him scoring so much.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:05 am |
  204. Vonte

I think it is not fair because the people are not getting the ball and they won't play for the team any more.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:05 am |
  205. Fabian

The rule is not fair because they are not letting the boy play and score .

    October 4, 2011 at 11:05 am |
  206. eduardo

I think that it is not right because if he's a good player and he makes all the touchdowns, why take him out of the game.At least he can make two or one touchdown, they have to put him in.Or not they will lose there games. But it's still a good idea other kids should play in the game.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:07 am |
  207. cody

I think it is a dumb rule and he should be able to score more than 3 touchdowns a game

    October 4, 2011 at 11:08 am |
  208. nicole

Hes A Good player Let Him Play! Why not? I Know I Would Be Made If I Couldn't Play Because I'm Good!!!! Think About Some thing You Really like To Do Then Have To Be Limited For Your Talent In That Sport Or Activity

    October 4, 2011 at 11:08 am |
  209. Fidencio

I think that it is not fair for other kids just watch demies score tuchdowns when they just watch.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:09 am |
  210. Arthur

No i don’t think that they should sit him out because it gives him a chance to get better and play in the NFL and it gives other kids a chance to get better.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:11 am |
  211. KaShaun

Taking him out of the game just for a 14 point lead and he already scored 3 touch downs just isnt fair. He could sit out the entire game starting in the first quaurter. He should be able to play each quarter.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:11 am |
  212. Laura

I think Demias should be able to score as many touchdowns as he can, because if someone is born with a skill, they should be able to use it to their full potential.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:12 am |
  213. Brianna

I believe that if a child is a great athlete he/she should be able to compete at his/her level without any restrictions.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:12 am |
  214. Martin

In our country we believe in majority rule while respecting minority rights. Jimerson is the minority in this situation, and the rest of the school is the majority. The question we need to ask is wether or not this rule respects his right as a player to score. In my opinion, it does not respect his rights, and therefore should not be a rule imposed by the school. If he personally wants to make a pact with his coach or opponents, that is his business, but for the school to be involved in such trivial matters, and to be setting up such an ultimatum, is wrong.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:12 am |
  215. Morgan

Maybe his touchdowns could be worth 3 points instead of full points. This would be like a golf handicap.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:15 am |
  216. Peyton

This kid should be allowed to play no matter what. We shouldn't punish him for being more talented than his teammates.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:17 am |
  217. Bryan

He should be allowed to play. It sounds to me like this is a punishment.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:17 am |
  218. Alex

There is no reason to punish him. He has a right to play the whole game.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:18 am |
  219. Omar

I think it not fair that he did wont Demias to make more points

    October 4, 2011 at 11:19 am |
  220. Brian

So much talent should not be wasted. I'm worried that this will make him not want to play.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:19 am |
  221. Annie

He is only in the sixth grade, so winning should not matter right now. It is all about just playing the game and improving skills. The "mercy rule" makes perfect sense, and will give other teams an opportunity to improve their skills.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:19 am |
  222. bobbie

There are mercy rules for every sport, however, we don't agree that it is fair for just the ONE player. He's in 6th grade and this rule only inhibits the chances for him to grow and excel. Good for him on having such a positive attitude towards the rule! Kudos for him!

    October 4, 2011 at 11:24 am |
  223. Breonna

I think Demias should be abe to score the any amount of touchdowns. Its unfair that he can not score many just because his talents are better than the other kids.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:26 am |
  224. Clayton

I think he should play just maybe in a better league for the state junior team or something like that. You should not make a kid stop playing football because hes to good, that just doesn't sound right.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:34 am |
  225. travis

I think the coach was not only being smart, but fair, too. the 11 year old can't always hog the ball and he needs to learn to let the others shoot some hoops as well.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:37 am |
  226. casiana

I think that the little boy should score as many goals as he wants.
This is just a game, I mean its not like he's not play for the NFL.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:38 am |
  227. D.J.

I believe having a player that's on a higher level is not a bad thing it just means everyone else needs practice because you can't give one player the bench for being great. That is completely unfair.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:38 am |
  228. Nicole

I think It's ok to have that rule but I think that It's not fair for Demias does not get to show all of his talent.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:42 am |
  229. Clara

I think it is fair so everyone gets to play and the other team has a chance.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:44 am |
  230. Rachel

I think that the rule is kinda smart but unfair and should be changed to at least 6 touchdowns. So he can at least have fun and interact with his team mates,

    October 4, 2011 at 11:44 am |
  231. Nicole

I think it is fair but not fair at the same time. I think other players should have a chance but now Demias does not have a chance to really play football. I think he should have a chance.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:46 am |
  232. Abbey

I think that he should get to score more than three touch downs because three is not that many and it is not fair.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:48 am |
  233. Moses and Mike

It doesn't matter whether or not he scored 14 goals; he should still be able to play. That would definently be the smart thing to.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:53 am |
  234. Brandon

I think it's a great idea because when I played football at our school the same person kept getting touchdowns. I think it would be fair because everyone would get a chance to score.

    October 4, 2011 at 11:55 am |
  235. Thomas

If he scored 6 touchdowns, he should still be able to play. After all, if he was on a role, why stop it?

    October 4, 2011 at 11:56 am |
  236. Sergio

He shouldnt stop doing good but he should let others do something and have fun..so that later on they wont be complaining.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:26 am |
  237. runard

I DNT THINK THAT ITS FAIR FOR THE YOUNG MAN TO NOT SCORE AS MANY TOUCHDAOWNS AS HE WANTS !!!!!!!!!! I PLAY FOOTBALL AND I WOULD NOT LIKE IT IF I WAS LIMITED TO HOW MANY TOUCHDOWNS I COULD SCORE A GAME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    October 5, 2011 at 10:26 am |
  238. Daniel

the 11 year old should still be able to play bt dnt give him the ball alot if it is a converse dispute.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:26 am |
  239. Jacob

This shouldn't be a rule it's just dumb that they said he can't play because he's better than everyone else he can't help it.I think it should be the coaches decision. After all he is just a sixth grader whoever came up with is an idiot .

    October 5, 2011 at 10:27 am |
  240. Alyssa

its not his fault he's good! they should move him up so he doesn't lose his talent. then it is fair both ways

    October 5, 2011 at 10:27 am |
  241. gauge

I think that he should be able to score still its football if he's good then he's good

    October 5, 2011 at 10:27 am |
  242. Bailey

I feel that no kid should have to sit out of a game because of their skill in a sport. Every kid should have a chance to play but not for a majority of the game.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:28 am |
  243. Arlo

I don't think this is a good idea because Demias has a special talent And if he can score that many touchdowns in a game than I think that he should sent to the 7th grade level! It is like having a proffesional football player being benched for being to good! And its also like Carl Azuz having to much screen time or talking to much!

    October 5, 2011 at 10:29 am |
  244. Albert

I think it's fair becuase the coaches need to let everybody get a chance to play and score. If he is that good, he should know not to be a ball hogger. Plus their is no I in Team. I want to see this boy come play [here] seeif he can score touchdown on me.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:29 am |
  245. Taylin

I think that he should get to play, but I also think that he shouldn't because he should let the other kids try and score a touchdown. So I think it is and it isn't fair that he cant play.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:30 am |
  246. Jasmine

I don't think it's fair because, I honestly think that if he is that good in football because of his skills they should'nt take him out because of his abilities.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:30 am |
  247. Cristy

just let the kid play! move him up to the nfl of somethin

    October 5, 2011 at 10:30 am |
  248. Michelle

My opinion is to let him play the sport. If your good you shouldn't have to have less game time he probably just practiced more than the others. Them sitting him out is not right.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:30 am |
  249. dane

I think that he should be able to play the whole game. Also if they are so worried about him scoring to much they should move him up, not make him come out. I also don't see how they think that it is fair because he is just using his talents to help his team win. I don't think the kid should be taken out for scoring to many touchdowns because he is 11 years old!

    October 5, 2011 at 10:30 am |
  250. kaitlynn

I think the rule is unfair because it is kinda not allowing him to be part of the team.On the other hand it is fair so others can have a chance to get a score but it does not mean he can"t score for his team.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:31 am |
  251. Angel

i think that he need to give chance to play to others player because they need to practice too and then maybe they work together

    October 5, 2011 at 10:31 am |
  252. Dorien

I think they should let him do what he has to do tell help the team, but the coaches should always rotate the players everky now and then. If he keeps scoring, it should give the team motivation and confidence to continue the game playing hard.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:31 am |
  253. Dylan

I think that this rule is dumb because on our football team our fullback and our halfback have more touchdowns then anyone else on the team. Like our last game we won 40-0 and our halfback and fullback didn't get benched for the rest of the game. So this rule makes no sense to me.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:31 am |
  254. Tyson

I may not be a foot ball player, but the coaches should not be able to take him out for scoring more then the others. so he should be able to play if he is that good.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:32 am |
  255. Selena

When your limited at something your good at; especially being that young in a situation like this teaches you a wrong lesson. Your supposed to be pushed to being better and progressing in your sport of choice not being taught that if your good at something you should stop and give everyone else a chance to excel. In the real world this doesnt happen theres compition everywhere; its not fair to Demias. What if he practiced hard to be this good? Maybe his teamates should practice more.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:32 am |
  256. nick

I THINK THAT HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO PLAY. ITS NOT HIS FAULT HES BETTER THAN EVERY ONE ELSE .HIS COACH SHOULD NOT GIVE HIM THE BALL SO MUCH OR HAVE HIM PLAY FOR SEVENTH GRADE LET THE CHILD PLAY !

    October 5, 2011 at 10:33 am |
  257. Spencer

I think it is stupid to put that rule on him because one this is little league and two he is 11. I think he should be able to play how he wants. If the other teams are complaining then they should suck it up and just play. If he wants to run touchdowns then let him. But don't step on his rights.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:33 am |
  258. Aaron

This is completely over looked. He works hard for his athletic ability and should not be benched for it. Either move him up or let his team train more. The fact of the matter is you can't stop a great player but you shouldnt bench him. i feel that they are lowering his confidence and supressing his athletic ability to a certain point.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:33 am |
  259. Justin

Its not Jimmerson fault he is really good. the only thing that can tackle him is the rule they should let him play, when he scores the 3rd touchdown for his team and there winning by 14 they should still let him play just not run the ball it is totally unfair.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:33 am |
  260. Kolbe

I think that he should get to play no matter how many times he scores. If he was doing that good why stop him. I think he needs to play to fully develop his talents, he's only 11 its not like it is the Super Bowl its just Little League. If people had a problem with it then they shouldn't coach football or the parents shouldn't be so bad. That is what I think about the boy being banned.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:34 am |
  261. JAZZY

I think that it is not fair to ban him from his talent. That would be like not letting a kid sing, dance, band, math, science, artwork, fish, hunt, social studies, etc. just because they're good at it. its not fair that just cause he is good at something he can't do it. I bet that if some of the other players practice and practice to be as good as him that they would also be able to make that much touchdowns as he does. He believes in football it is what he is good at so don't take it away from him!!!

    October 5, 2011 at 10:34 am |
  262. Maria

I think that the coach is being unfair with the boy, because he should be able to make how many touchdowns he wants an still be able to play after making 3 touchdowns.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:34 am |
  263. Alisa

He should be able to play. If he just sits on the bench then next year he wont be as good as he is this year. Just because he scored 7 touch downs dose not mean he shouldn't play, he has talent and they should let him show it off and lead the team to victory. He is a 11 year old miracle.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:35 am |
  264. Samantha

That mercy rule is good and bad. It is bad because the wants to play. If he is good then let hime play. Don't you want to win the game? It is also a good rule. People should enforce this rule into high school football. Some games they let people score over 63 points. After the game is over the other team feels like a sore loser. They should enforce that rule everywhere.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:35 am |
  265. Alex

I think it is fair because the other players need to be able to get better at Football and they're not going to be able to do that if he is basically the only one getting the ball. I also kinda don't think it's fair because he needs to keep it up. (:

    October 5, 2011 at 10:35 am |
  266. Erick

I think its not fair to take out the star player, because he is the one that works hard to be good and if he wants to be a Famous Football player, yall should be the one helping him continue his journey.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:38 am |
  267. Otis

I think that he should still be able to play. It'snot his fault that the others aren't as good as him, it just means that they need practice. You cant punish someone for being good at what they do.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:40 am |
  268. Ryan

I think the should let him score how many touchdown he want

    October 5, 2011 at 10:40 am |
  269. Alex

I think he should be able to play. If he is to good for the team, why not move him to a higher level of football?

    October 5, 2011 at 10:41 am |
  270. cordariya

I think that it's going to far because you cant stop somebody from playing a game just the cause of he good and work hard to make his touchdowns. Also i think the others should just try their best and work harder to score. it's like say if someone running a race and the same person runs 1st place to tell them to come in 2nd or 3rd to give others a chance to catch up because its fair.its about what you put out.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:45 am |
  271. guadalupe

I dont think is fair that they wont let him play anymore!!!its not his fault his too good,if he stops playinq he wont not be able to show his talent.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:46 am |
  272. Cassie

i think that he should play because he acceeds and should NOT be put on the bench because of his abilites because he signed up like everyone else and so they should push themselves to be as good as this kid so they can all get some quality playing time. :)

    October 5, 2011 at 10:49 am |
  273. Garrett

I think that he should be able to to play because you sholdn't be limited by other abilities only your own. Plus the coach should try to get other players the ball. Also it gives the other team a challenge and they will push them selfs harder.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:50 am |
  274. NICOLE

JUST BECAUSE HE IS TO GOOD DOESNT MEAN THAT HE SHOULD BE BANNED FROM FOOTBALL BECAUSE HE HAS RIGHTS TO PLAY THE GAME THERE ISN'T NO SUCH THING AS TO MANY TOUCH DOWNS

    October 5, 2011 at 10:51 am |
  275. luis

I think its not fair for the coaches to take a player out of the game just because he is so good. I mean they are supose to want good players not denie them the right to play a sport.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:52 am |
  276. Piper

He should not be band from football because of his athletic abilities
and thers nothing wrong wilh making too many touchdowns

    October 5, 2011 at 10:53 am |
  277. Colette

THAT IS NOT RITE. HE SHULD BE ABALL TO PLY. I THINK EVERY ONE HOW GOT IN SHOLD PLY. IT IS NOT SOMETHING TO PUT HIM OUT.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:54 am |
  278. Marcus

I think they should just leve him alone his just the mvp of the team..Dont they have mvp in regular sports.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:54 am |
  279. Gaby

I don't think this rule is really fair because it only counts against Demias! He is being benched just for being good?! I'm not fond of sports, such as football, but it just seems plain wrong! They should just let the kid play!

    October 5, 2011 at 11:03 am |
  280. Jett

i think he should go to a better league instead so it works out great and everybody gets to play

    October 5, 2011 at 11:06 am |
  281. Xavia

They should let him play because he is helping his team but he should let the other kids give a touchdown

    October 5, 2011 at 11:06 am |
  282. Brendan

I think that the Mercy Rule should not be allowed for elementary students. That is a time period in kids lives where they should be allowed to do all that they can do so they can practice their physical abilities. Taking it that serious so young for just fun playing is not necesary in my eyes. He is a very gifted young man and he shouldn't have restrictions put on him because of it.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:10 am |
  283. Dylan

I think this is a good idea so this kid cant score 12 touchdowns a game. It gives other kids chances to play and for the game to be competitve instead of it being a blow out.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:13 am |
  284. Preston

How is it suppose to keep this kid interested in the sport he is so good at. I think if you hold him out for scoring touchdowns in lowers his intrest and he wont wanna try anymore. There shouldnt be a limit on how many touchdowns he scores because of the talent God gave him.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:13 am |
  285. Sam

I don't think that this is fair because he will lose interest if he cant score as much as he can. He is just getting better and gaining confidnce every time he scores. If he is going to get held back from scoring, he should go to a better league with more competition and become a better athlete. It should be the coaches decision when he should and shouldn't play him. I think it is a dumb rule.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:14 am |
  286. Jeff

I don't believe that is fair to Demias at all. Taking him off the field and letting kids with less ability will improve the teams chances of losing which will make everyone upset, instead of just the kids who aren't playing. Taking away his chance to show his athletic abilitly is a brutal and uncalled for punishment. Instead of not letting him score they should just give other kids chances until they prove they can't.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:14 am |
  287. Alex

I think that that if he is that good he needs better people to play with, they should out him in 7th grade football. it's not his fault that the people that he is playing aren't that good they should see this as an opportunity to make the team better not set them back!

    October 5, 2011 at 11:15 am |
  288. George

Why would you punish a kid if he is good at sports? It's stupid. I think the coach should take him out eventually if their up by a lot but there shouldn't be a set time to take him out.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:15 am |
  289. Brody

I think this rule is unfair because it isn't the kids fault that he is really good and nobody can stop him. He shouldn't have to quit the game after his team is up and he has already scored 3 touchdowns. I also think this is a really dumb rule for the kid and it barely lets him play football.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:15 am |
  290. Jason

The rule, in my opinion, is not a good thing. They shouldn't limit him just because he's that good. If they are way ahead he shouldn't be playing still. It should be the coaches job to take him out of the game and not the rule. Also there won't be rules against it when he gets in high school so why make one now?

    October 5, 2011 at 11:16 am |
  291. Jeremy

I think it is stupid that they are limiting this kids talents its not his fault that the other teams can not stop him.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:17 am |
  292. Lily

I think that this should not be a rule.. I mean he's only "hogging" the touchdowns because he gets the chance and he's talented. If anyone else wants to score then they need to work just a little bit harder.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:18 am |
  293. Galen

I feel that the coach should be the one to make the plays about some other players instead of focusing on Demias. because its not all about winning its about having fun

    October 5, 2011 at 11:18 am |
  294. Cole

I think that Demias should be able to play. His coach needs to call plays that don't always go to him. His teammates' need to get into the spotlight too. I blame it all on the coach of his team.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:18 am |
  295. logan

I think that it is not fair that Jimerson should not be allowed to play after scoring 3 touchdowns. This is because in the future he might not want to play because he will lose interest if there is a rule that limits his playing time. The coach should be the one to take him out of the game when they are up.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:19 am |
  296. Reed

I think hr should be limited but not stopped from playing. Ask the team if he should be stopped

    October 5, 2011 at 11:19 am |
  297. amber

I think it is not right for him that he cannot play because he gets the touch downs and the other kids cannot. The thing is that the other kids can choose to make a touch down or not. They can decide to make a touch down. I think that if a kid that good wants to make a touchdown let him. It depends on the postion and the plays they play. They want to win the games they should let someone good do the running and the touchdowns.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:20 am |
  298. Nathan

Why keep his talent tamed? I understand that other kids need the chance to score but he is young, he should get all the practice that he can get so when he gets to JH and High School he'll succeed and get scholarships. If they so badly want others to score then work a system out so Demias doesn't have to feel punished. This is not a constitutional way, in saying so are they going against it?

    October 5, 2011 at 11:20 am |
  299. Meghan

I believe that this rule is heinous. Like honestly its discrimination against talent.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:20 am |
  300. Lamaj

I think it is unfair to him because he can't play as much as he should be in the game. He could lose interest in the sport because he doesn't play a lot and that would be a waste of a great football player. If they limit his full abilities then he won't be as good when he gets older and will not play to his highest potential.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:21 am |
  301. Nicole

If he's that good, simply move him into a higher level. It's not fair to have someone sit out or to have a mercy rule just because they are more advanced in the game.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:21 am |
  302. Holly

I personally think that the little kid should be able to score as many touchdowns as he pleases. The kids playing football with him do not have to let him score all the touchdowns. They just don't need to let him have a limit on how many touchdowns he's allowed to score. It's just not fair to the little kid. If that's the case he needs to go to a different school where this rule doesn't come into play. Then he can score as many touchdowns as he wants.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:21 am |
  303. Abby

I don't even understand why this is an issue, how do you think the 6th grader would feel? If he is that good, people should be applauding you, not punishing you. If he is doing so well and people are putting him down and wanting him to stop playing, he's sooner or later going to feel like he can't always play to his potential. I think if people have such a problem with a child being good, they should leave and not watch, not put him down and be bad sports.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:21 am |
  304. Harold

I think that if you work towards a goal hard enough and you acquire skill, you should be able to show your skill.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:21 am |
  305. Jordan

I think they should take the kid out if they are up by 28 or more. It's not fair if the kid can only score 2 touchdown then he can't play the rest of the game. It's not his failt that he is better than everyone else so just let the kid play.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:21 am |
  306. Donny

I think that an athlete should always play to the best of their ability. I don't think that any consideration should be taken for the other players because if there was then there would be no one to challenge them, therefore the other players will not try to get better. In short, challenges will always make you better.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:24 am |
  307. Amber

Carl if you played football wouldnt you like not to have a real holding you back from your talent

    October 5, 2011 at 11:24 am |
  308. Tyler

Thats not cool!! If hes so good that they have to limit his full potential then maybe... just maybe he should consider moving somewere were the coaches appreciate his abilities. There is no such thing as too much talent, if they think that its okay for him to have to hold back then they dont deserve the privelege of having him play for their team. He can easily go on to bigger and better things, and im telling you now that were he is in his career with them wont let him rise up to his full potential.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:26 am |
  309. alexa

no,i think that its just a game nobodys feelings will get hurt.theres always next year to play.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:28 am |
  310. Brice

So what if he scores a ton of touchdowns, its a game and if he wants to play he should be alowed to play as much as he wants.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:30 am |
  311. Ashtyn

I have felt that way on a sports team before but I think that a coach should moniter that. Some coacheshave a favorite player that he wants to be in the spotlight and help the team win. In the football case, I think the coach could have switched around who played where instead of just sitting a player out.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:30 am |
  312. Daniela

I think that is totally messed up. He should play no matter what.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:06 pm |
  313. starr

I think that it is fair but not to were he cant score anymore. because if they started losing then what will they do.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:07 pm |
  314. Luis

I believe that the mercy rule is not neccessary. The other coaches of the other teams need to maybe practice more and make their defense a lt better soo they can stop that young beast! LET HIM SCORE!!!!!

    October 5, 2011 at 12:07 pm |
  315. Natalie

I think that rule is unfair.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:07 pm |
  316. Eddie

I think thats not fair to only get three touchdowns a game if his team mates cant make a touch down thay might not win.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:08 pm |
  317. Thomas

I think he should play because he is a good player and let him show is great talent and get rid of the murcy rule thats stupid.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:08 pm |
  318. Marquis

I dont think its fair to Demias because the other team(s) suck compared to him, the other coaches should be coaches and coach

    October 5, 2011 at 12:08 pm |
  319. Karina

I Think that the rule is pretty fair, because other players need the chance to play and score touchdowns. To be equal is always fair.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:08 pm |
  320. Casey

I think they should let him do what part he's good at, and let him do it after all he did practice alot to to get there.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:09 pm |
  321. Antonio

I think the no mercy rule is not fair. If he is good then let him score because thats what the sport is about. They should take the rule away or put him in a higher football league.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:09 pm |
  322. Trey

I think they should let him play if he's good then let him play.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:09 pm |
  323. johnny

i think that it unfair for demias not to score as many touchdown as he can because i mean it just a sport it not the other kids fault that he good.....but he should'nt have nothing to worry because he will get to score as many touchdowns when he to middle school and especially high school

    October 5, 2011 at 12:10 pm |
  324. kameron

If he's real good don't bench him. Let him play the whole game, it just means more wins for your team

    October 5, 2011 at 12:10 pm |
  325. Victoria

It doesn't matter if he;s good or not, he should still be able to play wether or not he's had 7 or even 8 touchdowns, it just shows that he's a great player for his age. LET HIM PLAY!

    October 5, 2011 at 12:10 pm |
  326. DeSeantavius

I think the coach was not only being smart, but fair, too. the 11 year old can always hog the ball If He Want To Because If His Teamates Cant do there job let him get in and win the game.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:10 pm |
  327. Ana

I think its not fair. If that person is good and the team losing you not going to put people that dont play good right?
But then its alright because other people need to score too.
    Practice makes Perfect!

    October 5, 2011 at 12:11 pm |
  328. giles

I think Its wrong for them to limit his touchdowns because of his skills. Also if he's that good they should put him on a higher team. its also unfair becuase if their losing by more than a 3 point lead he can't make a come bakck for his team.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:11 pm |
  329. daniel

tha kidd jus loves football, let him play foootball!!

    October 5, 2011 at 12:11 pm |
  330. jordan

It is not fair cause he is good and the others are not.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:12 pm |
  331. Cynthia

i think that its not fair becauase he is so good and the other teams aren't as good

    October 5, 2011 at 12:12 pm |
  332. skyler

i think that they should put him in seventh grade football so he can have a fun football game

    October 5, 2011 at 12:12 pm |

I believe that it dosent matter if he is to good to play he should try to do his best

    October 5, 2011 at 12:12 pm |

I think it is not fair because i think they should not count and not let him play football.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:12 pm |
  335. Cindy and Todd

No he shouldn't be limited on how much he plays, if he is that good at a sport they should let him keep playing or move him up to a higher age group.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:13 pm |
  336. Alyssia

He should at least score more points then three, because he is good at football so let him show off his game.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:14 pm |
  337. zeke

i think he should play beacause and keep on playing cause he has talent and when people have talent thats a reason for them to play

    October 5, 2011 at 12:14 pm |
  338. Brooklynn

I think the rule is not fair because if he is to good to play send him up to a higher level of football. We know everyone should have to get the chance to play, but if he is to good to play than thats a complement but if you want everyone to play send him to a higher level of football.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:14 pm |
  339. francisco

i think it isn't fair because they could lose if the other taem has the lead
    they will unfortionitly lose

    October 5, 2011 at 12:15 pm |
  340. Laymon

I think that rule is uncalled for if he cant score anymore they should move him up a grade so he can have some competition.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:15 pm |
  341. chandler

why not let him play he's fast he's skillfull and he can hold on to a ball it's not fair cause he's good there not letting him play

    October 5, 2011 at 12:15 pm |
  342. Sergio

In my belive, i think the young kid should be able to play. It's not his fault the other team is not as good as him and also, its not his fault his so good. Its called practise coaches. Its like taking a tigers hunting ability.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:16 pm |
  343. Madie

I think they should let Demias play or they should put him in 7th grade football.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:17 pm |
  344. Lisa

I see this mercy rule as unfair for Demlas Jimerson. What's the point of football if you don't score enough points for your team to win? And having the poor kid sit out on the bench by himself if he scores three touchdowns in a row. It's like exiling him.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:17 pm |
  345. kevin

just becoase the kid is too good at football dosent mean he cant play if they dont let him play they should let him play in a hire grade of foot ball

    October 5, 2011 at 12:18 pm |
  346. Jasmine

I think this is unfair for the kid. Just because he is a good player and scores touchdowns doesnt mean they have to not let him score now. He should be able to score as many touchdowns he wants, because its just a game and hes having fun with it.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:19 pm |
  347. Isaiah

the mercy rule should not apply just because somebody is to good to play they should be happy about that that means he will win them the game every time

    October 5, 2011 at 12:21 pm |
  348. Brittany

I think it's unfair that they haven't had a chance to play!!!!!!!!!!
    YOUR AWSOME CARL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    October 5, 2011 at 12:22 pm |
  349. bob

I think that is not fare because the same thing has happend to me on my pop wanner team because i was scoring a hole bunch.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:22 pm |
  350. Cruz

They don't do that in the NFL when a player already scored more than 3 touchdowns so they shouldn't do it to Demias Jimerson if they want them to try their best how is going to try his best when he has a limited touchdowns.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:25 pm |
  351. Omar

I think they should make him play football with the higher grades.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:26 pm |
  352. jayson

i think its unfair because he shouldnt get pinished for the defence not being able to tackle him. i think he deserves all the publicity:)

    October 5, 2011 at 12:30 pm |
  353. ryan

If he is scoring that many touchdowns than either he is to good or the defence sucks.........

    October 5, 2011 at 12:37 pm |
  354. Tavin

I think he should be able to play!It would be like telling Mohammad Ali to stop fighting if the other guy is hurt.Or like telling Adam from Man vs. Food not to eat when hes halfway done.Even like telling Micheal Phillips if he is a second ahed he can"t swim.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:38 pm |
  355. dan

i think that they should let him play because it's not his fault he is good. They should move him to a higher level if he can only score 3 touchdowns.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:40 pm |
  356. james

i think its unfair because he should to score as much touch down as he wants. its also poor tackleing from the another teams so the another team need to step their game up. and for demias jimerson keep doing what you do best

    October 5, 2011 at 12:41 pm |
  357. Wilson

I think he should be able to play. They should put him on the worst team and everyone is jealous because he is better than every kid by alot. He said he isn't mad about the rule but on the inside he is probably really mad. The principal who made the rule. His son probably got trucked on the field, and the man is jealous because his son is not good at anything.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:41 pm |
  358. bianca

I think it is fair becuse they need a chance to score.also I think it is unfair beacuse you should not kick someone out of a sport that they love .You should only kick someone out if they break a rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    October 5, 2011 at 12:47 pm |
  359. Jocelyn

i think its not really fair that he is limited with touch-downs. You really shouldnt judge people on their abilities, if they are good at something and others arnt. If he really is the only one getting all the scores, he should maybe back off and give the other kids a chance to score.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:49 pm |
  360. Hunter

I don't think that's right. We have people in our school that score most of our points and we're not stopping them from scoring.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:50 pm |
  361. Brooke

I think this is a fair rule but at the same time I think it is unfair. I think it is fair because all the other kids on the team want a chance to play but Jimerson is taking a lot of playing time from the other kids. I think it is unfair because if he does get taken out because of that rule the other team might get ahead by 10 or some number like that and the coach will want to put him back in to score some points for their team but he can't.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:50 pm |
  362. laura

it isn't fair that they don't let him score a lot of points and when i was in 5th grade we played kickball like every day and me and this kid Dante were realy good we were the best at the game and we always got picked 1st and stuff and there was never a rule that we couldn't play and i think that the kid should be abil to make as many touch downs as he can he was born with that skill and he should use it and no one shouold stop him. He will probabily be a professional one day!

    October 5, 2011 at 12:56 pm |
  363. Bailey

Football is football. Let it be like that 4ever. Players are good because they practice.

    October 5, 2011 at 12:58 pm |
  364. shawn

I think that is just horrible that they will not that that kid play who cares if hes good my football team wouldn't keep the kid out of the team that is scoring all the touchdowns

    October 5, 2011 at 1:06 pm |
  365. Monica

I think that since he is always scoring points and is the best on the team he should be moved up to a higher level team and continue getting better, they shouldn't penalize him for being a good player.

    October 5, 2011 at 1:06 pm |
  366. Samantha

He should play because he is good

    October 5, 2011 at 1:06 pm |
  367. cody

i think this is unfair to him. just because he is better then some of the other kids shouldnt mean he cant play the other kids just need to practice

    October 5, 2011 at 1:07 pm |
  368. Tyler

I dont think he should be restricted from scoring he is a football player! You dont see people in the NFL being restricted.

    October 5, 2011 at 1:07 pm |
  369. kyle

No i dont agree with limiting him to scores because just because hes good doesnt mean he should practice to get better

    October 5, 2011 at 1:08 pm |
  370. Chris

I think that there should be no limit but the coach should make it so other kids can score.

    October 5, 2011 at 1:08 pm |
  371. Nate

I think he should be put into a higher grade level of football.
The coaches of these teams always say it's all about having fun, but then the get mad if you don't do good enough or you don't do something right.

    October 5, 2011 at 1:08 pm |
  372. Shawn

The mercy rule brought about for just this player is wrong, just because he is a good player doesn't mean he should be punished. The coach of the team should give other players the opportunity to fill in, in that position and have the same chances to score. Rotating players in so they all have that chance is the best way to coach a team and lets the others know that team doesn't revolve around just that one player.

    October 5, 2011 at 1:12 pm |
  373. Monique:)

I believe that they shouldn’t be able to take him out of the game. That is completely unfair to him, just because he is good at football doesn’t mean he should be taken out. If it were any other sport I’m pretty sure there wouldn’t be any deal about it. If it was basketball and he was making all the baskets I’m sure they wouldn’t make him sit out. It’s completely unfair and wrong. Just because he practices and is good at what he does doesn’t mean that he should suffer. I think the principal should do rethinking on what he’s doing.

    October 5, 2011 at 1:22 pm |
  374. Autumn

You do need teamwork, but he shouldn't be rejected from playing just because he's helped out his team. It just means that he should probably be more of a team member, and less of an individual.

    October 5, 2011 at 1:38 pm |
  375. Tom

I believe it is limiting of his talent but allows those without talent to get some experience in playing. Perhaps put him as a blocker or along those lines.

    October 5, 2011 at 1:42 pm |
  376. Cody

I think that it is unfair that he does not get to score as much..
If hes good at a sprt let him play. The team should be happy that they are winning al there games!

    October 5, 2011 at 1:50 pm |
  377. Deareon

well, its unfair because if the kid was so good for the rest of the leaugue they should move him up so that there is some to stop him.

    October 5, 2011 at 1:55 pm |
  378. Jose

I think that he should be able to play.

    October 5, 2011 at 2:04 pm |

i think it not fair the coach should give a challnge . or he can play with seventh graders football

    October 5, 2011 at 2:11 pm |
  380. Matthew & Richard

It is not fair to the kid because he cant show his talent to the people but if I was the coach or princple I would tell the kid to have fun but let some peolpe try to score a touchdown.

    October 5, 2011 at 2:16 pm |
  381. Nicholas

I think you should let him play agenst harder kids.

    October 5, 2011 at 2:33 pm |
  382. patrick

I think you should let him play.first of all you should make him play agenst harder players.

    October 5, 2011 at 2:35 pm |
  383. Nicholas

you should let him play.Becouse this rule is bougoase. You should make him play agenst bigger and harder kids that play.

    October 5, 2011 at 2:41 pm |
  384. Callia

you should let him play football.

    October 5, 2011 at 3:02 pm |
  385. Markk

I think it is wrong because he won't be able to have fun at the team. Then he won't be able to be that good like he is so that is why I you shouldn't do what you want him to do.

    October 5, 2011 at 3:11 pm |
  386. Kaitlyn

I think that it is unfair that they made up he mercy rule. If someone is that good they should boot up a team or two, even if he did okay to it.

    October 5, 2011 at 3:38 pm |
  387. Meghan

I don't think the rule is fair because this poor kid just wants to play football and can't because some silly rule is stopping him. If he is that good he should moved to a higher level of football so he fits in more. Also it should be the coaches responsibility to maybe bench him for a little bit to give him a break and to have other people go out and try to score and what not.

I think that's kind of unfair because that's the team's "secret weapon." He should at least get to score more than three touchdowns. That's like taking candy for a baby.

    October 5, 2011 at 3:50 pm |
  389. Aaron

He should be able to play even if he is good just let him play. When you do take him out it takes away his fun time with other kids.

    October 5, 2011 at 3:53 pm |
  390. Abigail

I don't think he needs to have to sit on the bench, just have him talk with the other players and make a game plan so everyone can particapate.

    October 5, 2011 at 3:58 pm |
  391. vincent

i think that is not fair to demias if he has the skill to make touchdowns for the team he shouldn't be held back due to the rules of the school.

    October 5, 2011 at 4:06 pm |
  392. Brenna

Cheating Is not good if a student needs help i believe they should ask a teacher and not cheat that just means half answers could be wrong and actions have concequences.

    October 5, 2011 at 4:15 pm |
  393. Denise

It is good for all the kids to get a chance to get involved and make touch-downs.Everyone should get a chance to shine and be a star! i understand why some people would disagree but is it better to win, or have fun?

    October 5, 2011 at 4:15 pm |
  394. Desirea

I think that kids should have a mercy rule because it will help other kids to try there best and feel good about them selves that they just sored a touch down. It will help them learn the game as well.

    October 5, 2011 at 4:27 pm |
  395. deja

i don't think that this is fair for him. Too good to play is not a good reason. I think that that is odd. they need to think about it and be serious.

    October 5, 2011 at 4:31 pm |
  396. Tina

I think its not fair that he has to sit out, he should be showing his talents. He is just good at football, and he just wants to do what he loves. Doesn't the coach want to win?

    October 5, 2011 at 4:33 pm |
  397. kalyn

I think that eather he should move up or the coach should train the others beater.

    October 5, 2011 at 4:45 pm |
  398. jack

yes if he is to good he should give the other kids a chance

    October 5, 2011 at 4:48 pm |
  399. Bernice

I think that he should be able to play because its not his fault hes so good. I mean he could play without scoring. Everyone should be treeted the same.

    October 5, 2011 at 5:09 pm |
  400. Elaina

WHAT! This kid should NOT be limited! I understand the school's side,
but what I don't get is that they thought that they could do this! Everyone should play! Do you see the NY Yankees taking thair best player out against the Twins! Because your good at something, dosn't make it right for the team, school, or parents, to pull that kid out. I really think that this school should make some changes. Plus, if your seeing this due, ROCK ON!

    October 5, 2011 at 5:15 pm |
  401. Grace

If he can't score more than three touchdowns, he won't be doing what he loves most, football. Practice makes perfect!

    October 5, 2011 at 5:19 pm |
  402. Ashlee

I don't think it is fair, because any kid should have the right to play freely and i think they should take that rule away because he is a really good player and it it not his fault.

    October 5, 2011 at 5:20 pm |
  403. Elizabeth

I think its unfair because he should make as many touch downs as he wants also it should be the couch's job to set him out or put him in the game. So what whould happen if they were in a game and the team is losing and he was not in the game?

    October 5, 2011 at 5:28 pm |
  404. Max

In the NFL if a team is beating the other team 65 to 0 they don't say okay now give up the ball and let some other person have it no that team still gets to score. Also this kid is only what grade?! I don't think this rule should to anybody the other people are just not playing hard enough!

    October 5, 2011 at 5:30 pm |
  405. Denielle

I think this rule should not have been decided to be made official because it will prevent players from being the best they can be. The best way of handling this would be by, maybe, just having him play other positions and teach others how they can improve on his position.

    October 5, 2011 at 5:32 pm |
  406. Talieyka

If he can play too good for 6 grade football why dont you just send him to 7 th grade football! Is that so complicated!

    October 5, 2011 at 5:42 pm |
  407. Laura

I strongly believe in fairness, but although this is fair for the rest of the team,Demias should be able to move up or at least be able to have fun in a different way.I would hate to be left out for good work, instead he should be rewarded.

    October 5, 2011 at 5:43 pm |
  408. John

unfair!!!! if he is that good he should be sent to seventh grade football or the rule should be lifted.

    October 5, 2011 at 5:49 pm |
  409. Veronica

I think it is unfair, because as he progresses the people who he plays with progress as well. The rule will most likely stay until he's possibly in NFL.

    October 5, 2011 at 5:53 pm |
  410. Alexandra

If hes so good out him in a more advanced group. The he will be playing with people his skill level and he will still be able to play. Holding him back wont encourage him to do other things at his best as well.

    October 5, 2011 at 5:55 pm |
  411. Kwame

I think that that is very unfaif. Just because your good doesn't mean you should be put out of a game. Was the point of practicing If you don't get to show. If they can't accept the fact that he is too good then they need to move him to a higher level

    October 5, 2011 at 5:56 pm |
  412. Andrew

its not right because at my school we usely play kickball but he ays he too good to play and thats not right when your to good to play

    October 5, 2011 at 6:00 pm |
  413. Antonio

I think there is yes the rule should stay and a no this rule should begone, if people payed for their son/daughter to play they should allow the rule to stand. My no to this is if this is collage, high school,or middle school he should be able to go his fullest. Unless the kids payed for that too, they have nothing to lose besides a ticket to the playoffs.

    October 5, 2011 at 6:17 pm |
  414. Emma

I think it is only fair to let him play, he can't help if he is better than everyone else!

    October 5, 2011 at 6:28 pm |
  415. Mackenzie

I think its not fair for him to have something that he is good at just taken away from him.He should be allowed to make as many touch-downs as he wants thats why hes apart of the team.

    October 5, 2011 at 6:29 pm |
  416. Braden

i think the kid should be able play the whole game because it is not fair for him to be pulled from the game.his coach should just put him in a diffrent position so that he is still envolved in the game.

    October 5, 2011 at 6:38 pm |
  417. Braden

play him against harder players and defense

    October 5, 2011 at 6:40 pm |
  418. Nimrod

Personally I think this new rule is both fair and unfair.

It's fair towards the other players on the team, now they'll be able to actually play and score.

Though at the same time it's also unfair to him (the 6th grader). He wouldn't be able to enjoy the game as much, they should consider moving him up into 7th grade football.

    Just my opinion.

    October 5, 2011 at 6:44 pm |
  419. Alexa

I think he should be able to express his talents. It is not fair to him to get benched because he is better than everyone else. He at least should be able to move up a league. It is very unfair!

    October 5, 2011 at 6:49 pm |
  420. Mikalee

I dont think that is fair to make him stop playing good. If he wants to play, let him play!

    October 5, 2011 at 6:56 pm |
  421. Vince

I don't believe it's right for a player to be punished for being "too good." It's the coach's responsibilty to give equal playing time and a mercy rule is highly unnecessary.

    October 5, 2011 at 6:57 pm |
  422. Tim

If this kid is so good at football the last thing you want to do is restrict him from it. He should want to play with a better team than these 6th graders too...like 7th or 8th grade. If he is so good than he should also think about college!!!

    October 5, 2011 at 6:58 pm |
  423. robin

I think he should keep playing. I just think it si unfair for him to stop at somthing he is good at .Even though some players dont score touch downs and he really does, STILL DOES NOT MEAN YOU NEED TO STOP HIM!

    October 5, 2011 at 7:00 pm |
  424. Destiney

I think it is the coaches and principles call for how the student is playing there shouldnt be any law against any student but if i were him i would just ask to be upgraded to higher school grade and to play in the high school football if there is a high school football team... i think it is wrong and unfair to make a law that does not make any sense...

    October 5, 2011 at 7:07 pm |
  425. A.J.

I think this is an unfair rule. I think this rule comes into play because the other teams should have a chance to win and it might lower the other players self-esteem. This rule might lower the other players self-esteem because they think they need a mercy rule to win the game.

    October 5, 2011 at 7:10 pm |
  426. tanner

I think that he shoud not go by this rule at all.

    October 5, 2011 at 7:11 pm |
  427. Hunter

I think that this is a good rule because if you are playing at a young age all of the players should be able to make touchdowns. If they don't let other players get touchdowns what fun would it be to them. If Demias is okay with this rule then they should follow through with it.

    October 5, 2011 at 7:13 pm |
  428. Jon

this is an act of injustice this rule should apply to all stodents!!!!!!!!!

    October 5, 2011 at 7:17 pm |
  429. Chandler

I think the rule is fair. I know when I play sports I don't get to score a lot because people are always passing to the super Athletic kids and I don't really get a chance. Also, above me "D.J." posted that it was unfair. It is kind of strange that D.J. could possibly stand for Demias Jimerson.

    Hmmmm.

    October 5, 2011 at 7:24 pm |
  430. jaquan

i think that he shouldn't be taken out of the game because of his talent. it's unfair to him, if were any other sport i don't think they would have that rule.

    October 5, 2011 at 7:30 pm |
  431. Anna

I think it is unfair to make him sit on the sidelines when he doesn't get to do what he loves. They should let him do football at a higher level to make it fair for everyone. It's not his fault he's good.

    October 5, 2011 at 7:39 pm |
  432. Bella

i think it is fair that this kid is good at football so he should be in harder football or just let the him sit out

    October 5, 2011 at 7:40 pm |
  433. celeste

i think it unfair no one should be set back because there better than everybody else he should be sent to play with the older kids

    October 5, 2011 at 7:53 pm |
  434. andrew

I think that it is good to do this because the other kids should have a chance to score some points to

    October 5, 2011 at 7:54 pm |
  435. Megan

I don't think its fair that tey put a mercy rule on him. They shouldn't punish someone who is good, just because others aren't at that level. They don't make professionals stop after 3 touchdowns, or in soccer they don't make a limit on how many goals you can score. If anything they should only make him play a year up, so its more fair, but you cannot punish him. If you're good at something it shouldn't be a punishment but more of a reward.

    October 5, 2011 at 7:54 pm |
  436. Shahamat

I think Demias should be allowed to play. Some people are just better at things than others. Its like saying in a spelling bee you can't answer more than five words right to give others a chance to win. He is putting his ability to its fullest potential, but I am not surprised that he supports that he is only allowed to score three touchdowns. If I were in his position I wouldn't want to see my fellow teammates not getting to play because of me.

    October 5, 2011 at 7:55 pm |
  437. adrianne

i think he should be able to play because its a life time experince

    October 5, 2011 at 7:58 pm |
  438. payton

they shouldn't do that to a kid maybe he wants to be a football player
and if you don't let him play its like crushing his dream

    October 5, 2011 at 8:06 pm |
  439. nick

I think he should be able to play because he has the right. If they think he is to good then they on the 7th grade team.

    October 5, 2011 at 8:08 pm |
  440. Joseph

I would feel discouraged if I was good at something and I wasn't allowed to preform to the best of my ability. I don't think that rule will help Demias get any better; he may even try less, just to play more. Even if he is okay with it, I think this is the wrong way to treat someone with talent.

    October 5, 2011 at 8:09 pm |
  441. Malissa

i dont think they should hold him back. They could be raising the next generation of super bowl players and not know it. I think that if they tell him we're limitting your touchdowns he might rebel and fail his classes because of depression.

    October 5, 2011 at 8:14 pm |
  442. Sue

I think it's unfair for him to have to sit out the rest of the game. But you have to learn that lifes not fair and if his couch wan'ts to sit him out it's fine. But he should sit be able to play even thought none of the other players are good enough to score like him.

    October 5, 2011 at 8:16 pm |
  443. Dinah

Im sorry if i get mean but they better veto the rule becuase its like teling your parents they cant be your parents,or teling your teacher they cant tell you what to do so i think the rule so be veto or just move to gifted basketball,..if that possible>:0

    October 5, 2011 at 8:24 pm |
  444. Hunter

Well i guess the rule would be ok, but I don't think it's fair to destroy someone's personal talet. People should let the future's stars shine.

    October 5, 2011 at 8:28 pm |
  445. Libby

I think this rule is not fair because Demias should get to score as many times as he wants. If the others don't score as much, they need more practice on the field. Also Demias should be able to be the best he can and that is scoring lots of touchdowns.

    October 5, 2011 at 8:29 pm |
  446. Claire

I think he should be able to play because he showing that with a lot of practice the younger kids can be like him, and also he is misses out of all the fun of playing.

    October 5, 2011 at 8:30 pm |
  447. Areli

i think its unfair! limiting to how many touchdowns he can make, let the boy do what hes good at, let him have fun! This can all just help him get a scholar ship!

    October 5, 2011 at 8:31 pm |
  448. Maddy

Well, in one hand you want Demias to excel and be as great as he can be! But in the other you want other kids to score and fun with the sport. So I'm at a crossroads...

    October 5, 2011 at 8:32 pm |
  449. Amanda

If the kid is good at what they are doing, then let them do it. It isn't his fault he's great or maybe the others are falling behind. Let the kids talent grow. Isn't that partly what school is about? To tell a child that they can't do something because they did this good thing this many times is wrong. It's like telling them not to help anyone because they've already helped three people. I mean it's great and all to include people, but aren't there always talented people and people just there because their parents told them to? So in this situation, I think the principal wrong.

    October 5, 2011 at 8:33 pm |
  450. Tegan

I see how they would think that that is the right thing to do, but I disagree. Yes everybody deserves a change to play but let the kid do what he's good at and enjoy it! Not be told there is a limit to the things he can do.

    October 5, 2011 at 8:43 pm |
  451. Maccee

i don't think it's fair because all he's doing is having fun and all they are doing is taking that fun away. He should be able to score and have a winning team at the same time. Period.

    October 5, 2011 at 8:47 pm |
  452. RYAN

Just saw the video in s.s class and i think that he should be able to play, but should be limited

    October 5, 2011 at 8:49 pm |
  453. Kami

Yo, I think this rule is good because it gives the other players a chance to shine. They might feel like he gets all the attention because they aren't as great. I do think Demais should have a say in it though. ;)

    October 5, 2011 at 8:49 pm |
  454. Jeremy

Why should a kid not get to play because he is "Too Good"? In the future will we be kicking off every kid that's more than normal from doing a pastime better than others? That is the reason why we practice! To get better! It makes no sense at all.

    October 5, 2011 at 8:59 pm |
  455. Connor

I think they should restrain the ammount of touchdowns he can make because if he's just geting touchdowns its not fair to the other players on the team. They should just put him in seventh grade foot ball against older kids so everyon gets their time to shine.

    October 5, 2011 at 9:01 pm |
  456. Caitlin

if the kid is good at a game then still let him play, so what if it isnt fair to other kids, if he doesn't get to play then how is it fair for him

    October 5, 2011 at 9:04 pm |
  457. Bella

he should play because then they could win every single game!!

    October 5, 2011 at 9:08 pm |
  458. Taya

I think the rule is good because if he's the only one making touchdowns then there shouldn't even be a team. But if he can only make so many touchdowns then that means the other kids get to score as well.
    It's only 6th grade.

    October 5, 2011 at 9:12 pm |
  459. Loocey

I think it is very unfair for him not to play because if he can't score or play he might loose his talent and might not be good like he used to play and if he doesn't play he might loose his inspiration in football. So let him play!

    October 5, 2011 at 9:14 pm |
  460. Ervin

I think this rule is good and bad. Obviously the principle of the school want's everyone part of the game, so everyones happy. However Jimerson still deserves to practice. If football is truly his future he should get the most practice as possible. The important thing is that he just doesn't brag. Then nobody will play.

    October 5, 2011 at 9:18 pm |
  461. Oksana

Demias should be able to play if and when he wants to. If it's going to be so much of a problem for him to play with people his age, just move him up a few leagues so he can play with people who are harder to beat. They shouldn't hide his talent because it's better than others'.

    October 5, 2011 at 9:19 pm |
  462. william

I think that they are holding back the whole team when they don't let him score a touchdown. Also the other team can srtategize and win because the kid isn't allowed to play Therefore he should be allowed to play in the game no matter what the situation.TAKE BACK THE RULE IT'S UNFAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    October 5, 2011 at 9:21 pm |
  463. Johann

I think that is not fair because if he is on the team then he should be able to play even though if he has already 3 touchdowns and his team is ahead by 14 points

    October 5, 2011 at 9:36 pm |
  464. Charlie

I think that he should go up to seventh grade football and if that isn't good enough eight. Everyone wants to play and being excluded because your good is never fun. Also, I think if he wants to play with people his age and people his age want to play with him, the kids in that one game should make rules for just that game so next time, different rules apply.

    October 5, 2011 at 9:38 pm |
  465. Rosalee

If anything he should be promoted to the 7th grade or maybe even 8th grade team? Why let good talent be put to waste. It will only show him that he won't be able to be up to his full potential just because others can't keep up with him.

    October 5, 2011 at 9:40 pm |
  466. Bob

I think it is wrong because you cannot stop someone from showing their talent. The other people on the team need to shape up and need to get to Demias's level.

    October 5, 2011 at 9:48 pm |
  467. cureaion

i dont think its fair that he doesnt get to play its not his fault that hes good at football

    October 5, 2011 at 10:11 pm |
  468. kody

i believe that there should be no mercy rule because its no fun to have to stop in a great sport also the defence needs to know how to stop him for the next game

    October 5, 2011 at 10:11 pm |
  469. Emily

yea its fun for other players to get a chance but why hide his talent why not bump him up to a higher football level like 7Th grade

    October 5, 2011 at 10:14 pm |
  470. Justin

totallly unfair! Who does this kind of thing? He should play no matter how good he is

    October 5, 2011 at 10:14 pm |
  471. melina

you should let everyone play not just the best playser.other kids might feel bad.

    October 5, 2011 at 10:17 pm |
  472. Katherine

Its not right! If someone has a natural talent they should be able to show it. It's not like you want the other team to win,if he can score more than the other team the coach and the team should support him! If they can't accept that then they shouldn't have football at all!

    October 5, 2011 at 10:21 pm |
  473. Cassidy

I was thinking about the situation this kid is in and how it related to my life. You see, at my school girls soccer is devided up into a an A team and a B team. I bet you can guess which one is better. I'm on the B team and I'm fine with that and all but on Saturday we're going to a game and a lot of our players are not able to come. So now some of the A team people are going to play with us. I like this except for one thing, I'm afraid that since they're better soccer players I won't get to play as much. That instead of me or some one on my team shooting the entire game will be A team A team A team. This bothers me and almost makes me wish we had a "Mercy Rule." But then I think about it from their point of view and it all changes. They're people just like me. All they want is to do their best and, hopefully, win. It shouldn't be a penalty for being good at something. Should it?

    October 5, 2011 at 10:38 pm |
  474. Woods

I think it's wrong. He's only a kid! Aren't we always tell our kids to their best? Why deny him what makes him feel good about himself?

    October 5, 2011 at 10:48 pm |
  475. Shiva

I think this rule is unfair because if you are good at something and forced to not be able to do what you are good at, that talent is not useful at that time.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:05 pm |
  476. George

Well this is fair so that other fans of football can have a chance of actually to win or have a chance so it fair everyone has to be treated the same. Even if that is being to wait a little bit...

    October 5, 2011 at 11:08 pm |
  477. Katy

the rule is stupid!!! If a player is good they should show the world what they can do, it's not fair to let someone who loves the game of football not play. For example if you were good at something and loved it so much would you want someone telling you, you can't participate because it's not fair to the other team? NO!!!! You'd probably be freak'n out.....................

    October 5, 2011 at 11:31 pm |
  478. Ashley

I think thats missed up. I mean he does good. Thats good. So i think they just need to put him in a team thats as good as him.

    October 5, 2011 at 11:58 pm |
  479. Malaki

Its really wrong to take out a kid that is in middile school for scoring a surten amount and not letting hom play after words. Its like benching your only quterback that can make successful plays.I think the choise on benching the kid is all up to the coach because one he should be the one to deside when and how much time each player can.Second if they have a problem of how good the kid is the start training more kids to make more touchdowns then him or as more.It only goes so far to stop a kids dream but at very young age when the stakes aren't even like high school.

    October 6, 2011 at 12:12 am |
  480. Joe

There is no such thing as being too good. Such things should be rephrased as "Better than others". Rules like this are unfair, and prohibit the player from being good. When you play, you are supposed to play to the best of your ability. This rule takes away that idea of the game, just to make it more enjoyable to others.

They shouldnt hold his talent back. He has a natural talent for football. He could get a scholarship for it, and they are just going to let it fade away. They should just move him up into 7th grade football so he can get better. Their just going to apply that rule to him again next year. Thats because he will be with those same students next year and new students that like football will not be as good as him.

  482. Destany

I don't think it's fair that he can't play through the whole game if he makes a certain amount of touuchdowns. If you don't want him to put him on defense or in general a different position. That way its fair to his team as it is to him.

    October 6, 2011 at 7:13 am |

So this kid is the best player in sixth grade football that they've seen so far.If he is so good you should just let him play with or aganist a higer grade level. If he is so good you should let him play because it's adding to his skill of learning.

    October 6, 2011 at 7:19 am |
  484. Destany

If this kid were as good as they say he's got a chance of doing something great in his life.Who knows that one sixth grader from there school could probally go to NFL, but without all the skills of learning from playing he might lose some of his skills and not be able to playat all. By skills I mean getting along with people, knowing the rules, andknowing how to behave. His parents are probally very disapointed by the schol princapal.

He can play really well so i don't think the coches should reward him by siting on a bench. All the other player should try there best on the field and keep practicing.

I think if he's that good he should be able to play. If they say anything the coach should be more considerit about how long he allows the players to play in the game. If he continuosly gets touch downs he should be taken out for a rest.

I think It's very mean to say that you can't play If you are to good but still, everyone should be able to play and score points.

It is a bad rule to start off with. I dont like that rule because i understand that this kid is scored all the touchdowns but he is playinq to win. I disagree about siting him out.

I Think that isnt Fair to him,If he better than the rest of his age group let him be the best let him blow other teams out he has a natural talent ist football that waht u do they cant stop cam newton for scoring 6 tds a game i think they should change that rule somthing is very fishy about how they made that rule for him only i think we should do somthing about that foreal cause it just keep making me made every time i here that...

I Think That The Kid Should Be Allowed To Play. Its Nit His Fault That The Other People Cant Score, Life Isnt Fair They Should Learn That In 6th Grade So Not Every Thing Has To Be Fair.. Either Get Better At FootBall Or Stop Playing, Bot His Fault He Is Better Then The Other Ones.

    October 6, 2011 at 9:18 am |
  495. Laramey

I feel that the rule about him not being able to score anymore is absurd. If a kid is good enough to score, let him score. You can’t limit a player or they won’t be able to be the best that they can. I am an athlete and if I was told I couldn’t score anymore I would be upset, that isn’t fair to player. Football is a team sport, not just one kid can do everything, and other players are involved. If Demias’s teammates don’t care and want the best for him then it shouldn’t be a big deal. I hope that they school realizes that this kid needs to be able to compete and do the best he can so when he gets to high school he can compete at a higher level, and be a truly amazing asset to a team.

The 14 year old should have keep on playing in the game for extra points in the game. The 14 year old had to seet down during half-time only.

    October 6, 2011 at 9:38 am |
  498. carly

At that age I think yes that rule should apply .But in latter years he should be aloud to make as many goals as he wants!! Or they can just put him in to a 7th gade football.

  499. katie

Its never fair to put a player on the bench. he's only in the sixth grade this is nfl. when you put him on the bench its like putting you carl out for other anchors

    October 6, 2011 at 10:10 am |
  500. Joey

I think he has a right to play but to make it fair for everyone he should be moved up to an age group where he plays against people around his skill level so he can improve.

    October 6, 2011 at 10:26 am |
  501. Dakota

I think that he should be able to use all of is skills, if the mercy rule holds him back from his full potential they should either put him in the 7th grade team or not run as many plays with him. But don't reject him the opportunity to play.

    October 6, 2011 at 10:29 am |
  502. jesse

I really disagree with this for one he’s only 11 and it’s not like its high school or college where you go to state and all that big stuff. Two because there are some very talented athletes out there you don’t want to start discouraging great athletes and make them want to quite practicing. Who’s to say this won’t make kids think why should I be good if I can’t play. Coaches discourage kids who aren’t good and won’t put them in now were discouraging kids who could make it somewhere. Then we wouldn’t have any of those star athletes that go on to college.

If a player has this much talent he should be playing a level up instead of punishing him for using his talent and doing what your supposed to do in the game of football

i don't think its fair why should Demias Jimerson have to suffer and you should be happy you guys are winning games and i'm pretty Demias Jimerson isn't just going around saying pass me the ball and stuff like that. i think they couls address this a lot better.

  511. DAVID

I think he should be avaible to play but only when his team losing.
That way is team has an equal chance of losing or winning .
They should do that or put him in seventh grade football team.

you shoul let him play football becuse it is unfair that he doesent get to playand he wont be able to live his dream and he can show he's talint andhe woul not be happy i dont think this rule is not fair so he shuold play football and other kids could look up to him and say i want to be like him one day

I don't think it's fair that he has a limit. He plays for the game, not for sitting on the bench.

Honestly, this is just wrong. If they don't want good players, then why make a team? This kid will win for them! That's like telling Carl he's too good to host CNN Student News! They either need to let him stay and win all their games or move him into a higher football level. Plus, people will want to get better if he stays so that they have a better chance and becoming good! So really, it's their loss. Football isn't supposed to be easy!

its not his fault hes good , practice makes perfect .
he shouldnt be punished for being good at something he loves .
bump him up a playing level ?
put him w. bigger kids .

  517. Kris

I feel he should not be punished for being good at what he does i do understand parents would like there child to get that magic moment when they make a touch down but its all a matter of practice i am sure Demias practices everyday and proved he can play why should he be punished for that if i were a coach i rather have a play who works hard practices everyday on my team then the ones who dont take any effort or pride on being on my team to some kids its a popularity stunt to others its there dream to play

    October 7, 2011 at 10:33 am |
  518. Danielle

The guy has obviously got to have some major talent if this rule is in place and the boy seems fine with it. I think that the rule is fair and yet not fair. It's fair because it's good sportsmanship for the other team and it teaches the boy to not just play and expect starting every game but to cheer on his team when he's not on the field. It's not fair because it's a competitive sport where the objective is to score as many points as possible. That doesn't stop other schools from scoring to the best of their ability. All in all, I think the rule is fair.

    October 7, 2011 at 11:35 am |
  519. Robert

If the player is good, then he should be out on the field, however i personally feel that he should be subbed in and out with other players. It's not fair to the other young players that one kid gets all the glory and the others have to just sit and watch. If they were professionals, then he would need to be out there almost the whole game, but these are young kids were talking about...regardless though, i believe that he should be swapped out of the line-up every now and then to give others a chance. Maybe scoring three touchdowns isn't too much, but let's say the score is 60-0 and Demias has scored all the touchdowns. That wouldn't be fair to the other players, and maybe there's players on the team that are just as great if not better that aren't seeing the type of playing time they should because the coach(es) are too consumed with young Jimerson.

    October 7, 2011 at 12:44 pm |
  520. Amanda

It's not fair to Demias that he cannot play just because he is "too good". Instead of keeping him from playing the game, they should move him up into 7th grade football or just coach the other players better. Nobody ever stopped Michael Jordan or other "young" athletes from playing just because they could score more than everybody else, so nobody should stop Demias. It's inspiring that he doesn't mind the rule, and that just shows that he is a very kind, well raised kid who will achieve great into his future.

    October 7, 2011 at 12:50 pm |
  521. Emma

I don't think letting a boy not play because of how good he is, is fair. In high school and Jr.high the students will have to learn that the harder you work, the better you get. So if he can't practice and play to his best ability, the coaches are just holding him back.

    October 9, 2011 at 11:58 am |
  522. Erin

He may be good at football but not the best he can be, that it is why he should move up a grade level for football so everyone is equal.

  523. Jyssica

Any sport you play is not a one person’s job its everybody job. Everybody has an important job in a sport if its basketball to football everybody has an important part. I think everybody should get to play and the person that made all the touchdowns have someone else has a chance to score and make some points for the team. It’s a team sport and everybody should help make point. He should play when his team is struggling and then he could be the player that helps his team out and they have a victory to celebrate. He should not play when there ahead like bunch and have someone else play it’s a team sport and I think everybody should get to play when the team is up by a bunch of points.

    October 9, 2011 at 2:38 pm |
  524. Brody

This rule is like saying, "You're too good to play you can't play at all."

    October 9, 2011 at 2:51 pm |
  525. Daniel

I think he should be allowed to to score as many touchdowns as he wants. He should be allowed to show off his skills and get his team to the top. The other teams will just have to get better through practice.

    October 9, 2011 at 3:01 pm |
  526. Rachel

i think that its fair to not let him play some quarters because its fair to the other players who wont get to play at all.

  527. Aaron

I do NOT like it! I is like telling J.K. Rowling she can not write Harry Potter books to give other authors a chance to have their books read a lot and made movies!

    October 9, 2011 at 6:11 pm |
  528. Emily

I think he should be allowed to do all the things that he can while he is at this age. I mean they can't send him to the NFL now can they? No, they can't. So let him do what he wants.

    October 9, 2011 at 6:21 pm |
  529. Jackie

i think he will help the team alot. putting him on a "halt" for touchdowns is a cruel punishment on his strengths. This skill could help him get a scholorship so why not practice now?

    October 9, 2011 at 7:07 pm |
  530. Jackie

putting him on stop for touchdowns should be illegal the same way stealing is. because you might be stealing away this boys future

    October 9, 2011 at 7:10 pm |
  531. Jackie

If Peyton Manning or any football player for that matter could score as many touchdowns as they want why cant Demias?

    October 9, 2011 at 7:14 pm |
  532. Laura

This is ridiculous. Any and all players should be allowed to play. Let's face it: some people are better players than others, but that doesn't mean they should be put on the bench! It means they should be helping the team to achieve their maximum strengths. It's not fair to bench the one kid JUST because he's the best. It's not logic and it's not right. All players should be given the right to play. Sure, we don't wanna keep the SAME guy playing all game; but we don't wanna keep him on the bench EITHER! Where's the benefit? 'Cause I don't see one. i just see a bunch of whiny babies who are upset because they're not the best players and someone is better than them. Suck it up! Not everyone can be great at EVERYTHING. It's a known fact. And it's the truth.

    October 9, 2011 at 8:02 pm |
  533. Maddie

I don't think that they shouldn't let him play because he's too good. It just means he practices hard. It makes the other teams work harder to beat his team.

    October 9, 2011 at 8:13 pm |
  534. Marcus

If you are really that good, ones level of competition should be elevated. You cant just stop someone from scoring, and what are they going to do if he does get into the endzone? Fine him? He's in 5th grade. Let it go, or let him play with the big boys. Don't change the way the game is played.

    October 9, 2011 at 9:18 pm |
  535. MiCayla

I think it is not fair I basketball and I score a lot of points and THe coach or refferee never tell me to stop making points so it is not fair i mean give the boy a chance is that fair or what I mean come on.

    October 9, 2011 at 9:21 pm |
  536. Jacee

I think this rule is unfair. He was blessed with a great talent and he should be able to use it to its full potential. No matter how good he is there is always something to learn and if he someday hopes to further his athletic career he deserves the opportunity to continue to grow and learn just like every other kid. I understand that the maybe he shouldn’t get the ball every time, but that should be the coaches judgment, not a rule. I also agree the 14 points does not mean the game is in the bag. He should be allowed to help his team until the very end. As our basketball coach always tells us when we are winning, it is not our job to stop ourselves.

    October 9, 2011 at 11:47 pm |
  537. Lanier

If this guy can score on 6th graders all the time then it's obvious that he needs to play with 7th graders. Also it might mean that the teams this team is playing may not be good. Then I could understand the rule, but meanwhile let the boy play some football!

    October 10, 2011 at 7:45 am |
  538. Lydia

They should let him score however much he can because if the other team isn't doing good that doesnt mean you gotta punish the good team! So obviously you should let the boy play his sport!

    October 10, 2011 at 7:45 am |
  539. Joe

I think it's not fair! He's a very gifted person ,so they should let him do it. Of course let the other kids play ,but if he wants to play.......let him.

    October 10, 2011 at 7:48 am |
  540. ashleigh

i dont think it is right to make someone sit out for how good they are... maybe if he is that good he should get put out on the higher teams like 7th or 8th grade

    October 10, 2011 at 8:24 am |
  541. Arim

I think it is fair to give other players chance. If the player goaled enough, then people would think that the player is a good player. The reason why the player goals much is because to win and to make people recognize that he or she is a good player. By giving lots of goals, he or she can be recognized as a good player. Besides, giving the other player a chance is to considering someone. And this is a good thing.

    October 10, 2011 at 8:57 am |
  542. Audra

I think that he should be allowed to play how ever he likes. I think it's mean that they aren't letting him play how he wants to play. The other kids should try and keep up.

What position does he play is he a QB or a reciver because one of my brothers is a QB and he has a rocket for an arm! :) I herd that acording to him God comes first then grades after that sports. I do think it is wrong does it mean that he wouldn't be able to go to the NFL ?`

    October 10, 2011 at 9:38 am |

he should be allowed to score because if he doesn't score that's holding him back from what he has the potential to do.

    October 10, 2011 at 10:07 am |
  545. Laura

I think it is a bad idea that Demias Jimerson can’t score anymore touchdowns. He shouldn’t be punished for being a good football player. I realize that they are trying to make it so other people can score for the team, but this kid is just trying to do his best. He can’t do his best if he’s not allowed to take the ball to the end zone. Football is still a team sport and just because not everyone is scoring touchdowns doesn’t mean they aren’t needed on the team. Football isn’t all about winning, but it is about having kids try their hardest, and by scoring touchdowns, Demias is trying his hardest. He should not be punished by not being able to score.

    October 10, 2011 at 10:38 am |
  546. Keagan

I think he should be able to score as many touchdowns as he can and that even though he is really good that he shouldn't be penalized for his skill. Everyone should be treated equal I think.

    October 10, 2011 at 10:44 am |
  547. Adam

I think that the rule is entirely fair. It gives everybody a chance to play and the other team is not discouraged because Demias is doing to well. The rule is also fair because Demias still gets to play, he just cannot score. This way everybody gets a fair chance and nobody is being treated unfairly.

    October 10, 2011 at 11:39 am |
  548. Noah

I think that the adults have some right to do what they are doing to Demias It does not really matter if he scores lots of touchdowns or not. Right now it seems only fair that he should have to give other players a chance. On the other hand it really seems unfair to Demias. He should be able to score as many as he likes and it should not have to matter. I going to say that the rule is fair, but I do not think badly of anyone who thinks the rule is unfair.

    October 10, 2011 at 11:44 am |
  549. Spencer

I believe that it is fair because if you let him score all the touchdowns the score will be 107 – 10 thats like his team having fifteen touchdowns and a saftey (2 points) . If you were the opposing team your self esteam would be ruined.

    October 10, 2011 at 12:14 pm |
  550. Stephen

I think that the rule is not fair. Just because he was born with natural talent, doesn't mean he shouldn't be able to express it. This could lead on to less motivation and would change his mind about wanting to advance.

    October 10, 2011 at 12:15 pm |
  551. Victoria

Nobody is "too good to play". Everybody does deserve a chance to score a touchdown, but it's not his fault that he's the best player on the team. If he's scoring "too many" touchdowns, then the coach should challenge him so it's harder for him to score. For example, Jimerson could have to run a certain number of yards before being allowed (by his coach) to make a touchdown. What needs to change is not who's on the bench, but the amount of skill being drawn out from Jimerson.

    October 10, 2011 at 12:16 pm |
  552. Blake

he should be able to play and the school should niot be able to restict his playing that should be his or if the coach asks and he agrees

  554. Troi

I don't think its right to limit a player if he too good he needs to go to a higher league not be downgraded on how well he plays
God gave him talent for a reason and i don't think its right to downgrade him for being great if he's to good i think he needs to go to a higher league
thats like saying kobe bryant cant be the best he can be and score all the points because the Miami heat needs a chance to score it just isn't right

    October 10, 2011 at 1:26 pm |
  555. Jagger

I think that if they don't let him play as much it will hurt his skill and maybe might make him want to quit if he doesn't get as much playing time just because he is better than the other kids in the league. also he is trying 100% maybe the other kids think is to good and are scared to go after him and that's why he makes so much touchdowns every game

    October 10, 2011 at 1:52 pm |
  556. Megan

I think he shoud be able to play, and score as many touchdowns as he wants, if hes ony in the sixth grade, maybe its time for him to play with a older group of boys who have the same skill level. Its not his fault hes good, that or the other kids need to step up their game,

    October 10, 2011 at 2:39 pm |
  557. Chloe

Why hold an eleven year old boy back from what he's good at? If he does so amazingly well with football, then he should be able to shine with it instead of being held back. It's just not fair at all! I know that if the same went for me, that I would be mad and talk to somebody about it. But, I would continue to play strong and hard.

    October 10, 2011 at 3:27 pm |
  558. Gingy

I don't think someone should be retained from doing something just because they are exceedingly talented, if anything he should be encouraged to keep up the good effort. If his skills in football are making his classmates feel left out than the school should have him play with upper classmen, not exile him from the sport after he's made an allotted number of points; because in my opinion that's like telling Bill Gates not to work with technology, which is what he does best so why stop him? It makes sense that the other kids want to participate, but there are other ways of achieving that instead of holding someone back because they are "too good".

    October 10, 2011 at 3:32 pm |

I agree with the girl named Emily. If he dosen't play he'll be mad and he cant be sent to the nfl

I think that just because he is great at this game, doesn't mean he can't play it. I think other kids should be happy that now they have some one to compete against.

I think that Demias Jimerson should keep on scoring. The team will be learnig from him and he will help the team win. Benching him or not letting him score will just make him think that scoring is bad. The coach should let him be good so he is ready for the NFL.

He should be able to play. Being a good player doesn't necessarily mean he can not play for the rest of the game. People need to acccept that others can play better than most people. This isn't fair and the principal should reconsider what he or she said. In most schools, they let anybody play no matter how many touchdowms they score. Even though everyone should be able to make a score, this still isn't nice to do this boy. Clearly, the school should let Devian continue to play even though he scored many touchdowns.

I think that it is totally fair, because if their team isn't up by 14 points he can still score. Also it lets the other players play. If he was scoring all the points it wouldn't be fair to the others.

Personally, I believe that Demias should be able to play. When someone like that is playing the people of the school should be proud that atleast SOMEONE is making the school win. Just say that he sits down, then lets see who makes the school win. What the principle says makes sense but that doesn't mean Demias should sit on the bench. The other peers around him have to try harder. This is the same situation that all students in school are going through when there is a very very bright person and other students are there too but the competition is still going between the students to get to the 1st of class but its not always on their side. However, no one complains about that so this shouldn't be a problem at all. So what if there is a school star? So what if the child is talented? People should only encourage that but not discourage it! Thus, my opinion is to let Demias to go onto the field and make his school proud of him.

i think that is unfair they should let him play no matter what because really its up to the coach to sit him down or let him score touchdowns not the referee.i also think that he should not go up to a higher squad because number one he's to young and number two he is not going to get the ball at all because he is smaller. so what i think is that they should let the kid play no matter if he has scored a lot because thats why he is on the team ..to score and win by a lot.

I think that the student should be put in a 7th grade football team. its not the child fault that he is such a good player. i don't think it's fair to not let him lay because the kid is going to feel left out and will be sad. there is always a good and a bad player and he is good so i think he should be able to play on the team and the coach should give him some competition.

This situation is both fair & unfair to Demias. It's fair because everyone deserves a chance to score and a chance to play. It's also unfair because he gets taken out of the game because he's EXTREMELY talented. It's kind of like a teacher giving a straight A student a C because they're too smart.

i think that he should be the best he can be. No rule should stop someone from achieving thier goal. As Albert Enistein said, “You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.” and i think that is what he is doing. No one should stand in his way.

I think that it is not fair to him. He's better than the rest of his age group. It is not his fault that he's that good. They should let him be the best that he can be. He is truly great at what he plays and that they should not be discouraging him to not play his best or to let some other team win. I completly disagree and i think they went way out of hand. They should let the kid play and be happy doing what he does best... play football!

I believe that it is important to give other kids an opportunity for them to score, but suppressing a star player's talent to allow kids to score goes a bit to far, if the case is that drastic then promote Demias to a higher level football group so he can excel at or above his level, without suppressing his talents by benching him.

I thik that is not right if the kid is that good bring him up to his level. It's supprising that a teacher would do that.

I don't think it is fair because, if you have a talent, you shouldn't have it go to waste. The teammates are greatful to have an amazing player. If the school won't let him play on his team, I think that he would be better on the high scool varsity team.

I understand why the kid and others would be upset, the basic idea is to win, but I also like the fact they give everyone a chance and it should be so. This way they learn to share, teamwork, and egos dont get out of hand. This kid has an excelllent career ahead-they look at how they play as well as i am sure teamwork. They could play him in the beginning and then in the end to make up if needed. but i think the principle is right as long as it is the real reason. he will be watched by the pros for quite some time:)

It is not fair for him to e punished for being good at football, and if they can't handle him, they should just bring him up a level to play will older people.

I don’t think that it is fair that they gave Demias the rule that if his team is up by 14 and he has already scored 3 touchdowns then he isn’t allowed to score anymore. Just because he is better than the other players doesn’t mean you should punish him for being able to score a lot of points. The point of football is to score against the other team and all of that and by holding Demias back it is going against the basis of football. I say they should let him play and make his touchdowns and then if they get a head by a lot then the coach should pull him out and give him a break or have the quarterback throw to someone else and let them score some points also. It isn’t fair to hold just one player back from showing all of his potential.

I think that this rule I completely unfair. That's like saying a tall twelve year old can't play basketball because he is to tall. It's not fair to students who are good at what they love. If a kid is good at a sport then let him play, there is no reason they shouldn't be allowed to play.

I think that it all depends on the perspective that you look at it with. If I were Demias it would be unfair because I would want to play the entire game. I would think that it was unfair because normally the good players would get to play most of the game. If I were a player I would like the rule because then I could get a chance to score. This would help me feel better about myself and how I was playing. I can see how the teacher would pick the other kids side because a lot of the time the authority will pick the majority. But sometimes they should think about the kid getting left out.

Demias should be allowed to play. knowing that he only scored 3 touch downs and the rest scored the 11 then they should go against more difficult teams, maybe that would make Demias play longer.

I think it's not very fair in a lot of ways. He should be playing and should be having fun even if he is very good at playing football. The NFL doesn't do that nor any other league. If the people who passed the law still won't accept him then put him in an older kid's league.

i think its not fine to let him play after three touchdowns really how bout 4 or five touchdown but really 3 is just weird.

I think it is a very unfair thing, because if a NFL player was better than others you would sit him out? I mean even if he does play, it is not like it is going to hurt anybody, and WHO CARES! It is a 11 year old playing football. I think it is fine.

I believe that this is the most unfair thing I've ever heard. If NFL players weren't allowed to score more than 3 touchdowns, than no player could be ditinguished as being much better than any other player. In short, this is no more fair than telling students that they couldn't get more than 3 A's a semester.

We both think that this is a handicap that is used to give other players an unfair advantage at football. We are both 11, just like this player and play many sports. If we weren't allowed to score more than 3 points than we woudn't excell in any sport that we do. Plus, everyone else would probably do better than we would with the handicap.

I very strongly dislike this rule against the 11 year old boy. I am on a competitive swim team, and if they only let me go to one meet per year just because i was better that everyone there, i would go find another team to swim on. It is so unfair, just cause your good the coach shouldn't put you out of the game. Here's what im saying, just because someone is good that they should be sat out. Then if they did that for every sport, then we would be living in a goofy world.

In my opinion, this rule should be abolished. If someone is good at a sport, that's all the more reason to let them play, not make them unable to play as much. Also, if someone was in the NFL and they wer the best, no one would tell them to go easy on the other teams. True, the two sitations aren't obviosly similar, but they both have the same concept. Also, though the other team might be slightly intimidated by Demias, that's just part of the game. More likely, his team would be intimidated by the interference of the principal on behalf of the other team. Which brings up yet another point. Since when do principals have anything to do in sports? If nothing else, at least they should have the gym coach administer the rule, not the top of the school. Whoever made this rule should be ashamed of themself.

I think that this new rule is really unfair to Demias. If a talent scout came to watch his football game, he might think, "Hey this kid has serious potential, but he's not scoring!" And then he might decide to draft someone else onto the NFL team, just because he's not scoring.
Plus, it's not exactly fair for only this one talented player to not be allowed to score more than 3 touchdowns. I mean, if every kid in the nation was only allowed to score 3 times, less people would be upset about the rule. Plus, saying that a football player cannot score more than 3 times is like saying that a student cannot get more than 3 A's per semester. I asked one of my friends who loves to watch football, if she would still watch if a player could not score more than 3 times and she said that it would be boring. So, no rule equals happy people!

i think that the new rule is unfair because if he got to make alot of touch downs his team would win. but he could let some of the other players try to make a touch down the rule is unfair maybe he wants to be like carson palmer and payton manning and if that kid can only score three touch downs than other kids should to because that is not fair because it is like saying that a student can only get three a's and if one of his fans came to watch him there probably say why is he not scoring and not want not to watch any more so i think it is not fair at all

    October 11, 2011 at 12:48 pm |
  594. Taylor

I think the new rule is horrible because I thought the purpose in a football game was to win. If thats your strongest weapon use it. Its like having a stick as a weapon but you dont use it. If Demias is that good, fans dont really care about the rule. They just want their team to win.... plain and simple. Put in your purception. Do you want your team to blow? I certainly dont want my team to. That middle school should be lucky. They have a talented student/football playler. I think Demias has potential to go pro. Go Demias!

I think the whole rule is out of line... If the kid is doing too good then the obvious thing to do would be substitute him out and give other kids a chance or just don't hand him the ball, plain and simple. There's no reason to make specific ruling for one child.

I think that just because he's good doesnt mean he should not be allowed to play. Alot of people are good. They just are. I think it might be ok to move him up to seventh grade football, or his team should play better teams.
