20

It's the atomic number of calcium, the bill that features the face of Andrew Jackson, the number of units in a score, the number of faces in an icosahedron, the Super Bowl when the Chicago Bears defeated the New England Patriots...and the number of years that CNN Student News has been on the air.

We'd love to know what stands out to you the most from Friday's show - and what you think the world will be like 20 years from now!

20 years from now i think the world will be different. i expect that the ecnomy will be much stronger, there will be less wars happening each year, and al kihda will be no more. the thing stood out to me on Fridays news is that the slide show of the 20 years of cnn. it just shows how cnn progressed in giving people the best news you can get.

I think the show will be the same but a lot better and more updated and high tech. It might be the same people, it might not, but it will still be the same old but better CNN Student News.

The world is obviosly going to be very different. It will probably be more Hi-tech with more devices nobody would even think of making! It will be very cool, but probably more polluted and there will be more energy used to hurt or enviroment.

What really stood out is the main events, the bad, the good, the impossible, i mean cloning, thats cool! I think that 20 years from now if cnn student news continues doing well, headlines will be the new phones, technology, presidents, ect. Keep doing well cnn! And happy 20 years of on the air!

What stands out to me the most was the scene from the first world trade bombing. It was kind of weird seeing that and then knowing that those people did not know the next one was coming, none of us did. I do have to say that my least favorite was the trick question 🙂 My class was very upset that there was not at least a non of the above option. In 20 years from now I hope I have a really cool flying car and that Texas is it's own country by then, just kidding. Go Monarchs.

The wolrd would be like a land of sadness. The only reason I say this is because we need to start to take care of our plant. If we do little things now then we can save that from happening. Then the world would be like a land of happieness.

The most thing that stands out in Fridays show was that people were getting hurt. I think no one should get hurt ortaken advantege of.

The world will be so high tech in 20 years and their will be machines that do thing in a mila second. Also cars will fly in the air. their would be no need for plains anymore. their will be hotel's in space and in the sky.

The thing that stood out to us was that there was no pun this newscast... and that makes us sad! 😦

Ideas of what the future will look like in 20 years:

    -zero-gravity basketball
-the war will start to come to an end
-there will be no world if we don't take care of the earth

    September 25, 2009 at 1:10 pm |

    Here are our class thoughts:

-Operate things by sitting where you are
    -Find the cure for AIDS
    -Current war will end
    -Economy will be better
-Israelis and Palestinians will come to an agreement
-Refrigerators will throw food to you
-Texting will be out and ESP will be in
    -TV will be voice activated
    -Polar bears would be extinct
    -More environmentally friendly cars
    -Flying cars
-All classes would have a Synthesizer
    -Paraprofessionals will be robots
    -Not enough trees

I was amazed that your segment about 20 years in history today focused on so much tragedy. Yes, those are big news stories but there are many stories that could focus on good things.

Also, the kids in my class today were not born until 1996; it would have helped them to have some type of caption or headline to define what they were seeing.

My students immediately commented about the "sad and the tragic" being more of the focus. They asked me, "What are some good things that have happened in the last 20 years?' It is sad to me that the bad and tragic drives the news. I even think people would feel better about the economy if the media could be more postive. Always remember your impact on young people.

We enjoy your news segment each day. I just wanted you to know their thoughts today.

    What stood out:

-The Virginia Tech Shooting because my brother went to college and someone tried to do the same at his school
-Hurricane Katrina because we did a fundraiser for that afterwards to raise money

What we expect in 20 years:
-Another terrorist attack on the US
-Atomic bomb dropped on a country
-More materialistic technology being more common
    -North Korea starting a war
    -Lions win the Super Bowl
    -Cars flying
    -Smarter cars
    -Cars that drive for you
-Schools no longer using paper- just technology
    -Flying cats

I liked the whole 20 years slideshow, bravo!

Well, its like this, in 20 years, this country will either have peace and prosperity, or death and decay. Most likely the second one, since it seems most people cant live with others differences.

what i think about todays show is, i was just remembering all the bad things that happened and felt kinda bad.i think that we are going to have way more advanced technology.

What really stood out was the first world trade bombing. Twenty years is like a long time and alot of things will change. Like more hi-tech devices. For instance cell phone companies are coming out with so many new phones that i dont know what i would choose for a phone. HI!! :0

    September 25, 2009 at 6:06 pm |
  89. samantha 12

i think that the world will either be thaken over by clowns or just like it now but the air will be more polluted and more technology!?!?

  90. JeSsIe

i think that if the economy keeps going like it is that we are all going to pay for it because we are just starting to come out of the ressesion and we need to stop doing bail outs

    September 27, 2009 at 3:54 am |
  91. Keltsey

In 20 years life as we know it will become worse. We complain that jobs and the economy has took a deep decline down into the toilet. If we decide to raise taxes to the upper class the jobs will diminish because they are the ones providing the lower and middle class the jobs they need to survive. Also as I said when I blogged about the health care reformity we are just giving to people who are usually lazy bums who won't get off there butts if we help them. Plus in the end are generation and the next will have to pay for all the money we and the goverment gave which will put us in even more debt as we already have. Plus the liberals will not even let us drill for oil even though we alreadyhave it here so is it wise to give bail outs when were in enough DEBT ALREADY?!

i think there will be super rad robots everywhere. i also think that we will have made living in space possible and aliens will have finally made peace with humans. cars will also be flying. for real

I think the world will be more evolutionalized in twenty years. i think that Bush had a lot of mishaps while he was in office. But, still a great president. I'm always gonna remember Obama getting into office though. i won't ever forget that or 911 for that matter.

What Really stood out was the 9/11 thing. With the airplanes running into the buildings and killing thousands. 20 years from now I think that CNN student news will be about the same bad jokes keeping us up to date with news and weird facts. So yah it will be about the same

    September 28, 2009 at 10:22 am |
  95. Brandon

Well I think 20 years from now hopefully ill have a happy family at the same time computers improve hopefully Osomo becomes available to us in the US and we and all our troops will come back very soon and well I think the future will be great.

I really like the corny jokes at the end of each show. Every day we watch CNN student news and I don’t like the show, I like the joke. I also like the before we go part. That is very interesting to me. In 20 years I don’t know what I will be doing but all I know is that I hope I am alive.

    September 28, 2009 at 2:27 pm |
  98. alex

I think that twenty years from now, the world not be very different. After all it will only have been twenty years which means no flying cars, robots, or space transportation. I think that it will be more like it is today only with just a few small advances and a better economy.

The twenty dollar bill has Andrew Jackson it and the atomic number is number 20 that’s when the Chicago bears beat the England patriots.

In 20 years, life might be better than it is now and it might be worse. I would hope that the technological and the healthcare systems would be updated an everyone would have healthcare. I would hope that we wouldn't have debt (*cough* Washington *cough* D.C. *cough*) and that everyone who needed help from the government could get the help they needed.

In my opinion with the rate that technology is accelerating the world will be significantly different in twenty years. There is also the fact that some of our political issues today will be amplified over time. Due to this we must now begin to try and do the best for ourselves in the future. Twenty years may not seem like much in the long run but in terms of technology and news it is equivalent to a millennium. Within twenty years many of the things we thought to be impossible will be common practice then. Look 1989-2009 and you will see what I mean.

I doubt that the world will have any significant changes 20 years from now. While there will be advances in technology, and many of them may be important, the world as a whole will be largely unchanged from what it is today.

In 20 years we will have hoverthingers. And, we will have water that turns into fire. And fake stars.

  106. Billybob

I can’t say for sure what it will be like 20 years from now, but I can bet that it will be more high tech than what I can think of. There could be millions of things that might happen. People could be driving hover crafts everywhere, or we might even have teleportation! Let’s just hope the future is bright.

i think that in 20 years from now there will be another disaster that will effect the whole world, and the future.

I think in 20 years the world will be polluted and we won't even be able to eat it will be to sick from dieses. So I think we should start conserving and save the enviroment as much as possible.

    September 30, 2009 at 10:08 am |
  112. Rebecca

In 20 years I think that there will be a lot of robots that will do things for us. There might even be huver-cars! I doubt it though. Technology is improving and getting better everyday and if the scientists continue to do the good work that they are doing each and every day, there might be robots doing things for people on a daily basis. Alse, things will be solar powered!!!!

  115. Kaili

In 20 years, I think the world will have changed. Not in many ways. Yes there will be better things like flying cars, or something. But the world will still have wars, environmental problems, and the economy may not be better. If no one decides to change the ways the world is now, we will never be a perfect planet. Why can't we just have peace? Everyone shares the land, and you dont need to fight for your freedom. We all need to come together as a planet and as people, and pull it together so there is a world in 20 years.

I think fuel will be with water and natural gas for all things. Mini electric cars will be roaming the street. robotics will exell to anything in a household. The problems in the world like too much garbage and world hunger will be solved.

20 years from now' the world could be all full of technology new ways to have fun new cures for diseases and way much more! Also the world might even not be here anymore and everyones dead because if we dont help save our world by recycling and saving water and energy we could all die just because of the careless people of our world.

I think and hope the world will be getting better. Like hopefully the world will be recovering from the pollution in the air, and hopefully more diseases will be treated. Also, the world should be more safer to live in.

I think the world would be better than it is now. I think so because we would have better technology. But I think that the enveironment would be worse than it is now because of more polution from cars.

I think this is supposed to be a happy comment, but I don't we're going to have an "happily ever after" in our world. Violence, including murder and rape, are increasing rapidly in the United States. Sadily, it seems as if were the country that has the most problems with this. I think it will just continue to get worse, and our ozone layer is doing to hot either. Just how will my children (Wow, only an teen, waiting awhile, don't worry :]) be able to go outside with out sun screen? Or walk across an street without being hit by a car?

The one phrase that annoys me the most is "whatever".It's most often used and can be annoying when used all of the time.
