I think that the best way to honor our veterans is to, maybe, volunteer to help the veterans or simply see them, especially the ones that are ill. You could also donate to organizations that might help them, if possible. But I think that the best thing we could do, as kids, would be to simply take a moment to think about all that they've been through and the sacrafice they made for our country, whether they survived or not.

I think the best way of honoring our veterans is to take a day off to recognize our troops. On this day we can do things such as put flowers and flags on veterans graves or maybe just take a veteran's family flag cookies.

I think the best way to honor our vets is to remember those who have fought and those who have died in protecting our freedom.

More people could fly flags on their homes and we could have parades and festivals on the anniversery of the battle or war and we could build them more memorials from ALL the wars and hold public events in their honor.

The best way to honor veterans is to throw a party around the entire US. it is our pleasure that troops are fighting for our freedom. they deserve something for fighting for us GO USA

i think the best way is to make cards are show them by respecting them. And the best way is to say thank you personally if you can.

I think we should just salute and leave them alone because most soldiers dont want to remember what they saw or did.

There are many things we as americans should do to honor veterans. They are very important to helping our country survive. Without all of our brave veterans we would be in constant warfare with each other.

To celebrate veterans day we cam have a ceremony and maybe get school off to celebrate the true american heroes.

The veterans deserve the respect they get. They did so much for us and we should never forget that

I think the best way to honor veterans is not to forget them and their cause. Also we should not ask them to share their remarks about their service but, should let them tell us so we don't bring up unpleasent memories. Without them our country couldn't be were it is.

I think every school in the nation should take time out of thier day on veterans day to have a veterans day program. Right now, only elementary schools have them in my district. They need to see what these men and women go through every day to protect us.

A good way to honor veterans is to gather all of them and to dedicate a ceremony to the veterans saying thank you.

    November 8, 2010 at 8:26 pm |
  21. Peter

The best way to honor veterans is to treat them like normal people and with respect. Let them tell you, don't ask. Have them recognized. You remember the veterans just as we remember the fallen. In England Remembrance Sunday takes place on the nearest Sunday to the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month when two minute silence is held and everyone stops to remember the fallen in the World Wars. .

I think we could let go red, white, and blue balloons. We can also learn the history of the wars to see what some of the soldiers might have been through.

  23. Nandan

I think that the best way to honor Veterans is to commemorate all of there achievements that they have done so that they feel that they have helped America. Also, we should show a picture of all the benefits that they have done to make America what it is now.

Some people think that wars are fun, and they also think that if you win a battle, you will be a famous hero of your country. However, wars are the causes of human destruction, and veterans had kept themselves alive during the wars to fight for our country. So we need to respect them a lot and thank them for fighting for our country. If they weren't there, we could lose and that means a lot to the country.

I can't think of the perfect way to honor veterans, since they do so much for them. Maybe kids in school should each be assigned a vetran, and make them a card letting them know that they are thankful. It doesn't take long and let's the veteran know that they made a difference.

I think the best way to honor a veteran would be to listen their story and be thankful that they fought to defend our freedom.

We have to be grateful for these men and women who are fighting around the globe to make sure that the United States remains a great country to live in.

we should honor our vets because if it were'nt for them our whole country would be at war

There are a lot of ways to honor veterans, but the most effective and simple way in my opinion is just giving a few minutes of silence with your family or friends. There is so much that we need to be thankful for and appreciate, but in our busy schedule, we don't usually have the time to take a time out.

when you honor a veteran you must pay him in a way that i cant explain since he/she has dedicated their life to saving our country even giving them one million dollars and a mansion its still not enough

    November 8, 2010 at 9:55 pm |

I think the best way to honor America's veterans is to actually thank one yourself in person or over email or better yet in real life.

I think we should not stop doing veterans day program but i do think we should have a donating thing where like every student brings a dollar and the money goes to homeless veterans all around america for shelter food and clothes.

  33. storm

I think the best way to honor them is to take an hour and talk about all the veterans and how they had an impact on the world no matter where they were stationed at.

    November 8, 2010 at 10:37 pm |
  34. Rahul

I think the best way to honor veterans is by money. Some veterans came into the army desperate for college funds. For risking their life in hostile countries, all veterans deserve the money needed. Even veterans that don't require college funds should be paid for their dedication to safety in the U.S.

    November 8, 2010 at 10:46 pm |
  35. Joanna

I think they need a picture of everyone who appreciates them. Just so they can get an idea of how many people truely appreciate them. Or a big parade!

    November 8, 2010 at 10:58 pm |
  36. Skye

It's hard to tell, but veterans are all around us.
There must be ways for us to help them transition back to normal society.
(Haven't you all seen someone on the streets claiming to be a veteran in need to shelter and food. It's sad really how these things are happening...)
They served for the country, and we need to support them in return.
Say thank you. Salute them. Shake hands. Volunteer at senior centers and talk to these people. Many of these honorable men and women no longer have family that can (or, to be blunt, bother) to visit.

    November 8, 2010 at 11:12 pm |

I think the best way to honor America's Veterans are for their stories told, to be treated honorably and to be thanked for helping us (The People) to stay free.

veterans day is an awesome day!
those husbands grandfathers brothers uncles moms...etc. are out there fighting for us, so on Vet. day think of a family/friend member that is there or was and thank!

I think veterans should get a full expenses paid family vacation. It would help them forget some of the things they did in Iraq or Iran.

    November 9, 2010 at 12:42 am |
  41. Ronald

There are many ways we can honor our nations veterans on this great and sometimes forgotten day. The best way to honor is simply being around them and sharing conversations with them along with thanking them in a special way. My school offers a little ceremony in which a luncheon for veterans is provided and then the entire school, along with the band playing patriotic music, comes to the gym and thanks the many veterans in attendance along with the rest of the country's.

    November 9, 2010 at 12:53 am |

I think that the best way to honor the veterans is to give them a nice vacation so that they can relax a bit.

I think the BEST way you can honor veterans, especially local veterans, is by putting an American flag outside your house or apartment, wearing Red White and Blue, and going to a local Veterans Day parade.

  44. Amanda

I think it's important to honor vetreans on veterans day. they risked their lives and dropped everything to go fight for our counrty. I think everyone in the USA should take a minutue and pray for thoose who served for us.

    November 9, 2010 at 8:21 am |
  45. Trent

The best way that we could honor veterans is to increase the pay that military personal recieve. I mean think about it, soldiers do the hardest work in the world, work that could result in thier own death and yet many of them return from service struggling to find a job and make ends meet. Our veterans have taken care of the whole nation so why can't the whole nation take better care of them?

    November 9, 2010 at 8:25 am |
  46. Amanda

I think we should get the day off of school on veterans day period.

    November 9, 2010 at 8:27 am |
  47. Landon

Personally I think the best way to honor veterans is to thank them for their contributions to our country and just show that you appreciate what they did. Doing so would just show that people care about what you did and think that you had an impact. Whenever I see a veteran or soldier I thank them and tell them that what they are doing is making a difference. That would make me happy inside so I would tell it to others to make them feel good about what they've done.

    November 9, 2010 at 8:39 am |
  48. Jason

Some of the best ways to honor our veterans is our time. By visiting and spending time with them shows that we care about them.

    November 9, 2010 at 8:59 am |
  49. Isaac

I would walk up to them and say "Thank you"

    November 9, 2010 at 9:08 am |

We should set up flags, have parades, even give donations to those who risk or have risked their lives for us.

    November 9, 2010 at 9:12 am |
  51. Raegan

I think the best way to honor america's veterans would be to just show them in everyday life how much we really care about them. Because money, presents, and rewards won't honor them it will bribe them. We need to tell them and show them in everyday life that we care about them.

    November 9, 2010 at 9:15 am |
  52. Victor

Honoring them with a banquet, filled with music from their time and patriotic decorations.

We should give all Vets a BIG hug and thank them for serving our country.

    November 9, 2010 at 9:23 am |

We should make cards and attach a flower to let Veterans know how much we appreciate them.

    November 9, 2010 at 9:24 am |
  56. Anna

I think we can honor our veternans by sending them things while they're in war, and giving them a time to rest with their families once they get home.

    November 9, 2010 at 9:29 am |
  57. Jake

I think we honor our veterans by sending them cards from or even pictures from their family and friends.

We should respect and pray for our veterans.

    November 9, 2010 at 9:30 am |
  59. Aaron

The best way to honor them is to do a parade for their bravery and also send them some stuff like clothe and food so that they feel that we really appreciate what they do for our state.

    November 9, 2010 at 9:31 am |
  60. Kaylee

A good way to help honor our veterans, is by maybe thinking of them and make signs or something to say like 'were praying for you' or 'Thank you for serving our country'. You know something that makes them feel like they are important to us. There are many people out there who don't see their family for years, and yet, their hopes are still up. I know someone who died a few years ago, by a road side bomb. It's scary to think that they're sacrificing their lifes for us.

    November 9, 2010 at 9:31 am |
  61. Rachel

I think the best way to honor a veteran is to take them to the places that he or she had only been to before the war.You could take them to the movies, out to eat, or even to a old friends house they might have forgot.

    November 9, 2010 at 9:31 am |

i think one way to honor verterns write to some of them in your community and tell how much we aprecite what they did for for our country

My best friend is going to the srvice this week, which i think is a great way to honor them.

I think the best way to honor our veterens is to have a randomly huge party and have the kids not have school for a couple of days, then we can be with the people we know that are in this cause. 😄

    November 9, 2010 at 9:48 am |
  65. Annie

I think the best way to honor them is to just let them know how much you apppriciate them and what they did.

    November 9, 2010 at 9:50 am |
  66. Caroline

I think we should all be able to not have work, school, or anything else so that people can be with the people they know whom are apart of this. 😀

    November 9, 2010 at 9:50 am |
  67. Caroline

During the day we should pause in our daily schedule and have a moment of silence to honor the people that have gone through this. 🙂

    November 9, 2010 at 9:53 am |
  68. Koa

I feel that the best way to honor America's veterans is to give them as much attention, both medically and physically, that they need. Many of the veterans that come home have had traumatic injuries, both physically and mentally, and need help. It is only right to give them this care, since they've helped keep America safe!

    November 9, 2010 at 9:53 am |
  69. Caroline

Everyone during veterens day should have no school, but should have to do something for veterens, or something that would help out the world a little, so they are spending their day helping and honoring the veterens.

    November 9, 2010 at 9:54 am |
  70. Caroline

People should be off of school and have a moment of silence to honor the people of veterens day. People whom have been through this deserve to be honored in some way, and in one small way we can honor the people in it by showing them some sort of respect. 🙂

    November 9, 2010 at 9:57 am |

Be sure to thank a veteran
Respect them, appreciate them, remember them
Make sure they have the medical supplies they need

Throwing them a party with who they served with. It would give them a chance to get back in touch with each other.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:09 am |
  73. Rebecca

I think we could show them our love by writing them a letter telling them how much we think of them.We could ask our head of school to have some veterans and tell them how much we think about them. Also how much we are thankful for fighting for us.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:11 am |
  74. Alyssa

To take the day off and the day before in school take a min and thank them

    November 9, 2010 at 10:12 am |

I think a way by honoring the veterans is by making a big cake and throw a party.

I think the best way to honor veterans is to meet them in person and congratulate them and tell them how much we want them to fight for us.
    Go Veterans!

    November 9, 2010 at 10:12 am |
  77. Jeffrey

I think we should honner the people is to met them in person and write a letter to them. Also make the army happy that you celebrated there special day.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:13 am |
  78. Shannanay

The best way to honor our veterans is to form a big huge dinner or breakfast. We could also have them say a little speech to all of the veterans at the dinner or breakfast.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:14 am |
  79. Austin

First off start with something simple. Don't complain about the war. Respect the veterans who have fought and died for our country. They laid down their lives for our freedom, respect is the least we can do for them.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:24 am |
  80. Greg

we should be honering them by saying hi, saluting, telling them thank You for protecting us, and just respect the ones who are still with us and the ones who lost there lives protecting us.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:26 am |
  81. Melinda

I think that there should be a big parade that all the soldiers come to in their uniforms, and get all of them to be in it. I think that maybe some of them do not feel like they were cheered for, well now all of us can cheer for them now.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:26 am |
  82. Jeremy

To honor the veterans it would be a good idea to host parades in honor of the fallen, those who are serving, and those that are home and safe.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:27 am |
  83. Kito

I think that one of the best ways to honor them would be to put money into helping them after they get back from the war. Help them find houses, a job they can do, animals to help them out. Help make their lives easier. That is what they do for us when they are at war, so that is the least we can do to for them when they get back.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:27 am |
  84. Bryant

I think that people should dress up in their Sunday best to show respect for all of the veterans that served our country. We have an assembly during school where veterans come and give a ceremony for the people who died in war. the whole day should be respectful and everyone should have a good feeling the whole day.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:28 am |
  85. Aubree

    Just say thank you.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:28 am |
  86. Janalee

I think that the best way to honor America's veterans is to let them know how much we appreciate them. Everything that they have done, no matter if you agree with the wars, the brave men and women who fought for us deserve our respect.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:28 am |
  87. Jason

Everyone should do something in their community to honor veterans. It doesn't have to be something big maybe just an assembly in a school or just honoring veterans. Any way possible to honor them will be good there are no bad ideas as long as it is a good thought.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:29 am |
  88. zack

they why we should honor our veterans. make food for the veterans and have a fun day to help them forget about there time in the war. i think they need all the love in the world. i wish i could just let them know we care about what they done.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:29 am |
  89. Hans

I think it is important to always remember our veterans. We need to remember that they do so much for us. We need to remember the prices they paid and are still paying so that we can live in safety.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:29 am |
  90. Stacey

Ways I think we can honor our veterans are to go and visit them and tell them how much you appreciate them. Like a few years ago on veterans day we visited all of the ones in our neighborhood and some really cool stories.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:29 am |
  91. Krystal

I think the best way to honor our veterans is to respect all the men and women that fought for us.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:29 am |
  92. Dalton

I think the best way to honor our vetrans is to let school out on vetrans day. We shouldn't go to school on a day of honoring our armed forces.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:31 am |
  93. Kurt

There are many ways that we could honor the wonderful service that has been provided by our incredible veterans. Some of these include putting up flags, reciting the pledge of allegiance, and taking a moment of silence.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:31 am |
  94. McKell

Veterans should receive more recognition than they do, particularly in our public schools. Everyone should dress in their best dressed and a moment of silence should be offered to remember all those who have served their country during a school-wide assembly honoring them.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:31 am |
  95. James

I think we should give them the health care they need! My grandpa fought in the Vietnam war, and he suffers from Post traumatic stress disorder. And I feel he and other veterans don't get the health care they need to deal with problems from wars they served in whether it's physical or mental. That's how I feel we could honor them, is by serving them just like they served us.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:32 am |
  96. zack

the way we should honor our veterans is make food for the veterans and have a fun day to help them forget about there time in the war. i think they need all the love in the world. i wish i could just let them know we care about what they done.

Treat them like it is their birthday and go do something they love!

    November 9, 2010 at 10:33 am |
  98. Andrew

I think one thing we could do is have a moment of silence, then have a 21 gun salute for all of those that have served in the armed forces over all the years.

R.E.S.P.E.C.T R[responsibility] E[encouragement] S[sestitivity] P[protection] E[empathy] C[courage] T[tremendous]... These are all characteristics of the brave men and women who have faught to keep our country safe. The least we can do is respect them.

You can help by raising a fun raiser for them. You also can right letters and see what they say back. You can wish them a happy veterans day.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:41 am |
  101. Alex

I think we should throw a big party for them.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:42 am |
  102. Angel

i dont know maybe just through a parade its just a day we have many of them every day just a parade or a party will do just fine.

    November 9, 2010 at 10:42 am |
  103. kaleb

I believe we should honor all veterans whether they fought in anything from world war two or vietnam or even modern day afghanistan. All that matters is that they served there country.

Honoring our Veterans is an important topic for our class. We feel that we can honor our Veterans through writing letters, visiting the memorial wall, sending packages, and praying for our beloved bretheren.

you should go to a veteran you know and talk to them about there out take on war war and you should thank them for fighting for your country.

i think that we should honor them by having a day for them on where they can shop for free and maybe have a parade in there honor

I think the best way to honor our veterans is to give them a ceremony in honor of all of them.(:

The best way to honor Veterans Day is to call someone you know who is serving or who has served and thank them. Maybe have a little moment of silence with your friends or family or co-workers.

    November 9, 2010 at 12:45 pm |
  112. Rachel

I think the best way to honor Veterans would be to spend time out of your day on November 11th with a veteran. You should let them know how grateful you are and just talk to them about their experiences. If you don’t have time to spend with them, at least make time to call them and let them know thanks.

    November 9, 2010 at 12:46 pm |

I believe that the best way for anyone to honor and thank our veterans is to personally talk to them and talk to others about their heroic deeds.

  114. Tiffany

I think the best way to honor our veterans is to spend time with those that you love and spend time with the ones in your family that you know have served. People should really get a better understanding of what veterans day really means to families and others besides just another school day off.

I think all television shows should have a tribute before the show begins. Thanking all of the veterans for everything they have done and let them know we appreciate it.

  116. stephanie

i believe the best way to honor our veterans is to just say thank you. i think thats all there is to be said because they know what they have done to help and we know what they have gone through to help us. Also I think that if you have a family member you should talk to them about it because I know my grandpa loves to tell me stories about what it was like in the war.

    November 9, 2010 at 12:47 pm |
  117. Drew

I think the best way to honor veterans is to just show them thanks because it takes a lot of courage and bravery to serve in the military. Every man and women deserves respect for what it is they did, and are doing. A simple thank you is all it takes, and that for me is the least any person can do to honor a veteran.

    November 9, 2010 at 12:47 pm |
  118. JOsh

I think the way we recognize the Veterans is the best possible, because all schools have assemblies to thank the veterans. Also allot of them would have moments of silence.

    November 9, 2010 at 12:48 pm |
  119. Shayna

Since I have recently started dating someone who is an active member in the army, I take veterans’ day more seriously than I ever had. Most veterans wouldn’t want anything too big. They serve our country because they want to not because they have to. I personally think that best way to honor a veteran is spending the day with them. Just showing them that you care, and that you appreciate what they have done for you is all they need. For all the veterans around the world, the best way is to have them in your thoughts all day!

I think the best way to honor veterans is to have that day off of school. So you can think about all the sacrifices that they have made for you. I believe that the assembly will make a lot of people think about the veterans and what they have strived for for this country

    November 9, 2010 at 12:48 pm |

I think the best way to honor America’s veterans is to call the veterans you know on veterans’ day to let them know you’re thinking about them.

I think the best way to honor them is to call them up and thank them. Also at your school you can have an assembly like at my school. We have a keystone speaker and we give veterans certificates and at the end they say the different types of Military and if you know someone that serves or had served you stand up.

    November 9, 2010 at 12:49 pm |

I believe that veterans should spend some time with thier friends and families. If i was a veteran, I would do the same thing by having a welcome home party.

The best way to honor Americas veterans is, feed them. More people eat food for comfort or pleasure more than for survival. What way better to honor them then to give them comfort and pleasure right? Maybe make them turkey or something.

    November 9, 2010 at 12:49 pm |
  126. Marissa

The best way to honor a veteran is by showing them that you appreciate what they’ve done for our country. You show them that you’re thankful and that you really recognize what they did to assure that our country was save from any dangers. Just thank a veteran. Show them you’re appreciative of their service to you and our country. Thank a veteran. Whether they’re still in active service or they’re retired. It’ll make them feel great about what they did or are still doing to this day.

    November 9, 2010 at 12:49 pm |
  127. christopher

In my opinion, I don’t think that there isn’t a best way to pay tribute to our veterans. I think that any way you decide to pay tribute to the men and woman in service and retired from is a great way. No matter how you decide you want to pay your respects. I am sure the men and woman who have serve/served our country will be happy that their duties have gone unnoticed.

I have two really good friends that serve in the Marines so I am taking it more serious that I usually would. I am very thankful for them and what they have accomplished. My dad is a former M.P. (military police) and his father, my grandpa was in the Army and I am very thankful for them as well. So I think that the best way to honor our veterans is by thanking them and letting them know that we, as American citizens care about them and think about them. I think that taking a day off of school and sometimes work is a great way to honor them because it is showing them that as a country we care about them and love and thank them on that day.

    November 9, 2010 at 12:51 pm |
  129. Monica

I think that veterans deserve the greatest honor and respect; they serve our country and fight for their people. I think that an assembly during school is a way to show their honor, because it is showing the younger generations what these people went through. Also if you know anyone such as a friend or family you should spend the day with them and show them how grateful you are.

    November 9, 2010 at 12:52 pm |
  130. Danielle

I believe honoring the veterans is something that everyone should want to do. Veterans we need to understand that they have fought for our freedom, and we need to realize the impact they have on our country because without them, who knows where we would be. I think everyone should thank each and every person they know who is/has served in the military.

    November 9, 2010 at 12:52 pm |
  131. wilhelm

I think having my mum being in the army for six years, that all veterans should get a day or two off. My mom does not get a day off and i think thats disrespectful to the people that fought for america

    November 9, 2010 at 12:55 pm |
  132. Shelby

I think the best way to honor our veterans is to remind them that they are still important and that are loved by this county. Personally this veterans day I am going to honor my granpa, who is a veteran, by writting him a note and buying him his favorite candy. Last but not least my favorite way of honoring those who fought in the many wars is to pray for the ones fighting and the ones that are home dealing with post war trauma.

A way to honor America's veterans is to hold a "Red, White and Blue" dress down day in the school. Each person can donate a dollar to honor anyone who has served in this country.

  134. Ford

I think we should honor our war veterans by celebrating Veterans Day more, not by just putting a little American flag in your yard.

    November 9, 2010 at 1:26 pm |
  135. Jack

I think we should appreciate veterans by volunteering time every day to the U.S. Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, and other Military Units. We could help train our troops; and, say, if your profession was cutting grass, you could help keep the grass trimmed at an Air Force Base, or any other military base. Our country is blessed for our troops, and we need to act like it! Thank you for your service!

    November 9, 2010 at 1:30 pm |
  136. Remington

We should volunteer hours of community service. Since they make changes for us to have a better life, we could at least make a difference in others lives. Also, raising money for troops couldn't hurt. Supporting our troops is really helpful.

We think veterans should be honored in the following ways:

    Thank you cards
    Draw pictures for them
    Send them their favorite foods
    Send them flowers
    Send them chocolates
Give them a Shout Out during a Student News Segment!

    Thanks!

Our troops would enjoy it if they get recognized by us. We could do service hours, make cards, send videos and more! If your lucky, they even might respond! That would make you and the troop really good.:)

Well, honestly I think the best way, is to think about some of the most honorable moments that veterans had to go through, and they sacrificed their life for us. We should pray for them, and ask our family members, if they know any sotries, that happened to the veterans!

I think the best way to honor veterans day is to have an award ceromony for them. There could be a national award show and local award ceromony to award the veterans for all there hard work.

I believe that our veterans are honored and appreciated every day. But on veterans day I believe that in Washington D.C. there should be a parade right down Pennsylvania Avenue and our President of the United States should sing the Star Spangled Banner.

I think that the best way to help or honor our veterans would be a thank you. The best way to thank them would be to have a world wide public service announcement on TV at one time so that everybody could see it. Having a moment of silence is a good way too. Waling up to a veteran and saying thank you for your service in your community is a good way, they really feel important then.

    November 9, 2010 at 4:00 pm |

I think the best way to honor veterans is just a simple phone call or a card to let them know that you appreciate all that they do for our country and what they sacrifice for our freedom.

I think our Veteran's should be honored for all the sacrifices they made. Maybe every city could hold ceremonies for all of the veterans? It would take a lot of planning, but aren't they worth it? The gave all they had, so why can't we?

I think the best way to honor veterans is to just spend time with them. You could write a card or say thank you, but actually sitting down, and having a conversation about why they are a hero and veteran will probably be what they like the best. Talking to them is more personal, a card you could make for anyone.

The best way to honor veterans is to thank them for all they have done. They all wish someone would thank them for what they have done for our country. They at least deserve that. Just give one of your relatives a call that were a veteran to let them know your thinking of them.

    November 9, 2010 at 4:04 pm |

I think the veterans deserve a big round of applause for all they have done for us. I believe that all schools should write letters to the veterans and have them maild to them giving thatnks foe all they have done and the veterans could respond if they wanted to. This would help everyone understand and be thanked for all they have done for us.

I think the best way to honor veterans is by letting them know they are a big part to our freedom and that we are thankful for everything they have done. Veterans should be put at the top of the list everyday not only the one day we can take off to support them.
They put their life’s out in the open to get killed and all we think about it what we want to buy today and waste our time doing.

I think the best way to honor America’s veterans is by simply thanking them for their services to this country. If you see or know a veteran thank them for serving our country and make them feel special on veteran’s day.

I think the best way to honor veterans is not only to have a holiday just for them. I mean it is a great idea but what about the people fighting for our freedom right now. I think that we should send them things so they know that they are appreciated as well. They are out there risking their lives for us and I think that they should know that they are appreciated, even if it is just a letter. But for the ones that have died for our freedom I think that we should give them a moment of silence on Veterans day.

The best way to honor a veteran who is a family member is to tell them that you understand what they did for our country and thank them for it. Spend time with this person cause that can mean the world to someone who is older. Maybe even go ahead and watch Pearl Harbor or play Call of Duty with them.

We should honor veterans by taking all of them out for a nice seafood dinner with a nice piece of cheesecake at the end! Then give them a handshake or high five when known of there duty and applaud them for their service. We appreciate veterans!

  171. Roger

I think that the best way to honor our veterans is not just with a holiday but to give them special gifts. Maybe even have people wear our flags colors on Veteran's Day. They should also have a presidential ceremony to honor and show respect to all these brave humans for fighting for us.

    November 9, 2010 at 4:07 pm |
  172. jay

we should have a donating thing where like every student and the money goes to homeless veterans all around america for shelter food and clothes and things like that.

    November 9, 2010 at 4:07 pm |
  173. Dalton

I think the best way to honor a veteran is to thank them for the time they served to give us American’s our freedom. Their service to America is the reason I am able to go to school and write this response right now and later go to work and then go home to my nice cozy bed. For this, I thank our veterans! I also think that saying thank you is nice, so long as we aren’t re-telling the events of which we are thanking these people. They have been through a lot and they have seen people die, people whom they may have been close to, so thanking our veterans for their service is the simplest touch and nicest thing we could do to show our appreciation.

    November 9, 2010 at 4:07 pm |
  174. Nick

Its good I would say to have assemblies because that recognizes them and makes them feel good but it also brings back some bad memories from war so we should find something for them to do that will get there mind off of the war and those horrific scenes they have seen. Such as playing with dolphins that is something they will enjoy I would think.

Some good ways to honor veterans is to appriciate what they do and have done for our country. I can remamber one time i was at a resturaunt and there was a man in there that had his uniform on and my mom actually paid for his and his families dinner. I thought WOW that is amazing. That is a very good way to honor veterans and servicemen/women. I am not saying that every time you see someone in a resturaunt you have to pay for them but i just really thought that was very kind. But you can also pray for them and their families. My best friend's brother in in the marines and people all over the place are giving that family gifts, cards, paying for things, ect. Any kind act you can think of is probably a way you can honor veterans and or servicemen/women.

I think that a good way to honor all the veterans is to respect them and give them a parade. Also if it is a family member who is a veteran you could honor them by giving them a big hug and telling them you love them and that what they did for their country was great and very risky. Bye! 😛 😀 ❤

You should if you see a man or woman in uniform shake their hand and tell them thank you for serving The United States of America. I would also let them know we all suport the oath "I, _____, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. It is almost too hard to repay a veteran, they have done so much already! But we can honor then a lot! One way we could honor them by getting everyone to send them an appreciative card, or even just say thank you to a family member who has served. If we do, we could make them feel like they have done a wonderful job! Remember even a little can count!

Veterans should be remembered and appreciated therefore i think that all veterans deserve to make sure that they are taken care of financially because they usually don't make that much money to begin with.

I think a good way to honor our Veterans is to have a parade Type of organization and just let them know how much they mean to us and their Duty to serve for this country we have today. Having Freedom is a fine price to pay and it is one of the things that makes our country a Free one. They took a risk and risked their lives to let us know that we can have what other Countries don't and we are very Fortunate to have this!

I think a good way to honor someone that is a veteran in your family or a family friend would be to throw a party for them and make them the center of attention. I would hope they would forget all the bad things that happened when they were in the army.

I think that one of the best ways to show Americas verterans that we care about them and are very appreciative of what they have done is to help them with whatever we can, especialy building up some good memories of happy things to help them get through life a little bit better.I also think we should give them lots of respect not just on verterans day but anytime we get the chance because their service has helped save many lifes and you can never say thanks enough.

The best way to honor veterans I think is just by getting together with one that you know and spending the day with them. Make them have fun and forget about the horrible things they have been through for at least one day.

The best way to honor our veterans would be to dedicate at least one hour of veterans day to a nationwide memorial service in honor of those who died in service of our country and those still in service.

  214. Jefe

I think the best way to honor a Vet is just as simple as spending time with them. A big brother/big sister event would be quiet beneficial to many people. War Veterans have many stories and great lessons to share.

    November 9, 2010 at 4:54 pm |
  215. Nathan

I would honor a veteran in any way possible. Veterans served and sacrificed for the freedom of all of us in their lives, so that would be the least I could do. I would try to just thank them for all their time and hard work they have given us. They’ve impacted everyone’s lives more than we really know so giving thanks is something that all of us should do.

    November 9, 2010 at 4:54 pm |
  216. Kelsey

I think the best way to honor veterans of war is to remember them all. It’s good to talk to a friend or family member who was in a war, but I think all of them, no matter who or where they are, deserve recognition of some sort.

    November 9, 2010 at 4:55 pm |
  217. kyle

I think the best way to honor veterans is to build a memorial in a place where there is not one already and to take a day off to thank the ones who have served for our country. I feel that one can never thank a war veteran enough for what they have done for our country.

    November 9, 2010 at 4:55 pm |
  218. Dylan

I think the best way to honor Veterans is every town should make a memorial, and put it in a place where it is well seen. And the memorial should only be a memorial to the people who served, from that town.

The best way to honor Americas veterans is to find some if you don’t already know some and spend some time with them doing whatever they would like and let them know how much you appreciate their time served and how it makes all of our lives better overall.

    November 9, 2010 at 4:56 pm |

There are a lot of ways to honor American Veterans, but I think the easiest. Also makes Veterans feel good for what there doing is just going up to one and saying thank you for serving our country.

I think the best way to honor American Veterans is to help someone who got hurt...It shows them that you care about them. My grandpa was in the war and he is still strong like he was back in the war.

    November 9, 2010 at 4:56 pm |
  224. Holly

I think having assemblies and speeches like we had today at our school is a good way to honor them. Hearing their stories and kind of being there for them in a way, to hear what they have to say and share their experience I feel is a good way too. Shaking a veterans hand and thanking them I feel would be honorable as well.

    November 9, 2010 at 4:57 pm |
  225. Sarah

I would honor a veteran by thanking them face to face. It would be more meaningful rather than a party or a letter. It would show more heart and thankfulness for their services. I think they would really appreciate it and it would show what they did mattered and counted and at least somebody cared.

The best way to honer a vet is by not asking them what they did in the army, in my experience 3out of every 4 vets I asked that question freeked out on me. So just thank them, make them dinner, then leave them alone.

To honor an American Veteran the first thing I would do is learn about the war that they fought in. How can you thank them for what they did if you have no clue what they did? Try and understand what they went through and understand what they went through for us.

    November 9, 2010 at 5:00 pm |
  233. Nicah

I think all the veterans should have some kind of special badge or medal from this year that shows what they have done for our country.

carl i think the best way to honor a vetrian is to put there names on a big statue and put it in what ever city or state they live in. so in other words make a individual statue for each of the men. Or if there are men in the same city or state then i would put all the peoples names on one statue.

I think the people should dress up in military outfits then say WE SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! We should also should someday ask them what it's like to be in the military. WE SHALL PLACE OUR TRUST IN THE ALMIGHTY GOD

I tink the best way to honor them is just to take a moment of silence for them and tell them a simple thank you for all they do for us. We could be assigned a veteren and just write them a short note telling them how much you appreciate all they have done for us to keep us safe and free.

    November 9, 2010 at 5:43 pm |
  251. Allison

I think the best way to honor the veterans is to accept and appriciate what they have done for us and out country. We could have drives for the veterans and their families for all they have for us but that also could bring back the horrible memories of the war so maybe we could make a program that will make them just forget about the war and make their life enjoyable like playing with dolphins.

    November 9, 2010 at 5:45 pm |

Our school is helping our local Veterans Hospital by donating mens socks. They need socks, so we are having a "Sock Hop," and the entrance fee for the dance is at least one pair of mens socks.

    November 9, 2010 at 5:45 pm |
  253. Trae

I think in order to honor the veterans we should just show them how much our country means to us. That is what they got to be a veteran for, fighting for our country and we just need to show we appreciate their service.

    November 9, 2010 at 5:46 pm |
  254. Maura

We can honor our amazing Veterans everyday, I always keep them in my mind everyday as a simple little reminder of what people go through. Also, whenever I see a veteran I personally thank them because I know that not everyone takes the time to say something as simple as, "Thank You." GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

    November 9, 2010 at 5:47 pm |
  255. Keely

Veterans serve our country everyday, not just on Veteran's day. When you walk past somebody in uniform or in a T-shirt, just stop and say thank you. And say thanks to their family too, because they too have to put up with stressing schedules and working havocs

    November 9, 2010 at 5:58 pm |
  256. - Aaron

Veterans are very important to us all. They risk there lives so we can have freedom. That's amazing, and I feel that we should honor them in any way possible. My School's Army Batallion is doing something called "Flags for Vet's", where they buy Flags an put it on the Vet's graves. They also attend our county Veteran's Parade. We can always have a moment of silence for all of our vets and keep them in our prayers!

I think that the best way to honor a veteran is to Spend time with them and let them know that you appreciate them! You should take them to their favorite places to eat ,or just have a friendly conversation with them-the BEST way to feel comfortable is to talk about yourself!

    November 9, 2010 at 6:12 pm |

I think we should dedicate a parade float to them, organize organizeations for them, and maybe skype them if possible:)!!! I personally know what it is like having a family member over seas and i would do anything in the world to honor them:):):):)

    November 9, 2010 at 6:16 pm |
  259. Marissa

All of the parades and celebrations are nice, but I think we should help provide for veterans. They fought so we can have a good life, so we should support charities that help veterans and also our servicemen and women overseas. Also, just being respectful. If you see a man or woman in uniform, try and thank them for their service. That will certainly make their day!

    November 9, 2010 at 6:23 pm |
  260. Nico

Be respectful, treat the veterans with respect and politeness just like you should treat any other person. Don't make a huge deal out of it because it just reminds them of the horrific things they've encountered, instead just be friendly and make their day with small act of kindness and respect.

    November 9, 2010 at 6:24 pm |

I think we should honor them in a way that they did to us for fighting for our countries and our nation to help the way we all live and they put their own lives on stake just for us! 😀 ☼

I think it would be cool if local areas had a 'party' for all the veterans in the area and we could honor them.
But simply, if you saw them in an army suit, just say Thank You. that will surely brighten their day.

    November 9, 2010 at 7:00 pm |
  272. Jordan

I beleive the best way to honor our veternans is to take time to honor families of veternans or veternans themselves in your own special way. This can include making a card, calling them, visiting, and ect.

  273. Abbi

I think there should be great celebrations for veterans. They risked their lives and we should give them credit for that! Also, some veterans (such as the homeless) need help. We need parades, parties, awards, etc....anything to say "Thanks!" to veterans everywhere!

Since Veterens help our freedom i think we sould give them freedom like a good vacation and if they are disabled give them therapy. My grandfather was a marin then became a police officer and hurt his ankle and now he goes to the VA and every time we walk through the halls a person stops to say thank you

    November 9, 2010 at 9:05 pm |

I think the best way we can show our support is by giving back to them. they have fought for us, so we should fight for them. I think it is important that they get the care they need, and we should supply that.

I think there should be a Veterans school day where we try to teach them. I think we should take them outside let them do art projects and do everything a normal student would do.

In social studies class we are doing a project to honor a veteran. My group is doing an iMovie, ans putting it on the school news! It is a very meaningful and respectful, it does not matter what you do as long as you honor them, it usually means a lot to them.

A way to honor veterans is to pray, and feel for them. You could try to raise money too.

    November 10, 2010 at 7:58 am |

I think that we should honor veterans with more loyalty due to the seen they probably seen during war protecting us.

You could make a big poster and have the people that are Veterans or have Veteran in their family. Then display it in a public place.

    November 10, 2010 at 7:58 am |
  305. Matt

I think the best way to honor our veterans is to make a page on Facebook to honor those veterans.

    November 10, 2010 at 7:58 am |

I think you need to just make a video honoring some of the veterans. Something that honors all of the branches and veterans.

A way to honor veterans is to send things to an organization. I think thats a great idea.

I think we should give them food and blankets and money to the homeless veterans. They don't deserve to be homeless.

The way you can thank the Veteran is to Raise money for the purple homes.

We should Volunteer and help veterans. They helped us win wars and they fought for our country. Since they fought and helped our country. My Grampa was in the war and I would like to honor him along with every other veterans.

At my school we are doing projects to honor our veterans. We got placed into groups and we we're assigned to make something or do something to honor our veterans. Some people are selling stuff to donate the money purple heart homes in Cornelius North Carolina, My group did a imovie we are trying to post it on the website.

    November 10, 2010 at 8:00 am |

The best way to honor our veterans would be to make donations to charities like the purple heart veteran charity and many others because there are a lot of vets in the world that homeless that kneed money to pick back up where they started in the beginning.

At my school in my social studies class we had an assignment. Are assignment was to come up with a way to honor the veterans. My class and another class were merged and divided. My group got to brain-storming and figured out and idea. Are idea was to make "In honor of" flags and we would sell them for .50 each. And we would donate the money to The Purple Heart Homes in Cornelius, NC. It's are second day selling and we have already raised over $50. 🙂

    November 10, 2010 at 8:05 am |

I think is the best way to honor the veterans is by making the US flag with little squares and write their name, when they were born and when they die and in what they serve.

I think the best way to honor the vet's is to support the troops. Were red white and blue, and if you see them in the store... thank them! They are fighting for our country so that I can be typing this right now.

    Happy birthday USMC.

when you are in school there is a war going on out there in afganistan and iraq. so when you see a veteran or a soldier just stop and say thank you for your service, and protecting our country.

  328. Maria

It's important to honor veterans. They fought courageously and viciously for the country they loved, despite the negative effects of serving in wars. Veterans deserve to be respected and honored every day, but especially on Veteran's Day.

    November 10, 2010 at 10:56 am |
  329. Whitnie

I think we should try anything we can to support the veterans. For those of us who don't know any veterans, all we can do is dress up and have flags out to show our support. I think that they would be happy if we serve others, by serving others its showing that we really do care what they have done for us and are very grateful for everything.

    November 10, 2010 at 10:57 am |
  330. Brayden

I think that we need to pay more attention to the soldiers that started this country and the ones who are fighting as we speak that gave their lives to make us free on to have what we have today by reconizing them in our schools, community, state and country.

what i think the best way for us to honor our veterans. would be a video about all the wars America has been in, and what the living conditions where like for the solider during that war.

    November 10, 2010 at 11:00 am |
  334. Ashlynn

We should honor the Veterans for their sacrifice by supporting them, and the country they stood for. Then maybe someday we will be the Veterans of our generation, and we may be honored for our heroic acts too.

    November 10, 2010 at 11:01 am |
  335. Jaketheman

It would also be fun to dress up like veterans and have a paintball war where every living person is included. It would kind of be like we were in combat, but not really. Mostly I just want everyone to wear costumes, that would be fun. and funny.

    November 10, 2010 at 11:02 am |

The best way to honor our veterans is to recognice them for all their hard fought battles and give them discounts at stores for all they have done. Even though those who are in a better place fought for what they thought was right, they will be remebered in the hearts of their relatives. Their actions are priceless.

For me, the best way to honor someone is to know someone. If we were to hear about the things these men and women do every day for us, we'd be more likely to appreciate the sacrifice.

    November 10, 2010 at 12:00 pm |
  341. Ethan

The best way to honor our Veterans is to have the local veterans come to your school or community center and show a presentation and talk to us about the importance of the wars that we fought and now fight. this is something that is important to the U.S. and we really have to remember the Veterans.

    November 10, 2010 at 12:01 pm |
  342. Rylee

I think that veterans need to know that we appreciate what they have done for us. We should take the time to listen to what they have to say, and ask questions about their service. They deserve our respect, we should do all that we can to make sure that they know that we awknowledge their service and that we are thankful for it.

    November 10, 2010 at 12:01 pm |
  343. Taylor

Any American citizen or one who receives the rights of a citizen should always be deeply grateful for what veterans have done for us. We should be respectful and give them a moment a silence, a way we can all say thank you to those who risked their lives for me and you.

    November 10, 2010 at 12:02 pm |
  344. Hannah

I think that one of the best ways that we can show our gratitude to the veterans who gave their time, their talents, and their lives for this country and for us, is to say thank you sincerely. Even something that small can make a big difference. If you really think about it, they gave more for their country than just about anybody else. If we can't even say thank you, what kind of people are we? Simple gratitude to those who gave us the freedoms that we have now is one of the greatest things that we can do.

    November 10, 2010 at 12:03 pm |
  345. Olya

I think we should honor them in a way that they did to us for fighting for our countries is to not go to school and work and respect the fact that they saved there life's for us.

  346. Shayne

The best way to honor our veterans and fallen heroes is to show our respect towards them, their family, our flag, and our nation. If everyone starts doing these little things it will go along way.

    November 10, 2010 at 12:05 pm |
  347. Joshua

Veterans are a very important part in our history and we need to honor them in a way that shows our full appreciation, because we can't even put into words how much they mean to us.

    November 10, 2010 at 12:07 pm |
  348. Jonathan

A veteran is just as much a human as everyone else; they just did something remarkable. Cookies are always safe.

    November 10, 2010 at 12:07 pm |
  349. Chelsie

I think that the best way to honor our veteran's is to learn about them. I think we should take a day just to learn about our history and soldiers. The more we know about them the more we will respect not only them, but also our soldiers today, and appreciate what they do for America.

We wear our best clothes to church each week as a sign of reverence and respect. I feel that by choosing to dress nicely as opposed to our casual t-shirts and jeans, we choose to show that we remember and honor our veterans and the price they pay for us.

    November 10, 2010 at 12:13 pm |
  351. Zoë

The best way to honor our veterans is to thank them in any way we can. Give them respect for all the hard work they did. The veterans have done so much for us, and for the benefit our country. It is our duty to thank them for everything they have done. To do this we should have flag ceremonies, assemblies, or a simple "Thank You" to them personally would be a great way to show our thanks and respect.

My dad is a vetran and the best way I honor him is by just taking the day off from school, spending time with him, and letting him know how much I really appreciate him. These people give their lives to keep us safe, and they need to know how thankful we really are that we are able to be free.

    November 10, 2010 at 12:40 pm |

Maybe a dinner could be held in every community or county, where the veterans could come and have a night dedicated to them. Everyone would come to eat with them, and thank them for the wonderful things they did to keep our nation safe and free.

    November 10, 2010 at 12:41 pm |

I think we should go to a big building and make a program like thing for them it will include snacks, games, dinner, and a band, and choir performance thing......we could sing or play America The Beautiful,or God Bless America,or Star Spangled Banner those are some honoring songs and thank you to all the soldiers and men who fought for our country......a presantation for them telling them thank you for fighting for my country and my freedon:)(:

I think every student should bring at least a dollar to school and put it in a jar and then all the money will go to the veterans. To encourage more students, we could say the class with the most money can have a pizza party.

    November 10, 2010 at 1:25 pm |

i think that veterans have done enough for their own country and for their people i think that they deserve such offering to show them how we appreciate their hard work ....

i think 6the best way to honor a veterin is to show them you care by saying hello, and thanking them for serving our country. most people just treat them like regular people but threre not. i think they should be treted like super stars i mean they do way more then famous actor or singer does.

At my school, we hold a big veteran’s day assembly where we invite a lot of veterans and sing patriotic songs and play patriotic tunes. We do as much as we can, then after the assembly, we invite them to the teachers lounge for coffee, juice, and just to hang out and relax.

    November 10, 2010 at 1:37 pm |

I think the best way of honnoring our veterans is to do what we are doing right now which is take a day off on stuff like work and school and just honor their hard work.

Well, i think that the Veterans should be honored in suck a cool and unused way we should think of a new way to honor the people that fought/fight for our country. We should have everyone go out and spend the day with someone who fought/fights in the war. That would mean so much to them.

    November 10, 2010 at 1:42 pm |

today we had a whole assembly for the veterens and we are honnoring them in what they have done for our contry im hoping every veteren is going to have a good veterens day and for anyone who is out there in the navy, military or anything else we thank you so much

There's a veteran from ww2 down my street, and he is getting harassed about his front year from the city. I don't think this is very fair, because he served in the military. After that it got all over the newspapers, and they hired a bunch of people to fix up his yard.

I think that CNN should interview the veterans. Maybe students could post question ideas for the blog that would be added to the interview.

    November 10, 2010 at 2:01 pm |
  371. Alvaro

Helping War Veterans to forget the horrors they have seen is quite impossible. But, of course, I agree that the country must devote not a single day but the 365 days of the year to remember them. In any case, I have to say that I do envy the US because you guys do respect your War Veterans a lot. In my country, Spain, let's just say that is quite the other way round. Unfortunately, this is the way it is!

    November 10, 2010 at 2:03 pm |

Make cards for them and tell them thank you for serving our country

    November 10, 2010 at 2:50 pm |

I think taking the day off to honor our Veterans is an awesome way of honoring them. But people are falling away from the meaning of Veterans day, and some don't even know what it's all about. I think we should at least show a little respect for our veterans by taking at least a few minutes of our day and thanking them or serving community service down at a shelter were a lot of Veterans are at, and listen to there stories. Thanks, for serving our great country American Soldiers!

    November 10, 2010 at 3:32 pm |
  374. Sarah

I think that the best way to honor our veterans is to visit them where they are in the hospital so that they feel there ok. Also it would be nice to let them know how honored they are for fighting in the war. A good way to honor them would be to give the army food or give the families clothing.

    November 10, 2010 at 3:36 pm |
  375. Emily

Anyone who serves in the army deserves a life time of appreciation, and honor. Where would our country be if we didn't have those amazing brave people fighting over seas for the lifes that we all want to live? Without these brave men and women, ALL of our lives would be MUCH different, some people think that we don't need an army, and that war is bad, but, without our army, who would defend us? There comes a point when you really have to think about it, and realize just how much we DO need an army, and just how special veterans are! =]

It's very important to honor our veterans. However, sometimes overdoing it isn't a good thing. For someone who has been in war, they might not want an extravagant "thank you" because it brings back the horrible memories of war. Honoring and thanking them is essential, but let's not cause them any more grief.

I think that the big ceremonies are nice and honoring and yes, some come from the heart but it just isn't right to honor them onlyonce a year. We can't have a big celebration every couple weeks to honor veterans and like I said, we need to honor them year round. I believe that the best thing we can do is to go up to a veteran, if you are sure him or her is a veteran, and thank them for their service, Veteran's Day or otherwise. They will appreciate it and you will feel good that you made someone's day.

I think Veterans Day is the time to be thankful for having a free country and it is all thanks to the men and women of the United States Army. These Veterans have risked there lives for us. I think that friends and family should honor this day. You don't have put on this big fancy cerimony. if you know someone that was in the war a visit or call on the phone is what will brighten up there day most of all. Then they are shure to know that you really care about not only them but about this day. On Veterans Day get together with your friends and family and say a prayer or a speech , because this day will be in are lives forever!!!

I believe that we can honor the people in our armed forces by having schools give a presentation about the veterans, and maybe hold a ceremony for them that involves the whole school instead of just thoes in special programs like the National Honor Society, or ROTC.

I think something simple should be done.. Just a simple thank you to a veteran.. Let them know you are very thankful for all they have done.

I think the best way to honor our veterans is to just tell them thankyou every once in a while because I know for sure that they appreciate it.

The best way to honor American Veterans is to help those who can't work anymore with their financial problems. We could also write them letters to let them know how much we appreciate what the have done for this country.

  403. Desmond

Two of my brothers are currently in the army and my dad was in the navy...i talked to them and they said the best thing to do is just acknowledge them by doing something simple.

To honor veterans i believe we should have a breif moment of silence to remember those who fell in battle and to say how much you appreciate what the surviving ones did to keep us safe in times of distress

i think we should find a big building and have a litlle party in it......And we can get a choir or band and sing fighting songs like God Bless America because they deserve it and we can do a little speech thing and tell them thanks for serving our country......So thank you

Thanks to all the veterans that have served in the U.S. Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marine Corp., and Navy. You guys and girls are the reason that we can go to sleep in a soft and nice bed. One day, I want to be in the U.S. Army. Thanks men and women!

What I think is the best way to remember our veterans is to never forget them. That would be the worst thing that anyone could do and I think it is very important that we remember them and thank them forever.

    November 11, 2010 at 1:24 pm |
  415. Hailee

Many people have come to disrespect this day and just look at it as a day to get out of school. I think it should be brought out more and people should know the reasons we have this "holiday." We have programs at school and I think there should be a National program to air on CNN to help ensure people know about this day.

    November 11, 2010 at 1:28 pm |

I think that we should just celebrate veterans day by telling a national Big Warm Thank You to all veterans. Because they gained the freedom of the U.S. and made the nation stronger by fighting side by side.

Veteran's Day is happy and sad all at once. I think we should honor the brave veterans that fought, and try to remember both the good and the bad occurances. This day can help us reflect on the wars.

    November 11, 2010 at 7:02 pm |
  425. amber

I think that we should get a day off school because then we can have a day to pay our thanks to the veterans. I also think that we should have a moment to think about how thankful we are for what the veterans did for us and our families

    November 11, 2010 at 8:24 pm |

That was great how they honored the former soilders that fighted and died for our country. nothing could have been better than to do that. Also a good use of the american flag

Best way to honor the former soilders is to hold a huge ceromony at a place somewhere big and popular

    November 11, 2010 at 10:12 pm |
  428. Siddharth

When I watched it, I felt sad for the people you basically donated their lives just for our country, we should have a moment of silence everyday to think of what they could of done. My great great grandfather was a freedom fighter for India, I think of how it must of been to be locked up in a jail, now his writings are very famous, you don't go to war to be famous, you fight for your country and what you want, you try to do the best, but it doesn't turn out what you expect, so you try harder the next time.

    November 11, 2010 at 10:20 pm |

Respect the, make something for them, when you see a vet tell them than you do that for everyone you see that is in uniform thank them for protecting you and your family and your family. Thank you to all veterans and the men and women who are enlisted now

    November 12, 2010 at 1:44 am |
  430. Tiffinie

I think the best way to honor Veterans is to simply show your appreciation, like shaking their hand or flashing them a smile. They aren't the type of people who want to be showered with attention or cooed over. They served our country dutifully and that, I’m sure, is all the honor they need. So i think just being friendly and showing respect is the best thing to do.

    November 12, 2010 at 10:56 am |
  431. dustin

I think there is many ways to honor our Veteran. One way would to simply thank them. Or help them do stuff the elders cant do, or send them a card in the mail saying how much we are greatful for their doings.

    November 12, 2010 at 11:15 am |
  432. alannah

I think it is very important to honor veterans because they fight for our country and defend us. If it wasn't for them, our country would still have slaves and many other terrible things.

I think you should have a 1 minuet to remember the Veterans by. At my school we have this huge whole school assembly for an hour that all of our veterans are invited to. We also have a guest speaker , and our band, Honor choir, and Golden stirrings play at.

The best way you could honor our vetrans is to thank them and suport them all the way. Our vetrans desirve our respect because they put there lives on the line risking everything just for our safty and freedom. Without them we would still be a countrey that has slaves, no freedom, and constantly attacked so think about what they do for us.

    November 12, 2010 at 4:55 pm |
  440. Kara-Lynn

I think that the best way to honor our veterans is to spend time with them and to pray for all of those in Iraq. It makes me feel sad that people sacrificed their lives for us just so we could be here. It gives me an empty-stomach feeling inside that makes me want to see all of them and hug them tight!

    November 12, 2010 at 4:56 pm |

The best way for a class to honor veterns is to have some talk to you about there sacrifices.

    November 12, 2010 at 4:58 pm |

i think that to honor our veterans we should have a week called thank a veteran so that we can really say thank you to those whom have fought for us.

It's the little things that count. Just visiting a veteran nursing home and saying thank you. I'm sure they will appreaciate anything you do because my grandfather served 25 faithful years in the army.He served in the Korean War, and 2 tours in the vietnam war.God Bless all the armed forces fighting for our freedom.Thank You soliders and veterans.

I think we should thamk them for what they have done because they risked there lives out there so i think we should honor them and remember them and thank them because they did a very good and brave thing!!

    November 13, 2010 at 11:06 pm |
  450. Matthew

I think that all they need is to show them you respect them. They fought in wars, probably losing a leg, an arm, an eye, or even his life. Respect for them is the least we could do.

    November 14, 2010 at 4:58 am |
  451. Salena

I think the best way to honor veterans is to just pay respect to them because they risk their lives for us and are really courageous and brave to do so.
Just honor and remember all those who fought and died on Veterans' Day. It is very honorable to have people risking their lives for you and no one should ignore the fact that people are actually out there to protect you.

    November 15, 2010 at 11:28 am |
  452. Fawwaz

I think the best way to honor a veteran is to take a little bit of time out of your day and think about what they do or what they did and respect it

    November 15, 2010 at 11:31 am |
  453. Haru

There is no right or wrong way to honor Veterans-they are all fairly good. No matter how you say it, whether you thank them in person or simply send a card, you are sending the same message of thank you for risking your life to protect out country. Sometimes, even the simplest things like taking a moment to think of the things they have done will have an impact. No matter what, please remember our Veterans.

    November 15, 2010 at 11:34 am |
  454. Susie

To honor veterans, instead of talking about how sad it is that so many people died we should be happy that so many people wants to serve the military to help protect our country.

    November 15, 2010 at 11:37 am |
  455. Ashtyn

I want to give my thanks to all the veterans out there that risked there lives. I think the best way to honor a veteran is to listen to there stories and thank them.

  456. hanna

I think that veterans are a big part of our country, and if they didn't serve our country, we most likely wouldn't be here now... please take some time and thank all your veterans for serving our country for his/ her life.

    November 15, 2010 at 11:45 am |
  457. Ashley

I think that honoring our veterans is a pretty big deal because they fought in deadly battles for us and we should show them how much we want to thank them.

    November 15, 2010 at 11:53 am |
  458. Iglesias

We should really congradulate those who have fought in the war and have gone through the unimaginable, they have suffered and fought to protect us, let us rejoice 😀

    November 15, 2010 at 11:54 am |
  459. Leandra

I think the best way to honor all the veterans is to pray for the best for them, and like somebody else said maybe have a huge parade and all the veterans can walk in the parade.

    November 15, 2010 at 12:48 pm |
  460. Lamb

You should make a red, white and blue cake that looks like a flag and bring it down to the VFW to surprise the Veterans and thank them.

    November 15, 2010 at 1:36 pm |
  461. Jenah

I think a good way to honor veterans is to Have a letter day where kids at school write to a veteran thanking them for their work.

you could leave something respectfull on the graves that are neglected or bare and let them know that you appreciate what they did for freedom, those that are not dead but alone you could give them a card or tell them thank you, you never know how far a simple gesture can go.

    November 15, 2010 at 7:55 pm |
  464. Aspen

I think that everyone who is in the army or was in the army should get honnored expecilly the ones who died for us it s a big risk to go out and fight knowing you might lose your family your friends i know i could never do it but everyone who is i honor them and pry for them every day to make sure they come home to they family and friends.

honoring veterans is a big deal but they really should try to track down some sort of family or long lost relitive. so some sort of family could be there to support them for all they did even though they are not with us anymore.

    November 16, 2010 at 3:59 pm |
  467. Page

f you know somebody who's served the US at one point, try to be nice to that person. Get them some lemonade. Go over to their TV to change the channel. Play a game with them. Go to a zoo with the Veteran. Or just talk with them.

    November 17, 2010 at 3:33 am |
  468. Morgan

I think we should all honor veterans!!! They do sooo much for us.

    November 17, 2010 at 9:22 am |
  469. Josie

I think the best way to honor veterans is to have a parade with all of the veterans that are no longer fighting, and have them on a float to show how much we care.We should also show them a sign of respect by having a moment of silence after the parade to show how much we care about the fighting,no longer fighting, and passed veterans.

    November 17, 2010 at 2:10 pm |
  470. Josie

I think the best way to honor veterans is to have school fundraisers, and try to raise as much money as they can.And in return for the students for doing such a good deed, is to have them an outside day where they can do games together and have fun!

    November 17, 2010 at 2:20 pm |
  471. brianna

we should get all the veterens together and see if they can find some of the people the battled with. it would serve as a "keep going you've made it this far your not the only one!" type of push. then we shoud get the hole town together and walk to the grave yard and they would all bring flowers. 🙂 i think thats the best idea i've had in a while!! 😛

    November 17, 2010 at 2:26 pm |
  472. Josie

A good way to thank the veterans for all that they did for us is to 1.have a shout out...2.send them cards...3.have more memorials for them ...4.have a county wide bake sale and dinner for them...5.raise money for them.

    November 17, 2010 at 3:32 pm |
  474. Abby

Well, I think that veterans are amazing people. I think that there should be firework shows all over the country, and everyone should celebrate. I'm not sure if this already happens, but I think that Obama should give a speech, in honor of these great men and women. They truly risked their lives for us, and although they didn't need to, as the did not die, that is worth a lifetime of repayment. They really show what everyone should be willing to do, and they stepped up to fight for us, no matter what way. That definately deserves a lot of thanks.

    November 19, 2010 at 2:01 pm |
  485. Ellen

The easiest way to thank a veteran and maybe even the best way to pay tribute, might be this. I learned it in school; You put your hand on your heart like you are pledging allegiance, and then you outstretch it towards the veteran. They know, and you will know, that this means, "From the bottom of my heart- Thank You." If you don't want to approach them or see them in the airport you just do that motion.

    November 19, 2010 at 6:19 pm |
  486. maggie

the best way to honer our veterans is to give back to the community and those in need.Of course always say thank you.Take a day of to relax and remember everything our soilders do for our safety.

    November 22, 2010 at 1:27 pm |
  490. Dustin

A good way to honor our veterans is to have a celebration for them occansionally. Think about it, millions of men and women are risking their lives for America every day. They need to be honored greatly. They could be killed any day now. It was a good idea to have a day that honors Veterans. I think Alexa is right, an old fashoned barbecue would be nice, who doesn't love barbecues? (No one!)

    November 22, 2010 at 4:09 pm |
  491. Emily

I think the best way to honor the Veterans is to set up a parade of volunteers to march and play music for those who were and are in the military. Also they should raise an American flag and have the band play the Star Spangle Banner.

    November 23, 2010 at 10:48 am |
  492. jason

i think that we should just say thanks

    November 23, 2010 at 12:16 pm |

the way that we should honor vetrains is by helping them with things that they can't do anymore.that would be paying a big tribute to the men & women who surved our countrie.

    November 23, 2010 at 2:02 pm |
  494. Emily

A good way we could honor our troops is by having a parade and by having assemblies all over the world and we could actually take time out of our day to honor our troops.

The best way to help are veterans is to go help out at retirement homes or just dontate to hospitals or just admire the fact they were war heros every singal last one of the 100000000 of them

    November 24, 2010 at 11:38 pm |
  496. Kaylee

Hand a flag and set off some fireworks. Simple yet meaningful. We do it for the Fourth of July to show freedom and freedom is what the troops give us.
